Most ladies don’t look for women-specific splitboard. They opt men’s designs or go to splitting services to divide into two parts the solid snowboard.
Nevertheless, today there is a sufficient choice of splitboards for women. These boards are lighter, more flexible, and have a narrower waist. All this make them more appropriate for women and their style of ride.
With regard to splitboard bindings, the main trouble issue is finding the right one for small boots size. These are a few leading players in this game:
If you are looking for a women-specific splitboard and reliable bindings for them, below are some of the best options.
Ditch the slider pins and switch to the smooth-operating Voile Speed Rail Splitboard Binding’s intuitive hook-to-axle interface. The Speed Rail does away with pesky slider pins for an upward-facing hook that attaches to a solid axle, allowing free-pivoting action when you’re touring uphill. When it’s time to ride, simply pop off the binding, slide it front-to-back on Voile Pucks, and snap down the rear-locking latch. It’s really that easy and quick during transitions, providing an excellent touring and riding interface.
The Ride-N-Stride Highback features a forward lean toggle that pops in and out between ride and tour mode. Pulled outwards, the forward lean toggle slides away from the heelcup, giving you an additional 25-degrees of stride length. When it’s time to ride, simply snap it back down to obtain your pre-set forward lean setting. The Heel Lockdown feature is essential for cruising over rolling meadows en route to the ascent, traversing ridgelines, and side-stepping, while its brass bushings provide greater reliability over time, without being suspect to premature wear. The rest of the binding retains its upgraded straps from last season, 6061-T6 aluminum baseplate, and fully adjustable heelcup.
Please note, the Speed Rail Splitboard Binding comes with dual-height climbing wires, touring brackets, and mounting hardware for both the climbing wires and touring brackets. It doesn’t come with Voile Pucks, which are sold separately.
Today is my first day split boarding. I’m out of birth dude. Pass super stoked. Couldn’t ask for better conditions. Pretty amazing out here. We’re just at the bottom of our loop right now going to send it up the hill and do some touring and try to get some nice cow laps in. Today I’m going to talk about my Voile universal split board bindings. It’s my first day on them and I’m just gonna let you guys know what I think, on my first impressions on those bindings and just split boarding in general.
Colorado Avalanche info center says it’s a super low avalanche risk today. It’s the safest rating that they give also this late in the season. The snow’s nice and fused up and pretty safe, but we do all have our beacons, shovels, and probes. Just in case. Oh my god, should stick out here guys. We’re almost at the top. I think we might be turning around right now. I’m out riding with my buddies Jordan and come today and looks like we’re going to get some good turn.
I think we’re going to hit a line right up there somewhere. Maybe over there, maybe that shoot right there so I thought this was going to be the hardest part transitioning from split to snowboard mode but I guess with the lubrication from the snow that binding just slid right on it was super easy and that in that pin which a lot of people complain about wasn’t really a big deal so sorry if the audio quality drops guys. The input jacks my external mic so I hope you got to hear me okay.
So we just got to the top for our first lap. I just kind of getting all the gear ready. Got my flint converted back to snowboard mode and just kind of discussing our lines. The two lines I showed you earlier. The first one is over there. Second guy is kind of ahead of us over there. The binding so pretty good on the way up I’m running the bowl. A universal split board binding just with my regular union bindings. You, guys, seen all the review videos, I suggest. Your Jones snowboards review. I’m also on the Jones explorers flip board and I have a spark rd skin, so they felt really comfortable on the way up. Nice long strides. Overall, it’s been an awesome experience so far I’m super happy with the bowl a universal kit. The transition was super. Mellow putting in that tin was no big deal. Sliding the bindings on was nice and smooth so I’m really happy so far.
Really, the only difference I’m seeing is that you’re elevated just a little bit over the board which isn’t really that big of a deal so far. It’s been pretty sweet. All right, we’re at the top of the first line and a little scared but look how good this looks! All right, do it all good. All right, here comes dude that was insane bottomless George about to drop. You’ve taken a different route than we did. Oh good, dude! All right, it’s still pretty early in the day. We’re going to head back down to that cabin and go up for one more lap. We get clip down if I could we take under. Almost back to the cabin. Alright, guys. We’re going up for round two. We’ve got some snow coming down but a temperature stayed nice and cool all day. So, it should still be nice and safe. We probably won’t go up to tie this time but uh trying to get some more of those bottomless turns in that was epic.
I feel like you can get some really nice long strides with these bindings so that’s pretty awesome Knudsen help and keep up with my ski. Your friends taking some long strides keeping a good pace. One think though when I was setting these guys up today. I don’t have my right binding perfectly, a zero on the ball. A slider so I’m about 3 degrees angled forward so I’m not perfectly at the stance I sent my pucks at well. Yeah, other than that it’s been really good out here today. Super stoked on the experience. Transition time has been really short.
I feel like it’s harder to get into touring mode than in to snowboard mode when you’re sliding that pin through but it’s really not that big of a deal either way. I wouldn’t say it took me more than three or four minutes either way, so I think these bindings are pretty sweet if you’re looking to get out in the backcountry I’d highly recommend them 160 bucks brand-new msrp. It’s a lot more affordable than binding a three or four hundred dollars or more split board binding alright keep going. We’ll go one more lap in and then head back to the car and get back to Denver as a reasonable time.
You got the avalanche-prone terrain here. Guys, it’s about 38 degrees wind blow to slope underneath this cliff band, so we’re just going to traverse it one by one and try to reduce the load on this face here and get across it safely. Be found the spot. So good pretty excited much better than anticipated. Look at this. All right, dropping tj the hips and let it rip. All right, final stretch to the truck of Apollo camp. Oh my god, guys that was so much better than expected. The standard has been set for splitboarding. Now we’re good hey buddy definitely going to be doing a lot more of this spring, especially, if the snow keeps up like this.
One last think on those bindings that second time. It took me a lot longer to transition because I didn’t realize my binding wasn’t slid all the way forward so when you are transitioning on these guys make sure that it’s all the way forward or you might waste a bunch of time trying when it’s not going to say awesome.
It’s been an epic day out here. Thanks for watching! It’s got any questions for me – leave it in the comments below or hit me up on Instagram at board archive. If you want to check out these bindings in my gear in a little more detail we got a link in the description for you and keep having fun out there. Guys, I hope some of you are still snowboarding still pretty epic out here in Colorado. I’m gonna try to keep this going and I’ll see you next time.
Move beyond the confines of tracked-out resorts and maddening lift lines with the Arbor Swoon Splitboard guiding you to fresh lines and untapped terrain. It’s built off a reclined version of The System Rocker for better uphill skinning and easier float in the deep stuff. Grip Tech sidecut adds two extra contact points for improved grip when you’re dropping into sketchy chutes and wind-buffed ridgelines.
This directional twin split features a mid-level flex, allowing you to ride everything from low-angle tree stashes after big storms to alpine steeps in the spring. Since it retains a centered stance, the Swoon Splitboard is also highly adept at spinning off cliffs and sending backcountry kickers. Karakoram clips actively join each half together, allowing for a solid feel underfoot without the excess slop plaguing earlier, more primitive splits.
Arbor’s Single Malt core features tip-to-tail poplar for a consistently smooth feel, with proven durability for years of backcountry exploration. The Bamboo Power Ply gives the board its distinctive look, doubling as a durable topsheet against dings and scratches. Mixed Glassing is Arbor’s most versatile fiberglass lay-up for stability without sacrificing playfulness. And to ensure plenty of speed, the sintered base provides quick glide across flats and deep snow.

For aggressive mountain riding it’s got great tip which gives you extended side cut on the underneath of the bindings so. Attica edge control and i seer hard pack. Bring a touch of freestyle prowess with you into the backcountry with the Smokin Women’s Judy Splitboard. This twin-shaped split’s mid-flex balances the needs of freestyle riders looking to sample natural features in the backcountry without being overly aggressive or too soft and squirrelly. Equipped with an Early Rise camber profile, Judy delivers exceptional float in powder and a playful ride just about everywhere else, while the Skate Kicks act as a radial contact point that rise into a flat tip shape for a buttery, floaty feel in the nose and tail for deeper days.
Comprising Judy’s core, knot-free aspen wood hand-picked from a sustainable, ISC-certified lumbermill provides you with reliable strength and flex at a low weight. Then, 3-Stage Dampening employs three layers of dampening to absorb vibration caused by choppy snow at high speeds for a consistently smooth ride. The Variable Density Fiberglass brings you the ideal combination of flex, strength, and pop through changing axial tension and density in critical points that assure bombproof durability. Mello Magne-Traction like high-rated magnetraction snowboards offers a reliable edgehold on some of the iciest terrain, yet maintains catch-free performance, and the sintered 6000 UHMW base provides superior wax-absorption for lightning-fast speeds.
Featuring a twin shape and a medium flex, the Prior Women’s Slaylok XTC Carbon Splitboard is an excellent choice for ladies who are just getting into backcountry riding or who enjoy taking a freestyle approach to shredding beyond the resort. Seek out fresh turns and fresh features on this fun, playful split.
While most splitboards are stiff, directional beasts, this board’s twin shape and somewhat more playful feel make it a blast for surfing through mellow terrain and throwing spins off features. But don’t be fooled, it’s still capable of taking on technical lines and dropping cliffs thanks to its powerful and responsive XTC Carbon construction. Rocker tips help keep your nose afloat on the deepest days, while camber underfoot provides edge hold and a responsive feel on sketchy snow. The poplar and aspen core keeps the board lightweight on the way up and snappy when you’re riding down, and the Durasurf sintered base keeps you gliding over flat spots.
The Women’s Prime-X Carbon Splitboad Binding is Karakoram’s premiere binding for professional splitboarders. It’s the lightest Karakoram binding available, and its extreme stiffness assures the unforgiving, instantaneous response that professionals look for while dropping the steepest lines down the biggest mountains. Updates for this season include a prepreg carbon highback for a lighter weight, a better fitted heel cup for better power transfer, and a more open chassis that allows your splitboard to flex naturally.
Lending an incredibly supportive and powerful and featherweight feel to this binding is the aforementioned carbon highback. Adding to its ultra-responsive feel is Karakoram’s Prime Interface, which ensures a completely solid feel underfoot without unnerving seam slop or chatter at high speeds. Its Solid Ride four-point attachment gives you increased stance options (-30 to 30 degrees) and improved ergonomics. Four wide, pre-loaded contact points direct energy to the edges for unmatched response and control when you’re riding steep, high-consequence terrain.
Its Ride-Stride forward lean quickly toggles between Ride and Walk modes with a 1/4-turn of the forward lean adjuster. In Walk mode, the -8 degree forward lean elongates your stride to conserve energy on the long uphill skin. Ride mode delivers 0 to 22 degrees of forward lean (in two-degree increments) for quick-turning response when you’re charging steeps.
Ditching traditional climbing wires for a two-height riser that deploys with the quick flick of your pole basket, the Flip-Speed Riser conquers mellow approaches and more demanding ascents alike. Engage the shorter riser on long, flatter approaches or flip up the taller riser during intimidating, steeper climbs. Additionally, there’s a heel lock-down feature that’s ideal for skating across long flats and side-stepping small hills. This lock-down has a load equivalent to DIN 6.
Specializing in efficiency, the Prime Interface uses the tried-and-true Tour Mode used on the original Split 30 interface. A quick-release touring bracket and Power-Link activation lever allow for quick-and-easy transitions from touring to riding without taking your foot out of the binding. Total changeover time is roughly two minutes, and that includes taking off your skins and stashing everything in your pack. Best of all, the Prime Interface has no moving parts, so you never have to worry about losing parts in the snow.
We’re here at yes bow, and we’re here to talk about all the improvements Karakorum is making for next year this year our overall theme was to make everything lighter without sacrificing. Performance without compromise got our new prime x bonding for next year we took our existing prime x, and we made it much lighter weight and basically we did. Everything we could to it to improve the binding without giving up any of the performance or ease of use advantages that we’ve built up over the years so on. This new prime x we’ve got aluminum hardware on the sides here that’s a way. To save shave weight bryce went through with tyler, and they just thought of every creative innovative way they could go to save weight and make the bindings better aluminum hardware you can see. That here on the bottom as well. Hollow pins on the toe attachment the. Toe catch as well as the pins inside the. Heel stay all hollowed-out cord out just. As light as possible we got this overall binding weight down to 585 grams that. I’m holding in my hand right now it’s really light but also very. Responsive something that’s really important to us is a full length sidewall that gives you a lot more support both when you’re riding and when you’re touring and the prime x takes. That one step further with asymmetric full sidewalls so you still get the full. Support from toe to heel but on the inside you get a little bit more range of motion so you can drive into your turns while you’re in ride mode really feel kind of more of a surfing kind of feel while you’re riding but you get the high side wall on the outside of your foot which is great support for tour in so you’ve got a high side wall on the right you’ve got flex locks supporting you from the inside and altogether you’ve got a really well tour in binding that’s extremely lightweight we. Replaced the sleeves of our individually. Sleeved tour axles with aluminum on the. Part that doesn’t need wear protection, and then we have stainless steel on the critical components here so still really long-lasting still very efficient and smooth so a new door line this year is. The prime nomad the prime nomad is. Replacing the prime sl this is a kind of flagship binding kind of our bar setting binding for alpine back country performance it’s all. The features that an advanced alpine split boarder is going to need so you have a really successful long tour in the back country at a more competitive. Price point this is kind of you can. Think of the prime nomad as the prime x and the prime connect had a baby it’s got easy adjustment on the side this is a very responsive binding with a. Stiff less co2 heel but you have some good range of motion and kind of more. Spring-loaded feel going tail to nose so. You have good range of motion for riding it feels really intuitive and comfortable but very responsive when you’re going edge to edge you really want to drive into a turn as well. New on this binding the reactive air the. Reactive high-back another way to save weight so between the reactive high-back the new x chassis and the air pod strap. This binding is about 60 grams lighter than the prime sl well-being stiffer and offering more response with a stiffer. High back and new straps so again it’s. Lighter weight and also more responsive for the same price point as a prime. Myself.
They’re late shawn school thing kimiko coming at you for the 1819 season with the Karakorum versus spark split board. Binding his showdown so for this year we. Really went all out we have the very best from both spark and kara corn the. Spark pro line surge split board binding. Lightweight functional beautiful beast. Right here love these things have a separate review detailed review with videos and pictures on this guy wanna hear me calm that I’ll link to his review and over here we had the. Karakorum carbon ex-prime rp roberts. Edition that artists right their split. Board binding their top dog offer so. This is not just apple samples those bushels of apples to bushels of apples. Let’s get into what makes these both. Great makes them different it what might be right for you so we’ll start with the spark proline is new for this season saw the arc which is a more lightweight and cutout version on the base plate in a search I’m pretty heavy guide so i go with a search every year and this is its lighter weight than the. Previous versions of surges a save weight on the pillow straps carbon high-back just it’s the lightest binding. Out there proof pictures below comparing. These two together it’s just a minimalist strong functional sexy beast. This one’s all black diamond t-shirt this is available to the public but the. Ones you’ll see that are available at least below will feature some pretty cool colored bolts and stuff like that they really did a great job thinking these are handmade in montana spark crew awesome people love they do good work. Yeah these are very light i think in a. 600 gram range I’ll have all pics below proving the weight of this ice bar okay how the spark work they work in the. Tried and true puck system you know if you have pucks I’d recommend getting the spark metal pucks over the plastic ones they just work better this day in plays. Better spark also offers canted bucks so if people wider stance snowboarding or split boarding that’s a really cool option to have to for this year 1819. Season they will be using enhanced metal. Touring bracket right here it’ll have updated hardware all throughout the. Lighter weight stronger and just really bad ass the last season i get to test out. The next season’s proprietary nylon. Touring brackets they’re really awesome, but they’ll probably available after the season till then i think is even better than they have a handsome metal one right here then we’ll have details from the specs and the battles and all that involvement just know that not only is a binding updated and improved in every way possible but so is the torreón bracket so keep that in mind and then a little cool feature about the sparks is there lenny mark so to engage your high riser right. There as your low disengage so you. Imagine you’re checking pull out yes. Boom there it is one does engage super. Simple butter smooth be honest after. Couple seasons the username i love i have had one or two fall off here and there but I’m like really hard to my care of my job to test things and break things and also those were prototypes of the value was working with so you know everything is better as more they refine some i have not had an issue with this one phone yet it just works as possible so that is the spark serge pro right here. Size large 600 and i believe 40 grams. For 380 grams of exact specs below. Correct all right on to the Karakorum. But one last feature so on the high back is carbon infused and has adjust ability. So for 2 or 8 feet you would disengage. It i have my stuff really tight right now it’s about to go over to her always tighten your gear chicka-chicka gear double-checking gear carry backups of buckles and straps because everything does break alright it’s a sign outside. For to work you’d want this for more. Ability to work and then for shredding i. Would just engage this guy and yours won’t be a squeakiest mine i really have a titan known as a spark a surge the. Karakorum prime carbon acts by Aeneid right here carbon fiber high back you can see right here very clearly this particular one is rp roberts version beautiful mountain right here is literally artwork i love steering this thing the high back also features ability to adjust or to. Toe rings so here you go you have more range of motion articulation if i. Wouldn’t be shredding some mellow pow laps I’ll put it on one right there and. If I’m a do steeper terrain i would put it on the more aggressive lean forward so unlike the spark you can’t. Really adjust it on the fly you need to know a both wrench to it to adjust it but you can really dial in what your stance is as far as angle so that you can have three options which is really cool as opposed to two four options this is usually better pretty much an awesome. Strap system we can talk about unique very lightweight minimalist no buckle to break which is awesome because buckles always break i was recommended carry an extra strap mister buckle for any gear you carry. With you and so how this works meeting. Is also the baseplate is a meld our. Ears cut out so it’s they save weight by. Doing that unlike a spark but does have. A lot more pieces going on so it is a little bit heavier than the spark it’s still extremely lightweight comparatively it’s last when they offer but it has more metal going on also more. Metal on the sides here it’s a more contact with your boot which i feel when I’m riding may or may not it’s all my. Perception feel like more contact and more control again that’s my perception you may differ how it works you see the. Interface here is different than this one so as opposed to is sliding on as a. Sparks others do it actually has an active joining technology mean it comes down lots of place. it’s very tight so you have multiple. Points of contact as opposed to sliding in and clamping down like that does which work really good tell these lucent they do this contact it creates. An amazing feel and feedback from the board, and he saw how it tied it was like a had very minimal play i might want to adjust that for next tour tomorrow just. So i can have a little bit of place should i get a little bit of snow or ice in there so I’m thinking mine the spark are pretty much self-cleaning and also of note that bass player i showed you this is from last year so if you order these bindings this year you’ll have a better more refined baseplate they’ll do a better job of clearing snow and ice out so except to look forward to when. They come out I’ll have the next week I’ll update this review accordingly how. You disengage it this is very thoughtful rubber doodad right here previously i was just to take a bunch of. Guerrilla tape or duct tape and put back here so i can unhinge it but that works. Really well you saw these it was. All right so there it is that’s how that. Works it comes down engage this guy boom you. Should price out there watch as there’re two pins right here okay so it latches on right here there’re two pins will pop. Our right here well and so it sucks into. The board which is really cool i think it creates incredible board fills you get a couple a little bit dampening right there they’re rubber so again it’s. A lot more going on this binding I’m moving pieces and stuff to it you get a little bit of flex which is kind of nice. When you’re really carving and how it differs to in a two-hour mode if you have sleeved axles right here you can. Actually do this part to maintain envelope of lubrication there’s some oil and so as opposed to creating friction. And hinge enough of these bushings to spark this it actually locks into place. And then you tore on these sleeve axles. Which i think is pretty cool not that i haven’t it well I’ve broken both of Karakorum a spark couple of years everybody has that just happens in a back country what I’ve had sometimes happen as bushings would fall out in previous generations they address that for this year, so we have me again and so i guess an earthing has an. Opportunity a fact yesterday just brother pierce snowshoes test it just happens right so prepared in the back country always carry extra buckles extra strap a couple extra bolts I’ve. Actually lost bolts on the tour and tighten your stuff down the night before or the morning before you tore it’s just it’s something you should do like you check your battery’s new beacon you should check your gear make sure it’s all tightened you heard how tight I’d had those things that’s really tight i might want to dial off a little bit but just check your gear double-check before you go out make sure you got backup it was a military is saying it we’re gonna cinavia seals one is none and two is one thing about them. So that was a long-winded tangent but. It’s a very important one so to summarize the Karakorum carbon ex. Split floor binding is the bee’s knees. From kara form it is super awesome the. Spark pro surge is the bee’s knees from. Spark it is super awesome and you can see them side by side and on pictures below side by side as well a little bit different as far as like a little more metal contact on the spark which adds to its weight baseplate simpler more. Complex different kind of mechanism to. Walk them to the board whereas this one slides into place and then ramps down. Similar kind of high backs and that their carbon fiber carbon infused and both adjustable for terrain and for. Writing both straps are extremely comfortable pliable resilient and provide amazing contact and boot. Connection the toe strap on the spark is. Probably my favorite it just works but again there’s a buckle might break my future who knows this thing is this basically well a strap and so lester break a little bit lighter. Weight so as you’re probably gathering I’m not gonna tell you which one they get but hope that you’re making up your opinion as you’re watching this review what is more important to you a little. But lighter by like 40 or 50 grams for. Size largest I’m 11 and a half food i. Fit nice very well so if you are 11 or. 12 definite too large let’s have great buckles both are hand. Built in america washington state montana state so you feel good about that both will serve your purposes i write i literally write both as you tell my both setups because i love both people write. It is great for individuals read these. Are great for three products and i would recommend both that’s probably not your bailiwick to get both so hopefully this. Review helped point out some similarities some of differences its pros some cons of both bodies spark. Pro surge Karakorum prime x carbon will. Have weight more detailed reviews on both of these independently and then comparatively in the review below when i cameron calm michelle so hopefully you. Found this helpful double check your gear be safe make. Smart decisions and have fun the back country take care.
I’m gonna show you in the face and snow. Conditions not having terrible. Clips if i need to first I’m gonna do is. Engage my board clips i have a little cord palette on here make it easy for me. To use my gloves in cold weather I’ll. Put on my tail clip. My front board clip my front tip clip. Now as you can see i have some snow buildup on my ride mode attachment what I’m. Gonna do take my binding i can use my. High back sticky wet snow when it gets. Really cold and things are frozen to the board you’re gonna rely on the high back floor what you’ll find is that it’s a great tool for cleaning this area between your. Tabs same thing swipe off mic so. Attachment just get all general snow. Clear check the bottom of my binding. Good rotate the binding down and settle it into the ride mode engaging my lever and. My lock block and i change my ride. Stride from tour mode to ride mode go. Take lining in shret so I’m gonna change. Over from ride mode back to tour mode first thing i do is disengage my lock. Block open my lever set my binding in. The snow upside down get board clint. Nose clip just engage my back finding. Okay to do the changeover to tour mode. I’m gonna use my tour mode axle okay. Open my lever I’m resting the axle into. The cradle making sure it’s straight i rotate the body down I’m gonna lastly. I’m going to show you the step in feature from ride much a tour mode now. That i have my skins on my pulls out to. Set my to a mode axle straight into the. Cradle take my tour mode axle push the. Cam over good to go. going to gauge my short climbing wire be. Ahead of my ski fall tall wire need to. Make sure that it’s in the riser position and not in the heel lock down position. Oh.
Hey lady shots oh thank you matt come here we’re reviewing the Karakorum. Carbon prime x custom slip war fighting. I love this binding these that says January this year so now mace I’ve got four solid months of using it and that’s strong opinions about these so this is. The lightest fighting they offer has 600. Grams besides large is a purple graphite. Highlander with the custom graphics know how the links are below awesome guy so. Carbon graphite very responsive very lightweight very stiff aggressive high. Back of course that high back easy to. Adjust for tori there we go tour mode. And then a variety this is the current. Eighteen model right here you can purchase it humpin to below next year. When they go production they’re gonna have this lanyard right here lagger makes opening the back hole i easier if. You phone carrier korn’s before you know you should buy duck paper grill table these i didn’t or lanyard around here to facilitate open it in the cold now it. Took that knowledge and made this nice durable attachment and also when you’re. Done use is locked into place very handy. So this is a sturdy strong responsive. Binding i love this baby it’s made of a 75 aluminum so it’s. Lightweight and strong the active joint. Technology is i think really helpful when you’re writing it sucks the board together so care club has there. Own proprietary base plates this is not a plug system so you’ll need to make sure you have base plate but it comes in. Their favor because of relays and boards together and you’ll notice it right away when you’re writing this tip your binding has a really comfortable pliable. Strap here i love this one then this toe. Strap it’s a love-hate relationship took. Me a minute to get used to it but now I’m used to it makes more sense essentially you said it once that’s it just put your toe in first loop it over and you’re done you can get. Proficient at it gets pretty quick pretty awesome so again this is a. The Lightest binding 690 grams for a size large very responsive very strong. For the board field frank satori — these sleeve axles are lubricated and. So it is very smooth not a lot of. Friction going on because we’re lubricated you can always go back and lubricated more although I’ve never had done that you can’t do that it’s a very. Well thought out buying to even the sides there’s more sight going down so. Give me more support on your boot so. Really good edge hold when you’re. Turning and stuff and also in your tor ii it’s a very solid finding they’re currently available so I’ll have links below lonna gimmick comm for best prices and where to purchase them and then next year should you purchase these you’ll get that updated lanyard and also a. Really cool update i should mention earlier that is currently available and will definitely be available to next season is the hill risers this was i would say the Achilles. Heel for Karakorum their hill risers were great on paper and function until they broke, and then they solve that so. Now here’s your high there’s your low boom very reliable very. Strong and of course you do have a heel lock down right there although i don’t use that feature very often it is there and then their hardware is improved -. And next year they might have the different brackets and I’ll put that. Teaser in below this video from omar this year but currently this is what you. Would get if you purchased the Karakorum prime x and then this is the high-back. You would get to get the custom and i think it’s really beautiful not only if you get a really awesome performance binding but it looks really. Cool I’m a kid something tends met up here camping and just look at that mountain shixin right there and just put a smile. On your face and care chrome toes in a nice t-shirt and a little poster see. Deep underwater coal artist cool concept. Cool collaboration there it is. Karakorum carbon prime x this is the. Custom version leaks below where participants as sean sewell thank you ring calm found it helpful and take care.
Hey buddy shawn sue cameron calm we have. Got a really cool comparison for you at the Karakorum prime split board bindings and the spark rd arc squid ward bindings. These are a spark rd arc they teamed up. With burton for the straps and buckles, so they’re nice and buttery smooth easy. Breezy now these guys are based in. Montana they do a great job the high-back is really cool so when you’re. Touring you can disengage this right here and get a little more articulation so get that touring benefit and then. When you want to get after it you just put it in place and there you go and it’s cool to this tooless to design how. Much forward lean you want or don’t want so that’s pretty cool. What else is cool you can buy this for. Like 40 bucks and that will engage and lock down the heel so there it is locked. In place disengaged now the risers are cool. They’re built into the base plate here so you pop it out there’s your short riser and rest until. A little nodule right there then you pop. It out one more time so it’s the same way pop it out one more time and now you’re in a high so reston’s a nodule. There nicely too so pretty easy. So that’s engaged disengage it you’re. Touring nice and smooth and again you. Can adjust there’s a few different ways but you’ll need a four or five. I have any issue last season’s razor i broke it going forward somehow russell. Maroon Karakorum is awesome they replace her for free so next year but. Let me get to go buy these the issue won’t be present and of course they have their own unique interface system that we’ll get into in part 2 of the review when it’s more relevant so there we go we have the proper the airport prime. Binding right here and we have a spark. Already come with the hardware the spark you’ll need either you use your plastic putz from ballet or you can buy these spark plugs which are awesome and again. We’ll have links when where to buy these bindings the sparks the pucks and all. That money gamer calm stay tuned for. Part two. Anyways the chanson game in town with. Part 2 of our review here and this is. Our mounting bracket and you can hole. Right here so you can slide it up down you can go 30 each direction so you can really fine-tune it as well as forward. And back so very user-friendly very fun. To adjust the contact points are here and then check this out right here these pins will come in engaging with. The bindings right here so again I’ll. Show your house works so you get the board put together you line it up with. Those guys and then you engage it rights. There making one very strong secure. Connection i actually tore most time with these by. The way they feel how they respond to board very fluid side is the. Karakorum prime that’s the base model. They have extra miles above that and different strategy to purchase to here’s. A spark r&d; arc so these are great bindings as well how they attach there’s. This little mechanism here from part one. They slide on to the puck system and. They slide on very firmly so you can tell. Around there so the benefit in a. Downside so the benefit is so you have. The puck system these are sparks pox. These are great because you have infinite and variability here as well as back and forth and angle to angle so. Whether you have the spark plugs other companies pucks bolle pucks whatever even make canted pucks now to the. Binding itself slides on with that. Channel system and then yeah latch it. Down with that guy so let’s see if i can get it back on this weird angle and then. There and of course it creates a nice. Strong secure connection as well so the. Spark are indeed bindings come with the bindings that you see here, and they come. With the tour bracket here and the tie. Rakhie here you’ll need to purchase this. Separately you’ll need to purchase your own pucks separately and if you want to. You can purchase as padding although i don’t think you really need it you. Purchase the Karakorum the cost little more money but you get the binding you. Get the puck system valley puck you get the mounting system you get the touring. Brackets and you get the heel risers so you get it all in one package. Further, questions always drop us a line I’ve been it helps to shun souls endearment calm stay safe from that country. You.
All right hi I’m kyle from Karakorum and. This is the lightest snowboard binding. And the lightest flipper bunny in the world this is our new prime x carbon. Totally new for 1718 it works on our. Prime system the prime carbon with the. Problem carbon ex with the inside gravity kit weighs in at 590 grams. That’s quite a bit lighter than anything. Else on the market it’s a let’s see. About 100 in about 100 grams lighter. Than you think we’ve made before the way. We were able to get that much weight out of the binding while still keeping all the performance that Karakorum has to have is we upgraded pretty much all the. Materials on the heel stay and today are now made out of a 7000 series aluminum. It’s a really strong dense. Aluminum that we’re able to take a lot of weight out by a removing material so. It’s so strong that the shows that you can see there’s almost nothing here same thing with the heel stay bryce did some. Really cool things with the design when he was producing this line in um we. Learned a lot with the connect bindings that we made last year that were released and one of the things kind of key design elements that we were able to do with that is we’ve put all the mounting points on the bottom as a post on the side you see here’s last year’s sl I’ll mount hardware comes in on. The side now we put an extra bend on the heel cup all the hardware is on the bottom it’s out of the way it looks very sleek and that also adds a lot of strength along the toe heel axis so when. You’re making the toe side heel side turn the bindings very stiff and strong another cool aspect of the x. Chassis is it has kind of damping. Element built in if you look at it along this plane you can see that there’s somewhat of an arch here it’s kind of similar to the damping system we have on our connect bindings and you can just feel of it there’s enough damp damping this year to absorb you know kind of the day-to-day chatter you’ll experience when you’re on this is the x chassis with our carbon high back so that’s the prime x carbon our carbon high back we. Worked with jeremy to make it and it’s uh has a nice blend of a little bit of. Torsional stiffness but still very stiff so to heal another thing you can see on the x bonding is our anti-gravity kit that’s the anti ratchet as well as titanium hardware so that allowed us to get that. Extra weight out we got under 600 grams that was a big milestone for us we’ve really wanted to have a binding in under 600 grams for a while now it’s been kind. Of just like on the horizon like maybe we can get there and this year we finally broke that mark under 600 grams. With the anti gravity kit with the. Anti-rattle titanium hardware to use the. Anti ratchet super simple just like a ski buckle just pops right off you can. Open up just like a regular strap set it. Up before you ride and then it’s really easy to put on it’s got a couple different settings so if there’s snow and your boot no worries it still goes on just snap it here it cams over with. Your boot in it’s totally locked in you’re secure yeah awesome system the. Antigravity kit is a accessory that you. Can get once you get the prime carbon axe or prime x finding so yeah. That’s the x it also comes with both our. Air strap and our ratcheting air form. Toe strap so you can take your choice if you want the super light easy to use air strap or if you just prefer a traditional normal toe ratcheting strap. One more thing that’s kind of cool about this money and all the contact points are plastic and that’s the prime x carbon prime x has our new reactive high. Back it’s an extremely durable strong plastic makes for a stiffer high back. Then what we had on our sls then out this is our airflow high back this is kind of mid stiffness video a little on the soft side high back now this is a little bit stiffer it’s a kind of just a little bit less stiff than our carbon high back but still very stiff going toe to heel so stiffer lighter reactive high back. All of our bindings for next year are. Going to have our new dual ride stride. Forward lean adjustment, so we’ve been known in the past for having our ride and stride mode adjustment so when. You’re riding you have nice forward lean when you tour you get a little extra room on your stride right now we added. An extra this is the second ride mode, so we have ride stride this. Second ride mode is kind of easier setting so this is either going to be set at a eleven degrees or zero degrees and then you can set the regular setting anywhere from zero to twenty-two degrees whatever you prefer it’s for me as a snowboarder. The perfect forward lean adjustment we could have gone with just a traditional tool-less forward lean but. This is just with the two settings it’s by far the easiest to go between your. Rowdy and aggressive you know baked slalom like really in turns aggressive forward lean setting and your more mellow just kind of cruising around the hill not burning your ankles out setting you can adjust this while your foot strapped into the bindings so just lean forward and flip it to the other set in and now you’ve changed your forward lean and you’re good to go. So yeah those are the features of our. Prime x mining the prime x is weighing. It six hundred and fifty grams so maybe. Eighty grams lighter than last year’s prime now self.
The Voile Women’s Spartan Ascent Splitboard shares the same fun-riding profile as the original Spartan that put Voile on the map for backcountry snowboarders, except this Ascent model is made lighter for an easier time on the skin track. Instead of an aspen core like the original Spartan, the Spartan Ascent’s core is paulownia wood to shed nearly a full pound of the board’s original weight, and to make up for stiffness, carbon stringers ensure the same flex as the Spartan without adding more weight. The Spartan Ascent also lessens its weight with a capped construction, just like all of Voile’s splitboards and skis, and makes up for the durability with full-length steel edges.
Voile builds all their skis and splitboards out of Utah, and as such, their splitboards need to be versatile enough to ride through Utah’s thick trees, steep couloirs, and the occasional apron in spring corn or the best powder on earth. The Spartan Ascent sports Voile’s freeride camber, which combines an early rise tail and nose with soft camber that can float the deepest pow and edge through the iciest hardpack. This unique shape provides a snappy turn radius that can maneuver around tight trees with ease, or bomb down a powdery aprons with minimal turning. If it were a snowboard, the Spartan would be considered all-mountain, but since it splits in two, the Spartan Ascent could be considered all-backcountry.
Dave Frisson from Lowly Manufacturing here with Backcountry Skiing Canada. I’m gonna talk a little about our Spark work. We’ve seen a lot of sales still in the hole. A split kit out DIY kit where you take the old split board cut it in half, so we wanted to address that consumer by offering him a solid product at a really good price.
We’re starting out with the Spartan and a 500 million dollar retail. And how we accomplish, that retail prices that they just painted or really no frills. It has a simple black base, no trafficking and then just a real simple graphic. Got a white top sheet. It includes our new channel plug system so the Spartan is really free of any kind of bling but it’s a real tough product.
I think that it changed the consumers’ mind that maybe was considering to do the DIY system, and they can take and get into the front. They can get in with a sport. A really good product, really good. Christ its playful board it’s got a tighter radius it’s got a nice round flex. Nice entry room and a nice price.
Designed to ride headlong into the storm with aggressive response and powerful stability, the Venture Tempest Splitboard is a women’s-specific split that can handle all-day adventures spent taking on technical terrain and surfing through deep pow. The Tempest’s moderate taper and a softer nose provide float in the fresh, while a stiffer midsection and tail drive stability and control. Equipped with a setback stance, mid-stiff flex, and powerful triax wrap, the Tempest delivers maximum power for carving turns, stomping landings, and ruling anything you choose to ride.
The Straightline profile is flat underfoot to provide stability and edge hold on hardpack and steeps, with rocker at the tip and tail for float and forgiveness. Then, a setback stance keeps your tip up in the deep stuff and gives pow turns a surfy feel, while a slightly tapered tail provides drive and control when you’re charging at max speed. Precise craftsmanship and attention to detail prevents sloppiness in the seam so the board rides more like a solid snowboard, and ash and poplar in the core offer a dynamic feel while keeping weight down for an easy uphill. Triax glass offers pop and responsiveness while still holding a mean edge.
Designed to make venturing into the backcountry in search of fresh tracks approachable and affordable, the Nitro Women’s Volta Splitboard is fun to ride, easy to use, and gentle on your wallet. It offers a flex that’s tuned to suit female riders, so you don’t feel like you’re trying to steer an unwieldy plank out there. The Flatout Rocker profile is flat with early-rise tips for a catch-free ride in powder that still packs plenty of edge hold and stability.
Using tip-to tail poplar wood in the Powercore core, this board provides lightweight strength paired with a flexible, responsive feel. It’s also equipped with Nitro’s new Power Pods, which extend the width of the board under the bindings to eliminate toe drag and create additional contact points for better edge hold on icy patches. Bi-Lite laminates keep the flex smooth for consistent carves while maintaining enough stiffness to let you point it down steeps. And it’s finished off with a durable FH extruded base that’s easy to repair if you ding it up on hidden rocks.
Just as its name implies, the Pallas Zeitgeist Splitboard captures the spirit of a generational mindset with a unique, aggressive shape that’s leading the evolution of women’s snowboarding by charging hard and having fun in the backcountry. From low-angle pow in the trees to ripping technical terrain at high speeds, the Zeitgeist does it all with the perfect blend of power and grace.
A large, rockered nose, heavily setback stance, and tapered directional shape make for a ride that’s both unsinkable and surfy in pow and confidently stable and responsive when blasting through chop. Then, the short and stiff tail nimbly threads through the trees while turning on a dime, which is rounded out with a heart-shaped swallowtail helps conserve energy so your leg doesn’t burn out too fast. Light and snappy, the full poplar core provides the response and power you need for all types of conditions without bogging you down with extra weight. Carbon woven directly into the fiberglass gives you more power on the skin track or when conditions are torn up.
Okay! Yeah, we’ll start at kind of the top of out of our line so this is the Prime X Carbon. This is for the customer looking for the apex and backcountry technology. No sacrifices, no compromises. Just the best technology can buy. They want kind of the futurist foot boarding right now, really. Stiff carbon high back all the weight savings of the Prime X. No compromises, just stiff charge. All over everything the best thing you can get Prime X. A very similar customer.
It’s really up to the customer what they want in feel that same customer that wants maybe just a slightly less aggressive high back is going to go for the Prime X. I mean really happy. This is like kind of I put the stiffness of this high back at probably a seven and a half hour eight on the stiffness scale. The stiffness of this high back but the Prime X Carbon is a 10 out of 10 so very similar customers with the X and X Carbon moving into the Prime Nomad.
This is for us kind of bar study in backcountry bonding. I would just say the backcountry pier is someone that’s doing a lot of time in the backcountry is going to be really happy with the Prime Nomad and as morning grows a lot of snowboarders. A lot more snowboarders keep making the transition into splitboarding. The connect binding is meant to reach out to those customers and bridge the gap between snowboarding and splitboarding.
If you want a really comfortable resort feel you’re going to be really happy with the fully VA footbed. The nylon damping sidewalls and just overall kind of familiar feel of a connect binding. It’s also a more accessible price point and then the connects we break up into two models. With the connect are being kind of the mainstay bread-and-butter nice high back. All the benefits of the kine ct, all the benefits of the prime system. Rides awesome.
Mainstay connects binding. Connect softer high back, softest strap. A more surf. I kind of feel someone that’s looking for softer ride is gonna be really happy on the connects and the connects to is for the rider that wants nothing but stiffness. It is the stiffest sidewall. Stiff is high back and the Stiffest connection to the board someone that’s just really interns everywhere or someone that’s maybe a bigger rider that can never get enough stiffness out of their binding look no further than the connect ci.
Whether it’s a stormy morning of surfing low-angle powder in the trees or a clear, stable day perfect for checking iconic lines off your list, you’ll enjoy getting after it on the Venture Women’s Oracle Splitboard. With its moderately directional shape, Straight-Line Rocker, and medium flex, this split helps you handle every aspect of the backcountry with confidence and control. The Straight-Line profile places flat underfoot to provide stability and edge hold on hardpack and steeps, with rocker at the tip and tail for float and forgiveness. A long, wide nose keeps your tip up in the deep stuff and gives pow turns a surfy feel, while a stiffer, tapered tail provides drive and control when you’re charging.
Precise craftsmanship and attention to detail prevents sloppiness in the seam so the board rides more like a solid snowboard, allowing you to shred technical lines with confidence. It’s also equipped with a Carbonium topsheet, which is textured to prevent icy buildup on top of your board. Aspen sourced from within 100 miles of Venture’s Silverton factory keeps the core lightweight, and ash and poplar stringers maintain strength and snappiness. Triax glass gives it pop and responsiveness while maintaining torsional flex so you can hold a mean edge. The castor bean topsheet reduces the need for petroleum-based products to boost eco-friendliness, and the sintered base is fast and hard to resist damage from hidden rocks.
I’m Lisa with Venture Snow Horse; Silverton, Colorado. We built all our force from scraps right there in the heart of San Juan mountains what we’re. Looking at right here is the Paragon. This is a newer board in the line. It’s all-mountain and intended to kind of be a quiver at one. You can ride it anywhere and like all the ports in our line, you can see, it’s available both solid and slit. If you’re venturing out of bounds or want to get into the backcountry we have your cover there. Next up we have the Felix a directional twin so those that are little more freestyle oriented will find this is a really good choice that they like to ride.
Switch the graphic on. This is featuring topo map of the Silverton area so this is actually Sultan Peak right outside of Silverton. That you see here just tying it together a little bit with where the boards are actually made.
Next up we have stormed which is our flagship freeride board. Probably our most popular model. This has some paper and stance offset. A nice wide Shovel, so really pops out the snow and does great in a variety of different snow conditions. This is probably my favorite board in the line. The one that I write about.
Here we have the Odin. This is a big mountain board so if you want to make three turns top to bottom, if you like to go at max speed, this is the board for you. Really excels in steep terrain. I have a shallower sidecut than the rest of the boards in the line so it’s going to make big wide arcing parents.
This one here is our Euphoria and this is a powder surfer and a powder specific shape. As you can see, it’s got a super wide nose, a cool little fishtail that helps your back leg thank you, and it’s 27 centimeters wide so lots of surface area for slope motion. And then over here we’ve got our women’s offerings on the Oracle and a Tempest. And these are the women’s versions of the Paragon and Storm that we talked about over there more of an all-mountain shape for just riding in bounds with the resort. A variety of conditions and then a pretty rad shape for ladies that want to take it into bigger terrain. So, that’s the Venture Lineup.
Bored insiders your snowboard resource I’m lisa with ventures snowboards, and we. Are a silver ton colorado based company that builds all our boards from scratch and I’m here to tell you a little bit. About our 1112 lineup to show you here. How a slip board works essentially what. I’ve got here is our storm split board, and we’ve got a pair of spark r&d; binders on here this is a split board specific binding and so it’s fairly easy. To get these on and off there’s a pin that slides out and then you just slide. The binding right off and as you can see there’s a puck system right here and in. The bottom of the binding is a slider track that allows it to go on and off so. That comes off pretty simply pretty easily we’ll do that here on the back foot now. Pin coming out. Binding slides right off so now you’ve. Got just the board itself here that you’re going to want to get into ski mode, so we’re going to flip this clip on. The tip same thing down here on the tail. And then we’re just going to slide these. Two halves apart now you’re in ski mode so you’re going to swap it like this so. That you have your side cut on the inside edge for better control and then. You’ll take the binding and it’s going. To attach right here using that same pin. On this pivot point and then you’re. Essentially going to be able to use it like a tele binding while you’re skiing. So that’s the basics of how that works it’s really a very efficient way to. Switch between modes and it’s way more. (Efficient) than snowshoes in the back country for the latest snowboard. Reviews check out board insiders com.
Here we put together both splitboards and bindings from famous and reliable brands. Depending on the terrain you are going to ride, you may need some special features as magnetraction or effective edge snowboard.
Keep in mind that splitboard has more joints and movable parts. That’s why you should select your splitboard and its bindings taking into account all conditions. It will help you enjoy your board many seasons.
