Hi everyone welcome back to my channel today. I want to talk about the flip belt and the reason I’m doing this review now is because, when I did my recent upload, which was about my favorite ways to carry water on a run, a few of you messaged me and asked why I didn’t include this belt saying that did I know that the belt also had the potential to carry water. I did know that, and I’ve actually got one of the bottles that go with the belt, but there’s a reason.

I didn’t include it in my favorites and I’ll. Explain that to you as we go on in the video let’s get started, so I’ve got two of these belts. The first one is the classic belt, which was I’ve had this for a couple of years now and the second one here is my newest one, which is the zippered one. I think they’ve made this zippered one um to make it more secure at the front, but um nothing’s ever fallen out for me, because the idea behind the belt is that you place your items in these in these open pockets.

All around and then flip it over around your waist, and it holds everything very securely, so I’m just going to use this belt to go through this review. So so one thing I love about the belt is its capacity. It can carry such a lot with you. So here are some of the items I take. So I take my phone with me and you just open the slots and slide the items in so that’s the phone in there also obviously keys quite a big bunch there, but what’s great about this little pocket here is it has a clip, so you can pop those on there and know that they’re going to stay put during the run, so I put those in there two items turning over.

I also like to take this really useful little purse with me. I carry some cash in the front and then in the zippered bit I just carry a credit card for emergencies and then I’ll slide. That, in another thing I like to take is always take with me- is some baby wipes, which I just keep in a little bag talking of that bag. Actually, if we go back to the front, I mean this is summer now, and it’s not raining very much, so I don’t think about this as often, but I do take tend to put my phone in one of these as well, because this is not waterproof.

I have been out when it’s rained and the phone doesn’t get very wet, but um. It’s on my mind all the time. If it’s raining, I’m worried about my phone, so I’d pop it in one of these little waterproof bags before I put it in there now. Another thing that does fit is a couple of gels. I don’t tend to use these, but I’m just sort of showing you that you can carry these in there as well, quite quite happily so.

Moving on to the bottle, this is the flip belt bottle custom made for the belt, and it’s as if you can see it’s got this gentle curvature to this side here, which actually is fantastic and makes it super comfortable against against your body weight wherever you choose to wear it now. This is where it kind of falls short for my favorite ways to carry water. First of all, there’s only 300 ml in there you can get another couple of small bottles or another large one, but then for me, I’d be filling my whole belt with water and wouldn’t have the space to carry all the other items.

So I’ve just got one of these and I do use it so basically, I like to put it at the back. I definitely like my keys to be attached to the the clip and I definitely like to access my phone a lot during the run, taking pictures and different things, so my chosen place is here at the back, so what I tend to do is flip it first because then you get the curve right against your back. So let’s turn this around like this.

So this is how you would wear it you’d step into it and wriggle it up over you over your waist or hips, wherever you want to wear it now. You can open this and then just you’ve got you want that to be against your body, so you just slide it in like this. It goes in quite easily like that, and then can you see you’ll have that gentle curve against your back and it’s very, very comfortable. The only thing is it’s not on impossible to access this when you’re running, if you wear it like I do at my back, I’m sure flipbelt would say I should wear it around the front, but it’s not so bad to pull out.

So you can pull out and and get your drink, but getting it back in whilst you’re on the run is very difficult. The other thing that I’m not keen on on this bottle is I find this. Let’s push it down at the moment. I find this cap very stiff. I almost feel like my teeth are going to go, trying to pull it up. I can’t get it up now. There you go. It’s up now, but maybe with more use, it will loosen up a bit, but it’s it’s a stiff tops um, it’s an it’s an ingenious curved bottle.

I love that idea, but for the reasons I’ve just said it isn’t one of my favorite ways to carry water, but the belt itself is one of my favorite ways to carry other items on the run. Now you can get this belt in lots of different colors and also in different sizes and flip belt, have a handy size chart on their website, so you can decide which size works. For you, I’ve got a medium. It needs to fit really snugly, you don’t want it to be loose at all, so it keeps everything really secure against your body.

It can go into the washing machine. So it’s easy to wash now flip belt, maintain that the belt will hold all sizes of foam, which is fantastic. I’ve also heard that there’s a new flip belt elite, which has is waterproof and has extra non-slip coating inside and also has a clip, I think at the side. So you don’t have to actually step into the belt that you can just fasten it, but I haven’t seen one of those yet there’s also some cropped, leggings and shorts, with a flip belt built in as the waistband, so lots of great stuff coming from flipboard.

I can’t wait to try it all, because it’s definitely a really fantastic piece of kit. You.

Running outdoor highly active pan, dudes I just bought this from my carbon. It’s a running belt and it looks kind of interesting, so I thought I would check it out. You know maybe another runner, which is fine, I’m, not judging you, but these running belts have I found have been really useful for other things. You know day hikes walking around working in the yard, the other kind of well, you know when people started criticizing fanny packs, we just made the pain pack smaller and rename them and I took care of it.

So it’s more of a marketing thing that I feel, but this is a my carbon and it kind of has like a little bit of a carbon fiber texture we’ve in the nylon, pretty light it’s much lighter than I thought. So, let’s just start on the front here you have a one of these big plastic buckles. You have a pretty wide like an inch and a half wide nylon band. It’s pretty sturdy and stout. It’s certainly adjustable here, so you can adjust it. You also have this loop here, which has a reflective material on it on both sides and adjustable on both sides, so it should fit a wide variety of body sizes, tip sizes, whether you’re starting or a seasoned runner, and then that webbing rolls into the hip pad.

Here you have like a quarter of a nylon material on the inside, and then you have a pretty nice little overlap where you have this padded area with the strap. Now it’s not thickly padded by any means it’s more of just a flap, but you can see here if we open this up on the inside. You have breathable mesh on the inside so especially because this part of the press up against your body should kind of allow for evaporation. You do have a looks like a pocket on the inside here, so more of a security pocket again the breathable mesh.

Now this is a little bit thick here, so you can kind of see that I think that’ll kind of provide some nice comfort. But if you were putting you know driver’s license credit cards, you might want to put it on this inside pocket. Possibly and then you’d be able to zip it up, or you know it’s probably going to be. You know I, probably maybe call it more. The security pocket, but you also don’t want to put anything in there. That’s going to be pressed up against you that you don’t want to hear you know just sweat on or anything you have a little sewn in lanyard here with a retention clip and that’s going to presumably you’ve used with this pocket.

So if you have keys or something important that you want to lose, you could potentially put it in this outside pocket. So you have a main pocket right here, open that up looks like not only reflective material but neon green on there. So that’s going to help protect you while you’re on you know the road biking hiking walking whatever, but then you could cook the keys on there put them in here and then zip them back up and so that little loop in there would actually be inside the pocket, see and kind of a little bit of extra security plus a pull on the zipper, but inside this pocket we have.

You know it’s all nylon lines, and then you have a little divider here, a mesh divider, not padded, but just a little mesh divider to hold kind of separate things, and then you have on this side. You know additional pockets, but this is a pretty big there’s, a pretty big pocket. Overall, you can put keys a smartphone of all of that all the above impact and then right here on the very outside. We have fun, look there’s a little headphone loop if you are still using quartet headphones. Presumably you put your smartphone in there rather headphones of air I guess so we have this pocket here.

Let’s see what this thing is pivot, something pick bleep check it in here. So if I open this up, ah all right I was kind of wondering where this part was when I saw it originally advertised. It had like a water bottle in the pictorial and I, get why it did now and where it is or isn’t so what’s interesting. Ah, it’s pretty cool, so you have a reflective, strap here and then all this packages inside this outer pocket. But what this is is a like: a water bottle sleeve, and so you unzip it and now I can stick a water bottle like almost a pretty good sized water bottle right in here and the really cool thing is, you can see these nylon straps here, which are actually it’s like a four-piece strap that is a water bottle holder, but they’re sewn right here in the middle.

So if you want your water bottle to be pulled out from the left side or from the right side, you can move these kind of the elastic straps to either side so that you know whatever hand you prefer use to grab your water bottle. You know if it’s on your front or your back or whatever you can change this, so pretty clever I’m, pretty impressed with it. Definitely you can put kind of a normal-sized water bottle in there and roll with it. So here it is. This is a my carbon running activity belt and I.

Think pretty impressive. Not only can you carry stuff with it, your smartphone keys credit cards whatever, but it also has this pretty nifty and ingenious deployable water bottle. Holder, so that you can carry a water bottle when you need it, we always need it should always carry water. It is the my carbon belt put a link to in the description pick it up. Today, I have a review of the Nathan speed shot plus insulated flask and I won this from a little giveaway online somewhere and I’m pretty pleased with it it’s insulated, so it can keep your beverages a little cooler. This is the Kentucky blue. What I really liked about these honestly looking at the website here, is that they have a lot of cool colors like and with all their bottles like nathan is nailing their designs right now.

This to no fusion coral is a badass color, but the Kentucky blue is good too, so they this one’s, a 12 ounce. It has a really nice cap, its a durable cap and I haven’t had any issues with it thus far. I wish this was a little wider because, let’s say I wanted to pour like if I have a large like container of a Gatorade type beverage. The scoop isn’t much smaller than this, so bottles need to have bigger caps. Bottles need to have a larger mouth than any scoop and that’s something that brands need to get get their their button mcdeere with.

So that’s a complaint, but that’s a pretty universal complaint. It would be a big bonus for Nathan if it was a larger mouth, it’s not around a bottle which I really like it’s flat, so it fits really well in here and since this is a 12 ounce, it’s small enough where you can run, and you really don’t have to hold on to it. It fits so well right here tip if you need to use your hands flip it around, and then you have two hands here. If you need to mess with something else, but um.

One thing that is a negative with bottles like this versus a a round bottle, is that with this I can’t quite get it squeezed as easily as if it was a round bottle. So I have to it’s such a problem, but I have to do a little more work with like sucking it out, rather than just squeezing it out. So that’s kind of an the nature of I find anyway, the flatter more narrow bottles versus the round models, but this flatter shape is more comfortable in the hand.

So there’s some give-and-take with that. As for the design of the handheld itself, it’s it seems pretty pretty sturdy I like that. It has an extra little grip right here. This is this is more narrow, it’s more narrow of a strap here then I often see so I, don’t know. If down the line, that’s gonna be an issue, there’s less stitching, because it’s it’s half as wide so I, don’t know I can’t say for sure. But anyway it’s a good bottle. It’s easier, it’s easier to remove from here compared to others that I have, which is just a nice little thing when I’m washing it.

It’s nice that it’s not a huge struggle to get it in and out of this, so yeah, it’s a great bottle. I would recommend it. It’s $30 at their website, Nathan sports com. They have a lot of great products, so check them out, but yeah this is, they have a lot. They have a lot of different bottles, but this is a speech shot plus insulated flask, so check it out. I wasn’t say when you’re no Daisy Johnny Ringo you’re, no Daisy Oh, Johnny Ringo. You were just a little high-strung good morning, family of fast Matt Mossman, the chief endurance officer over act, IND early comin atcha with another on biased, endure elite gear of you. Now today, we’re gonna take a look at the Nathan Speed draw plus handheld hydration device. Now a lot of you know: I’ve been training for a marathon and I’ve been scratching my head, trying to figure out what I’m gonna carry with me to hydrate and fuel during the race.

I know, I didn’t want to Camelback or anything that went around my waist or over my shoulders. So I decided that I wanted to go with a handheld hydration flask, but there are a ton out there to choose from and on a whim I decided to purchase this Nathan Speed draw a plus for myself to see how it worked and I am actually pleasantly surprised with how good it is. So today, what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna briefly discuss the technical features of the Nathan Speed draw, plus insulated handheld hydration device and then kind of tell you what I like about it within what I don’t like about it.

So, let’s get started from tip to tail and discuss some of the techno features. The first one is the valve on the top is pretty handy when you’re running you don’t have to pull anything up to get a drink or a bite down and pull up to get a drink. It actually operates on a valve, so all you have to do is put it to your mouth. Squeeze it and the fluid comes out really really easy and, as a bonus, no fluid leaks out of it as well. So the valve design was really smart on Nathan’s part. Now it down to the flask.

The flask has actually double wall insulated, so it keeps your drink cool. It holds about 18 ounces of water, and it has a really nice ergonomic design. So it feels really natural, as you wrap your hand around it. Another feature is a sweet, little pouch on the front to carry all sorts of like gold bars and monies, and things like that. Maybe your keys are a cell phone, but for my purposes during the marathon I’ll, probably stash a few gels in here to use in conjunction with the sustain elite I’ll put in the flask now the last feature and what makes it really a nifty handheld hydration device is kind of this neoprene web that you slip your hand through, like that, put your thumb through, like that and you’re good to go.

So that’s some of the technical features. Now. How did it perform since I’ve been testing it for the last few months like right away? My biggest concern was that you know any kind of hand held hydration system is gonna annoy the hell out of me like I’ll notice. It’s there and I’ll be focusing more on that than my actual race, but I was pleasantly surprised when I slipped, the hydration flask on or the nascent speed draw flask on and kind of, tighten it down. It actually isn’t bothersome at all.

It’s not too heavy. It’s not too cumbersome, thatís, not the fit, is nice and snug and, most importantly, you don’t have to grip this thing while you’re running so you can stay nice and relaxed and not feel like you know, you’re really crunching down on something to keep up, keep a hold of it. So really like that about the flask really like the valve, really like how it kept my drink cool and really like how I can kind of store some goodies in there if I, if I need. So those are really the pros of this handheld hydration system.

Now the only con- and this is just getting a little nitpicky- is I wish. It was just a little bit bigger where I could carry about 20 ounces of water as opposed to 18 I know it’s only a two ounce difference, but I got to give you at least some cons, because, ideally during the marathon, depending on weather conditions, I’m gonna be wanna, drink anywhere from 16 to 24 ounces, so 18 ounces won’t be too bad. You know, 20 would be a little better. You know I could say you know I would like 24, but then I have a feeling that this flask will get too big and would become too bothersome.

So I’m definitely gonna be using this during during the marathon or during the race, and probably what I’ll do is I’ll try to drink one of these an hour mix two scoops of sustain in here and then by about two more three more of these and then stash them along the course. So I can basically hydrate from start to finish and only have to carry one simple thing with me to get all my hydration get all my calories and make it simple and easy to use with also not being a big bothersome system.

That’s gonna weigh me down, so that is the Nathan Speed drop, plus handheld hydration review. Hey guys, what’s going on today, I have a it’s. The Nathan speed draw plus 18 ounce. This thing is sweet. It’s probably my favorite handheld water bottle to date. So let’s just get right into it here she is all 18 ounces over. It does come with the pouch on front and if you need a good bit of storage space in your handheld water bottle, I would say that this one bust quite a bit. So actually, let’s just get into it in this handheld I, have my key some door lights, Larabar and my phone, which is not in there right now, but you can see that fits in there and that’s a I phone five, something other I can’t remember decent sized phone, so yeah I fit all that stuff in here now, I, don’t take all that stuff with me and I go running but I know a lot of people want to take a good bit of stuff with them a lot of the times.

I’ll just take I’ll just take my key and really when it comes to this bottle. That’s my only complaint is I. Don’t know come on up, but there’s there’s no little strap in there or any kind of little dividers to help hold your key down. So you know when you’re running you get the jiggly key thing, which kind of gets my nerves. Now you can remedy that by when you put your key in there, you can kind of put it in horizontal and jam it down in there, but you got to be careful.

You want. You want to rip through the fabric on the side, so I’m kind of keeping watch, while not don’t be obsessed with anyone, be totally distracted with your key when you’re on top and then yeah. This thing this thing’s sweet put some water in there, so I could show the race cap cap in general. That cap does not leak which I have had caps in the past, the do leak and that’s not cool man when you’re running you know 1015 miles and you count on your bottle to hold your water and you look down.

Oh cool I’m out four ounces of water. You know so, if you’re like me, you got every ounce of counting four. So you not want your cap to leak, but it comes with the race cap. So you get the race car and get the sweet little bag thing here, and you know you get the nice little bottle as well. It’s got a pull, strap on the back, which this thing works: great clamps down, clamps down perfectly it’s easy to adjust.

If you don’t like this thing, flapping around, when you’re on then I just tuck it in and you can tuck it in the hand, strap or whatever or you just tuck it under the actual strap. So you know where you cut it off. I, don’t cut it off because I know I’ve cut it off and I need it for some reason, but the strap is sweet again. It has the thumb which you know is true. True, hands-free running I, just I love it.

So much and a good thing about the thumb is no I. Don’t hear this talked about a lot. Maybe it’s just maybe I’m looking in their own places, but a lot of the traditional hand held bottles. They don’t have the thumb they do this. So, if I’m flying down a trail and I need to be grabbing trees, how how am I going to grab a tree like this, but like this I can grab a tree and I’ve done it and it’s not.

Obviously it’s not as easy if your hands are completely free, but you still have the ability to somewhat you know, grab a tree or or whatever you need to do. Yeah, it’s a sweet bottle, I love it I, love use a lot and again it’s got the nice. It’s got the nice lining on the outside. It’s on the inside, so it’s rich. It’s really comfortable, there’s a decent bit of padding right there. The padding is just right here and I, really like I, really like this I.

Have this problem in the past with another model is try it when you try to get it out of the case super-easy, it’s got a little more flexible stuff. It just comes right out. Look at that. Oh man, I, love that comes right out of that and what’s sweet about this bottle on its own is I. Have that’s why I’m wearing this hydration best I have the Nathan fire catcher hydration best this baby fits in fits in there perfectly I, don’t even have to clamp it down right here.

You don’t even have to use this I just pull right out. It’s awesome, I love it and it’s since the back of the bottle is flat. It lays up against your chest. Just awesome, I love it because I’ve tried to use round bottles and now I’m, just not feeling it. It just feels goofy to me it’s just it’s really weird and this bottle was just so much different, I’m, so obvious, I, just I’m totally into these bottles.

Now absolutely I’m, not a big I, don’t like the hydration bladders I’m, not really into that. I prefer the bottles, and these do they just sit nice on your chest. So, typically, what I do is I, take a 20 and a 10 or 18 sorry, but I call the 20 and just put those in my best, mostly because I don’t have another 20, but uh last time, I checked you couldn’t get you couldn’t get just one of these bottles.

You had to get the whole deal so maybe now you get replacement bottles, I, don’t know and I think I want to say when I bought Beck’s I bought that several months ago it was, it was 25 bucks which is awesome. Price I think I got no problem with that price. At all another cool thing about the case is it? Has this I don’t know like it’s like that, rubbery stuff, that non-slip stuff you know so when it when it goes in the when the bottle goes in the case, since it is that more of elastic stuff it, you know, your bottle doesn’t slip around.

It’s pretty sweet. So that’s my review of the Nathan speed draw plus 18-ounce and it is sweet, can’t say enough. Good things about it. Get yours today, like comment subscribe, do what you do. Happy Trails.

Okay, so today we are going to switch different product today, we’re going to review the Nathan speed, draw plus water bottle for runners walkers, and no light hiking. This retails for approximately twenty five dollars at your local store, running, store, athletic store. Those types of things and I purchased this a couple weeks ago for training runs longer than probably six miles in my prep for the San Francisco Marathon, it’s the first time I’ve ever ran with anything like this and I have to say, yeah it’s.

It’s not bad I’d like to go over some of the features of it and what I think they could make with some improvements. So, first of all, you’ve got the nice bottle. It’s thin. It’s maybe inch and a half wide flat on the back. It’s got the nice harness that comes with it with a carrying case up front. A carrying case is really good for something like these big bars. They just slipped right in I ran the other day with one in there, as well as my keys, and it was perfect.

They also advertise. This case is good enough for the iPhone, and this is the iPhone 5s same size as the five I gather, but it’s it’s a snugger fit and you know it fit there, but it’s going to get might to rub the fabric a little bit wrong and might wear out after a bit so I would remove. The case fly was going to do that if I was going to put my phone in there, this has some unique features in it.

The way this harness functions, your hand, just kind of slips right in and your thumb comes up through that loop and it’s supposed to leave your hands or your fingers free. The concept behind that is is that the more you’re going to squeeze the more tension you’re going to put in your arm the more attention you’re going to have in your shoulders, your back, etc and I have to say this. Actually, the design of this harness works flawlessly.

Here’s where the downside is you get this nice neoprene fabric here, but it’s up against this flat plastic bottle and within about a half a mile on warm day your hand will be sweating profusely right here and you’ll can constantly want to change hands, and all that really does is just give you a chance to drive the other one out for just a second, a recommendation on that would have been to put the same fabric you strip with this down the back, and that would eliminate that that way, you’ve got fabric on both sides.

The other thing is: is it’s got the ounce markings on the back here? I guess: maybe you need those if you’re going to mix an electrolyte drink or something else or if you just can’t, handle all 16 ounces of water if you’re, only good for maybe 10 that day, you’re you’ve got the ounce marker again, that’s pretty bad back there. It doesn’t really matter, it doesn’t work. What would have been a better idea is to put a sight tube right down the side with the ounces marking down the side.

So at any moment you could take a look and you could go: hey I’ve only got 8 ounces left or, if you’re going to mix something hey, I need 10, ounces or 12 ounces. That would have been much better put it on either side and you would have been good to go the ounces in the back here. It just doesn’t work. It’s it’s irrelevant a great feature. This is this positive pressure port in that, if you squeeze or if you suck on it, it will automatically open an internal flap in there and you’re good to go.

You don’t have to pull something out with your teeth. You don’t have to try to close something you’re, not getting water all over the place, so it works. It works really well. Like I said this is the first time I’ve ever bought. Anything like this. Most of my runs are shorter than 6 to 7 miles, but I’ve ran with this the last three days and I, like it other than those minor flaws. I. Think it’s great.

It’s the Nathans speed drop plus I picked it up for $25 at my local running store here. In Northern, Nevada and I’m sure that they’ve got a website as well other than those minor things. I think this is a great product. I think you’ll think it’s a great product, give it a try. Let me know what you think.
