Around my hand so i can tell that you. No i could be out and really cold temperatures and that cold air isn’t going to be able to penetrate through because of the ample amount of insulation brought on by the liner as. Well as in the mitten together so really. Nice room really warm gloves they’re just wonderfully warm while being super. Lofty now because their mittens they’re not the most dexterous gloves out there. But they do offer more warmth and more. Insulation than you’d find in a separated five finger glove so really. • Yes so when this is the mix action. Jacket and i love it’s one of my favorite jackets because it fits amazingly well it’s like super trim really trim here it’s got very high pockets which above your harness line, and they’re big as well as he can put those just after now if you want like gloves and all that sort of thing when you lift your arms up it doesn’t move at all which is just brilliant because it. Never pulls out your harness its got like long arms these are completely waterproof and the reason why we did that is that if you got a rucksack on. And it rains a little bit it pushes water through a soft shell normally so this is completely waterproof it drags your elite and the arms take your waterproof as well but the body is as. It’s its way more breathable than a jacket that’s got any type of membrane on it so wearing it walking up here it’s. It’s just great it maximum readability here and then you’ve got water protection on their arms and shoulders. It’s just great you know can look down. On my harness i can see on the gear i don’t have like loads of bulky bulging. Material and there ain’t no one’s got about 300 layers on i only got two yeah. It’s important not to exaggerate alright. Then.

I’m wearing the mountain hardwear men’s exponent jacket this jacket is a really. Good balance of price and performance it’s lightweight but it’s durable and it. Gives you the performance you need to be. Waterproof to stay dry and rainy conditions and just be comfortable on a long backpacking trip or hike the jacket. Is built with 40 b rip stop material and it’s mountain hardwear’s vapor dry technology it’s a two-and-a-half layer waterproof breathable membrane that’s designed to just keep you cool and dry while you’re out on the trail this. Material is breathable but sometimes if. You’re working on a steep climb or you’re hiking hard you’re going to generate a little bit more body heat and it’s not going to breathe as quickly as you may want it to so mountain hardwear gives you pit zips under each arm to. Help dump that extra heat so if you’re really working hard if you feel that you’re getting hot or clammy inside the jacket you can open up those pit zips and really dump that heat while maintaining protection from those elements so it’s just an added benefit to the jacket there the jacket does have. A full length center front zipper and that’s going to protect a little bit from the elements but you do have a storm flap behind that to just prevent. Any leaks so you’re covered there in the. Event of a serious down for the jacket. Is also steam taped so all the stitching areas have seam tape behind them, so they are also waterproof to enhance the fit. You do have a draw cord hem at the bottom just one full on the right-hand side to. Really cinch that down so it’ll stay in place it won’t ride up on you or become. Uncomfortable you’ve also got velcro at the cuffs of the jacket so if you’re wearing gloves if you just need to cinch this down a little bit more you can do. So with that velcro super quick and super easy to get the good fit down there the jacket does have a hood so you. Do get the full coverage protection and. That hood is pretty large it’s large enough to fit over a climbing helmet if you’re taking this out climbing and it does have a wire in the brim here to hold up in serious condition so if. There’re driving winds or anything a little bit stronger you do have a little bit more structure in that hood you’ve also got. Adjustments at the base and at the back. To really cinch it down if you need to but you are going to get full protection from that hood and when you zip it all the way up there’s a nice little zipper garage there so it prevents it from chafing or snagging any beard hair so that’s always pretty nice overall this. Is a pretty nice rain jacket it’s abrasion resistant it’s durable it’s lightweight you can move in it pretty easily and it does give you the extra. Venting options that you may want from a waterproof breathable shell it’s perfect. For backpacking hiking it does pack into. Its own pocket so you can actually reverse this pocket on itself and stow. The jacket away so for travel purposes. For clipping to a climbing harness that’s always a nice feature to have but. Overall it’s just a simple and effective rain jacket it’s the mountain hardwear men’s exponent jacket thanks for. Hello I’m gonna get a brief review today. On my mountain hardwear epic jacket i. Don’t remember if it’s a 2011 or 2012. Edition had the jacket now for probably. Six months i think I’ve had a pretty good break-in period used it for fishing. Hiking camping traveling and just. General around town use as well so this. Will just get started here some of the. Features on the jacket i was not really. Aware of whenever i bought it I’ve researched lots of jackets the marmot. Preset and patagonia torn show a couple. Of others as well i think maybe a sierra designs was another one they all had a. Lot of really cool features that i liked i just happened to be having a trip. Coming up and walked into a local. Outdoor store and this one happened to. Be on sale the day i was there and i liked it and like the color it was very lightweight and so i went ahead and picked it up some of the features on it. I guess I’ll while i go through I’ll point out the positives and the negatives in my opinion anyway has a. Very nice hood on it’s got a semi. Form to bill here on it also has a. Little big closure in the back here that. You can use to adjust the hood for your. Specific head shape size whatever you’ve. Got a couple of full tabs here to tighten the hood around your face and. Actually the loop tensioner for the. Where the two pull tabs is actually inside the material you can’t actually touch the black. Spring-loaded tensioner but if you is. You push inside the material here itself you can feel it just push down on the spring-loaded hinge and you can even straighten the. Hood off that way so that’s pretty nice because that doesn’t get in the way that’s that’s pretty good little feature the front weather flap here. Doesn’t have only got a single flap on it nothing well there’s a partial flap. Here on the inside but there’s no velcro or anything on this black for you to secure it to the other side of the jacket for full weather proofing us. Which is i haven’t had any problems out. Of it but it’s still not the best design in my opinion but it works pockets. Pockets are very large very roomy. However they’re not meshed so mesh pockets. Would be pretty cool for additional ventilation i haven’t had the need for. Then yet i get plenty of ventilation. Through the fit as its it zips are very. Easy to use very large pit zips very. Comfortable so really the pockets are i. Can’t really give it a negative evaluation on the pockets there like i. Said they’re functional they work fine and i haven’t had anything inside thing get wet i had this jacket on in rhode island. During a heavy rainstorm while we were. Attempting to go out on the ocean to go on a striper fishing trip and i had my. Cell phone in my jacket pocket for. A significant amount of time while we were out in a very steady rain shower. And my phone never got wet and actually. I never really got wet as far as everybody goes of yourself. Anyway cuffs have a fishing loop. Close your system here too so you can. Customize that to fit however tight or loose you want lower him of the lower. Hem of the jacket as you can see also has a pull cord with a for the tensioner. On either side and actually the. Tensioner is fastened to the inside of. The jacket via a little piece of. Material here so that way you don’t have this tensioner bouncing around and. Everything when i compared this jacket. To the others like i said i bought it because it was on sale i like the color and i like the features of it this. Jacket i believe when i got it home it’s. A medium when i brought it home it. Weighed in around i think it was 11 or. 11 1/2 ounces and comparing that to for. Example like the patagonia i think the patagonia was 12 or 13. Ounces give or take it wasn’t much more than that but i actually fought my wife a ladies medium marmot precis and. Even though it had mesh pockets and a. Lot of the same features that this jacket had the material was a lot. Thicker and a lot heavier and it came in at around i think around 16 ounces so there was a so pretty close to right at a pound so significant difference in. Weight and materials it seems like my. Major downside and complaint with this jacket is and i some of the reviews online said something about it and reviews online tend to be as I’m sure. You’ve seen since you’re reading this we’re watching this one you tend to get. The full spectrum of reviews but. Usually the far extremes are the people who are raving about something wonderfully or people just cursing it. Because they hate it news it’s awful so my biggest complaint though was the. Waterproofness of the material i realize it’s not a membrane jacket is just a. It’s just a nylon material jacket so. It’s its subject to you know it’s just. The fact that the material is waterproof to an extent but you don’t want to keep it out in a lengthy amount of lengthy rain shower for it or a heavy down shutdown for a very long period of time so i have recently had issues with. The thing not keeping me very dry so. Today i took it and i do it the washer. And just no detergent just just. Water basically just to tumble it around a little bit just to clean it up just a touch i took it out and hung it up and i. Coated it heavily with revive ex durable. Water repellent and used a blow-dryer on. It to set the revive ex and then i just. Did a couple of samples on the sleeves and then the water appeared to start beating up again on it next time. It rains I’m going to take it out and try it and see what it does but it appears to have at least temporarily. Solved the lack of waterproofness that i. Have experienced here as of late with it. So hopefully that’s a good thing as you. Now a $10 bottle revive exponent once. Every four to six months isn’t a very. Big expense especially if you can get yourself a decent jacket for less than a hundred dollars that will last you one other thing about this jacket was it’s not billed as a jacket that stuff’s in. Its own pocket however as i mentioned. The pockets are quite large i actually. Do when i travel an airplane or generally on air travel anyway i got. Actually stuck this jacket into its own. Pocket thank for that you just grab it you can. Shove it in you can say it’s pockets not. Really made for this because it doesn’t have a zipper that pops out but for the. Pocket itself is already there and you. Just have to kind of stick your fingers. Down inside it from the inside and you. Can pull it out and you can zip it up that way so if you can see it or not. Look right here’s the here’s the. Zipper from the exterior of the pocket you just grabbed a little pull tab and. You can zip it up and so you do have a. Nice little stow able jacket right there in its own. Little included stuff sack and it is a. Waterproof stuff sack so there you go a. Review on that mountain hardwear epic. Feel free to leave comments like this do. Whatever you want to do just give some. Feedback if you feel like it but i hope this helps somebody in their quest and. Research before they purchase a jacket take care.

Everyone on chip for big lines and we’re. Here at the chateau lake louise enjoying a beyond belief weekend we’ve been skiing up at the resort at lake louise and just having a time here i thought. I’d walk you through this hell gate jacket from mountain hardwear that I’ve been product testing it’s mostly a shell. There’s no insulation with it and it’s a. Pretty hardcore jacket and so I’m gonna tell you about some of the things that i like with it so the number one thing. That i like about this jacket is the collar it pulls up nice and high and you. Can really hunker down in a storm if you need to i really like how the collar is. Lined with a really nice fleece and that. The zipper tucks inside this pocket the. Hood comes over a helmet really easily and if you really need to protect. Yourself this is a great way to do it so. One of the other things that i like about this jacket are the cuffs and. You can see that I’m wearing a mint this. Is the decline barren mint and you know. The real crux with a caller is if you. Can put your second mitt on and kind of. Seal it up nice and tight with mitts on. And that’s really easy with this jacket. So great caller great cuffs the third. Think that i really like about this jacket is the pocket when i ski touring. If you want to do quick change overs this pockets nice and big you can. Stick your skins in there if you’re. Skiing the resort you know you can fit a whole six-pack in here no problem and so. I just really liked how much space there was inside the pocket another feature of. This jacket is a powder skirt which is. Removable i can’t really think of a. Reason why i would remove this but it’s. There if you want it so overall you know the jackets pretty tough i like the way it’s constructed mountain hardwear is. One of those great companies or it’s got a lifetime warranty i think vanning the zippers blow out or if it stops getting waterproof you might be able to send it back so that’s always nice and overall i think it’s a great. Resort jacket i think it’s really good for slack country touring i think it’s good for slut sky i think it’s a slightly bit too heavy for hardcore ski touring. Days but if you’re looking for one jacket that does it all this might be a good bet for you so the hell gate jacket bro mountain hardwear thanks a lot of guys and see out there.

A steve taylor here giving you a quick look at the spider boys challenger. Jacket it is a ski jacket that is very. Sharp looking it has good coloring good design they. Spilled spider wrong, but we’ll have to live with that and the red black and. White just looks fantastic we’ve got a lot of pockets we’ve got a nice one here I’m doing this one-handed so i won’t be able to move it rights it’s got its insulate so it’s very warm but yet not. Really big and bulky it’s got pockets. Here on both sides it has a pocket on. The inside the hood has an inner line. Hood here as you can see this so it kind. Of hugs on to your face the hood is removable through the collar here which. You can’t probably see because it’s black but it velcros into here so it’s. Actually removable and it’s its. Zippered here in the back so completely. Or you can just take it off partially. It’s nice and long so it’s that’s nice. We’re going to go ahead and open it and sorry for the bad camera work doing it one-handed this is a nice hefty. Zipper the inside here has the snap so. Basically it will snow. Stay snug on your body and instead of it. Floating and flopping around there are pockets on the inside there’s one here on this side that’s velcro and then. There’s there’s one on here which is. Kind of big net right here i guess you can put your goggles there if you’re actually using this for skiing and as you can see there’s velcro on the inside of the zipper area to hold the jacket. Nice and closed the cuffs have the extra. Material here to hold it down and. Plus you can put your thumb through here. To hold the sleeves down when you’re doing active things so it really. Actually is a ski jacket and it looks. Fantastic and yes it’s its pricey but this is a top top-shelf quality jacket so hopefully. You found this review helpful I’m steve taylor for amazon.com.
