  • Very sad day in the grundy household my 2012 model architects sabre jacket has. Effectively died the zip is broken for. The second time and their seams are falling apart i loved that jacket the good news is my. Wife surprised me with an unexpected Christmas present of this the architects 2018 model sabre lt jacket so i thought. I’d do a gear review of this So arc’teryx for those who don’t know or. A canadian company who pride themselves on making high-quality outdoor gear and. Looking at their website under the shell jacket section you can see they make a lot of them and the sabre lt jacket. Price-wise comes in about number seven on the british site five hundred pounds. That’s a lot for jacket but high quality materials and precision craftsmanship come at a price i did take some comfort in looking at the other international pages and seen it’s about the same price in the different currencies often is the. Case that as british you have to pay more for north america products so that’s a win so what are the features of this sabre lt model well lt stands for. Lightweight and the most obvious thing to me comparing my old sabre jacket to this sabre lt is this lining see how. This saber jackets got kind of like a furry almost suede material to it on the. Inside where’s the saber lt has a sort of lightweight almost tent fabric feel to it and i can feel the weight difference when the jackets on and in terms of this jackets intent and features architects describe it as being a weather protection for big mountain free ride touring it’s presumably designed for weather protection in back country skiing and snowboarding ie. Windy variable weather with lots of powder everywhere i want to get up through the gaps in your jacket and that last sentence is key this jacket is cut. To a longer length in both the arms and the body which makes it a little bit odd for everyday non mountain use check out. The sleeve length extends way past the. End of my wrists i suppose the idea is. It will run down a good way past a snow glove and stop the snow from going up. Into your wrist but actually there’s not much gap there for me it’s quite tricky. Too even with that velcro strap off to. Get that over what is quite an old glove. These days but geez so yeah that is. Pretty tighten would be good not very. Much space for snow to get it there when. You’re doing your thing so yeah good. Design for the snow. Bit weird for everyday use of course i. Realized this glove is designed to go over a jacket and you guys are thinking good because you’re acting like you didn’t but yeah like the gloves a bit old and it’s got way too much room there to let snow in sir but in the jacket. Over it’s an interesting option and a similar story with the bottom of the jacket this is a medium size and it’s a. But tight now you could probably argue. That maybe i should have gone for a large size but i don’t want the jacket to be too big or too billowy and then architects is defense my hips and thighs. Are probably a bit bigger than average just measure myself it’s about 41 inches wow that’s powerful. Anyway i thought I’d show you that size just in case you’re worried about your own measurements so it does fit but. Again it’s tight presumably to stop snow. From getting up above your ski trousers. And the length it is longer but not. Really a problem for everyday use just. Need to lose a few pounds in the diet maybe and if i compare it against my. 2012 sabre jacket which is also a medium. Zip screwed there’s a lot more room. There so i don’t know if maybe they’ve. Cut the lt bit tighter and then there’s. The herd which is cut super big so you. Can get your. Slides over nice and easily still quiet. A bit room there for the head movement. Yeah that feels good. Another bonus of having this extra large herd if I’m out on a night hike and i. Want to put this snazzy 15000 lumen head. Torch on and it starts raining head can. Go er just rests over the lip of it stops the rain getting into the torch. And short-circuiting bonus no architects. Jacket video should be deemed complete until we’ve done some kind of celebration of the craftsmanship of these seam zips fixings and logos so. I’ve got the light box out here’s my little montage celebrate’ in that roll the tape Oh my god i promise you architects have. Not sent me this jacket for free i think I’ve just got too much spare time on my hands okay time for the all-important water-resistant tests I’ve got this green t-shirt on that should show any wet spots that get through the gore-tex or the seams let’s do this. Okay pretty aggressive wrench out pretty much. Fully dry it passes that test and the. Next topic is zips and happy to report. This saber lt has got a lot of them now. I use my jacket mainly for hiking dog. Walks and occasional snowboarding and the extra zips are really useful for. Putting all the various nubbins that i want to carry it on my body if I’m not carrying a backpack and versus the regular saber jacket this saber lt has a separate zip in the front. Here which i find incredibly useful. Because from hiking i generally have a. Copy of maps on my mobile phone and this. Filming on the phone so I’m using this but it’s about the length of a long phone and that slips in there really easily and then there’re two pockets on. This slightly wider left-right and. They’re pretty roomy in there you could. Put gloves or hat in. Still keeps it quite compacts then i. Think most sabre jackets have these pit zips which for me I’ve got quite a high metabolic rate and these are essential. Just to let out some of the well the. Armpit heat keeps it well ventilated and. Keeps bakula from building up a lot of heat doing strenuous activities and inside this was similar on the sabre we’ve got another little precious things. Zip that one’s not so deep actually used. To find it difficult to get a mobile phone into that one previously and then. You’ve got this mesh net thing here i never really feel too safe putting any precious things in there in case it bounces out so don’t think I’ll use that very much and then there’s the our feed zip on the top of the arm there which is. For you know snow sports people where they want to put their season pass in the badge and just badging on the lift. Gates a slightly strange thing about. This it’s the same sort of foam bar in this. Pocket i have no idea what this is used. For it’s right sewn in to the inner. Lining of the jacket i think we need. Some answers below if you know what that’s for i can’t think of a purpose so yeah who. Knows what that’s for maybe it’s an anti-theft device but it’s there you don’t generally feel it’s weird just. Looking back at the architects website. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear if a lot of people chose their jacket model based on price color but also zips available. And it’s really important to me and to be honest i wouldn’t want any fewer zips than what’s on this sabre lt so in terms of the jackets having this zip layout there’s that one the. Sabre lt but not much else really so hmm. Interesting and just for a review completeness it’s got an integrated power discourtesy. Call trademarked slide and lock. Attachments if you can see those now i. Don’t use this i don’t have architects. Snow trousers in fact i would consider. Actually in the future that’s quite a nice design to further reduce the amount of snow. That can get up the jacket and right. Over the top of your trousers okay so let’s conclude this video by. Taking this puppy outdoors and see you. Now she performs. okay so outdoors apologies in advance. For not testing this jacket in its intended location the big mountains that. We spoke about before not snowboarding this year so I’ve just brought you out. On the dog walk and yeah it’s pretty mild at the moment 10 degrees c got a. Light wind and i can’t comment for all. Architect’s jackets but certainly the sabre and sabre lt are excellent at wind. Proofing to the extent you don’t really. Need many layers on underneath so long. As the gore-tex can shield out any. Windchill so yeah excellent can’t. Complaint with that but yeah 10 degrees c you know. Just got a cotton t-shirt on and I’m perfectly warm certainly when you’re doing some sort of activity if it drops. To 5 degrees c i might go for a light fleece or if it was zero or belief I’d. Go for a thicker fleece but yeah. Generally they do an activity you don’t need much in the way layers and in fact. The whole point of these shell jackets. Is that you use layering to get to your. Desired in a temperature comfort zone. But yeah as we’re speaking at the beginning of the video the strangeness of this lt jacket is the long arm length. However when you go out on a slightly. Chilly day it does have the advantage of being able to pull your hands up into it. And it gives a wind shield protection on. Your pinky fingers so I’m sure that’s. Not how architects intended it but it. Works but i guess the main problem with living with this long arm length is I’m sure. The cuffs are going to get dirty more as. A result i can already feel in it touching more services just as i move. About it’s not looking too bad at the moment where it’s fairly new but i just know that’s going to get really dirty where it’s constantly down around my. Wrist and palm area now of course the. Whole point of this velcro strap is to. Position that where you want it and. That’s okay if i really want it out the way but generally i like a bit of air flow up into my wrists and don’t like to. Do that all the time should have bought. A different jacket really but i like the lightweight this of this one and got too. Much dirt on now to send it back. So that’s about it guys on this jacket review i think I’ve covered off all the. Stuff i wanted to say about it give me a like if any of that was useful in assisting your purchasing decision or just general liking for architects products and consider subscribing if you want to hear about more of my new videos coming soon

  • Hi this is peterglenn.com and I’m here. To show you a really warm comfortable very usable glove this is. The cirrus sound touch extreme all-weather glove like i say a little bit of a mouthful but fantastic products. This is a really warm glove waterproof windproof and you’ve got. These great little silver spots on the fingers what they do is allow you to use. A smart device as you can see i can open up my ipad control things real easily. Open stuff up go to things and i don’t. Have to take my gloves off my hands stay nice and warm i can take pictures i can. Do whatever it is that i want to do keep my gloves on all the time I’m not trying to hold my gloves underneath my arms hoping they don’t drop while i use my phone I’m more likely to keep them and. You know your hands are only warm as long as you don’t lose your gloves get yours today I’m peterglenn.com. You.

Hi everyone this is coby and in this. Video I’m going to be doing a review of the cirrus all-weather sound touch gloves okay these gloves are basically the same. As the original all-weather gloves by. Cirrus and that’s the only difference being that they have the touch screen. Capability right there which basically. Allows you to use the touch screens so. For example in ios device they work through that which it’s nice because. Let’s say you’re snowboarding and. Someone calls you and you need to answer it you don’t want to have to take your gloves off these you can just use the. Gloves which i think is quite amazing, and they’re also a lot like warmer and a. Lot kinder of weather resistant because these aren’t waterproof they’re. Water resistant so like if you dunk you’re handsome in water they might leak. But if you’re just like putting your. Hands in snow and doing kind of general. Stuff maybe it rains a bit you know. They’re going to not let water in like i snowboard that the whole day today and it was maybe about 40 degrees. I didn’t get my hands wet at all which i. Think is pretty amazing like him hands warm so what i plan to use these as is. Gloves I’m planning to use them that’s kind of my main glove for just doing. Stuff so i need the gloves in like outside cold stuff and i can use my. Touch screen which will be nice and then also using them for like going. Snowboarding on warmer and kind of mid. Temperature days so now I’m going to. Show you using the most a touchscreen. Okay so the only parts that actually work with the touch screen are the index. Finger and the thumb so you basically. Just you know it’s just like normally. Using your touch screen sorry for the light in but I’ll just have to make do. With it and then the thumb work fine as well so let’s go into notes I’m. Trying to do this all see with the camera as well so that’s why okay so. Let’s try and do some type in you. Kind of have to press a little harder with the thumb that’s what i found, and they’re not the most accurate since there’s a big area to touch on the screen but let’s see if we can write something without messing up i found. It’s easier to use the finger to type spa. Okay there so as you can see you can. Text with these pretty easily by. Lighting is not very good for ipods i guess but you can type, and they work. Just fine so I’m just writing test. There’s my ipods lag and sorry for that. But anyway as you can see the touch screen feature does work it works quiet. Well actually and i recommend these loves. Not necessarily for this feature but. Mainly for the fit of the meets they. Fit really well they’re very comfortable and i think they can be used for a lot. Of things so now let’s go on to my final. Opinion of these gloves okay so my final. Thoughts on them are i would get them if your someone who needs a pair of. Gloves that are going to be warm work for pretty much whatever you want to throw at them and needs the touch screen. Feature even if you don’t have a touch. Screen or you don’t plan on using them for that i would still recommend them but if you’re going to get them and not. Use them for touch screen i would go with the life just the standard. All-weather ones because they would then. You could probably sit a bit of money but I’m sure you can find these on sale. Their standard price is about $50 but. Some places have them for like $30 and. These it dick’s sporting goods were on. Sale for i think like $29 and they had. Like another 20% off there or something. Um you could get them there that probably won’t last for long though these might have been the last pair in this store I’m not sure but anyway you. Can find them on sale and i think. They’re and i think they’re a good glove there’s some of the better pairs of gloves I’ve had and i do recommend them. But if you’re if you already have good. Player pairs of gloves i wouldn’t just go out and get them because it means he’s already have them but i do think. You should probably get them. If you want to use a touchscreen feature. But my favorite feature is just being. Able to have a super comfortable thin. Love that’s pretty much waterproof and. It’s really warm so that’s it for now i. Will see you all in the next video.

Has to be one of the most frequently asked questions i get any of my winter trip videos or when it’s cold out is. What kind of gloves that I’m using the ones that i typically wear especially when I’m doing any sort of camp chores where i need that fine dexterity for doing things are this cirrus all-weather. Glove hyper light is the addition of it and it’s extremely thin waterproof gloves they basically advertise it as an ultra-thin glove or just a waterproof liner you know it helps wick away. Moisture it is wind and waterproof the. Fabric itself it is not seam sealed so. Anywhere where it is sewn together it is technically not waterproof so after hours and hours of handling wet. Snow you know your hands will be wet but. No issues with your fingers being cold the material is flexible enough that it. Maintains the warmth problem with some. Of these liner gloves in order to maintain that dexterity they are so restrictive that your hands can actually get colder because it’s cutting off the blood circulation kind of like wearing tight socks your feet can get cold in your boots and it really has nothing to do with the boots it’s just your socks are too tight now as you’re seeing right here these are about two years worth of wear and i admit i could probably get. More wear out of them if i hadn’t of. Treating them as sort of work glove slash can’t glove half the time they’re so comfortable to have on and so useful. And that dexterity is so fine that even. Like i have a video that i haven’t posted, yet we were building some buck saws. How’s the next dirty that you can. Actually work with you know nuts and bolts and screws and things like that so i admit i have used these probably. During some fire craft i probably shouldn’t have picking up hot pans you know this is a. Vinyl material so it does have the ability to melt actually use them quiet. A bit during in the morning helping out changing irrigation when the pipes are basically frozen its kind of like that the old adage you see on the movies of the kid puts his tongue on the metal pole well for your hands get wet from eating the snow around and you’re handling this basically completely frozen irrigation pipe you’re gonna want gloves on and although i didn’t get any. Scars really for that you know the liner in here i think is mostly from fire craft in over two years they’ve just sort of worn through and basically see. More than their usefulness so i went to replace them with basically the same. All-weather glove but the originals as. Soon as i get these off here i will show. You them, and they are a little bit more neoprene type material they are thicker. And they are softer on the inside i will. Say they’ve got more of the polartec. Lining which really helps with the wicking when you’re doing a lot of stuff, but they get these on here because of. The thicker material although these are just as waterproof just wind proof keep. Your hands nice and warm you start losing that dexterity now these are. About where most of my winter gloves were previously they are a little bit. More comfortable they are warmer you know they’re a little bit more waterproof etc they still will work as a good liner glove in anything there’s a. Little bit more reinforcement in the. Palm and finger areas for your high wear as you can see none of the actual. Reinforcement on the hyper lights got worn it was just all the spots where there weren’t any so there’s a little bit instead of just on the pad it comes all the way down into the palm as the reinforced area so essentially the same. Stuff weather shield tri-lamb it’s just the hyper light is quite a bit thinner and unfortunately they didn’t have it in the hyper light that i think. The only hyper light they have locally here was they have a new touch version. Where the pads are able to activate like a touch pad well i thought maybe my. Tablet was charged it’s not i was going to demonstrate the hyper light i could find locally here is a new touch. Pad one that all the finger tabs work. With your touch screens and i will say that the hyper lights worked with my cell phone i never had a problem accessing the cell phone with these gloves on even though they’re not the touch version i may probably go back and. Buy the touch version so but because i much prefer the thinner hyper light these are good gloves, but they’re to the. Point where you start loosing that dexterity, and they’re not as good as the. You know huge over glove mittens that i. Have so basically you want something. Thin waterproof that you can wear that you can use by putting up camp and things like that and doing chores around camp without wearing your really heavy gloves and this sort of is kind of in the middle where it’s almost approaching that too thick of a glove to really do much other than i mean you can definitely wear these in ski with these and everything else but it just doesn’t. Fill that niche that the hyper light versions did so i recommend the hyper lights you do will have to be careful if. You want to get anything over two years out of them as far as you know wood fire. Craft cutting chopping wood and things like that handling hot items that’s gonna melt the cloth all the common-sense things that most you guys probably already realized however just because they were that comfortable i sacrificed them and didn’t. Change out the gloves like i should have and this is the result so i will. Probably be taking these back and picking up the hyper light versions if i can only find the touch that I’ll probably be getting those but i recommend you looking into the cirrus all-weather versions there’s a couple. Ones they do have one that is fireproofed i have a feeling it’s it’ll still melt. But it probably won’t catch fire like a lot of the new fireproof you know mod. Acrylic things are and i probably won’t get those or recommend those because i. Have a feeling that they would still melt they’re not fireproofed they just won’t catch fire and.
