The Solution Series consists of Black Diamond’s sportier climbing harness, and the Men’s Solution Guide Harness is slightly modified for trad crags like Indian Creek or even longer multi-pitch climbing like Red Rock. It’s mostly the same as the original Solution, with the exception of the Super Fabric exterior that boasts advanced durability for chimneys, offwidths, and rubbing against the rock on hanging belays. Apart from that, and the fifth gear loop for items like gloves and cord, the Solution Guide still features the same Fusion Comfort Technology that uses two separate strands of webbing to balance comfort and lightness. The single waist buckle is easy to cinch on and off, the elasticized leg loops are easy to move in, and the detachable risers allow drop seat functionality.
So new for spring 19 the solution guide. Harness so what we did with this is we took the solution harness which is a great comfortable awesome harness, and we said let’s make a super durable kind of. Designed for trad climbing and chimney and grinding and like just a super burly rig it’s almost the same geometry not. Quite exactly it’s a little wider through the waist for a little more support we kept the same gear loops fixed legs of course same belay loop we. Added a fifth gear loop in the back if you want to hang your gloves or knife or belay device or whatever you want to do back there it still has your zero can tag line to tag a line but the really cool feature on this guy is this fabric. That’s used on the leg loops and on the waist and it’s called super fabric which. Is not very exciting but that’s what it’s called and it’s incredibly durable so the reason we picked it is for the. Guys that are lying back at indian creek and like grinding in the chimneys in the valley and stuff like that it’s i don’t want to say it’s indestructible because you can break anything if you try hard enough but it’s really super durable and it’s some kind of laminated epoxy ceramic dots onto the fabric or. Something it’s really cool we also have the women’s women’s comes in this color called coral which is a different on the legs there so this replaces our kaos. Harnesses kind of our big wall free. Roots sort of rigged at 99 bucks. It’s a great harness that’s literally gonna last you forever available in January 99 95 394 grams out. While you know engineering team army of. Folks over there when they were tasked with hey we need a new fabric that’s really durable we have a guy here that. Burns through a harness a month like just grinding up the creek you know just lay it back and usually right here on the legs is what takes the biggest brunt of the wear, so we just tried a bunch of different fabrics and literally just gave it to him and said go, and then he would come back and you just go i mean you go that’s no good and so these guys hunted. Down this company called super fabric, and they had this fabric for our purposes it ended up working out great and it’s super durable and at 99. Bucks the kaos used to be 129 so a. Really great value for the super durable big long free root heather guy we’re. Girl he’s still along a sample yeah for. Real it’s good yeah so it’s pretty nice. 99 bucks.
Hi i’m colin power the climbing category director black diamond and this is our new vision harness this is the lightest. Weight full functioning harness on the market 224 grams designed really for alpine climbing for gear loops low-profile gear loops for. Ice buffer slots a super thin. Low-profile belay loop fixed legs it’s super packable and really lightweight. Like i said 224 grams so having a. Lightweight harness is one thing but having it really packable is another so it takes up less space in your pack not exactly on the comfortable side of the. Scale though a lot of the guys have been wearing this thing sport climbing and it’s like totally fine really really minimalistic 149 95 available in january. Of 2018. Pretty sick it’s pretty sick what we did. With this was we took our kinetic core construction from our zeno center chaos. And our ethos this is really the guts of that we stripped all the shell and everything off and left the the bare bones basically the skeleton so this is. Vector and fiber super strong doesn’t absorb water really packable really lightweight made the width balance. Between comfort and pack ability way more comfortable than you would think but it’s alpine rig it’s designed for alpine climbing no adjustment on the leg loops you know the only adjustment is the waist belt to get it on and off and this belay loop is super cool it’s. Basically one strand of super high-tech. Fiber that’s wrapped around like a doughnut and then wrapped in this casing. So it’s not like that most belay loops are a piece of webbing that’s folded into looping and bar tack so that’s how we could get this to be so strong and so small and it’s way way way over built we. Could even make it smaller and it would still meet all the requirements but it would get to the point you’d be freaked out we actually played with the diameter. Of this tubing a lot because our other. Have thicker but then it’s it’s not as. Packable we found this to be a good balance between functionality and pack ability if you put nothing on it then it’s really hard especially with gloves and jackets and stuff in packs some ski mountaineer is gonna wear this you go to the tetons you want a real harness that’s really light in packs well 224 grams that’s insane it’s only 5 grams i. Think heavier than the kawar which i would classify as not a full functioning harness you know yes you can wrap it and. Stuff like that but you know it’s got the diaper legs and no gear loop you know that kind of thing so this is like got everything you need on it called the. Vision because we thought that these climbers that are looking at these crazy north faces in the mountains like they have the vision to link up these ice smears and stuff this is the kind of harness that they want to wear sadly we. Made it for kyle dempster that’s who we made it for and he had our first prototype when we lost him last fall you. Know we made it for those guys for kyle haydon kennedy urban novak you know. Marko appraisal like these kind of dudes you know that are really pushing it but of course anyone can use it for anything they want but we really wanted to make it for those kind of guys that are pushing the limits in the mountains.
A burlier version of the TX2, La Sprtiva’s TX3 Men’s Approach Shoe is well-suited for everything from high ridge crossings to brushy approaches with multiple creek crossings. The shoe’s lightweight polyester mesh upper is breathable for hot summer days and dumps water quickly. The shoe is supported by a full-wrap rubber rand for extra protection from abrasive terrain and is fitted with a Vibram Techlite toe rand for extra purchase on more technical approaches. Underfoot, La Sportiva gave the the TX3 its MEMlex midsole for comfortable cushioning and added a Vibram MegaGrip sole for a sure-footed feel on high, exposed traverses.
the shoe we’ve got a board lasted construction so that gives the shoe a lot of really good stiffness and torsional rigidity so it’s going to maintain its edging power and climbing
The Metolius Safe Tech Men’s Deluxe Harness is one of the best fitting, safest harnesses in the world. The Men’s Deluxe is a beefed up version of the All-Around and is designed to lend maximum support to the lower back while simultaneously providing unparalleled freedom of movement. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside with a tough 1050d Ballistics outer layer and a polyethylene foam with brushed inner lining, it is ideal for Big Wall and long Trad routes where comfort is crucial. Metolius’ sophisticated adjustment system lets you fine tune the fit by adjusting the riser length; that is the distance between the waist belt and the leg loops. This harness also boasts the world’s toughest and longest wearing tie-in points. Every component, including leg risers, the gear, haul, and belay loops are engineered to withstand a load of at least 2250 lbf (10kN)—that’s FULL strength and typically the max impact force rating of a modern climbing rope. **ABOUT SAFE TECH HARNESSES: Due to an alarming number of accidents involving the misuse of harnesses and/or the failure of harness components, Metolius designed their Safe Tech Series with every possible margin of safety in mind. The structural systems of the Safe Tech harness have been made as redundant and error-proof as possible, e.g., the waist buckle even shows the word ‘DANGER’ if not correctly double-passed.
The Garmont Men’s Dragontail MNT GTX Approach Shoe has the same stability and support that most alpine boots have, except a low-cut grants more freedom to move. Garmont gave this rugged, leather-made shoe a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane for wet weather protection that’s still comfy in warm, sunny conditions
Underfoot, the Dragontail MNT features a dual-density, microporous rubber midsole for stable support, and there’s a foamy, cushy PU insole that breathes for extra comfort. Vibram’s reliable rubber comes in a Maton tread to give this shoe’s sole plenty of traction on any terrain. There’s also a FrameFlex Lite footbed that moves with your foot from heel to toe
The iconic garment woman’s dragon tail. Lt gore-tex approach shoes are ready for. Whatever you have in store they’re versatile enough for hiking, but they perform really well when scrambling on. Rocks to approach your climb let’s start. With the bottom the point of contact with the ground garma created a shoe that will work well. On technical rock mixed terrain approaches scrambling and even light. Hiking so the outsole is really meant to. Do it all it’s made of tried-and-true vibram it’s thinki enough for rock but. It’s durable enough for long miles so it won’t break down as quickly as some. Other types of softer sticky rubber that. You might find on approach shoes or even climbing shoes back here you’ve got a. Blocked heel strike area and the same. Blocking on the medial forefoot that’s. For edging so all the while they give you a lug pattern in between that’s perfect for hiking on those dirt trails. You’re sure to encounter some rocks and. Some loose gravel so these lugs are. Going to keep you on the trail and make sure that you’re sure-footed you can see three different colors in the mid sole. Grey yellow and red and that’s not just. For look the grey part is a medium. Density so that gives cushioning and comfort and you can see it goes all the way around to the other side now the yellow part in the back is firmer so. That gives more stability where you need it in the heel and then the red part up front is densest and the most. Durable this is kind of what i call the. Climbing zone of the shoe and you’re going to want densest material up. There mixed with what you have on the. Outsold the red dense part of the. Midsole really gives support you don’t. Want your toes to flex too much and. That’s going to give all the support you need for edging as you approach your climb on top of all of that you do have. A soft footbed it’s removable. Just take it out here and show it. Definitely provides a lot of cushioning there’s denser material here than. I’ve seen on some other removable. Footed and i think what they tried to do is give a nice soft place for your feet to land be kind of you have such a. Rigid mid sole on those long miles those. Heights this is going to keep you a little bit more comfortable the climbing. Style lacing is great for dialing in the. Tightness you prefer over different parts of your approach so leave them a little bit looser when you start hiking. But then when the hike starts to get more technical you can adjust those laces all the way down to the toes you. Can see the laces are kind of asymmetrical here and garmin actually built this entire shoe to mimic the. Natural asymmetry of your foot it’s. Called they’re anatomically directed design or abd this really cuts down on. Open space in the shoe that could lead to rubbing or blisters that mixed with. The lacing and this heel lock in the. Back will actually ensure a really good snug fit all day long also so wrap. Around so rand here in the front reduces the impact of kick rocks and roots and. Really protects those toes this is a gore-tex shoe as the name suggests so. It’s going to keep out water so long as. That water doesn’t come up over the top of the shoe the outsole in general is. Constructed of a few different materials but overall it’s a really durable suede. That suede is going to last a long time. When you’re encountering sharp rocks going to show some wear and tear and. That’s why they’re using such a durable material they’ve got overlays here but. Then they have some other kind of textile materials synthetic materials. Around the heel that you can really snug in and then again you have that rand because all the way around so that protects the suede even more and you’ve. Got the same material in the back overall the fit is pretty narrow these. Are approach shoes climbing style shoes. So they do want to give you a nice snug fit especially up here in the toe box. Again you can adjust the lacing for more. Comfort but if you’re not used to approach style or climbing style shoes if you’re just used to hiking shoes they’re going to seem pretty narrow but. They’re kind of meant to do that they’re meant to be able to snug down and give you a tight fit all throughout the shoe with the features here you’re getting a. Durable reliable shoe for all different. Types of turing’s there’s a garment women dragon tail lp gore-tex shoes. Thanks for watching if you have. Additional questions about the gear you just saw please feel free to visit that country edge comm and get in touch with. Me or one of our other gear specialists we also have technical specs about that. Here on the product pages of our website and often times we have bonus videos if. The garment men’s dragon tail lt gtx is. A well-balanced shoe for the person who wants to go for a light day hike but might end up scrambling on some fourth class rock they’ve got a sleek technical. Look and many features that make them perform well across the board for anything short of heavy-duty backpacking. The (upper) of this shoe is built with a. Suede leather it gives them a sleek technical look it definitely doesn’t. Look like your everyday casual shoe so if you end up wearing these downtown you will look like you like to do things outside inside unseen is a gore-tex. Extended comfort lining the entire shoe. Is waterproof and breathable under those. Exterior leather fabrics for lacing. Climbers like to have the ability to really dial in the fit all the way down to the toes these laces reflect that perfectly with garment but where you’ll. Have what they call their anatomically directed design this means that the shoes are created to mimic the foots natural asymmetry which in turn reduces. The overall chance of blisters or hot spots you’ll need to make sure you’ve got the right socks on for that to really work out though in the middle of the shoe again unseen is the frame flex. Light insole this is going to provide. Extra stability in the shoe for edging as well as carrying gear on rough trails. And descents visible is the tri micro. Porous rubber mid sole this actually has three different densities to ensure. Comfort and performance you can see two of those gray is the medium density and. Yellow is the firm density there’s as well. A very firm density and therefore lowest compression and climbing performance basically you’ll get stiffer materials. As you approach the front of the shoe to increase that climbing performance of the footwear, but they stay nice and soft. In the heel area for hiking in and out the outsole is a vibram q 811 outsoles. The semi block heel area gives you more durability and a semi blocked medium. Forefoot area enhances edging performance the compound on these are built to increase stickiness and. Durability over all the grandmont men’s. Dragon tail lt gtx is the perfect shoe for the hiker. Climber or someone who wants a lightweight shoe that does it all waterproof grippy and very rugged thanks. For watching if you have any additional questions about the gear that you just saw feel free to visit back country edge comm to get in touch with me or one of. Our other gear specialists we have detailed product descriptions and specs and often for a lot of our products we. hey it’s andrew with audra gear tv today. We’re doing a gear review of the garment dragon tail mountain gore-tex let’s go over some of the features and then I’ll talk about performance after that starting from the ground up the dragon tail has a vibram outsole with 6 millimeter deep lugs and an edging platform on the front and back the mid sole has a dual density rubber mid sole a pu heel insert and a removable. Insole the upper is made of 1.8. Millimeter water repellent suede and has a rubber randor on the front and back and laces that go all the way down to the toes for added stability the dragon tail mountain gore-tex boot weighs in at one pound of 4.7 ounces per shoe if. You’re looking for something lightweight and agile these are probably not for you think of these as a solid pair of mountaineering boots just trim down to ankle height that definitely comes with some pros and cons these have really great rock protection incredible durability, and they scramble really well. Their only downfall just like all mountaineering boots is that the break-in time is pretty rough i would give it about 75 miles before they get really comfortable but once that break-in period is passed you’ll be reaching for these just about every day they’ve performed really well for me i would highly recommend them head on over to our website for my full written review thanks for watching it’s been andrew with outdoor gear tv get your gear and get outside. You.

Hi katie here is get out their magazine. This is my review of the arc’teryx conseal fl approach shoe the conseils. Have lots of great features my top three. Would definitely be vibram soles nice. Long lacing so you can get just the. Right tension and to grab loops to help. You really get your foot in there the. Con seals are super awesome they’re really grippy issues are great they’ll. Totally get you to the top or the bottom of your climbing area I’ve been rock hopping climbing and even. Hiking in these shoes and overall. They’re really awesome shoes they’re. Lightweight they’re super grippy, and they’re you know decently comfortable on your foot you’re nice and lined on the inside for me i. Find these shoes fit really narrow so. They are they’re cut pretty. Narrow and i have a very wide foot so i. Am I finding them to be a little bit pinchy right here at the widest point. And i also found the sizing to be like. Totally out of whack with most other shoe companies for example i usually wear a 39 and that would equate too about. An eighth or an eight and a half these are a seven and a half us, but they are a. 39 and a third european so i got the 39. 1/3 thinking that would fit me i usually wear a 39 and i don’t mind having a little extra room for my toes but my big toe on my big foot only comes. Up to right here so I’m not really. Getting to take advantage of the little rubbery end of the toe and when i. Have been climbing in them they my feet. To sort of slide forward and backward a little bit i also found the back gave me. A fair bit of pressure when i was taking in them it’s not really their intended use so do. Take that with a grain of salt also i think there’s extra pressure because the soul is quite stiff and it’s intended. To be that way of course so that you can edge and smear and you know really make. The most out of these shoes. Did i say yet that i love the color is awesome it’s like great teal color goes with lots of things it’s really subtle so I’m a really big fan, and they’re just really like sleek and sexy looking so i have no. Complaint about shoe oh that it just. Doesn’t quite fit my foot so that’s all. Right there’s lots of brands and styles out there so these shoes are awesome and. If they fit your feet you’re probably gonna love them forget out their magazine I’m katie and that was my review of the arc’teryx concealed approach shoes for more info about these. Shoes head over to arc’teryx calm then. Be sure to subscribe and follow get out. There magazine on our youtube channel You.
