Gear and beards today is gonna, be another gear, video and I’m, going to show you how I modified a backpack to fit my needs so stay tuned to the intro. Alright guys we are back if you’re new to my channel and the bearded outdoorsman I do hiking videos, gear reviews, beard, product reviews and tutorials. Today, we’re gonna be taking a look at a backpack that I picked up off of Amazon, fairly inexpensive, picked it up a few years ago, but it just didn’t work for me, and so I did some modifications to what we’re gonna look at today.
It’s backpack from mozone m-o-z-o-n-e, alright. So this is what they consider a 45 litre packable day pack as what they consider it. I’ll put a picture here. This is what it looked like when I bought it, of course, just a different color. So it came with a top brain. Basically that had two pockets. It had an outer pocket and had an inner pocket for me personally when I have a pack that has that I end up putting too much stuff in it ultimately make them unpack too heavy.
So, just one little tip one little piece of advice: if you’re new to hiking you’re new to outdoors the bigger your pack that you purchase the more stuff you’re gonna put in it, the more stuff, you’re gonna think you need and the heavier your packs going to be in the long run. So I’ll downsized I went to this 45 liter pack has a chance to downsize and I was able to get my pack down for the next. Once I got this my very next weekend hike.
My pack was less than 25 pounds so, but I’m gonna show you what I did and give you my take on this particular pack and what I did to to modify it. So, first off I took off I cut off the top brain. The entire brain portion, I took I, cut that off and I just went to the fabric store in Vault, just basic black ripstop and came in where the brain would have had a drawstring here, brain laid over and clipped.
So what I did was wear the drawstring was I cut. The drawstring out took in and sewed in this rip. Stop here then, set it here and what that does. It gives me a little bit more room to pack kind of my bigger stuff, my clothes or my hammock, or my under quilt, that kind of thing and I added some velcro to the top, just as an extra little closure. But then, when we stitched it, I just took a piece of the nylon that was around for the drawstring and just seemed it with that.
So I added these buckles back. They were on the brain to clip the brain down, and so what I had to do was because they were more towards the front of the pack you can see. This is where they were I cut. The was that the male end of the clip I cut that out from here and moved it over here to the side. So when I roll, my top down it clips down on the sides the, but what this has given me is, it gave me basically, it turned this 45 liter pack, almost into a 50 liter pack, but without the pockets, so just collect stuff.
That’s what I found in my years of hiking is with various bags. If you have a lot of various pockets that don’t have a good use for them, like these side pockets did a water bottle really well. So if you don’t have something like this, if you have something else that doesn’t have a good purpose, you end up putting miscellaneous things in there and overloading it and it gets too heavy. So I carried this pack.
I would not recommend this pack for over 25 pounds, I carried it with a little less than 25. It was fine. It worked well, the straps are not the most comfortable. This is considered a day pack from ozone, but I carried it for weekend hikes on the Appalachian Trail carried it for three day. Hike. Two nights three days had plenty of room for my food, my water, my clothes, my hammock, my everything, I needed for my sleep system, so I didn’t didn’t scrimp on that.
I didn’t have to leave anything at home. That I would have needed actually hike in the fall, so it was a fairly cool trip. So I had enough for my jacket and everything in here and again, the only problem I ran into was the the straps weren’t super quality super padded, and actually, when I was redoing, this I undid the straps and I added a little bit of foam inside the straps, and it made a little bit of a difference, not too big, but it does.
This pack does have the sternum strap. It does not have a waist belt, but I also added these loops on the bottom. So I can, and if you can see these great ones are on the front. These black ones are on the back, so I can add something under here and tie it off so like big sleeping bag. If I was going to need the big sleeping bag or anything for that matter, you can pretty much tight down here, strap it on.
It’s got this front mesh kind of stretchy elastic material here and what I usually carry when I carry this pack the way I carry. It is I, have the collapsible platypus water bottles, one liter, so they fit really well right here, as well as like a smart water bottle. They fit really good here and then I would keep my I’d keep a ziploc bag with toilet paper and my bag with my water filters, my Sawyer filter and all that stuff.
I’d keep it right here, so it was easy access and then everything else went into the guts of the bag. It does have a it’s, not real big, but it does have a thing for a water bladder and but there’s no port and I, don’t think it had a port I think you just had to run it out of the drawstring if you wanted to use it in its original form. But again, this video is its kind of twofold. It’s a review of this bag, which I think is a really good bag of quality for what it is and for its price.
It’s a really good bag. In my opinion, number two to show you that you can take any bag any outdoor gear. Get you a sewing machine play with it, learn how to use it and you can modify your gear to fit your needs because that’s what we want companies aren’t going to fit. What your particular need is, so sometimes you have to modify stuff. Sometimes you have to make it work for you and and basically you’re hiking, your hike.
So if, if you don’t have enough pockets, add pockets if you’ve got too many pockets cut some pockets off, so you don’t overload it because I personally can attest to. If you have too much room in your pack, you will pack too much stuff I’m not going to get into what how some heavy some of my packs have been in the past. But let’s just say we we’ve learned over the years and and I think this was a huge step.
For me, this was the biggest step for me to learn that I could go a lot less weight than what I’ve been doing because you go with a smaller bag and you tell yourself: I’ve got to make it work, guess what you’re gonna make it work and you’re not going to carry anything, that’s not necessary. So if you found this video helpful, please hit that subscribe. Button hit that, like button drop me a comment. Let me know if you ever modified your gear.
Have you ever have you ever modified any any particular piece of gear that just wasn’t working for you and you wanted to make it work and you’re what you needed so drop me a comment. Let me know what you think and as always from the bearded outdoorsman stay bearded get outdoors and god bless you.

Black Diamond Bullet 16 Backpack 16L::Versatility in a sleek, trim pack, the Black Diamond Bullet 16 panel-loader is an excellent rig for off-trail or high-mileage scrambles. An external zip pocket and internal mesh pocket keep things secure, and removable foam back panel, tuck-away shoulder straps and easy-to-remove 20 mm webbing hip belt make pared-down travel a cinch.
Hey everyone this week, I’m reviewing the multi-use Black Diamond bullet 16, liter, backpack I picked this up at a local outdoor recreation store at about July of 2016 and I. Think it’s the perfect size for day trips. Somebody carry your stuff around and, while you’re out and about in your city or town, take with you on a trip or even a day hike. This pack is lightweight only about 520 grams. It’s made of nylon reinforced with something called ballistic nylon, which gives it added durability.
Black Diamond says that the pack is tough enough to be hauled through chimneys. Now, I haven’t gone that far to try and test out how durable it is. So I’ll just have to take their word on it. Unless any of you who have been taking it out chimney sweeping what I like about this pack and something to consider for those of you looking for a lightweight grab and go bag, is its clean design, its size that you can use it for lots of different activities and most of all, I found it comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
The bullet has a volume of 16 liters, and it’s made up with two compartments. The smaller of the two is about 20 centimetres deep. The main compartment has a small mesh pouch with a clip, so you can store the keys or the small news items. There’s a foam back panel that can be removed a hydration sleeve with a post port plus the bullet has a removable hip belt, something I personally never used. I took it off as soon as I got the backpack now reading up online about this backpack you’ll kind of see that its use is more geared towards serious outdoor activities.
For those of you doing stuff, like rock climbing, for example, we’ve got a lot of gear with you, I, don’t think this pack is for you. Why is that? Well, a negative critique I have about this pack. Is that there’s nowhere on the exterior to attach here that you might carry such as ropes or other accessories, except on the shoulder straps, which I think might be a bit inconvenient? Let us know in the comments what you think. Another thing I think this pack is missing- is a water bottle holder inside the main compartment, even though you can insert a hydration pouch, sometimes bottle is more convenient overall I’m really happy with this backpack and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone and for a capacity of 16 meters.
It does hold a lot on one of my recent city trips. This was all that it took with me on my flights and in it I pack, the change of clothes, a few toiletries, some snacks, it’s a few other things for the flights, as well as the day out and another cost point for traveling with this bag. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, so you can easily keep it in your seat throughout your flight. Do any of you have a favorite multi-use backpack leave a reply in the comment section and tell us what it is and why, if you enjoyed this video, please give it click to that thumbs up button.

What’s going on guys, this is bears want to talk to you today about the mercury 65 backpack from Black Diamond. This is a backpack that definitely has a ton of potential I think if they made one change. This would definitely be in a top category for backpacks all around now. What this is constructed of is a 400 polyester twill and a 420 d nylon, twill fabric and it’s very durable I’ve had no problems with it.
When I’ve been out in the backcountry going through brush, bivouac and etc, I’ve had no concerns whatsoever. You know putting this down on the you know ground tons of time. You can see this there’s definitely some scuffs, but overall, this bag has no tears, rips holes. Anything like that. It’s been a very durable pack, I’ve been using for the last few months, used it in the winter time initially and most recently on the Appalachian Trail video.
You guys saw or went out with my buddy Nate mur. Now, when you look at the engineering and how they design this pack, it’s definitely something that really sticks out, and this is probably my favorite pack I have in terms of the ability to organize and put your stuff away. So what they have is they have a top part here, which is kind of normal, has a zipper on the top zipper on the inside, so that’s kind of normal across packs.
You have a top load right here, that’s normal across packs. When you come to the front, it’s really where it sets itself apart. One really cool feature: I, like is the fact you can open front up here and get right to the contents of the bag, has a huge benefit to me. You also see it. They have these kind of, like organizers here on the body of the bag, so you can really organize this thing down a lot.
You know there’s also another bag, another house right here on the front, so a lot organization you can do with this bag and get into it relatively quickly on the fly. You have this opening right here where you have this mesh lining and it’s really tough mesh. It’s not any kind of cheesy mesh, see if pockets here and here where you can put stuff and then, as you can see, it opens up right to the inside, so you can open up the inside you’re too much pockets here and on the front of another opening where you can get to even more stuff.
So organizing all your gear way see when I have your water stuff. Here your med kit. Here you want to put your cook kit here there everywhere anywhere. You can definitely organize this out very easily and that’s definitely the highest point for this backpack. Compared to all the other backpacks I’ve read and reviewed in the past, the JanSport Klamath you have the Gregory baltoro 75 I’ve been using some other ones, one from help, people gear of all the packs, I’ve reviewed or have been using that I haven’t reviewed.
Yet this definitely is unique. The webbing that’s used is awesome. I, like the fact that it does have a little bit of a sheen to it. So it is nice and smooth operating when you go to. You know, cinch stuff, down, move to the back, and this is also where it sets itself apart and becomes a little unique compared to others on the market. So up here you have your regular shoulder, straps, nothing special there they’re just kind of normal shoulder straps.
The one thing I would like to see is about 25 percent, more padding over the long-run. You know we did about an 8 mile hike for in for out something like that with the Appalachian Trail. Video could definitely feel on that trip more than any other ones. I’ve done. The shoulder area was definitely starting to get a little raw, so I’d see little bit more padding up here.
That’s not a huge change at all, but when you move down here, you start to get really interesting. They call this their ergo active suspension and you can see there’s a real, deep channel right here for air flow, nice and padded I mean that’s definitely about a quarter to a half an inch of padding right there, which you don’t really see on the market, but where this really sets itself apart is on the bottom part here with the waist strap or with the hip belt.
Most packs you’ll have a stationary hip belt, that’s attached and as the pack moves with you as you go, the pack goes from the waist all the way up with this pack, though, as you go, the pack moves with it. So you can see the hip belt straight and that’s kind of how your body is right. The top part will move and and flex well. This is how this is as well, which is really unique.
I’ve, never seen that on any other pack, maybe I’m missing some, but that’s very unique in my opinion, and it feels unique so as you’re going somewhere, the pack will move with you, but your waist stays stationary, just like your body. So that’s very unique feels great when you’re going over stuff, like logs, going across streams and creeks and stuff like that on hikes, you know, hip belt goes with the webbing is a thinner webbing to keep stuff nice and lightweight the total weight of this is gonna, be around four pounds: eight ounces.
So it’s not exceptionally lightweight, but yet it’s not exceptionally heavy weights right there in the middle, which is where I like to be on the top. Here you have a carry handle and you have your adjustments, for you know Justin out the load with the load, levers and they’re nice and, like I, said easy to. You know, manipulate and move because it has a nice Sheen to it.
So it’s very smooth to operate those when it comes the hydration you have ability to have the tube come out either side. You have some elastic here to put the tube down through and then on. The sturm strap here both sides have a clip where you can put your hydration hose and the sternum strap moves very easily on these rails, and that was definitely a cool part of adjusting things out.
So, like the first few times, I used it trying to get that to where exactly I wanted it and then get it there is it’s relatively easy on the bottom here were your shoulder. Strap attaches, there’s a little bit bungee. So again, there’s a lot of flexibility in your movement, so you have a few little movements. You’re gonna make to go somewhere this.
This really flexes with where you’re going it does feel a little bit different than other packs on the market. On the low side of what I found is the zippers now I’ve had these zippers pop on me numerous times, so the one thing I did see is I did pop one of these zippers and I did unzip it and Riis if it and it came back together and all that, but you know that’s just because of over packing and that’s why I said you know trying to keep this within the weight range and not over packing is probably something I.
Always something I would recommend. You know I think they could move to a non waterproof zipper. These waterproof zippers aren’t as durable and, as you know, robust as just a regular zipper and in the case of it you know going out there and raining or snowing or whatever you know just putting a pack cover on and something I would do so having these zippers waterproof doesn’t really have a benefit asleep Inc with one real, simple change.
This pack can really be elevated to the top of the line. There’s a coating on the outside of these zippers and what I found is that coating gets. You know it almost gums up the zipper. So what I found is down here in this tight corner right here and actually this zippers broke and I do have to talk to Black Diamond, because a zipper have broken it to where it doesn’t really zip up anymore, and maybe that’s because I’m hard on gear, maybe that’s because of the zipper itself.
I think it might be a combination, but in these tight areas, right here and in a tight areas up top here, where you have the edges, when you have that coating, that’s on the zippers in those stress areas, I found that the zipper will bind up and will either pop off, and then you have to kind of zip it back up to get it to be fixed or like. This is right now altogether.
This zipper doesn’t work anymore on this portion. I think it’s a one real, quick change because in my opinion, and how I go about backpacking and going on hikes and stuff if it does start to rain or precipitation moves in I’m gonna, throw a pack cover on I’m, not worried about the zippers being waterproof and I. Think that’s one thing that you know I think they tried to kind of be a little bit different and use a waterproof zipper with that coating on the outside.
But in these really tight areas, it really starts to get stressful on that zipper and it really becomes very difficult to operate so I think if they switch it out, which is a regular, high-quality zipper. This pack could definitely be elevated to you, know better ones to one of the better ones in the market. I really like the way they have hooks on the end.
These are really great. You really can get your finger in there and zip and unzip the zippers very quickly and I think they should keep those I really like those zipper pulls. The one really cool feature is the hiking pole holder here so you’ll see on the bottom. Hair comes out and on the top, so what I do is I took my axe and put the you know the bottom hole there, pull it tight, put it around the top pulled that down and boom I put my axe on here.
It’s not meant for the axe, but it worked. I didn’t come off. It came loose a few times, didn’t notice it until I actually got stopped and was getting ready for the night but um. You know it worked and it worked rather well serious I had this packed up. I got my axe on this side. I got my BOB, thus treaties. So on this side, tarp on the bottom you can see the outside is packed pretty well and packs down pretty well as well.
You know overall, I really enjoyed this pack and as far as anything other than zippers, this pack is definitely recommended. I. Think if the packs on sale, it’s definitely something I’d recommend you look into, but for the not being on sale. It’s definitely something I think there are some better options out there for purchasing this at full price.
As far as what I found you know, I’ve overloaded, this at least in my opinion- I’ve overloaded, this with about 50 pounds. This is definitely more thirty-five at the most forty pounds with water or as load capacity goes so keeping it within there or under is definitely going to make for a comfortable backpacking trip. But if you’re gonna overload it you’re definitely gonna run into some problems like I did so you know as long as you keep it within that 35 to 40 at the Mac.
You know load capacity. This pack is gonna, definitely shine for you, so hopefully, Black Diamond will see this review we’ll see what they do. As far as the zippers go, I think that’s a real, quick change that they can make that will you know excel this pack to you, know top of the line on the market, but those zippers are definitely one of the lower points other than that durability and comfortable comfortableness of the pack is exceptionally high and I.
Think it’s when you take a look at if on sale, the one huge thing I’m, gonna black diamond kudos on is the coloration a lot of times. Outdoor companies will use very, very bright colors and to use more of a mud color with a gray color, as you can see on the bottom and this real burnt, my room color on the zipper really was something that stuck stood out to me when I look at packs in the market, I want something subdued I want something: earthy, colored, so kudos and I’m for use in a really cool color, and you know something that would definitely grab the attention of me or anyone else and the tactical kind of mindset or someone that doesn’t want to stick out as much with a bright orange or blue or that lime-green color that you see a lot of so I, really like the coloration, and hopefully they continue using great subdued color options or option at least one option with all their pack.
So if you guys have any questions or anything, let me know if you guys have a black diamond mercury. 65 pack go ahead and put it in the comments down below or better yet make a video about it until next time. Zoom in going to show that this is dirty, so you can’t mix it up. We can but it’s harder you can, but you be a.
Hi this is Dan Nash and we get so many requests from people all the time. I want to know about backpacks and what’s the best backpack today we’re gonna talk about the black diamond mercury 55. This is the black diamond mercury, 55 backpack, the mercury series comes actually in a 75 liter as well, but the one we tested here is a 55 liter for like a weekend type trips or lightweight 3/4 day trips.
One of the first things that you notice about the pack is that all the zippers are seen taped even up here on the lid. You can see that the zippers are seam taped, as well as in the main compartment and in the exterior compartment in the front. I really like that, really is great to help keep the weather out.
Also, as you can see here in the main compartment. This is, if ur, not only a seam tape but comes all the way around and allows you to basically open up the entire pack. Tell you what a suitcase which makes packing really easy. You’re gonna start shoving stuff in here, there’s a divider for the sleeping bag, compartment and below or the main compartment, and, as you can see, I’ve just undone.
It so I. Have this one big compartment in here. There’s a hydration sleeve in here. That’s big enough for a three liter hydration bladder, but I, really like the fact that you’re going to open this up as a suitcase and then there’s also different storage options inside these little mesh pockets with little zippers.
So if you want to keep small things in here, it’s really kind of like just packing your suitcase for a business type trip, there’s also another external one pocket here on the the outside front of the pack, and it has the little mesh pocket in there as well with a scene tape zipper. Also. You can also do the traditional storm flap entry into the pack itself from the top, and then, if you flip, the pack around you’ll see that it’s got some really good padding both on these shoulder straps and on the hip belt.
And it’s got this nice ventilation system that allows the what are the air to come come through here if it’s hot and then you got a hip belt, a lot of different pack. Companies now are getting into this rotating hip belt. Some of them work better than others, and actually this Black Diamond one works, probably better or as well as anyone that I’ve ever used.
It has a lot of really good rotation. It’s really burly and I had some of these break in the past, but this one didn’t break even though I’ve kind of abused it quite a bit. So that’s really nice really added to my comfort, allowed me to use my hips and really do some scrambling and things like that. I really liked.
It there’s also big hip zippers pockets on both sides, and you can see it’s big enough. This Jeff an iPhone down in there put some snacks in there whatever and then also in the right pocket. You’ll see the little allen wrench it’s in here and that’s for any adjustments for the hip belt pivoting point here so overall, this pack was really good comes with a really tough exterior, it’s one of the tougher packs and one of the most comfortable packs that we’ve tested in a while.
So if you’re looking for a mid size pack, this is a 55, but they actually have the same pack in a 75. Liter I’m definitely want to check out the Black Diamond mercury series.
These Alpine start here and I just want to show you the backpack I’ve been Black Diamond rock blitz, 15 liter pack. It’s been really good for multi-pitch trad, climbing one feature: I like little side. Zip here gives me quick access to my my first-aid kit, my camp, a first aid kit. A little strap on the top here. I have use this to hold a rope on top of the pack, but there’s no compression straps plenty of room for 15 years.
I’ve got my La Porte Eva TC pros in there pull rod rack. My locker is my quartet miscellaneous stuff set a quick draws couple mini quads, 1/2 Alpine draws room for my lunch, which is pretty much all gone. I also got a windbreaker in here. This is the Black Diamond one of their new ultralight, windbreakers, forgetting the name, but that’s gonna be reviewed on the blog soon and just a couple of other snaps in here.
So it’s lightweight. My only drawback is there’s no no whistle on the sternum, strap I’m, a big fan and whistles on sternum straps. It’s got a waist belt super durable, ballistic kind of nylon. It’s holding up great after a full summer of guiding in the white mountains. So that’s the Black Diamond rock blitz, 15.

Hey guys, connor here from gear reviews, I showcase the water resistance of the Black Diamond Magnum 20 pack, it’s just gonna, be a short one. Will just you know, dose some water on it, see how well it works. I’ve just stuffed some towels in it to give it a bit of a full look. I do imagine that that front stash pocket right here is gonna just hold the water.
Obviously, so you know anything in there will get wet but they’ll be interesting to see how well it does for the material to sort of resist and how well it can repel the water. So, let’s get right to it. Alright, so I’m, just gonna, colander, I’m, just gonna put water in it. It’s just normal water will just you know, kind of simulate a bit of rain, because you’re not really gonna be wearing this.
If you’re you know trekking through waterfalls or rivers, so we’ll just pour so you can definitely see that it’s just beating up all around it. So they’ve definitely taken some time to invest in some material. If I move the bag carefully enough, you can also see that it’s just pooled on the top and then obviously, if we do like this, that stash pocket does definitely hold a lot of water in it, but you can 100% tell that they put some effort into the water resistance here.
Maybe we’ll just do a bit more, so you know there you go you get in one of those fun, isolated rain clouds that just follow you around. You should be good. It does look fairly good, still we’ll go through each pocket and just kind of see how how it’s doing all right so I just want to show you kind of how each pocket reacted to it.
We saw that that front stash pocket was just holding the water, but if you kind of look you can see, it is just beat it up in there as well. So it’s still resisting it, this mesh pocket on the side. You can kind of tell it it’s just water, it’s just gonna absorb it. It is a mesh. The pocket over here is well kind of held onto some of the water, but if we unbuckle and take a look now, this top one is that felt pocket that I was talking about.
It does have a zipper cover and a zipper seems somewhat able to do it so we’ll just take a quick feel. It feels pretty dry. I know that that wasn’t necessarily a prolonged water test, but it seems dry enough that whatever you put in there should be good again. It’s a pretty unrealistic water test. I’d say it’s worst case scenario from that.
If we look at this front pocket here completely dry in there, this bone-dry looks pretty amazing, I’d say and keep in mind. This is you know it is a fairly expensive bag, but it does come on sale a lot, so you can get you know, quality from them and black diamond is really well known throughout sort of that adventuring world ooh.
All right, so we’ve got got some sort of bad news here. The inside has gotten wet in there. We do have water kind of pooling up on the sides. If you can see right right in here and right here, a little harder to see so I’m, not sure kind of looks like it came in through the water tube hole at the back here seems like it’s: some weakened material there.
That could be the cause, but I mean other than that. It’s held up pretty well against that water test. So perhaps, if it was, you know a shower where this was covered on your back. You wouldn’t have that same problem or you know I’m not I’m, not really sure how to combat that I do know that bags sell rain covers, there’s always that option, but I mean this.
Bag is not gonna, be advertised as being water resistant or anything. But it’s still done pretty amazing, because you can tell there’s just the beaded water everywhere. It looks pretty great and then, as you would expect, the stash pocket does just pull it up. So I mean it is pretty great, for that I mean I’m planning to use it skiing and hiking.
Really so I don’t expect much rain in my adventures, but I mean it’s good to see that I can have some trust in it just to let the rain hit a bit and I should be okay, but perhaps that main compartment a little worrisome depending on what you’re putting in there. So I was just a short water test on the Black Diamond Magnum 20 pack hope you guys enjoyed and watch out for some more videos coming up in the future.
More with this and more with other gear, oh boy, you.
Hey guys, I’m, Capri or 6170, with the lowdown room today, we’re gonna be looking at the black diamond BBE 11. This pack really fits along with the common trend that we’re all seeing where all your gear is. You know lighting down and really streamlined it kind of blends into your environments a little bit better. Black Diamond really hit this one right on the head with it. It’s super light only weighs like 13 ounces whenever it’s completely unpacked.
It’s surprisingly durable I put this inside of it with it. It’s really comfortable. So taking a closer look at this pack, you can actually see on the inside here it’s got a smaller pocket with a retention lanyard right here you can put your keys and your phone in there and it’s got this larger pocket for Camelback bladder or something like that. That’s really all there is to it there’s small webbing on the front that you can put carabiners and attach whatever hydration balls are you need clip over on the back side.
You can see all this is very vented and padded there’s actually a foam pad in there. That feels really good as well and that carries over to the straps. Also, you can see that it’s got a cinch strap for the chest. Keep it tight on your chest as well as a waist strap. Now this white strap is really thin, I think it’s more for keeping the weight from bouncing around while it’s on your back versus actually getting the hips off your shoulder and on your weight.
It’s kind of thin and uncomfortable, so I’ve been using it for a few weeks. Now everything from everyday activities sticking a pair of tennis shoes in there with all my gym clothes for after duty whenever I want to work out, like I said earlier, I did that running gun with it and it performed phenomenally, and you can just stick whatever EDC in it that you want as well blends in really nice with the surrounding environments, I’ll even put a Celtx up mm in it and it fits really perfectly in the back sleeve and it doesn’t bounce around or anything.
So it’s perfect also for any of those subcompact guns that you have like your scorpions or your Celtx up mm or anything like that. It’s perfect size.

It is designed to offer the best possible comfort: minimum bulk, freedom of shoulder movement, foldaway waistbelt, high carrying position for unobstructed access to harness.
I just received this backpack after this g4 pack is an incredible value and a wonderful opportunity for those who may not have or want to spend a lot of money if you’re a person who needs a pack for a variety of reasons. This is ideal. Laptops and tablets should be in protective cases. First, this pack type has no dedicated padded pocket sleeve. The interior volume is more than sufficient for those who take what they need, not what they want to have.
If I were a hardcore outdoors person and or had an ego disorder, it definitely purchased the more expensive pack I know for I have in the past. I am so pleased to have found and purchased this g4 and am confident it will serve me well and you too, overall, very happy with this pack, plus internal frame plus plenty of space plus hip belt, plus built-in rain cover plus rip stop fabric plus keepers for hydration straw. So it’s not flapping around constantly does not have a separate area for a hydration bladder.
Only one pocket bottom zipper opens directly into the bag, for ease of access. Sizing is unisex frame is not adjustable. Pack is very neutral and easy to adjust. The straps use this the first time on a test hike last weekend. Add a decent amount of stuff inside poles, etc only did miles but loved the comfort and stability of it using it this weekend for what will be six miles, minimum hike, maybe up to 11 five miles, we’ll see how I feel sunday updated review february, 4 2018.
I used this on my first long hike yesterday did nine miles, some of which was a good scramble during the hike. The pack was super comfortable im only 53 inches and even on the scramble down the pack never felt too big or got in the way. I did not have it completely loaded with gear, as it was a one-day hike, but it was packed decently. Today I feel great no back neck or shoulder pain. This will be a keeper for me smile, I hiked all over scotland and ireland with this backpack.
It was exactly what I needed it. Repelled water well had lots of room and extra pockets to stay organized without having to dig for small items, I was able to fit a laptop travel guides. A north face jacket, a pair of sweater uggs, a gopro, a nikon dls with lenses and more as a carry-on for my flight as well. It is lightweight, and the chest and waist straps worked great for stability. I currently use it for my daily commutes on my bicycle to and from work great value purchased this bag for my first time ever, leaving the usa on a trip to columbia and even brought a second backpack green bag, strap to backpack in photo for any extra items, I’d purchase on my journey and still haven’t needed.
The second bag. As I write this review with four days left out of a two wii click link in description for more reviews. You.
Up is a 45 litre short ex bag uh. It has pocket up here. A nice little strap in here is already nice and secure the back pouch over here. Has it actually goes really deep. I’ll know how well you can see that it goes in pretty deep. I had some items in, but I kind of just remove them. Now this over here, here’s another zipper spot.
You can lift this up here. You have a three places. You can set things one here, one here and one here. It’s actually really deep as well. Um. Here’s the main pouch there’s another zipper here. It actually has this off. It has an overlapping strap here, but uh. We can actually go it’s pretty deep down. There. I put my water bag in here.
Oh the water hoop right here so here goes another zipper on top keep a little easy to get two things in here. It’s actually pretty big in there as well. The back part. The back part, has nice padding right here for your shoulders. It has nice padding for your shoulder pad off your shoulders, as well as padding for your back shoulder padding for your waist and actually has a zipper here where you can actually fit your cellphone snacks or whatever you like on the other side as well um.
This back piece here has a back support right here, a little beam. You can actually remove this. If you don’t want this, you can actually remove this by easily removing it from right. There I already took it out um and the other side as well up here. Alright has a Velcro on top. You can actually remove this whole back piece here.
Um, take it all the way and I’ve used them both ways with and without it and I actually like both actually both very comfortable. This piece stays here for your neck and your shoulder. Um, it comes with a whistle outside sorry, comes with a whistle right here. All this says that it fits 45 litres. But if you remove all these straps here, I think you can get a few more liters in there I guess you can get a few more items, I believe, but other than that I mean I, took it so far, camping and uh.
It’s actually worked out great, it’s a great bag. It’s very comfortable, like I, said it’s actually really good. I, like the color on it. Um I, don’t have actually removed a lot of other items, but I have tons of items here that I had in this bag, but I just removed them um, but yeah.
At this bag and I mean it’s unusual because it already has something like 15 reviews up I think it might be, because the manufacturer knows that I’ll get it out, have a reason. Tara look at it’s all useless you so I’m going to be just out now. This is this: isn’t a day bag? Let’s be clear about that from the beginning.
This isn’t one of those bags that you take out for it for a walk one day for the walk. This is 50 liters, it’s a sort of size of bag that someone with a smallish stand here. Maybe a woman would use for proper tempo. That’s the sort of size it is done by proper camping. What I mean is actually walking somewhere sharing it carrying a tent carrying your food carrying the clips.
You need survi camping stoves and enjoy back so the full-on family. There are full size bag, not the biggest but backpack that you can get, but it certainly is a large bag. Let’s have a look and see what mother is around. It’s like look at the different parts. Now you see here, for instance, cousin is a external thing that could probably have a bed roll on, but germ or a sleeping bag on.
If you could wrap it up and keep it keep it dry so that there is that there we’ve also got the pocket at the bottom. Here. Look at this, so there’s a big pocket at the bottom, because the pocket it has a zipped compartment inside I suspect this could be somebody keeping securely. Oh, no I’m wrong. It goes right into the main right into the main cavity of the down, but this obviously can keep it separate letters in there separate now to the white inside just some of the straps.
There are zips in here. I decided, fully understand, yep, what’s going on or the zip around older, zip, just when I see as it will go completely round and open. So you can just have one great big cavity in at the bottom on the back. Here is a separate little pouch I, don’t hear some liquor pockets, there’s also in here as it into a knot a little pocket there did we put stuff in as well.
Let’s surf see where else we are, but some toggles. Now, let’s look in the main category I’m going to take the street position, I. Think of hold it up, so you’ve actually see it in its fullness in a moment. So there is the big 55 litres most of it. It does have that bit of the bottom there that you use to hold things up where you can zip that’s out of the way, there’s also this elasticated path cross there.
It goes right down to the bottom of the bag as well. So you can open separate in that. Let’s look at a padding on the back now. This is perhaps the interesting that, because the question with this there’s a lot here, we are- we’ve got some zipped packets on here and here, let’s good, perhaps some pressures within and that’s looking general over overall padding and so on now I’m, not sure about this tag.
You see I can’t decide if it’s one, that you don’t you go backpacking with, but it looks like he sees that all the stuff, all that all the straps that you need for it and it does have all the padding as well. It’s really good padding here- and this is trying to tell us- well there’s some ventilation up the back as well.
So there’s really good padding in this this this bag, full on padding, that’s going to. Let you be able to carry this this on you back, possibly all day, because I thought. First of all, this was going to be a festival bag. You put your kit in you go to the festival in it or a going to college bag. Of course it would be a great goin to college bag, mainly you’re on the bus or on the train, or maybe you’re in, but even in the car.
But this means in one walk. You can carry in a whole life, basically foot pro term, but it does look as though this padding is serious, proper padding. That would let you actually take it out for a proper walked on the hills, so I’m impressed so far, because there’s the straps there’s something to hold them together, so you’re not constantly pulling on on on on them to hold them in place and there’s the waist strap as well.
It’s a proper full-on waist strap, so everything you need is actually there to hold it together, and there is of course one other trick. Nothing and that trick is in the bottom here, and that trick is that inside here. Yes, so again is arranged other and that’s a great idea Merson, because it’s not only the gate, keep the rain off.
It also means that you’re walking down a city street, no one can come up behind and just open open your pockets open you zips and help themselves. Whatever is in there, not that you put anything of value in ours hope anyway, in the back in the main tent, but it keeps the rain off. It will keep the rain off of the lab at the front and balanced because it should have been advertising on the outside that prevents yes, so not only will it keep the rain off.
It’ll also keep the tea leaves away through to the kitchen and I’ll hold it up for you, so I haven’t noticed before, but here at the side, big pocket there, you could comfortably guess one of those two liter hydration bladders in there to carry you out, walking with it or put something else in if you like, but a huge opera bear, and at the other side, like you, just put some bottles of water it well.
My walking days are pretty much over, but this is fantastic, even though I’m very large, it fits me. It will go on me even so that just shows you how how adjustable it is. It’s actually incredibly comfortable I have no idea just how comfortable one of these bags could be. These padded areas are just in the right places and I’m sure the ventilation will work well and but I can’t see what there is not to like about.
It is extremely well made it’s a perfectly made. There’s their problems in manufacture at all, but I can see the Zips work. Well, the zips are all good quality. They all work. Well, there’s a rain cupboard, go of the whole thing: that’ll protect you against not only water, but thieves, there’s just nothing wrong with it at all.
I realize now that these are false. This is a sad old thing, but to have your mobile phone. If you need you my mobile phone when you’re out walking, but that’s enough listening. That is, but you know it’s, it looks like a perfect. It’s very light as well. A perfect 50 liter bag. I just can’t believe how good it is, how comfortable it is.
Hey there Amazon today, I’m going to first and foremost these hip pouch pockets. I love these hip pouch pockets, I have much more expensive backpacks and they don’t Hallie’s, always have them. It’s frustrating anyway. Let’s take this off and we’ll dive right. In now note I am a medium built. Someone on the heavy side, sometimes 511 and I, am a medium on the Gregory and also the Osprey. Now this is a little bit on the smaller size and with the right amount of adjustment you can get by you know, being my size, I would recommend it for a bit shorter.
Definitely go for this you’re a bit taller. Maybe not that’s! Just in my experience. You know everyone could just differently now. This is not something I would recommend putting a ton of weight into, because this does not have an internal frame. This is a daypack and I. Pretty much was able to pack my essentials. I have my backpacking chair, I, have my tent a second of my heavier tents. Get the job done and I have my inflatable sleeping pad love. That thing now on.
The bottom has a separate apart, which you can also open up, so it just you know, becomes a one big backpack. The bottom is reserved for your sleeping bag. In fact, lately I fall in love with this particular sleeping bag. It’s down filled. It was very inexpensive and of all places, I got it from Walmart yeah, we’ll just leave it at that. It was actually really good buy anyway. Moving on to the padding I am most impressed by the padding on the shoulders and actually all over this backpack, the back has it the hip pouches.
Have it there. You go my favorite pockets against the hip pocket and the pouch yeah there’s padding all throughout this thing. It’s not you know some superior super technology, blah blah blah from some top name-brand. No, it’s thick it’s plush and it’s definitely supportive and that’s kind of what you would want to look for in an expensive day. Pack like this now the material show them very, very strong. It’s a rip, stop and I poke that I product, it’s the job done top, has a brain at the top part, because you can see I can open it from the inside.
You don’t put all these little accessible in there. The opening is big enough and let’s take a look at the bottom and right here we have. The rain cover it’s secured by a zipper open that up and there it is I live in Southern California, so I am never ever gonna use this thing. So let’s just put that back, but if you’re somewhere wet hey, maybe having this super cool tag, letting you know that a rain cover located here might come in handy yeah anyway in Southern California.
Not so much now check this out. These loops I do live in part of Southern California, where it does snow for a little bit of time and I like to go ice hiking. So I can put my ice picks on these loops super useful yeah I really like that. That’s a neat little feature. Of course you can strap on your everything else on here. Oh by the way up front check. This out quick access pocket for beanie and gloves once again very useful. So there you have the guys nope it has everything.
