So today I’m very excited to show you guys some cool snow shoes from msr it’s. Their lightning explorer they come in all different series in all different sizes, and we’re gonna talk about that today so as far as selecting snow shoes. It’s pretty easy you want to select them based on what activities you’re going to be doing whether it’s just light walking in the woods or something like that trail running for example you’re going to use these smaller and lighter weight. Ones if you want to select the larger ones for when you’re going to be carrying a heavier load like i often do when you’re in the back country so these are the 30-inch-long model these will support a lot of weight so i can wear a fully loaded pack and still have the support from this 30 inch long snowshoe. You want to make sure that the bindings that they have will fit the type of shoe that you’re going to be wearing again these hyper link bindings from msr will. Fit my regular you know spring summer fall hiking shoes as well as my larger. Winter boots these have brass all the way around the edges they have pretty sharp bottoms to them, so they work really well when digging in to the side of a hill for going up hill for example, and they work really well for just. Getting traction no matter what surface you’re on or how deep the snow is again they’re long so that they support you no matter how much load you’re carrying they have the hyperlink bindings which have the access gate technology you can pull the cord. Here and adjust them left and right so that you can adjust it to the gate of your or the type of stance you have so. That they’re not clicking together when walking and then finally on the back here you have this televator which you can put up which is useful for when walking uphill it makes it so that your boot instead of going up hill like that will go up hill like that much easier to. Climb steep hills with now the msr lightning explorers feature access gate. Technology and what that is its a little cord that you can pull here you. Can actually rotate the binding so instead of walking on the ground. Pigeon-toed like that where the backs might click each other when you walk you can adjust it to your normal stride, and they tell you how to do that you basically just take a few steps stop and look down at your feet if they’re open like that you can simply adjust the access gate to. Accommodate and therefore you’ll keep walking in a straight line and your snowshoes won’t click together these snowshoes also come with a longer strap so you can quickly and easily pull out the shorter strap pull it all the way. Out put in the new strap and then you can accommodate larger boots so if you have smaller boots you’d use the smaller straps the larger boots you use the larger straps the bindings are very easy to use you simply just depress these two buttons on the side and you can quickly and easily release the straps. Now I’ve already adjusted these for larger boots because i generally will wear them with my larger winter boots very easy to do just step in to the. Binding and with one hand and simply. Just tension the top and then you just. Lift the lever here and it will ratchet the top down same with the back here. Just slide strap through the binding and. Then ratchet it tight. Much easier and much faster to walk when. You’re not sinking in the snow if you’re. Gonna be going uphill you can just lean your foot forward and pop up the. Stabilizer for your back foot there and. Then it makes going uphill much easier the hyperlink bindings are very. Easy to release as well you simply just press the two tabs and you can lift your foot up and it will come right out there’s also a grab handle here that you can use to pull if there is ice buildup or a lot of snow or something like that but basically you just get the binding. Off and your foot will come right out you can get packs that are specifically made to carry things like snowshoes and skis this sabra pack for example has really long lashings in the front so if you come across terrain where you don’t need the snowshoes you can quickly and easily clip them to your pack and you barely know they’re there another great feature about snowshoes is you can use them to pack down the snow in a perimeter for example for use with my teepee or other shelter. Snowshoes make it very simple to signal. From the ground to the air just by spelling out a word snowshoes are as well. Very handy for using as a shovel for doing things like digging a trench in. The snow or for putting on the side of your shelter for that extra bit of added. Insulation so as you can see snowshoes. Are pretty dang useful not only for keeping you above the snow and making. Walking much easier in the wintertime but you can also use them for other things like signaling or for tamping down a surface for setting up a shelter for example msr makes some great snowshoes they’re very lightweight even when i throw them on my pack i hardly noticed they’re there they’re very easy to walk in even for a beginner, and they have a great product selector on their web page where you can put in the type of activity you’re going to be doing, and they will select the right pair for you I’m going to leave a link below to msrs website as well as the link to amazon where you can pick up and purchase a pair for yourself as well as check current pricing i hope you guys enjoyed the video today please give it a big thumbs up for me leave me some comments below share this video your friends and family on social media and you can follow me on my social media as well and don’t forget below this video there’s a big red subscribe button if you haven’t already clicked it pleases do so and subscribe for more videos.

The flex serious snow shoes is the flex tail it’s available in all models of the. Flex series and what it does is it works in two ways first it absorbs shock from your heel strike and what that does is it minimizes the amount of stress on the joints in your foot your ankle your knee and your hips and second and it allows. You to have a nice rounded step which is. The way you walk when you’re walking just in regular shoes over ground. If you imagine a stiff rigid snow shoe you have a heel strike that happens here and then the snow shoe kind of acts like a lever and it pulls your foot forward quickly and it makes you have an awkward stride and most people compensate for. This by walking they basically just shuffle they pick up the whole snowshoe and drag it the flex series snowshoes however let you absorb that impact from. Heel strike and have a nice rounded follow-through just like you’re walking over ground another important feature of. The flex serious snowshoes is traction all the snowshoes in the flex series feature these non parallel traction rails and the enhanced traction on all. Of these snowshoes really makes them ideal for hard pack or icy conditions. The truth is most people snowshoe on established trails or on hardpack snow. These snowshoes along with them being loaded up with traction really make them ideal for on trail use or hard pack. Conditions with other important features like torsion deck soft strike and women’s specific design the flex serious. Snowshoes really represent the highest level of engineering and the snowshoe market to date.

For those who are new to snowshoeing are those who are looking for more comfort on this no she tricks the tubs men’s and. Women’s flex trek are a great value the flex tale featured on all models of the flex series allows your foot to roll naturally from heel to toe in turn. Reducing stress on your ankles knees and hips the torsional flexibility. Throughout the whole snowshoe adapts to terrain underfoot maintaining several points of contact between the traction elements and the snow the rotating toe. Cord design lets the tail of the snowshoe drop shedding snow and. Minimizing the amount of weight you drag while walking the quick flex binding is. An easy-to-use two buckle system that ensures a precise fit around your boot control wings keep your ankle aligned with the rest of the snowshoe and a rubber heel strap keeps your foot in place a toe cramp bond provides uphill.

Then to be extremely good a couple of the features that i like about them are i actually like the plastic binding the. Reason i do is because it keeps its. Shape so it’s easy for me to slip in and. Out of it’s got a strap that the. Buckles that you can adjust to tighten. It up but and it’s got a hill strap so. You can reduce the length of it to pay. Out in size your foot but i found that this shoe is really good for both my shirelles or my hiking boots and you. Now it’s got these grips on the bottom. That the bite into the harder crust snow. And gives me traction to get up hills. It’s got a swivel that that worked real. Well to change the angle of the shoe to. Pay on how I’m shifting my weight and. After three years of use i had no. Problems at all with it whatsoever the next step up on the snowshoe has a. Class cloth straps instead of the. Plastic bindings which is you were doing. A lot of mountaineering work where you’re on an angle a lot more or you’re. You’re shifting side to side a lot more than a lot of flat work this might break. Eventually where the cloth would but. For everyday use and. So forth i really like this. Snowshoe up here the snow gets say we’re from six. To eight feet in the winter and if you. Don’t have a good shoot you just sink right down and you can’t get around at all and whether we’re doing cabin repairs or just trying to get to the back of the property or I’m trying to some photography this tubs wilderness so. She’s been really good step into the. Binding push the strap into the buckle. Listen to ratchet and then pull on the. Strap tighten it down and you’re good to. Go then to release all you have to do is. Just push the button binding strap. Buckle that comes out you can slide. Right out of it’s real easy. And the thing that i have found is that. The snow does not stick to the buckles or to the binding making it easy to. Clear by just knocking the snowshoes. Together or just a quick tap and it’ll. It will free itself and i would. Recommend that you consider purchasing. The tubbs brad because i found them to be exceptionally well-made.

  • Hi my name is katie herod I’m with the tub snow shoe company and I’m here today to talk a little bit about our new line of flex serious new shoes flex series. Was the culmination of years of research development and testing to come up with. The most ergonomic and comfortable snow shoe on the market the key feature of. Or in icy conditions so having a snowshoe that optimizes flotation is not. Quite as important as having a snowshoe that optimizes traction and maneuverability the compact nature of.

Traction while three-dimensionally form. Traction rails give you plenty of grip for flat and rolling terrain.

    Tubbs Frontier Snowshoe – Men’s

When you’re trekking through snow-covered woods, it’s sometimes nice to fantasize that you’re a rugged frontier explorer. But you’re pretty sure Lewis and Clark didn’t have golden retrievers, and if they did have dogs, they definitely weren’t wearing fleece vests. You may not be high in the Rockies, but you can still find the adventure close to home with the Tubbs Frontier Snowshoe. Designed for day hikes on your favorite trails, this snowshoe offers reliable performance and ease of use. The 180 EZ binding features a one-buckle tightening system that makes adjustment on the trail quick and simple. The Fit-Step frame design reduces strain on bones and joints, while the rotating toe cord allows the tail to drop to shed snow, reducing weight while you trek. For traction uphill, downhill, and in slippery hard-packed conditions, you’ve got carbon-steel toe and heel crampons keeping your grip.
