    Ergon SR3 Pro Saddle – Men’s

    Like the range-topping road saddle from Ergon, the SR3 Pro Saddle shares the attention-to-detail expected from this German company. This means that you’ll find the same respected shape, in three separate widths, as the Pro Carbon in order to ensure the long-ride support that’s only achievable through an individual, personalized fit.

    What’s different, conversely, is hollow TiNox rails that are used in place of carbon in the Pro Carbon saddle. And, while this may add a little weight to the SR3 Pro, it still filters out smaller vibrations to help retain Ergon’s overall goal of an excellent ride quality. The main culprit for those traits, however, is the ultra-thin carbon fiber shell.

    At a quick glance, it’s pretty obvious that the SR3 has a distinctive shape. And that’s not the result of an industrial designer’s assumption of what looks good. It’s actually the result of extensive finite element method analysis that maps loads and areas of stress. This allowed Ergon to tune the shell construction for optimized deflection. The carbon shell is actually 3D, and it features “hollows” that provide controlled flex at the sit bones. Covering the shell are progressive dampening layers that are individual to the different saddle widths. Every size option gets its own layering for rider-specific compression. Adding to the SR3’s chatter-smoothing ability, is a nose mounted micro damper.

    This damper, located in between the shell and TiNox rails, filters out smaller vibrations, and it works in conjunction with the isolated rear mounting to allow the shell to float independent of the rails. The result is one of the most forgiving saddles on the market. Additionally, the rails provide 30mm of adjustment for proper fitting.
