The Best Ammo for 10/22

Hey, what’s going on guys major league product review of Ruger’s was made by Alan company, but uh it’s a Ruger case, essentially for specifically made for the 1022, so without being said, I hope you guys enjoy. So, as I said before, I have Ruger the Ruger 10/22 case. It’s actually not made by Ruger it’s made by Allen company, which is known to make cases and a bunch of other accessories that require fabric and things of that nature.

So things like you know, slings for Remington, for example, or some other you know gun companies, but they are, they do make products for gun manufacturers, which I think is awesome. In this specific case, we have a specifically made Ruger 10/22 rifle scope, case scoped a gun case. As you can see, it isn’t broided with you not just the local logo on it, but it also says Ruger 10/22.

You know obviously making it more notable that it is specifically made for the Ruger 10/22. It is a 40 inch size, so 40 inches, it’s an absolutely perfect size for your 1022. It is nylon like the it is nylon lined, so it makes it. You know very, very easy to clean, not to mention nylon. Just looks really nice when it comes to rifle scopes, I think they actually like it pops up at you.

In some cases you know you get a nice little neck reflection, if you will, from you know light as you can see right here on the video it actually is reflecting a bit and I think it just looks nice. Also, this red lining that they put on here I think it looks absolutely wonderful. It just makes the case pop out so much more. It is a beautiful looking case and you know for the price you can’t beat it.

I went in yesterday trying to purchase this case. I’m a local gun store uh, and it was marked up to forty one dollars, and you know it was kind of expensive. It’s not necessarily what I was looking for in my price range until they told me immediately after they told me the price if I waited till tomorrow. In other words today, this specific case is actually gonna be on sale.

So I actually bought it for twenty dollars. So that’s pretty much half price a little bit more than price. That I bought this case, and you know what I just could not let that pass by I was gonna buy a regardless. You know whether it was forty or twenty dollars, but I mean to save $20. On the rifle case, of course, I’m gonna wait an extra day but anyways it does have three pockets: three pockets for ignore accessories, your ammunition and so on and so forth.

It’s got three they’re, not very big pockets like this one I hear, for example, goes all the way up to about halfway on my palm the big pocket. This one right here in the back, this one actually goes pretty deep. This is the big pocket. It goes all the way down my arm. So it’s a pretty big, pretty big pocket. I suggest that one for you know holding some bigger accessories or even ammunition for that matter, and then it has a little pocket right here.

As you can see, it goes both ways. It’s like a little. It’s lined. You can see right through it. You it is a pocket though, and it does have some pretty heavy-duty zippers and they’re. Also, you know very smooth, they do the job they’re, absolutely wonderful. It does also have this padded handle grip that has the velcro to hold both straps together. It’s get, you know you can get a good purchase on this it.

Actually, it feels very well since its padded and stuff like that, you can pick it up in a tack. It’s actually very comfortable with your rifle in the case as well. You know, like I, said it’s velcro, so once you take it off, you know you can separate both of them and voila, just like magic and I’m just kidding, but even the zippers have the little the little red tabs on them.

So you know kind of matches the rest of the design of the the case and I actually I really like this case, especially for the price and, as you can see, the 10/22 Fitz I’m, assuming I, can get this on here. Okay fits absolutely wonderfully it’s it’s a perfect size and I have my. You know, scope mounted and everything like that. I mean I have no reason to complain with this.

Like I said it is nylon line and it is padded pretty well as a matter of fact and I recommend this case to just about anybody who needs a case where at 10:22 simply because it’s padded- it’s very well made it’s actually very heavy-duty. You can tell you know, pulling the hip and everything it’s uh, it’s bit, it’s a very well made case and I, don’t know to be honest: I, don’t really expect anything allen company, they make good good uh.

You know products for you know, gun, manufactures and stuff like that. Like I, actually have a an Allen company, Ruger I mean excuse me um sling, for my Remington 700, which is you know it does the job I don’t need anything perfect, I, don’t need anything expensive people who buy expensive stuff, it’s literally just for the sake of having something inexpensive, because you can get something for cheaper.

That is just just as effective, if not better. In some some cases now, like I, said this is an absolutely wonderful case. I recommend it to everybody. Anybody who’s. Looking for a good well-made heavy-duty 1022 case that is not looking to spend, you know close to a hundred dollars for a case like I said: I bought this for $20 on sale, but uh not on sale.

It was marked up to $41, so I mean it’s a it’s very, it’s a very reasonable price for this case. So with that being said, I think that pretty much covers everything Oh actually really quick before I. Let you go, it does have on the bottom, see if I can get a little clip right here, a little d-ring type thing so that you can actually hook this onto something for a more you know like you can hook it up to the back of a truck or song like that, just so that your rifle doesn’t fall off, and it also has something similar in the front now.

You know this is something for like if you want to just put it on something and let it hang there for a while. You know you can do that, so it actually has mounting points if you will on both sides of the rifle case. So, overall, this is an absolutely wonderful rifle case. I wouldn’t have bought it. Otherwise, if it was beast individuals, all right, I wouldn’t have bought it.

I like to have good things things that I know will last me a long time and I know this is gonna. Last me a long time, so I’m actually very excited to have this. So with that being said, I think that hat I think that covers pretty much. We get this opened up, got this on the line, for it was about 16 bucks with Free Shipping, using a coupon code that I found online. This is something really cool to me, because I’ve owned a 1022 for years and years. You know one of the best one of the best guns out there in my opinion and I’ve never had a case for it. Oddly enough, I have never had a case I’ve, always just wrapped in the t-shirt, taking it wherever I was going with it, but it’s just kind of a this is kind of out of my camera scope of abilities here.

But let’s just look at a couple things it’s made in USA, which I thought was super cool made by Alan Alan company I’ve, seen some of their cases in Walmart didn’t know they were US made, but you see it’s kept a little USA the logo there our flag rather and then the Ruger stitching on this side again with your handle and all the Ruger stuff and 1022 embroidered on the thing and cool little zippers and I believe this is a yeah. This is a three mag compartment, so you can take like your bx 25 Meg’s slide them in and if you’re like me, and you only own to be x, 25 max, you can take your tactical innovations.

Ti 25 mag slide that in there. So then you get three mags that you’re gonna be rolling with. So this is oh well, let’s take a peek good same zipper type there and just yeah pretty basic on the inside. Just your typical stuff, but hey! This is gonna, be better than what I’ve had before. Rugged outdoors and we’re here my garage today, because I’m going to show you how to install the x-22 backpacker stock by Magpul onto the Ruger 10/22 takedown, it’s great, rightful and we’re gonna, take a look at how to do that. So stay tuned, hey! Welcome back! This is Sean here with rugged outdoors and here on this channel for those that haven’t been here before I talk about all things related to the outdoors, whether it’s hunting fishing camping, shooting anything that relates to getting you and your family outside.

We try to talk about it here through different reviews how to’s and things of that nature, but today we’re specifically gonna talk about how to take this stock off of this Ruger 10/22 takedown and install the Magpul X 22 stock. Now by itself, this isn’t a bad stock. This is how it comes. It’s pretty straightforward, easy to take down a little metal piece right here.

Do that twist it and it comes apart, and this would fit probably in a backpack, but it’s loose and I don’t really want that sliding around banging around on stuff on my backpack, so Magpul makes this X 22 backpacker stock. That’s actually pretty slick, and it’s extremely easy to make modifications to these. So first thing I’m going to do put it back together here and just twist back together and there it is there’s only a couple of screws you need to take out on this to install the X 22 stock and so we’re going to get ready and start doing that.

Okay, so the first thing that I use is there’s this great tool that I think anyone that has a works on guns or does anything that needs particular poundage. Is this what’s called a fat wrench and you look at it here? You can see. I’ve got the actual fat wrench itself and you can see here. It’s got the weight or the pound per inch torquing that you may need you as you do.

This was made by wheeler and all the different little heads and stuff that go with it. I’m pretty sure this is the one I’m going to need the Ruger yep. So that’s the one so I’m gonna use this to take it apart, loosen this screw first, she comes all the way out, and one of the things you’ll want to do is I’m gonna. Take the magazine out too, should take that magazine out earlier, but there it is one things you’ll want to do.

Is this the safety mechanism you’ll want to kind of slide it over to the middle kind of have to hold it there to get this slide right off and then there’s the here’s, the stock, the bottom stock that comes off the problem there yeah I, can actually take the there’s the unit receiver, mag, the bolts and trigger assembly. There’s lots of things you can do to these Ruger 10/22 s.

There’s a previous video I showed where I replace the bolt with that one from Volk Stockman I think is how you say their name. Um I got to link up to the video up there about it. We use it for a particular case. We have a another 1022 that we use that’s suppressed and we want to make it even quieter, so we replace that bolt. They make a better bolt that if you’re not using a suppressed one Volk sauce also makes a better trigger.

So does Ruger Ruger makes a better trigger and we may do that one in another video coming up, but let’s get sup getting the rest of this. Taking apart tiny to change out that piece, there see here some of the undo, it’s pretty straightforward, I mean they make it. You know Ruger designed it this way that you can do so much to these things, but really they’re super super easy to modify in again that other video we’ve seen we changed out.

Magpul makes the next 22 stocks, that’s not a takedown stock, so we took did that on another one. This one, the whole point kind of was to get a different tool for that one, all right so out of all of them, the whatever size that is, there’s the one that works for everything, except for this one, and this is a American. This is 9/64 inch hex-head.

So luckily I have one of those, so we’re gonna take this one apart. This actually has a nut on the other side, so you gotta make sure it stays caught and easy to take out. So there’s that you know watch that little nut that comes out of there and pry that apart and there you go so there I’ve got the barrel is now off and you can change these tactical solutions makes a barrel for the takedown rifle and everything.

So it’s again, it’s crazy all the stuff that you can do put some links down below to some of these things that I’m talking about, but also some links to some other videos that I’ve seen where people have done just amazing stuff with this Ruger 10/22. So, okay, now I’ve got it apart and now I’m gonna do is I’m gonna get the x22 backpacker stock. Here, good old instructions like we’re, gonna read those so here’s the first part of it.

We bought ours in this green color, which I really like and there’s some really TWiki features to this one. There’s this nice little storage compartment here and what this does is. This will store up to three of the ten round. Mags they’ll just fit right in just like that, and you can close that up. So that’s really nice as well. So that’s one of the storage compartments that they do.

They also did some other pieces. You can see where the barrel is gonna, go and fit into this piece right here whenever it’s all folded up, but first thing I’m gonna do is I’m gonna go ahead and put the trigger and all that assembly back in here. Okay, so the way you get that in is you kind of put the back end in first and then slide it back down on there.

So then we’re going to take that same one that we used and put that back in there, so that we got that in here, and this goes in and pour the instructions that Magpul provides. You do this to a twenty pounds, tighten the screw to twenty pound. Okay. So that’s what we’re gonna do so on this. It’s really nice I can just you pull this. Pour it down here and you’re going to set that to twenty pounds, and you can see there there’s a little red line there, where it sets it to 20 pounds, and so I’m gonna just put that in here sorry sniff a little bit I look like a cold or something it’s kind of cold here.

Finally, Oklahoma has been warm as all heck. Finally, cool off. Okay, so now I got it tight. Oh tighten and you hear it now. Click well, that’s 20 pounds. So there’s there’s a bottom part all done right. So that was simple. Super simple, well Magpul also includes two different pieces here for the front on. This is actually a cheek riser. If you want to swap out these, if you want the taller cheek rise here, you can swap out and use this one.

Instead, we’re not worried about that. Much right now, I mean our primary motive, for this particular gun was that we wanted one that we can stick in our backpack and go whenever we go on hiking or whatever in a quote-unquote survival situation. I could hunt with it if I needed to whether it’s rabbits or squirrels, but primarily just a fun excuse to do something cool so now I’m going to put this other piece on here.

This is the hand rest that really goes around on the fore end to the barrel. There’s a hole right here you can see and that’s where this is going to slide into, and it just slips right in there now what they’ve done. Also I’m gonna. Take it back out and show you something is you can take this out? This insert piece right here. You can take this out depending on the barrel that you may have.

Some people may actually have a thicker barrel because they buy a bull barrel or whatever, and they can put replace that. So you have that in there if you need to, but we just have the stock barrel, so I’m gonna put that back in. So you see, there’s a little hole slot where the release goes. Okay, so there’s that you can take that bolt, this is the same one.

You set it to 20 pounds as well. You want doing this. One of the things that we saw haven’t decided on it is we don’t know what scope I want to use for this and I’m thinking about red dot or something. So if you’ve got any ideas, please drop those down in the comments below I’d love to hear what your input is. So again, this bolt right here is gonna go down to 20 pounds, so there it is it’s set to 20 pounds and folks, that’s it.

The mag poll is all set up so now I can put it together and there’s the night pull backpacker stock replaced in minutes. It’s gonna take longer to do the video than it will to actually do the work. But what I like about the way this is all gonna go together. So I put the back end of the barrel onto this into this slot here and it slides together and there it all is: there’s the whole thing put together.

Now you can see it and it’s gonna fit it’s locked in place so to get it out, I, don’t know what you do know to get it out. There’s two: you squeeze these right here and that will take it out of the stock, but there it is all locked in place nice and handy and could just fit right in the backpack and remember what I said that you put the magazines you can fit three magazines right here: put them in the right way, put three 10-round magazines in there, and this just fits right in your backpack and you’re set to go again.

We’re gonna, put a scope of some kind again I want to keep it small and low-profile, not exactly what it does have irons, which really for most of what we’re gonna be doing. Ironsight should be okay. If you can’t hit a squirrel at the iron sights, you need to practice some more but anyway, so there’s the Magpul x22 backpacker stock installed on a Ruger 10/22 on a takedown rifle and I hope.

In this video we’re going to be reviewing the Magpul x22 backpacker, if you’re like many of Americans out there today, you own or have owned a Ruger 10/22. In fact, since the introduction of the 1022, which came out in 1964, there’s been over five million different copies made of the 1022 since that time, I also have an additional videos on the takedown models as well, but one of the the models that I like the most is the takedown model, which came out in 2012.

Again. Additional video is provided on this and there’s many different accessories. In fact, there’s a whole cottage industry of accessories that are out there far too many to cover in videos. But occasionally there are some options that come out which I really like, especially when they add value to the 1022 kind of bring it back to life again, similar to what the takedowns did and one of those is the Magpul x-22 backpacker, which is the replaceable stock and for grip for the for the takedown ten 22s, and that’s what we’re going to be reviewing today so first off.

What are some of the things that I like about the X 22? Well, first off, it creates and makes a very modular system for the 1022. So if you’re not familiar with this first off, you’ve got these little pinch levers here that release the foregrip and, of course, there’s your rifle. Now it’s a standard, takedown process. The difference is how it actually folds in storage up. So in this case, there’s a rubber catch pad and back catch the back of the barrel, and then it locks down into the mechanism here, making a very slim and very strong package for your takedown model.

Now you compare that, for example, to previous storage options where, when you buy a 1022, you get this and this bag folds open, and you have the ability to do a number of different things with it. But you can also tell when this bag is fully loaded out, it’s very thick and when you compare that, for example, to the profile of the backpacker, you get a very slim option for being able to store and transport the 10/22, which gives you another option, which Magpul is very smart and coming up with this as far as the modularity, it doesn’t stop there there’s a lot of features that Magpul provides with this as well, so, first off there’s a storage compartment in the stock, and you have two different lid options.

One is a raised lid. So if you have a higher mounted optic on your 10:22, you might want to have a better cheek, weld or cheek support on this. All you have to do. Is you literally pop this off the pivot and then replace it with this higher cheek? Well now, in this case, what I have with my scope setup? It is actually fine for me. I can use either one as an option here, but Magpul provides you with both into your system, you’re, also going to notice that with this modularity also comes storage, so you have the ability to store a different types of things within the buttstock.

So, for example, you have the ability to store up to three of the standard standard, 1022 10-round magazines, and you also have additional storage options as well, which we’ll talk about in a moment. But the point is, it creates a lot of modularity for you as well. So not only do you have the ability to add storage cheer your unit, but you also have the ability to do other things as well. So one of those is adding QD mounts. So if you have rifles and you use QD slings, a lot of people use them now in ar-15s and other platforms, you now have the ability to add as an additional feature, the the type 1 or type 2 mouse.

That Magpul provides, which is the QD mounts which I provided links to all these accessories. I have here in the comment section, but this is a great way to work around that, because the old model I had I would have to modularize this myself, so I had to drill holes and put in my own QD mounts into the stock rifle where the actual QD mounts are actually provided for me into the into the system, which makes it great. Another thing is: if you find that your 1022 comes up a little bit short, maybe you’re a very large person and you want a large longer stock plate but plate.

You can also change these out as well, and then you have different color variations which we’ll go through in a moment. So there’s a lot of different features and functionalities. You have with this as well, in addition to a storage into the it’s actually a watertight storage grip which we’ll go into in a moment as well. Another thing I like about is just it’s a slim profile, so it gives you the ability to take your 10 22 as a name and denotes as a backpacker I mean you could literally slip this into a bag or maybe into a small compartment of your car, whereas you might not be able to fit the larger 1020 to storage bag.

That is provided with the takedown models with your rifle. So what are some of the drawbacks to the X 22? Well, the only drawback I can come up with is just cost, and it’s not that this is in particular is expensive. It’s just the fact that 10 22s over the years have literally created an industry of different options that you can add to them and all that costs actually add up pretty fast. So, in addition to your takedown rifle, for example, I’ve included, you know my own favorite scope and scope mount that I put on my on my 10 22 takedowns, which again I link to in the comment section and I have another video on in particular.

I also have the other video talk about how I change out the triggers in the 1022. So by the time you start adding up all the costs and components you have in the 22 you it can add up pretty fast. So you just have to be careful because what you might be spending money on initially to buy your 10/22 takedown again, you can almost double that cost with all the accessories you can put on to your 1022. So if there’s any drawback to the 1022 and this system is just the fact that adds potentially another cost, but it’s a really cool feature to have on the rifle.

If you have one now as far as what it provides in capacity now, one of the questions you’re going to get a lot from people is ok. How many can you hold in here? So in addition to the 10 round magazine that you can put that that you can have in your receiver, you can have three additional rounds or 1022 standard Ruger magazines into the stock here. So that will give you a total loadout if you have fully loaded magazines of 40 rounds. So 10 plus 30, however, you have some different configurations.

You can do on this as well. So one of the things you’re going to notice here is there’s a plate that can be replayed that can be removed. That allows you, for example, to put in additional boxes of 22 as opposed to additional, fully loaded magazine. So in this case you could drop in in this case. It’s a tightly packed brick of 50 rounds or you can have the ones that they have this segregated plates either. One fits in here and fits in here. Well now, one things you’re going to notice when you put it in here is it’s actually, you still have some gap here and the gap is the largest at the end of the butt plate or near the butt plate which allows you, for example.

If you want to maximize your loadout one of the things you don’t want to have do is load this down and then, when you, when you, when you’re operating the gun, this box might actually you know, float around in here and make noise for you, so you’re gonna want something to buffer. To begin with, what I found is, if you take a zip, lock or a self ain´t bag and put additional 25 rounds. You can put this in here and it does two things it allows. You allows the box to be steady within the buttstock, but also allows you an additional load out of 25 rounds so with what you have here as well as with this, you can have a total now of 95 rounds, just in the buttstock alone or and with the magazine that you would have in the rifle so again, if for maximum loadout, if that’s, where you’re looking for I, typically recommend that you have an extra load of magazine, 50 round box in a bag of 25 rounds that you can put in here again to stabilize the box, that’s in there.

You also have an additional feature onto the rifle, which is a storage compartment. That is in the grip here and there’s a little lever right here and then you’ll notice kinda have to wiggle it out, because it’s got a watertight seal on here now, I, don’t know if it’s waterproof, but it’s certainly watertight. You can see that seal and then, if you look down into the storage compartment, you have a storage well in there. That goes about four inches deep by one by one and a half inches in diameter.

So what this allows you to do is to put additional things in here. So, for example, maybe you want to put a knife or you can put a small storage survival kit in there or if you want to really maximize your loadout, you can put another 25 rounds of ammunition down into the storage compartment as well, so that will bring your total load out at a maximum load out of 125 rounds into the rifle as well. So as you can see, you have a lot of different options here as far as capabilities of both storage, as well as utility of the rifle itself.

As far as a ergonomics and weight, the weight of the stock itself actually comes in at about one point: two pounds now, ironically, when you measure that against the stock stocks that come with the Ruger 10/22, it’s about the same weight. In fact, in my case, it’s only a couple or a couple: ounces lighter. So surprisingly, you get a lot more features and functionality with this option than you would on the standard stock options that you have not to mention you forego the storage capabilities that are also provided with here as well.

Another kind of cool thing about this is in addition to the weight gain. You also have you’ll notice. When you have it disassembled is the stock takes the profile of a minimalist type stock, so for any of you that I’ve ever fired a err. 15 that used the minimalist stocks and I have them on a number of my videos of ar-15s I. Have it takes a similar profile to that as well, so and again, very smart usage of what’s provided there? In addition to that, when you shoot it, it’s very comfortable to shoot.

However, one of the big notice differences you’re, going to notice between your stock version as well as the ex version is the fact that the foregrip is going to be shorter. So if you’re, one of those people that really likes to hold very far forward on to the foregrip you’re foregoing a little bit of that with this new stock, then you would have with your standard stock system. However, one of the things I’ve noticed when I fire it it’s actually very comfortable and I can actually pull into my shoulder pretty easily from the front of this stock.

So it is something that you need to be careful of if you like, holding your rifles very far forward. Of course, if you don’t fire it that much the heats not going to be an issue, but if you, if you fire quite a bit on a 1022, this can heat up pretty quickly, but it is one of the limitations you have, potentially with going with the the version that you see here as far as assembly, it’s pretty easy. When you receive the kit, there are two screws that you’re going to be able to mount it on.

So again, you remove the screws that come stock with the standard stocks and then, of course, it’s reassembly is very easy. You can do this with in literally a matter of minutes. What this also illustrates is the fact that some people might be wondering well: hey can I use this on a stock 1022, it’s pretty cool, but I don’t have a takedown. You can’t, because the stock 22 only has one screw for mounting where the takedown version it’s actually two screws.

So this is a system you can only utilize on a takedown version of a 1022 and not a standard non takedown 22 as far as options as you can see, and today, one of the versions I bought was the the flat dark earth, but they do come in different colors. Currently, at the time of filming, you can get these in black olive drab gray or, in this case flat dark earth, which is what I have purchased here. You also have the ability to change out the butt plate, so the mo ESL rubber butt plates are pads.

I’m, sorry that you can put on to the rifle as well again they screw on to the back of the rifle, which makes it pretty easy to change out your mounting. Next to your shoulder as far as utility, what would you use these for? Well, as the named notes, it would be ideal for backpacking again going back to the standard bag. This is a pretty bulky bag, it’s a nice bag and it’s a protective bag, but not exactly something. You’re gonna want to go backpacking with if you wanted to slip this into a bag.

This is the ideal situation to utilize it with you’re, actually just a little bit lighter than your stock versions and the fact that it just creates a very small, slimmer profile to be able to use for backpacking. The other thing is: if you wanted to use it for portable stores beyond backpacking, maybe it’s in your car a lot of times. Cars now have compartments in the back and the trunk below, where sometimes they’re slim in between the spare and a small storage area you’re seeing these in SUV’s, where again the standard bag might be too thick, but this might actually work really well, if you, you know, protect it a little bit with a towel or something to surround it with, but again it makes it very easy to to transport in the back of a car in small storage areas as well.

So, overall, it is a great 20. 10/22 takedown accessory I have one for one of my 10 22s. As you can see here, I love it. It is compact, its lightweight. It really is fun to shoot. It makes the 10/22 even better, and it simply makes the 10/22 even more versatile I thought. One of the best breakthroughs in the ten 22s again came back in in 2012 when they came out with the takedown version and now with the addition of the x22 backpacker. It just makes it even better a fantastic product if you have a chance to own a 10/22, takedown I highly suggest picking up one of these backpackers trying it out for yourself and realizing what I do, which is why this is one of the best accessories out there today for your Ruger 10/22.

Backpacker- and it came in today- went on sale last week, so should be one of the first hands-on reviews. Besides the folks, they got to see it at shot. Show I’m gonna be putting it on my Ruger 10/22 takedown target. This is the model that has the modular stock, came with low and high cheap risers. That’s the takedown version, of course, and it comes with a fluted and threaded barrel, so the Nikon p22, with some QD worn rings for my optics I’ve, also got an armoire that I’m trying to decide if I want to put that up top, but especially with this heavy barrel, I like the magnification there and then, of course, this guy for the thread piece will go ahead and do the unboxing that’s good.

It looks like it’s got the high cheek riser. This is the foregrip, that’s tiny and the stock instruction manual and sticker so because it has the larger barrel. It’s that piece, yep, listen tight, I, get that screwed in so I’m using my fat, wrench torque wrench to torque this down to 20 inch pounds I assembled this thing actually I bought it when a guy kitted it out and he bought this burger target for probably close to $500 parted.

It out only kept the receiver of all things and completely made a custom, but his his project saved me a ton of money, so I just had to go out and buy a receiver, and but again this one goes down to 20 inch pounds. Well, this is the new adjustable cheek piece. I’m, probably gonna, install this since that’s there. So let’s assemble it and take a look now we’ll see if this needs to be adjusted Wow. So that’s great! So simple! This piece is like a rubbish.

So this is, you know the classic hard plastic that Magpul has on just about everything, but where the barrel fits in is very I, don’t know it’s a hard dirt, but it’s soft rubber. It gives so sliding in there feels like it’s going in like an o-ring seal and it just snaps right into place, doesn’t shake or any rattle. Anything I was afraid that taking it apart would be difficult, but press on either side and pull out, and it’s very very simple done so this thing comes apart and you’ve got the dividers that can pull out that one can, something doesn’t seem like it wants to come out, and maybe it’s just one.

It’s it’s just this one. There’s only has one location, but you can slide it in and out so it’s if you can see in there. It’s got indication. This is the profile of a ten round magazine and fit in there and then I guess either additional ones can fit in here or whatever you want to do, paracord or matches which actually matches would probably go in the waterproof compartment that I’ll get to in a second but 50 round box of ammo.

You know whatever it goes a little bit deeper back here, so you can probably shove in a little bit of extra goodies down there. So it looks like this. Just pops off yeah that was simple enough I mean I’m, not concerned that it’s gonna pop off whenever I don’t want it to yeah there we go. That’s probably what I’m gonna go with yeah things are great, feels solid, I didn’t know if it would rattle anymore.

My biggest concern was that it would be difficult to get on and off, but it doesn’t at all- and this doesn’t seem too awkward, because the stock has gone down by probably three inches on the front, and it feels great it’s it’s not as rounded clearly is this one comparison? It’s not rounded. It’s flatter. You know. One thing, I didn’t think about. I’ve got a bipod that I can put on this and now I can’t wonder if they’re gonna come up with some sort of adapter.

For that interesting no place to mount a bipod that I can see. Now you could do QD swivels here for a sling, but nothing for a bipod. So, let’s see, let’s take a look at this. The this is the waterproof storage compartment and it is in there tight. It’s got a pretty good space. Apparently, you can put like a Swiss Army knife in there. If you watch the videos, probably do some fires starting supplies, so yeah here with the can.

This is a nine millimeter cannon. It’s not a dedicated 22 cans. That’s why it’s a little bit fatter than the barrel get the scanner yeah. This is great, please Magpul, x22! Backpacker! Thank you like it. Let me know if you have any question.

The Ruger 10/22 it’s been around for 54, it’s loved by millions, including myself. This just so happens be takedown version other than that I’ve made modifications to it. The TS, the TRS 200 tech, sights B, X 25 box trigger and an extended magazine release, all of which make this rifle much more enjoyable to shoot. However, there’s still one more thing to change the stock.

What I choose to replace the stock with the X 20 backpacker from Mac pool now get to all the reasons why later, but first, let’s see what we have. Okay comes with, obviously the most important part, which is the rear stock. Another cheek riser and the handguard. This plug here is for tapered barrels. If you’re running a bull barrel, you pull this out, but I’m running a standard barrel also comes with instructions.

It would be nice to read those if you’ve never done this before, but you could do that at your own accord. We’ll get to all the key features on to why I’m, replacing it and a little bit, but first, let’s get this into its new furniture. That was easy, and it really is. So how do you do that? If you don’t? Have you never done this before it’s very simple? You only have two action screws, both with your 5/32, your move, those after you, of course you take the rifle apart, get the barrel out of the way up, take us to action, screws and the barrel clamp once those are off the barrel.

Is then ready for assembly. For that you put on the handguard, you make sure you push it towards the back, so it lines up, tighten the front action screw to about 20 inch pounds release. That’s what Magpul says the same thing with the rear receiver slides in the weight slid out of the old stock. Put in one action screw you torque to 20 inch pounds, you put it together and you are done and what you’re left with is a beautiful looking rifle I think the stock looks gorgeous I picked tan, because I just liked hand rifles.

So why did I change the stock? Well, there’s only one real reason for it and if you ever shot at 10:22, especially one with the scope on it or, in my case, high-rise ironsights, you know exactly what I’m on about this comb sucks it’s tapered and it’s low. So whenever you go to get a cheek weld on it, you’re you’re scrounging around trying to figure out a comfortable position to get yourself in behind the optic or in this case the iron sights, and that is the main reason why I’m replacing the stock if I overlay this stuck to the original.

Obviously, this one’s higher, because I have the higher cheek piece in there, but if I didn’t that would be in line with the back and if I line up the relief for the receiver, you can see what I’m on about it tapers a great deal to the back and it’s at least an inch to an inch and a quarter lower at the rear point. So there’s that one difference while we’re here, we can also show the second difference.

It’s a little bit hard to see, but there’s much more relaxed grip on the Magpul stock. Almost like a gooseneck and for me at least this is much more comfortable than this style stock, especially when you’re shooting prone I always have a hard time canting, my wrists too far forward. So what this is gonna allow me to do. You know: don’t need that right now.

What this gonna allow me to do is have a much more straight for arm when I’m in the prone position. So for me, it’s gonna fit me a lot better. Another nice thing about this stock, which just so happened to be part of it. You do get some good and some cool storage such as this one little plug at the bottom of the pistol grip wall right here, a great place to store allen keys for your action or for your sights or extra batteries for an optic, really great solution, and it is overing sealed, so it should be fairly waterproof and, as everyone already knows, it also comes the storage under the comb.

This insert in the rear comes out, so you could put like a bot, a 50 round box of ammunition in there or extra magazines and on the high comb version. You do have a little bit added space where, if you wanted to hot glue, little tools or something else in there really great idea from Magpul I, don’t know why more stocks have that everyone else who has ever watched any sort of any of these videos on this stock also know that this should clip right inside and like so as far as the front guard.

There’s nothing really to say it is shorter by a fair amount than the factory guard. Is that going to make it make a difference for most people? Well, that’s something you have to decide for me. It does not because it allows me a great purchase in the front where I can grab it and really pull it into my shoulder. If I had to one last thing that this stock option has over a factory stock is the option for a sling, so these are for quick release, swings slim, studs, they’re, not included with the stock.

You have to purchase those separately link will be in the description there’s one here and one here, I do wish. There was one farther forward, but this is better than nothing I forgot to mention that I did toy around the idea of getting a Kydex cheek riser for this. For some that’s also an option. I do like how they look in most cases, but when you start pricing them up they’re about 40 bucks and 40 bucks versus 90 bucks, yeah, there’s there’s another $50 in there somewhere.

But when you go to install a cheek riser on a factory stock, you have to drill hole, so it ruins the stock and sometimes they’ll fit all that good and you don’t get the added benefits of, or these I didn’t get the added benefits from this stock, which is a nicer color for me, and the Edit storage inside the buttstock or in the pistol that basically sums it up.

What do I think I think the stock is really nice, I think mag bullet Magpul does a great job with the fit and finish of their products. I, like the color combinations that they have tan, of course, being my most favorite, but if I couldn’t do the tan I’d probably go with the gray. The gray is another. Nice option reminds me of the stare scout steyr scout and that’s basically it all right.

Hey guys up here, I think I’ve got a pretty cool product for you guys on the back of my pack. Here, I’ve got the Magpul a clunky backpack, hey Doc, maybe just for the Rupert incoming to take down my own voices. This piece will purchase it and we’re going to be able to think cause. You look at it here. Let’s go ahead and grab rabid pack get a little bit of rain here, but a few holds up nice and compact.

Pushing your buttons here comes right out: snaps, together you’re ready to go, take a little bit of an outpost. Look at the set, alright guys! So we’ve got the stock here in front of us, as you can see like I was saying outside. If it’s done really nice and compact, we do have the x-22 backpacker sight mount on there and it’s a really cool setup.

Overall I will say it can be a little bit heavy if you’re, adding it to a pack setup. You already got it’s somewhere around the 5 pound weight, but that is with ammo stored in the back portion as well as the sight. If it was my setup, I probably opt out of the sight, so like I was saying all you got to do. Is you have these depressions here on either side you just push it pull out.

It comes right out, as you can see right down here. You’ve got a nice rubber. Grommet keeps it from breaking the plastic, or anything like that in the back here you do have a storage unit. You go ahead and pop it up. You can see. We’ve got two 10-round magazines stored in here, as well as an Altoid cans with about 20 some-odd rounds in there as well.

Now in the back here, this divider right here is removable, so you can put some larger things. If you wanted to. This is just how he has it set up. This is the larger cheek riser does come with a flat one as well. This just allows for a better cheek weld when you’re using a red dot sight in the bottom. Here you can see, we do have the storage unit.

That is waterproof. It’s a little bit tight in there. If you pull it out, you can see it’s sealed. We’ve got a Bic lighter it’s perfectly down inside there you could put some tender, maybe some dryer, lint or waterproof matches fishing kit. Whatever you need to moving on up to the front, we do have points for QD sockets. You do have to buy those extra.

Those are about 20 bucks apiece. There are some aftermarket options available and you have those on both side. So very nice I really really like the grip angle of this works really really well as compared to the factory and is very similar to their SGA stock that they put out for their Mossberg and the Remington 870 s very cool.

So on the back here you do have your standard rubber, butt plate again same as the SGA stocks and I believe one hunter 700 stocks. So moving on to the front, you can see much shortened forend than your traditional one. That goes out to about the a still looks very nice, I will say with putting the optic mount. There is a little bit of movement in here when you’re, not attaching it together.

However, once you attach them together, it does eliminate that movement. The optic mount, does work well, just a little cheap field, sport red dot on here, nothing too crazy and as I was saying, if you take the two of them, you line them up slide it together, so rotate it and clips into place gives you a really really nice package overall I’m, very impressed with the stock, went out and shot with it a little bit earlier today, I may or may not have some footage of that, depending on how well it turned out.

I haven’t reviewed it yet, but a great little stock. This thing weighs about 5 pounds and could be a little bit too much weight if you have a pre-existing pack set up, but if you are looking to get a 22 out there great option I also look into the Chiappa little badger, it’s very lightweight, but that’s a single shot, so yeah all in all, I think this is a really really great option after getting at some hands-on with it, I’ll definitely be looking to get one of these bad boys for myself and I.

The Ruger 10/22 was developed in 1964 it over five million were produced. It’s a great little rifle I have a number of them, because they’re just solid, and if I only had one 22 rifle it would be the Ruger 10/22 they did bring out their takedown model and then Magpul jumped in with the X 22 backpacker. This makes the 10/22 takedown model very compact, bring out your forehead and your barrel line it up. Lock it into place, and now you have a full size rifle now, Ruger introduced their takedown model back in 2012, and this is a brand new stainless steel with the composite black stock is from ruber.

The stickers are still on it, and this is also from Thad. He just brought both of them and it made a good comparison, but this is a great rifle in itself and same kind of features where it just plugs right into the barrel very easily. With this you have one consolidated rifle: the barrel is attached right to the stock, and so it makes it really compact, of course, Magpul being so innovative guys, I’m telling you I’ve dealt with mag pol for a long time and they just have good solid products.

I mean the features on this. Polymer are just really exceptional. It has a kind of a texturized finish to it and again it just makes it such a small package. The length is 19 and a half inches, it’s five and a quarter inches with the widest part. So this really easily fits into a decent sized backpack. You do have a solid pistol grip. There is texturing right here and of course, you do have a compartment underneath and a compartment here, which we’ve shown you, but I’m gonna go ahead and just open this up, just a little catch comes open.

You can put three magazines, we have one out that we were using, but they fit right in here. The compartments are made that way. Now it only fits in one direction. It’ll show you just pops right in. You can take this little spacer out and instead of bag, essenes drop it in a box of 50 rounds, close it up and you’re ready to go or again, you can put your three magazines in here. Magpul also offers a higher cheek riser, so you can get this more lined up with an optic. It also has a black rub, but pad that is anti-slip ya hit places for cutie sockets, if you want to add them here at the back, and also right here at the front, now has a rubberized to insert right here.

So when you’re putting in your chamber, it’s not going to damage it, so you can slide it in it gives you a little bit of room and then you can just bring this in and lock it down, but it’s really easy to remove and then, when you want to put it back into place and it’s locked down solid now right here at the end of your pistol grip, there’s a compartment and there’s a little lever right here that you have to actually lift up, and then you pull this out so a little bit snug, because it has this seal right here.

So this is waterproof. So anything you put in here is gonna. You know be protected from the elements just bring it back in then it snaps into place. Now, when attaching your barrel, you want to bring it into at an angle to the left side and then just turn it. It actually will push the bolt back just to touch when you do that, but when you’re taking this down, of course, this lever right here what I do is I just get. It started pull back on my bolt and then open it up and it pulls right out, and so you have your chamber right here.

It kind of sticks out and it’s a good, solid, lock up the lock up is definitely really solid. This particular model has fiber optic, rear and front sights, and that really stands out. This one has the threaded barrel. Now the weight on the Ruger take down 4 pounds, 10 ounces and the weight on the Magpul x22 backpacker four pounds. Eight point: six ounces. That includes the three extra magazines. Of course, the stock has a little bit of an open here and, of course this is where your forearm goes.

They do make an aftermarket scope, mount that’ll go attached to your barrel and it actually sticks out right here, but it still makes it a really compact package. So what I really think? That’s a great addition and that’s one of the problems with a lot of backpacker or survival-type rifles is mounting an optic here we have the Marlin Papoose. This is a stainless model. Then we have the Henry survival rifle, and this is I really like this very compact, and then we have the Ruger 10/22 takedown and in the Magpul x-22 backpacker.

Definitely a lot of differences between these with the Henry survival rifle it’s a little more, a disassembly and assembly. But everything fits back here into the back, even magazines. Here we have them all laid out and configured the one advantage of the Henry survival rifle is that it does float and it does compact into the smallest package and it’s the lightest weight, but putting an optic on it really and being able to collapse. It is really a no go with the Papoose, it’s a little more difficult just because you have to unscrew the barrel, but this has been a traditional survival rifle for a long time and I, really like it.

In fact, I like both of these, the Ruger 10/22, really came out with the 1022 reliability and just all the aftermarket support. Then we see the Magpul x-22 backpacker. Now the Ruger takedown will be the most expensive out of these three. Then you add your X 22 stock and it definitely ups the ante, but it gives you a lot of cool features. One of the things I love about the X 22 backpacker- is that it is solid. I mean Magpul, doesn’t do anything halfway. There. Stocks are some of the best on the market very well finished.

The design is excellent and very well thought-out, so this makes it excellent to be able to slip into a pack, no matter what adventure you’re going on. You know whether it’s a day out in the woods whether you’re, even going hunting you’re going on a camping trip, you’re boating, which, with boating I, would prefer definitely a stainless steel model and then, of course, for in a survival situation. I mean this makes an excellent survival option if you want to carry 22 long-rifle with the extra magazines, the very compact package, even adding the Magpul scope mount, which still allows this to be broken down into this configuration, it’s just great for a number of different things and again it’s just that solid compact little package and you’ve got that rubberized, butt pad for excessive recoil and a big thanks for that for loaning me this rifle for this test & Evaluation.

This has been a great experience top notch. A lot of features very compact, and you know guys. The price is right. If you want to go up to the hunter model, the hunter x, 22 model, of course, there’s a lot more features is heavier, but definitely a little more solid. Now the price on these stocks, retail, is 109 95 and that’s on the Magpul website. I saw it for just a little less than retail in a lot of places, but at Big Daddy and limited these runs $75 99 the hunter x-22 stock, which is little more complicated.

They retail for 149 95. You can get it Big, Daddy, unlimited for a hundred and 399, so I highly recommend you guys checking out Big Daddy unlimited comes in a black comes in an FTE I believe it comes in gray as well, and then, of course, this OD green, because when it comes to prepping and survival, there’s a lot of different information out on the web, and it takes a lot to try to find and source. What’s credible and what’s not one of the best sources that I know is survival dispatch insider? They use some of the top names in the survival community.

Hey guys are throwing three just 88 here review and a continuation of the testing of a Ruger 10/22 takedown with the Magpul takedown hunter stock. Now this course is the takedown, so what Matt gold did was basically take the existing furniture that they had for the 10/22 takedown and upgrade it to the Magpul stock and forend.

So one of the biggest questions I have for this right now is: does that modification with the new medical stock fit the bag and gin tell it sure, does so open it up is the inside of the bag every barrel forum, assembly stock receiver, and you can see that when it is tucked in there, this actually can actually velcro. Just fine, no big deal whatsoever, and this is with at least three spacers.

You could probably even put the fourth if you want to, and of course just like the 1020 does works great, because I’m shooting in so we’re at about 25 yards right now, it’s kind of hitting some steel out there popping some dirt clumps with the 10/22 takedown, using a mix match of ammunition. Some CCI I think some some golden bullet by remington some hollow points.

Just a mix of everything seems of working good. So far you can see, I did add an extra spacer on here and I actually did add the actual spacer that goes just under the barrel that I actually showed you guys in the install it turns out. You don’t need it, but it does start to wiggle a little bit. So if you don’t want it to kind of jiggle too much, you can put the spacer in there.

It’s a 1022. It’s not going to affect accuracy too much and, as you can tell, it hits everything. Just fine dud, probably golden bullet. Alright, so I brought us out to 100 yards I, put a target down there, as well as a actual frozen lemonade, jug full of water. They work excellent for just kind of goofing off and lasts quite a while we’ve another camber downrange get some footage there and what I did was I’m going to shoot ten rounds of standard, CCI standard velocity and then probably bout 15 rounds of this Remington golden bullet.

So it’s kind of see how we do and I’m actually going to shoot it on this foam action, sports just kind of right off the car trunk and see how we do all right up. First, ten rounds, CCI going through the paper target all right, empty. Try the golden bullet stuff go off of that jug, no Jam! Alright, so you can see it a hundred yards.

We got all ten rounds on target within about a foot not too bad and then, when you look at what the golden bullet did, this almost all hits very nice you’re going to hear a downrange and you do hit it’s kind of a whack noise, so that is good to go, but the stock makes easy work for 10 22 a long range all right, we’re back in the table with the Ruger Magpul hunter x, 22 takedown stock for the Ruger 10/22.

You can see that it’s unloaded nice and dirty in there have to clean itself and last trip here. But at a hundred yards I mean it’s really not bad with a dis iron, sights kind of almost free handing it with this little bit of rest there. But how do guards isn’t bad I mean it’s all headshots 100 yards is great. Definitely a good group there now I just want to give you guys a close-up of this stock here kind of take a look there and put a round on the bottom for the bipod on there, a little lock rail lead closed up there.

The really nice stock I mean economic, cesare great. You might have seen my review on the Mossberg 500 shotgun stock, the SGA and you’ll notice, actually that the similarities are there, but the 1022 the actually overlap. It is a little bit different if you notice that they’re just a little bit, the angle is actually a little different on where the pistol grip is it’s actually a little bit sharper, which is interesting.

The design is about the same. If you flip it flip it over design back here is but the same, a little bit different I think all the different cuts. Of course, the angle a little bit different there, which is kind of neat, so it’s not exactly the same stock as I might have thought originally, but it is very close, very close, so let’s go and take the butt pad off here.

What you actually do is you have a couple of cool options here, so you actually have your quick detach here. You actually pop this plug out a little inserts in there little metal inserts, and you can go and put swivel QD mounts in there. But if you unscrew right here, you can actually go and take apart of the butt plate here and add the spacers as well as various cheek risers, which is really nice and just like the SGA of the shotgun slides out, just like that and you’ll know that it’s only one sided screw here.

There’s nothing on this side. If X, you want like the threaded side right here, you can see that so it comes out- and you have these spaces on here, like so, depending on what kind of length of pull you’d like you know, to change out the butt pad. If you want with screws here and go and also you can remove the chip rather clean, get it off and there you go so it has actually popped straight up.

It actually looks like it’s rides. A little bit forward has it’ll clip on the front from here, so you actually go and you can lift it straight up and out has a little logo on the back they’re kind of cool made in the USA. So let’s go about this, is it comes with one for the iron sights, but you actually buy kits, and here they are right here, the same kit for the shotgun.

Now, when you get a kit like this, you actually go and it comes to the obviously of your low and you have a little box. There give a medium and a high. So let’s say you want to put a high one on here say if you have a red dot or scope, perhaps on there, which is very possible with a Ruger 10/22. The shotgun people do put scopes on there by no robot is very meaningful to have long there, but you can see it adds quite a bit of a cheek rest to it compared to the original, which is kind of cool.

So now you can go and put a put some scope on there put maybe an iron sight on the side, put a red dot on man, metal, hope with the cheek cheek rest here to help you kind of get up to the level they jump. It kind of rides really high. So that’s pretty cool! You got a sling actually right here, as well as QD on this side.

Qd both sides- you have a sling mount on both sides as well, just pop right off with that put the old one back in slide this back in easy. So that part is really cool. It’s very versatile! You can really upgrade it. However, you like with the ability to really change out the various stock level here on the back here and putting a length of pull and how high you want your cheek riser to be that part is really cool the screw down here.

You can actually take this apart if you needed to which is probably not needed, if I’m sure, if it got really dirty or muddy or something you can probably take it apart. You know secure this back in, so you guys couple more things and I think as we wrapping up here, make sure you take your time with these screws, don’t make them slip it on be super tight, Marion type that they’re not going to back up very easily.

So again the grip. You have some checkering on the sides here, some of the Magpul kind of like magical checker in here, and you also have some straight lines across here. So you can see when you grip it, you can wrap around pulley, it’s not going to flip around too much you easily reach the safety crossbolt safety right there trigger course.

Just fine, you get a mag release, not you know it’s not being obstructed by any of the stock. Here you kind of go over here. The only thing I would say that I don’t like about this back is I. Think this hole is a little tight for a thumb. Now, of course, a regular thing you can get in there. They can see a thumb you can’t really get too far in then it kind of just squeeze it in and get this thing apart, but once you do it’s pretty easy to get in there.

It’s not too bad. Let’s just a thumbs a little bit too wide. I guess not terrible, but I did add a spacer. You can see the barrel, so you can hold it steady enough, for you see that so the barrel can wobble, it’s definitely free-floating. There’s a spacer. You add in here you screw it in from the bottom and you actually go and I don’t see it from here, but the spacer in there was this rides on.

Of course, it’s just a 22 barrel, so it’s not going to affect accuracy. You could free float it. The only thing I noticed is that the barrel intended to wobble up and down a little bit as I mentioned so I ended up putting the spacer in there. If you want to officially free float it, it might help a little bit, but that’s an option.

You can have very well constructed. I can’t really complain on that. The ergonomics is great compared to especially compared to the original standard stock cetera zone stock. I mean this was short of the act. It was very short here kind of went down to there, so this even added a little blacks to height there. Even without the cheek risers you get an extended handle on here, a little nub.

It kind of works, but definitely there’s a little thing. So so that’s it guys, no problems. Of course mags you can see the 10 rounder is everything fits just fine. This does wrap around the mag. Well, you can see the sides here. The stock right here, I, don’t think, put in right, yeah, no problem, – the mags little 10 round.

Carbine with millions of aftermarket parts and the takedown version is no exception today, we’ll be taking a closer look at Magpul dynamics, newest stock set for the 10/22 takedown, the x-22 hunter takedown, the Ruger 10/22, as I said before, has an exhaustive array of aftermarket parts, and while the majority of these parts are compatible with the takedown version of the rifle furniture is not.

Thankfully, companies like Magpul Dynamics have adapted their existing designs to fit the new takedown version of the rifle, in this case the x-22 hunter takedown. Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two decades, chances are you’ve heard of macro dynamics. Now, originally Magpul only made their namesake literally mag, poles that make porn the magazines out of the carrier pouch and easy later.

They moved on to making ultra reliable stanag magazines and furniture for the ar-15 and accessories for other firearms. Well, these other firearms is the 1022. Now the latest product for the 1022 is the X 22 hunter takedown and, like the name, suggests it’s built for small game hunting and clinking. How so well, the X 22 is clearly designed for using Achatz on a 1022. It includes several features like an adjustable height comb that allows shooters to get a perfect repeatable sight picture when running an optic, its length of pores also adjustable via stock spacers, how to replace by a single machine screw now.

This isn’t just so shooters with different length. Arms can get a comfortable grip on the gun, but also to make sure that these shooters can get a proper sight picture, because optics tend to have different eyerly I’m. Looking at you, Trijicon Plus give them a relatively small amount of rail space on the 10/22 moving the shooters head is often easier than shifting the Scopes position. Other noteworthy features include a rubberized butt pad that prevents the gun from shifting out of the shooters shoulder during firing and traditional sling loops on either side of the stock.

Now, forward of this, the X 22 as a 60 degree off for grip that features motor grip panels for a more positive shooting ring, and it’s anger is important as it allows the shooter to get in position behind the gun when it’s resting on a bipod orbit on a bench rest, it’s often difficult with an optic to use a traditional stock comb when you’re that close to the rifle. Now, if you’re, looking to squeeze even more accuracy as your takedown rifle you’ll, be happy to know that, like the normal X 22, the takedown version also supports the use of heavy profile barrels with the included bail.

Sled, simply flip the sled around to utilize it with a heavy profile barrel. Now, just beneath this sled is the handguard which features three sets of em lock slots for mounting accessories like angled, four grips rail segments or really anything a shooter wants. Now. I’ve only fired a few hundred rounds through my 10/22 takedown, with the Magpul stock installed so far, but I really like it thus far.

One thing I immediately notice after installing it is that the center of balance shifts dramatically towards the butt of the rifle from a Blee. This was done to counterbalance the excess weight added when mounting optics, but it’s also great for balancing out heavy muzzle devices like sound suppressors, which are a must-have on a rimfire automatic. Also despite the comb height of the X 22 stock, it’s still usable with my favorite upgrade for the 1022 tech sights.

These are essentially usgi type aperture, sights that dramatically increase the shooter villain of a stock 1022 by both increasing the sight radius and simplifying the aiming process by allowing the shooter to simply concentrate on the front sight post. Lastly, in terms of fit and finish, the X 22 takedown stock is clean without any visible molding marks or seams and both parts of the stock mate.

Well with the 10/22 takedown carbine tested the sock exhibited no wobble or play, but there is one downside to the stock in general, it doesn’t permit free-floating the barrel now. This might seem like a total deal-breaker to some, but in testing it didn’t really make a huge difference in terms of practical accuracy when utilizing match grade ammo and a decent optic. The 10/22 takedown that I tested achieve groups just over 1 MOA at 50 yards, so roughly 0 6 inches.

Now. For me, this is more than adequate, as I only use my rimfire rifles to hunt small game and instruct new shooters. Usually this game is hunted within 30 yards and at this distance the 1022 and I test it with the Magpul X 2200 stock, grouped under a quarter inch with decent ammo from CCI. That’s far more accurate than I’m capable of shooting, especially from an unsupported position overall with an MSRP of $149 95.

The x-22 hunter takedown is a neat addition to the Ruger rim, Fire’s arsenal of available upgrades and, while I personally think, the styling is cool. I understand that it’s not for everyone, but the ergonomics are solid enough to make up for any futuristic appearance for pragmatic shooters, like myself. Shooters who only run iron sights would probably be better served with a different stock set.

But if you intend to run optics and shoot your 1022 with either a bipod from the prone position or from the bench rest there’s no better option for the money on the market. Thanks guys, don’t forget to Like comment and subscribe for more brush reviews.

It’s that it’s got storage built into the stock under the cheap piece. Here it comes set up, so you can take three factory. Ten twenty to ten round, mags put them right in the stock shut, it doesn’t rattle. You can carry an extra thirty rounds right there in the gun, but if you pull the back two mags up, there’s a removable spacer and a standard 50 round box of 22 ammo will slide right in there and then you’ve got sixty rounds on the gun. Everywhere you go safe. We store it in the bud stock.
