Outdoor Research’s HighCamp Mitten performs well in the backcountry, resort, or where ever else it goes. Designed with a new Vertical X insulation, this mitten retains warmth even when you’re out in the blower storm of the season. The waterproof Ventia insert fends off snow and moisture to protect your hand so there won’t be any chilling liquid seeping into the glove. And when the storm finally ceases as you crest up to the ridgeline scoping out your line of fresh snow ready to be carved, take off the outer shell of the mitt and take a photo of the scenery with your phone while wearing the touchscreen compatible liner.

The highest primaloft insulation that you can get the lightest and the highest warmth to weight ratio that prevalent. Offers there are 170 grams of that prima. Loft in the actual mitten itself and in. The liner there’s actually 340 grams of. That primaloft insulation so there’s a really ample amount of insulation throughout the entire glove that’s going to provide warmth in the most extreme. Conditions on the exterior we’ve got. Some nice rip stop nylon and in. Combination with a really nice petard leather palms so you’ve got really good. Weather resistance and awesome durability with those leather palms so. They’re gonna provide grip dexterity and supple feel while being really. Durable so we’ve got really excellent. Materials top-of-the-line materials throughout the entire mittens here some. Of the features on the mittens include a. High loft moon pile fleece on the inside. So there’s a fleece on the inside of the mitten itself as well as the liner that. Comes inside now the liner is removable. So you can actually take off the shell. Glove and there is a nice liner in there. As well and as i mentioned that liner is. Fully insulated as well with that three hundred and grams of primaloft and this guy does. Have some extra grip function on the fingers and on the thumb there so you’ve. Got a really nice removable liner on the. Inside you can choose to adjust the. Liner or just the mitten you know the. Mittens gonna give you some insulation and also have that fleece on the inside should you choose to use it by itself, but they are designed to go together for. Those extreme conditions now as you can. See we do have a removable idiot cord on. The outside of the glove so in the event that the mitten shell comes off you can. Make sure you have it strapped down so you don’t lose that and there is a nice gauntlet feature as well so you get. Ample weather protection all the way up. To the above the wrists so it works in unison with a jacket and it’s got a really easy one-handed adjustment so you can just pull that to loosen it and then. Pull the little rubber tab there to. Tighten it back up so there’s a webbing tab for loosening and a rubber tab for. Tightening it back down it’s got a really nice feature there one-handed adjustment makes it very easy we do have a clip on the outside of. The glove here all of them in here so you can easily clip that to a harness or a pack should you choose to do that and. There is a glove clip as well so on. Either one of the mittens you can clip them together when you’re not using them, so they don’t disappear on you so a nice. Glove clip feature there an additional. Feature with the gloves to ensure that you get a proper fit every time is that. There is a nice velcro attachment on the. Aligner mitten that works in unison with. The shellman to ensure that it stays in. Place and it’s not sliding around on the inside of the glove, so they integrate they work well together, and they make sure they’re stuck together when you have the you know the combination of them on now the fit of the mitten is a. Fairly loose fit I’m wearing a large i normally do wear larges and I’ve got room for my fingers to move so i don’t feel claustrophobic or awkward at all and there’s ample insulation space. Around my hand so i can tell that you. No i could be out and really cold temperatures and that cold air isn’t going to be able to penetrate through because of the ample amount of insulation brought on by the liner as. Well as in the mitten together so really. Nice room really warm gloves they’re just wonderfully warm while being super. Lofty now because their mittens they’re not the most dexterous gloves out there. But they do offer more warmth and more. Insulation than you’d find in a separated five finger glove so really. Ample warmth and just overall really. Great materials so there you have it if. You’re seeking an 8,000 meters summit or. You need a mitten for extreme cold climates the outdoor research men’s. Hi this is brown of pro-leg gear and. Today we are we talking about the mountain equipment rondon a glove this is a new one from mountain equipment beautiful design on these as well now there’s a shoulder dry skin extreme on the back of. The hand on the palm this is petard. Armor tan leather they make several. Different grades of the petard it’s still goat skin still very soft very supple yet very durable and water-resistant by grain of the leather this is just a little bit tougher and stronger than there aren’t than their oil tack whether they use on the really grippy climbing gloves it shares the. Three part thumb with the super alpine. Glove it’s got the snot wipe on the. Bottom of the thumb so you can kind of you know suck back some snot when you’re on the lift or when you’re touring somewhere sure low dry skin extreme there and then the leather going across the front of the thumb so it’s still very dexterous on the inside of the glove there’s this wonderful pile lining it’s almost like sticking your hand in a rabbit glove like rabbit lion glove it’s just a super soft feeling teflon. Reinforced new-school hook and loop velcro cuff incredibly warm incredibly. Comfortable these would be for me good. Down to zero degrees touring as long as I’m moving quickly my hands will stay incredibly warm in these rolled fingers throughout for added dexterity because they are a little bit thicker of a glove wonderful design by mountain equipment. Hi this is brad with proline gear and. Today we’re gonna be talking about the guide glove for mountain equipment this is a very nicely designed glove and at 50 dollars you really can’t beat this glove it is. Completely waterproof using mountain. Equipment dry light membrane it’s highly waterproof highly breathable with. A micro pile lining insert kind of that kind of rabbit kind of rabbit fur style. Feeling on the inside very warm, and they bond it inside there so when you pull your hand out the lining doesn’t move around your hands so when other gloves are a soggy mess and are difficult to get off these will slide on and off with ease many times the grey portion here is a nice nylon material and the back is a stretch panel so the glove will move and articulate very nicely this is a cowhide. Leather palm not the tarts this is gonna be very durable for the guy so I’m doing a lot of belays just a very tough leather glove rolled fingers for added dexterity and then give you a little extra leather on the tips of the fingers which decrease dexterity a little bit but increased durability if you’re having to grab rocks or anything like that while you’re climbing or using ski poles snot wipe on the bottom of the. Glove nylon on the top part of the thumb and three-part thumb that shares design. With all their other gloves fantastically well-designed well-thought-out pre articulated fingers for. Belay so you can hold on a little bit better or hold on to rock or your tools they fit true to size I’m a xl and. These xl fit my hand perfectly if you. Of neoprene just to add a little bit of comfort in the cuff and I’m gonna pull these out here to show you how they fit. The gloves fit absolutely wonderfully. Right here looking at these petard soiltac palm there’s a little bit of texture to it as well as just the adjust. The goatskin there it’s incredibly dexterous due to the three part thumb. Design right here so kind of it’s a they called snap wipe right here as well. A little bit softer and the thumb is built in three places so it has this roll tip finger so when you go to grab a carabiner you can actually feel the nose. Feel the gate feel the screw part in your fingers incredibly dexterous a little bit of durability here in case the rope goes over your hand just for long repels blaze things like that mountain equipment does something that I’ve never seen another company do they take a lot of time and attention building their stuff instead of having a tie safe mountain equipment in one piece. They actually a separate mountain and equipment on the left and right gloves i just thought that was kind of interesting wind stopper across the back. And the apri there with a really nice new-school hook and loop velcro cuff. They’re incredibly tight-fitting they’ll be dexterous these would be great for ice climbing anything alpine use maybe even cold touring days if you have any questions please feel free to call. Well when i was young i got into climbing when i was a teenager i was. Reading magazines and i saw images of. Rock towers when i realized that there. Were these spires out in these. Remote places i had this super strong. Feeling that was kind of my destiny in life. The Annette ii desert in chad is a. Pretty obscure place i just thought okay. Chat somewhere in africa i didn’t. Realize i was coming to such a hellhole yes and whipping into you all the time it is kind of (unpleasant) than just this. Godforsaken land. To come to an area where when nobody wanna let that confinement for was kind. Of amazing you know. I don’t think james and alex knew what. They were getting into and realistically. I didn’t know what i was getting into. Someone said that we have covered 400 of. The 800 kilometers so far for in the. Second vehicle so we’re just eating dust. So when you sign up for a trip with mark you know that it’s going to involve some kind of crazy location some kind of. Crazy scene there’s gonna be a lot of uncertainty where like you don’t really know if you’re gonna get there today we’re gonna keep driving across the desert it’ll be gonna be bumpy. I never expected in a million years that. The way that he would get to the Annette ii was just by randomly driving across. The desert for days on end. Any words. Just the stories that he comes out with has this reputation you know being able to go to valley inaccessible places and. Always have a bit of an adventure bit. War on us, and we’re starting to think you know god i really hope this is worth it you know and you’re also starting to wonder how is there going to be anything. Out here. Then you turn a corner and you look off. In the horizon and you’re like okay there it is there’s the promised land. Goal all along has been too hopefully. Find towers like this that people haven’t climbed before and be the one who pioneers the first ascent but for. Whatever reason i absolutely love climbing these things so which tie would. You want to climb today timmy. Leaveme little it’s still the most perfect. Alex and james are 24 25 years old and. I’m 40 so there’s a pretty big difference there you know the way that. It manifests itself is in the. Risk-taking and the amount of risk that. People are willing to accept if i. Thought i was going to take fairly big fall on to a legend really the danger situation. Percent is at our first route a trip the. First rock climbing the entity so while. I’m sitting there belaying james I’m like looking over like whoa there goes honnold he climbed five towers so low. You have honnold on the one hand is. Hands-down the boldest person that I’ve ever met then you have james who is this. Master trad climber well i don’t think he’s as bold and willing to take risks. As Arnold but he’s still like way. Beyond myself both of them much bolder. Than i was when i was their age. What happens once you have a family is. That you start thinking more and more about the impact that it would have if. Something happened to you the climber. And me and the adventurer that wants to go off and do all these crazy trips and. They are always going to be risky it’s. Pretty hard to find the balance but I’m. Trying that’s kind of like my struggle it’s what I’m working on right now in my life it’s exciting to finally be inside. The promised land now it’s got a lot of potential it seems like the rocks pretty good the market i come from very different like backgrounds and climbing i think the same way i just don’t love towers quite as much as he do you know but whatever that’s just personal preference i definitely have come to climbing more from like an athletic-type background to me it’s more about like physical achievement hmm you know i like doing. These little adventures from time to time but i definitely don’t fantasize about it the way mark do i think i. Would call mark like a modern explorer he’s coming to africa bringing one bugs it’s a biography of marco polo like i think that’s so telling it climbing with. Mark has been really good for me. He has like a bit of a reputation of being able to go to these fairly unknown places which usually turn out to be a. Little shitty but still have an amazing time and come back with naan climbing stories and adventures that are worth more than any climbing ever could be. I think when you young find yourself in. Situations that are just idiotic and out. Of control this sometimes i still get a. But carried away which is great when you have people who like mark who can kind of rein me back in a little bit his career has been super long so obviously is doing something like still be successful in the game these are all things that i would really like to emulate. The other person that’s a big part of. This adventure is piero is our guide our. Outfitter i can’t imagine what inspired. About combining the two the way that piero has i think that there was one. Single feature which really stood out to everybody on the team formation which is. Basically a tower and an arch the most. Unbelievable and unlikely piece of rock. That you could imagine unfortunately it. Happens to be located super deep in the. Annette ii about as far into it as you can get wasn’t really clear whether we. Would be able to make it that far there. Are some problems with the drive some difficult terrain that we would have to get through. Finally, we made it down here and it’s. Safe to say it was a very good decision because things amazing. Fail so what if we gain up both this. This morning james is gonna get it done i think it’s gonna be pretty scary. Getting up high like several hundred. Feet above the desert floor and then taking in the 360-degree panorama you. Feel the intensity of where you are kind. Of just wash over you. Would really be psyched to explore some. More around here i mean there’re towers everywhere we look basically an unlimited bonanza I’m already looking. Forward to my next trip it’s gonna. Happen someday maybe I’ll come here with my family i hope this has been a good. Learning to experience for me i mean i feel like it has in a minute I’m. Surprised about how much we have like the rock is much better than it could have been what I’ve learned from the. Trips that I’ve been on so far is just. That the world is super fast and there’s. There’s essentially like an unlimited supply of this stuff. The places that you see but even more. Important the people that you meet and cultural experiences that you have. Difficult add vapor k sciama desert o mo. Come upon dodo mandy wound up in east. Apache a mila montana. You. You.

You aren’t quite satisfied with ski tours until you skin all the way to the summit, mainly because you’re so darn curious to see beyond the next switchback. Sometimes you’re skinning much later than you planned, and although your fingers are okay in light liners, winter’s chill always takes its toll. Lucky for you, the Swany Men’s Gore Explorer Glove’s roomy fit slides over light liners with ease, just in case your fingers get a little numb after one too many kick turns. This rugged leather glove has a waterproof Gore-Tex insert and midweight insulation to ensure reliable protection when miles of powdery goodness stand between you and the nearest warm cabin.
Not all powder days are equal. Some are dry and fluffy and some are wet and heavy, but whether you’re ripping the resort or heading into the backcountry, you’ll have all the weather protection you need with the Salomon QST Guard 3L Hooded Jacket. It’s made with a highly durable, dependably waterproof, and ultra-breathable three-layer fabric for performance up and down the mountain. You’ll be able to shut out the wind and snow on any slope with the helmet-compatible, multi-adjustable hood keeping your head dry and protected at the same time. When the white stuff starts to mount and you’re getting blasted up to the chest, the fixed powder skirt keeps you safe from slashing snow, while the thumb-loop cuff gaiters ensure that snow and cold winds won’t creep up your arms. Inner and outer pockets give you all the storage you need for trail maps and lift snacks, and you’ve even got an integrated goggle-wipe pocket to keep your vision clear when snow is falling from bell-to-bell.
