There that acts of the shock absorber if you come down on to a hard surface. The proprietary rubber on the bottom is a sticky rubber compound developed by red chilly it retains an edge really well and it’s quite sticky and last but. Not least you’ll notice that we have two pull tabs in the rear so you can really crank the shoe on with these so in my. Experience with this shoe some of the things that have you noticed about it that are really cool are one that it has on the inside of the. Very neutral shoe so it’s relatively flat across the bottom it’s great for. All-day comfort it doesn’t have a really high profile toe box which allows your. Totally a little flatter in it making it great for beginners or people seeking that nice all-day multi-pitch chute one. Think i wouldn’t recommend it for is extremely steep or overhanging climbing. Thanks for joining us today my name is barry and this has been the red chilly spirit climbing shoe presented by unique outfitters.

Hey guys my name is mark busby I’m the climbing category manager for scarpa north america and I’m here to talk about our collection and focus on some of the new shoes that are in here to begin with trying to give a quick overview we’ve got the all-day performance part of the line which includes the origins the helix is the forces and the maestro’s and these shoes are all categorized by having a quite a flat kind of heel to toe profile and not being too asymmetric in their footprints. Sitting above those we’ve got the performance particle line which is made up of two families we’ve got the vapor family with the vapor viii s and the vapor laces we’ve got the instinct family with the iconic instinct vs and the instinct vs are this kind of. Part of the line has got a bit more curve in the heel stoke profile and a little bit more asymmetry in the footprint in the top part of line fuel. They specialize in performance parts of line we’ve got a bit more downtown. Introduced into the heel to toe profile and a bit a more degree more asymmetry in the inner footprints and this part of. The line starts with very malleable soft. Sand sensitive shoes on this side with a new furry rest the drago and the chimera, and then we run through into more supportive kind of die made shoes like the boo stick and like the mego so. Within the scrapper line we’ve got 22 different lasts we’ve got multiple different kind of uppers we’ve got different degrees of tension in that in the active rending so no matter what you are doing whether you’re new to the sport or whether you’re a world cup competitor there’s definitely something in the scarpa line for you.

Misty mountain has been building high-quality harnesses in the usa for 30 years and the Cadillac is one of the most popular harnesses for its comfort and durability the wide by layer waist. Belt spreads out the forces on your body removing pinch points and giving you all day comfort and the dual 1-inch aluminum. Quick adjust buckles allows you to keep the waist belt centered comfortably.
Hello and welcome to another rock climbing light video i am your host gifs akron and today i get the pleasure of. Reviewing the misty mountain turbo harness this was sent to me my misti a couple months ago and I’ve been enjoying it a lot for the past month got to tell. You guys I’m really psyched about this harness not only is misty a great company they’re based out of western north carolina all their stuff is hand-stitched right here in the usa but it’s a great harness as well it’s not just the fact that they’re a great company make great products so this is. The turbo harness when i think of misty. I think of three words really stick out in my head they’re comfortable they’re. Over built and they’re safe misty is. Known to have one of the most comfortable harness lines on the market there Cadillac harness is probably most. Popular most people you see out the crag who have a misty harness on probably i. Mean in my experience I’d say eight times out of ten they’re going to have a Cadillac on, so they’re very Cadillac are very popular that’s their big thick trad harness it has six gear loops it’s. Just a big monster multi-pitch harness. But i see it here at the new I’m here at the new river gorge at the junkyard crag and i see them you know people using them for cracking all the time so that doesn’t mean that you can’t use the Cadillac for fragment but this might be a better option for you if you mostly do single pitch cracking and then sometimes do multi pitch this i think would be a great option and I’m really excited about again this is the turbo harness so I’m going to go through all the features of this harness but first. The so this has fixed leg loops this is. The turbo and the one with the adjustable leg loops is the sonic and. The female version of the sonic is the. Silhouette so the silhouette is female with adjustable leg loops misty doesn’t currently have a name for the female version of the turbo but just ask for it. Ask them for a female version of turbo, and they change some of the specs they change the dimensions of the waist belt and the rise to fit females better. So just ask them misty’s a great company they also do split sizing where they can. Do different size like this is i believe. A large you check yes this is a large. Size so if you needed like a large waist. Belt and a medium leg loop they can mix. And match sizes for you of waist and leg. Loops so just so you know so don’t think. When you go on their website oh you know. This leg size doesn’t fit my legs but this waist size fit they do what’s called split sizing, and they can mix and match those sizes because these are handmade one at a time so let’s go. Through the major points of this harness this has a quick adjust waist belt so. You don’t need to double this one back so you just pull it and it stays secure. It’s very safe like i said safe and durable and over built and what. I like you know no detail is overlooked. With this misty harness and I’m sure the same goes for all their harnesses I’m sure the line is all the same so you’ll notice the end of this waste this. Waist belt is stitched into a point and you know little details like that i really enjoy because that makes it. Easier to thread through these sleeves to keep the waist belt back so there’s a sleeve right on the side right next to. The buckle when you tighten it in so. You can slide that through there easily and then the misty patch also doubles as. Another large sleeve to keep it even further out of the way so you just slide that in there. It’s out of the way. What else so all the time points are. Heavily reinforced you can see lots of. Bar tack and stitching here but what also is nice about the time points is they cover it in a slippery material. It’s kind of it’s a nylon that is different from the rest of the nylon. It’s very slippery, so they’ll add durability because the reduce friction of the rope running through so your tie. In points won’t get blown out as easily the belay loop they’re known to have one of the largest belay loops in the business this thing is no exception the turbo harness this is a 6,000 pound belay loop so super beefy and durable. And over built very safe so that’s you. Know your belay loop in the front turning towards the sides there’s four. Gear loops to an aside but again being. Misty who they are if you want to add tool carriers like if you’re an ice climber if you want to add tool holsters. Or extra I’m sure maybe not gear luke. But it was a belay loop we doing extra belay loop things like that they can work with you so call them up great company anyway moving to the side for. Big gear loops these things i have a couple other harnesses just I’ve gone through over the years and these things are large let me tell you no problem putting a ton of cams and nuts and quick draws and slings and things for trad climbing so these are very large on the back what you’ll find is. Somewhat rare but is very nice to have. Is a full strength haul loop on a. Cracking harness so this is a very lightweight it definitely competes with all the lightweight all day multi-purpose harnesses out there and not on have full strength haul loop so that’s a very nice feature also on. The back is the rise they have a feature called detachable rise this is pretty common so you know nature calls and you. Don’t want to take the harness off if you’re in a multi pitch situation they have the detachable rise there with the buckle. The inside of the waist belt and the leg. Loops it’s like this soft black neoprene. Material but it’s very breathable so neoprene isn’t breathable so but it. Feels like me brain has like kind of soft spongy feel but it’s very. Breathable i mean its kind of warm out today is low 80s high 70s and i don’t i. Don’t feel hindered or sweaty or you know wet with this harness at all it definitely breezes for you know an all-day harness it’s you know it’s not like a mesh style harness you know you. Can’t see through it so it definitely has a little bit of thickness but that makes it extra comfortable at the same time it breathes. Like i said it has fixed leg loops. Again reinforced high end point extra. Stitching to make it all very durable leg loops are very comfortable I’ve been. Very impressed a lot of times leg loops there they it kind of seems like. Companies they just don’t do research, or they don’t test it or something but these leg loops have been surprised it really comfortable so I’ve just been. Overall really happy with the turbo. Harness again give misty a call if. You’re looking for new harness they can work with you on sizing they can work with you on options this one comes in. Red but hey i bet you we call them they might even be able to offer a different color who knows so what else overall. This is just a really great harness i got a site and with that there’s been another rock climber light video be sure to check out the blog rock climber life com for more thanks for watching. You.
From crimpy overhanges to techy slabs, the Women’s Lynx Climbing Shoe is Boreal’s all-arounder for the versatile vertical sender. An asymmetric, slight downturn gives this shoe an edge on challenging, technical section, while the padded tongue ensures comfort in cracks. Boreal’s V2 rand works with the special anti-deformation midsole to keep this shoe’s shape solid for seasons, and the Zenith rubber sole gives a good grip on smooth limestone or rough, slabby sandstone. Expect some stretch out of the unlined split leather upper.

Hey there and welcome back to peace. Couch now as many of you aware I’m about to embark on the marathon disorder which. Is something I’ve been concentrating really heavily on for the last year or. More as well as doing lots of training. I’ve been doing so much research on the. Amount of kit going to take and I’ve been testing a lot of stuff so over the. Next couple of weeks before i depart i thought I’d share some of those learnings with you and where better. Place to start than the backpack I’m going to take which i have decided on. The ultimate direction fast pack 20 now. This is super heavy at the moment because it’s its fully weighted so I’ve been training with but i just can empty it out and show you why i like it so much so here it is and it’s naked form. And this is what i like most about it is that it’s so minimal it’s basically an expanded running desk it weighs next to nothing and this is kind of one of the big deciding factors for me because obviously I’m trying to cut down as much weight as possible 510. Grams okay now a great thing to compare. This to is the official war bag which a. Lot of people will be using mdf and in. Contrast it’s got all kinds of stuff hanging off it and most importantly the. Weight of it 900 grams that’s a pretty. Huge difference so this is nearly half the weight of the wire back which is an incredible savings but I’ve also decided. To make an even bigger saving on it there’s not much you can cut off it like the like a wild bag you can get the diseases to that and kind of trim off some weight but here it’s so minimal anyway but certainly the most notable. Savings you can make is in the back there’s a bit of padding that you can remove, and they say that this can be. Used to sit on or even to you know used. To cushion your hips when you’re lying down i found it pretty useless. I’ve actually having removed this form. The back I’ve actually found the pack more come — boo and with it out so condition this. That brings the weight of the pack down to give time a gram so i say 10 grams. Right there so although this fast pack is nearly half the weight of the wire bag actually fits way more in it and it’s down as a 20 litres bag but i think. You could probably push that out quite a lot partly because of the nature of this main compartment and how it seals its kind of like a dry bag has a velcro fastening that then rolls and then clips. In at the sides now i probably got about. 20 litres in there now but you can. Basically just not roll it down as much and sitting maybe another five litres. Into that main compartment it’s not only that you’ve also got this fat mesh here. Which you can fit loads in that really stretches out and it’s a firm mesh as well so it’s going to hold things firmly in place i don’t tend to put a massive amount in there because i like to keep my weight closer to my back but it’s actually really good for holding waterproof or extra base layers that you. Might be using during the day stuff that down there and it holds it in their lovely and secure on top of those two main compartments we’ve got these mesh pockets on the side which also hold a lot of stuff very stretchy and pretty. Secure I’ll generally use those side pockets for stuffing food and stuffing rubbish because even though I’ve got terrible flexibility i can reach into those pockets quite nicely so coming onto the front, and we’ve got two really great water pouches here it really surprises me how many ultra bags don’t. Seem to have big enough pouches built in. For hard water bottles and maybe because they want to offer flexibility so that people can attach themselves but as you think this is a great weight saving thing to be able to build them into the bag that ultimates are it shouldn’t have done so as you can see — water pool. Tools fit there really nicely there’s also the option on this right-hand one if you don’t want to. Carry two water bottles this zips back up again and there’s actually a really nice secure pocket that you could maybe put bars you could put all kinds of stuff down in there it’s actually a really brilliant phone holder you can put your phone down into their sip it back up and that’s super secure. But i actually find that’s one of the major downsides of its bad for me is that I’m going to be running around with two bottles most of the time and there’s nowhere for me to put my phone now I’m not expecting to be on the phone the whole time but it’d be really good to have access to music and stuff like that if i do want to listen to music currently there’s nowhere else. On the front of the bag for me to put it. There’s this outside stretchy pocket just outside where the water bottle is but actually getting your phone into it. It’s pretty much a no-go really the best. Place for you to put your phone is there’s a smaller zip pocket on the side of the bag then it can go in nice and. Securely there’s also one of these clip leaves to put your keys onto you know I’ve ever used one of these so the annoying thing about it is that it’s going to be too far away for you to reach when you’ve got your bag on so coming back to the front you’ve also got two smaller pouches below the water bottles so if i just take these out so you can get a better look so on the left. Hand side we’ve got a zip and on the. Right-hand side we’ve got a velcro strap these are actually bigger than they look quite often i use them to dump keys and just have stuff that i want readily available, but they’re actually stretch out so hold a couple of bars maybe or you know something slightly more sizable approach they just not that phone but you can see i can fit two full clif bars. Into each one of these pockets obviously. One of the most important things about the bag is how comfortable it is and i get on really well with this and i think. That could partly be because of the nature of these shoulder straps it’s actually one bit of fabric runs straight. From the base of the bag over the. Shoulders and down the front you can see it completely wraps around which makes it really comfortable all the way around and especially now I’ve taking. That back bit of padding out it just molds into your body really nicely so one thing that it’s most commonly criticized for is that it has two chest straps but no waist strap and a lot of people will say that that creates a bit too much side-to-side bouncing when they’re running i can definitely see that point but i don’t really experience it too badly myself and i think that’s partly because i found a configuration that really works for me on the front here i tend to pack. A lot of the weight in the bag place for my body to avoid bouncing if i do experience any bouncing i tend to try and adjust my running to be a little normal glider which i guess i see is a win-win situation i kind of want to be a little bit more glide ii so the chest straps themselves are actually really nicely adjustable they’re set into these sliders here which you can move them up and down so i found best. For security for me is to have one right. At the top and then slide the bottom one right down to the bottom and that kind. Of clips me in nicely either side of the rib cage by far my biggest issue with this bag is full of my decision to take polls to the mds oh now handily enough. There’s actually some really nice. Elastic straps on the back that hold them nicely in place you can put them down here there’s a clippable elastic. Bungee that you can wrap them around and have them nice and secure on the back of. The pack like that but i know having. Poles on the back of the bag i will never use them so really i need to have. Then on the front straps but unfortunately on the front straps there’s nothing there that’s made to hold the poles so I’ve had to try and budge something to make it work for me now unfortunately i haven’t made life easy for my selves and I’ve got poles that fold into four sections which means. That both the handle and the pointer at the bottom which means that when it’s. Going down this way there’s nothing really to hold on to the top of the pole so my first idea was to put a hook at. That i tied on to one of these things here and i took this string on the top. And then i tied it to the side that worked it was actually quite comfortable. But it was just so fiddly I’m hooking this and hooking it back on again i probably was never going to use my poles because it was too fiddly so then. I tried other things i tried to pass them on to the front which is a terrible idea don’t try that it was awful and i also tried to fasten it down here somewhere which again didn’t work so my final winning solution simply uses two pieces of elastic one of which just ties. Straight around the strap and around the water bottle here and one which fixes on. To the bottom buckle over here and that one has a sliding clip on it so all we. Do is we take the end of the poles and put it through the bottom bit of elastic we tie that site then put the end over the spike which. Then holds that in position and stops it falling down then the top you just feed. Through that top bit of elastic which. Holds it nice and securely in place so that’s nicely out the way and more. Importantly it’s a really light solution and i know it’s going to be simple enough for me to deploy and actually use the poles when i need to use them so that is the ultimate direction fast pack 20 is a massive winner for me really recommend it if you are doing a multi-day ultra or if you just do a lot of running weekend so check it out.

The lightweight EVA midsole also has some rubber in it to increase shock absorption and overall durability required for rocky, technical terrain. The Stealth S1 sole uses a similar rubber compound as Five Ten’s climbing shoes, and you can rely on its traction when you come across slabby sections on the approach.
