If you’ve ever expressed disappointment in your triathlon race apparel, we understand why. When you think about it, creating one piece to function throughout three disciplines is quite the endeavor. And while we applaud the industry’s ambition to do so, we’re generally disappointed with the execution. However, with TYR’s new Competitor Women’s Front Zipper Tri Suit, it placed a specialized focus on creating one suit that performs perfectly across the board. More impressively, though, success in each stage isn’t hinged on compromise. Instead, the Competitor functions like three individual pieces in one anatomic design.
For the bulk of the Competitor Tri Suit’s construction, TYR used a blend of nylon and spandex. In turn, the Competitor’s constitution provides a supportive, yet non-constrictive, structure, while remaining soft-to-the-touch. Additionally, with the elasticity of the added spandex content, the resulting material is granted a four-way stretch. So, your freedom of movement is guaranteed, regardless of the discipline at hand. You’ll also find that, when combined, this material is quite efficient at managing moisture. So, whether it be water or perspiration, moisture moved away from the skin and transported to the quick-drying surface of the fabric. As a result, you remain dry and comfortable over the two land legs of your competition.
In terms of fit, TYR designed the Competitor Tri Suit for competitors, meaning that it’s ready for endurance racing. It features a comfort beaded silicone leg hem, knee length lowers, and inset armholes that allow a non-pinching locomotion of the arms during the run and swim. And as a result of these features, cumulatively, the suit experiences more surface area coverage, which results in an increase in both gentle compression and resistance to wetsuit chafing.
Furthering this level of comfort, TYR included its new Competitor AMP chamois. This insert features a minimalist construction as to provide enough support for the bike leg without inhibiting comfort in either the swim or run. And because of the swim, TYR also designed the Competitor to be water-resistant and quick-drying. So, you won’t be racing soggy after T1. In regards to your nutrition storage, TYR has also included a zippered rear pocket. And for an easy entry and exit of the suit, it also features a 11-inch locking front zipper.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and it’s a perfect day to get your tires a little dirty at your local trailhead, so grab the Ion Scrub AMP Short-Sleeve Jersey for the lightweight coverage you need on a pleasant day on the dirt. It offers a front panel of DriRelease polyester-cotton blend that wears and looks like your favorite cotton tee, with the added benefit of breathability and quick-drying properties to keep you feeling fresh. The sleeves and back are made of a mesh polyester jersey that wicks away sweat and breathes so you can focus on the rock garden ahead or you, instead of the clammy sweat on your back. The jersey is cut relaxed and long, so you don’t end up with crack-back when you’re mashing on your pedals out of the saddle, and don’t feel restricted when weaving your way through tight switchbacks.
The Zoic Navaeh Camo Shorts might seem like illusive creatures that like to hide in the woodlands, but don’t be fooled by their camouflaged demeanor, these bold britches are sure to stand up to rowdy trail rides with your crew. They pack a serious pinch with a stretchy, moisture-wicking construction for lightweight coverage, and an 11-inch inseam that falls perfectly at your knee for packing on pads. A women’s-specific cut makes these perfect for getting behind the saddle, plus the Fusion Gusset inseam increases your range of motion while preventing saddle hang-ups.
Arguably, the most important feature of the Navaeh Camo Shorts is its Women’s Essential Liner and Comfort chamois that cushions impacts and reduces vibrations in the saddle. While you may not even really feel these vibrations, your muscles do, and all that shock and vibration causes fatigue. The liner is also fully removable, so you can even wear the liner with other shorts to transform them from casual shorts to riding shorts.
Terry Bicycles has long been known for producing high-quality cycling shorts with current styling. The Women’s Bella Prima Bib Shorts are Terry’s first foray into the bib short realm, bringing the brand’s signature comfort and style to those of us who prefer bibs over traditional waistbands. Featuring a mix of nylon and spandex, these shorts stretch to move with you through the pedal stroke and provide a hint of supportive compression. A mesh halter-style bib comfortably holds the shorts in place while letting you keep your jersey on during mid-ride pit stops.
Equipped with Terry’s Flex Air chamois, the Bella Prima Bib Shorts boast seamless padding with a four-way stretch and multi-density foam, ensuring a smooth, chafe-free feel. A lightweight, microfiber cover promotes ventilation while simultaneously reducing the insert’s thickness profile at the inner thigh to combat chafing and irritation.
Yellowing aspens, orange oak trees, and leaves crunching under rolling tires are nature’s way of reminding us that bib tights and thermal fabric weather is just around the corner. Instead of lamenting this change, embrace the frost-dappled scenery and train through the chill in Castelli’s Women’s Chic Bib Tights.
Castelli constructs these bib tights from soft, warm, and stretchy Thermoflex fabric, which takes a starring role across Castelli’s cold-weather line. Thermoflex’s brushed, fleecy lining fends off the cold with cozy warmth and wicks moisture without irritating your skin. At the knees, Castelli uses and articulated shape and adds another layer of fabric for extra warmth and freedom of movement.
The bib straps are made from light, breathable fabric, and the KISS Air chamois affords enough comfort for all your long-mile, winter training needs. The fit is snug and streamlined, making them ideal for both training and racing in cooler conditions, with minimal branding to avoid appearing overtly sponsor incorrect.
Castelli recommends these bib tights for use between 41 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit, but you may find them useful in a wider range of temperatures depending on the day’s planned intensity.
Dial in your layering on brisk spring mornings with the Castelli Pro Light Wind Vest for Women. With lightweight construction, this minimalist vest takes the bite out of sharp breezes without going overboard, cutting through wind with a printed woven front, while the ultra-breathable mesh back pulls away sweat, and keeps you from overheating as the day warms up.
Ideally, the majority of your hours on the bike should be spent in balmy temperatures, so Castelli’s designers made sure that the Pro Light Wind Vest is incredibly easy to stash in your back pocket as soon as the chilly descent gets kissed with warm sun. It weighs in at only 66-grams, which we estimate to be about the same as a nutrition bar, and takes up about the same amount of space, making it an easy to justify layer when you’re departing in the dim hours of the morning.

Mavic scores points in both warmth and style with the Women’s Sequence Thermal Jacket, providing a warm winter cycling jacket that is windproof, water-resistant, and ideal for getting out and putting in the miles over the winter months.
Key features to look for in a jacket if you plan on staying comfortable and motivated when the temps drop are great insulation and protection from the elements. The Sequence Thermal provides superior warmth, wind protection, and breathability thanks to a high-stretch three-layer fabric. A DWR treatment protects the jacket from spray and repels water rather than soaking through, dampening your base layer and spirits.
Materials are only one part of the equation and equally important is fit. New bonded sleeve cuff construction fits snugly to your wrist improving glove overlap keeping the wet and cold out and your body heat in. If the tempo reaches race pace or the temps warm up, the stay down zipper lets you dump heat efficiently. The pro-fit helps you slice through the wind by reducing bulk and feels great while on the bike. An ergonomic collar with fur lining and snap closure provides extra protection from the cold without irritating your neck.
Ensuring that you’ll get noticed in low light is the highly reflective all-over print that becomes visible when illuminated by headlights. Three back pockets and an additional 1 zip pocket provides ample cargo room for carrying extra gear and food while enjoying the base miles.
When summer finally hits you, and you’re graced with those long-dawn-to-dusk rides that you’ve been craving since January, don the Pearl Izumi Pro Jersey and take to the tarmac. This premium jersey is built for long days, when your mileage soars up towards the triple-digits. That’s because Pearl crafts it with its PRO Transfer In-R-Cool fabrics that wick moisture and evaporates quickly, keeping you cooler and drier. The material also comes with a 50+ UPF rating so you can rest assured that your covered skin is safer from the sun’s harmful rays. Additionally, Direct-Vent mesh side panels ventilate and help facilitate more airflow, preventing you from overheating on the climbs during those summer intervals. And if you’re still too warm, a full-length, semi-auto lock zipper can be flipped up and pulled open with one hand for easy venting. Longer, articulated sleeves create a more modern silhouette on the bike and help reduce turbulence and drag for a touch more aerodynamics. Finally, on the rear, five ample pockets, plus a zippered security pocket, help you carry all of your riding essentials.
Summer is finally here and it’s time to break out your favorite sunnies and a Louis Garneau Beeze 2 Sleeveless Jersey to head out and enjoy some miles of smiles under the sun. Made from lightweight fabrics with a soft, almost cotton-like touch, this jersey cuts a streamlined profile to keep you cool and comfortable no matter if the day’s ride is a coffee-shop hop through the city or a hilly century in a scenic coastal destination.
Adding a bib may seem like a roadie thing, but the Gore Wear C5 Trail Liner Bib Shorts+ are designed with the trail in mind. From the Gore Windstopper Cup front panel that protects you from wind on high-speed descents to the synthetic fabric that conforms to your body, the C5 makes your ride better instead of distracting from it. An Advanced MTB chamois provides women-specific cushion between you and your seat, and the mesh bib wicks away perspiration while providing space for air to flow between you and your jersey. These shorts slide easily under your baggies, but look fine on their own and are durable to resist the abrasive nature of the trail.
Designed to dominate all disciplines, the Castelli Free Tri Singlet for Women boasts a lion’s share of tech fabrics to take you seamlessly from water to air as you charge through through transitions without need for a wardrobe change. It combines lightweight and breathable stretch fabrics together to mold to your body and minimize drag while you dive into the water, and quick-drying technology to keep you from feeling soggy as you embark on the bike leg.
The Free Tri Singlet features a half-length zipper with an oversized tab in order to ease entry and exit and to allow on-the-fly heat dumps. Castelli also incorporated two rear Free Aero 2 pockets which are large enough to carry your race-day nutrition but feature side-oriented openings to maintain a low profile for aero- and hydro-dynamic benefits. The singlet is finished with Castelli’s Snap Hooks, which attach it to compatible shorts for a seamless, triathlon fit.
Though Pearl Izumi calls it a jersey, the Select Escape Women’s Thermal Jersey feels an awful lot like a jacket. It’s got a slightly more forgiving fit that lets it layer for conditions well below Pearl’s recommended range of 45-55 degrees Fahrenheit, and its rear pockets seal with a zipper—a rarity for jerseys. Despite those jacket-esque details, the Select Thermal material is lightly insulated and breathable, so as the temperatures climb with the sun, you won’t end your early spring rides wallowing in clammy moisture.
The Moda Arts Short-Sleeve Jersey from Giordana allows you to express your artistic side on the ride while still providing the fine craftsmanship and technical materials you’ve come to expect from the brand. Utilizing bright, vibrant colors and interesting patterns, the jersey looks great on and off the bike so you’ll feel fantastic on the weekend century ride as well as the mid-ride coffee shop stop. Its advanced fabrics help promote moisture transfer, keeping you cooler and drier.
This Arts Jersey features a slightly relaxed fit, giving you ample space in the saddle, and a full-length CamLock Zipper letting you adjust the airflow on long, stifling climbs. The rear of the jersey gets three ample sized pockets for hauling ride essentials and a reflective tab helps increase your visibility to motorists. It, like all of Giordana’s Women apparel, is cut using its Women’s Contour Fit system, modeling the paneling and construction to better fit the female form while in the riding position.
Sometimes summer’s heat is almost too unbearable for you to get your cycling session in, but only almost. Instead of abandoning your training regime during the hotter times of the season, abandon the sleeves and keep pedaling in the Etxeondo Women’s Entzuna Sleeveless Jersey. It might not seem like much of a change to ditch the sleeves, but you’ll take whatever cooler feeling you can get when it’s incredibly hot out.
Knowing a thing or two about hot, humid weather, Basque-born Etxeondo made the Entzuna out of Microsystem fabric for excelled moisture management and quick-drying comfort, and its high elasticity content ensures a solid fit. Three rear pockets style this jersey with the features required for long rides.
Now that summer’s arrived at last, dive back into commuting in the Shimano Transit Path Short. With clean style and a sleek design, the Transit Path doesn’t immediately look like a bike short, but its stretchy, breathable fabric says otherwise once you’re navigating busy intersections in the saddle. A DWR finish will help you stay dry when you’re pedaling into work on still-wet roads after an overnight rainstorm, and features like reflective accents and ample pockets add to the short’s bike-lane functionality. The adaptable fit leaves plenty of room for the chamois/liner combo of your choice as well, so you’re always comfortable whether you’re heading into the office or to your favorite cafe for a weekend cold brew and baked treat.
Designed to wear over its T.RALLYSHORTS_S7 LADY, H RALLYINNERSHORTS S7 WOMAN, or XC bib shorts woman comes the H LaalalaiCargoShorts S7 from Assos. Engineered with an optimized fit, these shorts feature classic Assos styling and are dialed to keep you comfortable on singletrack trails. Just like its road clothing that “click-on” once you’re in the saddle, these shorts provide the same sensation but are situated for mountain biking and singletrack. Perhaps our highest compliment that we can pay these shorts is that it fits like a semi-baggy rather than a full-on baggy so no extra material is present to chafe legs, catch saddles, or snag trail debris. It’s a baggy for sure, and if you’re looking for just a bit more protection and coverage without looking like an extreme freerider, this is where it’s at.
The front panel is designed based on the paneling in Assos’ S7 road shorts. Though it’s not as form-fitting, it does closely follow your body in order to reduce catching the saddle’s nose or place a bunch of unnecessary material between you, the saddle, and—ultimately—the trail. The material is the same as what’s used in the snug fitting T.rallyShort, too, so it stretches to reduce restriction while pedaling up a climb or throwing the bike around in chunky terrain.
The shorts are equipped with mesh in order to manage internal moisture, but that additional material doesn’t add bulk, so they still pair perfectly with the H RALLYINNERSHORTS S7 WOMAN. Excluding that mesh and the front panel, the shorts are made entirely from Type.498 fabric, a material that repels water, dries quickly, and is built for longevity in the face of daily trail abuse. The fit can be dialed-in through the inclusion of waist and leg zippers, and Assos itself describes that fit as “casual.” We suggest that’s a bit of a miss-categorization, though, as the S7 DNA evident throughout the fit and design means that they’re anything but casual.
