Made of alloy steel and fiberglass and. It is designed to move and flex with you as you hike there is a horizontal stay. To provide additional stability under the weight of a heavy load there’s also a frame sheet for additional lightweight rigidity the shoulder straps adjust up and down the frame and the pack comes in. Ready for a weekend of backpacking or extended trips if you’re packing light. The Gregory jade 53 litre women’s pack. Is perfectly balanced between light. Weight features and all of those other. Features that you’re looking for organization and a pack that’s going to. Carry a heavy load comfortably now. Unlike extended trip packs where they’ve. Got heavy features this has really. Stripped-down features lightweight materials those materials are also very durable and strong and the suspension. System here really gives you the ability. To carry the load so I’m going to turn the pack around and talk about the suspension system I’ve got Gregory’s cross flow dts suspension system and. Again it’s pretty lightweight it gives. You a lot of ventilation with this. Tension back panel you can see all of that mesh there and i can put my hand. Behind it so you know that you’ve got all the ventilation that you need behind the scenes there you can see a cross pattern for the frame that is a. Lightweight spring frame and what i like. About that is it gives the rigidity that you need in the pack to give stability and to transfer the weight of the load to your hips but it will move with you. Because it’s the cross pattern it will flex a little bit as you move so this pack doesn’t feel boxy it feels like as you move going up and down hill it’s. Going to move with you and then you as well. Have behind the scenes a hdpe frame sheet that gives rigidity to but it’s. Nice and lightweight now you have a va. Foam where you need it there on the lumbar pad it’s a really comfortable lumbar pad and then behind the shoulder. Straps you have die cut foam that foam. Keeps you comfortable and unlike lightweight or ultra light. Weight backpacks this foam gives you plenty of cushioning so really. Comfortable cushioning on the shoulders and a lot of cushioning on the hip belt and the hip belt does have a little bit of rigidity to it too so it definitely carries the load well now. Obviously you’ve got your load lifter straps up here that give you some adjust ability this comes in three different sizes so you can’t actually adjust the harness up and down but you. Can use the those load lifters to dial in the fit and just choose the. Particular size that’s right for your. Torso in addition to the adjust ability. There you do have an adjustable sternum straps you can move that up and down. While I’m on the back of the pack you do have a hydration sleeve inside the pack. You can route the hydration hose out through the middle here and you even. Have a little catch here for the hose on. This side now the hydration system itself isn’t included, but they do give. You this smaller pack this can be hung. Inside of the backpack as the sleeve for. Your hydration system but you can as well. Take it out and use it as a summit pack you’ve got really lightweight and stretchy straps here so those are comfortable the material here is nice. And lightweight so it doesn’t add a lot of weight to the actual pack but you can use this as a day pack if you’re just. Summoning a peak you can use this to. Take some stuff with you or if you’re traveling and you’re just going out for the day that you can throw some essentials in this pack there’s daisy chain attachments on the front a small zippered pocket there on. That pack so it’s a really nice feature. That again doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack that adds a lot of value the. Pockets and organization are streamlined. And simple but it gives you all the. Organization you need on the front of the hip belt you have nice big pockets i. Can see these accommodating any size smartphone you can see this mesh pocket. Here stretches out really big you could put a small camera in there or something like that so really good size pockets. There and then on the lid you have the access into the. Back I’ve got a first aid kit in their so items you want to get your hands on quickly or lightweight items can be. Stored up there on the side of the pack. You have two very stretchy meshes pockets big enough to accommodate any size water. Bottle I’ve got a 32 ounce water bottle. In there and it fits well you’ve even got a compression strap on the front so you can compress that down and if you’re. Just going on an overnight or a short trip you’ve got compression straps all over this pack to make the load a little bit smaller you have a full-size lid here. And you can store lots of gear in there so then that gives you access into the. Body of the pack there’s even a small hidden pocket back here and that’s a. Great feature for travel you’ve got really easy access into the top of the pack with a nice big opening that’s. Really easy to use and i found that this. Pull handle is really nice as well so there’re little attentions to detail make. A big difference it’s all the access you need into that big pocket then you do. Have access in a couple more areas so. Something i really appreciate about this pack you have a nice big u-shaped zipper. Here where you can access all the gear. That you need that’s in the middle of your pack it’s tucked away back here so. It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack but as you can see i can open that. Up nice and wide almost like a piece of luggage and get to all the gear that’s in the middle of the pack so i can grab for whatever i need if you’re traveling. With this pack taking it overseas you can use it like that so really nice almost hidden pocket there. And then down on the bottom you have access into a sleeping bag compartment down there these zipper poles are so. Easy to use, and they make it nice and easy to get to the bottom now there is a. Divider in between the bottom and the. Middle of the pack but you can tuck that away if you need full access into the whole pack now also behind the scenes there is a. Hidden rain cover the rain cover is. Custom fit for the pack and it’s in its own designated pocket right here so rain cover matches the pack and it. Adds a lot of value so you don’t have to purchase a separate rain cover in the. Front a nice stretchy dump pocket too and then as you can see all over the. Front of this pack you’ve got two loops you’ve got straps here that you can. Attach a sleeping pad this is actually removable and you’ve got trekking pole bungees up here so there’s plenty of. Features here you can use this pack in a lot of different ways but all of those. Features don’t add a lot of weight to the pack, but they add a lot of organization and with all the features that you get here it’s a really great value it would work in a lot of. Different situations from a quick overnight to a weekend to traveling overseas it’s the Gregory jade 53 women’s. Backpack. You.
Hey everybody this is Jackie from the budget-minded travelers comm and i want to take a few minutes to show you today why i love my Gregory jade 50 backpacks so much and why i would recommend it for you as your go-to travel backpack but. First of all if you haven’t watched my how to choose the right travel backpack video i recommend that you watch that one so that you can understand what we’re getting into today I’m going to be talking about the three c’s comfort capacity and convenience alright allow. Me to introduce you to my go to travel backpack the Gregory jade 50 it’s a. Women’s size small for my torso and the. Number 50 is the pack capacity in litres why is this important three reasons. Number one the fact that it’s a size. Small is not only great for fitting my torso perfectly but it’s a bonus because. Check this out oh whoa thanks okay this. Backpack is about 20 to 21 inches that. Makes it small enough to carry on which is really important to me because i prefer to carry on whenever possible the. Second reason the 50 is perfect for me is that it’s small enough so that it discourages me from over packing yet. It’s still big enough to fit everything that i need and the third reason is that. It seems to be the perfect size for any length of trip that i take i can take it. For weeks or months it always seems to be the perfect size for me and now we’ll talk about comfort look closely at the. Frame of this backpack it’s actually shaped against the curve of my back. There’s lumbar support at the bottom and there’s shoulder support at the top and. The frame never actually touches my back. So when a backpack fits right all the. Weight should be right on your hips and this should be fastened just above your hip bone so once i get all the straps at. Just the right length I’m actually really comfortable and i actually hiked machu picchu with this backpack for three days straight and i didn’t have any problems with being sore i also packed like so keep that in mind all right on the convenience it’s. Important to look at the pockets straps zippers and extra flair that the backpack has so starting at the top. There’s one right across the top here which i like for two reasons on it. Makes a convenient spot to put things that I’ll need to access a lot like sunglasses passport wallet hotel keys. There’s even a strap on the inside here. For your keys so that they’ll keep them in a convenient spot and the second. Think i like about this specific zipper is that the zipper is actually tucked in pretty close to my body so that when I’m wearing it’s harder for a thief to. Get to and if you notice right here i. Actually keep a safety pin right there on that loop and that way i can safety. Pin the loop to the strap and it creates a lock on the zipper so i wouldn’t have to worry about people trying to get into it anyway alright moving on if you open. It up you’ll see that on the inside i. Don’t know if you could see this from there, but we’ll try there’s a pocket. Right against the back here i don’t know if you can see it but it fits documents. I always put my flight reservations and important things extra stash of money right there in that pocket because it’s almost hidden and the rest of it is just a big open space I’ve actually got a pillow stuffed in there right now to show you and then on the outside the. First thing that you’ll notice is this big bulky pouch and what i love about. This is that i actually use it to put my. Shoes in and you’ll see that I’ve got some shoes in it right here this is a. Very versatile pouch for anything that’s. Bulky shaped or maybe muddy i put muddy shoes muddy clothes in here all the time. So that’s a great spot for any kind of. Shoes and then on the outside of this there’s a long vertical pouch and this. Is actually pretty big this is where i keep my flip-flops because it seems to be the perfect size pocket for a flat pair of flip-flops and then on each side there are these. Adjustable pockets right here which you could also put shoes in or water bottles. There’s a velcro if you’re not going to use it and there’s also a strap right here that you could put around the top of a water bottle or the end of a shoe to hold it in there and that’s on both. Sides of this backpack there’s also on. The very bottom besides the mud there’re some straps here. You could put something long shaped in. This so like when i take this backpacking in the summer camping that’s. Where i put my sleeping pad because it’s a long awkward shape and it doesn’t even then have to go into my backpack it just goes right on the bottom and the last. Think and probably the most important is. This side pocket right here this piece. Of magic allows me to be able to reach. At the bottom of my backpack without having to take everything out through the top every time when i need something that’s packed deep and i almost forgot. Right here on the sides of the hip straps there’s two more little pockets that are perfect for chapstick they even fit a little point-and-shoot camera and anything that you need to keep convenient with you while you’re wearing your backpack those are great pockets for that and there’s one more see that i. Didn’t talk about with this backpack and that’s cost and that’s another reason why i love this backpack i actually went. To rei to get fitted for this backpack they had a blue one in the store and once i decided the best the backpack i really wanted i went to the rei outlet and i found this one which is even more perfect for me because my favorite color is red this backpack cost me a hundred. And four dollars on the rei outlet so i was able to save a lot of money that way. So there you have it a complete introduction and review of my favourite backpack the Gregory jade 50 i hope. You’ve enjoyed this video if you have please give it a thumbs up and come on over to check out my blog and podcast at the budget-minded travelers comm for. Even greater travel tips have a great day you.

This is the Gregory women’s j63 it’s a. 63 liter pack which is ideal for everything from weekend to multi-day trips and this 2014 j series has. Actually shed a little bit of weight from last year this one’s weighing in at just three pounds of two ounces some. Cool things to point out about the j 63 firstly is this large u-shaped access on. The front here this makes it really easy to get to it all of your gear second. Thing is up here we have an integrated rain cover full when the weather gets nasty you don’t have to worry about your gear getting wet back here we have a cross-flow of. Suspension what’s really cool about this. Is that once you start adding weight to your pack this trampoline back panel automatically stiffens giving you the right amount of support all the time. You. You.
This year you plan to tick off a whole slew of routes, far and wide, rock and ice, and you can rely on the Black Diamond Women’s Technician Harness to get you through each send. From granite multi-pitching to steep, icy alpine terrain, this harness flaunts five sturdy gear loops and four ice clipper slots to hold a rack of any size. The Technician’s lightweight and quick-drying waist belt keeps you comfortable, supported, and dry while you hangdog to figure out that tough sequence or gear up for the next pitch in the desert sun. The durable shell withstands wear and tear from abrasive rock and ice while speed buckles near the waist and legs adjust to fit your warm ice-climbing layers or the tights you wear to clip bolts.
Hi i’m colin power the climbing category director black diamond and this is our new vision harness this is the lightest. Weight full functioning harness on the market 224 grams designed really for alpine climbing for gear loops low-profile gear loops for. Ice buffer slots a super thin. Low-profile belay loop fixed legs it’s super packable and really lightweight. Like i said 224 grams so having a. Lightweight harness is one thing but having it really packable is another so it takes up less space in your pack not exactly on the comfortable side of the. Scale though a lot of the guys have been wearing this thing sport climbing and it’s like totally fine really really minimalistic 149 95 available in january. Of 2018. Pretty sick it’s pretty sick what we did. With this was we took our kinetic core construction from our zeno center chaos. And our ethos this is really the guts of that we stripped all the shell and everything off and left the the bare bones basically the skeleton so this is. Vector and fiber super strong doesn’t absorb water really packable really lightweight made the width balance. Between comfort and pack ability way more comfortable than you would think but it’s alpine rig it’s designed for alpine climbing no adjustment on the leg loops you know the only adjustment is the waist belt to get it on and off and this belay loop is super cool it’s. Basically one strand of super high-tech. Fiber that’s wrapped around like a doughnut and then wrapped in this casing. So it’s not like that most belay loops are a piece of webbing that’s folded into looping and bar tack so that’s how we could get this to be so strong and so small and it’s way way way over built we. Could even make it smaller and it would still meet all the requirements but it would get to the point you’d be freaked out we actually played with the diameter. Of this tubing a lot because our other. Have thicker but then it’s it’s not as. Packable we found this to be a good balance between functionality and pack ability if you put nothing on it then it’s really hard especially with gloves and jackets and stuff in packs some ski mountaineer is gonna wear this you go to the tetons you want a real harness that’s really light in packs well 224 grams that’s insane it’s only 5 grams i. Think heavier than the kawar which i would classify as not a full functioning harness you know yes you can wrap it and. Stuff like that but you know it’s got the diaper legs and no gear loop you know that kind of thing so this is like got everything you need on it called the. Vision because we thought that these climbers that are looking at these crazy north faces in the mountains like they have the vision to link up these ice smears and stuff this is the kind of harness that they want to wear sadly we. Made it for kyle dempster that’s who we made it for and he had our first prototype when we lost him last fall you. Know we made it for those guys for kyle haydon kennedy urban novak you know. Marko appraisal like these kind of dudes you know that are really pushing it but of course anyone can use it for anything they want but we really wanted to make it for those kind of guys that are pushing the limits in the mountains.

The Deuter Women’s ACT Trail 28 SL Backpack will carry everything you need for big hikes where the goal is summit or bust. This well-conceived pack features Deuter’s SL Women’s fit, which takes into account the smaller frame of female hikers. A reduced torso length, narrow shoulder straps, and a conical shape all result in a better fit for women who feel that standard backpacks are too large. The contoured shoulder straps have a breathable air mesh lining, while the back panel allows air to actively pass between your back and the pack for a cool and comfortable fit. The main compartment can be accessed either from the top or from the front panel. A wet gear compartment keeps your rain jacket separate from other layers after those frequent and pesky afternoon rain showers, while multiple gear loops let you carry an ice axe or trekking poles when you need to.
What is up Duroc here you first outdoors. Today i wanna do a quick little review a. Pretty sweet little daebak i like god it’s gonna be the deuter a ct trail 30. That’s right this little pack is quiet. Impressive actually i was kind of skeptical but i used it on a recent hike. And i was very impressed with it especially if it looks kind of small but. It held everything i needed it to hold. Which was surprising and it is very. Comfortable so I’m gonna go over a couple things with it and pack it out shows you how much it held for me and why. I think it’s a good pack for the money alright let’s take a good look at this thing first so pack is very light empty pack weighs. Out 2 pounds 10 ounces this is the acp. Trail 30 so it’s a 30 liter pack i was a. Little skeptical about the hip belt you know there’s no padding or anything like that now you gotta understand this is just add a pack so you can pack. It out really well but this really it did well and the padding here kind of. Leaves a space between your back so some. Air can flow through that and that seemed to work well it was a pretty hot day when we hiked up mount Trumbull. So i was very comfortable got some stuff i already used this pack once this is looking at the back the. Straps are adjustable here and then up. Top but you can’t adjust the back like. Port or so that’s pretty much you get. What you get flipping this over what i like about. This too is it’s got the little rain. Rain fly that will cover back here. Always like that i think that’s great in the packs no although i should try and. Put this all in the packs full up see what looks like they will do that to that’s cool that stuff back into there. You’ve got a one strap to lock the top. Down here and you’ve got some extra. Space on the front here to store some. Things and you can also store some. Things well that’s the side. Entrance there so that’s kind of windy. And you’ve got that on one side what you. Also have is the ability to just open. The entire pack from the top like that. So that’s kind of handy grab things out. Of there without having to go to the top and then there’s also the top pocket. Which you can store some things to get your key holder there and there’s also one more pockets isn’t there yeah inside. The top there you can cram some stuff in there as well. We’ve also got a little bit of knowledge. Right here you know alpine emergency by. You know singled aircraft all those things that’ll help you out if you get. And a pinch well it’s tough this thing. Our real quick alright so what you’re. Seeing here is the back fully loaded. Everything i like to carry on a day hike. And it seems to hold on then what i. Don’t have i don’t have stuff jammed in the top pockets or in this front pocket so those are still empty although I’m. Sure i could find something to put in their i like to pack a view so that’s just or lots of stuff that’s just how it. Rolls but we’re loaded you can see how. Now that holds up. Show you how fitz. Here we have it’s pretty good mmm. One thing i really like about this and i was kind of weird when i first put it on is like with the straps it belts I’m. Used to pulling back to tighten this one. They go pull front and it’s beautiful it. Looks great I’m you can just type down like that and i just think it’s so much easier to pull that away then this way that’s brilliant. Actually i think so that’s really cool also on the sternum strap it has this. Plastic thing that’s clipped on and it. Moves up fairly simple so you can adjust. Sternum strap pretty easy. Looking at this now that could pop off. Just pop out of there it doesn’t run. Through so that’s gonna happen i mean. It’s gonna happen this is gonna pop off. And i presume that you could pop it back on we’ll see but a cool little feature. But i think that yeah i know that’s. Gonna pop off sometime somewhere it’ll grab on something i don’t know interesting works well but well we’ll. See won’t we you already got a loop sewn. In here to hang something sunglasses a. Little camera case something like that’s pretty cool okay there’s there’s. One side pocket here and i generally. Don’t carry sticks on day hike just. Depends on what I’m getting into so this will fit in an al jean bottle. And you can run this through the loop at the nalgene top there to keep it from popping out but that works well and you. Can also use to hold your sticks or whatever looking at this is going. To fail in time everything fails but. That’s i don’t know like i said this is. A new pack I’ve only used it once I’m hard on things I’ve run through bushes. And dragged things across it i mean it’s. Just we’ll see but for the moment it. Works you can just that yeah i mean this. Is gonna pop off or rip out it will i. Now it just cuz it’s happened. Everything every time i have things like this they’re gonna fail not off the back. But eventually so bearing that in mind. You can still fit an al jean in there. And you could probably rig something up to tie it but that looks pretty secure in there but this thing your miles may. Very i suppose but it’s handy and it’ll. Work for the moment we will see in time. Heavy usage you know things are gonna fall apart there’s another one over here. Also where you can hang something. Through and a nice axe or something i suppose something else but there’s no pocket so yeah you know you got some. Little things sewn here you could attach things to so there’re options it’s cool i. Like what i like it you know i think it’s a well-thought-out pack for the most part i think these things could be. A little sturdier and a little more. Heavy-duty but you know things like that. Will increase the cost of the pack so. Yeah we’ll see where it takes it rights. You’ve also got some loops sewn in on. The bottom here and they’ll be useful. For some things this is connected here. You’ll take unhook that and that’s how. You’ll access. That’s your side wait a minute do you. Notice that huh okay well there’s a side pocket right there instead of an outside. Pockets a zipper pocket where you could stash something a map or something would go there wow just now I’ve seen all kinds of cool stuff so you don’t clip these claps here. And this will get you into the top of. The back to get whatever you need out of their back down so now that this thing’s. All full up let’s try that rain fly. Again see how that holds up sticks out. Of here put these back on so i got a. Full up pack will this fly cover it now. Moment of truth alright so the fly is attached to the. Pack fly out and wind grabs it you’ll. Never see it again let’s see this. Actually well right look at that. Axe fully loaded and the rain cover just. Covered the entire pack and it covers it. Well that’s cool love it and it’s even. Got a little drain hole at the bottom like i said this is a this is a pretty thought-out pack a nicely thought out pack all right you’ve got your slot for. Your camel back hose and then it’ll run. Down strap there go right through there. So there’s your water system if you will. I don’t really like using camelbaks. That’s just my preference sometimes i do but a lot of times i don’t I’ll just stick with no jeans so what I’ve got in. The pack is I’ve actually got four. Nalgene bottles in their now one of them. Stuffed with things i may need so in. Theory i could hold a gallon of water just with the nalgene bottles in here and I’m. Gonna dig everything out and show you what i got in their so jackets rain. Jacket also got another now jean this is. Got a bunch of stuff in it. Whistle lighters blah blah blah and I’ve. Got 20 liter dry bags this just got all. Stuff like compass sunscreen food toilet. Paper all those essential things like that and i don’t really carry this is a. Quick dry bag this is more for a canyoning so I’ve got stuff ready for a canyon I’m doing tomorrow we’ve got a lighter dry bag which I’ll use this to cut down on weight but it’s still it’s still the same thing 20 litres it’s not full of course but you know that’ll work. Too and that’s everything that was in. There and you’ve also got your slot of. Course for your camel back in here like that so there you have it all my stuff. That was in there so pack holds quiet. A bit everything you need for sweet long. Day hike and if you have to have or come. Into some inclement weather it’s already. Geared like that I’m very impressed with this pack i like it i like it a lot and i think it’ll last there’s a couple weak. Points i think but you’re gonna have that’ll anything and if you were to make. Those things more heavy-duty like i said. It’s just going to increase the price point of the pack and as far as the. Price point i think was it yeah this went for 130 dollars so. I think it is worth it. To be honest with you so there you have. It the door a ct trail 30 i use this pack. You can check out the video the hiking mount Trumbull video i use this pack to do that hike and it served me very well i think I’ll get a lot of use. Out of this pack so as always appreciate. You watch stay safe out there if you haven’t subscribed please subscribe, and we’ll see you next time do you rock out.
The La Sportiva Women’s Trango Cube GTX Mountaineering Boot has won awards and industry accolades, and yet you’re still skeptical. But don’t worry, the hype isn’t the result of overpaid marketing monkeys turning nothing into something—it’s the exact opposite. Perhaps the lightest waterproof mountaineering boot on the market today, the Trango Cube combines Gore-Tex climate control with robust durability to keep your foot warm and dry on your cold-weather attempts at altitude. The 3D Flex system enhances your foot control when traversing convoluted territory, and part of the tongue comes out if you need a little more room in the boot.
Seamless upper construction eliminates pores and seam-sited weaknesses. Waterproof QB3 fabric mixes with stretchy FlexTec 2 material to protect your foot from getting tanked by dankness when assaulted by ground snow or flying graupel. A rugged Vibram rand fends off ice boulders and adds a hit of stability when the twisty trail redefines technical. The direct-inject Thermo-Tech TPU lacing system says “no” to stitching to extend the boot’s lifespan while shaving off nearly 1/3 of the weight from a traditional riveted lacing system. Gore-Tex Performance Comfort lining guarantees your means of mountaineering motoring (um, yeah, your foot) stays dry and happy in a climate-controlled environment.
A low-profile, 4mm graded nylon insole puts a skinny pillow of softness under your heel and has a barely-there feel by the time it reaches your toes. A strategic blend of PU and EVA maximize midsole cushioning without drawing unnecessary attention or detracting from ground communication. The Impact Brake System uses directionally juxtaposed lugs to give you tacky traction on the way up and the way down. Vibram One, an exclusive sole material made for La Sportiva, maintains this boot’s firm fascination with the earth. The TPU heel insert lets you strap on a hybrid crampon to accommodate terrain that changes faster than the weather.
With a flexible, yet supportive BioSync design, side-strap compression system, and a slew of handy pockets, the Gregory Maya 16 Backpack is ideal for full-day hikes or epic mountain bike rides. The Maya’s BioSync suspension system allows the pack to move with your body in motion and keeps the pack centered on your back. Side compression straps secure the load so it doesn’t shift around inside the pack.
The pack’s hydration tube management system keeps the drinking tube within easy reach, so you don’t have to divert your attention to take a drink. Dual waist belt pockets and side pockets make it easy to access the things that you need to get to in a hurry, like your camera or a snack. The Gregory Maya 16 fits a two-liter hydration reservoir, which is enough for a day hike or a long cross-country mountain bike ride.
For quick drops into the backcountry on trail runs or hikes, Deuter created the Attack 18 SL Backpack. The Attack is outfitted with all the necessary technology to keep you enjoying the open air outside, rather than worrying that you forgot something or don’t have enough water. This pack is hydration compatible so you can have your reservoir just a sip away. The helmet carrying option is helpful when you don’t know what could be falling from above. You also are always prepared with this pack’s raincover that conveniently packs into the pack. The Deuter Shield System is also up for the task of keeping you safe. With injury-prevention technology, the Shield alleviates weight and resists impact if you were to fall, so that you can just get right back up and keep on booking it.
Trail ready and street smart, the Deuter Women’s Airlite 14 SL Backpack will work well for your everyday needs and carry what you need to get out into the mountains over the weekend. Featuring Deuter’s SL Women’s fit system, the Airlite 14 SL’s shoulder straps are set more narrow than normal to accommodate more petite female frames, and they feature soft edges along the straps to eliminate pressure points and reduce the chance of chaffing. Realizing women’s hips are shaped differently then men’s, the AirLite 14 SL has a conical shape to better deliver a more anatomic fit for women.
The pack itself features a twin-frame construction capable of comfortably carrying up to 13-pounds of gear. A detachable rain cover keeps your gear dry whether you’re walking home, or you get caught out on the trail in a storm. A hydration compatible design makes for quick on-trail hydration, while stretch side pockets stow water bottles. A single webbing hip belt adds to the comfort of the pack, and the 3D Airmesh lining further promotes the breathability of the pack.
Perfect for counting ounces and saving space out on the trail, the Leki Micro Vario Carbon AS Trekking Poles offer ultra-lightweight, adjustable performance for mountaineers, trail-runners, and hikers. The lightweight Aergon Thermo grips have an ovoid shape that’s easily palmed or held traditionally, while the rubberized, dimpled tops offer textured grip points and easy-to-adjust straps to provide additional security. The Dynamic Suspension System (DSS) reduces stress on the joints, muscles, and ligaments, and even reduces the peak impact force to protect your muscles, joints and ligaments. The locking mechanism saves weight and increases collapsibility while still delivering strength and adjustability.
We’re taking a look at the leakey micro vario carbon dss anti-shock trekking. Poles these are an extremely collapsible. Ultra lightweight trekking poles that. Are perfect for your owns counting backpackers travelers who are looking. For trekking poles that really collapse down into luggage and people who are looking for a lightweight pair of trekking poles that don’t skimp on any. Features so these are fully featured. Poles the first thing i want to point out here about these poles is they actually do have a shock absorber at the. Bottom so the dss in the naming here it. Stands for a dynamic suspension system lake ease put a lot of research and. Development into this feature and there’s an elastomer here at the bottom. Close to the point of impact of the. Ground it’s lightweight and it’s extremely durable so it’s not going to. Wear out over a long period of time and the basic function of this shock absorber is really to take out that vibration that you feel through the trekking pole when you’re hiking for long days long miles on the trail. Sometimes that vibration that comes. Through the pole can irritate your wrists your elbows your shoulders and. This just dampens that vibration the. Other standout feature of these poles is that they are extremely collapsible and the way leakey achieves this is by. Having a very durable cord that runs through all shaft sections of these. Poles and they go together almost like. Tent poles they remind me of the way tent poles are designed and then all you do in order to set them up is stretch. That out and it tensions the cord that’s. Inside and makes this very durable there’s a push button here that comes. Out once you’ve got everything set up you can hear that positive click and then you’ve got an extremely durable pole here so really great design now. This is a carbon fiber so each of these. Shaft sections are extremely lightweight perfect for those ounce can in backpackers and this does have an. Adjustable range these will adjust from. A hundred and ten centimeters all the. Way up to a hundred and thirty centimeters so fully-featured trekking. Pole here on those days where you may be. Climbing or descending and you really want to make quick adjustments it’s perfect you can also really just dial in the exact length of trekking poles that you. Need and this is lake ease speed lock. It’s an external lock it couldn’t be any easier to adjust basically you just. Flick it open with your thumb adjust it. To the proper height and then flick it closed and you’ve got a really secure lock while we’re up here on the grips. You do have an ergonomic leakey air gan. Grip there are thermo grips so you’ve got really comfortable foam here and the. Thing i really like about foam grips is they work well in all temperatures and in all seasons so in the summer if your. Hands begin to perspire this really. Wicks away sweat and you can keep a. Secure grip there with your hands but. Also in the winter this material works well with gloves you have an extended. Grip here so if you need to grip the pole at a different spot that’s really easy and then you have this egg-shaped top that’s really great for palming the. Top of the pole so a nice wide top there. And then obviously you’ve gotten adjustable straps they’re really comfortable they’re lightweight and you can adjust them to just take the strain. Off of your wrists as you’re hiking moving down the pole you have leki’s carbide flex tips it’s a very durable. Tip here and you have that carbide end. So that’s going to last a really long time and the thing that’s great about these tips is that they do flex a little. Bit if they’re put under a lot of pressure so let’s say they’re caught between two rocks it’s going to take the. Force away from the actual shaft sections of the poles and this tip is going to take most of that force so it’s going to protect the poll it’s going to last a long time and they are replaceable you do get just a narrow. Diameter basket here there is a thread. On the tips so you can take these. Baskets off and put a snow basket on. There if you need to so with all the features here you get a very lightweight set of poles with that carbon construction they’re extremely collapsible so they’re. Great for travel they’re great for those ounce counting backpackers who don’t want to skimp on any features you’ve got all the adjustability you need in a very comfortable grip they’re the leakey micro vario carbon dss anti-shock. Trekking poles. You.
These are the lakey women’s micro vario core tech ta trekking poles they fold. Down for easy travel and are versatile. For hiking backpacking and trail running if you’ve used hiking poles in the past. But thought they were cumbersome or if. You’re ready to upgrade to high end lighter weight poles these could be the perfect option for you let’s check them. Our first i want to show how easy they. Are to set up your goal here is to put. The segments together and tighten the central cord so all sections are firmly. Connected it’s important to notice two. Mechanisms this is like ease speed lock lever and it makes height adjustments to. The poles and this is the lake ya’s pld. Push button locking device that holds. The sections together once they’re set up you won’t see this button until all. Sections are locked into place okay from. A folded position hold the grip and let. The other pieces hang be sure the speed. Lock is closed and find the pole section. That is concealed in the upper segment pull down on that section to reveal it. You can put the two lower sections. Together one by one or you can set them. Up all in one motion because they will slide together as you pull down on that concealed section you will know the. Central cord is fully tensioned when you hear the distinctive click and see the. Silver button the first few times you. Try it you may need to tug a little harder than you think you should the whole process looks like this. Now you’re ready to make the height. Adjustments with the external lock just open the lever with your thumb adjust to. The preferred height and push it closed I’m five six and i use poles at about. 115 centimeters these are women’s. Specific poles so the adjustment range is perfect for me laiki made it super easy to fold back. Down this silver button loosens that. Central cord so you can fold them again i find it helpful to tug these two. Sections apart to make it easier to press the button to conceal that first shaft section back up into the grip now. That cord is loosened so you can fold. The two lower sections if the length is. Still set to what it was while you were hiking just lower it to the bottom and store them in the carry bag the shaft sections. Are made of aluminum for durability the. Kortek grip at the top is ergonomic and. Has a lot more shape than most of the. Lightweight folding trekking poles I’ve seen on the market these are called the aragon compact grips, and they’re sized. For smaller hands the egg-shaped top is. Perfect for palming when going downhill and the extended length means you do not. Have to make time-consuming adjustments to the height while going uphill the strap is adjustable and soft on your. Hands the small trekking basket is for. Summer use but can be replaced with a snow basket if the weather calls for it those are sold separately the tip is incredibly durable and gives reliable. Traction on any surface this portion of. The tip has a bit of flex that’s why. It’s called the carbide flex tip so if it gets jammed in between two rocks it will bend and flex first to save the. Upper shaft sections from breakage it’s a rare instance but the tip is fully. Replaceable so should you need a new one. The cost of a new tip is nominal compared to a new set of poles that. Makes these a perfect option for avid hikers backpackers and trail runners there the leakey women’s micro vario. Tech t a trekking poles call us with. Your questions or visit our store at. So how we do guys your old pal baba ganoush you once again how is everybody doing so I’m up here in new jersey right. Now I’m up here visiting my family for a few days moving some things out of my. Apartment up to here and so i figured I’d get out and go for a nice quick day. Hike so I’m actually up on the appalachian trail right now no up in the northern. New jersey section it is a nice crisp 22. Degrees out this morning so i know what. You’re thinking bob what in the world you’re doing only wearing a long-sleeved. T-shirt you’re gonna catch cold well you know if you watch my videos you. Know me i like to keep things nice and light nice and simple i run really warm. As it is and I’d rather not sweat with. It being so cold out here i know am i just out for a day hike but even. Stopping and standing still for a few minutes if i start to sweat i can just. Feel the cold really kick in so I’m just. Keeping it nice and light give myself a little bit warmer this is the under armor cold gear so it does still keep me fairly warm but most importantly it’s. Breathable keeps me dry i still have leggings on underneath my hiking pants gloves on hat on all that stuff all that. Good stuff I’m good to go but enough. Chitchat so i was looking at this view behind me I’m out here for another reason and that. Is to talk about my brand-new day pack that’s right i got a brand-new day pack its something that is really awesome super comfortable so and i figured what. Better way to review it and bring it out on an actual day hike get the feel for it and talk about what i think about the. Backpack thus far so let me get some miles in let me continue on the way get warmed up a little bit here who’s gonna be a beautiful day i got some beautiful views for you guys stay tuned we got some good stuff to talk about drill barnacle. How you do everybody so it’s been a. Beautiful day hiking this far coming towards the end or i have to turn back around and head on back so i figured i. Would stop talk to you about the brand-new day pack that i just recently purchased so i present to you guys the. Mystery ranch screen 35 litres let’s go. Ahead and do a quick turn around so i am. So excited to finally own a piece of mystery ranch gear they are a really popular backpacking company they make lots of really cool gear as well I’m an. Rei just started carrying them so of course i had to pick it up now of course i know should probably stay involved what are you doing spending there’s money you’re trying to get ready for through like well you know what my current day pack the rei traverse not that there was really anything wrong with it was a fairly comfortable backpack but i always had problems with the hip belt rubbing my hips raw no matter how many times I’ve used it no matter how many layers i put on it would always rub my hips raw i need to get. Something a little bit different so i wasn’t killing myself you know heading on into my through bike so i want to pick this bad boy up let me start off by saying it is an immensely comfortable. Backpack i tried it on with like 15 pounds of weight and it felt like nothing so a couple things I’m going to. Cover with this backpack here today number one I’ll cover some of the specs of the backpack some of the dimensions so on and so forth secondly from there we’ll talk about some of the main features of the backpack itself and then I’ll talk about the main features that i really like about the backpack why i wanted to get it and especially moving forward why i wanted to get a backpack like this so it is pretty chilly out. Here let me take this guy off let me put my puffy on, and then we’ll go ahead and get on into the backpack itself so okay guys just some quick specs about the backpack itself again this is the mystery ranch skree backpack so to start off with this. Is a 35 litre backpack i know it’s a. Little bit on the larger side of day packs but i wanted to go with the larger side day pack for a particular reason one i can carry some extra weight some. Other little odds and ends and as well moving for with this backpack i wanted to get a little bit more versatility out of it this is the medium/large version you do. Have some torso adjustment this is gonna be about 21 to 22 inches long on the. Frame just the initial frame itself not. When you extend the torso as long so you. Can get away with this as a carry-on size luggage if you really need to you’re looking at about 9 to 10 inches. Deep really nothing too bad there and. You’re looking at about 13 to 14 inches wide there so pretty nice dimensions. Again 35 later you can use this as a carry-on piece of luggage if you really had to the overall weight of the backpack if i remember correctly is right around two and a half pounds don’t quote me on that i will leave that answer in the description down below so. Right around to two and a half pounds so not too bad it is a very supportive backpack and as well what i like about it is waterproof, but we’ll go ahead and talk about that in a little bit and last but not least this does retail for. One 7995 down at your local rei so a. Little bit more on the expensive side but as i get into some of the details and some of the features about the backpack you’ll understand why it’s a little bit more expensive than some other options okay so let’s go into some. Of the features that you’re gonna get with the backpack let me start on this side first and foremost so down the down on the bottom you do have two hip belts. Pockets down here i know a backpackers favorite just having access to those snacks some ready available items kind. Of thing like that really nice what i really love about this backpack is they have really heavy cushions. Shoulder straps it’s almost as if they took the shoulder straps off they’re bigger backpacks and put it on this one itself so it makes it really supportive standard sternum strap tether. You have down here but what i really like that they did was that they have this kind of elastic piece here this. Kind of elastic clipping system so if you do have a water bladder you can lash down the hose or if you need to keep a knife whatever the case maybe it has. This a little elastic I’ve been utilizing it to hold my go pro. Right there really cool feature right off the bat for me especially and of. Course it comes with some of your standard adjustment load lifters up top fully of all really nice coming on to. The side here you do have your mesh water bottle pockets sitting there pretty nice size i think i can fit two of these smaller size water bottles in there you can easily fit a full liter nalgene without a problem now they are. Pretty they are pretty vertical so what. I found out is the best way to get your bottle in our number one getting them out is push up from the bottom and it quickly pops out there for you to get it. In i notice that if i grab the whole water bottle and then push it in it’s a. Little bit easier to get my water bottle in and out that way while it’s still on my body you do have these on both sides. Of the backpack coming on up to the top. Here you do have number one a quick easy access pocket there I’m just keeping some snacks in there right now and then right in front of it you do have a deeper access quick grab pocket I’m. Keeping just my car keys my wallet just. Some other odds and ends so on and so forth right now and of course along the top you do have. Some different loops some different looping systems to where if you need to lash down equipment now flipping it on. Over to the front here this is really where it makes its money so to start off. With blatantly out in the obvious is this kind of y shaped zipper this is a. Fully taped sipper so a waterproof zipper what’s really cool is opening. This thing up the way it kind of splays out really nice wide lid right off the. Top and as you can see it kind of has this extra collar so as it’s zipped over. With those two zippers coming together you know that there’s not going to be any water kind of leaking in through. That small little gap so really nice on their part there before i zip down the. Front across the front you do have all these different daisy chains and different loops and everything that you have there another great way for lashing down equipment whether it be axes climbing equipment so on and so forth. Really nice and convenient they already provide you with that you do of course have not only dual-purpose lashing clips as well as compression. Clips across the front this helps keep everything together you can strap down extra equipment if you have to and then. Of course the big thing here again a tape zipper fully waterproof this is. Opens on up as you can see i have just some puffy jackets just a fleece hoodie. I my rain jacket sitting in there right now but it’s cool how everything opens up in one shot inside is a fully coated inside so going. Along with the tape zipper you do have. That waterproof coating to make sure everything inside stays nice and dry now. Inside there i know it’s behind a bunch of stuff right now but you do have a small hydration sleeve it’s not overly. Large to be honest with you can. Probably fit like maybe a 1/2 liter 1. Liter one and a half liter bladder if you had to but it’s intended to fit more. Of like a small actual tactical water bladder not one of those camel bags for. Casual purpose so really nice features. Really nice and versatile as well multi-purpose and love how it’s waterproof all by itself making this a. Really durable backpack any long-lasting backpack up on top of that so that price. Tag starts to look a little bit better doesn’t it so ok guys why did i get this. Backpack i know I’m getting ready for my. Thru-hike why would i spend the money on a brand-new day pack well for starters like i said before my other one was raw. I needed something a little bit more comfortable so that it wasn’t tearing my. Hips apart and creating problems for my thru-hike that’s number one number two. As well i wanted something that when i get off the trail was help was going to. Help me go into my next phase of my youtube channel now i know i do a lot of. The back packing a lot of camping and a lot of that other awesome stuff as well and i love doing it but i would like to. Get into more of the climbing aspect of things so especially a waterproof backpack tons of the lashing points something that’s really supportive really ideal for that climber you know. Being able to carry your ropes your quick links some of your different harnesses everything lashed out on the outside something super convenient and. As well an extension to the backpacking. I wanted to get into some of the more bush craft side of things as well so. Again fully waterproof backpack number one that’s awesome with what i want to do with all the different last points being able to carry an axe being. Able to carry heavier knives wool blankets on the outside and some basic equipment on the inside really good for that and of course being having. A super supportive suspension system and being able to carry some of. Those heavier bush craft items something really ideal for me so i know it’s a little bit oversized for a day pack at 35 liters but it’s something that i plan. On utilizing a lot moving forward and in. A lot of different ways and this gives me the versatility necessary to do that so for anyone looking for a new day pack something to take them traveling something to look for a waterproof option great for climbing great for. Mountaineering great for bush craft as well definitely take a look at the mystery ranch scree a really good. Backpack this is the first day I’ve had it out and so far i am so impressed with. This i can easily take this for a night or two if i really had to but i have it. Through mike to get ready for first and foremost we’ll talk about that down the road so thank you guys so much following. Along on another great video here whew. Starting to cool down a little bit i guess it’s time, but we snapped up got up. On the way so thank you guys so much for. Following along on another great video another gear review i hope this helped you out with something if you’re looking at a new day pack yourself don’t forget to subscribe down below to keep up to date with all my videos check the links in the description to follow me on the trek on all my blogs on my Instagram as. Climbing mountains is hard enough without wearing mountaineering boots that feel like they’re made of lead. Make your way up the mountain more efficiently with the La Sportiva Women’s Trango Tower GTX Mountaineering Boot. This warm alpine boot offers ultralight warmth and support to help you scale towering peaks in remarkably lightweight comfort.
Gore-Tex Performance Comfort keeps your foot dry when you get caught off-guard by a freak snowstorm in the middle of summer, but still breathes well to keep you from overheating at lower altitudes. The rugged upper with Honey-Comb reinforcements withstands the roughest punishment the mountain can dish out. PU in the midsole offers support and cushioning when moving over rocky terrain, and EVA inserts decrease weight while still absorbing impacts and providing excellent rebound. Rounding it out is a Vibram One outsole for reliable traction on precarious ridgelines and the durability needed to withstand season after season in the high alpine. This sole is also equipped with an Impact Brake System for better control on descents.
The Scarpa Zodiac Tech GTX Mountaineering Boot strikes the midway point between an approach shoe and mountain boot for those missions with long approaches and snowy summits. ActivImpact Technology absorbs impacts during your approaches for more comfort on your joints while a Gore-Tex membrane keeps your feet dry as you encounter snow near the summit. The boot’s multi-density PU and EVA midsole provides a balance of weight and performance to keep your feet cushioned without weighing your down when the miles get long. Additionally, the Zodiac is outfitted with Scarpa’s ActivFit system and Sock-Fit system to reduce bulk and create a snug fit for precision and control on technical ascents. The boot is compatible with semi-automatic crampons for icy traverses and the Vibram soles provide you with durable traction across all the other surfaces you’ll encounter.
Back country edge comm subscribe to stay. Tuned and follow us for the latest in outdoor gear great deals and trail. Knowledge we’re the gear specialists at. Springtime is still host to icy sections until they melt from summer’s heat, and then you have rocky terrain to climb until autumn covers those steep hills with snow. Instead of having a pair of boots for each season, go with a heavyweight, super warm boot for winter, and leave the rest of the seasons to the Scarpa Women’s Charmoz Mountaineering Boot.
Hi it’s peter again I’m here to talk. About a variety of different mountaineering boots that we use in the field I’ll start over here on my right with the uninsulated single boot kind of. Rock climbing summer mountaineering oriented we’re going to see this boot on the matterhorn and the eiger in europe. And on the 13-day course and the cascades moving up in insulation is. Another single boot but this one is. Insulated we use this on all over the. Cascades and on mount rainier in mid summer and you’ll also see this on mont. Blanc in europe next step up in. Installation is our double plastic boot even more insulated with the removable. Liner you’re going to see this on mount. Rainier and in the cascades for the bulk of the season early and late especially when it’s colder you’re going to see this on mexican volcanoes and Ecuador this type of boot is very versatile one. More step up in installation is a high-altitude double boot here a little bit more streamlined lighter weight package and a even further warmer liner. Compared to this for higher altitude. Expeditions this is going to be really appropriate for Aconcagua and especially Denali trips finally on my left is the. 8,000 meter boot you’re going to see. This in antarctica on mount everest any. Other 8,000 meter peak and a lot of people are starting to use boots like this on Denali expeditions as well for. Extra warmth.
The Asolo Piz GV Mountaineering Boot is designed for comfort throughout long days in alpine terrain. Its Gore-Tex Performance lining seals out slush and melting snow without trapping in vapor that could dampen your sock and chill your foot. The Vibram Mulaz sole maximizes traction whether you’re climbing or braking on a descent, and works with a dual-density midsole to provide shock absorption to reduce fatigue for long climbs. The AsoFlex Spiky Nylon + Fiberglass last provides structure for stability whether you’re climbing vertically or traversing laterally. The Piz GV uses Dual Integrated System technology to make it compatible with semi-automatic crampons, enabling you to take on icy adventures with more bite and confidence.
Post and these are Oslo’s tighten mountaineering boots now these are serious boots for sure-footed pursuits on glaciated Peaks and alpine ascents these high-performance boots include a waterproof breathable gore-tex membrane
