The Arc’teryx Women’s Arakys Approach Shoe eliminates the need to bring along a pair of climbing-specific shoes when you go for lunch break gym climbs and quick after-work boulder missions. This innovative approach shoe is made for crossing technical terrain, but more than holds its own when bouldering, doing single-pitch climbs, or tackling quick routes on the gym wall.
The air permeable ripstop upper is tough, yet breathable, and a stretchy Adaptive Fit Lite liner conforms to your foot to eliminate hot spots, reduce break-in time, and provide a more secure fit. It also sports a collapsible heel so you can wear the Arakys as a laid-back slipper when you’re on belay. The leather footbed allows barefoot comfort, while the EVA midsole cushions your step when you’re hiking to a faraway crag for a bigger climbing mission. Vibram’s Light Approach outsole provides sure-footed grip on muddy trails and granite walls alike, and the MegaGrip rubber compound offers the right blend of durability, flex, and rigidity needed to handle everything from quick climbs to long approaches.
With The North Face Aleia 32 Backpack, there are more than seven internal and external pockets to give you unlimited organizational options. You receive two tool keepers and a hydration sleeve to make multi-day hikes simpler with the option to carry extra gear and more water. And to add comfort to versatility, this pack also has a women-specific trampoline-style suspended mesh back panel for extra breathability and support, as well as a vented-foam package to cushion your back.
Organization and comfort are huge components for hiking, but you also need to be able to move lightly and cruise through the trails. Luckily, the Aleia 32 Backpack is designed with beaver tail construction for integrated compression and storage, which lets you pack for multi-day hikes without adding unnecessary weight. This means that you store all your essentials easily and stride on comfortably.
It’s safe to say you got the climbing “bug” since you dream about pulling stone, imagine ascending every building you walk by, and never miss a chance to climb, whether it’s your first time on a trad route, your umpteenth time at the gym, or bouldering with your buddies until sunset. It’s also safe to say that your beginner shoes aren’t cutting it anymore; so look to the Butora Women’s Endeavor Climbing Shoe for that next step in sending performance. Butora shaped this shoe with slight asymmetry and a subtle downturn to help boost your morale on any climb you encounter. An all-arounder, the Endeavor feels good on multi-pitches, intermediate boulder problems, and most gym routes. Butora built this shoe with a moisture-managing German split-leather upper, stretch-reducing PU strips, and an odor-resisting hemp lining. The Endeavor’s updates for this year include Poron’s padding at the breathable mesh tongue for more comfort in cracks. Underfoot, the Endeavor features a stiff midsole to ensure structure on dime-sized edges, and Butora’s butyl F5 rubber sole sticks to slabs and edges equally for smearing or toe-powering.
This year you plan to tick off a whole slew of routes, far and wide, rock and ice, and you can rely on the Black Diamond Women’s Technician Harness to get you through each send. From granite multi-pitching to steep, icy alpine terrain, this harness flaunts five sturdy gear loops and four ice clipper slots to hold a rack of any size. The Technician’s lightweight and quick-drying waist belt keeps you comfortable, supported, and dry while you hangdog to figure out that tough sequence or gear up for the next pitch in the desert sun. The durable shell withstands wear and tear from abrasive rock and ice while speed buckles near the waist and legs adjust to fit your warm ice-climbing layers or the tights you wear to clip bolts.
Hi i’m colin power the climbing category director black diamond and this is our new vision harness this is the lightest. Weight full functioning harness on the market 224 grams designed really for alpine climbing for gear loops low-profile gear loops for. Ice buffer slots a super thin. Low-profile belay loop fixed legs it’s super packable and really lightweight. Like i said 224 grams so having a. Lightweight harness is one thing but having it really packable is another so it takes up less space in your pack not exactly on the comfortable side of the. Scale though a lot of the guys have been wearing this thing sport climbing and it’s like totally fine really really minimalistic 149 95 available in january. Of 2018. Pretty sick it’s pretty sick what we did. With this was we took our kinetic core construction from our zeno center chaos. And our ethos this is really the guts of that we stripped all the shell and everything off and left the the bare bones basically the skeleton so this is. Vector and fiber super strong doesn’t absorb water really packable really lightweight made the width balance. Between comfort and pack ability way more comfortable than you would think but it’s alpine rig it’s designed for alpine climbing no adjustment on the leg loops you know the only adjustment is the waist belt to get it on and off and this belay loop is super cool it’s. Basically one strand of super high-tech. Fiber that’s wrapped around like a doughnut and then wrapped in this casing. So it’s not like that most belay loops are a piece of webbing that’s folded into looping and bar tack so that’s how we could get this to be so strong and so small and it’s way way way over built we. Could even make it smaller and it would still meet all the requirements but it would get to the point you’d be freaked out we actually played with the diameter. Of this tubing a lot because our other. Have thicker but then it’s it’s not as. Packable we found this to be a good balance between functionality and pack ability if you put nothing on it then it’s really hard especially with gloves and jackets and stuff in packs some ski mountaineer is gonna wear this you go to the tetons you want a real harness that’s really light in packs well 224 grams that’s insane it’s only 5 grams i. Think heavier than the kawar which i would classify as not a full functioning harness you know yes you can wrap it and. Stuff like that but you know it’s got the diaper legs and no gear loop you know that kind of thing so this is like got everything you need on it called the. Vision because we thought that these climbers that are looking at these crazy north faces in the mountains like they have the vision to link up these ice smears and stuff this is the kind of harness that they want to wear sadly we. Made it for kyle dempster that’s who we made it for and he had our first prototype when we lost him last fall you. Know we made it for those guys for kyle haydon kennedy urban novak you know. Marko appraisal like these kind of dudes you know that are really pushing it but of course anyone can use it for anything they want but we really wanted to make it for those kind of guys that are pushing the limits in the mountains.
Calling the Gregory Jade 28 Backpack a daypack is an understatement; this all-season trekker handles summer ridge runs and winter ice climbs with ease. Its Crossflo DTS suspension system features a wired X-frame that stretches trampoline-like mesh tight, and there’s an HDPE framesheet with an anti-barreling stay for sturdy support. Cushy, ventilated EVA covers the shoulder straps and waistbelt for extra comfort.
The Jade is a traditional top-loader, upgraded with a larger zippered opening for better access to gear. There’s an internal sleeve and tube port for hydration reservoirs, as well as an external pocket with a removable rain cover inside. The backpack’s bottom loops attach trekking poles or ice axes, and Gregory added dual stretch side pockets for water bottles, dual waistbelt pockets for lip balm and energy gels, and security pockets both inside and out for electronics and valuables.
This is the Gregory jade 38 litre women’s pack it is the perfect size for. Quick overnight trips or a long gear. Heavy day hikes it works for both. Because you can load it up to the gills with 35 pounds of gear or use the. Compression straps to convert it into a smaller pack when it’s not full the back. System is breathable so it’s ideal and. Hot humid climates and the shoulder straps adjust for the perfect fit let’s. Dig into how it carries the load this. Has a free float suspension system with open air ventilation the wire frame is. Made of alloy steel and fiberglass and. It is designed to move and flex with you as you hike there is a horizontal stay. To provide additional stability under the weight of a heavy load there’s also a frame sheet for additional lightweight rigidity the shoulder straps adjust up and down the frame and the pack comes in. Two torso sizes so you can find the perfect fit the foam and the shoulder. Straps and the hip belt is supportive and the major contact points on your. Lumbar area hip bones and the top of. Your shoulders are cushioned for comfort. Gregory’s 3d comfort cradle system hugs. Around your lower back to give even distribution of weight it lessens the. Chance of hot spots and makes a big difference when you’re carrying the pack all day long there are many accesses. Points into the pack body this is super helpful when you need to grab a piece of gear quickly and it makes packing and unpacking simpler the double zipper. Pulls let you position an opening wherever you want so virtually nothing in your pack is out of reach if you put. Both zipper sliders at the top you can open this whole panel with one motion. The attached lid has two pockets one up. Top that’s perfect for a first-aid kit and one underneath that houses the included rain cover for quick access there’s a hydration sleeve inside and a. Port to route the hose to the shoulder straps those are sold separately you can. Carry extra water on the side pockets and the stretchy panel in the front is a great place for your rain check the hip belt pockets are oversized for. Larger smartphones and there’s a convenient place to stash your sunglasses when you’re hiking in and out of trees there are compression straps. Bungees and two loops to attach gear like trekking poles or tent poles to the. Outside the areas of the pack that see. The most wear and tear are reinforced like a double layer of fabric on the bottom and an extra durable material on. The corners of the frame this is a great. Option for long day hikes or quick. Overnight backpacking trips it’s the Gregory jade 38 litre women’s. Pack for the full specs and latest price. Click the link in the description subscribe to stay tuned and follow us. Ready for a weekend of backpacking or extended trips if you’re packing light. The Gregory jade 53 litre women’s pack. Is perfectly balanced between light. Weight features and all of those other. Features that you’re looking for organization and a pack that’s going to. Carry a heavy load comfortably now. Unlike extended trip packs where they’ve. Got heavy features this has really. Stripped-down features lightweight materials those materials are also very durable and strong and the suspension. System here really gives you the ability. To carry the load so I’m going to turn the pack around and talk about the suspension system I’ve got Gregory’s cross flow dts suspension system and. Again it’s pretty lightweight it gives. You a lot of ventilation with this. Tension back panel you can see all of that mesh there and i can put my hand. Behind it so you know that you’ve got all the ventilation that you need behind the scenes there you can see a cross pattern for the frame that is a. Lightweight spring frame and what i like. About that is it gives the rigidity that you need in the pack to give stability and to transfer the weight of the load to your hips but it will move with you. Because it’s the cross pattern it will flex a little bit as you move so this pack doesn’t feel boxy it feels like as you move going up and down hill it’s. Going to move with you and then you as well. Have behind the scenes a hdpe frame sheet that gives rigidity to but it’s. Nice and lightweight now you have a va. Foam where you need it there on the lumbar pad it’s a really comfortable lumbar pad and then behind the shoulder. Straps you have die cut foam that foam. Keeps you comfortable and unlike lightweight or ultra light. Weight backpacks this foam gives you plenty of cushioning so really. Comfortable cushioning on the shoulders and a lot of cushioning on the hip belt and the hip belt does have a little bit of rigidity to it too so it definitely carries the load well now. Obviously you’ve got your load lifter straps up here that give you some adjust ability this comes in three different sizes so you can’t actually adjust the harness up and down but you. Can use the those load lifters to dial in the fit and just choose the. Particular size that’s right for your. Torso in addition to the adjust ability. There you do have an adjustable sternum straps you can move that up and down. While I’m on the back of the pack you do have a hydration sleeve inside the pack. You can route the hydration hose out through the middle here and you even. Have a little catch here for the hose on. This side now the hydration system itself isn’t included, but they do give. You this smaller pack this can be hung. Inside of the backpack as the sleeve for. Your hydration system but you can as well. Take it out and use it as a summit pack you’ve got really lightweight and stretchy straps here so those are comfortable the material here is nice. And lightweight so it doesn’t add a lot of weight to the actual pack but you can use this as a day pack if you’re just. Summoning a peak you can use this to. Take some stuff with you or if you’re traveling and you’re just going out for the day that you can throw some essentials in this pack there’s daisy chain attachments on the front a small zippered pocket there on. That pack so it’s a really nice feature. That again doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack that adds a lot of value the. Pockets and organization are streamlined. And simple but it gives you all the. Organization you need on the front of the hip belt you have nice big pockets i. Can see these accommodating any size smartphone you can see this mesh pocket. Here stretches out really big you could put a small camera in there or something like that so really good size pockets. There and then on the lid you have the access into the. Back I’ve got a first aid kit in their so items you want to get your hands on quickly or lightweight items can be. Stored up there on the side of the pack. You have two very stretchy meshes pockets big enough to accommodate any size water. Bottle I’ve got a 32 ounce water bottle. In there and it fits well you’ve even got a compression strap on the front so you can compress that down and if you’re. Just going on an overnight or a short trip you’ve got compression straps all over this pack to make the load a little bit smaller you have a full-size lid here. And you can store lots of gear in there so then that gives you access into the. Body of the pack there’s even a small hidden pocket back here and that’s a. Great feature for travel you’ve got really easy access into the top of the pack with a nice big opening that’s. Really easy to use and i found that this. Pull handle is really nice as well so there’re little attentions to detail make. A big difference it’s all the access you need into that big pocket then you do. Have access in a couple more areas so. Something i really appreciate about this pack you have a nice big u-shaped zipper. Here where you can access all the gear. That you need that’s in the middle of your pack it’s tucked away back here so. It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack but as you can see i can open that. Up nice and wide almost like a piece of luggage and get to all the gear that’s in the middle of the pack so i can grab for whatever i need if you’re traveling. With this pack taking it overseas you can use it like that so really nice almost hidden pocket there. And then down on the bottom you have access into a sleeping bag compartment down there these zipper poles are so. Easy to use, and they make it nice and easy to get to the bottom now there is a. Divider in between the bottom and the. Middle of the pack but you can tuck that away if you need full access into the whole pack now also behind the scenes there is a. Hidden rain cover the rain cover is. Custom fit for the pack and it’s in its own designated pocket right here so rain cover matches the pack and it. Adds a lot of value so you don’t have to purchase a separate rain cover in the. Front a nice stretchy dump pocket too and then as you can see all over the. Front of this pack you’ve got two loops you’ve got straps here that you can. Attach a sleeping pad this is actually removable and you’ve got trekking pole bungees up here so there’s plenty of. Features here you can use this pack in a lot of different ways but all of those. Features don’t add a lot of weight to the pack, but they add a lot of organization and with all the features that you get here it’s a really great value it would work in a lot of. Different situations from a quick overnight to a weekend to traveling overseas it’s the Gregory jade 53 women’s. Backpack. You.
Hey everybody this is Jackie from the budget-minded travelers comm and i want to take a few minutes to show you today why i love my Gregory jade 50 backpacks so much and why i would recommend it for you as your go-to travel backpack but. First of all if you haven’t watched my how to choose the right travel backpack video i recommend that you watch that one so that you can understand what we’re getting into today I’m going to be talking about the three c’s comfort capacity and convenience alright allow. Me to introduce you to my go to travel backpack the Gregory jade 50 it’s a. Women’s size small for my torso and the. Number 50 is the pack capacity in litres why is this important three reasons. Number one the fact that it’s a size. Small is not only great for fitting my torso perfectly but it’s a bonus because. Check this out oh whoa thanks okay this. Backpack is about 20 to 21 inches that. Makes it small enough to carry on which is really important to me because i prefer to carry on whenever possible the. Second reason the 50 is perfect for me is that it’s small enough so that it discourages me from over packing yet. It’s still big enough to fit everything that i need and the third reason is that. It seems to be the perfect size for any length of trip that i take i can take it. For weeks or months it always seems to be the perfect size for me and now we’ll talk about comfort look closely at the. Frame of this backpack it’s actually shaped against the curve of my back. There’s lumbar support at the bottom and there’s shoulder support at the top and. The frame never actually touches my back. So when a backpack fits right all the. Weight should be right on your hips and this should be fastened just above your hip bone so once i get all the straps at. Just the right length I’m actually really comfortable and i actually hiked machu picchu with this backpack for three days straight and i didn’t have any problems with being sore i also packed like so keep that in mind all right on the convenience it’s. Important to look at the pockets straps zippers and extra flair that the backpack has so starting at the top. There’s one right across the top here which i like for two reasons on it. Makes a convenient spot to put things that I’ll need to access a lot like sunglasses passport wallet hotel keys. There’s even a strap on the inside here. For your keys so that they’ll keep them in a convenient spot and the second. Think i like about this specific zipper is that the zipper is actually tucked in pretty close to my body so that when I’m wearing it’s harder for a thief to. Get to and if you notice right here i. Actually keep a safety pin right there on that loop and that way i can safety. Pin the loop to the strap and it creates a lock on the zipper so i wouldn’t have to worry about people trying to get into it anyway alright moving on if you open. It up you’ll see that on the inside i. Don’t know if you could see this from there, but we’ll try there’s a pocket. Right against the back here i don’t know if you can see it but it fits documents. I always put my flight reservations and important things extra stash of money right there in that pocket because it’s almost hidden and the rest of it is just a big open space I’ve actually got a pillow stuffed in there right now to show you and then on the outside the. First thing that you’ll notice is this big bulky pouch and what i love about. This is that i actually use it to put my. Shoes in and you’ll see that I’ve got some shoes in it right here this is a. Very versatile pouch for anything that’s. Bulky shaped or maybe muddy i put muddy shoes muddy clothes in here all the time. So that’s a great spot for any kind of. Shoes and then on the outside of this there’s a long vertical pouch and this. Is actually pretty big this is where i keep my flip-flops because it seems to be the perfect size pocket for a flat pair of flip-flops and then on each side there are these. Adjustable pockets right here which you could also put shoes in or water bottles. There’s a velcro if you’re not going to use it and there’s also a strap right here that you could put around the top of a water bottle or the end of a shoe to hold it in there and that’s on both. Sides of this backpack there’s also on. The very bottom besides the mud there’re some straps here. You could put something long shaped in. This so like when i take this backpacking in the summer camping that’s. Where i put my sleeping pad because it’s a long awkward shape and it doesn’t even then have to go into my backpack it just goes right on the bottom and the last. Think and probably the most important is. This side pocket right here this piece. Of magic allows me to be able to reach. At the bottom of my backpack without having to take everything out through the top every time when i need something that’s packed deep and i almost forgot. Right here on the sides of the hip straps there’s two more little pockets that are perfect for chapstick they even fit a little point-and-shoot camera and anything that you need to keep convenient with you while you’re wearing your backpack those are great pockets for that and there’s one more see that i. Didn’t talk about with this backpack and that’s cost and that’s another reason why i love this backpack i actually went. To rei to get fitted for this backpack they had a blue one in the store and once i decided the best the backpack i really wanted i went to the rei outlet and i found this one which is even more perfect for me because my favorite color is red this backpack cost me a hundred. And four dollars on the rei outlet so i was able to save a lot of money that way. So there you have it a complete introduction and review of my favourite backpack the Gregory jade 50 i hope. You’ve enjoyed this video if you have please give it a thumbs up and come on over to check out my blog and podcast at the budget-minded travelers comm for. Even greater travel tips have a great day you.

Hi my name is barry I’m the general. Manager of unique outfitters and I’m here today at stone summit climbing and fitness center to talk to you a little bit about the red chilly spirit vcr let’s get into the details so some of. The features of the red chilly spirit are it’s synthetic upper which is going to limit the stretch on the shoe over the lifetime of the shoe it has three velcro closures which give you a lot. More variability and how tight you can get the chute in the back here there’s a little bit of a bulbous heel here and there’s a piece of eba foam up under. There that acts of the shock absorber if you come down on to a hard surface. The proprietary rubber on the bottom is a sticky rubber compound developed by red chilly it retains an edge really well and it’s quite sticky and last but. Not least you’ll notice that we have two pull tabs in the rear so you can really crank the shoe on with these so in my. Experience with this shoe some of the things that have you noticed about it that are really cool are one that it has on the inside of the. Toe box a microfiber lining which is nice and comfortable not a lot of other companies do that your knuckles kind of hit it and you go oh that’s nice it’s a. Very neutral shoe so it’s relatively flat across the bottom it’s great for. All-day comfort it doesn’t have a really high profile toe box which allows your. Totally a little flatter in it making it great for beginners or people seeking that nice all-day multi-pitch chute one. Think i wouldn’t recommend it for is extremely steep or overhanging climbing. Because it doesn’t have that down turn to really hook and pull when you need it to but beyond that it really works as an. All-around shoe. Thanks for joining us today my name is barry and this has been the red chilly spirit climbing shoe presented by unique outfitters.
The second you put on the Osprey Women’s Sirrus 24 Backpack and feel its mesh AirSpeed back panel successfully transfer the load to your legs, you get overwhelmingly excited, if not giddy for the big hike ahead. The AirSpeed suspension system combines the rigidity of aluminum stays with a tensioned mesh back panel for effective load transfer and cross ventilation, while the Women-specific Spacer Mesh hip-belt and shoulder straps ensure your load rests where it should for max efficiency and pain-free hiking.
Its ErgoPull waistbelt closure makes cinching down the belt easy, and hipbelt pockets hold your camera, shades, or quick snacks so you keep spirits high. And if rain starts to fall on your adventure, deploy the integrated rain cover to keep your gear dry as a bone. A Stow-on-the-Go feature on the left side lets you holster your trekking poles or ice axe for hands-free walking, and the compression straps let you adjust the pack’s volume to fit different load sizes.
When you’re scaling big walls for hours at a time, your helmet starts to seriously weigh on you. Alleviate this problem with the barely-there feel of the Black Diamond Women’s Vector Helmet. Its combination of co-molded EPS foam and polycarbonate shell provides full protection while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Generous ventilation ports reduce weight further while helping you stay cool on sun-blasted rock faces. The ratcheting suspension tucks away for convenient storage, and in-mold headlamp clip provides a secure attachment point when your climb extends past sunset.

Hey guys this is Monica I’m a climb. Stuff ambassador i am here in the. Gorgeous Joshua tree national park we just finished up a really great day of climbing and i wanted to tell you a little bit about my new helmet here this is the black diamond women’s vector helmet i love it i just started climbing. With it today and i just wanted to give a review of it first thing i really love is how lightweight this thing is you can barely feel that it’s on your head which. Is awesome and just don’t have to think about it the second thing is that it has really nice padding on the inside just. Right in the front here and over the top so it kind of keeps my helmet snug. Doesn’t let it move to run too much and keeps just really comfortable the third thing is these straps they’re really fit. Really well for a woman’s head so they. Just lie really nice next to my ears they don’t dig in anywhere and it just. Fits nice and that’s more important than. You think when you’re on a really long climb the next thing i really like is. These nice little clips most helmets. Have these, but they are nice for your helm your light that you have on your helmet if the light starts to go down like right now it’s turning it is on set so if we do one more climb we’ll just throw a headlamp on and clip it in and I’m all set to go so yeah the women’s vector helmet really. Awesome nicely ventilated really great. Ventilation all around and justin really. Great all together a new piece of equipment for me so hope you guys get a chance to come out here sometime and get. On this great.
Your last adventure race went something like this: you navigated on foot through a labyrinth of trees until you reached a river, hopped in your canoe and paddled over to where your mountain bike was waiting, jumped on your bike and pedaled over a mountain pass. Or maybe this just described one of your typical weekend days. Whatever the case, the Osprey Women’s Tempest 20 Backpack is a perfect lightweight companion for your adventurous day exploits. This panel-loading backpack holds up to twenty pounds of gear and water, and keeps things organized in convenient pockets. It features a women-specific fit and breathable, cushioned comfort to keep you from conjuring visions of chucking the bag downriver before you reach the end of your journey.
The hip-belt’s ErgoPull adjustment makes it easy to tighten or loosen on the fly, and the shoulder straps, harness position, and sternum strap can also be adjusted for a perfect fit tailored to your anatomy and load. The ventilating ridged foam back panel keeps you fresh while padding your back through long day hikes or multi-sport excursions. A pull-out LidLock helmet attachment fits through the vents on your bike helmet to secure it to the front of the pack, loop and bungee attachments hold tools and trekking poles, and multiple smaller pockets hold items you’d like to quickly access.
The Deuter Women’s ACT Trail 28 SL Backpack will carry everything you need for big hikes where the goal is summit or bust. This well-conceived pack features Deuter’s SL Women’s fit, which takes into account the smaller frame of female hikers. A reduced torso length, narrow shoulder straps, and a conical shape all result in a better fit for women who feel that standard backpacks are too large. The contoured shoulder straps have a breathable air mesh lining, while the back panel allows air to actively pass between your back and the pack for a cool and comfortable fit. The main compartment can be accessed either from the top or from the front panel. A wet gear compartment keeps your rain jacket separate from other layers after those frequent and pesky afternoon rain showers, while multiple gear loops let you carry an ice axe or trekking poles when you need to.
What is up Duroc here you first outdoors. Today i wanna do a quick little review a. Pretty sweet little daebak i like god it’s gonna be the deuter a ct trail 30. That’s right this little pack is quiet. Impressive actually i was kind of skeptical but i used it on a recent hike. And i was very impressed with it especially if it looks kind of small but. It held everything i needed it to hold. Which was surprising and it is very. Comfortable so I’m gonna go over a couple things with it and pack it out shows you how much it held for me and why. I think it’s a good pack for the money alright let’s take a good look at this thing first so pack is very light empty pack weighs. Out 2 pounds 10 ounces this is the acp. Trail 30 so it’s a 30 liter pack i was a. Little skeptical about the hip belt you know there’s no padding or anything like that now you gotta understand this is just add a pack so you can pack. It out really well but this really it did well and the padding here kind of. Leaves a space between your back so some. Air can flow through that and that seemed to work well it was a pretty hot day when we hiked up mount Trumbull. So i was very comfortable got some stuff i already used this pack once this is looking at the back the. Straps are adjustable here and then up. Top but you can’t adjust the back like. Port or so that’s pretty much you get. What you get flipping this over what i like about. This too is it’s got the little rain. Rain fly that will cover back here. Always like that i think that’s great in the packs no although i should try and. Put this all in the packs full up see what looks like they will do that to that’s cool that stuff back into there. You’ve got a one strap to lock the top. Down here and you’ve got some extra. Space on the front here to store some. Things and you can also store some. Things well that’s the side. Entrance there so that’s kind of windy. And you’ve got that on one side what you. Also have is the ability to just open. The entire pack from the top like that. So that’s kind of handy grab things out. Of there without having to go to the top and then there’s also the top pocket. Which you can store some things to get your key holder there and there’s also one more pockets isn’t there yeah inside. The top there you can cram some stuff in there as well. We’ve also got a little bit of knowledge. Right here you know alpine emergency by. You know singled aircraft all those things that’ll help you out if you get. And a pinch well it’s tough this thing. Our real quick alright so what you’re. Seeing here is the back fully loaded. Everything i like to carry on a day hike. And it seems to hold on then what i. Don’t have i don’t have stuff jammed in the top pockets or in this front pocket so those are still empty although I’m. Sure i could find something to put in their i like to pack a view so that’s just or lots of stuff that’s just how it. Rolls but we’re loaded you can see how. Now that holds up. Show you how fitz. Here we have it’s pretty good mmm. One thing i really like about this and i was kind of weird when i first put it on is like with the straps it belts I’m. Used to pulling back to tighten this one. They go pull front and it’s beautiful it. Looks great I’m you can just type down like that and i just think it’s so much easier to pull that away then this way that’s brilliant. Actually i think so that’s really cool also on the sternum strap it has this. Plastic thing that’s clipped on and it. Moves up fairly simple so you can adjust. Sternum strap pretty easy. Looking at this now that could pop off. Just pop out of there it doesn’t run. Through so that’s gonna happen i mean. It’s gonna happen this is gonna pop off. And i presume that you could pop it back on we’ll see but a cool little feature. But i think that yeah i know that’s. Gonna pop off sometime somewhere it’ll grab on something i don’t know interesting works well but well we’ll. See won’t we you already got a loop sewn. In here to hang something sunglasses a. Little camera case something like that’s pretty cool okay there’s there’s. One side pocket here and i generally. Don’t carry sticks on day hike just. Depends on what I’m getting into so this will fit in an al jean bottle. And you can run this through the loop at the nalgene top there to keep it from popping out but that works well and you. Can also use to hold your sticks or whatever looking at this is going. To fail in time everything fails but. That’s i don’t know like i said this is. A new pack I’ve only used it once I’m hard on things I’ve run through bushes. And dragged things across it i mean it’s. Just we’ll see but for the moment it. Works you can just that yeah i mean this. Is gonna pop off or rip out it will i. Now it just cuz it’s happened. Everything every time i have things like this they’re gonna fail not off the back. But eventually so bearing that in mind. You can still fit an al jean in there. And you could probably rig something up to tie it but that looks pretty secure in there but this thing your miles may. Very i suppose but it’s handy and it’ll. Work for the moment we will see in time. Heavy usage you know things are gonna fall apart there’s another one over here. Also where you can hang something. Through and a nice axe or something i suppose something else but there’s no pocket so yeah you know you got some. Little things sewn here you could attach things to so there’re options it’s cool i. Like what i like it you know i think it’s a well-thought-out pack for the most part i think these things could be. A little sturdier and a little more. Heavy-duty but you know things like that. Will increase the cost of the pack so. Yeah we’ll see where it takes it rights. You’ve also got some loops sewn in on. The bottom here and they’ll be useful. For some things this is connected here. You’ll take unhook that and that’s how. You’ll access. That’s your side wait a minute do you. Notice that huh okay well there’s a side pocket right there instead of an outside. Pockets a zipper pocket where you could stash something a map or something would go there wow just now I’ve seen all kinds of cool stuff so you don’t clip these claps here. And this will get you into the top of. The back to get whatever you need out of their back down so now that this thing’s. All full up let’s try that rain fly. Again see how that holds up sticks out. Of here put these back on so i got a. Full up pack will this fly cover it now. Moment of truth alright so the fly is attached to the. Pack fly out and wind grabs it you’ll. Never see it again let’s see this. Actually well right look at that. Axe fully loaded and the rain cover just. Covered the entire pack and it covers it. Well that’s cool love it and it’s even. Got a little drain hole at the bottom like i said this is a this is a pretty thought-out pack a nicely thought out pack all right you’ve got your slot for. Your camel back hose and then it’ll run. Down strap there go right through there. So there’s your water system if you will. I don’t really like using camelbaks. That’s just my preference sometimes i do but a lot of times i don’t I’ll just stick with no jeans so what I’ve got in. The pack is I’ve actually got four. Nalgene bottles in their now one of them. Stuffed with things i may need so in. Theory i could hold a gallon of water just with the nalgene bottles in here and I’m. Gonna dig everything out and show you what i got in their so jackets rain. Jacket also got another now jean this is. Got a bunch of stuff in it. Whistle lighters blah blah blah and I’ve. Got 20 liter dry bags this just got all. Stuff like compass sunscreen food toilet. Paper all those essential things like that and i don’t really carry this is a. Quick dry bag this is more for a canyoning so I’ve got stuff ready for a canyon I’m doing tomorrow we’ve got a lighter dry bag which I’ll use this to cut down on weight but it’s still it’s still the same thing 20 litres it’s not full of course but you know that’ll work. Too and that’s everything that was in. There and you’ve also got your slot of. Course for your camel back in here like that so there you have it all my stuff. That was in there so pack holds quiet. A bit everything you need for sweet long. Day hike and if you have to have or come. Into some inclement weather it’s already. Geared like that I’m very impressed with this pack i like it i like it a lot and i think it’ll last there’s a couple weak. Points i think but you’re gonna have that’ll anything and if you were to make. Those things more heavy-duty like i said. It’s just going to increase the price point of the pack and as far as the. Price point i think was it yeah this went for 130 dollars so. I think it is worth it. To be honest with you so there you have. It the door a ct trail 30 i use this pack. You can check out the video the hiking mount Trumbull video i use this pack to do that hike and it served me very well i think I’ll get a lot of use. Out of this pack so as always appreciate. You watch stay safe out there if you haven’t subscribed please subscribe, and we’ll see you next time do you rock out.

For you, however, Boreal presents the Women’s Alpha Climbing Shoe—an incredibly comfortable women-specific shoe with a low-volume fit, flat profile, and no asymmetry. Its moderately stiff midsole works with the Zenith Quattro rubber sole to help you learn how to edge and smear whether you’re in the gym or at the crag. Welcome back to maaske back outdoor. Adventures today I’m up here in southern appalachian outdoors and picking south carolina guess the marty fields owner of. The shop and a good friend of mine so today we’re going to be finishing up our review on the Gregory salad 24-day packs. And what we’re going to do is go through some of the pros and cons of this pack I’ll tell you right up front I’m very few very little wrong with this pack i really liked it well, and we’ll start out. By going through what i carry and why and get this done trumped any minute all. Right welcome back guys. Let’s talk about what i liked about this pack have you several tax with. The Gregory for a day pack. I found that i can carry anything over. And above what i normally carry which is in excess and so in some people’s mind. When it comes with date hiking will. Start by showing you what i carry this. Pack is ready to measure for 24 liters. Which i found to be pretty accurate the. 24 liters is way bigger than you. Really need to day hike but it really allowed me to carry the essentials and what i mean by that is I’m kind of like. Self-preservation if i get out we get out in the back country i like to have things and be prepared for pretty much anything if i get stuck there i want to know that i can survive no matter what. Kind of conditions are there are so hey we’ll start by showing you this i carry my fire kit everywhere every time i go. On they would consist with some fire-making materials here i carry a pin or any logbooks i might. Run across on the trail they’re lighter that’s actually a butane powered jet. Lighter very reliable. And might go to item ferrocerium rod. Found very few situations that i cannot. Start a fire with a ferrocerium run they’re very effective chuckle. Atwood if you’re familiar with bush crafting type skills this is excellent fire starting material it’s a just resin impregnated pine and what. That one is and of course another blade i carry. Believe you don’t have a knife here you do at home so anyway that pretty much. Covers my fire starting kit and that’s. In the center all right next item I’ve. Got here very accessible some d all. Right here protein this is nothing more than some turkey jerky great source of. Protein and energy out there on the front of course the amount of food you. Carry is going to be dictated obviously by how far and how long you’re going to be gone water filter and bag i use a. 64-ounce sawyer bag with my little mini filter excellent piece of equipment and. Stand by got to have a knife gotta have a good blade in the woods in my opinion. And i never go now that this is a more companion robust made out of 1095. Carbon steel one of the essentials these. Knives are great they’re very inexpensive one of my favorites actually. And you guys know I’m talking about here. Gotta have toilet paper well as my cook. Pot this one happens to be a little stanley this one actually came from. Walmart comes on very good piece of. Equipment $14 and my little go-the stove. And watch a review on that stove on a youtube channel as well this has two. Nesting cups which are very thick hard plastic which are lightweight but. Virtually indestructible, so we really like these you can cook in this we make. Hot tea coffee you name it can be dusted and next. First aid kit this one happens to be. Military in nature i have pretty much. Anything in here that short of a combat. Lifesaver yet you know we can treat any basically and kind of cut up into stitches i can’t do stitches but any. Minor injuries we can pretty much cover with that’s a whole nother review in its own, so we will get into that to be also state i can always carry my you. Know lovino hammock i can’t say that our. Camping that but i do have it just in. Case i find a little too big for the. Email to be staying multiple days on the. Trail of course my atlas straps for you know cordage always carry good cordage. With me and that’s for sure. Never know when you might need an extra. Flow in case it rains or whatnot and. Along with that express ox i like to. Carry my little small nikon binoculars with me i just like watching wildlife and of course you never know when you might need to see something far away so these are great these are little ten power great for the trail and of course. Flashlights got them a little tack light here I’m. Not really sure what brandi just says j5 tactical light i think i bought it online and one of the essentials to me. And score is having a bush craft type mindset i have my little grants poor’s. Brooks mini hatchet it’s absolutely one. Of my favorite tools i can pretty much do anything that i think i could do. With a knife with this tool for a. Hatchet this is razor sharp literally will shave you clean which is with a nice tool to be fine carving with it and. Split firewood with it just almost a. Necessity to me and of course i always. Carry a thousand milliliter water bottle at minimal this is the nalgene brand and. I could look at that’s it and you can. See on the bottom of the pack this pack has lasting points on the bottom for anything you might need and i just happen to carry by a little flex like a. Chair i need a place to fit anyway. Talking about the pack itself this seems. Excessive i know to most people as far as day hiking but it is my mom said that. With this equipment i can pretty much encounter anything i have the tools i need to build a shelter if i want you i have enough food i have fire making material i have a place to sleep in the hammock if i need to so i go prepare. Water filter you know this is. How i do it this is no right or wrong way to hike it’s just my way of doing it. One thing i like about this pack is this. Gregory sack is very lightweight I’m not. Sure what the spec says or we should. Look at but the pack itself is very lightweight it’s very well-made you know 24 litres. Is big enough to carry all of this stuff. And if you’re not a inclusive type day. Hiker like i am then you could fit. Clothing you can put anything you want to and this is how i do this offer he. Comes with a mesh suspension system that. They call their free span it was very. Nice i found that on the trail it kept. My back nice and cool even when you know. Going up strenuous steep sections of the trail i found it very nice the pack was. Very comfortable it fit well oh I’m 511. I weigh about 220 I’m kind of short. Waisted myself so this particular pack. Fit me very well i believe this one here. This is the men’s. Okay i believe it’s just a one-size-fits-all in the day pack but i believe that this pack would fit the majority of you know your average guy say which that’s kind of what i am. So very nice bit i like how they have on. The waistband they have nice pockets here you can put a phone there if you. Choose anything small knife and on both. Sides which is nice also i like the top pack that pouch. Up there you know i put some of the essentials in it a lot of times i like to carry stuff that i want to get to you really quickly like my knife you know fair socks you know toilet paper is just. A small essential up there and of course. The main pack has had tons of room in. It how obvious if you can expand that you know it works very well it also is. Equipped with a hydro bladder you can. Fit a pretty significant water bladder. In here if you desire which is nice i. Particularly don’t carry them a lot of people do guys another thing i want to. Show you is here southern a select amount ors, or he carries a variety of. These packs this is another Gregory also this is a sailboat as well this one’s an. A team leader it’s a little smaller in volume same features it doesn’t have the. Expanded waist belt just because it’s. Not as you’re not going to carry in here as much weight on this type. This one is world. This is also a solo 24 men’s packed. Different color schemes the only difference about that’s actually pretty cool anyway either I’d have to say that i. Would give that Gregory packing nine out of ten and i think yes grid dating for. The money i think retail here at the store this is a 115 so good value if you. Look at other different brands you’ll find that’s very comfortable and actually maybe a little bit less expensive than some of the other brands as well same feature packed item nothing. I want to mention too is versus some of. The other packs that I’ve used as well this one has the five pouches that are. Actually big enough to fairly easily put. A thousand milliliter water ball in each side without compromising your internal. Space so i found that to be very nice as well yeah anyway this has been andy with. Mossy back outdoor adventures here at southern appalachian outdoors here picking south carolina right on main street can’t miss it combined steve marty and everybody here, and they’ll do you right i promise. Thank you talk to you later. You.

Hey there and welcome back to peace. Couch now as many of you aware I’m about to embark on the marathon disorder which. Is something I’ve been concentrating really heavily on for the last year or. More as well as doing lots of training. I’ve been doing so much research on the. Amount of kit going to take and I’ve been testing a lot of stuff so over the. Next couple of weeks before i depart i thought I’d share some of those learnings with you and where better. Place to start than the backpack I’m going to take which i have decided on. The ultimate direction fast pack 20 now. This is super heavy at the moment because it’s its fully weighted so I’ve been training with but i just can empty it out and show you why i like it so much so here it is and it’s naked form. And this is what i like most about it is that it’s so minimal it’s basically an expanded running desk it weighs next to nothing and this is kind of one of the big deciding factors for me because obviously I’m trying to cut down as much weight as possible 510. Grams okay now a great thing to compare. This to is the official war bag which a. Lot of people will be using mdf and in. Contrast it’s got all kinds of stuff hanging off it and most importantly the. Weight of it 900 grams that’s a pretty. Huge difference so this is nearly half the weight of the wire back which is an incredible savings but I’ve also decided. To make an even bigger saving on it there’s not much you can cut off it like the like a wild bag you can get the diseases to that and kind of trim off some weight but here it’s so minimal anyway but certainly the most notable. Savings you can make is in the back there’s a bit of padding that you can remove, and they say that this can be. Used to sit on or even to you know used. To cushion your hips when you’re lying down i found it pretty useless. I’ve actually having removed this form. The back I’ve actually found the pack more come — boo and with it out so condition this. That brings the weight of the pack down to give time a gram so i say 10 grams. Right there so although this fast pack is nearly half the weight of the wire bag actually fits way more in it and it’s down as a 20 litres bag but i think. You could probably push that out quite a lot partly because of the nature of this main compartment and how it seals its kind of like a dry bag has a velcro fastening that then rolls and then clips. In at the sides now i probably got about. 20 litres in there now but you can. Basically just not roll it down as much and sitting maybe another five litres. Into that main compartment it’s not only that you’ve also got this fat mesh here. Which you can fit loads in that really stretches out and it’s a firm mesh as well so it’s going to hold things firmly in place i don’t tend to put a massive amount in there because i like to keep my weight closer to my back but it’s actually really good for holding waterproof or extra base layers that you. Might be using during the day stuff that down there and it holds it in their lovely and secure on top of those two main compartments we’ve got these mesh pockets on the side which also hold a lot of stuff very stretchy and pretty. Secure I’ll generally use those side pockets for stuffing food and stuffing rubbish because even though I’ve got terrible flexibility i can reach into those pockets quite nicely so coming onto the front, and we’ve got two really great water pouches here it really surprises me how many ultra bags don’t. Seem to have big enough pouches built in. For hard water bottles and maybe because they want to offer flexibility so that people can attach themselves but as you think this is a great weight saving thing to be able to build them into the bag that ultimates are it shouldn’t have done so as you can see — water pool. Tools fit there really nicely there’s also the option on this right-hand one if you don’t want to. Carry two water bottles this zips back up again and there’s actually a really nice secure pocket that you could maybe put bars you could put all kinds of stuff down in there it’s actually a really brilliant phone holder you can put your phone down into their sip it back up and that’s super secure. But i actually find that’s one of the major downsides of its bad for me is that I’m going to be running around with two bottles most of the time and there’s nowhere for me to put my phone now I’m not expecting to be on the phone the whole time but it’d be really good to have access to music and stuff like that if i do want to listen to music currently there’s nowhere else. On the front of the bag for me to put it. There’s this outside stretchy pocket just outside where the water bottle is but actually getting your phone into it. It’s pretty much a no-go really the best. Place for you to put your phone is there’s a smaller zip pocket on the side of the bag then it can go in nice and. Securely there’s also one of these clip leaves to put your keys onto you know I’ve ever used one of these so the annoying thing about it is that it’s going to be too far away for you to reach when you’ve got your bag on so coming back to the front you’ve also got two smaller pouches below the water bottles so if i just take these out so you can get a better look so on the left. Hand side we’ve got a zip and on the. Right-hand side we’ve got a velcro strap these are actually bigger than they look quite often i use them to dump keys and just have stuff that i want readily available, but they’re actually stretch out so hold a couple of bars maybe or you know something slightly more sizable approach they just not that phone but you can see i can fit two full clif bars. Into each one of these pockets obviously. One of the most important things about the bag is how comfortable it is and i get on really well with this and i think. That could partly be because of the nature of these shoulder straps it’s actually one bit of fabric runs straight. From the base of the bag over the. Shoulders and down the front you can see it completely wraps around which makes it really comfortable all the way around and especially now I’ve taking. That back bit of padding out it just molds into your body really nicely so one thing that it’s most commonly criticized for is that it has two chest straps but no waist strap and a lot of people will say that that creates a bit too much side-to-side bouncing when they’re running i can definitely see that point but i don’t really experience it too badly myself and i think that’s partly because i found a configuration that really works for me on the front here i tend to pack. A lot of the weight in the bag place for my body to avoid bouncing if i do experience any bouncing i tend to try and adjust my running to be a little normal glider which i guess i see is a win-win situation i kind of want to be a little bit more glide ii so the chest straps themselves are actually really nicely adjustable they’re set into these sliders here which you can move them up and down so i found best. For security for me is to have one right. At the top and then slide the bottom one right down to the bottom and that kind. Of clips me in nicely either side of the rib cage by far my biggest issue with this bag is full of my decision to take polls to the mds oh now handily enough. There’s actually some really nice. Elastic straps on the back that hold them nicely in place you can put them down here there’s a clippable elastic. Bungee that you can wrap them around and have them nice and secure on the back of. The pack like that but i know having. Poles on the back of the bag i will never use them so really i need to have. Then on the front straps but unfortunately on the front straps there’s nothing there that’s made to hold the poles so I’ve had to try and budge something to make it work for me now unfortunately i haven’t made life easy for my selves and I’ve got poles that fold into four sections which means. That both the handle and the pointer at the bottom which means that when it’s. Going down this way there’s nothing really to hold on to the top of the pole so my first idea was to put a hook at. That i tied on to one of these things here and i took this string on the top. And then i tied it to the side that worked it was actually quite comfortable. But it was just so fiddly I’m hooking this and hooking it back on again i probably was never going to use my poles because it was too fiddly so then. I tried other things i tried to pass them on to the front which is a terrible idea don’t try that it was awful and i also tried to fasten it down here somewhere which again didn’t work so my final winning solution simply uses two pieces of elastic one of which just ties. Straight around the strap and around the water bottle here and one which fixes on. To the bottom buckle over here and that one has a sliding clip on it so all we. Do is we take the end of the poles and put it through the bottom bit of elastic we tie that site then put the end over the spike which. Then holds that in position and stops it falling down then the top you just feed. Through that top bit of elastic which. Holds it nice and securely in place so that’s nicely out the way and more. Importantly it’s a really light solution and i know it’s going to be simple enough for me to deploy and actually use the poles when i need to use them so that is the ultimate direction fast pack 20 is a massive winner for me really recommend it if you are doing a multi-day ultra or if you just do a lot of running weekend so check it out.
