Couple like a couple holes for me but this is about the time when I’d be retiring a pair of shoes anyway and for a trail pair that i literally beat the heck out of it’s surpassed a lot of my. Expectations i don’t normally run in a five. Millimeter drop i don’t know why i just didn’t say this earlier but this she. Doesn’t really feel like a five millimeter drop it’s taken a lot of stress off my Achilles because it is a. What you guys are really doing design wise is still a good tight fit in the. Heel and the instep but doing much more. Of an anatomical slightly wider toe box really how the foots actually shape yeah i think that’s really one of the unique things about the mt two is that i. Like to have a roomy toe box your toes can spread and splay but a lot of times in a shoe like that you have a shoe that fits a little sloppy in the back the level of security to feel fast and. Nimble i think you still need to feel really connected in the back half and through the waist and the shoe so i like that sensation that puts you know tight security through here but lots of room up front so your toes. Better sense of control yeah i was blown. Away by how light this is he’s dog great trail tread can handle couple miles of road no problem but you. No really good grip underfoot but it. Was really to me like how light this loves specially the level of cushioning 23 millimeters in the heel 20 in the. Forefoot so you’re doing a little bit of moss that’s three millimeters millimeter you’re not completely stuck into a zero. This shoe still comes in at about nine ounces one of the key characteristics in. This shoe this is a waterproof shoe we use a vent waterproof membrane here the. Membrane is actually laminated directly. To the mesh so unlike you know some. Waterproof shoes you’d build a full bootie yep and you cement that bootie to. The effort can make it a little hard well in this case the upper is actually quite supple and soft so it allows the foot to still move and work in a natural way well and it also makes the shoe lighter so again coming in at just barely over nine ounces an issue for. Shoes was a waterproof trail runner for the winter and these did win gear of the. Year from national geographic so just. Getting out the shoes out of the box. Personally this is a nicer color right. Of the two for my preference just. Looking at the box here tell us a little bit of information about the company the ruby toe box low drop lightweight gives. More room in the toe box for your foot. Display on naturally low drop for a. Better guess a better uh just a better. Stride and better foot placement and. Lightweight materials nowadays you know. All the shoes trying to make lightweight materials so that’s their little spiel. Coming from topo athletic nice packaging. Nice box good description let’s get the. Laminated event upper as you can see. Right there event waterproof is the. Waterproof technology they use in the hydro venture similar to the gore-tex. However gore-tex uses there. Waterproofing material on the inside of. The shoe as here as event uses the. Waterproofing on the outside of the shoe which causes a better. Readability and yeah just overall. Better breath ability for shoe so you can. See the traction here on the outsole. Lugs aren’t crazy lucky but it. Looks like it looks like they’ll be. They’ll be able to get the job done as well. In here you have a rock plate right in. Here as you can see there that material. There and the outsole is perforated or. Has different sections so you can you. Now flex the shoe more easily and be. Able to move more naturally in the shoe. With the rock play in there so it looks. Like a very durable outsole a solid. Product coming from taupe athletic and. Get back up to the upper and the tongue. Tongue looks very beefy very nice. Although this is the lightest weight. Waterproof trail runner from 2016 to. Date so you know they’re doing their. Doing something right here we’ll have to. See I’m gonna go on a test run with these do. About a six-mile progressive running. These just on some grass and dirt trails. Nothing too crazy but i will do a a. Hey guys what’s going on today I’m going. To be reviewing the topo athletic ultra. Ventures this shoe is pretty fantastic. If i had one way of describing this shoe. I would have to say that it is the love. Child of a an ultra and a hoca it does. Come in at ten point four ounces so it. Might be slightly on the heavier side even though ten point four ounces is. Pretty stinking light there is a five. Millimeter heel to toe drop so you’re starting off at thirty in the back twenty-five in the front and that’s where i would say it’s kind of emulate soar resembles a hookah but it does have. That traditional foot shaped or wider. Then normal toe box and tomiko toe box keeping that great toe and alignment. Letting that kind of be your anchor point for your foot and letting the other toes splay out in here this shoe i. Really can’t speak too much on anything. Bad about this shoe i haven’t had a bad. Experience and it this particular pair has 310 miles on it and then i have a. Brand new pair over here which I’d be. Hard-pressed at any point in time of my life to buy another pair of the exact. Some shoe and the exact same color so. Anyway that should tell you something this shoe has gotten me through a lot of. Long runs i kind of got the shoe to try. Out for a training cycle for double. Dalek ultras unfortunately i got really cold in the race and so anyway i made it. 100k out of 100 miles but it had nothing to. Do with the shoe it’s very money on the trails that day very cold very wet the shoe outperform. Itself it comes with a v boom as you can. See with bieber marketing they’re gonna tell you that it’s a v room again with a v berm outsole this is the xs trek not. The magna grip or maggot grip that comes. On the speed goats the hoko speed goats but be advised that the maggot grip is going to be coming out on the a new pair. Of toe bones anyway the waterproof toe pose that are gonna be coming out next year or 2019. Look for the hydro ventures anyway look. For those coming up these have a new. Improved upper there’s a couple different overlays let me show you on the cleaner pair a couple different overlays on here they’re actually more. Than one piece the toe bumper is separate from this overlay giving you a little bit more protection the upper is. Actually a new printed mesh or new type. Of mesh anyway so you’re getting a little bit tighter mesh up here in the front keeping out some of the debris and. Then a little more open mesh more tour. Of the metatarsals give me a little bit more airflow and breath ability maybe a. Little more drainage new feature also and a bunch of the new trousers it’s gonna be these gills alright they’re. Basically drainage ports so whenever you. Get water in your shoe every step from that point I’m gonna act kind of like you’re forcing the water. Our kind of pumping the water out of your shoe with your own steps i have. Noticed i have gotten these shoes very wet have noticed that they do drain. Really well and also the new upper as. Well as this has given the shoe a more. Comfortable temperature anyway some. People have complained about taupe was being very warm this shoe especially. With the new porthole insole I’m. Getting a little worth of light marketing in there with the new. Porthole insole has actually become a lot more. Comfortable temperature-wise i did get the shoe right when the weather was changing so it was still kind of warm and it’s felt fine through coming up. Here now in the 30s all right not too. Cold here in virginia anyway there is a. Gator attachment in the back so it’s kind of weird looking topo brandied. Gator attachment here got hook little. Places for the hooks and I’ll show you. With the gators on these so I’ve got. These hooks that kind of walk in there and then the gator like a normal gator. Pulls over and it attaches too wherever. You need in the front it’s a lot easier than this when you have one anyway so there you go. With the gator attachment and that is a. Topo branded gator attachment these would work with any other type of gators you would just have to do your traditional velcro and i actually did so. In velcro on these so i could use them on the magnifies are the magnet flies. Twos anyway alright. The tongue is fully gusseted I’ll show you on the other pair that son just. Fully gusseted meaning it is sewn in and. So that prevents a lot of the sliding around of the tongue and bunching and. Creating hot spots and i really haven’t noticed any hot spots in this shoe the. Upper is three pieces sorry i think already said that but anyway the eba. Upper or sole is three pieces you’ve got. Kind of little bit firmer sole here or. Aba here a little bit softer in the back and even though this would traditionally. Mean that this is a stability shoe or a guidance shoe this piece is still just. Maybe a hair firmer than up here and i. Have a neutral foot and this i haven’t felt like there’s any guidance or anything like that this shoe again is called the ultra venture meaning it’s out it’s going to. Be marketed towards someone who’s going. To be out there maybe more on an ultra run or ultra marathon and when they’re. Fatigued their foot kind of hits the. Ground a little bit differently so it’s kind of it might give you a little bit of guidance but not enough to where it’s gonna throw off your gait i have like i. Said 310 miles in this pair of shoe and so normal wear and tear i did really. Really try to destroy this pair I’ve got. A little wear back here I’ve got a. Little wear right here where there’s a. Couple like a couple holes for me but this is about the time when I’d be retiring a pair of shoes anyway and for a trail pair that i literally beat the heck out of it’s surpassed a lot of my. Expectations i don’t normally run in a five. Millimeter drop i don’t know why i just didn’t say this earlier but this she. Doesn’t really feel like a five millimeter drop it’s taken a lot of stress off my Achilles because it is a. Five millimeter but at the same time there’s enough cushioning in it to where it almost feels zero ish drop I’m not. Gonna say it does because i don’t want to give you the impression that it is a. Zero drop or it would crush down to being a zero drop like the heel would be that soft but it does kind of. Feel like it hooks on to your foot a little bit better than a lot of other shoes out there is enough cushion here in the back to give you a nice heel. Cup and kind of lock your heel down in there now i would give it you know a. Couple strides out there to let it adjust before you tighten it down anymore if you did feel a little heel slipping one other thing i really wanted. To point out there is no rock plate in here and there are a couple cutouts to give it a little bit more flexibility but if you do step on something that. Sharp there’s enough cushion in here that’s gonna give you that protection and you might feel it but it’s not gonna hurt you’re too much to the point where you get like a stone bruise i have stepped on very sharp things and how it. Had any issues and then one thing that i really enjoyed about this shoe was with this aggressive outsole i stepped on a. Couple routes this way and had i not had. This type of little slightly you know. More aggressive outsole that they’ve been putting on the new trail line for. Toboe anyway i might have slipped off. That but that route but i actually kind of caught it and so i was able to prevent some foot rolling because of that it did take me a little bit of time to get used to if you’re not traditionally used to running in a more. Aggressive outsole because there’s just slightly more clearance underfoot so. You’re getting the 25 and 30 but then. You have an additional maybe 5 millimeters here and i have run on this. On-road a few times i haven’t felt the grip so i feel like. That there’s enough cushion in there to that you do run over pebbles or whatnot you’re really not gonna feel those so that’s that should be a good sign anyway and try not to be too long-winded on this but this is a great shoe i highly suggest it guys got any questions pop them down in their bottom you want. A hikers and runners i wanted to share. My experience with my topo terra venture. Trail runners i guess they are I’m not really a trail runner I’m more of a hiker but i had a problem with finding. Shoes that had a wide enough toe box for. My wide foot and i tried on all the. Major brands at rei and this is the one. That i found that fit me the best for a wide foot i was a former brookes. Cascadia wearer but the last i don’t. No 4 or 5 models of brookes I’ve been. Unable to wear because the toe box is too narrow so these are a little cut. Shoe they allow your ankle to flex naturally they’re lightweight they weigh. About 10 ounces they’re ventilated they. Have a nice full mesh upper with some. Reinforcing that’s printed on there versus laminated so not a lot to come. Apart here’s a little demonstration of. The grip of these terra ventures. They have a minimal heel to toe drop i. Believe it’s three millimeters so it feels it’s got a natural feel to it. They’ve been around for about only a. Year or two toni post was the founder of. These he also worked with vibram so he. Knows a lot about the soul has an aggressive lug to it lug pattern they. Have a foot plate yet they’re still soft. Enough where you can feel the trail and you get a good round feel there are. Pretty good value these are i got them on sale at rei I’ve got used my 20% off. But i think they’re 100 or a hundred ten bucks full price so pretty good value comparable to the ultra lone peak so. They really do have good traction they’re lightweight I’ve got them paired. With my dirty girl gaiters. You. I’ve had him up the mountain behind me which is golden gate mountain here in the desert in tucson that’s about a 1700. Foot elevation getting to thinking they. Worked great on that and it’s there was some good scrambling and actually some wall climbing up there that we had to do so that was fun they worked great for that they work great for trail like i said they’re a good shoe if you’ve got a wide foot give em a try.

So if i pull up here you can actually see I’m pulling it rights through the shoe have a look yourself is three pieces of independent webbing that are last. Into the bottom of the shoe okay, so they’re independent of the up when i take this piece. These lakes and i pull across here. Here i take one two three pieces of webbing and it pulls up the entire. Toward the mid-foot so if anyone’s sort of alpinist or climb you want to be on your toes on your. Forefoot to give the jam these types of things if anyone’s a size. Eight point five uk you put your foot in and do it across you’ll find that the width of the shoe decreases what a hot the size that feels this way and it. Forces you onto (there) than the menial walkway okay sir right on — surprise it’s the climate zone so bite something. So simple like this it actually changes the hell behavior of the shoe so that when you head to a technical area you want to do this crap sighs look across the divide. And the stooges sorts itself out as you’re running right, so we just this is the extra little piece that makes them.

Toe box that are preventing the shoe from getting worn down along the bottom the shoe you’ll see there using the vivid mega grip outsole now uses another shoes before and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about it as far as the drop of the shoe goes from back to front you’ve got a nine millimeter heel drop a couple other features that aren’t listed on the website but i think are very much worth noting is the fact that they seem to use what’s called a closed cell foam around the inside of the shoe as well as the top what does that mean well it will. Not retain moisture so when you get this shoe wet the top doesn’t stay wet it gets dry very quickly the same goes. Around the entire shoe i found that no matter how deep the mud pit i go through the thing would dry out really quick and the dirt would basically shed right off the shoe and finally up top one it is simple but really appreciate it features is the fact they have what i call a lace garage up here so once you’ve tied your shoe you can shove the laces underneath the top of the tongue so that the shoes won’t get untied as you’re running as far as weight goes our tech’s call these lightweight running shoes and I’d have to agree the lightweight not ultra lightweight so a pair of these comes in around 620 grams for my size eight and a. Half pair that’s about 10 to 15% heavier than my. The Lightest shoes but i think what you get out of that is a much more durable shoe that shows much less wear over time in addition to the blue color that you see here you can also pick up the shoes in a yellow a black or even a red if you don’t like the blue all of them are basically monotone single colors and not. Too flashy which i like just fine I’ve had these shoes for a couple months now and I’ll fall i had a slow start to the season I’ve already put them through quite the paces including using them in my first trail running race of the season a 42 kilometer in bear mountain new york. Which is very rocky rough terrain and for anyone whose known that race it’s. Known to eat up shoes and as you can see these shoes are no worse for wear so I’ve been very impressed by that I’ve also used them on a broad range of trail runs ranging from very dry to very wet and on grippy surfaces and very wet. Surfaces and basically the shoe has taken everything I’ve thrown at it in stride so i can say that they’ve been very good performers as far as the fit. Of the shoe goes i say it strides the middle ground it’s neither too big nor too small in the toe box fits just right for me and when you slide your foot in its sort of like a slipper feel the tongue is gusseted to the side of the shoe with a bit of spandex and i bet you could run in these without socks if you wanted to at the back i found the shoe cradled my heel quite nicely i never had any problem with the heel coming up or down or having any hot spots if you do find it loose at all though it does have that extra eyelet on the top of the shoe so that you can tighten around even more all in all has been very impressed with this shoe last year i tried the knorr van vt and although it was a solid shoe it wasn’t quite the right one for me but this ld i find myself reaching for more often enough for all different conditions and I’ve been very impressed with it with the ride i get out of the shoe it’s solid yet it still has a good. Trail fee without being too bulky and is very durable well that does it for my. Reviewed some under armor leggings i reviewed my under armour cold gear version of these same leggings you know. The only difference between these leggings is one is heat gear and one’s cold gear, but we’re gonna be focusing on. The heat gear version of these leggings today you know if you think of like. Under armour’s compression where you. Now the heat gear material that’s in their compression shirts compression. Shorts this is still the same material it’s a very thin lightweight material. They fit tight since this compression. It’s not fitted some leggings especially. Some coal gear leggings will come in a fitted version personally i like to always go with a compression like feel. Because the fitted ones you know will be loose in a few areas so with the compression leggings i feel like you know if you’re buying them you know you want them because they’re tight and you. No fit tight around you know the body fit tie around you know your legs so. Really one big characteristic of these. You know is the heat your version so. Some other some nice features about these we’ll just kind of go over some short things here it’s got a drawstring. It is adjustable so you know if you do. Find yourself maybe if you get the wrong. Size you can still adjust them to where. They fit correctly but i would always advise you guys to i know you’re gonna ask me you know what size do i wear if you know if i wear like a large well. Now these come in a variety of colors you know just the basic color is like black navy blue i think they have kind. Of a lighter blue and white in these so. You’re kind of limited on few colors but really i feel like if you’re going for. Leggings you’re gonna go for a basic color like black or white. These actually retail for $39 so i feel. Like that’s not overly expensive pair of leggings you know being that some of the. Colder ones can can range anywhere from fifty to sixty dollars and then being. That their heat gear they’re not. Necessarily sued for the cold weather they’re more suited for the you know hotter weather but i would say that these would be great for fall you know say if you’re playing football and you know it’s not it’s not overly cold you. Now this would be perfect you know if you still like wearing the col your leggings or you’d like to have leggings with your football uniform i think these. Are you know great to go with you know even kind of in this fall weather because you know you can you know you. Won’t be overly hot in them because you know they’re he gear, so they’re gonna breathe well so really and you know you. Guys might also ask you know how they kind of look short because if you look at them you know they kind of and I’ll try stretch these out here show you how long. They were you know they don’t fit like kind of like a pair of sweatpants you know i mean they do look kind of short but you know no matter your leg size these really do stretch out so and. I’ll kind of show you what i mean and once i do and put them on just kind of how long they stretch for me so let’s. Get into that all right so here the. These up a little bit or you know i can even pull them down like kind of over my. Socks I’m not necessarily a big fan of. Doing that but you know even if i just kind of have these i can just kind of. Where I’m just right above kind of where my low socks fit and you know they kind of feel a little loose down there but you know if you do really tie them up you know they can get tighter. Definitely you know they have a nice tight feel throughout the. Leggings and you know pull them up even. They get a little tighter around your knee and kind of shin area so it really. Does take a you know a little time to you know figure out how you like to wear your leggings i just really like to. Strap them on and go you know what I’m. Using these but i definitely think they’re you know a good buy if you’re looking to find you know some cooler leggings i know east bay has like their own brand and you know they’re not very much but if you know is you do like to go from the under armor brand. I definitely think these are the way to go as far as when you’re looking at heat. Gear leggings and i definitely think they’re you know they’re good for multiple sports and not just football. To short with you here on this new issue. Of ultra and i was really looking forward to the ultra hollister’s or. Sol’s ties matru how to pronounce that now the. Reason why i was so much looking forward to the shoe is because my good old love. The ultra 12.5 was discontinued they. Have a new version of it but it’s complete rebuild and it’s in no way a. Similar anymore to the good ultra 12.5. What i loved about the shoe was it was super light it was super quick. Cushioning it had a nice big toe box. With auto is known for but this one. Was even wider it really allowed me to move my toes nicely and was super. Super light and fast so i have run in. This shoe i think 1,200 kilometers that. Would be what is that about 800 miles or something like that and i have. Experienced a shoe as super durable although there’s only an arab you and or any rubber on the outer sole but. Just the foam it really held up wear. Well but now it’s its getting the life of the shoe is coming to an end after. Yeah 1,200 kilometers and that is to be. Expected so i was i was looking for. Another shoe a shoe that is very similar to this from our right a couple of other brands but i always got back to also just because of the zero drop and the nice wide toe box and i couldn’t go. With the next model of 12.5 because it. Was so different heavier not as comfortable so i was. Looking around and the only shoe that from out where that got into kind of the. Sphere of the good old ultra 12.5 was. Escalate now i have very good. Experiences with the shoe the first. Time i ran it in it was actually a. Back-to-back marathon boston marathon so. I bought it down there in boston at a. Nice warning store and the next day i put them on and run it back-to-back marathon without any blisters no issues. No problem nice cushioning very similar. To the 12.5 with regard to the. Experiencing of the experience of cushioning i would even say it the. Cushioning is a little better here a little softer however and i seem to. Fatigue after 60 70 kilometers a little. Faster than that was the ultra 12.5. Anyways it great shoe however the only. Dislike i really would like to bring. To the floor is that it is heavier it’s. Probably because we have this rubber material here at the sole we didn’t have. That here with the ultra one it’s it is more heavy and i just. Don’t like that i just want the continuation of this good old ultra 12.5. So since i was not that satisfied with. The shoe it was definitely not an improvement over the 2.5 there’s nothing wrong with this shoe but it wasn’t an improvement over the lighter and less fatiguing outer 2.5 and i was. Really happy to see that ultra came up. Here with a solo stylist all styles it. Is lighter it is weight wise almost. Identical to the ultra 2.5 it has a. Similar shape and i thought this is. It this is it but I’m highly disappointed the material. Foam that they use is so hard you cannot. I cannot even impress it in well so. Well you know that you see how i can. Press this nice land i can’t do any of. This year and now i have broken the shoe. In obviously you see the tread is still. Very visible here but there’s no way. That i can even imagine that this foam is going to break in and if I’m looking. At all the other ultra shoes here the. Paradigm or here the superior from the. Very day on and the escalate from the. Very day on you they were just soft and. They got even softer after a couple of miles running in them but this one i. Don’t know if they ultra in case you’re. Listening so ultra if you could offer. This shoe the solace does cause all. Styles if you could offer this shoe. Exactly this shoe exactly the same form factor everything the same but with this. Outer sole with this foam an outer sole. But the one of the outer one I’m going to buy this I’m going to buy a couple of those but this shoe as it’s now just. Because of this rubber and this outer. Sole material is just not worth it’s. It’s not it’s not getting any me. Anywhere it’s so hard it’s not an ultra. I’m unused to those soft nicely. Cushioned wide toe box zero drop ultra. Shoes while this has zero drop and while. It has the white hole box this song this. Outer material the soul is just ruining. The entire experience so i can definitely not advise you to buy this the shoe if you want something that. Resembles the typical running experience. That we would have with an ultra issue like the old 12.5 or the. Escalate or even the paradigm. Or the superior and a couple of other. Issues which all resemble that same experience this one they should. Have never produced i hope the next version of this one which is just ninety bucks or 100 bucks that’s not was very expensive this one with this outer sole. It’s a buy it’s probably i would say the. Best shoe that algar have has ever produced for road running it would be this shoe the solar size with this outer. With the sole material with that foam. Even if they had combined it with. With a foam he of escalate this would. Have been the real deal maker so this is. My review here of the new ultra saul styles and I’m disappointed I’m really. Disappointed it’s not the shoe that i. Hi this is tyler with trail for two and today I’m going to be doing a quick review on the patagonia Houdini wind. Shirt so I’ve actually had this jacket for a little while now but i wanted to give it a good test out in the field and. Really make sure that the information i was giving you and my reviews and opinions were based on actual field experience and not just my initial thoughts of it after opening it from the. Package that i ever seemed it in so as. You see here it is quite a small package on just only a couple inches tall by need four or five inches long here this. Is actually stuffed into its own chest pocket so this is the extent of the. Pocket you see here to that there’s a. Little tab if you wanted to attach it to a pack with a carabiner by some other. Method so it is pretty compact nice. Little package here i know that a few other wind shirts the pocket is larger. So when you stuff it into it doesn’t come back down into such a small space. And it’s kind of freely moving around i. Will say that it is a little bit of a wrestling match to try to get it in here. And it is a little bit tricky to close. It up i have found though that if you. Unzip the zipper first it makes it. Slightly easier to get it in but it is. Still, a little bit rough to squeeze it. In here so before we get started I’ll go. Ahead and weigh it so you have a feel. For what we’re looking at so according. To my scale here i have a man’s size. Small and it weighs three point four. Nine ounces so it is a pretty lightweight option it is a very thin. Material it’s by no means the lightest. Wind shirt that there is out there and but it’s also not the heaviest there are. Quite a few that are heavier than this but i would say that it does kind of fall into the mid-range as far as weight goes, so we’ll go ahead and take a look at it so open it up. Like i said this is the chest pocket. And that is the one and only pocket so. That might be a drawback for you if you’re looking for some storage space this jacket definitely does not have it. It is very minimalistic has very few. Features which is partly why i like it. It’s very simple so here as you see it. Is a full length zipper which is nice. You don’t have to pull it on over your head but it is a full length zipper just. Kind of interesting to that it’s not light even with the full length zipper so on a couple different features that i. Want to talk about here first of all start with on the cuff so if you take a. Look at the cuff the top is just a normal stitch but underneath about half. Of the wrist is elastic so I’d know if. They did that to cut down on weight or whatever but it’s kind of nice because the top will stay flat to your wrist and. So if there is any water or anything that rolls off or beans off it’s not dealing with you know this wrinkled. Material but it does stay pretty flat to. Your wrist and then also if you’re needing to pull. Up your sleeves at all that elastic on the bottom really keeps a snug fit and. Again on that top part is very flat. Against your arm so any moisture can run. Off if you needed to pull up your sleeve like that and it does a nice job it stays pretty secure pretty snug so. That’s one feature that’s kind of nice. Having that available so taking a look at the jacket here like i said it is a full length zipper this is a man’s size. Small like i said so if you take a look. It does zip up pretty high that’s. Actually a feature that i really like it really keeps you warm and it really does. What its name says it is a wind shirt and it does job of keeping out the wind and keeping. You really warm so that added height to. The zipper really encloses everything so. That’s pretty nice and again like i said the chest pocket is really only about this big right here so that’s not very. Substantial again there are not any side. Pockets here but that’s something you. May want to think about so the really. The selling point that pushed me in the. Direction of this jacket was the fit of. The hood and it’s cinch capabilities so. There are other jackets out there that have these you know hoods that are. Able to cinch down but i did quite a bit of research before and i went to. Different stores try them all on went online looked at different reviews. Watched youtube videos and it all came. Down to really me liking the features of. This jacket the best I’ll go ahead and. Show you the hood it is a pretty snug. Fit to begin with which is pretty nice even with it not zipped up all the way. You know it conforms to your head and. Stays on it’s a really nice fit and when. You zip this up all the way really the only thing exposed is just your face. Right here so in those conditions where it is windy or even if you get caught in a light rain and that’s something that is really nice to have also there is in. The back here if you can see it there’s. A little pull tab that you’re able to cinch you down the hood even further so. If you cinch that down really it’s basically cinches right here. All the way back and so it’s really just. Kind of brings it all in right on your. Head and really conforms to your head and that’s part of the reason i like this too is that there are other jackets out there where the hood is not very movable meaning that when you move your head that kind of stays in the forward direction in your head moves sideways but this does a really nice job. Of keeping with your head so if you’re. Really active running or doing anything. Like that this does a really nice job of keeping. Up with that so primarily i use this. Jacket up in the mountains and I’m hiking and when i go out on lakes flag. Fishing up in the mountains even if it’s. A sunny day and it’s pretty warm the wind can get pretty chilly and so this is something nice to have to take out on. The water with me also just to provide that extra layer of protection it. Actually is a really good layer of sun. Protection also sometimes even if it’s. Warm while i was throw this on to have that action that extra layer just because it is so thin in fact you can. Probably see through the material here. It is very thin you can see my hand behind it but um it is very lightweight. Which is a good thing it lives up to its. Name of a wind shirt and if you throw on. Another layer under this shirt it really does an extra nice job of insulating you. From the elements i have worn this in a. Light rain and it did a really nice job the water beated up rolled right off i. Had no problem i wasn’t wet or clammy underneath it all but i definitely would. Not recommend substituting this jacket. For a real rain jacket if you were to. Come upon any real rain conditions but. If you know you get caught in between some weather unexpected weather this is. Definitely a good item to have with you even if you’re just going on a day hike or not really expecting any sort of weather this is a great option to have so i definitely recommend the patagonia. Houdini if you’re looking into a lightweight wind shirt and it doesn’t have a lot of features as far as storage goes but what kind of pushed me. In the direction of this jacket was its. Capability here with the hood and the. Of the hood so something else to that. I’ll do is I’ll I’ll wear a hat and then put the hood over it and that cinching capability really helps to snug it all. In on your head I’m also same kind of idea of the wrist. Being flat on the front and then it’s cinching in the back or having the. Elastic on the back half on the front of. Your jacket here so the front there’s not any elastic here at all but there is. A shock cord here that runs from. Basically here all the way around the back to this side so it cinches in the. Back and keeps the front flat so that’s. Something nice too is you don’t get this awkward bunched jacket in the front but. Pretty much everything in the front stays flat and conforms to your body so. That’s something that’s nice too so definitely look at the patagonia Houdini. If it’s something you’re looking into our highly recommend. Oh.

About this jacket at least for me was the name so pedigo knee already has a Houdini jacket line it’s lightweight. Weather protection for hiking and trail running cycling the alpine Houdini took. The best concepts from that jacket and made modifications specific for climbers. Right so this jacket is really intended to be a lightweight weather protection. Layer that you can bring on save bigger. Climbing objectives where you worried about weight and not really know it’s there until you need it a storm rolls in so some of the features that make the jacket it’s very lightweight and minimal all you’ve got essentially is a. Full zip the hood and an internal pocket. And that’s it so that comes out to 6.6 ounces at least on the men’s medium the. Hood is helmet compatible obviously important for climbers keep the wind and the rain out when i fire the feature i. Like the most about this jacket is that when you’re not using it you can reverse the internal pocket stuff the entire jacket in their clip a carabiner on to.
