  • hi I’m in from gargoyles and this is the fantastic rub valiance jacket which is an incredibly warm and fully waterproof down jacket so it will deal with any. Whether you can encounter and it’s made. From pertex shield outer fabric which is fully waterproof and highly breathable and the outside of that there is a dwr. Treatment which means that rain and snow will shed off the down is encased in a. Box wall construction which means there’s down throughout and the down that’s inside is 800 fill power ethically sourced hydrophobic down which. Is quite a mouthful 800 fill power means it’s the highest quality down you can get so it’s super warm and highly compressible and the hydrophobic bit means that it’s been treated to make it. More resistant to damp so if it does get damp which is unlikely as its waterproof it will still retain some of its. Warmth took through some of the features at the bottom you have a draw cord hem. Which will help seal in your warmth and stop dress getting on the back of the jacket there are two deep hand warmers. Pockets here with water-resistant zips, and they’re raised slightly so if you’re wearing a harness or a rucksack belt you can still access the pockets the front. Zip is a ykk aqua guard zip which is waterproof so again that’ll stop any water getting in the cuffs have a velcro adjuster so again you can seal those and that’ll stop drafts or warmth getting out on the top here we have a down-filled hood and that’s adjustable at the back and can be cinched in at the. Side again in the weather’s really bad too you will stay warm and totally dry so this is the rub valiant down jacket. This is the men’s version, and we also do a women’s version it’s a highly technical fully waterproof incredibly warm down jacket that’s capable of dealing with the harshest weather anywhere in the world they’re available in-store and online now so check them out thanks.

Hi I’m ben and I’m on our technical. Design team here at outdoor research and I’m going to tell you about our interstellar jacket for spring 18 for him and her this is our pinnacle piece this is the go-to in the alpine it’s a. Three layer membrane so you’ve got a shell fabric you’ve got the membrane that keeps everything waterproof and then a backer to make sure it stays protected for a long period of time it. Uses our ascent shell membrane which in this package is our lightest and most breathable fabric that we have it also has stretch so you don’t have to worry about your fabric binding while you’re moving in the alpine we use dynamic reach panels for our patterning so you. Have full range of motion while you’re climbing you can get that full extension with your arm and you don’t have to worry about it come out of your harness which is a great feature to have we also used a helmet compatible hood so. You can fit it on over your helmet and it’s fully adjustable with integrated cord locks so you don’t have to worry about hiking with the helmet that’s too big and you’re getting it blown off we. Used villain center front zipper it’s waterproof so it’s nice and easy to use so if you need to ventilate really quickly you can just unzip that and don’t have to worry about fiddling with some of those stickier zippers we used. Other waterproof zippers on our hand. Pockets and chest pocket that are exposed so you don’t have to worry about dealing with those flaps like other rain shells our bottom hem has an elastic. Draw cord in it so you can tighten it down and get a nice snug fit if you need a little bit of extra weather protection or keep some of that heat in and out. Cuffs are adjustable as well to fit over a glove and tighten it down so you don’t. Have to worry about that in our left-hand pocket packs in so all the jacket. Packs and a left-hand pocket turn it inside out zip it closed and has a carabiner and loop on it clip it on the back of your harness for those alpine fast and light missions this is the interstellar jacket for spring 18.

  • So the shirt I’m wearing is the mountain hardwear chiller long sleeve shirt and. This shirt is part of a larger product line up that mountain hardwear has using. A technology they call cool q0 and what. That means is they’ve taken the fabric, and they have put a cooling agent on the. Inside of it that goes next to your skin so that when you sweat it cools you off. And I’ll see if i can let you see the. Little blue circles on the fabric and. That’s what it basically looks like this. Shirt is eighty-six percent polyester it’s fourteen percent you last so. It’s very stretchy it’s very comfortable. It’s soft supple shirt weighs nine. Ounces 255 grams it’s very quick drying. Very pack able i acted up and unpacked it. Several times while i was out testing it i washed a thing in the creek wrung it. Out by hand put it back on in about 20. Minutes it was completely dry there’s. Several features that the shirt has and one of the ones that i like the best is. The caller it’s made so that you can flip the collar up and I’ll show you. Can flip the caller up like this and then it has an additional caller. Extension. So if you want to protect the back of your neck from getting sunburned you can flip the collar up and you can wear it that way that comes in very handy at. Times especially when you’re so unlike me you have short hair the shirt as well. Has venting panels underneath the arm. Right here that run all the way up to about the elbow all the way through the. Underarm and all the way down the side to right here and it’s just kind of. Little panel with a bunch of little holes if you can see there’s one. On either side right there now some. Of the other fishing shirts that i have like the columbia sportswear fishing. Shirts there vince it in the back they have a back flap you know with a little mesh back there underneath the flap those are great for fishing not so great. For backpacking because your backpack covers that vent up okay its shirt like. This is much better for backpacking because it will vent through the sides much more comfortable okay the shirt. Also has a side zip pocket right here. Pretty good size pocket it’s about 4 by 8 inches you get a snack in their Kempis. Oh gee i don’t know a bunch of things you could put in their map maybe if you folded it up pretty good would go in there and the zipper works really good and smooth okay they’ve sewn it on in a. Was that it doesn’t have a bunch of. Saggy material around it that can get caught up in the zipper okay nobody. Likes that now on the inside in the same. Place if i unbutton the shirt right here. There is another pocket it’s just a top-loading pocket right here that you. Can put stuff in again snacks oh i don’t. No pair of glasses i don’t know what. Ipod anything like that you want to. Carry. The buttons are easy to work the. Buttonholes fit the buttons really well they’re nice and tight and the buttons actually are flexible i don’t know if you can see that or not but these buttons been there they got a lot of flex to them they’re not hard and brutal. Now i really would have rather had one. Pocket on this side and one pocket on. This side on the inside is fine but i. Really wouldn’t want both pockets on the same side but that’s the way they made the shirt so i guess I’ll have to live with that also would have rather had. Lapel buttons right here because i think. That the caller just looks a little bit sloppy like that it’s not bad I’m just. One of those people i kind of like lapel. Buttons or maybe even a little velcro tab right there to hold those and that’s something that i might add in the future we’ll just have to see and the other. Feature on this or the sleeves you’ve. Probably noticed i have one sleeve down and one sleeve rolled up right the shirt. Is made with a roll up sleeve tab right. Here that has a snap on it now it’s. Important that you know it has a snap because snap is much easier work with one hand than a button okay so you just. Roll the sleeve up like that and then. You’ll find this little tab hanging out. From the bottom of the sleeve and you just grab that tab and you stick it. Right through this little loop in the shirt like that and you just fold it. Over and you button it well if i get. Then lined up you button it up there you go you snap it rather but you snap it together and there you go and then at any time of course you can unsnap it and roll the shirt back down the cuff has one button i think i would have rather had to another one right here but this is you know that’s adequate now. Well this is a medium and i usually wear a medium shirt but this one is a full. Cut and a lot of shirts like this that. Are designed to be used in the outdoors whether you’re you know fly fishing or. Something like that have a full cut and this makes the shirt more comfortable it gives you a greater range of movement see your father’s fly fishing you know i. Have great range of movement nothing’s binding nothing’s tight sure it’s very. Comfortable the hem on the bottom of this shirt i probably can’t get it in the camera frame but to him on the bottom of this shirt is just straight across it’s not tailored to be tucked in so this shirt can be worn out and it looks fine that way which is usually the way i wear a shirt when it’s hot outside you just get better ventilation without. It being tucked in you know so this. Is the mountain hardwear chiller a long. Sleeve shirt you can find more detail. About this shirt and the written part of my review thanks for watching.

Hi it’s greg from get out their gear reviews and I’m wearing the men’s integral pro long sleeve tee from mountain hardwear if your anything like me you probably have more race shirts and you could ever wear and most of them are probably textured so what’s. The appeal the sure like this wow i find. That most race shirts have a limited lifetime and are typically made for warmer temperatures this shirt is designed for warren fit contains wool yeah you heard me right wool i don’t. Think I’ve ever owned a wool sweater let alone a little running shirt so i was eager to test this one out to be accurate it’s a proprietary material called wick cool which is a blend of polypropylene and what’s described as. Sustainably sourced merino wool my first thought was that wool would not make for a comfortable shirt however it is very. Comfortable and really is quite soft it actually wears like a comfortable cotton shirt so that’s a check mark for general comfort and I’ve yet to get it snagging. It like i do it just put all my textures so that’s a check for durability it also performs well out on a run and cool weather the blend of wolves warmth and the wicking and drying of a textured make for a very functional shirt which i really enjoy wearing for me it feels. That whole my running kit where it’s too cool for a t-shirt but i know if i wear a running jacket I’ll be too warm it’s. About minus five degrees Celsius right now or 23 Fahrenheit and too warm for me. To wear a jacket oh and a rhyming you might have a different temperature point but you also probably have this dilemma. Between shirt and jacket this morning i was out for a 17 kilometer I’m and light. Winds and with just a light layer underneath i found this shirt get me nice and warm I’m wearing a large which. Is my typical shirt size and it fits well with generous sleeve lengths if you’ve seen other reviews I’ve done you know that’s a very important criterion for me and my long arms so another check. Mark for overall fit and the sizing chart on the mountain hardwear website i will point out however that it has simple cuffs without thumb holes which. Is something you might find in some other cold weather garments although it contains wool this shirt is machine washable and washes very well I’ve washed it at least six or eight times. And it is held up nicely I’ll also point out the stitching which is quite substantial and speaks to a well-made shirt and makes for a distinctive look and i like the high-neck which you can zip up when it’s particularly cold and you can see there’s a small cover for the zipper to prevent chafing and irritation to sum it up the men’s integral pro long sleeve tee is a very good cold weather shirt it’s comfortable like cotton it has the warmth of wool. And aware’s and washes very well I’m craig forget out their gear reviews be sure to subscribe to our channel and check out our other reviews on products suitable for intern sports outdoor recreation and adventure.

T-shirt that is generally not made of cotton just because cotton is not a performance fabric and doesn’t dry quickly it also just doesn’t have that great form fit and performance that you’re looking for. That you get with synthetic materials so. The first step in the trio is the. Outdoor research igniter this tech. T is probably the most comfortable of. The three I’m going to review in this video they call this a heathered. Material I’m not quite sure really what. Heathered means but to me it just means that it’s soft so this is an all synthetic but this one feels the most. Like cotton so if you’re looking for the. Most comfortable t-shirt i would go with. The igniter it also happens to be the most trim fit so all three of these are. Mediums and four for this medium. This is definitely the most trim fit it’s the tightest and the arms and in the armpits so it just depends on what. You’re looking for as far as fit but. This is the trim stuv the three and this is the most comfortable so if you’re doing maybe an activity that isn’t the. Most high output or you don’t need the. The Highest performance as far as wicking properties breath ability quick drying if. You’re just looking for something a little bit more like a t-shirt but still has performance properties of a tec. Teeth look at the outdoor research igniter. Okay this is the echo from outdoor. Research the echo is by far the lightest. This shirt is unbelievable just. Because it really feels like you’re wearing nothing so when i want to. Do something that i almost don’t want to wear a shirt but i just want to wear a shirt maybe for abrasion protection with. A pack or if it’s super hot out and i. Don’t want to get sunburned I’ll throw on a shirt this is the one I’m gonna look for because this is just the absolute lightest of the three that I’m. Reviewing today again the echo that this. Has kind of dual colorway a nice light. Blue with this high visibility yellow so this would be a great option for a running shirt as well especially just so you can be seen on the road as. Far as fit i would say this is actually. Probably the loosest or the largest of. The cuts it’s definitely looser in the sleeves. And it’s a little bit baggy er in the. Waist so it just has that loose airy feeling to it really feels like you’re wearing nothing this is a this is also a great piece like i said this is the one. I’m gonna go for it when i don’t really want to wear a shirt but i either have to wear a shirt or i just want some sort of protection that a shirt offers I’m gonna look at the echo again super high. Performance and this pattern this. Fabric pattern its kind of square. Crosshatch pattern very high performance. Again these are all quick-drying very. Breathable so yeah this is another great. Option again the lightest okay guys this. Is the last shirt in the trip today this is the outdoor research gage now the gage in my opinion is the highest performing shirt of the three this. Fabric is like magic it’s super breathable it dries amazingly. Quick i think the fit is probably in. My opinion it’s probably the best it kind of combines between the igniter and the echo kind of in-between fit so not. So tight that it’s tight in the arms and. Tighten the armpits but it’s also not baggy in the waist. Either so i think this is the probably the best fit as far as performance is concerned and this fabric. Is also probably the highest performance as far as far as breath ability quick-drying just overall this is what you think of. When you think of a high performance tech tee now it’s not the most comfortable and. It’s not the most lightweight so you’re gonna have to strike that balance between what do you want it to feel like on your skin kind of that on the skin feel also are you willing to sacrifice. Just a little bit of weight it just has a little bit of a heavier weight not as. Much as an airy feel as the echo but i. Think the strikes are good balance and this is the highest performing of. The three it also has the most detail as. Kind of the exposed stitching has kind. Of a pretty cool design may be more of a runners look in the back not so much like an outdoor sports like rock. Climbing or mountain bike look it has more of a runners look but this is. A great one super high performance if I’m going to be doing a high output activity or something like. Climbing in a gym that’s general a little warmer than the outside I’ll go for this one just because it. Dries so fast and it’s probably the. The Highest performance in my opinion overall all three shirts are great now. My only gripe with all three is that. They run really large for me i like tech. Tees to be slim fit i don’t want them to. Be big and bulky like a traditional just street wear or street cotton t-shirt i. Want them to be form fit because for me performance is number one when it comes to this style t-shirt so i had to size all of these down everything I’ve ever reviewed for outdoor research all the tops the jackets the shirts they’ve all been larges all three of these that i. Reviewed in this video are all mediums i originally got the largest, and they were way too big so if you want something a. Little higher performance and you like the trim fit that you kind of see on me in these videos be sure to size down one you normally would get in a typical t-shirt so that’s my only gripe is the. Fit be sure to size down but other than that all three are great different applications we’re looking for comfort lightweight or high performance i think that they pretty much have the whole the. Whole range covered with all three of these tees and with that this has been another rock on the lake video be sure to check out the blog rock caramel ace comm for more thanks for watching.

  • Why man she kills knobs and watches baby. And this is about the doc my momma. Mountain hardwear man wasn’t there you. Know mountain hardwear my cuz we gotta. Have out there mountain hardwear logo in it man and these are the ghost whisperer. Jackets now what they are they’re. Lightweight down jackets by lightweight. You wouldn’t believe me if i told you how light they are i know i’ve done. Videos on them before but this is a one. Year later update on the two non hooded. Jackets that we have this black one and. Then this green one now this one’s mine. Of course the black ones means guns knives and watches and i really like the green but. When i purchased these these things list. For $300 apiece for the non hooded and. Three hundred and fifty dollars a piece for the hood hood in my real-world. Estimation unless you’re going for a. Fashion statement that you’re just going to wear to school or something or da-da-da-da-da or to non there’s no need. In paying $350 you can buy these things. On closeout all the time from a hundred and thirty dollars for the non hooded. And about 140 to 150 dollars so i would. Go in somewhere in that price range a hundred and thirty to a hundred and fifty dollars apiece now you may not get. The the color you want you may not get. The size that you want but that’s just. The way it is i’ll give you an example of that you know i i didn’t my first. Inclination was not to purchase this and bright green jacket even though i really. Do like it now i would have much rather. Had something that’s a little more subdued like this one but for the price. I think i got this for a hundred and thirty dollars it’s really great of. Course these are down lightweight insulated layers can be exterior layers the one thing about this down is is treated with something that they’re marketing as cue. Shield right there and what that does is. That gives the down the ability to get. Wet and everything’s better when it’s. Wet maybe it really is things don’t get. Interesting till it starts raining you’re not training less it’s raining that’s just the way it works. So these hold some of their ability to. Have warmth even when wet when. Traditional that untreated down isn’t and that’s really the basis of my. Judging the honest to god value of these these items because there is a lot of. Sewing into in it each stitch there’s. Not a lot of treated down in it and if you can notice through this orange. Because it’s more of a translucent. Orange you can see some of the darker. Feathers possibly on camera showing. Through now let me see if i can make. That work probably not anyway it doesn’t matter but like i said missus guns. Knives and watch it’s got a small in this where she would normally wear an extra small it’s a little long in the sleeves but for the price you couldn’t couldn’t beat it and then of course i got this more whatever type of green. That it is but if i was gonna buy one my. Recommendation is that you go with the hood because there’s such a small. Difference between the cost of the two and people hike use these to hike the appalachian trail they use them out on hiking and they use them all kinds of different things and i carry believe it. Or not i carry a backpack all the time when i wear mine and there’s no real. Wear marks now this is a micro rip stop. And i can’t really show you that on. Camera because it seems is or maybe i. Can there’s a micro rip stop pattern. Man i don’t know that’s showing everyone. And it’s a very very high thread-count. Fabric which gives it the ability number. One your feathers aren’t going to poke through which in a lesser thread count of course they would and also you get. Basically a strength factor similar to. Silk okay where you don’t have you don’t. Have the big thread like you’re doing like kevlar or like no matte nomex or. Any of that other kind of crap no max it. For fire rating but spec tara whatever. You know you you get the gist of the idea so i would say these are really. Good codes highly recommend them via our favorites they’re extremely lightweight they’re extremely packable everything packs up in its own little pocket you can see. It’s got a double zipper on it and it. Just goes in relatively easy without. Much fuss without much this that or the other and just gonna eat your shelf. Liner but that’s basically what you’re. Left with and i’ll even go through the. Effort of zipping it even though i have. Found that with these compressible coats. And things like this you really need to. Pull the zipper together to zip it or. Else you basically wind up putting too much force on the zipper itself that’s. Pretty self-explanatory this isn’t rocket science or anything like that and. Me hugging a tripod right now anything exactly probably the best setup in the world. But let’s see if i can do it on camera it’s not real till it’s on film right. Anyway about size of my hand of course i. Got rather large size hands but it’s just the way it is well what else can i. Say. Told you the pricing told you this there or the other course at 300 and 350 and. If you’re going to use these things you’re whacked out of your gourd but. That you know they’re dumb people born. Every day this guy’s knives and watches and have a. Good one buy things when people don’t. Want them don’t buy them when they’re in high demand you know by last year’s. Color buy whatever just do it correctly one thing that i have noticed between. The generations of these two and. Probably i pulled the wrong one out the older ones had elastic on the edge elastic if it’s really good quality kind. Of a problem with the newer ones. Don’t they have a just a basic wear. Strip there which has very little flecks. In it i don’t know how that’s going to. Actually which one’s going to wear out first or give up its ghost first but. These are wearing well this gots knives. And watches peace out.

I am wearing the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket. This ultra lightweight piece weighs in at just eight ounces. It utilizes water resistant down insulation to give you all weather performance whether. You are wearing this as a cool weather outer wear piece or as part of a colder weather. Layering system. Let’s take a closer look at its fit and features. The jacket is insulated with 800 fill q shield, water resistant down. So like you would expect from down insulation, extremely lightweight, extremely compressible. And a really strong warmth to weight ratio. However, over the years down has proven to lose its ability to keep you warm if it should. Become wet or damp. With the water resistant treatment to this down, you don’t have to worry about that. Nearly as much. It stays dry longer. Should it become wet, it still retains its ability to keep you warm. A really, really nice treatment to that down insulation. That said, it is worth pointing out that there is not a lot of insulation in this jacket. That is by design. It is an ultra lightweight layering piece. Again, you can certainly wear it as a standalone piece, but in cool weather as opposed. To cold weather. You do have narrow baffles that helps to keep the insulation where it should be so it doesn’t. Migrate and it also helps to bolster the warmth that this jacket is able to deliver. The exterior shell fabric on this jacket… keep in mind, we are talking about an ultra. Lightweight piece. So you have got a 70 by 10 d nylon rip stop. It is surprisingly strong and abrasion resistant, but still, we are talking about an ultra light. Weight design. So keep that in mind if you are weighing durability versus performance. That low profile design makes this, again, a great layering piece. You are not going to get a lot of layers underneath this, base layers, certainly. If it is a mid layer, you have got to be extremely low profile. There is a certain expectation that you are likely to put something either even warmer. Over top of it or a more weather resistant, weather proof hard shell jacket. There are elastic cuffs, an interesting treatment on the interior here that keeps those cuffs. In place. a single point of adjust ability on the hem to cinch the fit in there. It is a hooded jacket. No real adjust ability there. Just elastic that runs around the face that gives that a nice, trim, comfortable fit. In keeping with that streamlined design, you only have two pockets on the jacket, zippered. Pockets here on the front. Not much to speak of as far as the lining, but you do have that insulation over the top. Of the hands, so they are warm pockets. The right pocket here also serves as a stow pocket. Put the jacket inside there and show you just how small and compact this jacket is when. Put inside that pocket. You see just how small and compact the jacket is when stuffed inside that right-hand pocket. There is an attachment point here if you want to lash it to the outside of a pack or a harness. At this size i think it is perfect for actually throwing it inside the pack or the top lid. Pocket on a back pack. So you have got that ultra light warmth handy when you need it. The mountain hardwear men’s ghost whisperer hooded down jacket weighs in at just eight. Ounces. It has got that water resistant down, perfect for cool weather activities or as a key part. Of your cold weather layering system.

Hi this is craig geology with review of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket for pro like here calm i would put this jacket up against. The patagonia ultralight down hoody but. I like this jacket better for the following reasons number one it’s lighter weight and number two it uses a more intelligent or a higher performance. Baffle design than the ultralight down hoody from patagonia and it’s got a what. I feel is a better design around the. Neck area for a hooded jacket let’s tell you a little bit about this jacket comes in 7.9 ounces or 223. Grams I’m wearing a size medium the size. Large was cut a little big for me it’s filled with two point eight ounces of 850 fill power q shields a hydrophobic. Down q shield is similar to the sierra. Designs dry down they’ve talked about earlier it’s where they take each individual plume, and they treat the. Plume with a dwr durable water repellent. To make it hydrophobic so that the balloon or the plume can withstand the. Presence of moisture and not collapse you know down works by when it’s inside a baffle it’s the loft or the. Springiness of those individual down plumes that create the dead air space inside these baffles i haven’t played. Around a lot with the q shield so i look. Forward to testing that out a little bit more in the future and kind of validating just how well it works and. Some other things about this jacket it’s using their whisper or fabric which is a seven janiero by changing your fabric it’s a really lightweight fabric and. It’s kind of just a really nice hand — it’s very compressible the baffle design this is using about a 1.4 inch. One point three six inches sized baffle so. A good baffle it’s a uniform baffle. Versus some of the other products up here that are using these variegated. Baffle designs the draw cord it’s a very. Small draw cord in the waist but it does have a draw cord for the waste it’s a hidden draw cord it does have two. Zippered pockets on it. And what i like about this jacket is when you zip it all the way up it. Creates a nice tight fit around the neck helps seal off that neck area, and we. Noticed that when we’re looking at these jackets underneath the ar with the flir thermal imaging camera that this jacket. The hooded jacket sometimes when you zip them all the way up they still leave a bit of room around the neck and you can. See that the heat escaping through the neck on hooded jacket, so they all work. Pretty well once you put the hood up it’s when you just have them fully zipped up with the hood down that we can tell a difference so i really like this and it just uses a standard kind of. Stretch binding in the cuff but it’s a. Little bit loose fitting that’s the only thing i might say about this jacket is the cuff could fit a little bit. Tighter so that wraps up the review of. The mountain hardwear ghost whisperer. Down hooded jacket it’s a jacket that i. Really like it works well as a layering. Piece for a mid layer but also you can wear this standalone as an exterior piece as well just a great jacket for. $350 from mountain hardwear thank you for watching our videos thank you for subscribing to our channel and stay tuned to this channel for more videos in the future.

Hey guys this is peter of gig ago calm. And today I’m out here in the. Post-christmas winter scenery it’s great. To get out that’s the very first thing to notice get your butt off the couch. Get out into this fabulous winter. Landscape today i will go into hooded. Jackets in three ways first my thought. Why i have one and not a non hooded. Jacket a second very short and. Completely incomplete view into head. Adjustment and why it’s important and third by modification for idi that could. Not be adjusted before namely the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket okay let’s. Start number one many hikers before non. Hooded jackets and instead have a. Balaclava or other kind of head instead. That’s just personal preference if you. Think that it’s more flexible to have a. Balaclava to use with your quilt that’s. Okay for me hooded jacket is perfect. Because if it’s warm enough that i don’t. Need my hooded jacket inside of my kilt. A buff that i usually carry is almost. Enough for my head in the night and if. It’s so cold that i need to wear my. Hooded jacket inside of the kilt to. Boost my temperature range where the. Head is almost in place and that’s the. Second question if you are wearing. Glasses like me or even if you don’t wear glasses adjusting a hat is a necessity as you. Can see that way this head is nearly. Unusual for me and you can’t blame octoroks this is an accurate record for. For cutting having a bad cut no it’s. Intended use as you can see you can. Easily fit a helmet under it and if you’re a climber or change between climbing and hiking you definitely need. This right hem compatible cut so that’s. Not a question of a bad cut it’s just a question of how do you cope with all these material if you don’t wear a helmet and just want to have a warm head. And it’s definitely inappropriate to. Walk around mountain scenery like this. So and the way manufacturers deal with. This is head adjustment for example this jacket a shock cord in the neck. And this short cord runs through the. Sides and inside an inner seam that is. Here and by that you can adjust this. Jacket sorry can adjust it to a perfect. Fit have it a bit more loose or bit wider as you like it and it’s perfectly. For if you’re wearing glasses or if you. Just want to have your head wind shielded and warm but this is obviously. Additional weight around 80 centimeters. Or a meter of record it has a channel to. We soon in here and other ways to deal. With this is like this hedge here is a. Piece of velcro a piece of velcro that. Is on the head and this will that tie. Back the head a velcro isn’t a good. Solution if it’s standalone you always. Need ties to narrow down the face area. Another disadvantage of vectra is that. The super ultra light materials like 10. D or 70 nylon get damaged by the micro. Hooks of the workflow so where crew isn’t the best solution for that kind of adjustment. And third some manufacturers don’t even. Do any head adjustment on their jackets. For example this mountain hardwear ghost. Whisperer hooded racquet is completely. Without head adjustment so if you’re wearing a helmet this head is fine and it’s made for it’s made for climbers. As a super ultra lightweight down jacket. It’s wrong i love this jacket i carried. It through the mountains of europe it’s. A great piece of gear and it’s probably one of the most worn puffy jackets on. The pct however it doesn’t have head. Adjustment and that means. That you can’t see anything if you’re. Moving around with this jacket and this head it’s and if the wind blows it will blow it off your face so you need. Adjustment what to do with a head. Adjustment of such a jacket it’s a great jacket but i missed head adjustment the. First question is if you’re not going to sue in some narrowings here and if. You’re born a half your glass is free you need to tear this back right like. You’ve seen on the actor x jacket before on the blue one and second is you should. Do this in your neck you can do it on the upper side or you can do it on the. Lower side and that’s definitely a difference because if you do it on the lower side it will get narrow here and. Draw this back and if you draw this back. Here this will put tension on your. Glasses and this pressure here on these. Pairings here that’s somewhat annoying. So it’s good not to put tension on the. Lower part on the neck if you’re trying to adjust this head so my recommendation. Is adjust it more on the upper side this. Will draw the tension up here and from. The adjustment point it will have a. Tension that over here and back here and you see this jacket is fine in that way. The question now is how do i make this. And here’s my solution. Those hooded jackets have almost the. Same kind of cut in the head it’s a wide. Rectangular stretch in the center and. The side parts and there’s already a. Seam here so you can just apply anything. You do on that seam and i used here a. Bra pocket and these little buggers. Consists of two hooks clip it together. And as you can see now the jacket is my. Face is fully clear my glasses don’t. Interfere with the hood and even if i. Have to change between my helmet and. With the outer helmet i just can clip. This off with one hand tear this off put. My helmet on put the jacket on again and. The same way vice versa remove the. Helmet put so check it on now i do need. In fact two hands but i can easily clip. It in the back of my head every woman. Manages on her back so why shouldn’t i. And that it’s very easy and you only. Problem is how do you get access to brass buckle well there are three. Options first you go into a underwear. Shop for a woman and ask for it but not. Every man is used to that kind of shopping and i fully understand that. Second option you have a girlfriend or. You’re married and get access to her bra. In some way and hurt you are already a. Girl a woman and do have a bride can. Just cut off the buckle that’s the most the easiest way to get it i do have a hinge. If you wanted to use that kind of. Bugger the pockets are designed to lock in a. Reshaped form the for movie. Slide it into each other and then push. It straight and it’s locked so on your. On the back of your head if it would be. Like that on the back of your head it could be opened just by your the form of. Your head so make sure that you see on. The buckle in a way that then it opens to your head and not to the other side. You see the back is being closed here. And if it presses it to my head. It gets open that is because if you are. Lying in your hooded jacket in your. Quilt for example you could accidentally open it by turning around the hook could. Damage your air mattress or just the. Hood could fall off your head while you’re turning while sleeping and you. Want to avoid this so my recommendation. Is use it in the way that it opens to. Your head and not to the other side. So far on hooded jackets and my little. Modification of the ghost whisperer hooded jacket for a mountain hardwear. Last but not least don’t forget get your. Gear and get out.

Here I’m holding the mountain hardwear woman’s ghost whisperer hooded down. Jacket you can see how small this packs down it’s actually packed down into a. Snow pocket with the lightweight fabrics. And 850 fill down this jacket weighs in. At just under eight ounces makes it a great option for backpacking or climbing. When you need something that packs really small and it’s super lightweight this jacket is filled with high-quality. 850 full q shield down and q shield down. Is just a treatment that’s applied to each of the down feathers that gives it high performance in damp conditions so. Unlike traditional down this jacket is gonna have the pack ability you know the. Lightweight feature of regular down. Without sacrificing its performance in damp conditions the features of this. Jacket are really simple you have a single elastic draw cord around the hem. Two hand warmer pockets there’s a storm. Flap behind the main zipper to hold in. Heat a very simple lycra cuff and the. Some around the hood I’d say the fit of. This jacket is definitely a little bit trim i normally wear a small and most. Outerwear pieces and other brands and this is a medium and it seems to fit me pretty well i can definitely get some layers underneath of this and if i want to wear a shell over top it doesn’t seem. Too bulky which makes it a great layering piece for milder conditions this would. Definitely be a good outerwear piece and in colder conditions you would want to wear shell over top all in all the ghost. Whisperer jacket is your go-to. Ultralight down jacket. You.

All guys wanted to do a quick review. Of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket this is an 800 full power. 800 fill power down with the 7 denier. Fabric and it has the q shield which. Means that every down plume or the down. Was treated with a dwr coating to. Protect it from some of the weaknesses of down which is moisture there is. Footage at the end of this video that I’ll include where i wash the jacket and. How you could see the look looms you. No clumping when wet and i put it in the dryer with four. Tennis balls tumble dry low for about 60. Minutes i guess you could do it a little. Shorter but i like to do it on low heat not to damage the fabric and end it down. As much as i can i will be adding you. No down safe detergent to my cleaning. Supplies whatever you want to call that. For all my down coats now i wound up purchasing this jacket. Because i felt that the cerium lt was. Just a little bit warm for my daily use here in new york city this jacket is. Great down to freezing and up to the. Mid-40s you don’t overheat with this as much as. The cerium lt and then app when it goes. Up and we have days when it’s 35 in the. Morning and it’s 55 by the afternoon it’s light enough eight and a half. Ounces was easier for me to. Psychologically carry in my backpack than an 11 ounce serum lt so I’ve owned. This piece since march 2017 did not. Really get a full we use out of this during 2017 bought it. When it was on sale, and we had a couple of cold days before spring had really. Arrived and was able to use it towards. The end of 2017 winter in march so i was. Really upset to see that earlier this. Winter without even a full seasons use. That the stitching was coming off so you. Could see here this was on the right sleeve right by the elbow and then as well. Now after washing it i also noticed that. There’s more stitching coming off right. Above that so it could be a quality. Control issue i have the former or. Previous version of this which is the. Yellow one i featured in one of my videos and that jacket does not show any. Signs of wear and I’ve used it i guess. Pretty close to you know i guess it’s. More of a handful of times in comparison to this but more than 1020. Times for sure the color is a bit hard. To use outside of back country use but i. Did use it for at least two seasons but. Not every day like this jacket now. Mountain hardwear has a limited or has a. Lifetime warranty but they’re going to. Require you to ship it back to the. Manufacturer other thing is if you. Attempt to fix this yourself or pay. Someone to fix it voids that warranty. So i found out that paragon sports here. In new york city mails back to the. Manufacturer so I’m actually bringing this to paragon sports today. And this is maybe the last chance i get. To review this actual jacket because. Either they repair it or they send you a. New jacket so i wanted to show you guys. The defects before i ship it back to the. Manufacturer so rei also does that for. Their customers anyway don’t want to. Dwell too much on this in terms of. Performance it’s very warm for its. Weight and the face fabric which is. Super thin has held up really well you. No i wear a backpack every day and you. Do not see any signs of wear on the. Shoulders the floor even though it. Doesn’t have an adjustment fits pretty. Well except on really windy days so. There’s also no signs of wear for. Abrasion where the backpack is so if it. Were not for the stitching coming off i. Think for the most part the materials. Used are very durable I’ve had no issues. With the zipper and you’ve got a pretty. Nice zipper garage up there. And this is a ykk i believe this is a. Ykk vislon zipper which is better than. The zipper on the cerium lt as far as. Most reviews are concerned these do not. Get stuck or snag as much as the i think. Coil zippers are they that’s what they call them just put some comments below if i butchered that anyway I’m just gonna. Show you guys how the jacket fits so you. Don’t have to go to my last video and. That’s about it weighs eight and a half. Ounces I’m gonna pause and put it in its. Stuff sack that way you guys have a. Reference for packed size and weight so. Here is the ghost whisperer down hoody. Right next to a 1 liter nalgene just for. Size comparison it does not compact as. Small as its previous iteration which. Was the 850 fill power down that had a. Smaller pocket a big advantage is that. The larger pocket makes it easier to stuff the jacket in there and also you. Just have more space for more things in. Your pockets the jacket weighs in at. Ain’t 8.4 ounces so it’s very light you. Can still compress this smaller. If you are one of those people that. Brings compression sacks but i have no. Problem with the size of this jacket in. Terms of its compressed or packed size usually I’ll actually just roll the. Jacket and stuff it into its own hood and then throw that thing in my backpack so i don’t even use this still pocket. That much anyway I’ll be showing you. Guys to fit up the jacket and then I’ll. Be heading to aragon sports today and. Sort of saying goodbye to this jacket not sure if they’re gonna be shipping. The same jacket back to me or if they’re. Just going to replace it hopefully they. Will be able to repair this jacket i do. Like the color and I’m a big fan of the. Ghost whisperer despite some of the. Damages that this jacket has incurred i. Still, have my old version and that thing. Still going strong just not a big fan of. The color which is yellow so alright. Moving on to the next part of the video. Which is the fit so i just wanted to. Show you guys the fit of mountain harbor. Ghost whisperer without having to refer. To other videos I’m 5 foot 8 currently. Weighing in between 193 195 pounds right. Now i wear size large and pretty much. All outdoor jackets and you know regular. Clothing so the fit of the jacket is. Pretty basic its athletic a little bit. Roomier around the torso then the. Arc’teryx serum lt or cerium sl and. For those who haven’t seen that video you could look at the cerium sl hoody. First impressions review and comparison video now there is no hood adjustment. But the hood it’s pretty well collar. Comes up pretty you know pretty high. Right under the chin but still pretty. Comfortable the sleeves are nice and. Long even though I’m a fairly short guy. I have a 72-inch reach so the arms are. Long enough even though i have to put. Then over my head the one thing that i. Do miss with this jacket is the. Articulation of that sort of that sort. Of a diamond looking piece that arc’teryx has for articulation on their. Pieces which is not present here but the. Jacket is roomy enough and mobile enough. It’s a little shiny a little crinkly. This piece though i found that the seven. Didn’t ear fabric on the ghost whisperer. Is noticeably wind proof or more wind. Proof than the cerium sl hoody which is. Why i would choose this over this area. Msl hoodie $350. Eight and a half ounces and a lifetime. Warranty granted not the most convenient. Lifetime warranty which is all about. Patagonia for all of you people out there who want that best warranty as far. As i know how to go nia has the best warranty there is for outdoor gear really cool feature there just one hand. Drawstring action we release that draw cord as well. And you just pull with one hand to seal. In the air the hand pockets are also set. Above your hips or right by the hips. Technically speaking but it’s very easy. Just to bring that up and have your hip. Belt right under the pocket so you can. Still access items in your pockets. Anyway that’s about this it for this. Jacket and I’ll let you guys know in an. Update video later on once i receive. Either this jacket back repaired or a. New jacket or maybe a gift card however. They deal with it that’s one thing that. I will start reviewing on my channel is also the return process or warranty of. These items and i lost some video on. Some shoes hiking shoes that i returned. From vasc but I’ll be doing a lot more. Shoe and footwear reviews this coming. Year so stay tuned for those thank you. Very much for watching please like share and subscribe and I’ll see you next time. So after seasons used i mean after a. Seasons use here’s the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer just popped it in the. Washing machine I’m about to dry it. It’s interesting how looks almost like a. Windshield and some of the parts where the downs just compressed i kind of wish. That this was the color of the jacket it’s actually the lining or the backing. Just that nice dark loose anyway. Just taking some footage and I’ll show. You guys once the jackets nice and puffy using. Tennis balls to get the down to fluff. Back up just adding some video to the. Long term review of the hooded version of the ghost whisperer this is the 850. 800 fill and the face fabric has been. Really good but some of the stitching. Started to break off on this particular jacket I’m not sure how many reports. They get you know in terms of quality. Control but i see that this particular. Piece some of the stitching was coming. Off so I’ll be bringing this back to the retailer which is paragon sports and. Mounting hardware has a pretty decent. Policy at least it shows you know you can mail it back to them they’re going to take a look at it either repair or replace it just make sure that you don’t have the jacket prepared by yourself or. Somebody else because that does point the lifetime. So anyway I’ll be going to the top of. This little guy very windy 37 degrees. But with the windchill feels like 22. I’ve got a little zip top under this and. It’s holding up pretty well anyway that’s it for now and I’ll be showing. Updates and how do you guys know us well now that warranty is i think that should. Be part of the product reviews from now. On at least on my end it will be how easy is it to contact their customer service and how good they are at you. No basically standing behind their product all right so it’s really windy. Gonna have to set this down for now.

Adam here forget out their magazine today i am bringing you a comparative review of two down-filled jackets by mountain hardwear Over here we have the ghost whisperer down hooded jacket and on this side we have the stretch down rs hooded jacket let’s break down what it’s similar first. At first glance you think that these may be the same jacket both uses similar fabric the rs is slightly thicker fabric in the whisper but both are extremely thin and feel like they could rip easily. But let me tell you they’re surprisingly durable after extensive use i have yet. To fiber rip and either of these jackets now each has a drawstring waist and each. Has similar down fill and provides. Similar warmth 750 down fill for the rs. And 800 for the whisper both have mountain hardwear’s q shield down which is treated to be water repellent however both jackets soak throughout their two hours in a wet snowfall finally both. Have down-filled hoods which do not have draw strings, but they do stay on tight even in high winds and that’s really where the similarities end the whisper has an active fit which is. Really tight to the body where the rs of the performance fit which is more room through the waist shoulders and arms for reference I’m five-eleven 185 pounds in both jackets are size medium the whisper. Is the world’s lightest down hooded jacket well at least that’s what the mountain hardwear website says so don’t quote me on that but it is extremely light it only weighs in at 7.7 ounces. Where the rs is also very light but it’s. Almost double the weight at fourteen point nine ounces to keep the weight down the whisper has a minimalistic design and only two zippered hand pockets while the rs has two zippered. Hand pockets a zippered chest pocket in the internal mesh pockets the cuffs are. Both very different drs has a traditional small outer elastic while the whisper has a unique design with the down fill all the way to the end of the sleeve and it has a hidden elastic inside the cuff to keep it in place surprisingly i found this was much better to keep the cuff in place during activity than the rs cuff a neat feature of the ghost whisperer is its ability to be stored away in its own pocket it folds up to the size of a large water bottle which makes it super convenient on days when the temperature or your activity level maven the rs is a version of mountain hardwear’s new stretch down line and to. Be honest i didn’t find there to be much stretch in this fabric however i did find it to be pretty comfortable at the end of the day i found the stretch down rs jacket to be great for leisure activities like walking the dog and hiking as well as general wear around town i also have had many compliments on. The style of this jacket on the other hand the ghost whisperer jacket has not had any compliments for the look and that may be due to the color but it is a way better choice for someone who’s looking for a down-filled jacket to be active in i have found this also to be. Useful as a mid layer under a hard shell jacket because of its nugget let it sit from the outside these jackets are very similar however depending on your use they are quite distinct so hopefully this video helped clarify that for you know if you’d like more information on either of these two jackets or any other mountain hardwear products please visit their website listed in the description below You.

The fabric is an organic cotton plain weave. It’s light, soft and stretchy, yet durable enough to withstand climbing’s daily abuses: knee bars, hip scums, and down climbs. The waist features a unique adjustable button closure. For a customized fit. The zip fly and low-profile belt loops are comfortable all day under a harness. The front hand pockets have a breathable mesh liner, . Which i find to be perfect — not too deep, not too shallow. The pockets also have bar tacks, which double as a coin catch and toothbrush holder. The two rear pockets create a reinforced seat, . For added durability as well as style. The right thigh pocket is ideally located for easy access. The pants have darted knees and a gusseted crotch. My name is corey and I’m gonna patagonian this is the finger pen why it is so wonderful is both material and the. Construction also a few little design tidbits so it’s 98% organic cotton 2% spandex so. It gives it that feel of denim and that durability of teta the little extra stretch in there for comfort has articulated knees and articulated cross great for movement all around we did. Really easy drop-in pockets that are had ventilated mesh at the bottom so. Readability and dry times are great especially in the warm dry weather we’ve. Got one horizontal pocket here helps we’ll see a few things and similar. Drop-in pockets in a gap the coolest thing about the waistband feature we’ve got something called the opposite fit so what that is an adjust ability right here in the waistband so embedded here in the front section if you pull this tab while the pants are on cinch is. About another inch within the waistband keeps the pan nice and tight when you’re ready for some loose fit right after here. Open the pan this button here sits. Relatively flat so it’s harness friendly. Doesn’t get in your way and won’t move. While it’s on the climb if you’re not a fan of the opposite so can we still have really nice webbing belt loops here and. Or a white woman’s elf look that is coming around January they’re gonna be on our spring 15 seasons obviously we’re not afraid of the bright colors this season, but we will have a more muted tone as well it should be. Great in hot dry and durable campus.

I’m wearing the patagonia women’s vengo rock pants these are built specifically. For climbers who need a lot of range of. Motion need a lot of stretch and breath ability in the pants but also need. Something that’s very durable and that’s going to last a long time so the Vega rock pants have a really. Good mixture of all of those things they’re made out of an organic cotton. Weave so they’re really soft, and they’re. Really comfortable, but they have just enough stretch so you have about 2%. Elastic stretch in there to give all of. That flexibility that you need they have specific features that are great for climbing they’ve got articulated knees they’ve. Got darts in the knees so they’re almost. Kind of pre bent the way that they’re made so you have a lot of range of. Motion they’re not going to hold you back at all, but they still have a really good fit you’ve also got a gusseted. Crotch so you have a range of motion there but there’s also a lot of durability going through the features they’re really simple the waistline is. Really comfortable it comes up a little. But higher and it’s really comfortable if you’re wearing it with a harness or if you’re wearing a harness over top you’ve just got a zippered fly and a. Really convenient button there and you. Have a little bit of adjust ability there on the top you have really flat belt. Loops so that makes it really comfortable if you want to wear a belt with them you can but if you’re wearing a harness those belt loops aren’t gonna get in the way you have always open pockets in the front and there’s actually a little coin catch in the back that’s also a great. Spot for a climbing toothbrush and then. You have always open pockets in the back those pockets are big enough that they actually add a little bit of durability to the seat there so it makes the pants a little bit more durable and then you. Do have another pocket on the side here the pocket has a little button closure. So you can put things in there and keep them safe the fit and feel of these. Pants are spot-on to what i would from patagonia I’m wearing a size six. Right now, and they fit me really well that fit in the waist is tight enough that they feel like they’re gonna stay where they are they’re not gonna fall down at all but then you have a lot of. Space in through the leg in through the. Knee space to move, and then they do taper in a little bit towards the bottom so you don’t have a lot of extra fabric down there towards your shoes they’re. Extremely comfortable breathable they’re. Very soft material, but they’re going to be durable over the long haul they’re the patagonia women’s Vega rock pants.

built for the crag but great for all. Sorts of adventures these are our men’s Vega rock pants made with soft and. Breathable organic cotton blend with polyester for durability and spandex for stretch they move with you comfortably through drop knees and high steps a durable water repellent finish helps to. Shed moisture the oppo set adjustable. Waste and belt loops let you customize the fit just hold the button while pulling the webbing tail to tighten things up high angle drop-in pockets. Hang on to your belongings while you’re climbing there are breathable mesh pocket bags lie flat under harness and stay comfortable when you run out a right thigh patch pocket secures small valuables and the seat is reinforced. With another layer of fabric for added durability for freedom of movement bengis have a gusseted crotch darted. Nice and articulated legs pull hard but. Move easy and our men’s banga rock pants.

built for rock climbing our women’s ham pi rock pants keep you cool and protected when it’s hot and you’re poised for the send we make them with the lightweight yet surprisingly durable 53% hemp 44 percent recycled polyester 3.
