Hi this is tyler with trail for two and today I’m going to be doing a quick review on the patagonia Houdini wind. Shirt so I’ve actually had this jacket for a little while now but i wanted to give it a good test out in the field and. Really make sure that the information i was giving you and my reviews and opinions were based on actual field experience and not just my initial thoughts of it after opening it from the. Package that i ever seemed it in so as. You see here it is quite a small package on just only a couple inches tall by need four or five inches long here this. Is actually stuffed into its own chest pocket so this is the extent of the. Pocket you see here to that there’s a. Little tab if you wanted to attach it to a pack with a carabiner by some other. Method so it is pretty compact nice. Little package here i know that a few other wind shirts the pocket is larger. So when you stuff it into it doesn’t come back down into such a small space. And it’s kind of freely moving around i. Will say that it is a little bit of a wrestling match to try to get it in here. And it is a little bit tricky to close. It up i have found though that if you. Unzip the zipper first it makes it. Slightly easier to get it in but it is. Still, a little bit rough to squeeze it. In here so before we get started I’ll go. Ahead and weigh it so you have a feel. For what we’re looking at so according. To my scale here i have a man’s size. Small and it weighs three point four. Nine ounces so it is a pretty lightweight option it is a very thin. Material it’s by no means the lightest. Wind shirt that there is out there and but it’s also not the heaviest there are. Quite a few that are heavier than this but i would say that it does kind of fall into the mid-range as far as weight goes, so we’ll go ahead and take a look at it so open it up. Like i said this is the chest pocket. And that is the one and only pocket so. That might be a drawback for you if you’re looking for some storage space this jacket definitely does not have it. It is very minimalistic has very few. Features which is partly why i like it. It’s very simple so here as you see it. Is a full length zipper which is nice. You don’t have to pull it on over your head but it is a full length zipper just. Kind of interesting to that it’s not light even with the full length zipper so on a couple different features that i. Want to talk about here first of all start with on the cuff so if you take a. Look at the cuff the top is just a normal stitch but underneath about half. Of the wrist is elastic so I’d know if. They did that to cut down on weight or whatever but it’s kind of nice because the top will stay flat to your wrist and. So if there is any water or anything that rolls off or beans off it’s not dealing with you know this wrinkled. Material but it does stay pretty flat to. Your wrist and then also if you’re needing to pull. Up your sleeves at all that elastic on the bottom really keeps a snug fit and. Again on that top part is very flat. Against your arm so any moisture can run. Off if you needed to pull up your sleeve like that and it does a nice job it stays pretty secure pretty snug so. That’s one feature that’s kind of nice. Having that available so taking a look at the jacket here like i said it is a full length zipper this is a man’s size. Small like i said so if you take a look. It does zip up pretty high that’s. Actually a feature that i really like it really keeps you warm and it really does. What its name says it is a wind shirt and it does job of keeping out the wind and keeping. You really warm so that added height to. The zipper really encloses everything so. That’s pretty nice and again like i said the chest pocket is really only about this big right here so that’s not very. Substantial again there are not any side. Pockets here but that’s something you. May want to think about so the really. The selling point that pushed me in the. Direction of this jacket was the fit of. The hood and it’s cinch capabilities so. There are other jackets out there that have these you know hoods that are. Able to cinch down but i did quite a bit of research before and i went to. Different stores try them all on went online looked at different reviews. Watched youtube videos and it all came. Down to really me liking the features of. This jacket the best I’ll go ahead and. Show you the hood it is a pretty snug. Fit to begin with which is pretty nice even with it not zipped up all the way. You know it conforms to your head and. Stays on it’s a really nice fit and when. You zip this up all the way really the only thing exposed is just your face. Right here so in those conditions where it is windy or even if you get caught in a light rain and that’s something that is really nice to have also there is in. The back here if you can see it there’s. A little pull tab that you’re able to cinch you down the hood even further so. If you cinch that down really it’s basically cinches right here. All the way back and so it’s really just. Kind of brings it all in right on your. Head and really conforms to your head and that’s part of the reason i like this too is that there are other jackets out there where the hood is not very movable meaning that when you move your head that kind of stays in the forward direction in your head moves sideways but this does a really nice job. Of keeping with your head so if you’re. Really active running or doing anything. Like that this does a really nice job of keeping. Up with that so primarily i use this. Jacket up in the mountains and I’m hiking and when i go out on lakes flag. Fishing up in the mountains even if it’s. A sunny day and it’s pretty warm the wind can get pretty chilly and so this is something nice to have to take out on. The water with me also just to provide that extra layer of protection it. Actually is a really good layer of sun. Protection also sometimes even if it’s. Warm while i was throw this on to have that action that extra layer just because it is so thin in fact you can. Probably see through the material here. It is very thin you can see my hand behind it but um it is very lightweight. Which is a good thing it lives up to its. Name of a wind shirt and if you throw on. Another layer under this shirt it really does an extra nice job of insulating you. From the elements i have worn this in a. Light rain and it did a really nice job the water beated up rolled right off i. Had no problem i wasn’t wet or clammy underneath it all but i definitely would. Not recommend substituting this jacket. For a real rain jacket if you were to. Come upon any real rain conditions but. If you know you get caught in between some weather unexpected weather this is. Definitely a good item to have with you even if you’re just going on a day hike or not really expecting any sort of weather this is a great option to have so i definitely recommend the patagonia. Houdini if you’re looking into a lightweight wind shirt and it doesn’t have a lot of features as far as storage goes but what kind of pushed me. In the direction of this jacket was its. Capability here with the hood and the. Of the hood so something else to that. I’ll do is I’ll I’ll wear a hat and then put the hood over it and that cinching capability really helps to snug it all. In on your head I’m also same kind of idea of the wrist. Being flat on the front and then it’s cinching in the back or having the. Elastic on the back half on the front of. Your jacket here so the front there’s not any elastic here at all but there is. A shock cord here that runs from. Basically here all the way around the back to this side so it cinches in the. Back and keeps the front flat so that’s. Something nice too is you don’t get this awkward bunched jacket in the front but. Pretty much everything in the front stays flat and conforms to your body so. That’s something that’s nice too so definitely look at the patagonia Houdini. If it’s something you’re looking into our highly recommend. Oh.

Everybody jonathan gimme calm here and I’m just gonna bring to light on my favorite piece is a kit it’s a classic and always comes with me and it’s actually in my pocket right now it is the patagonia Houdini jacket gets name. Houdini because it can get into pretty tight spaces and it packs into his own chest pocket it’s just a wind jacket. Nothing special but man oh man is this. Thing get used it has a dwr coat coating. On it so it will you know shed some rain. Or snow but it’s no means waterproof. Although there is a waterproof version and it’s just a very simple wind jacket. Here’s a chest pocket right here this whole jack will easily stuff into that there’s a little loop on here so you put onto a carabiner on your harness or a backpack this is an extra large it fits. Me very well and last esaias cusp which. Is always nice just a nice basic hood. Very thin fabric slight bit mechanical. Stretch to it for how thin it is of. Course I’m always concerned about how durable will be after two seasons of use lots of use I’ve only had a patch up one. Little hole right here some tenacious tape just super easy to do so comes in. Put it non hooded and even a pullover an. Rack style and there is a waterproof version as well we’ll have links on all those below this is the patagonia eenie jacket there it is. Hopefully found it helpful and essential. Kit in our in garment arsenal sean Sullivan calm take care.

Okay guys welcome to another video in today’s video I’m going to give you a. Four year three-year review on this. Awesome jacket this jacket is made by. Outdoor research and it’s called the furrow c jacket I’ve had this jacket. Like i said i don’t know exactly when i got it i got it in like the spring four. Years ago maybe and I’ve worn this. Is probably my most used most abused. Most useful jacket you can say so this. Is a soft shell a true soft shell so what. It is its an uninsulated windbreaker. With stretch that’s pretty much what it is it’s not waterproof which is a good. Think and I’ll explain in a second real. Quick it has it doesn’t have an over use. Of pockets, it has a pocket right here. And a pocket here and a pocket here. Pretty simple i don’t like jackets with. Like pockets here here and here because all that zipper and all that extra fabric it’s like if I’m not going to use a pockets why are they there so a. Real quick one talk about sizing I’m about six foot two i have a chest. Measurement maybe like 47 48 and this is. A 2x i think it’s the biggest size they make and it fits me really well the. Sleeves are a little long which i like because when i raise my hand as you can see they don’t ride way up it. Fits me i don’t even say snug but not. Loose it fits me perfect it allows me to wear you know a t-shirt and a hoodie. Maybe a fleece underneath this on top. And at the same time i can layer on top. And it does have drawstring at the bottom. Here which i never use just not a fan of it but if you want it you can cinch this. Up and kind of puff it up so you have a way of dead air to give it insulation. Now this jacket in and of itself doesn’t. Isn’t like insulative it doesn’t really have insulation in the form of like. Puffy dead air space like it’s not wool. It’s not please it’s not primaloft it’s not down so in that regard it’s not that. Warm but what this does is it blocks out. A lot of wind which wind is especially. In cold weather but almost in any weather more for me at least more than. Temperature the wind is what can really. Get you because you can have all the insulation in the world but it winds just coming in and blowing all that heat. Out from around your body you’re going cold the fabric i don’t know the exact. Weight of it’s not super thick it’s a. 4 ounce nylon i would say when you buy. This actually this is an older version, so they’ve updated it a couple times but. Everything wanna say about this jacket I’m confident in saying that the newer versions are just as good if not better. When you get it out of box it will feel. Very chintzy it’ll feel very light it’ll. Feel very weak ok and when i first got. This i got it on sale mail-order so i. Didn’t have a chance to try it on during the feel of fabric and when i first got. It oh i would say i was disappointed i was surprised at how lightweight it was. But let me tell you I’ve put this. Through first off this isn’t a work. Jacket with that being said I’ve worn it. As a work jacket I’ve done countless home repair. Projects countless you know outdoor jobs. Countless camping trips countless hiking. Trips fishing trips you name it and this. Has been there and it’s not showing any. Signs of we’re to the point of I’m kind. Of getting a little concerned because how could a fabric this thin this light. Just be so durable now is it possible. You could snag this and tear it i. Actually see no i had that concern. Because that’s why i don’t like lightweight fabrics because at least what i do branches and stuff getting caught on it and tearing it but this. Because it has that stretch and it’s a. Smooth fabric that isn’t doesn’t have a. Lot of snag points on it I’ve snagged. This before sort of and it just rubs off. Now i was before the video i was inspecting this jacket to see if there are any points of where and there’s some. Staining oil stains sap stains tar. Stains maybe some dirt stains so overall. This thing I’m going to coin it as. Apocalypse proof now that gone through the apocalypse with this but i would be totally more than confident to go. Through the apocalypse with this would be a great companion especially. For if you’d need to debug out or if. Some big long-term event happened and you needed to do work outside this thing. Is kind of protective layer like it. Protects your skin think of it as. Like a work glove but at the same time it offers wind protection now i want to. Talk about waterproof so this in a gore-tex this isn’t waterproof and it’s not claimed to be waterproof it’s claimed to be water resistant now i have. Found this is not water resistant whatsoever when i first got it actually maybe a little bit maybe it had a teflon. Coating there a uh yeah teflon i think. Through sustaining to resist water but this will readily. Soak water okay so I’m not claiming this. Is a lot of proof um this has gone through a wash i don’t fifty times or something like that so whatever water proofing was on here is washed off so it’s not. Waterproof and it will readily absorb water and then also because it’s not. That swishing material it’s kind of. Rougher material kind of canvas type. Material water wool won’t as. Easily run off of this but the main so. If I’m working outside in the rain I’ve. Tried gore-tex like gore-tex rain jacket and you just build up so much heat from. Working that you end up letting out from. Your sweat so I’ve made that sacrifice. It’s like you can either wet up from your sweat or you can wet out from water from the rain now working in this why. I’m calling this a piece of like work wear is because i can do anything and i can pretty much wear this in all seasons and not be uncomfortable but i can be. Doing whatever and because the fit because the sleeves aren’t super baggy. It’s not getting in the way how i tend to wear this actually is i. Pull the sleeves up and me personally if. I was designing like any work soft shell it actually gets a t-shirt variety because whenever I’m doing like actual work i have the sleeves pulled up so one. Think and maybe the neighbor versions have this probably not one thing I’d like to see is one of those buttons here like on a plaid button-up so you could. Roll it up and button it so you could. Take it on and off and the sleeves stay up now one thing i do like though which. Kind of goes against that is it doesn’t have buttons it doesn’t have zippers it doesn’t have like velcro around the. Sleeves especially in the wintertime. Velcro would just collect snow so i like. How clean the cuffs are moving to the. Lane another reason i like this is. Because it fits me well it’s not super. Baggy it fits me well but it’s long now. Then again the newer versions this is. Like a 2012-2013 design the newer. Versions might be cut different keep that in mind but the reason i like this one specifically is its long length so. It’s not overly long as you can see you. Now it goes maybe eight inches past my. Waist well it does not have pit zips the. Newer versions might with that being. Said with this type of fabric with this type of jacket i never found the need for pit zips because sometimes i wear this with a t-shirt and a problem i found with jackets with pit zips if you only have a t-shirt or tank top underneath is that zipper wear is on the inside of your arm. And it can cause discomfort so maybe. That’s why they didn’t include offensive but frankly this breathes so well you. Don’t need a pizza what a pizza is real quick is its pretty much as if you’re opening by your armpits which is pretty much your main source of perspiration air where you’re going to be sweating from and what i found is I’ve worn. This in temperatures from 70 degrees. Eighty degrees when i need something. Maybe working around spruce trees and i don’t want my forearms irritated but. I’ve worn this in 70 degree whether it’s not uncomfortable it’s just a t-shirt underneath and then i also wear this. Hiking cold-weather hiking I’ll wear. This down to zero degrees with a puffy. Or with a hoodie underneath and the only. Reason wearing this again is to block from that windchill effect overall i. Don’t want this to be a longer view frankly i just want it to be straight to the point this jacket long story short if you’re looking for a soft shell jacket that’s lightweight compact our lightweight packs down. Really small is very comfortable in a wide range of weather and is super. Durable and also really easy to work in. And not cumbersome and a host of other. Reasons that i can’t think of off the top of my head this is the jacket for you this is a true soft shop i have had other soft-shells in the past that are really thick very stiff do you just feel. Awkward and they’re not that warm and. They don’t provide that much wind blocking ability no this doesn’t offer. The best wind block ability there’s a. There’s a fine line between berthe. Readability and wind proof so if you. Have something 100% wind resistant it’s not going to agree that well if you have something 100 shot waterproof it’s not going to breathe whatsoever so this is a. You sacrifice a little wind blocking capabilities for a very breathable. Jacket so yeah long story short they. Have newer versions out and i would feel. Confident in recommending those even though i haven’t tried them I’m also going to leave with a link to get his tactical he has liked one at least one maybe two videos talking about this exact jacket and i pretty much can echo. Everything he said this is like my go-to. Jacket for a lot of stuff again it’s not. Insulated it’s not a like winter jacket. But it’s a nice layering piece and very. Comfortable it fits very well for all you found this helpful useful if you. Have any questions about this leave it in the comments below if you like this video give it a big thumbs up and like always go back to home page we’ll watch through my current videos if you like what you see feel free to subscribe we’ll catch you on the next video.

Outdoor research

Hello and welcome to another rock climbing life video i am your host jeff safford today I’m reviewing one of my favorite climbing pants the outdoor research for oc pants ok today I’m. Reviewing the outdoor research / oç pants I’ve talked a lot about the first he pants on my in my videos i reviewed. The 3/4 length pants and also the jacket but today I’m reviewing the pants and the first thing i want to say before i. Review these pants is that i am extremely picky with climbing pants i. Would say out of all the articles of clothing for like technical wear or. Outdoor wear I’m I’m probably the most. Picky about climbing pants it’s because. I want them to be you know almost feel. Like they’re not even there i want them to be breathable and light i don’t want. Then to restrict my hip motion i-i’ve. Pretty long legs and I’m about 6 1 so i. You know anytime a high step i don’t. Want to have like thick pants that restrict any motion at all i want them to be breathable and not be too. Hot to wear but at the same time I’m only wearing pants when it’s a little bit cold out in the morning or windy out during the day so i also want them to protect my lower legs from the elements. And keep me warm so as you can tell like. The list is pretty long for what i require out of a climbing pant and the. The pants that actually accomplish that list are pretty small but the fur oc. Pants from outdoor research is one. Make and model that actually meets all. Of my requirements for a climbing pant so i like to have talked about before in. My previous videos about the furrows ease this material is really great it’s. It’s lightweight its breathable its wind. Resistant and it’s slightly watered resistant as well so it’s just a great. Stretchy material kind of has these magic properties it’s its really fantastic but these pants.they are just. There’s their form-fitting, but they’re not too tight and, and they move myth. With me very well so you know like i. Said I’m super picky about pants but i think that these are our win so. Different from my other reviews i had. Only had the pants for a few months well these are not super old but I’ve had those other articles there’s other. Foressi items for quite some time so i can talk about the durability of the. Foressi material and i can tell you that it’s super durable now it may not look. Durable b and the reason is that when. You wear them for an extended period of time or they encounter lots of abrasion against the rock they kind of fray and. Pill kind of like a worn sweatshirt or a. Warm fleece, so they kind of have that pilling action, and they don’t look as. Smooth as when they’re brand-new when they’re brand-new they look super smooth, but they start to fray with wear however. They’ve never ripped on me and the. 3/4 length pant that I’ve had i believe for a couple years now the thighs. Are pretty worn looking however they’ve never ripped I’ve actually cut my leg or. Like above my knee and actually been bleeding underneath the pant but the pants have never ripped so the material is super adorable and has like a rip stop cape property but even though they. Look like they’re worn so don’t be fooled you know if you’re if you’re froz pants or your jacket start to look a little bit worn there they’re not going. To rip on you and i don’t think they’re going to fail so that’ll occur about after a season of use they’ll start to look that way, but they’re gonna keep on going for you but. Other parts of this pant that i really like i really like this thigh pocket this is great for a cellphone it’s kind of taped or seamed on there so. It’s its really low profile you don’t. Even feel that it’s there you don’t know that it’s there just has a small zipper so that’s that’s a great feature that the back of the. Pant has a zipper pocket on the right rear and you know either. It’s gusseted allows free-range of motion and then also unlike their other 3/4. Length pants these have a drawstring closure, and they’re really. Well designed the little buckle that. Keeps the elastic drawstring is actually. Hidden kind of like in this little pocket underneath here so it doesn’t rub against your leg it doesn’t you know. Kind of bother your leg at all and it’s kind of just tucked out of the way but. Other than that these are really great pants like i said I’m super picky about. Pants I’ve only found a couple on the market from different climbing manufacturers that meet my specs you. Now they don’t absorb water i really. Like them a lot but the only downside i. See with the fur oc pants specifically. You know the full-length pant these are a regular length now owe our makes a. Short length but they don’t make a long. And i really think that they need to make a long again I’m six one, so they’re. Just cut a little bit too short from my liking i would prefer if they made a long you know and help dial us tall guys. They already make it short so if you’re shorter go with the short if you’re tall. Or you know regular height go with the regular but hopefully they make a long. Pant length in the near future and. Another thing with the waist as far as the fit i think the hips fit well at first they feel a little bit tight in. The hip, but they seem to almost come just they just stretch with you and move with you so really great properties of the material inside of the waist has. Like a fleece or a chamois material so. They won’t slide if you’re wearing you. No like under armour or like boxer shorts underneath they won’t kind of slide down they’ll stay in place and at the same time wick. A little bit of sweat as well so overall. Give the frosty pants a try they’ve made. My shortlist and i think that if you give them a try you’ll like them as well and with that this has been another rock member like be sure to check out the blog rock-climber life.com for more thanks for watching.

hello and welcome to another rock climber early video I am your host Jeff Safra we’re out here at the beautiful New River Gorge and today I get the privilege of reviewing the outdoor

Designed for cooler weather backpacking snowshoeing ski touring or alpine. Conditions the outdoor research men’s. Cirque pants are a great soft shell pant. For when mobility is necessary in the back country let’s take a look at all of their features these pants are constructed with a durable double weave. Softshell fabric that gives it really nice stretch really nice mobility to the. Whole system and it’s very comfortable it’s got a polyester backing so it lays. Really nicely against the skin or layers. Well if you’re using a lightweight base layer underneath it does have a brushed. Nylon face fabric so that’s really good at helping to shed that snow that mud or. That precipitation in the event that it starts to rain on you they are a highly. Water-resistant pant, but they’re not completely waterproof so keep that in mind when picking up the cirque pants. But they have a really nice feel and a very comfortable fit all while being very stretchy to offer great mobility so. Really nice fit and feel to the cirque. Pants some features that the cirque. Pants offer are a button and zippered. Fly with a kind of elastic adjustment on. The waistband so you can actually cinch the fit down if you need to, and they’re also belted loops so you can use a belt if you choose to do so there we’ve also got two and two front. Suspender loops with a rear suspender loop so you can attach accessory suspenders if you choose to they do not come with the pants they are sold separately when it comes to pockets we’ve got two front zippered pockets one. Back zippered pocket and 1 YYY. On the right side so you’ve got some. Different areas to stow away some gear and you can zip them up to make sure that it stays secure when you’re moving around in the outdoors so some nice. Features going on there we do have a nice gusseted crotch and articulated knees so you’ve got really good mobility. And of somewhat more loose fit in those. Areas and in combination with that soft shell fabric you just get all-around good from the pants all the way down toward. The cuff region we’ve got a reinforced. Nylon ankle guard so you’ve got a really. Mice protected material there it’s gonna add some really good durability in that. Section you’ve got a couple other nice features down in the foot area such as a. Bootlace tab so you can actually attach these directly to the boot laces so that they don’t ride up or create any. Unnecessary or unwanted gapping so almost like you would find in a gator. These guys have that lace clip there that lace hook to really cinch it down you’ve got some other nice things going. On the underside like a tab for an. Instep lace and again they’re just really nicely designed they work well with gaiters if you choose to but are gonna give you really good water resistance and weather resistance if you just want to wear them by themselves these pants have a fairly snug or. Athletic fit they’re not super tight but. They’re not regular loose fit pants they. Give you more of that athletic feel you know stand low profile so you could. Layer under them with a light or a mid weight base layer, but they are meant to be a more active pant, so they give you that slightly more snug fit and it still. Feels nice you i don’t feel restricted in them at any point at any you know any. Movement is still easy you know because. Of that soft shell that double weave stretch fabric and you know all that mobility with the articulated knees and. The gusseted crotch so although they do have a more tailored fit they are still. A very mobile pant so a really nice feel. To the through the circle pants here so. There you have it with a light and durable soft shell material that provides good weather protection in those cooler temperatures the outdoor research men’s cirque pants option for. When you need to be mobile in the back country.

All right so I’m a 35 waist and i have. On the 32 of the convertible gorilla cps. From outdoor research this is what they. Look like all right it was like impossible for me to buy these all right. So basically these pants can be purchased one size smaller than what you would normally wear if you wear a 36 you can get the 34 if you wear a 34 you can get the 32 they’re stretchy pants and. The waistline is slightly stretchy i found that the waistline on the 36 in the thirty-fourth was very stretching and it had no belt or drawstring and if. You’re going convertible adding the belt. Kind of adds unnecessary weight the whole idea is to keep your pants out of. Your pack by having pants that convert into shorts now obviously that’s kind of. Nerdy but they call it a gear geek for a. Reason you know if your if when you put your pants in your pack the pack in. The pants add weight and bulk to your pack, and they also get wrecked if you. Keep your pants in your pack the whole entire summer you’re carrying around something that adds bulk and weight to your pack and your pack is bigger and heavier than it should be and at the end. Of the summer when you go to get your pants they’re wrecked they’re full of mildew etc so the idea with convertible. Pants is that you’re wearing shorts and you don’t have your pants in your pack you know if you carried board shorts and kept your pants in your pack yeah board shorts are awesome but having your pants. And your pack is wrong when you have convertible pants you still are wearing. Your pants you have them on you and you can put your ankles from the convertible pants you know you can stow those with. Your poncho or something else that you don’t usually use so when. You buy the pants a size smaller than normal like for instance these are a 32 instead of a 34 i don’t need a belt so i. Got rid of the belt and also the side pocket which holds your cell phone that. Has a tendency to hit doorways and furniture as you walk past them because the pants are usually too baggy these pants are not baggy they’re very straight legs and that prevents your iphone from hitting stuff as you walk by. Because you know like the little 4-inch iphone se it’s probably the best phone to bring traveling but it’s very fragile if it. Hits a doorway or a table as you walk by because it’s in your cargo pocket it’s. Broken more or less i mean it damages the phone and so having the hip pocket that cargo pocket close to the. Leg it prevents the phone from hitting. Stuff as you walk by which is a nice feature now i tried on the 36 furro c’s. Which were more like a 40 waist 4 oc pants i tried on the 34 which were more. Like a 37 and i tried on the 30s which i. Couldn’t they were too small i as well. Tried the 36 in the pro no stretch sian. Convertible pant which was like a very heavyweight a plastic form of denim it. Was like basically denim blue jeans that. Are very tougher for hunting and bushwhacking, but they were made out of plastic so that they dry quicker than cotton, and they were just too heavy. They’re 15 ounces i also tried on the outdoor research convertible pants which. Were uncomfortable they don’t stretch at all there are only four and a half ounces, so they’re half the weight of the other guys but you lose a lot of comfort. With weight with the mountain sorry I’m. Not sure if i said alpha research or mountain hardwear the mountain hardwear mesa convertible pants they’re half the. Weight of all the other convertible pants, but they’re not comfortable so if. You were to go 36 if you were to get the. Mountain hardwear 36 mesa convertible. Pants in order to make them more comfortable because they don’t stretch you would save a little bit of weight but the truth is that the outdoor research fer oc pants can be bought one. Size smaller so you can wear a 32 if you. Wear a 34 the 32 is actually out. Slightly lighter than the 34 so the. Amount of weight that you shave by using the mountain hardwear convertible pants. You can actually get that by going one size smaller with the furrow sees or something similar and I’ve been wearing the fro c’s for a day or two they’re very comfortable and very happy with them they’re very form fit you know yeah. They kind of fit kind of like a pair of boxers i mean they’re pretty tight pants, but they’re very breathable and stretchy and comfortable, and they fit perfect, so they’ve got plenty of pockets they’ve got two zippered pockets on the back which is important they’ve got a zippered cargo pocket they’ve got two pockets on the front now if you go small with these convertibles you’ll notice that the two front pockets are not really easy to get your hands into they’re a little form fit it’s a little bit tight but definitely usable I’m. Pretty happy with this i am also really interested in the Monticello convertible pants because they come with a belt you know they’re only 11 ounces and you can. Pull the belt close so you can get that if the 34 is or the thirty-six’s are slightly too big you can pull on that you can cinch the belt, and they come in. Cool colors but you know it’s another eighty bucks to spend and I’m pretty happy with the frosty’s that I’ve got. They’re their correct color and so i don’t know why i would buy another pair of convertible pants when i should be wearing these and just learning how to use the ones that I’ve got you know i think that these are gonna be my go to and i should just figured that figure. Out these 32 waist outdoor research 4 oc. Convertible pants.

Abrasion-resistant super stretchy lightweight and very comfortable the. Outdoor research 4 oc crag pants are a. Great pant for climbing or long days in. The mountains let’s take a look at their construction and their materials these pants are constructed with a really nice lightweight but abrasion resistant material and in the side panels and knees or areas where you’re gonna see some high wear specifically while climbing they do have a reinforced panel. So throughout the whole side panel here and all the way down to the knee of the pant we’ve got kind of that extra doubled up reinforced material for. Enhancement durability for the pants some features on these pants include two. Standard front pockets a nice stretchy mesh backed pockets, so they’ll enhance. Your breath ability in the pants as well in the back we just have one zippered. Pocket so there’s a secure pocket on the back side and one zippered thigh pocket. Here as well so good for storing those smaller items you may want to keep a little bit more easily accessible but also secure on the sides we’ve got each. Two stretchy little loops, and they’re designed for toothbrushes so if you’re out bouldering and you need to carry your brushes with you want to have them quick and easy to access we’ve got these two loops on the sides of the pants and in the back there’s a slightly larger loop where you can clip a chalk bag again if you’re out bouldering or doing any type of climbing so great little additions to the pants there. We do have adjustment at the ankles of. The pants so you can kind of pull them up to get out of the way of your climbing shoes and cinch them down, so they stay nice and snug there the fit of these pants is a fairly athletic fit so. They fit pretty trim we do have an. Internal draw cord so you can tie those off and keep them nice and tight if you need to and the waistband is a low profile waistband that is stretch knit, so we’ve got kind of areas in the waistband that are gonna conform to your body in your shape and move with you so it remains really comfortable so a really smart and thoughtful design in the waistband of the pants I’m wearing a. Medium here, and they do stretch to fit really nicely generally i wear two in the waist, and he’s fit really well and overall length isn’t an issue. Either and there you have it’s the outdoor research men’s furrow seek rag pants specifically designed for climbing. Whether your bouldering spending a long day at the crag or doing a multi-pitch route in the mountains these pants are durable abrasion resistant and stretchy. You.

  • This is the patagonia women’s nano air light hybrid vest and it’s perfect for. Those highly aerobic activities in chilly temperatures synthetic insulation. Mixed with panels of stretchy breathable. Material make it perfect for those shoulder seasons where your favorite. Base layer underneath of it for winter running or use it as part of a layering. System by putting a shell over top and a base layer underneath it’s so. Comfortable that it’ll become your go-to vest when you anticipate building up a. Sweat in chilly weather up front you. Have a 40 gram synthetic insulation that’s actually sandwiched in between a. Stretchy nylon rip stop shell on the. Outside and then the inside liner is actually a plain weave liner this. Material is constructed in such a way that when it becomes wet with sweat it. Doesn’t stick to the material of your shirt like some other common materials. In this category and then the shell material on the outside will actually. Shed a bit of moisture with a dwr coating when it does become wet this. Mixture of materials actually dries super fast to keep you warm and dry when. Your outdoors all day long now on the. Back and on the sides here you have a. Really airy wicking bubble knit material. This helps you manage all of that suit. On your back so whether you’re on a winter run or hiking with a backpack this is really nice to have all of that. Breeze also on the sides and under your arms. Where you really need it most now all the while on the front it helps your core stay warm so if you’re on a. Bike or hiking the front of you does. Stay warm if it’s really windy now the. Big difference i see with this synthetic. Vest compared to others on the market is just that mechanical stretch of all the. Different materials on the front you. Really have a stretchy material unlike. Some other shell materials that just. Aren’t stretchy at all so this isn’t going to inhibit your range of motion now you do have a full length zipper so. Easy on and off you don’t have to pull it over your head and then the pockets right here on the front have insulation. In front of them, so they’re great for chilly shannon’s the hem in the back is. Actually rounded so it gives you a little bit more coverage which is nice and then the collar on the front is. Really nice to just zip up protect your. Neck especially if it’s windy but because you have that zipper you can unzip it a little bit just to manage your temperature patagonia assumes that. You’ll be sweating in this vest so there’s even a permanent odor control treatment that’s applied to the materials it’s those little things that. Make a big difference the fit is incredible it should fit. Relatively close to your body so it can manage that moisture but it doesn’t feel constricting at all due to that stretch. If your someone who has struggled to. Find a vest that keeps you warm without. Overheating in those chilly temperatures. When you’re moving fast on the trail when you’re running when you’re biking or hiking and chilly temperatures definitely check out the women’s patagonia nano air light hybrid. This is the patagonia women’s nano air light hybrid jacket and it’s a lighter. Weight more breathable version of the. Award-winning nano air synthetic insulation mixed with panels of stretchy. Breathable material makes it perfect for. Those shoulder seasons where your favorite base layer underneath of it for winter running or layer over top of it. With a shell it’s so comfortable that it. Will become your new best friend for aerobic activities in chilly temperatures now up front you have a 40. Gram synthetic insulation that’s sandwiched in between a stretchy nylon. Rip stop shell and a plain weave liner. The liner material in here is actually. Constructed in such a way that when it becomes wet with sweat it doesn’t stick. To the base layer where your shirt like. Some other common materials in this category and then the shell material on the outside will actually shed a little bit of moisture with that bwr coating if. And when it becomes wet this mixture of materials dries super fast to keep you. Warm and dry when you’re out all day long now on the back and under the arms. There’s an airy wicking bubble knit material this helps you manage all of that excess heat so when you’re on a. Winter run or hiking with a backpack it’s really nice to have that breath ability on your back and under. Your arms where you really need it most and all the while the core on your front. Stays really warm now the big difference. I see was this jacket compared to a lot. Of other synthetic jackets on the market is the mechanical stretch of all the. Materials the sleeves on the front. Especially in the back and under your arms is really stretchy and you don’t. See that on a lot of jackets like this jacket is definitely not going to. Inhibit your range of motion now as far as features you have a full length zipper here on the front so it’s easy on. And off you don’t have to pull it over your head you have simple hand level pockets and. For chilly hands you have that insulation right on the front so that’s perfect you also have thumb holes to keep your hand warm so those two mixed together is. Really nice you don’t have any other pockets or zippers on the jacket but you. Do have a drop him so in the back you. Have plenty of coverage which is nice when you’re wearing a backpack or wearing a climbing harness on the top you just have a nice collar that collar. Really keeps your neck warm when it’s really windy but because you have a zip in the front you can really manage that temperature now patagonia assumes that. You’ll be sweating in this jacket so there’s even a permanent odor control treatment it’s the little things that really make a big difference now the fit here is incredible it should. Fit really close to your body so it can manage that moisture but it doesn’t feel. Constricting due to the stretchiness I’m. Wearing a medium right now and it’s actually a little big I’ve got a small here and the small. Actually fits a little bit better if i was going to just wear it over a base. Layer but if i was going to wear it as my outer layer i might go with medium if. You’ve struggled to find a jacket that. Keeps you warm without overheating and chilly temperatures while you’re doing highly aerobic activities look at the. Patagonia women’s nano air light hybrid. Jacket thanks for watching if you have. I’m wearing the women’s nano air light hybrid jacket by patagonia this is super. Cozy stretchy and warm for its weight. Climbers and ultralight backpackers will. Love this design because the back panel. Is ventilated for high output pursuits so you won’t overheat it is insulated. With patagonia’s proprietary full-range. Insulation and a 40 gram weight which. Means it’s lighter and even more breathable than the regular nano air. Full range is a synthetic fill that has. Mechanical stretch and unparalleled. Permeability it dries lightning fast so. When you stop to take a break you won’t freeze because any perspiration will. Have already dried the shell fabric is. Also stretchy and breathable its lightweight nylon ripstop with a durable. Water repellent coating and the lining. Is a plain weave fabric so it’s super. Soft against your skin with the. Insulation sandwiched in between these two fabrics you’re getting a high performance jacket that will keep you warm in chilly temps it’ll keep your. Body heat close but will dump. Excess heat so you don’t overheat even. When it’s really cold i still tend to sweat behind a back pack so the stretchy. Waffle net panels work perfectly with a. Backpack and this is versatile because it’s the perfect mid layer the low. Profile slim fit goes well under a shell. And in milder temps it can be your. Outer layer I’m wearing a size small right now and the fit is perfect the two. Hand pockets are high enough to access even with a harness or a backpack with a. Hip belts the low-profile cuffs with thumb holes slide right under a shell. And the hem is stretchy for mobility it’s comfortable warm for its weight and. Incredibly breathable it’s the women’s. How’s it going guys your old pal baba ganoush here again so i want to bring. You another gear review here today i want to talk about in fact the very jacket that I’m wearing right now the patagonia nano air light hybrid. Insulated jacket i know it’s a mouthful. But let’s go ahead and get on into it. So okay guys this is again the patagonia. Nano air light hybrid insulated jacket. Like i said i know it’s a mouthful but I’m gonna go ahead and talk about everything why i love it and give you guys the full details really why i chose this item and my. Experiences with it thus far so big reason why i got this i was looking for a new mid weight layer my north face. Thermoball has done a great job for me thus far but i needed something that was. A little bit lighter weight and also something maybe a little bit more versatile not completely insulated all. The way around so i do plan on adding. This to my through hiking gear for. Hiking the appalachian trail 2018 really. Looking forward to it and thus far on my one trip over thanksgiving it performed be ea. Beautifully so a couple quick things. It is a rip stop nylon it is a dwr. Coated rip stop so it does help with some of the water repellency it is not a waterproof jacket however it is a. Moisture wicking very breathable jacket so it will dry very quickly it is a. Synthetic insulation as well so even if. It does get a little bit damp a little bit wet at least i know it’s going to keep me dry regardless and as well i can. Just hang it up and air dry it out and it’ll be completely unaffected so a couple quick things that i really. Like about it number one full-length zipper goes all the way up to give you a. Nice little neck gaiter it is the hood less version i did that specifically because my down hoody is hood less already as well as one of my base layer. Shirts by odlo is also hooded with a. Balaclava type hood so i wanted something that was hood less so that so. That if i was wearing this during the day on a chilly day you know i could. Just do you know the ball and you know i could do my buff over the top or just a little beanie over top and at least allow for you know somebody heat to be released and control things a little bit more another thing that i really love about it is it’s specifically designed with the pockets a little bit taller up so as you can see i do have. Space down below we’re at the bottom of the pocket is they did that specifically. So for backpackers when you have your belt on your pockets are still. Accessible really good part on patagonia. Good looks on good-looking out on their part that’s always those subtle little things that really make the difference really good really key on their. Part it does of course have the thumb holes i really like that part so especially while hiking holding onto my. Trekking poles my sleeves are always gonna be extended it covers the back of. My hand just a little bit keeping them a little bit warmer or having my trekking poles as well I’m so really good. On their part another big reason why i purchased this product so okay as i said. This is the patagonian nano-air light hybrid they have a patagonia nano-air. Light already which is fully insulated. But this is the hybrid model and i want to show you guys why so first and foremost like i said it is a synthetic insulated jacket but it’s only. Insulators in key areas so your main. Torso area over the top and the back of. The shoulders and then over the top of your arms is going to be all that synthetic insulation really keeping your. Core warm the top of your extremities and the more exposed part of your extremities as well where your heat is typically released really nice however. In the parts where you typically perspire and for a way to really control. Your body temperature and to get more versatility out of the jacket they do give you a more ventilated fabric underneath your arms down your sides and. It stretches all the way around the back. So i really like that part number one of. Course like i said I’ll be putting this underneath my down jacket help me keep. Me nice and toasty warm but at least my back wall you know release some of my body heat and control my body temperature but the most important thing. I wanted this for was so for those chilly mornings those chilly days when. I have to hike a little bit with a jacket just to get my body temperature up enough to where i can disrobe a little bit this is something to wear it’s constantly going to keep my core. Warm and I’m moving forward so this is where I’m taking all the winds however. It’ll be releasing my body heat out the. Back a great way for me to you know help. Me control my body temperature a little bit so i don’t sweat in the cold temperatures but i still stay warm enough so this is the medium model it. Comes in at 10.65 ounces i weighed that. On my own kitchen scale comes in three. Colors black obviously comes in a green. And also a slate blue and it retails. Down at your local rei from $1.99 so. Really pretty decent price point only ten point six five ounces so essentially ten to half ounces really nice. And personal piece this enables me to. Get multiple uses out of it in multiple different fashions and still keep me warm enough to keep me safe enough as. Well as putting this underneath my down. Jacket it will give me that extra little edge for those really cold nights so for. Those of you who are looking for that new mid way insulated jacket i. Definitely recommend taking a look into this for those trail runners out there for those backpackers those hikers or even people who just are looking for another good just like spring jacket. That does them really well take a look it is a little bit of a narrow cut i will say even me for a medium but it. Fits really well I’m looking forward to. Test or putting this really through the ringer this worked great on my. Thanksgiving trip and so i decided to. Full-time add it to my pack system this will forever be in my pack system as long as i take care of it properly and i look forward to taking this on the entire appalachian trail so thank you. Guys so much i hope this helped you out a little bit if you’re looking for a new lightweight jacket yourself i know you’re gonna see me wearing this plenty of times in some future videos don’t. Forget to subscribe down below to keep up with all my future videos as well as the cover and follow me on all my through hike preparation hit the like. Button leave a comment or question for me down below don’t forget to check out my Instagram page the link is in the description talk to you guys real soon on the next adventure always a pleasure out.

Hey what’s up chris here with summer. Coming to clothes recently been in the market for a new lightweight jacket my current go to jacket that i absolutely love is the patagonia nano puff can’t. Say enough good things about this track you absolutely love it one of the main. Limitations though is that when it does get warmer you quickly get hot in this. Jacket so just like a breath ability really stands out when those temperatures do get a little bit warmer so one jacket i kept coming back to is the patagonia their nano air light. Hybrid hoody so wasn’t sure what to. Expect before i purchased this jacket because i just could never find it in a store to look at it I’ve actually looked. At the nano air jacket and really liked that jacket but it was so similar to the. Nano puff i just could not justify. Making that purchase because of the similarities between the two jackets so. Was really interested in looking at this jacket but another thing i can’t face. Him with this jacket was i just could not justify spending the money at the time so it found a really good price on. This jacket especially being the hoodie which i love having a hood on my jacket if at all possible but usually that’s gonna increase the price but failed it was necessary just to show this if you are in the market for number one a lot of weight jacket but this one in particular also if you are familiar with the nano. Air at all from patagonia this is gonna. Be very similar as far as some of the material but what’s unique about this jacket is the fact that it is so breathable so just looking at the jacket. Again the front here for the most part is gonna be insulated but turning this. Jacket around you’re gonna see very quickly that there’s gonna be some knitted top material on the back of the jacket under the arms of the jacket the. Armpits of the jacket and along the bottom of the sleeves here so a lot of those areas that you’re gonna sweat when you’re being active hiking going around. Town or wherever you might be so it’s. Gonna allow hopefully some of that warm. Air that you’re generating to come out of the jacket and keep you somewhat cool and whether that’s not. Totally cold so again what i was trying. To do is kind of find a good in-between. Between say an insulated jacket like the nano puff and that fleece jacket. That we’ve loved for so long the problem. I’ve always had with fleece is just that there’s so bulky and taking up a lot of space when you’re traveling again i like the fact that this is a really gonna be a jacket you can compress or compact. Down really small when you travel though this again in your pack or in a bag i like the fact it’s gonna be very breathable but also I’m hoping that this. Is gonna keep me warm when the weather does dip down or that temperature does dip down say in the evenings we’re at. Nighttime and you’re just out and about whether it’s again you know out in. Middle of nowhere or you know if you’re in the middle of a large city traveling and you just have this handy so it’s. Exactly what i was looking at but a couple things that did stand out that kind of surprised me when i pick this up and got it out of the box again it’s. Just it’s a really lightweight jacket i think it comes in around 10 ounces I’m. So very lightweight but one thing to. That kind of stands out and I’m really interested to see how this is gonna i guess perform when it gets cool is just how thin this back material is so again. I guess I’m kind of hesitant because I’m not sure how warm it’s gonna keep me but i know this isn’t a jacket for really cool weather and thankfully we live in the south so it’s not overall gonna be. Super cold even though we did have a really cold winter last year so. Hopefully i think this is gonna be a good early fall late spring top jacket. And get exactly what I’m looking for. Something when those temperatures do begin to drop that i have handy again if I’m out and about have it in a pack i can quickly grab this out or if I’m traveling again just to have this in my. Bag even if i don’t meet it again very. Lightweight and it’s not gonna take up a lot of space in your pack so again just wanted to show this and let you know again that this material is gonna feel very similar to that nano air top. Material real. Feels kind of stretchy i guess but again. What’s unique is just that the way that this feels and how thin i guess and maybe that’s not a good way to describe this that the material on the back and under the arms and armpits of the jacket is so again this is kind of first look at the jacket this is a large and i will. Throw this on real quick and i believe. This is gonna be more of an athletic fit. And to me it’s actually really comfortable so again I’m about five nine. And actually around 200 pounds and this. Jacket actually because it is a little stretchy fits me pretty well as i was concerned between this and say an extra-large i was afraid an extra-large might be way. Too big if it also comes with some i. Guess the thumb hole here that your. Thumb goes in again to help cover some of your hand and I’ve also read where a lot of people who run this is a good fit. For someone who’s a runner or if you’re. A climber and the weather’s not drip drop too low this is a jacket you could wear all day big and very. Comfortable i love the way this jacket feels and fits and again i love. The fact it has a hood. So yeah I’ve not had a chance to test this because it still is i think in the 90s outside currently so I’m really. Interested to test this over the winter and i will do an updated review on this i just wanted to do a first look at. First take on the jacket my first impressions because i did not know what to expect when i received this so if you do have any questions or comments feel. Free to ask or if you do own the jacket would love to hear your experience with this so again really looking forward to testing this jacket out so as always. Thank you so much for watching please like subscribe again please leave those. Comments would love to hear from you so again thank you so much.
