Today i’m going to do a review of my patagonia sweater hoody down sweater. Hoody so this features 800 fill which is. Completely filled from the hood all the way to the bottom to the edge has completely 800 fill down which pedagogic. Claims is 100% traceable ethically. Sourced so you can feel pretty good about buying it i’m looking at the outer shell as you can see it’s got a very. Nice matte finish the fabric itself. Feels quite strong it’s a 20 by 30 denier so it’s gonna be very durable last several years and as you can see on. The outside we have two pockets that can be zipped up and it’s got one more interior pocket inside one of the best things i like about this is it comes with a hood so really during those colder days in the winter it will keep really warm an apartment was having a hood you have one of these adjustments. So that if it does get really cold you can really strap that thing down and seal it a lot of the warmth so overall. This weighs 15 ounces so it’s not going. To be the lightest jacket down jacket out there but it will be a very warm one there’s gonna be very versatile and so i’m gonna try it on so you guys can see what it looks like just to give you idea of my dimensions i’m 5/8 i weigh just. Put it over like i mentioned before the zipper goes all the way up and hopefully you can still hear me and my voice so sound – muffled and you can pull the. Adjustment that i showed you in the back i’m really tighten that up so it really. Seals in all all this area so that no heat will escape from your head which is a really nice feature to have on a down jacket and so all in all this is why are we one of my favorite pieces like i said it’s versatile and the fact that you can layer up so if you will have a harder shell that you want to protect on the outside will add more. Weight protection even though this is quite one protect in itself but at the same time it has enough space on the inside that you probably wear some thicker layers underneath like a fleece of some kind or some longer t-shirts and. A layer of that would make it even warmer last thing i will note is this. Inner pocket where my favorite feature this is a it’s big enough my whole hand. Fits in here but you can also put the entire sweater in there and it will compress into about a nalgene sized area. Of space and all around i’d have to say. This is probably one like they were jackets and one of the ones i use the most throughout the winter not just autumn and spring months but actually use it in the winter and i live. In wisconsin so it does get quite cold but i’m on those extra cold days i do suggest layering it with an outer shell. Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of the ny gear review today we’re gonna be taking a look at the patagonia high lock down hooded jacket. Okay let’s jump right into some of the. Specs for this down jacket this jacket. Is coming in at 530 grams or 18.7 ounces. The shell is a 100% recycled polyester. Rip stop with a dwr finish and then the. Face fabric on this jacket is a 30 denier face fabric and then the lining. Is a 22 denier fabric this is a down. Insulated jacket it is 600 filled. Traceable duck down again I’ve touched. On this before in other videos but i really just admire what patagonia is. Doing with their initiative to make all their down insulated jackets filled with traceable down what that means is that none of the down is being sourced from birds that have been live plucked force-fed or killed in the process of. Sourcing this down we have two zippered hand warmer pockets on the exterior of the jacket a full length zipper with a. Zipper garage at the top to reduce chafing and irritation against the neck there is an internal zippered chest pocket that doubles as a stuff sack this. Jacket has a drop tail hem as well as an adjustable draw cord to customize the fit as well as seal in warmth we have. These nice low-profile elastic cups the. Sleeves on this jacket do have gusted underarms and what gusseted means is essentially that there’s an added piece of fabric to allow for extra mobility. And movement within the fit this as well. Allows for upper articulation without the jacket rising up above your waist okay so let’s talk about the fit for this jacket for me the fit on this. Jacket is pretty funky i am 6-3 185. Pounds and I’m wearing a size medium i. Found that the medium sizing for this jacket fits really well around the waist. I would say it fits perfectly around my. Waist however for the rest of my body it’s not the perfect fit so the. Just feel a little short for me as well as when i put on the hood it feels like sort of the jacket is being pulled up to. My head because i got a medium what this. Jacket doesn’t accommodate for at all essentially is layering i really can’t. Put on any additional clothing. Underneath without feeling restricted or sort of stuck in my mobility and then. For the application of this jacket so i really recommend this jacket as and around the town in the city sort of jacket i would not recommend it for high. Alpine climbing for hiking i did do three high peaks in the adirondacks wearing this jacket it was ok if you are. Looking for a jacket that performs well in those areas you know there are better jackets out there that are gonna be lighter more compressible and better suited for those activities with a little bit more freedom of movement it’s. Just a little bulky also the fabric on it is not at all stretchy so if you need. To do any sort of articulated movement you’re not going to get that freedom one of the best parts of this jacket is the warmth so it’s 600 fill traceable down. And it’s duct down so it’s smaller. Plumage that’s being inserted into the jacket for insulation however there’s more of it i can wear this jacket with just a t-shirt underneath and go out into below freezing temperatures and still be warm so the pricing on this. Jacket is two hundred and seventy-nine dollars so you know it’s a pretty standard pricing for a patagonia down. Jacket i do think that the jacket is. Worth the price for my personal rating and score of this jacket i would have to give it an 8 out of 10 you know it’s not. My favourite jacket but it is my second. Can show people of thumb loops at it see look they work thumb loops the sleeves on these are actually longer than the r-1 hoody so you can actually wear them i like the thumb loop designed better for me the r-1 hoody the thumb loop is too far down the cuff this seems just. About perfect for most use on your hands and the r-1 hoody has a slight offset. Zip from patagonia but it never lee comes up past your chin this we. Affectionately nicknamed the ninja hoody because it basically has a built in balaclava with an offset zip you can either wear it completely up like that to cover your face for ice-cold tours or. Their t-shirts become drenched in sweat. Not really a problem until the end of the day when you start to cool down and your t-shirt doesn’t dry out that’s the. Reason why base layers work well because. At the end of the day they wick away moisture leaving you dry and comfortable. This particular garment the eclipse. Looking seams that means that the garment itself is not going to rub you up against the wrong way it’s made of a techno stretch fleece. From a company called bob bergdahl i. Round underneath your chin and over your. Nose the thing i like about this. Particular garment is that it keeps your extremities warm so if you’re out in norway or in the middle of winter you can it basically bring the chin guard up. Bring down the hood and now you’re. Covering up your extremities the tip to your ears and your nose the hood itself. Is unobtrusive it doesn’t get in the way. And it can even be top to work so you. Can see from that it’s an unobtrusive hood but should you be non. Tackle semi tactical it’s there it’s an. Option for you to use also got thumb. Loops on the ends of your sleeves the. Reason why i like thumb loops is that when you’re putting on your gloves you can actually slide your gloves on and you and your sleeve doesn’t disappear at. Your wrist house it keeps things comfortable it could also bring the. Ends of the sleeves down over your knuckles so basically they’re almost starting to act as hand warmers the. Other thing about the garment and it’s all about attention to detail is you will notice that the garment is cut very. Long a lot of you would have been used to basically having t-shirts and other base layers ruching up behind them with it being carrying bergen’s this one won’t do that because it’s going on as well. Hi everyone today I’m taking a look at. The battle equipment eclipse hooded zip-t so lightweight fleece mid layer. Stroke base layer i tend to use it as a. Lightweight mid layer rather a base layer basically because the fit isn’t really skin tight so i can fit a. Close-fitting base layer underneath and use this as a lighter weight mid layer. Maybe underneath a thicker mid layer or. If it’s not that could then just as a. Standalone mid layer it’s made from. Ponte auto tech no stretch fleece which is a lightweight gridded fleece material. So on the inside the fleecy sections are. Cut into a grid pattern i really like. Gridded pieces the increased surface. Area of the grid helps trap more heat so. You get a better warmth to weight ratio before the fleece also helps with. Readability against surface area it’s. More surface area to transport the moisture away from you away from your body and wicks well it is not wind. Resistant at all is there’s a one downside compared to maybe a traditional fleece or a slightly hard face to face. The grids obviously leave big gaps. Which the wind just comes right through so bad to use underneath something if. It’s windy there are two weights of fleece used in this top the gray. Sections under the arms down the sides. Around the bottom hem all the way around. And the back of the neck. And around the mouth piece are all a. Lighter weight than the red sections which is everywhere else so you’ve got a zoned sort of climate control where you. Really do expect to be a bit more sweaty and the arms fall where you want slightly lower profile around the lower hem or around the wrists you’ve got a. Thinner lighter fleece the sleeves on. This is long very long as you can see i. Have really long arms i normally find. Sleeves too short these are really nice and long the integrated thumb loops work. Well they’re really comfortable there’s plenty of length that you’re not putting. On any part of the sleeve to put them on. But if you don’t want to use them then it sits very nicely and you can move really easily very stretchy material as. Well you have one zipped chest pocket. Quite small enough space for a mobile phone a couple of snack bars or something and a deep zip past it. Preventing and just make it be easier to. Get on and off the real masterpiece of. This top is the hood which is pretty. Unique in that it’s a really close-fitting hood so will fit really nicely. Under a helmet or under a hat or anything give some light warmth as well. And you also have a balaclava style. Front piece which is you zip the main. Zip all the way up you’ll see it tapers off to an angle so that it’s not in line. With your mouth it’s out of the way and if you get that all the way up to the. Top you can get a balaclava complete bal. Collar style like that and you can if. You tuck the sides of the hood in it gives a really close fit so that it’s barely any of your face showing well you. Can drop it down and really easy to move. Due to the way it’s constructed the. Mouthpiece is stitched slightly back. From the end of the hood so it’s almost hinged by there so if it was connected. To the front of the hood you wouldn’t be able to do this you’d have to unzip it, so they’ve done been really clever and how they’ve designed that so that really. Easy to use and you can also drop the. Hood back easily without unzipping it. Have the mouth up hood down really no. Problems using that really easy to use innovative i really like it you have a. Small beard guard or chin guard at the top of the zip as well obviously for more comfort the material on the. Balaclava part is really easy to speak. Through and breathe through because it is the thinner gray material although. It’s not not really wind resistant at. All like i said before so you know. They’ll give you some warmth and maybe. Cut a tiny bit of wind out but if it’s a. Really biting windy you’re gonna want something a bit more substantial around. Your face to keep the window it’s cut. Quite long which you can’t see but it comes down well past my hips which is. Nice that you don’t have it riding up at all when you move and it’s really low. Profile so it’s not obtrusive underneath. Shell material nice and stretchy so you get really good freedom of movement it’s also very weather resistant as well so it’s going to keep you nice and comfortable in most types of weather in the hills two big pockets on the hips. Down here which are great for keeping your hands nice and warm got a napoleon chest pocket up here which i think is just about big enough for a folded up os map velcro adjustable cuffs just to keep. The wind from going up these sleeves but a hem draw cord she’s operated from inside the pockets. Just to get a snug fit around your waist i really like this jacket because it’s pretty windy here and I’m nice and comfortable the winds not getting at me or anything like that this jacket is great for people who want.
