How’s it going everyone handy here and today what i have on will be doing a. Preview of this is the architects beta. Lt hybrid jacket so there’s nothing. Wrong with my patagonia torque shell with which i normally use and you know i. Just wanted a jacket that was more. Durable jacket and more of a shell for. Winter time which that’s the reason why i got this wintertime is just around the corner i just got my snowboard pass. Yesterday which I’m pretty excited about. And yeah I’m just slowly kind of. Acquiring some more outdoor winter time. Of year i really don’t have so let’s go. Into this jacket and show you guys what. This thing is all about so this Jackie uses two types of. Gore-tex it uses a vortex pack light for. The main body and then you can see it in a high use areas like such as up here. Under the pitts run back they use a n. 40th p which is a 3 l tricot technology. I don’t know what that means but it’s apparently a more durable gore-tex than pack last pack light it. Packs more just as the name says. Pack light so let’s go into some. Features on this jacket so one feature that i really like about this jacket are the locations of the hand pockets so. Normally the hand pockets are gonna be located right here where the hip belt is located and can’t really get to it so. Our tareq’s put the pockets right here. So you can keep your hands like this nice and warm and still have your hip. Belt strapped to you and your and your sternum strap is on as well with. Really like that idea and you can see. Where they have the high use or the high wear areas that’s they have it on the. Shoulders for shoulder straps so when. You have all that rubbing on your pack. It you know it’s more vertical fabric so. I’m the zippers here they used a watertight zipper which you can see and. The main zipper down the front. They used a watertight vislon zipper and. You can see it for these hands if herbs. The zippers go into a little garage up. Here so you can be watertight as. Possible let’s show you guys the pit zips here they’re all waterproof pit. Zips these are ideal to have in a jacket. To just open it up and just let some of. That steam out when you need to they. Really did a great job with the ergonomics of this jacket and the trim. Of it’s not it’s not too bulky and it. Looks looks like a nice fitting jacket. You can still lift your hands up and. That jacket still covers the back. Portion so you can even see from a lateral view compared to the anterior. And posterior you can see that the posterior is actually longer back here. So but when you’re reaching up it’s. Still covered alright now let’s go into. The hood of this jacket so first off. With the hood off this is very. Comfortable around here and so let’s put. The hood on it’s a very large head this is compatible with helmets so you can see how large it is with none of the. Courts cinch down so it is quite large. But once you cinch it them down. It conforms to your head very well so. You can see how i could turn and the. Hood still stays on your head very well it’s just like the patagonian jacket. It’s got a cord around here and cord. Around here as well so you can pull this. Pull it back here and it’s also got a. Very nice laminated hood so around the. Waist here you can see there’s little waist poles so you just grab these. Around both sides and just pull out. And it tightens dramatically keeps all. The air from coming out keeps the heat in so i got this jacket to be my main. Shell for this winter like i said and underneath i do have my puffy jacket. Which you can see it and there’s still plenty of room to actually put some more. Layers underneath this jacket it very. Excited to use this motor time especially you can pull these tie it cinches around the waist keeps the heat inside keeps me warm keeps me dry okay. I’m probably gonna even use this jacket. Snowboarding honestly i do you have. Another insulated jacket. But this one’s definitely more waterproof nice the wintertime you just. Keep your snowboard goggles in here. There yeah you get your goggles in there look like you get a little stomach but. Just showing you how large these pockets are they’re very large go into here so. It starts up here and all the way down. Down to here it’s a fairly large jacket. They’re fairly large pockets head i mean. So as you can see all the seams. On this jacket are seam sealed and as well. The adjustable wrist things that go. Around your wrist there alright guys. Well it’s the end of the video so what you guys can look forward to you on the next coming videos in the next few months and then this month you’re gonna. Be doing a to probably three night. Backpacking trip you know ultralight trip a couple people well it’s gonna be really exciting and fun and also be on. The lookout this winter we’re gonna be doing a lot more things this winter we’re gonna be doing snowboarding we’re gonna be doing snowshoeing we’re gonna be doing backpacking we’re gonna be. Building snow caves we’re gonna be. Setting off avalanches do an avalanche. Courses and I’m sure building snowmen. And just testing out my gear like this. Think definitely report back to you guys in a couple months to be doing a lot of use on it so yeah that’s what you guys can look forward to in the next few months pretty exciting for winter time to come and I’m just ready for it to be. Here already so yeah if you guys have any comments questions feel free to let me know and have a good one go out and explore.

Neck area for a hooded jacket let’s tell you a little bit about this jacket comes in 7.9 ounces or 223. Grams I’m wearing a size medium the size. Large was cut a little big for me it’s filled with two point eight ounces of 850 fill power q shields a hydrophobic. Down q shield is similar to the sierra. Designs dry down they’ve talked about earlier it’s where they take each individual plume, and they treat the. Plume with a dwr durable water repellent. To make it hydrophobic so that the balloon or the plume can withstand the. Presence of moisture and not collapse you know down works by when it’s inside a baffle it’s the loft or the. Springiness of those individual down plumes that create the dead air space inside these baffles i haven’t played. Around a lot with the q shield so i look. Forward to testing that out a little bit more in the future and kind of validating just how well it works and. Some other things about this jacket it’s using their whisper or fabric which is a seven janiero by changing your fabric it’s a really lightweight fabric and. It’s kind of just a really nice hand — it’s very compressible the baffle design this is using about a 1.4 inch. One point three six inches sized baffle so. A good baffle it’s a uniform baffle. Versus some of the other products up here that are using these variegated. Baffle designs the draw cord it’s a very. Small draw cord in the waist but it does have a draw cord for the waste it’s a hidden draw cord it does have two. Zippered pockets on it. And what i like about this jacket is when you zip it all the way up it. Creates a nice tight fit around the neck helps seal off that neck area, and we. Noticed that when we’re looking at these jackets underneath the ar with the flir thermal imaging camera that this jacket. The hooded jacket sometimes when you zip them all the way up they still leave a bit of room around the neck and you can. See that the heat escaping through the neck on hooded jacket, so they all work. Pretty well once you put the hood up it’s when you just have them fully zipped up with the hood down that we can tell a difference so i really like this and it just uses a standard kind of. Stretch binding in the cuff but it’s a. Little bit loose fitting that’s the only thing i might say about this jacket is the cuff could fit a little bit. Tighter so that wraps up the review of. The mountain hardwear ghost whisperer. Down hooded jacket it’s a jacket that i. Really like it works well as a layering. Piece for a mid layer but also you can wear this standalone as an exterior piece as well just a great jacket for. $350 from mountain hardwear thank you for watching our videos thank you for subscribing to our channel and stay tuned to this channel for more videos in the future.

Hey everyone dave with endearment khamir. Today we’re checking out the mountain hardwear stretch down rs hoodie now the. Mountain hardwear stretch down series is their latest iteration of down jacket brand-new for fall of 2016 and it is. Quickly becoming our favorite jacket there are two different styles there’s the rs which is one we have on right now there’s also the regular stretch down and I’ll tell you the difference between the two in a second but the most. Important part of the stretch down jacket is that it stretches obviously that’s part of the name so you can see i can feel the stretch as I’m drawing my. Arms around here and that stretch comes from on the rs this in turn it fabric. Here it’s got a little bit of mechanical stretch in it still remains down for the. Regular stretch down has that knit fabric on both the inside and the outside so the actual the regular stretch down will have a little bit more stretch than the rs does on the outside the rs has a 15 denier ghost light. Tiptop nylon that’s mountain hardwear’s proprietary fabric and it has a nice twr. On it even if the water gets inside the face fabric you have mountain hardwear’s. Q shield down this case a 750 fill on. The inside and that means that it will stay dry longer it will dry more quickly. And it will stay a little bit lofty r when it does get wet all great features now you can see here these baffles have. No stitching on them they use what’s called a bonded channel construction that’s something that mount hardware in columbia developed so no stitch between. The baffles mean that there are no. Little holes for air to get through and four down to get out awesome little bit of technology there as far as the rest. Of the features on this jacket goes you have a nice napoleon pocket pretty deep there you have a couple of hand warmer. Pockets on either side of the jacket here and on the right side you have a reversible zipper or the pull on the inside so you can stuff the jacket into the pocket when you want to stash it away somewhere you also have a nice hood on the hooded version scuba style this is all elastic. Around here so there’s no draw cord to cinch things down but see it keeps it pretty tight across my face feels pretty good nice and warm draw strings around. The hem though captive cord locks so. They won’t get all dangly and in the way or snag on anything I’m about 510 and. About 230 pounds right now jacket fits. Me pretty well although this could use a. Little bit of extra length and that’s just i don’t have exceptionally long arms so if you’re a longer arm person. Than i am you might run into a problem there the stretch down comes in a hooded. Version and a non hood version in both the regular stretch down on the rs that we have you can pick up both the stretch down and the stretch down rs and put it. In a non hooded jacket and if you stop. By the website we’ll have a full review laid out for you with all the specs the weights msrp s and links to where you can buy them at the best price from the best vendors thanks for stopping by NGE r minh hope you’ll check us out again soon. You.

Adam here forget out their magazine today i am bringing you a comparative review of two down-filled jackets by mountain hardwear Over here we have the ghost whisperer down hooded jacket and on this side we have the stretch down rs hooded jacket let’s break down what it’s similar first. At first glance you think that these may be the same jacket both uses similar fabric the rs is slightly thicker fabric in the whisper but both are extremely thin and feel like they could rip easily. But let me tell you they’re surprisingly durable after extensive use i have yet. To fiber rip and either of these jackets now each has a drawstring waist and each. Has similar down fill and provides. Similar warmth 750 down fill for the rs. And 800 for the whisper both have mountain hardwear’s q shield down which is treated to be water repellent however both jackets soak throughout their two hours in a wet snowfall finally both. Have down-filled hoods which do not have draw strings, but they do stay on tight even in high winds and that’s really where the similarities end the whisper has an active fit which is. Really tight to the body where the rs of the performance fit which is more room through the waist shoulders and arms for reference I’m five-eleven 185 pounds in both jackets are size medium the whisper. Is the world’s lightest down hooded jacket well at least that’s what the mountain hardwear website says so don’t quote me on that but it is extremely light it only weighs in at 7.7 ounces. Where the rs is also very light but it’s. Almost double the weight at fourteen point nine ounces to keep the weight down the whisper has a minimalistic design and only two zippered hand pockets while the rs has two zippered. Hand pockets a zippered chest pocket in the internal mesh pockets the cuffs are. Both very different drs has a traditional small outer elastic while the whisper has a unique design with the down fill all the way to the end of the sleeve and it has a hidden elastic inside the cuff to keep it in place surprisingly i found this was much better to keep the cuff in place during activity than the rs cuff a neat feature of the ghost whisperer is its ability to be stored away in its own pocket it folds up to the size of a large water bottle which makes it super convenient on days when the temperature or your activity level maven the rs is a version of mountain hardwear’s new stretch down line and to. Be honest i didn’t find there to be much stretch in this fabric however i did find it to be pretty comfortable at the end of the day i found the stretch down rs jacket to be great for leisure activities like walking the dog and hiking as well as general wear around town i also have had many compliments on. The style of this jacket on the other hand the ghost whisperer jacket has not had any compliments for the look and that may be due to the color but it is a way better choice for someone who’s looking for a down-filled jacket to be active in i have found this also to be. Useful as a mid layer under a hard shell jacket because of its nugget let it sit from the outside these jackets are very similar however depending on your use they are quite distinct so hopefully this video helped clarify that for you know if you’d like more information on either of these two jackets or any other mountain hardwear products please visit their website listed in the description below You.

I first saw the kathleen for one piece i. Was really psyched it’s a really nice. Solution for blocking the snow and cold when you’re skiing powder i wear it all. The time just as my base layer it’s totally versatile we’re similar. Conditions just everything’s sealed and. That much warmer by not having those gaps between bottoms and tops you know. It’s like a second skin it puts your. Arms and legs and everything on the same little sue kathleen fabric is very. Breathable which is really nice for cold weather stop-and-go activities climbing. Skiing ice buying this climbing when I’m. Skiing in the storm i love the collar because i can just pull it all the way up to my nose and it really blocks the cold it has this sort. Of wallet in it and it just feels great against your skin i think it’s the most. Exciting technical fabric we have. There’s a piece that i always wanted and excited to have it as a tool and my clothing kit.

Hey everyone it’s bigfoot here in this video I’m reviewing my absolute favorite. Piece of backpacking clothing that I’ve ever owned and that’s my patagonia capilene thermal weight quarter zip. Hoodie Well like many hikers out there what drew me to this particular product was the review that redbeard gave on it during his 2014 through hike and i got to say he was spot-on this has been my. Favorite piece of clothing I’ve had out there in the back country for many different reasons really because it’s just so versatile from a weight standpoint i wore a large came in at eight point seven ounces the claimed weight on this is seven point seven ounces now i don’t know if that’s for a smaller and medium i probably guess maybe a small so it really depends on what your sizes the zipper that this has it’s a quarter zipper so it will only go. Down to about your chest but what’s really great about it is while i was wearing if i started to get warm but it was still cool out i would just zip it down all the way to the very bottom. Of the zipper and did a great job of really helping let some of that air flow. Through invented and really kind of. Helped cool me down a little bit without having to take this off this typically on a normal day when i was hiking i typically wore this probably for about the first mile it was simple and light to be able to put on simple and light to be able to get off and throw back in my pack but again a lot of times i wore. This to get started the day and then of. Course at camp so i wore this all the time at camp whether it was at night whether it was. In the morning but it was just a great piece of gear that i could just throw on any one time just to kind of raise my. Body temperature so what i normally would do is i would actually keep this on the very top of my pack so above. Where all my clothes and my food my diddy sack my tent all those things were below this because i would pull this out and put it on quite frequently throughout the day more so at night more. So in the morning but really loved the versatility at this piece of gear had now it does have a couple of elastic. Some holes that you can put your thumbs. Through to really hold this thing the sleeves in place so there are times when it does start to get really cold out there on the trail especially when you’re starting to hit like the 30s and the low 40s and you are uncomfortable. And want to make sure that your sleeves stay in one place you can put those. Elastic some holes around your thumbs and then. It also helps with really kind of keeping a part of your palm warm as well so i like that in addition all right let’s talk about the hood so i did not. Have a hood with my ultimate down jacket and I’m so glad that i didn’t go with one but i brought it beanie with but i. Honestly i maybe wore the beanie maybe three times because if i had the beanie on it’s because i already it was cold enough that i already had this out and on and with this having a hood it really defeated the purpose of me having to have a beanie and wear a beanie but i. Put this on all the time it was just great being able to have the versatility of doing that hood on and i didn’t need. It just taking it off but it really did a great job would keep me warm and again. With that airflow that this is able to create i was able to really stay cool but still stay warm and those cooler. Temperatures normally when i did my hood on i would zip this up about half-way now this if you zip it all the way up to the top will go just above your mouth. That’s a little bit about the hoodie now. The fabric is made of a polar tech power grid it’s made of 92 percent recycled. Polyester and has a permanent odor control on it so never had any issues. With this thing really smelling bad at all know from a sizing standpoint this has more of that athletic fit so is a. Slim fit depending on what size that you. Are you might want to go up a size if you don’t like that feeling of such a slim fit now when i did start to get warm and i did not want to pull off my entire thermal hoody i would normally just roll my sleeves up and the nice. Part is the fabric that it’s made out of didn’t really bother me when it was all bunched up sob of my elbows so really. Was comfortable and all of these features really play in why this is my. Favorite piece of clothing that i have. Ever had out there in the back country so as you can guess i highly recommend this piece of clothing i love. This thing i take it with me pretty much everywhere you probably see me wear it in many of my other gear videos but again redbeard had this thing right this. Is a great piece of gear right now i. Think retails somewhere around $99 but totally worth the money and it’s. Held up for me really well I’ve had a couple holes start to form at the very end of the. Sleeves here so as you can see right. Here got a little hole forming anyway. Held up really well durable lightweight. Extremely warm extremely versatile wicks. The moisture away comfortable it’s got a. Hoody i mean love this thing so anyway. Guys check it out I’ll put links to the. Details of where to get this below alright guys well that wraps it up stay. Tuned for more gear reviews and more sightings here in the channel and of course you guys know remember to always follow bigfoot

For base layer stuff i start with new. Capilene 4 expedition wait it’s a warmer. Item that keeps my legs and knees happier all day long and ready for the. Snowboarding as well as i keep it cool for the uphill I’m dropping in and while my legs we warmed up i just want to make sure that I’m always warmer than cold. And they’re super nice just how they stretch dude that’s what I’ve worn everyday snowboarding is the expedition weight.

All right how’s it going guys welcome to layers in gear just want to do a quick review for you guys on the patagonia thermal weight hoodie so I’ve had this. Hoodie for 16 months now i bought it. When i went on a trip doing the backbone trail it’s like a 70-mile hike my buddy. Did in about three days and so i was looking for a nice mid layer actually and i had looked at the r-1 which i as well. Have and it was just a little heavy and i really think it was necessary it’s a hike in southern california and so i was looking for something a little bit lighter that i could use and so what i. Did is i went with the patagonia thermal. Capilene the patagonia thermal capilene. Hoody so to be honest with you i. Actually did not like this piece for my backpacking trip it was too hot to be. Used as a face layer you know i needed something like under like a shirt that i could be in for the majority of the time during the day and it’s also but at the. End of the day it is a base layer so using this as a mid layer is highly. Uncomfortable because that’s not what it’s designed to do it’s not designed to go over the top of a shirt it’s designed for next to skin comfort so trying to wear it that way you’re gonna notice a lot of bunching and your shoulders and a lot of discomfort taking it on and off. Because like i said it’s very slim fitting so i was actually pretty. Concerned when i bought it cuz after the hike i was like man I’m never gonna get any use out of this thing so that went. On for a few months and it just stayed in my closet and i really didn’t get much use out of it at all and that was. Until i started working out in my garage. Actually and it gets pretty cold here in. The mornings in the winter and so and. Normally in my garage i work out with my shirt off once i get warmed up so this was a perfect piece for that kind of for. That kind of activity for warming up in cold weather sub 40 degree weather you’re cold when you start you have this next to skin to warm up i also wear it. Cold-weather jogging so if i go for a jog early in the morning or in the evening I’ll wear this and i usually. Won’t even shed it because it is extremely breathable you can see it has these waffle pattern fabric it’s a very. Breathable mix moisture really well and at the end of the day for something like jogging daily when you’re at home it’s. Not a big deal if you sweat in it because you can just throw it in the wash which is something i want to mention this is not although it has paulie g and permanent holder odor control it is not very good and nor is. Any synthetic polyester type fabric no. Matter what they tell you they’re not gonna be good for fighting bacteria. And having anti-odor properties it’s just that’s not what they’re made for but what it does for me is it makes me feel comfortable that if i wear it to warm up and i don’t really excessively sweat in it then i don’t feel like i need to wash it if i want to wear it again tomorrow and that’s not for like going out and being around one people but you know i work out everyday in my garage and I’ll wear this usually every single day five days in a row but i but. Again i don’t sweat in it once i start working up a sweat i remove it because they will stink and i will have to wash it so i don’t want you guys to get that wrong impression so prominent features it has these thumb. Loops which are really nice because like. I said when you’re switching layers taking them all and take them off primarily if you’re putting a mid layer on over this base layer you can put your. Fingers in the thumb loops, and they won’t bunch up at the shoulders other than that i think the hoodies incredible i think without the hoody this piece would not be worth the money they have the zip neck but without the hood for. The kind of if you’re doing the kind of use that I’m planning on that i do with it without the hood i just think it. Would be useless it’s a perfect little addition that keeps everything tight and. Warm when you’re warming up so alright. So material and comfort very comfortable. Next to skin like i said not comfortable if you’re trying to wear as the warmth is fine it’s its not warm. It’s not a sweatshirt it’s not a jacket it’s to stay warm if you’re warming up. You know what I’m saying so it you know when i put this on in the morning and go for a jog I’m freezing cold in it until i get warmed up but with that being said it is warmer than like just a. Long-sleeve shirt that’s why I’m saying the hoodies so important cuz i think without the hoodie it’s not much warmer than average long-sleeve shirt we talked. About the odor control best uses again i. Think for backpacking it’s not really a good choice but for running biking and. Cold-weather warm ups and as far as daily wear i don’t know why you would wear it’s not attractive it’s not there’s nothing i mean its kind of it’s its it’s completely as. Good as it was from day one like i said I’ve had it for 16 months now I’ve worn it almost every day for the last year of that probably. So for its value i would say that it’s. Honestly there’s a lot of products coming out right now in this market there’s a lot of things i just have noticed in the last few months so there’s a lot of different products that are coming out with it’s like kind of long-sleeve shirts with hoods you can find them like rei has their own brand nike under armour i mean all of those. Companies are coming out with these kinds of warm up things and i think that honestly for the value those are probably going to be just good because like i said you’re not it’s i don’t use. This for an extreme piece of kit i use. It for warming up working out i mean i. Personally love it when i spend the money on it again for like 80 90 bucks. Yeah i probably would just cuz I’ve come to love it and appreciate the comfort of. It you know I’ve tried on like the rei one in the store for instance and it’s. Just not as comfortable it’s clingy the polyester this is very i mean it almost feels like cotton so anyway that’s all i. Have for you guys real quick before i go through i just also want to show you i also do own these patagonia lightweight. Bottoms they’re also capilene same material just. A lighter weight i don’t they’re good i. Mean if you’re looking for lightweight long johns then i guess you can get them. At something i don’t recommend them it’s just for the price i think you can do better you can get a merino wool pair for the same price and i would just definitely go with that also the reason. The number one reason i don’t recommend them is this fly i got in commando in my. Long johns and this fly is not it’s. Barely covering so you will walk around. In these commando and your will just fall out the hole for sure it’s not. A good fly whatsoever and to me that’s just honestly I’ve been in situations where my dick was just hanging out and i was like wow that’s awkward so for that. Reason alone i would not recommend these. So yeah thanks guys.

Awesome piece wind stopper i could go on. Since then my heart has been making a. Lot of dope a lot of dope stuff right when i saw this piece i loved it i had. The order this is called the mountain. Hardwear core stratum alpine hoodie. Right so basically what this is a. Synthetic. It insulates with synthetic insulation and the synthetic insulation that he. Uses is primaloft gold active and. Primaloft gold by itself all right so. That’s two different primaloft insulation zin here it has the heavier. The official active in the soldiers and. It has the lighter primaloft just gold. In the rest of the body and ours you can. See the mountain hardwear right there. The insignia right they got to love that both and so tough i love it loves that. The cuffs are nice and tight they’re not loose again outerwear jacket. Manufacturers please pay. Attention to the cuffs please make them. Tight it’s the most annoying thing when. You have a great piece of outerwear and the cuffs are loose. Of the sleep. So again we’re here with the core strata this is the out my mouth hardened we are don’t. Be confused they have a regular it’s. Still, synthetic north face tearing. Synthetic insulation is becoming more prevalent in the game now it allows you. To make a very warm piece of warmth that. Rivals a down jacket without the bulk. And without all right so this is basically doing the. Same thing and i love this jacket. That fit this is a double xl believer. And the fit is a little there cut a. Little school so if you usually wear a. Large get a xl usually wear a xl get a. Double xl this is a double xl for me and. I wish you had just a little bit if I’m. Just gonna wear a base layer with it then you know I’m fine but usually these. Types of jackets are like to wear there maybe if I’m going to work or maybe a button-down shirt or if i want to put a. Thicker pullover fleece on underneath to. The thermal mid layer underneath it. Might be a little tight so my own hard way i would say please if you could make. The next iterations of these a little bit more room I’d appreciated. Look at the jacket we have two hand-warmer pockets at the side very. Nice. Very nice lining on the inside the. Zippers are nice not as flowy as some. Other brands are terrence comes to mind. Is it versa to super just easy to open. And close if you do it with one hand so. Flowy and smooth and you have to napoleon chest pockets it which is very nice i. I love just pilots they’re very convenient you don’t have to open the tag enough to get two keys or money or. Anything they don’t like access to awesome right. You have ahem-hem loop here at the. Bottom we saw one sided so you can just pull it tightens up the whole thing and i really like i really like the. Jacket i love this blue and the fabric. Is very nice i mean they did non hard we. Did a very good job with the fabric it’s. Very soft it’s plushy. I’m very impressed with the field and. The craftsmanship of the jacket. This kind of shiny nylon overlaid. You know you’ll be the judge some people. May like it some people may not but i. Think it looks kind of cool right now. For the hood there is no adjustment here. On the sides of the face yet one adjustment is here on the back all right. One point adjustment which we’ve seen in. A lot of jackets that it’s great but i. Think mountain hardwear falls under the short heel with this reason why i say that this is because look at the sides. Here right this is open this is supposed. To be closed when i cinch down the hood. So when it’s cold and breathe me out. You’re gonna get tons of air just rushing down inside the jacket i kind of. Like the size of the jacket in the hood. Are going to be open i think they. Definitely redesigned this hood i want. To keep this jacket so much but this was. A no-go for me i could probably even live with loose cuffs but a hood that. Works properly all right. You know a rule of thumb a lot of yup you have a lot of jacket makers out here. A lot of people doing just excellent stuff a lot of people just doing kind of. Ok stuff with their outerwear but really. The deciding factor with a jack especially a technical outerwear piece is the hood is on point if the hood is. Just cinches down perfectly it’s no. Fuss at all then that’s gonna be a great. Jacket alright that’s like a rule of thumb jack it has a great hug the jacket. Is probably gonna be great at what it does also out here today. It’s like 28 degrees 30 degrees it’s. Could it’s chilly I’m pretty warm in this i wouldn’t recommend you wear it in very. Cold conditions like this but you know if you have a thermal under there a. Light fleece pullover a very thin fleece. To wear underneath it and you’re hell-bent on wearing this in that condition then you could probably get away but this would probably be suited i. Would say from anywhere to make 30s to. Mid 40s. I really like the jacket about i love it i love the feel i love the. Look it’s just the hood i can’t have an. Open hood that’s just a no-go for me so. Please but next season or this winter. Coming up you guys look at the inside of. The jacket which i also think they did a. Good job like i said i was very impressed with the craftsmanship of the. Jacket they go the tags because the. Jacket is going back. All right so you have mountain hardwear. You have righted you have two types of. Insulation you have the active you have the regular primaloft you can’t go wrong. With that but just look at the inside of the jacket all right look at the craftsmanship is very nice material that they’ve used on the inside. Of the jacket i think they did a great. Job but this hood they have to redesign. This hood so that it cinches around your. Face the right way great piece has to be. On point all right so this is big jersey. Signing off. Hit me up down below you have any questions subscribe problem. Gear reviews

Why man she kills knobs and watches baby. And this is about the doc my momma. Mountain hardwear man wasn’t there you. Know mountain hardwear my cuz we gotta. Have out there mountain hardwear logo in it man and these are the ghost whisperer. Jackets now what they are they’re. Lightweight down jackets by lightweight. You wouldn’t believe me if i told you how light they are i know i’ve done. Videos on them before but this is a one. Year later update on the two non hooded. Jackets that we have this black one and. Then this green one now this one’s mine. Of course the black ones means guns knives and watches and i really like the green but. When i purchased these these things list. For $300 apiece for the non hooded and. Three hundred and fifty dollars a piece for the hood hood in my real-world. Estimation unless you’re going for a. Fashion statement that you’re just going to wear to school or something or da-da-da-da-da or to non there’s no need. In paying $350 you can buy these things. On closeout all the time from a hundred and thirty dollars for the non hooded. And about 140 to 150 dollars so i would. Go in somewhere in that price range a hundred and thirty to a hundred and fifty dollars apiece now you may not get. The the color you want you may not get. The size that you want but that’s just. The way it is i’ll give you an example of that you know i i didn’t my first. Inclination was not to purchase this and bright green jacket even though i really. Do like it now i would have much rather. Had something that’s a little more subdued like this one but for the price. I think i got this for a hundred and thirty dollars it’s really great of. Course these are down lightweight insulated layers can be exterior layers the one thing about this down is is treated with something that they’re marketing as cue. Shield right there and what that does is. That gives the down the ability to get. Wet and everything’s better when it’s. Wet maybe it really is things don’t get. Interesting till it starts raining you’re not training less it’s raining that’s just the way it works. So these hold some of their ability to. Have warmth even when wet when. Traditional that untreated down isn’t and that’s really the basis of my. Judging the honest to god value of these these items because there is a lot of. Sewing into in it each stitch there’s. Not a lot of treated down in it and if you can notice through this orange. Because it’s more of a translucent. Orange you can see some of the darker. Feathers possibly on camera showing. Through now let me see if i can make. That work probably not anyway it doesn’t matter but like i said missus guns. Knives and watch it’s got a small in this where she would normally wear an extra small it’s a little long in the sleeves but for the price you couldn’t couldn’t beat it and then of course i got this more whatever type of green. That it is but if i was gonna buy one my. Recommendation is that you go with the hood because there’s such a small. Difference between the cost of the two and people hike use these to hike the appalachian trail they use them out on hiking and they use them all kinds of different things and i carry believe it. Or not i carry a backpack all the time when i wear mine and there’s no real. Wear marks now this is a micro rip stop. And i can’t really show you that on. Camera because it seems is or maybe i. Can there’s a micro rip stop pattern. Man i don’t know that’s showing everyone. And it’s a very very high thread-count. Fabric which gives it the ability number. One your feathers aren’t going to poke through which in a lesser thread count of course they would and also you get. Basically a strength factor similar to. Silk okay where you don’t have you don’t. Have the big thread like you’re doing like kevlar or like no matte nomex or. Any of that other kind of crap no max it. For fire rating but spec tara whatever. You know you you get the gist of the idea so i would say these are really. Good codes highly recommend them via our favorites they’re extremely lightweight they’re extremely packable everything packs up in its own little pocket you can see. It’s got a double zipper on it and it. Just goes in relatively easy without. Much fuss without much this that or the other and just gonna eat your shelf. Liner but that’s basically what you’re. Left with and i’ll even go through the. Effort of zipping it even though i have. Found that with these compressible coats. And things like this you really need to. Pull the zipper together to zip it or. Else you basically wind up putting too much force on the zipper itself that’s. Pretty self-explanatory this isn’t rocket science or anything like that and. Me hugging a tripod right now anything exactly probably the best setup in the world. But let’s see if i can do it on camera it’s not real till it’s on film right. Anyway about size of my hand of course i. Got rather large size hands but it’s just the way it is well what else can i. Say. Told you the pricing told you this there or the other course at 300 and 350 and. If you’re going to use these things you’re whacked out of your gourd but. That you know they’re dumb people born. Every day this guy’s knives and watches and have a. Good one buy things when people don’t. Want them don’t buy them when they’re in high demand you know by last year’s. Color buy whatever just do it correctly one thing that i have noticed between. The generations of these two and. Probably i pulled the wrong one out the older ones had elastic on the edge elastic if it’s really good quality kind. Of a problem with the newer ones. Don’t they have a just a basic wear. Strip there which has very little flecks. In it i don’t know how that’s going to. Actually which one’s going to wear out first or give up its ghost first but. These are wearing well this gots knives. And watches peace out.

I am wearing the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket. This ultra lightweight piece weighs in at just eight ounces. It utilizes water resistant down insulation to give you all weather performance whether. You are wearing this as a cool weather outer wear piece or as part of a colder weather. Layering system. Let’s take a closer look at its fit and features. The jacket is insulated with 800 fill q shield, water resistant down. So like you would expect from down insulation, extremely lightweight, extremely compressible. And a really strong warmth to weight ratio. However, over the years down has proven to lose its ability to keep you warm if it should. Become wet or damp. With the water resistant treatment to this down, you don’t have to worry about that. Nearly as much. It stays dry longer. Should it become wet, it still retains its ability to keep you warm. A really, really nice treatment to that down insulation. That said, it is worth pointing out that there is not a lot of insulation in this jacket. That is by design. It is an ultra lightweight layering piece. Again, you can certainly wear it as a standalone piece, but in cool weather as opposed. To cold weather. You do have narrow baffles that helps to keep the insulation where it should be so it doesn’t. Migrate and it also helps to bolster the warmth that this jacket is able to deliver. The exterior shell fabric on this jacket… keep in mind, we are talking about an ultra. Lightweight piece. So you have got a 70 by 10 d nylon rip stop. It is surprisingly strong and abrasion resistant, but still, we are talking about an ultra light. Weight design. So keep that in mind if you are weighing durability versus performance. That low profile design makes this, again, a great layering piece. You are not going to get a lot of layers underneath this, base layers, certainly. If it is a mid layer, you have got to be extremely low profile. There is a certain expectation that you are likely to put something either even warmer. Over top of it or a more weather resistant, weather proof hard shell jacket. There are elastic cuffs, an interesting treatment on the interior here that keeps those cuffs. In place. a single point of adjust ability on the hem to cinch the fit in there. It is a hooded jacket. No real adjust ability there. Just elastic that runs around the face that gives that a nice, trim, comfortable fit. In keeping with that streamlined design, you only have two pockets on the jacket, zippered. Pockets here on the front. Not much to speak of as far as the lining, but you do have that insulation over the top. Of the hands, so they are warm pockets. The right pocket here also serves as a stow pocket. Put the jacket inside there and show you just how small and compact this jacket is when. Put inside that pocket. You see just how small and compact the jacket is when stuffed inside that right-hand pocket. There is an attachment point here if you want to lash it to the outside of a pack or a harness. At this size i think it is perfect for actually throwing it inside the pack or the top lid. Pocket on a back pack. So you have got that ultra light warmth handy when you need it. The mountain hardwear men’s ghost whisperer hooded down jacket weighs in at just eight. Ounces. It has got that water resistant down, perfect for cool weather activities or as a key part. Of your cold weather layering system.

Hi this is craig geology with review of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket for pro like here calm i would put this jacket up against. The patagonia ultralight down hoody but. I like this jacket better for the following reasons number one it’s lighter weight and number two it uses a more intelligent or a higher performance. Baffle design than the ultralight down hoody from patagonia and it’s got a what. I feel is a better design around the.

Hey guys this is peter of gig ago calm. And today I’m out here in the. Post-christmas winter scenery it’s great. To get out that’s the very first thing to notice get your butt off the couch. Get out into this fabulous winter. Landscape today i will go into hooded. Jackets in three ways first my thought. Why i have one and not a non hooded. Jacket a second very short and. Completely incomplete view into head. Adjustment and why it’s important and third by modification for idi that could. Not be adjusted before namely the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket okay let’s. Start number one many hikers before non. Hooded jackets and instead have a. Balaclava or other kind of head instead. That’s just personal preference if you. Think that it’s more flexible to have a. Balaclava to use with your quilt that’s. Okay for me hooded jacket is perfect. Because if it’s warm enough that i don’t. Need my hooded jacket inside of my kilt. A buff that i usually carry is almost. Enough for my head in the night and if. It’s so cold that i need to wear my. Hooded jacket inside of the kilt to. Boost my temperature range where the. Head is almost in place and that’s the. Second question if you are wearing. Glasses like me or even if you don’t wear glasses adjusting a hat is a necessity as you. Can see that way this head is nearly. Unusual for me and you can’t blame octoroks this is an accurate record for. For cutting having a bad cut no it’s. Intended use as you can see you can. Easily fit a helmet under it and if you’re a climber or change between climbing and hiking you definitely need. This right hem compatible cut so that’s. Not a question of a bad cut it’s just a question of how do you cope with all these material if you don’t wear a helmet and just want to have a warm head. And it’s definitely inappropriate to. Walk around mountain scenery like this. So and the way manufacturers deal with. This is head adjustment for example this jacket a shock cord in the neck. And this short cord runs through the. Sides and inside an inner seam that is. Here and by that you can adjust this. Jacket sorry can adjust it to a perfect. Fit have it a bit more loose or bit wider as you like it and it’s perfectly. For if you’re wearing glasses or if you. Just want to have your head wind shielded and warm but this is obviously. Additional weight around 80 centimeters. Or a meter of record it has a channel to. We soon in here and other ways to deal. With this is like this hedge here is a. Piece of velcro a piece of velcro that. Is on the head and this will that tie. Back the head a velcro isn’t a good. Solution if it’s standalone you always. Need ties to narrow down the face area. Another disadvantage of vectra is that. The super ultra light materials like 10. D or 70 nylon get damaged by the micro. Hooks of the workflow so where crew isn’t the best solution for that kind of adjustment. And third some manufacturers don’t even. Do any head adjustment on their jackets. For example this mountain hardwear ghost. Whisperer hooded racquet is completely. Without head adjustment so if you’re wearing a helmet this head is fine and it’s made for it’s made for climbers. As a super ultra lightweight down jacket. It’s wrong i love this jacket i carried. It through the mountains of europe it’s. A great piece of gear and it’s probably one of the most worn puffy jackets on. The pct however it doesn’t have head. Adjustment and that means. That you can’t see anything if you’re. Moving around with this jacket and this head it’s and if the wind blows it will blow it off your face so you need. Adjustment what to do with a head. Adjustment of such a jacket it’s a great jacket but i missed head adjustment the. First question is if you’re not going to sue in some narrowings here and if. You’re born a half your glass is free you need to tear this back right like. You’ve seen on the actor x jacket before on the blue one and second is you should. Do this in your neck you can do it on the upper side or you can do it on the. Lower side and that’s definitely a difference because if you do it on the lower side it will get narrow here and. Draw this back and if you draw this back. Here this will put tension on your. Glasses and this pressure here on these. Pairings here that’s somewhat annoying. So it’s good not to put tension on the. Lower part on the neck if you’re trying to adjust this head so my recommendation. Is adjust it more on the upper side this. Will draw the tension up here and from. The adjustment point it will have a. Tension that over here and back here and you see this jacket is fine in that way. The question now is how do i make this. And here’s my solution. Those hooded jackets have almost the. Same kind of cut in the head it’s a wide. Rectangular stretch in the center and. The side parts and there’s already a. Seam here so you can just apply anything. You do on that seam and i used here a. Bra pocket and these little buggers. Consists of two hooks clip it together. And as you can see now the jacket is my. Face is fully clear my glasses don’t. Interfere with the hood and even if i. Have to change between my helmet and. With the outer helmet i just can clip. This off with one hand tear this off put. My helmet on put the jacket on again and. The same way vice versa remove the. Helmet put so check it on now i do need. In fact two hands but i can easily clip. It in the back of my head every woman. Manages on her back so why shouldn’t i. And that it’s very easy and you only. Problem is how do you get access to brass buckle well there are three. Options first you go into a underwear. Shop for a woman and ask for it but not. Every man is used to that kind of shopping and i fully understand that. Second option you have a girlfriend or. You’re married and get access to her bra. In some way and hurt you are already a. Girl a woman and do have a bride can. Just cut off the buckle that’s the most the easiest way to get it i do have a hinge. If you wanted to use that kind of. Bugger the pockets are designed to lock in a. Reshaped form the for movie. Slide it into each other and then push. It straight and it’s locked so on your. On the back of your head if it would be. Like that on the back of your head it could be opened just by your the form of. Your head so make sure that you see on. The buckle in a way that then it opens to your head and not to the other side. You see the back is being closed here. And if it presses it to my head. It gets open that is because if you are. Lying in your hooded jacket in your. Quilt for example you could accidentally open it by turning around the hook could. Damage your air mattress or just the. Hood could fall off your head while you’re turning while sleeping and you. Want to avoid this so my recommendation. Is use it in the way that it opens to. Your head and not to the other side. So far on hooded jackets and my little. Modification of the ghost whisperer hooded jacket for a mountain hardwear. Last but not least don’t forget get your. Gear and get out.

Here I’m holding the mountain hardwear woman’s ghost whisperer hooded down. Jacket you can see how small this packs down it’s actually packed down into a. Snow pocket with the lightweight fabrics. And 850 fill down this jacket weighs in. At just under eight ounces makes it a great option for backpacking or climbing. When you need something that packs really small and it’s super lightweight this jacket is filled with high-quality. 850 full q shield down and q shield down. Is just a treatment that’s applied to each of the down feathers that gives it high performance in damp conditions so. Unlike traditional down this jacket is gonna have the pack ability you know the. Lightweight feature of regular down. Without sacrificing its performance in damp conditions the features of this. Jacket are really simple you have a single elastic draw cord around the hem. Two hand warmer pockets there’s a storm. Flap behind the main zipper to hold in. Heat a very simple lycra cuff and the. Some around the hood I’d say the fit of. This jacket is definitely a little bit trim i normally wear a small and most. Outerwear pieces and other brands and this is a medium and it seems to fit me pretty well i can definitely get some layers underneath of this and if i want to wear a shell over top it doesn’t seem. Too bulky which makes it a great layering piece for milder conditions this would. Definitely be a good outerwear piece and in colder conditions you would want to wear shell over top all in all the ghost. Whisperer jacket is your go-to. Ultralight down jacket. You.

All guys wanted to do a quick review. Of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket this is an 800 full power. 800 fill power down with the 7 denier. Fabric and it has the q shield which. Means that every down plume or the down. Was treated with a dwr coating to. Protect it from some of the weaknesses of down which is moisture there is. Footage at the end of this video that I’ll include where i wash the jacket and. How you could see the look looms you. No clumping when wet and i put it in the dryer with four. Tennis balls tumble dry low for about 60. Minutes i guess you could do it a little. Shorter but i like to do it on low heat not to damage the fabric and end it down. As much as i can i will be adding you. No down safe detergent to my cleaning. Supplies whatever you want to call that. For all my down coats now i wound up purchasing this jacket. Because i felt that the cerium lt was. Just a little bit warm for my daily use here in new york city this jacket is. Great down to freezing and up to the. Mid-40s you don’t overheat with this as much as. The cerium lt and then app when it goes. Up and we have days when it’s 35 in the. Morning and it’s 55 by the afternoon it’s light enough eight and a half. Ounces was easier for me to. Psychologically carry in my backpack than an 11 ounce serum lt so I’ve owned. This piece since march 2017 did not. Really get a full we use out of this during 2017 bought it. When it was on sale, and we had a couple of cold days before spring had really. Arrived and was able to use it towards. The end of 2017 winter in march so i was. Really upset to see that earlier this. Winter without even a full seasons use. That the stitching was coming off so you. Could see here this was on the right sleeve right by the elbow and then as well. Now after washing it i also noticed that. There’s more stitching coming off right. Above that so it could be a quality. Control issue i have the former or. Previous version of this which is the. Yellow one i featured in one of my videos and that jacket does not show any. Signs of wear and I’ve used it i guess. Pretty close to you know i guess it’s. More of a handful of times in comparison to this but more than 1020. Times for sure the color is a bit hard. To use outside of back country use but i. Did use it for at least two seasons but. Not every day like this jacket now. Mountain hardwear has a limited or has a. Lifetime warranty but they’re going to. Require you to ship it back to the. Manufacturer other thing is if you. Attempt to fix this yourself or pay. Someone to fix it voids that warranty. So i found out that paragon sports here. In new york city mails back to the. Manufacturer so I’m actually bringing this to paragon sports today. And this is maybe the last chance i get. To review this actual jacket because. Either they repair it or they send you a. New jacket so i wanted to show you guys. The defects before i ship it back to the. Manufacturer so rei also does that for. Their customers anyway don’t want to. Dwell too much on this in terms of. Performance it’s very warm for its. Weight and the face fabric which is. Super thin has held up really well you. No i wear a backpack every day and you. Do not see any signs of wear on the. Shoulders the floor even though it. Doesn’t have an adjustment fits pretty. Well except on really windy days so. There’s also no signs of wear for. Abrasion where the backpack is so if it. Were not for the stitching coming off i. Think for the most part the materials. Used are very durable I’ve had no issues. With the zipper and you’ve got a pretty. Nice zipper garage up there. And this is a ykk i believe this is a. Ykk vislon zipper which is better than. The zipper on the cerium lt as far as. Most reviews are concerned these do not. Get stuck or snag as much as the i think. Coil zippers are they that’s what they call them just put some comments below if i butchered that anyway I’m just gonna. Show you guys how the jacket fits so you. Don’t have to go to my last video and. That’s about it weighs eight and a half. Ounces I’m gonna pause and put it in its. Stuff sack that way you guys have a. Reference for packed size and weight so. Here is the ghost whisperer down hoody. Right next to a 1 liter nalgene just for. Size comparison it does not compact as. Small as its previous iteration which. Was the 850 fill power down that had a. Smaller pocket a big advantage is that. The larger pocket makes it easier to stuff the jacket in there and also you. Just have more space for more things in. Your pockets the jacket weighs in at. Ain’t 8.4 ounces so it’s very light you. Can still compress this smaller. If you are one of those people that. Brings compression sacks but i have no. Problem with the size of this jacket in. Terms of its compressed or packed size usually I’ll actually just roll the. Jacket and stuff it into its own hood and then throw that thing in my backpack so i don’t even use this still pocket. That much anyway I’ll be showing you. Guys to fit up the jacket and then I’ll. Be heading to aragon sports today and. Sort of saying goodbye to this jacket not sure if they’re gonna be shipping. The same jacket back to me or if they’re. Just going to replace it hopefully they. Will be able to repair this jacket i do. Like the color and I’m a big fan of the. Ghost whisperer despite some of the. Damages that this jacket has incurred i. Still, have my old version and that thing. Still going strong just not a big fan of. The color which is yellow so alright. Moving on to the next part of the video. Which is the fit so i just wanted to. Show you guys the fit of mountain harbor. Ghost whisperer without having to refer. To other videos I’m 5 foot 8 currently. Weighing in between 193 195 pounds right. Now i wear size large and pretty much. All outdoor jackets and you know regular. Clothing so the fit of the jacket is. Pretty basic its athletic a little bit. Roomier around the torso then the. Arc’teryx serum lt or cerium sl and. For those who haven’t seen that video you could look at the cerium sl hoody. First impressions review and comparison video now there is no hood adjustment. But the hood it’s pretty well collar. Comes up pretty you know pretty high. Right under the chin but still pretty. Comfortable the sleeves are nice and. Long even though I’m a fairly short guy. I have a 72-inch reach so the arms are. Long enough even though i have to put. Then over my head the one thing that i. Do miss with this jacket is the. Articulation of that sort of that sort. Of a diamond looking piece that arc’teryx has for articulation on their. Pieces which is not present here but the. Jacket is roomy enough and mobile enough. It’s a little shiny a little crinkly. This piece though i found that the seven. Didn’t ear fabric on the ghost whisperer. Is noticeably wind proof or more wind. Proof than the cerium sl hoody which is. Why i would choose this over this area. Msl hoodie $350. Eight and a half ounces and a lifetime. Warranty granted not the most convenient. Lifetime warranty which is all about. Patagonia for all of you people out there who want that best warranty as far. As i know how to go nia has the best warranty there is for outdoor gear really cool feature there just one hand. Drawstring action we release that draw cord as well. And you just pull with one hand to seal. In the air the hand pockets are also set. Above your hips or right by the hips. Technically speaking but it’s very easy. Just to bring that up and have your hip. Belt right under the pocket so you can. Still access items in your pockets. Anyway that’s about this it for this. Jacket and I’ll let you guys know in an. Update video later on once i receive. Either this jacket back repaired or a. New jacket or maybe a gift card however. They deal with it that’s one thing that. I will start reviewing on my channel is also the return process or warranty of. These items and i lost some video on. Some shoes hiking shoes that i returned. From vasc but I’ll be doing a lot more. Shoe and footwear reviews this coming. Year so stay tuned for those thank you. Very much for watching please like share and subscribe and I’ll see you next time. So after seasons used i mean after a. Seasons use here’s the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer just popped it in the. Washing machine I’m about to dry it. It’s interesting how looks almost like a. Windshield and some of the parts where the downs just compressed i kind of wish. That this was the color of the jacket it’s actually the lining or the backing. Just that nice dark loose anyway. Just taking some footage and I’ll show. You guys once the jackets nice and puffy using. Tennis balls to get the down to fluff. Back up just adding some video to the. Long term review of the hooded version of the ghost whisperer this is the 850. 800 fill and the face fabric has been. Really good but some of the stitching. Started to break off on this particular jacket I’m not sure how many reports. They get you know in terms of quality. Control but i see that this particular. Piece some of the stitching was coming. Off so I’ll be bringing this back to the retailer which is paragon sports and. Mounting hardware has a pretty decent. Policy at least it shows you know you can mail it back to them they’re going to take a look at it either repair or replace it just make sure that you don’t have the jacket prepared by yourself or. Somebody else because that does point the lifetime. So anyway I’ll be going to the top of. This little guy very windy 37 degrees. But with the windchill feels like 22. I’ve got a little zip top under this and. It’s holding up pretty well anyway that’s it for now and I’ll be showing. Updates and how do you guys know us well now that warranty is i think that should. Be part of the product reviews from now. On at least on my end it will be how easy is it to contact their customer service and how good they are at you. No basically standing behind their product all right so it’s really windy. Gonna have to set this down for now.

Easily thanks to the gusseted panels under the arms this means big movements. Won’t make it pull up too high it is longer in the back for extra coverage inside there is a grid pattern fleece that’s bonded to the outer fabric it’s. Great at wicking sweat the insulation on. The adds is light which means you should wear a mid layer underneath for frigid days a mid layer will also let the adze. Jacket wick moisture more effectively the main zipper is large and has big teeth so it’s unlikely to snag the two. Hand-warmer pockets are also zippered and have a breathable mesh interior the cuffs are sealed with a hook and loop closure the adze jacket is a comfortable. Soft shell that has the fit and feel of a fleece i bring this along if i was. Planning a winter hike where I’d be climbing mountains with wind and snow. Quickly there’s a subtle fleece grid backer on. The inside that gives a bit of insulation this material also wicks. Quite well soft shell fabric is really. Durable so it’ll hold up to backpack straps ropes and daily wear and tear. Because we all know how rough and tough we are on clothing the hand warmer. Pockets are set at a perfect height, and they’re a welcome relief for chilly hands the adjustment on the cuffs is. Convenient if you’re wearing gloves and you can cinch down the hem if you’re wearing a harness or a backpack with a hip belt the bottom won’t bow out what. Crystal here from get out their magazine and these are the merino 250 women’s bottom base layer by smart wall my first. Impression of these base layer pants they are way softer than i would have imagined last year i tested the women’s phd. Printed tights which included a combination of merino wool nylon and elastane for some reason i was expecting. The same type of material but that’s not the case at all this base layer is 100%. Merino wool creating a softer thinner material when compared to the phd printed tight there is however still a stretchiness to them that make them extremely comfortable the wider band at. The top that you can see here also adds to comfort level as you don’t get any of that uncomfortable pinching at your waist over the past six to eight weeks I’ve used these base layer pants for various outdoor adventures from hikes to snowshoeing to ice fishing and conditions ranging from plus five degrees Celsius to minus 25 degrees Celsius and I’ve definitely been impressed with their warmth and wear so you will find yourself getting a little too warm if you’re doing any brisk activity in weather above zero degrees Celsius what you need to know before buying any smart oil base layers is that they come in different warmth levels the. Merino 150s are created as a year-round base layer for milder weather whereas. The 250 s which is what i have here been for cool to cold weather though smart. Wool doesn’t get specific with actual temperature ranges use your best judgment on your personal activity level and what you’ll be using these base their pants most commonly for the 250 s have been a great choice for me considering the colder winter we’ve had and the fact that i still like to get active outside despite the cold that being said I’ve. Also found myself wearing them around the house they are just that comfortable in terms of wash and wear the base there. Bottoms have met my expectations I’ve washed these pants somewhere between 20 and 30 times at this point and have been only noticed minor balling along the scenes i should note I’m diligent about hang-drying any of my smart well products to keep them looking new and i do recommend that you do the same so for those of you looking to keep warm and active throughout the winter check out the smart wool merino 250. Bottom base layer for more information you can check out the website below and for greater gear reviews check out get out there magazines website and youtube channel You.
