Not four miles that would probably give me a better understanding of how the shoe feels but. At first glance or our first feeling for that short run i would say that they’re exceptionally made I’ve worn these for. About a week so far and i found that. They are pretty impressive in a variety. Of exercises where their weight training. Running just overall agility movements i. Found them to be of great quality in. Construction and design a lot of nice. Features on the vibram sole actually. Creates has a toe cap which prevents you. From basically hitting your toe on many items or by a jump rope i found that the. Tongue was cushioned and when doing long. Runs that it allowed for more comfort. Than probably a standard tongue that had. No cushioning at all also along with the upper half you have these elastic laces. Which again give and take. Or get contract when they are under. Stress and so it allows you to have more. Flexibility for your upper foot when. Running it doesn’t feel like you are actually constricting it that there is. More mobility to be had if you’ve. Reached a limit in your movement so that is good but that’s good. For running but not so good for dead. Lifting and squatting now i found that i. Was able to dead lift and squat with. These shoes fairly well i they again the. Sole provides for great grip it’s well. Made you know vibram makes five fingers which. Are known for having a great soul as well. And they make soles for a large majority. Of the footwear manufacturers. Conventional and minimalist so it’s. Great to have a nice quality sole to. Walk on and also it’s very flexible and. Because of the way the upper has been. Designed with this fabric mesh and a bit. Of the plastic reinforcement that we’ve. Seen on other shoes like the vivo barefoot primus light that it is a. Fairly lightweight and comfortable shoe. Again this shoe is made mostly with. Comfort for running in mind again the padding around the ankle is phenomenal. And well constructed there are no poor. Designs on the shoe i find that this. Shoe contains all the reinforcement. At the usual choke point when you look. At certain parts such as the extra. Stitching around many of what would be. Weaker points or stress points on shoes. So i found that they this shoe is well. Designed and well-thought-out and for. That give it a thumbs up if you are in the market for a bit of a mid-priced. Because i bought this about $60 it. Ranges from 60 to 80 depending on the colors that you choose and the of your feet on amazon if you’re looking. For a mid-range a mid-priced shoe with high quality this. Hey sneaker friends today I’m going to talk about the nike odyssey react so. This is the second nike running shoe to come out that has the react foam inside. It now I’m hoping that they improved all. The issues with the epic react let’s find out i ordered the odyssey on nikes. App i paid 120 dollars for it and i ordered a women’s size 7 and a half i do not feel like these fit true to size they are extremely tight in the mid-foot. I don’t like how it looks and i don’t. Like how it feels so i do recommend probably going up a half size it will be. A little bit long but i think the mid foot will be just much more comfortable a couple of the major things you’re gonna notice about the odyssey is the outsole now i got an all-black shoe but. You can tell by the finish that they added extra rubber this is a rubber piece this is a rubber piece and it seems like the heel is also extended forward so for everyone that was worried. About the mid sole wearing away and not having good traction they’ve put more rubber on the bottom now the rubber thickness is about two millimeters maybe closer to two and a half this rubber so thin it’s very hard to measure and the hardness of it is about 70 so it is similar it’s its a. Good durability it’s a nice hardness the mid sole the hardest of missile is about. 40 that was about the same as the epic react i didn’t feel under foot any difference between this and the epic react my epic reacts a little more worn in so it does feel a little sloppier the. Major thing that i noticed in the mid sole is on the medial side this black. Ran they had they extended it down and. That’s for stability so that i can’t. Perceive it just yet but after i put more miles on the shoe I’m sure that might be noticeable in the shoe being a little bit more stable this shoe has an engineered mesh upper so there’s no fly. Net in the shoe whatsoever so it’s engineered mesh it has a bootie in it. That provides a tongue which is you remember from the epic react it’s very difficult to get into this shoe is easy to get into there are no issues getting into the shoe but once you have it on this mid foot area is so thick and. So tight that i found it very uncomfortable i only ran a few miles in. This shoe because it was just way too tight around the mid foot one thing. You’ll notice on the odyssey is the heel counter it is firmer and more rigid than. The epic react the epoch react heel counter is a little bit soft and you can tell that they firmed it up a bit in this shoe it’s still an internal heel counter, but they do have this skin on. The outside showing it’s also a bit shorter, so they brought in the heel counter a little bit you can see it has a bit of a sharper angle right here the. Sock liner in the odyssey is identical. To the epic react just super thin molded. You’re not really getting much out of this a little bit of cushioning but protection from the strobel and the strobel stitch now you’ll notice the strobel in the shoe you can see the holes in it so that is an upgrade from the react and that is typically done so holes are cut into the strobel so that you get less weight so it’s a weight reduction technique and so you notice in. The odyssey you do have that you don’t have that in the epic react if we take a look at the weight of these shoes the. Right weighed 191 grams and the left. Weighed 185 grams now that’s six grams. Difference between the two shoes which is surprising for performance running that’s a little more than I’d like to see now if we remember the epic react the epic react weighed in at 186 grams. And 187 so I’m not sure what to think of. It because this left shoe was 185 so basically the same weight as the epic react but the right was 191 and having a. Look at both of these shoes this shoe to. Me it would seem like it should weigh significantly more than the epic react. But I’m gonna cover that off in my next video where i compare the odyssey to the react directly alright well that pretty many covers it for the odyssey this was. Hey guys how’s it going today i want to review my new balance minimus mt 10 v1 i. Got a pretty good deal on these shoes and I’ll leave a link in the description below to where i got it from if you want. To check that out so the new balance minimus mt 10 v ones these were brought. Back by popular demand from new balance. Because they made a bunch of other versions and everybody loved this one the most and when they stopped making it everybody whined about it, so they brought them back which is great because they’re awesome minimal trail running shoes now they call them trail running shoes, but they can really be used for running or just everyday walking around one nice thing. About them and probably the best thing about them is the comfort new balance make some really comfortable shoes and these are probably the most comfortable minimal running shoes that I’ve ever worn the toe box is really wide so you get that full compression on. Your foot when you’re walking or running and it just makes it really comfortable now need to have a little. Thicker sole than some minimal shoes but. The nice thing about that is they are more durable and the tread will wear a. Lot slower than a lot of the other. Minimal running shoes I’ve tried another nice thing too is new balance makes wide. Sizes of these too so if you have wide. Feet you can get them in these shoes most other minimal walking running. Sheers don’t offer wide sizes the fit. And feel of these are really good they’re really nice looking shoes too you can kind of wear them with anything, and they actually look pretty good no matter if you’re dressed up or not i mean you probably would want to wear them with a suit but just everyday they look really good but for fit and feel and durability wise. The mt 10 v ones are my new favorite. Minimal running shoe i would recommend if you get them go a size up they tend. To run just a little bit small and if you’re new to minimal running shoes definitely order a size up just because after you wear them for a long time your feet will tend to stretch out just a little bit and you’ll be glad you. What you guys are really doing design wise is still a good tight fit in the. Heel and the instep but doing much more. Of an anatomical slightly wider toe box really how the foots actually shape yeah i think that’s really one of the unique things about the mt two is that i. Like to have a roomy toe box your toes can spread and splay but a lot of times in a shoe like that you have a shoe that fits a little sloppy in the back the level of security to feel fast and. Nimble i think you still need to feel really connected in the back half and through the waist and the shoe so i like that sensation that puts you know tight security through here but lots of room up front so your toes. Better sense of control yeah i was blown. Away by how light this is he’s dog great trail tread can handle couple miles of road no problem but you. No really good grip underfoot but it. Was really to me like how light this loves specially the level of cushioning 23 millimeters in the heel 20 in the. Forefoot so you’re doing a little bit of moss that’s three millimeters millimeter you’re not completely stuck into a zero. Drop and you’re right building you know also about traditional shoes and the 12 millimeter right everything for us is really between that zero and five millimeters that’s where we have put everything so this kind of falls in the middle of that is a three millimeter cool and you guys have a full range of. Shoes I’m kind of at the other end of the spectrum you have something definitely more protective yeah so this is a this is a shoe so the one we were looking at was the m22 this is a shoe called the hydra venture it has some similar characteristics so. Like material through here so you don’t have rocks or roots x-raying up through the sole we open it up in the mid foot so you have a little bit of torsional flex so it doesn’t force you to roll an ankle or twist doesn’t add a lot of weight. This shoe still comes in at about nine ounces one of the key characteristics in. This shoe this is a waterproof shoe we use a vent waterproof membrane here the. Membrane is actually laminated directly. To the mesh so unlike you know some. Waterproof shoes you’d build a full bootie yep and you cement that bootie to. The effort can make it a little hard well in this case the upper is actually quite supple and soft so it allows the foot to still move and work in a natural way well and it also makes the shoe lighter so again coming in at just barely over nine ounces an issue for. Hey guys what’s going on today I’m going. To be reviewing the topo athletic ultra. Ventures this shoe is pretty fantastic. If i had one way of describing this shoe. I would have to say that it is the love. Child of a an ultra and a hoca it does. Come in at ten point four ounces so it. Might be slightly on the heavier side even though ten point four ounces is. Pretty stinking light there is a five. Millimeter heel to toe drop so you’re starting off at thirty in the back twenty-five in the front and that’s where i would say it’s kind of emulate soar resembles a hookah but it does have. That traditional foot shaped or wider. Then normal toe box and tomiko toe box keeping that great toe and alignment. Letting that kind of be your anchor point for your foot and letting the other toes splay out in here this shoe i. Really can’t speak too much on anything. Bad about this shoe i haven’t had a bad. Experience and it this particular pair has 310 miles on it and then i have a. Brand new pair over here which I’d be. Hard-pressed at any point in time of my life to buy another pair of the exact. Some shoe and the exact same color so. Anyway that should tell you something this shoe has gotten me through a lot of. Long runs i kind of got the shoe to try. Out for a training cycle for double. Dalek ultras unfortunately i got really cold in the race and so anyway i made it. 100k out of 100 miles but it had nothing to. Do with the shoe it’s very money on the trails that day very cold very wet the shoe outperform. Itself it comes with a v boom as you can. Basically drainage ports so whenever you. Get water in your shoe every step from that point I’m gonna act kind of like you’re forcing the water. Our kind of pumping the water out of your shoe with your own steps i have. Noticed i have gotten these shoes very wet have noticed that they do drain. Really well and also the new upper as. Well as this has given the shoe a more. Comfortable temperature anyway some. People have complained about taupe was being very warm this shoe especially. With the new porthole insole I’m. Getting a little worth of light marketing in there with the new. Porthole insole has actually become a lot more. Comfortable temperature-wise i did get the shoe right when the weather was changing so it was still kind of warm and it’s felt fine through coming up. Here now in the 30s all right not too. Cold here in virginia anyway there is a. Gator attachment in the back so it’s kind of weird looking topo brandied. Gator attachment here got hook little. Places for the hooks and I’ll show you. With the gators on these so I’ve got. These hooks that kind of walk in there and then the gator like a normal gator. Pulls over and it attaches too wherever. You need in the front it’s a lot easier than this when you have one anyway so there you go. With the gator attachment and that is a. Topo branded gator attachment these would work with any other type of gators you would just have to do your traditional velcro and i actually did so. In velcro on these so i could use them on the magnifies are the magnet flies. Twos anyway alright. The tongue is fully gusseted I’ll show you on the other pair that son just. Fully gusseted meaning it is sewn in and. So that prevents a lot of the sliding around of the tongue and bunching and. Creating hot spots and i really haven’t noticed any hot spots in this shoe the. Upper is three pieces sorry i think already said that but anyway the eba. Upper or sole is three pieces you’ve got. Kind of little bit firmer sole here or. Aba here a little bit softer in the back and even though this would traditionally. Mean that this is a stability shoe or a guidance shoe this piece is still just. Maybe a hair firmer than up here and i. Have a neutral foot and this i haven’t felt like there’s any guidance or anything like that this shoe again is called the ultra venture meaning it’s out it’s going to. Be marketed towards someone who’s going. To be out there maybe more on an ultra run or ultra marathon and when they’re. Fatigued their foot kind of hits the. Ground a little bit differently so it’s kind of it might give you a little bit of guidance but not enough to where it’s gonna throw off your gait i have like i. Said 310 miles in this pair of shoe and so normal wear and tear i did really. Really try to destroy this pair I’ve got. A little wear back here I’ve got a. Little wear right here where there’s a. Couple like a couple holes for me but this is about the time when I’d be retiring a pair of shoes anyway and for a trail pair that i literally beat the heck out of it’s surpassed a lot of my. Expectations i don’t normally run in a five. Millimeter drop i don’t know why i just didn’t say this earlier but this she. Doesn’t really feel like a five millimeter drop it’s taken a lot of stress off my Achilles because it is a. Five millimeter but at the same time there’s enough cushioning in it to where it almost feels zero ish drop I’m not. Gonna say it does because i don’t want to give you the impression that it is a. Zero drop or it would crush down to being a zero drop like the heel would be that soft but it does kind of. Feel like it hooks on to your foot a little bit better than a lot of other shoes out there is enough cushion here in the back to give you a nice heel. Cup and kind of lock your heel down in there now i would give it you know a. Couple strides out there to let it adjust before you tighten it down anymore if you did feel a little heel slipping one other thing i really wanted. To point out there is no rock plate in here and there are a couple cutouts to give it a little bit more flexibility but if you do step on something that. Sharp there’s enough cushion in here that’s gonna give you that protection and you might feel it but it’s not gonna hurt you’re too much to the point where you get like a stone bruise i have stepped on very sharp things and how it. Had any issues and then one thing that i really enjoyed about this shoe was with this aggressive outsole i stepped on a. Couple routes this way and had i not had. This type of little slightly you know. More aggressive outsole that they’ve been putting on the new trail line for. Toboe anyway i might have slipped off. That but that route but i actually kind of caught it and so i was able to prevent some foot rolling because of that it did take me a little bit of time to get used to if you’re not traditionally used to running in a more. Aggressive outsole because there’s just slightly more clearance underfoot so. You’re getting the 25 and 30 but then. You have an additional maybe 5 millimeters here and i have run on this. On-road a few times i haven’t felt the grip so i feel like. Guard this is basically a lightweight plate that is going to protect on stone. Bruising so as this shoe flexes if. You’re in areas that is really rocky and. That you need that it’s definitely going to help on stone bruising it’s positioned underneath of the sock liner so you. Still get all the cushioning there and all the breath ability of your sock liner but it goes underneath of there so you can really have an ultra-lightweight option if you’re not in areas that are really rocky another. Very obvious feature about ultra running shoes is the foot shaped toe box you. Have a very wide toe box here and they. Give you plenty of room in your big toe area so when you’re on the trail for. Long days when you’re on different camber trails your feet and your toes. Need to move around and this gives you plenty of room for your toes to splay. And that can really cut down on bruising. And that can cut down on injury as well. So plenty of room there in your toe box. Obviously you’ve got lightweight eyelets and laces that go up so you can really cinch those down to lock in your heel. Towards the back of the shoe on the back towards the heel you have the gator trap that pairs up really well with ultra. Trail gators to keep debris out of your shoes and it’s just lightweight velcro. There and is a nice added feature to. Keep the shoe in mice and lightweight you’ve got breathable mesh here through. The top as you can see they’re extremely. Flexible so if you’re looking for a responsive shoe that gives you just enough cushioning and just enough tread. There to spend all day on the trail and. Is right on top of the mid sole so. Basically the part of the shoe that kind. Of comes into contact with your foot is a really cushion there and then it’s a little bit stiffer below that gives two. Different types of materials in there if you take a look at where the mid sole. Meets the outsole here under your foot you have a gridded inner flex group in. There and you can actually see part of the mid sole and that really gives a lot. Of responsiveness to this shoe so you. You a stone guard this is removable so you can take it out if you want to make the shoes even lighter weight but when you’re on those trails that have sharp rocks you can use this to prevent one. Stone bruising you also have a removable. Sicklier here it’s nice and lightweight. They give some extra padding and it even. Breathe a little bit so you know you can. Wick away sweat with that it’s removable if you have your own insoles that you want to use you can use those too but. These kind of work in tandem to give you. A little bit of extra padding and then that stone guard on the bottom really protects from rocks i found these to be. Really breathable so the upper part of the shoe here the fabrics are really. Lightweight to cut down on that weight, but they’ve kind of beefed up the. Fabrics where you need it most so right here around the edge around the toe you. Do have a stiffer more durable material. You’ve got overlays on the shoe where you need it especially here in the back. Where your shoes might come into contact with each other they’ve really got that. Durable material there so in the places that have the most wear they’ve got. Durable materials, but they really cut down on the weight here by giving you a very breathable upper lightweight. Eyelets lightweight laces. And i found these shoes to really cradle your foot so even though you have a really wide toe that box up here you’ve. Got a nice tight feel that when you cinch the shoes down your heel goes right into the heel of the shoe and it. Stays there and then through the middle part of the shoe you can really cinch down those laces while still allowing your toes to splay in the front which is probably my favorite part about ultra shoes you do have a gator trap here in the back that’s a velcro tab that you. Can attach to the ultra trail running gators if you wear those are nice. And lightweight as well so overall you’ve got a really responsive lightweight shoe you have the adaptability to use that rock plate which is really nice and overall a. Little shoe alright let’s start with my favorite part see the forefoot they call it foot shape actually looks like your foot allows you to spread your toes out in there and actually use your metatarsals when you’re running i love that also allows you to kind of have a snug shoe without hitting the end of the. End of the shoe or having cramping in the forefront i love that other cool stuff if you’re if your run in the winter and you’re into and you’re running in the rain you can attach your gator to the front to the side to the. Other side to the stern okay four points. Of contact, they call it the gator trap very cool the other thing i really feel when you’re running in this shoe is you see the difference color different color. And the rubber on the bottom because they’ve got this one scored horizontally so you feel like it has a really nice. Flex pattern right where you want it to right when you hit it’s right in the ball of your foot for a good takeoff and easy you know easy flex right there but. It’s also got a bomber heel with a little extra sole so when you. No come and steep and you got to put the brakes on it’s got a little cleat there for you so ultimately really. So the for later vapor how is a pact. That i used when i want to be light and fast and i use it in 50k 50-mile races. It’s got the bottles on the front, so they’re easy to fill up in a race where. You’ve got an aid station every couple miles it’s nice and light so it’s not. Overkill for a 50k so anything from an. Hour to two hours I’m using for later. Pack and i usually carry with me water. In both of the bottles a couple gels and then usually some dog treats for my dog and you know i can comfortably fit all of that and it still feels really light almost like i don’t have anything on so. I plan on using the 12 liter vapor howl. And a lot of my longer races this season. Particularly utmb ultra-trail du mont. Blanc is a race in xi amen a france and. It’s a hundred miles and they require. You to carry quite a bit of gear you know just because you’re out in the mountains literally all day and all. Night the 12th liter pack comfortably holds all the gear i need and i plan. To use it for that race and in the training runs leading up to that race as well so one of my favorite things about the 12 liter pack is its ability to. Carry a lot of gear yet it’s still low-profile you know you have that ability to take a lot with you but you also have the ability for the pack to stay light.
