Designed with minimal bulk in mind, the Arc’teryx Women’s Beta SL Hybrid Jacket lends itself to lightweight backpacking, backcountry tours, and climbing trips where saving pack space is essential. Two different fabrics maximize protection from the elements while maintaining durability and lightweight efficiency. Functional details, including a helmet-compatible StormHood, laminated DryCuffs, and WaterTight zippers, seal out the elements without weighing you down.
Responsible for its lightweight feel, Gore-Tex 2-layer Paclite construction repels oncoming rain and snow while minimizing bulk in your pack. It’s reinforced with stronger Gore-Tex 3-layer construction along high-wear areas, meaning it’ll withstand the abuse of strenuous outdoor activities. Another big upgrade, the Gore-Tex C-Knit backer maintains an ultra-supple feel while improving the jacket’s overall breathability. Ultimately, this combination of two different Gore-Tex fabrics keeps you blissfully dry during inclement conditions—all without the heft and crinkly feel of standard Gore-Tex jackets.

How’s it going everyone handy here and today what i have on will be doing a. Preview of this is the architects beta. Lt hybrid jacket so there’s nothing. Wrong with my patagonia torque shell with which i normally use and you know i. Just wanted a jacket that was more. Durable jacket and more of a shell for. Winter time which that’s the reason why i got this wintertime is just around the corner i just got my snowboard pass. Yesterday which I’m pretty excited about. And yeah I’m just slowly kind of. Acquiring some more outdoor winter time. Of year i really don’t have so let’s go. Into this jacket and show you guys what. This thing is all about so this Jackie uses two types of. Gore-tex it uses a vortex pack light for. The main body and then you can see it in a high use areas like such as up here. Under the pitts run back they use a n. 40th p which is a 3 l tricot technology. I don’t know what that means but it’s apparently a more durable gore-tex than pack last pack light it. Packs more just as the name says. Pack light so let’s go into some. Features on this jacket so one feature that i really like about this jacket are the locations of the hand pockets so. Normally the hand pockets are gonna be located right here where the hip belt is located and can’t really get to it so. Our tareq’s put the pockets right here. So you can keep your hands like this nice and warm and still have your hip. Belt strapped to you and your and your sternum strap is on as well with. Really like that idea and you can see. Where they have the high use or the high wear areas that’s they have it on the. Shoulders for shoulder straps so when. You have all that rubbing on your pack. It you know it’s more vertical fabric so. I’m the zippers here they used a watertight zipper which you can see and. The main zipper down the front. They used a watertight vislon zipper and. You can see it for these hands if herbs. The zippers go into a little garage up. Here so you can be watertight as. Possible let’s show you guys the pit zips here they’re all waterproof pit. Zips these are ideal to have in a jacket. To just open it up and just let some of. That steam out when you need to they. Really did a great job with the ergonomics of this jacket and the trim. Of it’s not it’s not too bulky and it. Looks looks like a nice fitting jacket. You can still lift your hands up and. That jacket still covers the back. Portion so you can even see from a lateral view compared to the anterior. And posterior you can see that the posterior is actually longer back here. So but when you’re reaching up it’s. Still covered alright now let’s go into. The hood of this jacket so first off. With the hood off this is very. Comfortable around here and so let’s put. The hood on it’s a very large head this is compatible with helmets so you can see how large it is with none of the. Courts cinch down so it is quite large. But once you cinch it them down. It conforms to your head very well so. You can see how i could turn and the. Hood still stays on your head very well it’s just like the patagonian jacket. It’s got a cord around here and cord. Around here as well so you can pull this. Pull it back here and it’s also got a. Very nice laminated hood so around the. Waist here you can see there’s little waist poles so you just grab these. Around both sides and just pull out. And it tightens dramatically keeps all. The air from coming out keeps the heat in so i got this jacket to be my main. Shell for this winter like i said and underneath i do have my puffy jacket. Which you can see it and there’s still plenty of room to actually put some more. Layers underneath this jacket it very. Excited to use this motor time especially you can pull these tie it cinches around the waist keeps the heat inside keeps me warm keeps me dry okay. I’m probably gonna even use this jacket. Snowboarding honestly i do you have. Another insulated jacket. But this one’s definitely more waterproof nice the wintertime you just. Keep your snowboard goggles in here. There yeah you get your goggles in there look like you get a little stomach but. Just showing you how large these pockets are they’re very large go into here so. It starts up here and all the way down. Down to here it’s a fairly large jacket. They’re fairly large pockets head i mean. So as you can see all the seams. On this jacket are seam sealed and as well. The adjustable wrist things that go. Around your wrist there alright guys. Well it’s the end of the video so what you guys can look forward to you on the next coming videos in the next few months and then this month you’re gonna. Be doing a to probably three night. Backpacking trip you know ultralight trip a couple people well it’s gonna be really exciting and fun and also be on. The lookout this winter we’re gonna be doing a lot more things this winter we’re gonna be doing snowboarding we’re gonna be doing snowshoeing we’re gonna be doing backpacking we’re gonna be. Building snow caves we’re gonna be. Setting off avalanches do an avalanche. Courses and I’m sure building snowmen. And just testing out my gear like this. Think definitely report back to you guys in a couple months to be doing a lot of use on it so yeah that’s what you guys can look forward to in the next few months pretty exciting for winter time to come and I’m just ready for it to be. Here already so yeah if you guys have any comments questions feel free to let me know and have a good one go out and explore.

Keep your core toasty with the Rab Microlight Down Vest whether you’re belaying during an alpine ascent, trekking across a chilly landscape, or skiing on a frigid powder day. Insulated with 750-fill European goose down, the Microlight is remarkably warm given how incredibly lightweight it is. The down is also hydrophobic so it doesn’t get soggy and lose its effectiveness in wet weather. Pertex Microlight fabric is extremely lightweight and surprisingly durable so you don’t have to worry about ruining it when it snags on a branch.
It’s also highly packable and has a slim fit so it doesn’t take up a ton of space in your pack or feel bulky when you wear it under a technical shell. The armholes are bound with Lycra to keep cold wind out when you reach the top of the mountain, and its hem has a drawcord so you can tighten it to keep out chilly gusts. The vest’s chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack so you can take this vest with you anywhere without taking up much space.
A little bit of cold weather never stopped you from taking the dogs out on a snowshoe expedition around the local lake, and thanks to the Mountain Hardwear Women’s Stretchdown Down Jacket, your ambitions to get outside are officially unstoppable. Catering to most, if not all, of your cold weather pursuits, this jacket features a lightweight yet robust stretch-knit fabric that provides weather-resistant protection and unrestricted mobility, and can be worn as a single layer or underneath a waterproof shell in seriously inclement weather. The Q.Shield down insulation is fortified with a water-resistant coating that protects the down from precipitation, which ensures unlimited versatility. And perhaps the most important and discerning feature is the stretch welded channel construction that not only discourages biting winds from penetrating your core warmth, but assures ample temperature regulation and furnace-like fervor even on the coldest winter days.
Hey everyone dave with endearment khamir. Today we’re checking out the mountain hardwear stretch down rs hoodie now the. Mountain hardwear stretch down series is their latest iteration of down jacket brand-new for fall of 2016 and it is. Quickly becoming our favorite jacket there are two different styles there’s the rs which is one we have on right now there’s also the regular stretch down and I’ll tell you the difference between the two in a second but the most. Important part of the stretch down jacket is that it stretches obviously that’s part of the name so you can see i can feel the stretch as I’m drawing my. Arms around here and that stretch comes from on the rs this in turn it fabric. Here it’s got a little bit of mechanical stretch in it still remains down for the. Regular stretch down has that knit fabric on both the inside and the outside so the actual the regular stretch down will have a little bit more stretch than the rs does on the outside the rs has a 15 denier ghost light. Tiptop nylon that’s mountain hardwear’s proprietary fabric and it has a nice twr. On it even if the water gets inside the face fabric you have mountain hardwear’s. Q shield down this case a 750 fill on. The inside and that means that it will stay dry longer it will dry more quickly. And it will stay a little bit lofty r when it does get wet all great features now you can see here these baffles have. No stitching on them they use what’s called a bonded channel construction that’s something that mount hardware in columbia developed so no stitch between. The baffles mean that there are no. Little holes for air to get through and four down to get out awesome little bit of technology there as far as the rest. Of the features on this jacket goes you have a nice napoleon pocket pretty deep there you have a couple of hand warmer. Pockets on either side of the jacket here and on the right side you have a reversible zipper or the pull on the inside so you can stuff the jacket into the pocket when you want to stash it away somewhere you also have a nice hood on the hooded version scuba style this is all elastic. Around here so there’s no draw cord to cinch things down but see it keeps it pretty tight across my face feels pretty good nice and warm draw strings around. The hem though captive cord locks so. They won’t get all dangly and in the way or snag on anything I’m about 510 and. About 230 pounds right now jacket fits. Me pretty well although this could use a. Little bit of extra length and that’s just i don’t have exceptionally long arms so if you’re a longer arm person. Than i am you might run into a problem there the stretch down comes in a hooded. Version and a non hood version in both the regular stretch down on the rs that we have you can pick up both the stretch down and the stretch down rs and put it. In a non hooded jacket and if you stop. By the website we’ll have a full review laid out for you with all the specs the weights msrp s and links to where you can buy them at the best price from the best vendors thanks for stopping by NGE r minh hope you’ll check us out again soon. You.
Down is a ridiculously efficient insulator you can see right here this plume that I’m holding in my hand it’s got the incredible ability to trap a lot of warmth and maintain efficiency in that way and it’s almost weightless it. Does have one particular shortcoming down has the inability to maintain and. Even trap warmth when it gets wet while. It’s a magnificently efficient insulator. It has this one sort of Achilles heel, and we’ve got a new solution to address that killer tape I’m holding a plume of. Q shield down in my hand right here it looks just like ordinary down he said if. We were to get in at a microscopic level we’d be able to see that each individual. Facet of this plume is coated with a dwr. Material durable water repellency that. Makes it so this plume now resists water. Penetration and thereby stays drier much. Longer than an ordinary plume of down would we have a rain room here at. Headquarters that we use to test tents. Sleeping bags garments and so what we’ve. Gone taking some q shield down that aren’t built to be waterproof, but they incorporate waterproof down and. We’ve run through the rain just to validate the fact that that down will. Continue to resist moisture even under extreme duress and it’s you know. They’ve come out with flying colors over. Your standard non-treated down our suite. Of technology platforms that we work with now all operate under a. Problem-solving premise and then deliver the most advanced solutions that are available to us so if you’re out on night one and you’re on a ski touring. Trip you down works flawlessly by nine. Six we’re down has absorbed water incrementally day over day you. Take q shield down night one and ninety. Six are the exact same it’s just as effective at the end of that week as it would be at the beginning and you can’t say that about regular untreated now no matter how good a quality. You.

Adam here forget out their magazine today i am bringing you a comparative review of two down-filled jackets by mountain hardwear Over here we have the ghost whisperer down hooded jacket and on this side we have the stretch down rs hooded jacket let’s break down what it’s similar first. At first glance you think that these may be the same jacket both uses similar fabric the rs is slightly thicker fabric in the whisper but both are extremely thin and feel like they could rip easily. But let me tell you they’re surprisingly durable after extensive use i have yet. To fiber rip and either of these jackets now each has a drawstring waist and each. Has similar down fill and provides. Similar warmth 750 down fill for the rs. And 800 for the whisper both have mountain hardwear’s q shield down which is treated to be water repellent however both jackets soak throughout their two hours in a wet snowfall finally both. Have down-filled hoods which do not have draw strings, but they do stay on tight even in high winds and that’s really where the similarities end the whisper has an active fit which is. Really tight to the body where the rs of the performance fit which is more room through the waist shoulders and arms for reference I’m five-eleven 185 pounds in both jackets are size medium the whisper. Is the world’s lightest down hooded jacket well at least that’s what the mountain hardwear website says so don’t quote me on that but it is extremely light it only weighs in at 7.7 ounces. Where the rs is also very light but it’s. Almost double the weight at fourteen point nine ounces to keep the weight down the whisper has a minimalistic design and only two zippered hand pockets while the rs has two zippered. Hand pockets a zippered chest pocket in the internal mesh pockets the cuffs are. Both very different drs has a traditional small outer elastic while the whisper has a unique design with the down fill all the way to the end of the sleeve and it has a hidden elastic inside the cuff to keep it in place surprisingly i found this was much better to keep the cuff in place during activity than the rs cuff a neat feature of the ghost whisperer is its ability to be stored away in its own pocket it folds up to the size of a large water bottle which makes it super convenient on days when the temperature or your activity level maven the rs is a version of mountain hardwear’s new stretch down line and to. Be honest i didn’t find there to be much stretch in this fabric however i did find it to be pretty comfortable at the end of the day i found the stretch down rs jacket to be great for leisure activities like walking the dog and hiking as well as general wear around town i also have had many compliments on. The style of this jacket on the other hand the ghost whisperer jacket has not had any compliments for the look and that may be due to the color but it is a way better choice for someone who’s looking for a down-filled jacket to be active in i have found this also to be. Useful as a mid layer under a hard shell jacket because of its nugget let it sit from the outside these jackets are very similar however depending on your use they are quite distinct so hopefully this video helped clarify that for you know if you’d like more information on either of these two jackets or any other mountain hardwear products please visit their website listed in the description below You.

Hey guys this is ari and today we’re. Gonna be talking about all-time hey guys. Is ari with ny gear review and today we’re gonna be talking about the patagonia nano-air hoody the jacket. Comes in at 385 grams or 13.6 ounces it. Is super lightweight the outside fabric. Is a 100% nylon ripstop it’s super. Stretchy it forms with your body i can’t. Speak highly enough about this outer and inner fabric the outer fabric i believe. Is a 2010 year and the inside is 50 so. It has a little bit more of that smooth touch this is a synthetic jacket so the. Difference between synthetic and down you know is that down loses a lot of its. Insulation properties when wet this is not going to affect this jacket though because it’s a synthetic so i am 6-3 185. Pounds and this is a size large it fits. Terrific you know patagonia sometimes has a little bit of a sizing issue just and then i find that some of their clothing can be a little bit baggy r in. The waist area the top has a zipper garage so it stopped any chafing against your neck you have to external hand warmer pockets and to external chest. Pockets i love them both some of the cons about this jacket and there aren’t many is the cuffs as you can see when i. Hang my hand at my side there’s a little. Bit of bunching of the fabric at the cuffs now there is an update to this. Jacket that’s being released right now i think it got released like last month by patagonia it’s an update to the outer fabric it has this fabric sometimes. Gets a little pilly again i could not care less this is a phenomenal external fabric and then on the new cuffs what they’ve done is added sort of. More fitted cuff without this elastic. And piece here so for the pricing on this jacket it comes in and a whopping. $299 so it’s a lot of money you know and. With new york sales tax you know it’s. More than that so it’s an expensive jacket for sure you can get this current. On the past seasons past season product. Because of the update with the new one you can get this current jacket for one. A Hundred and forty-nine hundred seventy-nine dollars on patagonia comm and you can probably get for even cheaper in some places like back country or musa in summary this jacket i would give it easily a ten out of ten I’ve had no issues with it i put it through the. Ringer for sure I’ve had it over a year now and it’s just a phenomenal piece of. Outerwear i can’t recommend it enough okay guys well thanks so much for stopping by please subscribe below if. You’d like to see more gear review videos, and we’ll see you next time. You.
Hey guys it’s jimmy today i’m going to be bringing you a comprehensive review of the nano air jacket by patagonia patagonia nano air is a synthetic active. Layer that remains relatively warm but keeps you incredibly dry and comfortable. As you can see this is the non hooded. Version although there is also a hooded. Version as well the synthetic jacket is made from patagonia’s full-range insulation which is comparable but not quite as warm as the primaloft gold inside patagonia’s nano puff jacket the. Full range insulation has two advantages over such synthetics as mechanical. Stretch and it is very breathable unlike the nano puff which performs best. As a mid layer the nano air excels as an active outer layer for cool temperatures this is primarily due to the breathability of this jacket which has an air permeability rating of 40 cfm which means 40 cubic feet of air can pass through a square foot of fabric according to the astm e 737 standard i. Read an independent test report that suggests this air permeability figure is upwards of 170 cfm regardless of the lab. Measured air permeability in practice. This jacket provides little wind resistance which can be a good or bad thing depending on the scenario for your. Education manufacturers will often use mbt r moisture vapor transmission rates. To describe the breathability of their waterproof breathable jackets so don’t. Get confused with that however the nano. Air does have a dwr durable water repellent coating help shed a little precipitation in light sprinkles or. Moderate snowfall while keep this jacket on without a rain jacket or hard shell the dwr has held up well over several washings though it is gone in the high. Wear areas as far as the little details go the nano-air has a soft a zipper garage at. The chin. According to hem with a toggle on each side two zippered hand pockets that. Would be partially blocked by hip belts. They’re proposed for use with gloves. Lots of size cuffs. And a zippered chest pocket that can. Hold a large cellphone like my iphone 7 plus also the hooded version actually has two zippered pockets the weight. First size small is eleven point four. Ounces patagonia informed me that the specified 12 and a half ounce wave is first size medium the msrp of the non. Hooded jacket is $249 and the hooded. Jacket is $299 however this does come. With patagonia’s ironclad guarantee in. Addition patagonia has an image of being a socially responsible and environmentally friendly company if that matters to you now let’s talk about the. Things that i like about this jacket number one is fit the small fits me. Perfectly i’m 5 foot 9 155 pounds with a. 37 inch chest and 31 inch waist i like. That the arms are cut high so that the jacket doesn’t lip so much when i raise my arms i think climbers will really appreciate this. Number two comfort this is the most. Comfortable jacket i’ve ever worn the mechanical stretch is fantastic and gives me full range of motion and the breathability of the jacket helps keep me dry even when i do bursts of intense effort the only way that it could be more comfortable is if it weighs half as much number three build quality no. Stitches or seams have come undone yet after eight months of considerable wear which is a first for me i suspect that. The stretching helps disperse forces that would otherwise be concentrated at the seams number four compressibility. It’s not as good as a light high fill. Power down jacket as shown here which is my mountain hardwear it goes whisperer but it’s not bad i’ve always found a way. To stuff this into tight spaces when i don’t need it number five resistance to. Snagging i’ve bush blacked a fair amount. With this jacket and it has never once gotten caught on anything this was a big surprise me because the jacket fabric looks soft and very snag prone number. Six the elasticized cuff is very stretchy which is great when i’m wearing a big watch like my garmin phoenix 3 all. Right so now just a couple of things that i dislike about this jacket number. One is durability although the outer material manages to avoid snagging on anything it is starting to fill in some of the higher wear areas like the shoulders and waist you know areas that my backpack will rub against for the last eight months is good my go-to jacket for fall and winter backpacking trips and as a casual jacket in town i feel as though i’ve put the jacket through more and this time than the average person would also the jacket. Is pilling inside the hand pockets sometimes my fingers get a little dry around the fingernails and this catches on the soft fabric which is the same material as the inside lining number two. Is breathability breathability is a double-edged sword it’s great when you’re sweaty but when it’s very windy the breathability of this jacket may be undesirable in that scenario you’ll want to throw a windbreaker over this jacket i found that the nanowire jacket performs at its best in cold temperatures with low to moderate winds it’s hard to define an. Exact temperature range for this jacket but for me the nano air by itself was. Comfortable for about 40 fahrenheit down to 15 fahrenheit which is 5 celsius down to minus 10 celsius and this was during periods of moderate exertion based on this review. Of the nano air you may be wondering whether you could achieve similar performance with just a fleece or perhaps a fleas paired with a windbreaker i think you can but it will. Weigh a bit more on the plus side you get layering versatility out of the fleece and windbreaker combo and not to mention the assortment of fleeces and windbreakers available on the market. Sometimes you just need a single jacket. That does a bit of everything because it is the most comfortable active layer i’ve used to date i find myself reaching for the patagonia nano air before any other jacket my closet thanks for watching this review. And please feel free to leave me a comment in the section below. You.
Everybody can talk real quick about one. Of my favorite pieces of adventure clothing this is the patagonia nano air. Jacket so it’s nice and lightweight. Similar to any of their nano puffs if. You’ve had a nano puff before it’s. Synthetic insulation which is great it. Will hold its warmth when it gets wet if. It gets wet and the main difference. Between this and say regular nano puff. Jacket is it has a stretchable fabric so. You’ve got a lot more play in the theme. It actually moves there so you’re not as. Constricted and it has a very high. Readability rating it’s rated at 40. Cfm so maybe that’s cubic feet per meter. I’m not quite sure but it’s 60 grams per. Mole off insulation like most of their. Nano puff hoodies i like the ones. Without a hood super comfortable this is. A medium for size I’m about 510 and a. Half and 165 pounds a couple jat a. Couple pockets on the jacket you as well. Have a nice one up here it’s covered. With a dwr water-resistant spray and if. You’re wondering how functional that is I’ve had this coat for about a month and. You can actually just see it beat off so. I use this a lot for bike commuting and. Camping you get pretty warm when you’re. Biking but I’ve also noticed this holds. Heat really well i can usually wear if it’s anywhere from you know 20 to say 45. Degrees out i can wear just a nice capilene base layer and this and if i. Have a nice rain jacket that’s also breathable to block the wind then i find. This was plenty warm that’s the other difference with the breath ability of this versus say a nano puss it also looks a little bit more air. In but it’s also i mean they’re just fantastic it’s extremely lightweight they rate these at three hundred and. Fifty four grams which is about twelve and a half ounces and if you’re not. Familiar with patagonia they do a lot of web specials so i got this on sale i. Think for one hundred and forty dollars where msrp is two hundred and fifty the. Ones with the hoods are just a little bit more but my friend got his with a hood, and he got it for about the same price as me and you got a look patagonia. They are very sustainable company they. Actually encourage you to send your. Products back in if they need mending or fixing as opposed to just throwing them. Away they also as far as the company. They do a lot of work with other countries, and they’re all about fair. Wages and which is really good for. Developing countries so their products are made all over the world, and they stand behind their products 100 cent, and they also if you have to send a garment. In and they can’t fix it they’ll do something to compensate you and what they’ll do with that whole garment has turned it into something else so you can feel really good about paying a little bit of extra money for something that is probably going to last you 10 to 20. Years maybe your entire life depending on your activities and when you’re done you don’t have to worry about it end up in a landfill and you can probably get the newest cool thing just notice. These guys look like we have some. Inches for the bottom so if you want to. Stop the maybe you’re right it’s a. Little cold or you’re rock climbing you can finish up the bottoms only thing i. Do not like about this jacket is that it does not come with a stuffed pocket like some of the nano puffs so from what I’ve. Done before is I’ve brought in a little dry bag and I’ll just. Cram it in their much like a sleeping bag i think it’ll go down to about this big but that’s definitely not a deal-breaker absolutely love this jacket. Patagonia nano air jacket check it out. Hi this is daniel with hiking the ozarks. I’m here today to talk to you about the ark tech gamma ar pants these are a soft shell type of pant really a three season kind of pan. Through a brush lined on the inside which adds a little bit of warmth to them but not more of like a police line like a four season pant would be so i really like these especially in the fall especially in the spring and actually in the ozarks here where it’s not overly cold in the winter i can get away with them most of the year but in other colder climates are probably more of a three-season pant some of the features about them got two nice cargo pockets on both i they come. With a zip on each side which i really like so i don’t lose anything out of it’s got two zipper pockets in the front here hand warmer pockets really like that got the full zipper in. The front for the crotch obviously good. Things and they come with a belt i hate it when pants don’t come with a belt i really like that feature even though that’s a small thing but i really like it they’re obviously an athletic type of fit but you can get them in a couple different sizes from our kara come along too short and things like that the pant. Legs themselves kind of have a more of a straight leg kind of fit like a straight like jean would have but because of that it keeps the bottom really tied around your food and it has a little loop down here in the bottom you can simply attach to your shoe string and you can tighten it up on the bottom because it has little draw cord you basically keep these things really tied around your boot and the purpose of that is to try to keep you from really needing the gator if you don’t really absolutely have to have one so put a gator on top of these things like i do a lot of times and a deep snow and things really got a bullet proof system in place to keep the wind out keep the snow out you mud out to rocks out things like that these fans are also really stretchy there’s a nice stretchy material in here which Arthur is really good about making in their pants even though the insulated. Worms so they’re run about $199 again. That’s that’s maybe more than some people want to spend, but they’re really good the last a long time you can just drag these things all over the place you’re looking for a really good soft shell type of pant definitely want to check the arterial gamma a arp and i think you’ll really like it pretty much indestructible.

I first saw the kathleen for one piece i. Was really psyched it’s a really nice. Solution for blocking the snow and cold when you’re skiing powder i wear it all. The time just as my base layer it’s totally versatile we’re similar. Conditions just everything’s sealed and. That much warmer by not having those gaps between bottoms and tops you know. It’s like a second skin it puts your. Arms and legs and everything on the same little sue kathleen fabric is very. Breathable which is really nice for cold weather stop-and-go activities climbing. Skiing ice buying this climbing when I’m. Skiing in the storm i love the collar because i can just pull it all the way up to my nose and it really blocks the cold it has this sort. Of wallet in it and it just feels great against your skin i think it’s the most. Exciting technical fabric we have. There’s a piece that i always wanted and excited to have it as a tool and my clothing kit.
Hey everyone it’s bigfoot here in this video I’m reviewing my absolute favorite. Piece of backpacking clothing that I’ve ever owned and that’s my patagonia capilene thermal weight quarter zip. Hoodie Well like many hikers out there what drew me to this particular product was the review that redbeard gave on it during his 2014 through hike and i got to say he was spot-on this has been my. Favorite piece of clothing I’ve had out there in the back country for many different reasons really because it’s just so versatile from a weight standpoint i wore a large came in at eight point seven ounces the claimed weight on this is seven point seven ounces now i don’t know if that’s for a smaller and medium i probably guess maybe a small so it really depends on what your sizes the zipper that this has it’s a quarter zipper so it will only go. Down to about your chest but what’s really great about it is while i was wearing if i started to get warm but it was still cool out i would just zip it down all the way to the very bottom. Of the zipper and did a great job of really helping let some of that air flow. Through invented and really kind of. Helped cool me down a little bit without having to take this off this typically on a normal day when i was hiking i typically wore this probably for about the first mile it was simple and light to be able to put on simple and light to be able to get off and throw back in my pack but again a lot of times i wore. This to get started the day and then of. Course at camp so i wore this all the time at camp whether it was at night whether it was. In the morning but it was just a great piece of gear that i could just throw on any one time just to kind of raise my. Body temperature so what i normally would do is i would actually keep this on the very top of my pack so above. Where all my clothes and my food my diddy sack my tent all those things were below this because i would pull this out and put it on quite frequently throughout the day more so at night more. So in the morning but really loved the versatility at this piece of gear had now it does have a couple of elastic. Some holes that you can put your thumbs. Through to really hold this thing the sleeves in place so there are times when it does start to get really cold out there on the trail especially when you’re starting to hit like the 30s and the low 40s and you are uncomfortable. And want to make sure that your sleeves stay in one place you can put those. Elastic some holes around your thumbs and then. It also helps with really kind of keeping a part of your palm warm as well so i like that in addition all right let’s talk about the hood so i did not. Have a hood with my ultimate down jacket and I’m so glad that i didn’t go with one but i brought it beanie with but i. Honestly i maybe wore the beanie maybe three times because if i had the beanie on it’s because i already it was cold enough that i already had this out and on and with this having a hood it really defeated the purpose of me having to have a beanie and wear a beanie but i. Put this on all the time it was just great being able to have the versatility of doing that hood on and i didn’t need. It just taking it off but it really did a great job would keep me warm and again. With that airflow that this is able to create i was able to really stay cool but still stay warm and those cooler. Temperatures normally when i did my hood on i would zip this up about half-way now this if you zip it all the way up to the top will go just above your mouth. That’s a little bit about the hoodie now. The fabric is made of a polar tech power grid it’s made of 92 percent recycled. Polyester and has a permanent odor control on it so never had any issues. With this thing really smelling bad at all know from a sizing standpoint this has more of that athletic fit so is a. Slim fit depending on what size that you. Are you might want to go up a size if you don’t like that feeling of such a slim fit now when i did start to get warm and i did not want to pull off my entire thermal hoody i would normally just roll my sleeves up and the nice. Part is the fabric that it’s made out of didn’t really bother me when it was all bunched up sob of my elbows so really. Was comfortable and all of these features really play in why this is my. Favorite piece of clothing that i have. Ever had out there in the back country so as you can guess i highly recommend this piece of clothing i love. This thing i take it with me pretty much everywhere you probably see me wear it in many of my other gear videos but again redbeard had this thing right this. Is a great piece of gear right now i. Think retails somewhere around $99 but totally worth the money and it’s. Held up for me really well I’ve had a couple holes start to form at the very end of the. Sleeves here so as you can see right. Here got a little hole forming anyway. Held up really well durable lightweight. Extremely warm extremely versatile wicks. The moisture away comfortable it’s got a. Hoody i mean love this thing so anyway. Guys check it out I’ll put links to the. Details of where to get this below alright guys well that wraps it up stay. Tuned for more gear reviews and more sightings here in the channel and of course you guys know remember to always follow bigfoot
All right how’s it going guys welcome to layers in gear just want to do a quick review for you guys on the patagonia thermal weight hoodie so I’ve had this. Hoodie for 16 months now i bought it. When i went on a trip doing the backbone trail it’s like a 70-mile hike my buddy. Did in about three days and so i was looking for a nice mid layer actually and i had looked at the r-1 which i as well. Have and it was just a little heavy and i really think it was necessary it’s a hike in southern california and so i was looking for something a little bit lighter that i could use and so what i. Did is i went with the patagonia thermal. Capilene the patagonia thermal capilene. Hoody so to be honest with you i. Actually did not like this piece for my backpacking trip it was too hot to be. Used as a face layer you know i needed something like under like a shirt that i could be in for the majority of the time during the day and it’s also but at the. End of the day it is a base layer so using this as a mid layer is highly. Uncomfortable because that’s not what it’s designed to do it’s not designed to go over the top of a shirt it’s designed for next to skin comfort so trying to wear it that way you’re gonna notice a lot of bunching and your shoulders and a lot of discomfort taking it on and off. Because like i said it’s very slim fitting so i was actually pretty. Concerned when i bought it cuz after the hike i was like man I’m never gonna get any use out of this thing so that went. On for a few months and it just stayed in my closet and i really didn’t get much use out of it at all and that was. Until i started working out in my garage. Actually and it gets pretty cold here in. The mornings in the winter and so and. Normally in my garage i work out with my shirt off once i get warmed up so this was a perfect piece for that kind of for. That kind of activity for warming up in cold weather sub 40 degree weather you’re cold when you start you have this next to skin to warm up i also wear it. Cold-weather jogging so if i go for a jog early in the morning or in the evening I’ll wear this and i usually. Won’t even shed it because it is extremely breathable you can see it has these waffle pattern fabric it’s a very. Breathable mix moisture really well and at the end of the day for something like jogging daily when you’re at home it’s. Not a big deal if you sweat in it because you can just throw it in the wash which is something i want to mention this is not although it has paulie g and permanent holder odor control it is not very good and nor is. Any synthetic polyester type fabric no. Matter what they tell you they’re not gonna be good for fighting bacteria. And having anti-odor properties it’s just that’s not what they’re made for but what it does for me is it makes me feel comfortable that if i wear it to warm up and i don’t really excessively sweat in it then i don’t feel like i need to wash it if i want to wear it again tomorrow and that’s not for like going out and being around one people but you know i work out everyday in my garage and I’ll wear this usually every single day five days in a row but i but. Again i don’t sweat in it once i start working up a sweat i remove it because they will stink and i will have to wash it so i don’t want you guys to get that wrong impression so prominent features it has these thumb. Loops which are really nice because like. I said when you’re switching layers taking them all and take them off primarily if you’re putting a mid layer on over this base layer you can put your. Fingers in the thumb loops, and they won’t bunch up at the shoulders other than that i think the hoodies incredible i think without the hoody this piece would not be worth the money they have the zip neck but without the hood for. The kind of if you’re doing the kind of use that I’m planning on that i do with it without the hood i just think it. Would be useless it’s a perfect little addition that keeps everything tight and. Warm when you’re warming up so alright. So material and comfort very comfortable. Next to skin like i said not comfortable if you’re trying to wear as the warmth is fine it’s its not warm. It’s not a sweatshirt it’s not a jacket it’s to stay warm if you’re warming up. You know what I’m saying so it you know when i put this on in the morning and go for a jog I’m freezing cold in it until i get warmed up but with that being said it is warmer than like just a. Long-sleeve shirt that’s why I’m saying the hoodies so important cuz i think without the hoodie it’s not much warmer than average long-sleeve shirt we talked. About the odor control best uses again i. Think for backpacking it’s not really a good choice but for running biking and. Cold-weather warm ups and as far as daily wear i don’t know why you would wear it’s not attractive it’s not there’s nothing i mean its kind of it’s its it’s completely as. Good as it was from day one like i said I’ve had it for 16 months now I’ve worn it almost every day for the last year of that probably. So for its value i would say that it’s. Honestly there’s a lot of products coming out right now in this market there’s a lot of things i just have noticed in the last few months so there’s a lot of different products that are coming out with it’s like kind of long-sleeve shirts with hoods you can find them like rei has their own brand nike under armour i mean all of those. Companies are coming out with these kinds of warm up things and i think that honestly for the value those are probably going to be just good because like i said you’re not it’s i don’t use. This for an extreme piece of kit i use. It for warming up working out i mean i. Personally love it when i spend the money on it again for like 80 90 bucks. Yeah i probably would just cuz I’ve come to love it and appreciate the comfort of. It you know I’ve tried on like the rei one in the store for instance and it’s. Just not as comfortable it’s clingy the polyester this is very i mean it almost feels like cotton so anyway that’s all i. Have for you guys real quick before i go through i just also want to show you i also do own these patagonia lightweight. Bottoms they’re also capilene same material just. A lighter weight i don’t they’re good i. Mean if you’re looking for lightweight long johns then i guess you can get them. At something i don’t recommend them it’s just for the price i think you can do better you can get a merino wool pair for the same price and i would just definitely go with that also the reason. The number one reason i don’t recommend them is this fly i got in commando in my. Long johns and this fly is not it’s. Barely covering so you will walk around. In these commando and your will just fall out the hole for sure it’s not. A good fly whatsoever and to me that’s just honestly I’ve been in situations where my dick was just hanging out and i was like wow that’s awkward so for that. Reason alone i would not recommend these. So yeah thanks guys.

It’s also helmet compatible which makes it great for walkers as well as mountaineers and alpha knees there’s two draw cords on the bottom of the jacket this allows you to fully cinch in the bottom of the jacket so you don’t get any wind up there but it also maintains a really good fit the velcro cuffs are. Great jacket i really like the feel of it’s a really nice fit I’d recommend. This jacket so not only walkers but openness and mountaineers as well. You.

Sup guys this big tray be back again another gift with you was crazy man we. Have so many nice pieces and this piece. I’m like super hyped up about i was. Super hyped up to get this when i saw it. Everywhere my heart. Years. 796 with the expose yourself inside. Exactly which kind of just changed. Please with like sentences pockets. In side chest pocket adjustment awesome. Awesome piece wind stopper i could go on. Since then my heart has been making a. Lot of dope a lot of dope stuff right when i saw this piece i loved it i had. The order this is called the mountain. Hardwear core stratum alpine hoodie. Right so basically what this is a. Synthetic. It insulates with synthetic insulation and the synthetic insulation that he. Uses is primaloft gold active and. Primaloft gold by itself all right so. That’s two different primaloft insulation zin here it has the heavier. The official active in the soldiers and. It has the lighter primaloft just gold. In the rest of the body and ours you can. See the mountain hardwear right there. The insignia right they got to love that both and so tough i love it loves that. The cuffs are nice and tight they’re not loose again outerwear jacket. Manufacturers please pay. Attention to the cuffs please make them. Tight it’s the most annoying thing when. You have a great piece of outerwear and the cuffs are loose. Of the sleep. So again we’re here with the core strata this is the out my mouth hardened we are don’t. Be confused they have a regular it’s. Still, synthetic north face tearing. Synthetic insulation is becoming more prevalent in the game now it allows you. To make a very warm piece of warmth that. Rivals a down jacket without the bulk. And without all right so this is basically doing the. Same thing and i love this jacket. That fit this is a double xl believer. And the fit is a little there cut a. Little school so if you usually wear a. Large get a xl usually wear a xl get a. Double xl this is a double xl for me and. I wish you had just a little bit if I’m. Just gonna wear a base layer with it then you know I’m fine but usually these. Types of jackets are like to wear there maybe if I’m going to work or maybe a button-down shirt or if i want to put a. Thicker pullover fleece on underneath to. The thermal mid layer underneath it. Might be a little tight so my own hard way i would say please if you could make. The next iterations of these a little bit more room I’d appreciated. Look at the jacket we have two hand-warmer pockets at the side very. Nice. Very nice lining on the inside the. Zippers are nice not as flowy as some. Other brands are terrence comes to mind. Is it versa to super just easy to open. And close if you do it with one hand so. Flowy and smooth and you have to napoleon chest pockets it which is very nice i. I love just pilots they’re very convenient you don’t have to open the tag enough to get two keys or money or. Anything they don’t like access to awesome right. You have ahem-hem loop here at the. Bottom we saw one sided so you can just pull it tightens up the whole thing and i really like i really like the. Jacket i love this blue and the fabric. Is very nice i mean they did non hard we. Did a very good job with the fabric it’s. Very soft it’s plushy. I’m very impressed with the field and. The craftsmanship of the jacket. This kind of shiny nylon overlaid. You know you’ll be the judge some people. May like it some people may not but i. Think it looks kind of cool right now. For the hood there is no adjustment here. On the sides of the face yet one adjustment is here on the back all right. One point adjustment which we’ve seen in. A lot of jackets that it’s great but i. Think mountain hardwear falls under the short heel with this reason why i say that this is because look at the sides. Here right this is open this is supposed. To be closed when i cinch down the hood. So when it’s cold and breathe me out. You’re gonna get tons of air just rushing down inside the jacket i kind of. Like the size of the jacket in the hood. Are going to be open i think they. Definitely redesigned this hood i want. To keep this jacket so much but this was. A no-go for me i could probably even live with loose cuffs but a hood that. Works properly all right. You know a rule of thumb a lot of yup you have a lot of jacket makers out here. A lot of people doing just excellent stuff a lot of people just doing kind of. Ok stuff with their outerwear but really. The deciding factor with a jack especially a technical outerwear piece is the hood is on point if the hood is. Just cinches down perfectly it’s no. Fuss at all then that’s gonna be a great. Jacket alright that’s like a rule of thumb jack it has a great hug the jacket. Is probably gonna be great at what it does also out here today. It’s like 28 degrees 30 degrees it’s. Could it’s chilly I’m pretty warm in this i wouldn’t recommend you wear it in very. Cold conditions like this but you know if you have a thermal under there a. Light fleece pullover a very thin fleece. To wear underneath it and you’re hell-bent on wearing this in that condition then you could probably get away but this would probably be suited i. Would say from anywhere to make 30s to. Mid 40s. I really like the jacket about i love it i love the feel i love the. Look it’s just the hood i can’t have an. Open hood that’s just a no-go for me so. Please but next season or this winter. Coming up you guys look at the inside of. The jacket which i also think they did a. Good job like i said i was very impressed with the craftsmanship of the. Jacket they go the tags because the. Jacket is going back. All right so you have mountain hardwear. You have righted you have two types of. Insulation you have the active you have the regular primaloft you can’t go wrong. With that but just look at the inside of the jacket all right look at the craftsmanship is very nice material that they’ve used on the inside. Of the jacket i think they did a great. Job but this hood they have to redesign. This hood so that it cinches around your. Face the right way great piece has to be. On point all right so this is big jersey. Signing off. Hit me up down below you have any questions subscribe problem. Gear reviews
When you think of a classic, mountain-town look, you picture a Patagonia Synchilla. The Women’s Classic Synch Vest is the sleeve-free version of this style, that allows you to keep your core warm and create stylish, layered looks that fit the weather. The fleece is made from recycled materials, so you can stay warm while helping the earth stay cool. The tall collar and zippered pockets keep your neck and hands toasty, so even your extremities are comfortable as you wander around town.
Find your zen on hiking trails, in climbing gyms, or at yoga studios with the Outdoor Research Women’s Zendo Pant. Stretch ripstop fabric helps this pant resist UV rays, wick moisture, dry quickly, and provide a movement-mirroring stretch. Outdoor Research added a DWR finish to shed raindrops in wet weather. The low-profile wide waistband fits under your harness comfortably, and the drawcord ankle adjustments convert this pant into a capri.
Crawl around climbs in the stretchy, durable, and water-resistant Women’s Lizard II Short from Haglöfs. Its FlexAble softshell fabric balances between breathability and weather protection for climbing from spring to fall. A gusseted construction enhances the Lizard’s freedom of movement, and the adjustable, flat waist accommodates harnesses comfortably. All the pockets have zippers so you don’t lose your valuables.
Might these be the only mountaineering pants you need? Probably not, but they will fit the bill for most of your epic alpine expeditions and adventures. The Roc Fusion Pant from Haglofs integrates important features so you can feel protected while you’re mountaineering in the Dolomites or summiting Fitz Roy. When the peaks are snowy and your ascent calls for crampons, the reinforced instep protects these pants from spike-induced abrasions while the inner gaiter keeps trail and rock debris out of your shoes.
If the weather turns (as it so often does in alpine environments), the Fluorocarbon-free water-resistant treatment will keep you dry while also reducing impact on the environment. For warm and wet environments, you can pull down the zippered thigh to let some steam out.
When you’re adventuring in the alpine, the weather can change quickly. Bring along the Outdoor Research Apollo Jacket for your climbing and hiking pursuits so you can be ready for those surprise storms. The jacket easily stows into its left-hand pocket and clips to the outside of your pack while retaining the performance features you want when you’re climbing or hiking. For example, its waterproof construction with fully sealed seams prevent moisture from seeping through and dampening your outing. Underarm zippers allow you to quickly dump excess heat on strenuous ascents and approaches. Additionally, when you’re climbing, the pockets are placed perfectly so you can still access them when you’re wearing a harness and the double-separating front zipper reduces stress when you’re on belay.

The innovative floodlight jacket by outdoor research. This is a very warm and compressible down jacket that is filled with high quality 800. Fill down. The stand out feature of this jacket is it is fully waterproof. Now traditional down jackets need to have lots of baffles and lots of stitch lines and. That prevents them from being fully waterproof. But what outdoor research has done in the floodlight jacket is created a way to do away. With all of those stitch lines and create just a fully waterproof outer shell. They actually bond the baffles in this jacket. And that does two things. It creates little chambers so you don’t have unwanted shifting of down and it as well. Allows the jacket to be fully waterproof. So you don’t have all those holes in the fabric. It is very innovative and it also allows the jacket to not need to utilize treated down. So it is traditional down, but all of those plumes of down are protected by that waterproof. Outer shell. This is a very technical and fully featured jacket. So starting with the outer shell it is fully waterproof, pertex shield plus fabric. It is a rip stop nylon and it is 30 d. so it is very durable. I can see it being great for skiing where you are going to be subject to some moisture, . But you want that outer fabric to be pretty durable in those conditions. You know, hiking in maybe damp or snowy conditions where you want to stay really toasty warm. But you also want all of that waterproof protection. We have got a full length zipper in this jacket. And the zippers on the outside are water resistant zippers. You have a storm flap behind the full length zipper in the front. And the hem of the jacket actually drops down a little bit in the back. So, you know if you are moving around you are not going to feel this jacket ride up. Very much at all. You have an adjustable draw cord in the hem that you can cinch down from either side. While i have got the jacket open, you do have two dump pockets on the inside. These are stretchy mesh pockets, a great place for a pair of gloves, a hat or even ski skins. They are big enough for that. We have got two hand level pockets and these are lined with a really nice, soft fleece. Fabric for chilly hands. On the inside of the one pocket you do have a little clip for keys, which is a nice added. Feature and a small chest pocket up here at the top. The cuffs of this jacket are fully adjustable. You have got a little bit of stretch there, but just a velcro closure there. Really nice to cinch down if you have gloves on top or gloves underneath. And just going up to the collar, a really nice baffled collar and a really warm helmet. Compatible hood. You have got a lot of adjustment points on the hood. I will start with actually the brim. There is a nice little wired brim here. It sticks out past the end of the hood and just gives a little bit more added protection. There. as i said, it is a helmet compatible hood so it is pretty big, but you have adjustment. Points around the face and around the back so you can really cinch these down and just. Batten everything down. If you have the zipper zipped up all the way, there is just a little chin guard behind there. So it doesn’t irritate your chin if you have it zipped up. The fit of this jacket is really great. i am just wearing a lightweight layer underneath of this, but there is definitely enough room. In this jacket to layer up. you know, it is certainly a very warm winter jacket. So they give you enough room to allow for layers underneath of it. On its own it is just very warm. I am wearing a small right now and i wear smalls in almost every other brand in their. Outer wear pieces. and this does fit really well. With a dropped hem this jacket is a little bit longer, which is great for in the winter. And, you know, the sleeves are a little bit longer as well just so that you can use gloves. With them. The hood fits really well and just, you know, everything else about the jacket is just very, . Very comfortable. The inside of the jacket is very soft fabric and, you know, it feels really great on so. It is definitely my first impression of the jacket. It fits really well and it is very warm, definitely a surefire way to stay warm and dry in the. Back country. It is the waterproof and very innovative floodlight jacket by outdoor research.

Constructed of a 70 denier ripstop nylon. It’s called ventia and it’s a two and a. Half layer waterproof breathable material the seams are fully taped and. The hood keeps you fully protected when. You’re hiking hard open the pit zips to dump excess body heat the two hand pockets are mesh lined to vent as well and the jacket packs down into the left side pocket there’s a storm flap in. Front of and behind the zipper and a velcro closure at the top and the bottom. To keep the flap closed the adjustable.
