Hey what's up guys my name is jared moss. So i was recently shopping for a new rain / wind jacket and i came across the. New black diamond storm line a fine line jacket and as i was shopping i couldn't. Find a ton of information on the jackets as far as reviews go so i just wanted to. Post a quick video i just got mine in so. I hadn't had an opportunity to test it in the rain or the wind yet but i wanted. To share a little bit about the fit and a few features that i like about the jacket first of all the fit is perfect in my opinion so I'm 511 160 pounds and. The medium fits me perfectly it's just. Big enough so i could fit a nice. Insulating layer underneath it when it. Gets a little more chilly but it's stretchy it doesn't feel like it's going to restrict my movement so the fit is great I'm really happy with the way this jacket fits as far as the features go so. We have two hand pockets there is no chest pocket on this one but the fine line offers a chest pocket but no hand. Pockets but i wanted the hand pockets we also have two pivots underneath my arms. To help with a ventilation and we have. An adjustable hem with elastic cord and. An adjustable hood I'll go ahead and put. The hood on so you guys can see what that looks like, so we have the hood is a helmet compatible so that's. Really nice when climbing and it's adjustable, so we can fit it to the size. That you need we also have velcro. Adjustable or around the wrist and the. Zipper is nice and smooth it works great but another feature about this jacket is the way that it packs away i was super surprised at how small this jacket packs away so i just want to show you guys what that looks like so packs into its right-hand pocket so. I'm gonna go ahead and zip it up. And then pack it away for you guys so if. We open up this pocket and we just start. Stuff and get in so this is perfect when. You're going on multi-pitch climbing on a hike you don't need the jacket yet but. You're expecting windy or rainy weather but it packs away really nicely into its. Pocket and super small this would be easy to fit into your backpack and not take up so much space so that's what i. Have for now i will test it out in the rainy and. Center front zipper we've got two. Zippered hand pockets we've got extended pit zips for venting. Underneath fully seam taped you can see. A little bit of contrast color here we've got our internal ingredient branding gives just a quick story about our fabrics and kind of why we chose what we did, so we've got a 10,000. Waterproof 10,000 breath ability rating this is really kind of our do all rain. Shall it's a two-way stretch so it's super easy to wear and this is really for any beedi customer hikers trekkers. Climbers any situation that you could be. In out in the mountains or just around town when you need a waterproof protection it's also really easy to wear. Adam here forget out their magazine today i am bringing you a comparative review of two down-filled jackets by mountain hardwear Over here we have the ghost whisperer down hooded jacket and on this side we have the stretch down rs hooded jacket let's break down what it's similar first. At first glance you think that these may be the same jacket both uses similar fabric the rs is slightly thicker fabric in the whisper but both are extremely thin and feel like they could rip easily. But let me tell you they're surprisingly durable after extensive use i have yet. To fiber rip and either of these jackets now each has a drawstring waist and each. Has similar down fill and provides. Similar warmth 750 down fill for the rs. And 800 for the whisper both have mountain hardwear's q shield down which is treated to be water repellent however both jackets soak throughout their two hours in a wet snowfall finally both. Have down-filled hoods which do not have draw strings, but they do stay on tight even in high winds and that's really where the similarities end the whisper has an active fit which is. Really tight to the body where the rs of the performance fit which is more room through the waist shoulders and arms for reference I'm five-eleven 185 pounds in both jackets are size medium the whisper. Is the world's lightest down hooded jacket well at least that's what the mountain hardwear website says so don't quote me on that but it is extremely light it only weighs in at 7.7 ounces. Where the rs is also very light but it's. Almost double the weight at fourteen point nine ounces to keep the weight down the whisper has a minimalistic design and only two zippered hand pockets while the rs has two zippered. Hand pockets a zippered chest pocket in the internal mesh pockets the cuffs are. Both very different drs has a traditional small outer elastic while the whisper has a unique design with the down fill all the way to the end of the sleeve and it has a hidden elastic inside the cuff to keep it in place surprisingly i found this was much better to keep the cuff in place during activity than the rs cuff a neat feature of the ghost whisperer is its ability to be stored away in its own pocket it folds up to the size of a large water bottle which makes it super convenient on days when the temperature or your activity level maven the rs is a version of mountain hardwear's new stretch down line and to. Be honest i didn't find there to be much stretch in this fabric however i did find it to be pretty comfortable at the end of the day i found the stretch down rs jacket to be great for leisure activities like walking the dog and hiking as well as general wear around town i also have had many compliments on. The style of this jacket on the other hand the ghost whisperer jacket has not had any compliments for the look and that may be due to the color but it is a way better choice for someone who's looking for a down-filled jacket to be active in i have found this also to be. Design team here at outdoor research and I'm going to tell you about our interstellar jacket for spring 18 for him and her this is our pinnacle piece this is the go-to in the alpine it's a. Three layer membrane so you've got a shell fabric you've got the membrane that keeps everything waterproof and then a backer to make sure it stays protected for a long period of time it. Uses our ascent shell membrane which in this package is our lightest and most breathable fabric that we have it also has stretch so you don't have to worry about your fabric binding while you're moving in the alpine we use dynamic reach panels for our patterning so you. Have full range of motion while you're climbing you can get that full extension with your arm and you don't have to worry about it come out of your harness which is a great feature to have we also used a helmet compatible hood so. You can fit it on over your helmet and it's fully adjustable with integrated cord locks so you don't have to worry about hiking with the helmet that's too big and you're getting it blown off we. Used villain center front zipper it's waterproof so it's nice and easy to use so if you need to ventilate really quickly you can just unzip that and don't have to worry about fiddling with some of those stickier zippers we used. Other waterproof zippers on our hand. Pockets and chest pocket that are exposed so you don't have to worry about dealing with those flaps like other rain shells our bottom hem has an elastic. Draw cord in it so you can tighten it down and get a nice snug fit if you need a little bit of extra weather protection or keep some of that heat in and out. Cuffs are adjustable as well to fit over a glove and tighten it down so you don't. Have to worry about that in our left-hand pocket packs in so all the jacket. Packs and a left-hand pocket turn it inside out zip it closed and has a carabiner and loop on it clip it on the back of your harness for those alpine fast and light missions this is the interstellar jacket for spring 18.

Have out there mountain hardwear logo in it man and these are the ghost whisperer. Jackets now what they are they're. Lightweight down jackets by lightweight. You wouldn't believe me if i told you how light they are i know i've done. Videos on them before but this is a one. Year later update on the two non hooded. Jackets that we have this black one and. Then this green one now this one's mine. Of course the black ones means guns knives and watches and i really like the green but. When i purchased these these things list. For $300 apiece for the non hooded and. Three hundred and fifty dollars a piece for the hood hood in my real-world. Estimation unless you're going for a. Fashion statement that you're just going to wear to school or something or da-da-da-da-da or to non there's no need. In paying $350 you can buy these things. On closeout all the time from a hundred and thirty dollars for the non hooded. And about 140 to 150 dollars so i would. Go in somewhere in that price range a hundred and thirty to a hundred and fifty dollars apiece now you may not get. The the color you want you may not get. The size that you want but that's just. The way it is i'll give you an example of that you know i i didn't my first. Inclination was not to purchase this and bright green jacket even though i really. Do like it now i would have much rather. Had something that's a little more subdued like this one but for the price. I think i got this for a hundred and thirty dollars it's really great of. Course these are down lightweight insulated layers can be exterior layers the one thing about this down is is treated with something that they're marketing as cue. Shield right there and what that does is. That gives the down the ability to get. Wet and everything's better when it's. Wet maybe it really is things don't get. Interesting till it starts raining you're not training less it's raining that's just the way it works. So these hold some of their ability to. Have warmth even when wet when. Traditional that untreated down isn't and that's really the basis of my. Judging the honest to god value of these these items because there is a lot of. Sewing into in it each stitch there's. Not a lot of treated down in it and if you can notice through this orange. Because it's more of a translucent. Orange you can see some of the darker. Feathers possibly on camera showing. Through now let me see if i can make. That work probably not anyway it doesn't matter but like i said missus guns. Knives and watch it's got a small in this where she would normally wear an extra small it's a little long in the sleeves but for the price you couldn't couldn't beat it and then of course i got this more whatever type of green. That it is but if i was gonna buy one my. Recommendation is that you go with the hood because there's such a small. Difference between the cost of the two and people hike use these to hike the appalachian trail they use them out on hiking and they use them all kinds of different things and i carry believe it. Or not i carry a backpack all the time when i wear mine and there's no real. Wear marks now this is a micro rip stop. And i can't really show you that on. Camera because it seems is or maybe i. Can there's a micro rip stop pattern. Man i don't know that's showing everyone. And it's a very very high thread-count. Fabric which gives it the ability number. One your feathers aren't going to poke through which in a lesser thread count of course they would and also you get. Basically a strength factor similar to. Silk okay where you don't have you don't. Have the big thread like you're doing like kevlar or like no matte nomex or. Any of that other kind of crap no max it. For fire rating but spec tara whatever. You know you you get the gist of the idea so i would say these are really. Good codes highly recommend them via our favorites they're extremely lightweight they're extremely packable everything packs up in its own little pocket you can see. It's got a double zipper on it and it. Just goes in relatively easy without. Much fuss without much this that or the other and just gonna eat your shelf. Liner but that's basically what you're. Left with and i'll even go through the. Effort of zipping it even though i have. Found that with these compressible coats. And things like this you really need to. Pull the zipper together to zip it or. Else you basically wind up putting too much force on the zipper itself that's. Pretty self-explanatory this isn't rocket science or anything like that and. Me hugging a tripod right now anything exactly probably the best setup in the world. But let's see if i can do it on camera it's not real till it's on film right. Anyway about size of my hand of course i. Got rather large size hands but it's just the way it is well what else can i. Say. Told you the pricing told you this there or the other course at 300 and 350 and. If you're going to use these things you're whacked out of your gourd but. That you know they're dumb people born. Every day this guy's knives and watches and have a. Good one buy things when people don't. Want them don't buy them when they're in high demand you know by last year's. Color buy whatever just do it correctly one thing that i have noticed between. The generations of these two and. Probably i pulled the wrong one out the older ones had elastic on the edge elastic if it's really good quality kind. Of a problem with the newer ones. Don't they have a just a basic wear. Strip there which has very little flecks. In it i don't know how that's going to. Actually which one's going to wear out first or give up its ghost first but. These are wearing well this gots knives. And watches peace out.

This is the mountain hardwear men's ghost whisperer down jacket at seven. Ounces it offers ultra lightweight warmth great pack ability as an extra. Layer or for cool weather temperatures the ghost whisperer is insulated with. 850 full q shield down what's so. Important about that is it is water repellent down traditionally down insulation while very compressible very. Warm is susceptible to decrease. Performance should it become wet so in humid conditions in moist conditions it. Loses its ability to keep you warm it is a low profile jacket again it's not designed for the coldest of weather but. A certainly intended to keep you warm can't do that if that down can't retain. Its abilities and q shield down allows. This jacket to function in all types of conditions also helping to maintain that. Lightweight design 70 + 10 d ripstops. Nylon shell fabric here on the jacket it. Is surprisingly tough but that is. Definitely an ultra lightweight fabrication — so be aware of that as far. As adjust ability on the jacket you do have a single pull here at the hem to. Snug that in and kind of dial in fit. Elasticity at the cuffs you do have a. Full length zipper on the jacket so easy. On easy off not gonna find that on every. Jacket that's a mere 7 ounces a lot of. Times in order to accomplish that manufacturers have to go to the half zip the ghost whisperer down jacket does have that convenient folds it as far as. Pocketing is concerned on the jacket very streamlined you do have two zippered hand warmer pockets there aren't any internal pockets or chest. Pockets on this jacket the right side. Pocket does allow you to stow the jacket. Inside it so when you don't need it when you just want to throw it inside your pack it hides away inside its very own. Integrate here's that ghost whisperer stuffed away. Inside that right pocket you can see those nice compact dimensions and again. At just seven ounces this really is an. Ideal piece for the backpacker to have. At the ready when temperatures dip a. Little bit and you just need a little extra warmth certainly looks great to do so a nice option for cool weather.

Okay guys this is the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer down jacket down is a. 800 fill down i don't actually have the. Gram weight of the down because the manufacturer didn't provide that information 7 deniers by 10 denier ripstop nylon meaning i think it's seven. In one direction int in another direction it does have a dwr finish like. The other jackets that we've discussed and also mountain hardwear I'm going a step further, and they have put a dwr treatment on the down itself inside the. Jacket they claim this down is more water resistance than standard down. There are lots of little cells, and they are totally closed off so you don't have. That concern about having down migrate. Around between the down cells zipped all. The way up the color does stand up again we do have space zipping seems smooth no issues there. This cut is clearly a longer and thinner. More athletic cut than the boxiness of the mont beljac its turn here and give. You a view of the sides and back five. You again a view with the zipper down just so you get a feel for what that looks like this is a medium and on my. Frame i feel again this is too big too baggy a lot of folks like their jackets like this right they want to put a lot of layers underneath they like to have that roominess bagginess i like it a little bit more fitted again no hood on this cuff style. There's no elastic in the cuff they have. What they call i think they called it a buttery lining it's just sort of suede. Or soft lining a suede light probably. Not actually swayed it's actually snug or even though it's not elastic it actually sits around my hands making a better seal than the anorak and the plasma did. I think because it's longer so it sits down on the wider meteor part of my hands and makes a seal this one is kind of. Interesting I'll try and show you a close-up later it's a single point. Although the court does go all the way. Around your body it's a single pull. Hopefully you can see that and then the release is actually inside here and. Maybe we can get a close-up of that later but what you do is you just pinch. The release and then it comes undone no. Problem pockets now this is important to me this actually has two hand warming. Pockets okay big deep and warming pockets with a nice zipper on those. Which is something that we haven't seen any other models fabric wise this. Actually feels a little shinier than the. Montville jackets I'm not so much into. The shininess but it's not a problem is. Clearly less crinkly than the montville. Jackets I've got no pretty cleanness at all no creaking noise 209 grams. Now this jacket does not have a stuff sack it does stuff into its own pocket. The right side pocket has a reverse. Zipper so when you go inverted you do. Have a zipper on the outside so that's a nice feature okay guys you're looking at the small and the ghost whisperer the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer jacket and snug it's fitted i can still get a. Layer underneath it at least a nice thick capilene maybe even a fleece but. This is what i like let me give you a look with the zipper on and off how that. Feels and wears and do a little runway. Show for you get the front back insides. This jacket is weighs in and 195 grams. So again a little bit heavier than the. Mock bail jackets but still extremely light and it does have the other features obviously that i mentioned with regard to the medium so i hope that's helped we're gonna talk about pack ability price, and then we'll wrap it up what we're. Looking at here is the anorak the x. Light down interact for month though small and medium this is the plasma. 1,000 small and medium this is the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer small and medium this is a standard 32 ounce now gn bottle this is the smaller 16-ounce nalgene bottle if you've seen. Those again these four are in a stuff. Sack these are stuffed into their own pocket. All of these stuffed fairly easily i. Think this bag is actually slightly bigger than this bag the plasma bag is. Bigger than the anorak bag that's why it looks bigger although the anorak is a slightly larger jacket with a hood so it's actually packed in there a little tighter all of these jackets compress a lot more if i. Have three hands i would show you if you take your palms and smoosh both ends. These jackets together you can easily smush them to half the length of what. They are in front of you now certainly within the size or volume of that nalgene bottle there so that's the. Review guys i spent a lot of time looking at these jackets being reviews and then evaluating these jackets in my own home i spent some time trying to put. Together a video that would give you the. Best of all the videos and reviews that i watched so i would cover all the information people say some things, and they leave out other parts i tried to cover all the details with all three jackets so you can really get an idea of. What would be the best jacket for you and I'm gonna go with small down whisper or ghost whisperer rather because it's. Got the features that i liked it doesn't have any cream cleanness it does have a slim taller fit it does have the pockets. A jacket this light is a no-brainer to. Take on a long climbing day when we're. Trying to cut weight and be minimalistic. Because I'm happy with myself when i. Actually need it and don't regret it if. I don't need it because it's just not in. The way this jacket is compresses into. Its own right pocket so i can bring it. Almost anywhere clip it anywhere use it as a pillow just ignore it in the bottom. Of my pack it just goes anywhere i love that about it.

Hi this is craig geology with review of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket for pro like here calm i would put this jacket up against. The patagonia ultralight down hoody but. I like this jacket better for the following reasons number one it's lighter weight and number two it uses a more intelligent or a higher performance. Baffle design than the ultralight down hoody from patagonia and it's got a what. I feel is a better design around the. Neck area for a hooded jacket let's tell you a little bit about this jacket comes in 7.9 ounces or 223. Grams I'm wearing a size medium the size. Large was cut a little big for me it's filled with two point eight ounces of 850 fill power q shields a hydrophobic. Down q shield is similar to the sierra. Designs dry down they've talked about earlier it's where they take each individual plume, and they treat the. Plume with a dwr durable water repellent. To make it hydrophobic so that the balloon or the plume can withstand the. Presence of moisture and not collapse you know down works by when it's inside a baffle it's the loft or the. Springiness of those individual down plumes that create the dead air space inside these baffles i haven't played. Around a lot with the q shield so i look. Forward to testing that out a little bit more in the future and kind of validating just how well it works and. Some other things about this jacket it's using their whisper or fabric which is a seven janiero by changing your fabric it's a really lightweight fabric and. It's kind of just a really nice hand — it's very compressible the baffle design this is using about a 1.4 inch. One point three six inches sized baffle so. A good baffle it's a uniform baffle. Versus some of the other products up here that are using these variegated. Baffle designs the draw cord it's a very. Small draw cord in the waist but it does have a draw cord for the waste it's a hidden draw cord it does have two. Zippered pockets on it. And what i like about this jacket is when you zip it all the way up it. Creates a nice tight fit around the neck helps seal off that neck area, and we. Noticed that when we're looking at these jackets underneath the ar with the flir thermal imaging camera that this jacket. The hooded jacket sometimes when you zip them all the way up they still leave a bit of room around the neck and you can. See that the heat escaping through the neck on hooded jacket, so they all work. Pretty well once you put the hood up it's when you just have them fully zipped up with the hood down that we can tell a difference so i really like this and it just uses a standard kind of. Stretch binding in the cuff but it's a. Little bit loose fitting that's the only thing i might say about this jacket is the cuff could fit a little bit. Tighter so that wraps up the review of. The mountain hardwear ghost whisperer. Down hooded jacket it's a jacket that i. Really like it works well as a layering. Hi I'm after steve and today I'm testing. And reviewing mountain hardwear's updated ghost whisperer down jacket this. Down jacket has got to be the lightest down jacket i have ever picked up i keep. Hanging it to people and telling them to try it because they just can't believe how light it weighs the entire coat is. Just over 200 grams and is incredibly. Compressible to be able to stuff it in a. Backpack I've been using it now for over. Two months including up in the mountains in poland for hiking and it has been an absolute dream to wear being a super. Lightweight jacket it's pretty stripped down it doesn't have that many features for example the cops are just elasticized but there still are two full. Hand stash pockets it's got a fairly small zipper once you zip it up it fits. Really nicely as you can see so it's. What's called an active fit and hugs your body quite nicely the jacket as well. Features a single quick pull waist cinch. Located on one side i just pull it here. And it tightens up around my waist which is quite handy to be able to do it with just one hand we're insulation this jacket uses an 850. Fill down and if you know anything about down that means it's pretty darn warm. But the real magic is the fact that they've actually created a process which they call q shield down i guess and it. Essentially infuses the down which will built-in water repellency so even when. It gets wet it maintains its loft and it's warm because of the tight weave it's also quite wind proof so I've had this out in. A night breeze and i still stay warm the jacket I'm wearing it's a size small blue obviously but it also comes a few. Other colors and a range of sizes for those that are looking for a little bit more coverage you can actually get the ghost whisperer hooded down jacket which. Is the exact same as this one only has a fold down hood that you can bring over your head as well in case you're wondering the jacket does it into its own punch which is pretty amazing so I've stuffed it all in there which wasn't too hard now i just unpack it. Like that throw it on and I'm nice and. Water people ask me what this coat might be rated to in terms of temperature and i do have a thicker down jacket that i. Wear in the dead of winter and it's always warm i still have a little bit of. A concern that once a temperature dips to really cold temperatures this won't quite cut it but the beauty of it is it's so small and thin and has such a. Nice cut that i can put on pretty much any of my shells over top of this easily without any problem i do have one small nitpick with jacket and that's the zipper I've actually found a number of times when i was heading out the door and i grabbed the jacket trying to zip it up quickly I've had problems at the bottom not quite lining up and then the zipper separating at the bottom so I'm here in the tatra mountains hiking I'll hold the day started out dry and warm as. We got up high in the mountains i got pretty windy but luckily i had my ghost whisperer down johnny it fit right in my. Camera bag without any problem it was great to have a long well as you can see we have a nice snowfall today it's pretty chilly but. With this jacket on I'm nice and toasty. On the inside and i barely feel the weight on well that's it for my review the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer down jacket it's got a lot of warmth without the weight and the q shield down keeps it nice and dry even when there's snow or a little bit of rain coming down more information on this and all the other products at the mountain hardwear ca. Techie down jacket the zipper on this. Actually weighs more than the code. Itself all right so essentially you saw me pull it out that what it is its a. It's a high-end you know outdoor. Wintertime warm coat i can ride my bike. Home tonight it would be about 10 degrees with a t-shirt on underneath this once i kind of get warm inside. There it's going to keep all that warmth in there this is not something that i go out and test for running because if i. Ran in this and be about 5 minutes and I'd just be roasting my cooker but for. What i wear it for is before and after monday nights we snowshoe and so I'll. Wear this until we get ready to go pull it off and as soon as we get back we stand around then you get cold standing around and outdoors and then I'll put that back on and really regenerates the heat but so far super durable i got. Little kids at home you know they're always tugging on me and i got we've. Been moving snowshoes around this winter with calls on so far i have to put a hole or nothing in it so I've been really impressed it's mountain hardwear it's high-end stuff but if you're. Looking for a very versatile coat that's warm enough for almost all winter everything but light enough and pack able. And your backpack and all that stuff this seriously with my backpack now I'm. Packing this in there and then i got a little waterproof shell jacket that if. It got cold and wet i basically be set. For about anything so check it out mountain hardwear we'll see you. You.

All guys wanted to do a quick review. Of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket this is an 800 full power. 800 fill power down with the 7 denier. Fabric and it has the q shield which. Means that every down plume or the down. Was treated with a dwr coating to. Protect it from some of the weaknesses of down which is moisture there is. Footage at the end of this video that I'll include where i wash the jacket and. How you could see the look looms you. No clumping when wet and i put it in the dryer with four. Tennis balls tumble dry low for about 60. Minutes i guess you could do it a little. Shorter but i like to do it on low heat not to damage the fabric and end it down. As much as i can i will be adding you. No down safe detergent to my cleaning. Supplies whatever you want to call that. For all my down coats now i wound up purchasing this jacket. Because i felt that the cerium lt was. Just a little bit warm for my daily use here in new york city this jacket is. Great down to freezing and up to the. Mid-40s you don't overheat with this as much as. The cerium lt and then app when it goes. Up and we have days when it's 35 in the. Morning and it's 55 by the afternoon it's light enough eight and a half. Ounces was easier for me to. Psychologically carry in my backpack than an 11 ounce serum lt so I've owned. This piece since march 2017 did not. Really get a full we use out of this during 2017 bought it. When it was on sale, and we had a couple of cold days before spring had really. Arrived and was able to use it towards. The end of 2017 winter in march so i was. Really upset to see that earlier this. Winter without even a full seasons use. That the stitching was coming off so you. Could see here this was on the right sleeve right by the elbow and then as well. Now after washing it i also noticed that. There's more stitching coming off right. Above that so it could be a quality. Control issue i have the former or. Previous version of this which is the. Yellow one i featured in one of my videos and that jacket does not show any. Signs of wear and I've used it i guess. Pretty close to you know i guess it's. More of a handful of times in comparison to this but more than 1020. Times for sure the color is a bit hard. To use outside of back country use but i. Did use it for at least two seasons but. Not every day like this jacket now. Mountain hardwear has a limited or has a. Lifetime warranty but they're going to. Require you to ship it back to the. Manufacturer other thing is if you. Attempt to fix this yourself or pay. Someone to fix it voids that warranty. So i found out that paragon sports here. In new york city mails back to the. Manufacturer so I'm actually bringing this to paragon sports today. And this is maybe the last chance i get. To review this actual jacket because. Either they repair it or they send you a. New jacket so i wanted to show you guys. The defects before i ship it back to the. Manufacturer so rei also does that for. Their customers anyway don't want to. Dwell too much on this in terms of. Performance it's very warm for its. Weight and the face fabric which is. Super thin has held up really well you. No i wear a backpack every day and you. Do not see any signs of wear on the. Shoulders the floor even though it. Doesn't have an adjustment fits pretty. Well except on really windy days so. There's also no signs of wear for. Abrasion where the backpack is so if it. Were not for the stitching coming off i. Think for the most part the materials. Used are very durable I've had no issues. With the zipper and you've got a pretty. Nice zipper garage up there. And this is a ykk i believe this is a. Ykk vislon zipper which is better than. The zipper on the cerium lt as far as. Most reviews are concerned these do not. Get stuck or snag as much as the i think. Coil zippers are they that's what they call them just put some comments below if i butchered that anyway I'm just gonna. Show you guys how the jacket fits so you. Don't have to go to my last video and. That's about it weighs eight and a half. Ounces I'm gonna pause and put it in its. Stuff sack that way you guys have a. Reference for packed size and weight so. Here is the ghost whisperer down hoody. Right next to a 1 liter nalgene just for. Size comparison it does not compact as. Small as its previous iteration which. Was the 850 fill power down that had a. Smaller pocket a big advantage is that. The larger pocket makes it easier to stuff the jacket in there and also you. Just have more space for more things in. Your pockets the jacket weighs in at. Ain't 8.4 ounces so it's very light you. Can still compress this smaller. If you are one of those people that. Brings compression sacks but i have no. Problem with the size of this jacket in. Terms of its compressed or packed size usually I'll actually just roll the. Jacket and stuff it into its own hood and then throw that thing in my backpack so i don't even use this still pocket. That much anyway I'll be showing you. Guys to fit up the jacket and then I'll. Be heading to aragon sports today and. Sort of saying goodbye to this jacket not sure if they're gonna be shipping. The same jacket back to me or if they're. Just going to replace it hopefully they. Will be able to repair this jacket i do. Like the color and I'm a big fan of the. Ghost whisperer despite some of the. Damages that this jacket has incurred i. Still, have my old version and that thing. Still going strong just not a big fan of. The color which is yellow so alright. Moving on to the next part of the video. Which is the fit so i just wanted to. Show you guys the fit of mountain harbor. Ghost whisperer without having to refer. To other videos I'm 5 foot 8 currently. Weighing in between 193 195 pounds right. Now i wear size large and pretty much. All outdoor jackets and you know regular. Clothing so the fit of the jacket is. Pretty basic its athletic a little bit. Roomier around the torso then the. Arc'teryx serum lt or cerium sl and. For those who haven't seen that video you could look at the cerium sl hoody. First impressions review and comparison video now there is no hood adjustment. But the hood it's pretty well collar. Comes up pretty you know pretty high. Right under the chin but still pretty. Comfortable the sleeves are nice and. Long even though I'm a fairly short guy. I have a 72-inch reach so the arms are. Long enough even though i have to put. Then over my head the one thing that i. Do miss with this jacket is the. Articulation of that sort of that sort. Of a diamond looking piece that arc'teryx has for articulation on their. Pieces which is not present here but the. Jacket is roomy enough and mobile enough. It's a little shiny a little crinkly. This piece though i found that the seven. Didn't ear fabric on the ghost whisperer. Is noticeably wind proof or more wind. Proof than the cerium sl hoody which is. Why i would choose this over this area. Msl hoodie $350. Eight and a half ounces and a lifetime. Warranty granted not the most convenient. Lifetime warranty which is all about. Patagonia for all of you people out there who want that best warranty as far. As i know how to go nia has the best warranty there is for outdoor gear really cool feature there just one hand. Drawstring action we release that draw cord as well. And you just pull with one hand to seal. In the air the hand pockets are also set. Above your hips or right by the hips. Technically speaking but it's very easy. Started to break off on this particular jacket I'm not sure how many reports. They get you know in terms of quality. Control but i see that this particular. Piece some of the stitching was coming. Off so I'll be bringing this back to the retailer which is paragon sports and. Mounting hardware has a pretty decent. Policy at least it shows you know you can mail it back to them they're going to take a look at it either repair or replace it just make sure that you don't have the jacket prepared by yourself or. Somebody else because that does point the lifetime. So anyway I'll be going to the top of. This little guy very windy 37 degrees. But with the windchill feels like 22. I've got a little zip top under this and. It's holding up pretty well anyway that's it for now and I'll be showing. Updates and how do you guys know us well now that warranty is i think that should. I'm wearing the outdoor research men's fur oc 3/4 pants these pants are great. For climbers who want that extra protection that shorts don't offer but. Not a full-length pant or backpackers. Who just want that extra breath ability that comes from something that's a little bit shorter than those full length pants the materials and the design of these is very lightweight very. Streamlined and very athletic you've got durable 90 d ripstop. Materials it's a nylon spandex blend so. It is super stretchy and super breathable you get a little bit of wind and water resistance with these pants so. They are going to offer protection but mostly you're getting that abrasion resistance with that single woven soft shell material they do have that 3/4. Length design as i mentioned, so they don't go all the way down to the ankles or to the feet you've got a really neat. Little drawstring at that 3/4 cutoff though so you can as a single pull one-handed just cinch that down so for. Climbers who are maybe working a route where they don't want to get their need banged up you can cinch that down have the protection or backpackers if you're integrating these with gaiters you can easily cinch that down, so they don't move around and get loose and awkward on. You it's a really convenient design with that cinch you do have pockets as well we've got two standard front pockets. Pretty deep pockets with mesh backing, so they are going to help with moisture wicking and breath ability you've got a single zip tie pocket so it's going to work with a climbing harness going to have another place for you to store some extra items and you've got a single back. Zipper pocket so you've got a storage option on the back side of the pants as well there are belt loops with the pants so. You can integrate a belt with this and it is a very low-profile waist so it's. Going to work really well with a climbing harness there is a moisture. Wicking band on the inside of the waist so it's going to help with the breath ability and the overall comfort and it just has a really nice low profile design it's pretty athletic fit. With these pants but you've got gusseted. Crotch you've got articulated knees you've got all the features that are going to allow for a full range of motion with that movement mirroring. Hello and welcome to another rock climbing life video i am your host jeff safford today I'm reviewing one of my favorite climbing pants the outdoor research for oc pants ok today I'm. Reviewing the outdoor research / oç pants I've talked a lot about the first he pants on my in my videos i reviewed. The 3/4 length pants and also the jacket but today I'm reviewing the pants and the first thing i want to say before i. Review these pants is that i am extremely picky with climbing pants i. Would say out of all the articles of clothing for like technical wear or. Outdoor wear I'm I'm probably the most. Picky about climbing pants it's because. I want them to be you know almost feel. Like they're not even there i want them to be breathable and light i don't want. Then to restrict my hip motion i-i've. Pretty long legs and I'm about 6 1 so i. You know anytime a high step i don't. Want to have like thick pants that restrict any motion at all i want them to be breathable and not be too. Hot to wear but at the same time I'm only wearing pants when it's a little bit cold out in the morning or windy out during the day so i also want them to protect my lower legs from the elements. And keep me warm so as you can tell like. The list is pretty long for what i require out of a climbing pant and the. The pants that actually accomplish that list are pretty small but the fur oc. Pants from outdoor research is one. Make and model that actually meets all. Of my requirements for a climbing pant so i like to have talked about before in. My previous videos about the furrows ease this material is really great it's. It's lightweight its breathable its wind. Resistant and it's slightly watered resistant as well so it's just a great. Stretchy material kind of has these magic properties it's its really fantastic but these pants.they are just. There's their form-fitting, but they're not too tight and, and they move myth. With me very well so you know like i. Said I'm super picky about pants but i think that these are our win so. Different from my other reviews i had. Only had the pants for a few months well these are not super old but I've had those other articles there's other. Foressi items for quite some time so i can talk about the durability of the. Foressi material and i can tell you that it's super durable now it may not look. Durable b and the reason is that when. You wear them for an extended period of time or they encounter lots of abrasion against the rock they kind of fray and. Pill kind of like a worn sweatshirt or a. Warm fleece, so they kind of have that pilling action, and they don't look as. Smooth as when they're brand-new when they're brand-new they look super smooth, but they start to fray with wear however. They've never ripped on me and the. 3/4 length pant that I've had i believe for a couple years now the thighs. Are pretty worn looking however they've never ripped I've actually cut my leg or. Like above my knee and actually been bleeding underneath the pant but the pants have never ripped so the material is super adorable and has like a rip stop cape property but even though they. Look like they're worn so don't be fooled you know if you're if you're froz pants or your jacket start to look a little bit worn there they're not going. To rip on you and i don't think they're going to fail so that'll occur about after a season of use they'll start to look that way, but they're gonna keep on going for you but. Other parts of this pant that i really like i really like this thigh pocket this is great for a cellphone it's kind of taped or seamed on there so. It's its really low profile you don't. Even feel that it's there you don't know that it's there just has a small zipper so that's that's a great feature that the back of the. Pant has a zipper pocket on the right rear and you know either. It's gusseted allows free-range of motion and then also unlike their other 3/4. Length pants these have a drawstring closure, and they're really. Well designed the little buckle that. Keeps the elastic drawstring is actually. Hidden kind of like in this little pocket underneath here so it doesn't rub against your leg it doesn't you know. Kind of bother your leg at all and it's kind of just tucked out of the way but. Other than that these are really great pants like i said I'm super picky about. Pants I've only found a couple on the market from different climbing manufacturers that meet my specs you. Now they don't absorb water i really. Like them a lot but the only downside i. See with the fur oc pants specifically. You know the full-length pant these are a regular length now owe our makes a. Short length but they don't make a long. And i really think that they need to make a long again I'm six one, so they're. Just cut a little bit too short from my liking i would prefer if they made a long you know and help dial us tall guys. They already make it short so if you're shorter go with the short if you're tall. Or you know regular height go with the regular but hopefully they make a long. Pant length in the near future and. Another thing with the waist as far as the fit i think the hips fit well at first they feel a little bit tight in. The hip, but they seem to almost come just they just stretch with you and move with you so really great properties of the material inside of the waist has. Like a fleece or a chamois material so. They won't slide if you're wearing you. No like under armour or like boxer shorts underneath they won't kind of slide down they'll stay in place and at the same time wick. A little bit of sweat as well so overall. Give the frosty pants a try they've made. Designed for cooler weather backpacking snowshoeing ski touring or alpine. Conditions the outdoor research men's. Cirque pants are a great soft shell pant. For when mobility is necessary in the back country let's take a look at all of their features these pants are constructed with a durable double weave. Softshell fabric that gives it really nice stretch really nice mobility to the. Whole system and it's very comfortable it's got a polyester backing so it lays. Really nicely against the skin or layers. Well if you're using a lightweight base layer underneath it does have a brushed. Nylon face fabric so that's really good at helping to shed that snow that mud or. That precipitation in the event that it starts to rain on you they are a highly. Water-resistant pant, but they're not completely waterproof so keep that in mind when picking up the cirque pants. But they have a really nice feel and a very comfortable fit all while being very stretchy to offer great mobility so. Really nice fit and feel to the cirque. Pants some features that the cirque. Pants offer are a button and zippered. Fly with a kind of elastic adjustment on. The waistband so you can actually cinch the fit down if you need to, and they're also belted loops so you can use a belt if you choose to do so there we've also got two and two front. Suspender loops with a rear suspender loop so you can attach accessory suspenders if you choose to they do not come with the pants they are sold separately when it comes to pockets we've got two front zippered pockets one. Back zippered pocket and 1 YYY. On the right side so you've got some. Different areas to stow away some gear and you can zip them up to make sure that it stays secure when you're moving around in the outdoors so some nice. Features going on there we do have a nice gusseted crotch and articulated knees so you've got really good mobility. And of somewhat more loose fit in those. Areas and in combination with that soft shell fabric you just get all-around good from the pants all the way down toward. The cuff region we've got a reinforced. Nylon ankle guard so you've got a really. Mice protected material there it's gonna add some really good durability in that. Section you've got a couple other nice features down in the foot area such as a. Bootlace tab so you can actually attach these directly to the boot laces so that they don't ride up or create any. Unnecessary or unwanted gapping so almost like you would find in a gator. These guys have that lace clip there that lace hook to really cinch it down you've got some other nice things going. On the underside like a tab for an. Instep lace and again they're just really nicely designed they work well with gaiters if you choose to but are gonna give you really good water resistance and weather resistance if you just want to wear them by themselves these pants have a fairly snug or. Athletic fit they're not super tight but. They're not regular loose fit pants they. Give you more of that athletic feel you know stand low profile so you could. Layer under them with a light or a mid weight base layer, but they are meant to be a more active pant, so they give you that slightly more snug fit and it still. Feels nice you i don't feel restricted in them at any point at any you know any. Movement is still easy you know because. Of that soft shell that double weave stretch fabric and you know all that mobility with the articulated knees and. The gusseted crotch so although they do have a more tailored fit they are still. A very mobile pant so a really nice feel. To the through the circle pants here so. There you have it with a light and durable soft shell material that provides good weather protection in those cooler temperatures the outdoor research men's cirque pants option for. When you need to be mobile in the back country.

All right so I'm a 35 waist and i have. On the 32 of the convertible gorilla cps. From outdoor research this is what they. Look like all right it was like impossible for me to buy these all right. So basically these pants can be purchased one size smaller than what you would normally wear if you wear a 36 you can get the 34 if you wear a 34 you can get the 32 they're stretchy pants and. The waistline is slightly stretchy i found that the waistline on the 36 in the thirty-fourth was very stretching and it had no belt or drawstring and if. You're going convertible adding the belt. Kind of adds unnecessary weight the whole idea is to keep your pants out of. Your pack by having pants that convert into shorts now obviously that's kind of. Nerdy but they call it a gear geek for a. Reason you know if your if when you put your pants in your pack the pack in. The pants add weight and bulk to your pack, and they also get wrecked if you. Keep your pants in your pack the whole entire summer you're carrying around something that adds bulk and weight to your pack and your pack is bigger and heavier than it should be and at the end. Of the summer when you go to get your pants they're wrecked they're full of mildew etc so the idea with convertible. Pants is that you're wearing shorts and you don't have your pants in your pack you know if you carried board shorts and kept your pants in your pack yeah board shorts are awesome but having your pants. And your pack is wrong when you have convertible pants you still are wearing. Your pants you have them on you and you can put your ankles from the convertible pants you know you can stow those with. Your poncho or something else that you don't usually use so when. You buy the pants a size smaller than normal like for instance these are a 32 instead of a 34 i don't need a belt so i. Got rid of the belt and also the side pocket which holds your cell phone that. Has a tendency to hit doorways and furniture as you walk past them because the pants are usually too baggy these pants are not baggy they're very straight legs and that prevents your iphone from hitting stuff as you walk by. Because you know like the little 4-inch iphone se it's probably the best phone to bring traveling but it's very fragile if it. Hits a doorway or a table as you walk by because it's in your cargo pocket it's. Broken more or less i mean it damages the phone and so having the hip pocket that cargo pocket close to the. Leg it prevents the phone from hitting. Stuff as you walk by which is a nice feature now i tried on the 36 furro c's. Which were more like a 40 waist 4 oc pants i tried on the 34 which were more. Like a 37 and i tried on the 30s which i. Couldn't they were too small i as well. Tried the 36 in the pro no stretch sian. Convertible pant which was like a very heavyweight a plastic form of denim it. Was like basically denim blue jeans that. Are very tougher for hunting and bushwhacking, but they were made out of plastic so that they dry quicker than cotton, and they were just too heavy. They're 15 ounces i also tried on the outdoor research convertible pants which. Were uncomfortable they don't stretch at all there are only four and a half ounces, so they're half the weight of the other guys but you lose a lot of comfort. With weight with the mountain sorry I'm. Not sure if i said alpha research or mountain hardwear the mountain hardwear mesa convertible pants they're half the. Weight of all the other convertible pants, but they're not comfortable so if. You were to go 36 if you were to get the. Mountain hardwear 36 mesa convertible. Pants in order to make them more comfortable because they don't stretch you would save a little bit of weight but the truth is that the outdoor research fer oc pants can be bought one. Size smaller so you can wear a 32 if you. Wear a 34 the 32 is actually out. Slightly lighter than the 34 so the. Amount of weight that you shave by using the mountain hardwear convertible pants. You can actually get that by going one size smaller with the furrow sees or something similar and I've been wearing the fro c's for a day or two they're very comfortable and very happy with them they're very form fit you know yeah. They kind of fit kind of like a pair of boxers i mean they're pretty tight pants, but they're very breathable and stretchy and comfortable, and they fit perfect, so they've got plenty of pockets they've got two zippered pockets on the back which is important they've got a zippered cargo pocket they've got two pockets on the front now if you go small with these convertibles you'll notice that the two front pockets are not really easy to get your hands into they're a little form fit it's a little bit tight but definitely usable I'm. Pretty happy with this i am also really interested in the Monticello convertible pants because they come with a belt you know they're only 11 ounces and you can. Pull the belt close so you can get that if the 34 is or the thirty-six's are slightly too big you can pull on that you can cinch the belt, and they come in. Cool colors but you know it's another eighty bucks to spend and I'm pretty happy with the frosty's that I've got. They're their correct color and so i don't know why i would buy another pair of convertible pants when i should be wearing these and just learning how to use the ones that I've got you know i think that these are gonna be my go to and i should just figured that figure. Out these 32 waist outdoor research 4 oc. Convertible pants.

Abrasion-resistant super stretchy lightweight and very comfortable the. Outdoor research 4 oc crag pants are a. Great pant for climbing or long days in. The mountains let's take a look at their construction and their materials these pants are constructed with a really nice lightweight but abrasion resistant material and in the side panels and knees or areas where you're gonna see some high wear specifically while climbing they do have a reinforced panel. So throughout the whole side panel here and all the way down to the knee of the pant we've got kind of that extra doubled up reinforced material for. Enhancement durability for the pants some features on these pants include two. Standard front pockets a nice stretchy mesh backed pockets, so they'll enhance. Your breath ability in the pants as well in the back we just have one zippered. Pocket so there's a secure pocket on the back side and one zippered thigh pocket. Here as well so good for storing those smaller items you may want to keep a little bit more easily accessible but also secure on the sides we've got each. Two stretchy little loops, and they're designed for toothbrushes so if you're out bouldering and you need to carry your brushes with you want to have them quick and easy to access we've got these two loops on the sides of the pants and in the back there's a slightly larger loop where you can clip a chalk bag again if you're out bouldering or doing any type of climbing so great little additions to the pants there. We do have adjustment at the ankles of. The pants so you can kind of pull them up to get out of the way of your climbing shoes and cinch them down, so they stay nice and snug there the fit of these pants is a fairly athletic fit so. They fit pretty trim we do have an.
