So here we are at nine mile creek i. Wonder why they call it. Anyways we're here to look at the outdoor research helium hybrid jacket so. Let's take a look at this date right now. Time of this video when i purchased this jacket this retailed for one hundred and. Forty five dollars at rei now i normally. Wear a large size jacket a large size. Shirt all that kind of thing however this is a little bit more trim and i. No I'm going to be laying layering underneath it so i had an order and extra-large just to make it a little bit more comfortable so keep that in mind as you're looking to layers you might need to go one size up so since this is the. Extra-large it comes in at a nine and a. Half ounce weight or 268 grams the large. Is a little bit less but for this one on my scale that's what we're looking at as far as total weight goes So we're at nine mile creek parks it's. Named because the creek runs nine miles, but we're underneath the hunter and sixth street bridge which offers us some of this rain protection right now so as. You can see I've been walking around in the rain for quite a bit I'm wearing. This light grey t-shirt and the rain has not soaked through so that's thanks to the 2.5 pertex. Shield rain barrier it's a breathable membrane while remaining waterproof pretty damn snazzy as far as the. Material goes it is a 30 d ripstop nylon. Which is waterproof and it's lightweight. Which i really love underneath you can see this panel is a little bit. Different that's because instead of pit. Zips they're using a porosity material. And what it's for i see material us porosity material is a material that. Outdoor research came up with may make actually a hoodie out of that stuff it's called a frosty hoodie now that's the same material that lines the underside of the sleeves and down the sides that's to allow a lot more breath ability know it. Is 86 percent nylon 14 percent spandex. It's when resistant it's water-resistant because it's treated with a dwr so yes. The underside is not waterproof however when you're hiking in the rain you're hiking usually down here like this you're not hiking in the rain like this so far it has not leaked underneath. And soaked through so far it's breathing I'm out really sweaty underneath because it is a humid day so i think the integration of that material. Underneath has worked out pretty awesome so far and it does offer full adjust ability with your waist cinch here. But the main zipper features an inside. Storm flap and an exterior storm flap to. Really make your main zipper waterproof. Now once you get everything cinched up. You have your main chest pocket here with an aqua guard zipper so that keeps it very water-resistant your main hand pockets or zippered as well the left side pocket features a keyring and. One of the pockets also serves as a stuff sack so you can stuff the jacket in itself stow it away and you're good. To go as far as the hood goes it is. Adjustable with a tensioner right back here so once you get it you can cinch it. Up to tighten it all the way around your face the brim has a wire lined brim to. It so it keeps it stiff upfront so once. You zip everything up cinch everything down as soon as your face off really. Really well keep the driving rain out much as possible let's talk about the cuffs for. A second there's no buttons or no velcro. Adjustments it's just a low-profile elastic cuff which is fine because even. With the ones that you can cinch down the little water will leak inside the sleeve anyway but this is nice and low-profile it works out really well especially to go over a watch or something like that so cuffs pretty good another feature. That i really like especially with rain jackets when you're if you have to bend over and things like that the back always seems to be too short but outdoor. Research thought of that, and they added extra length to the back so the back of this jacket is 29 and a quarter inches. So it's pretty long so if you bend over you still have cover pretty good. So it looks like the rain is letting up just a little bit which is a perfect opportunity to show you the inside of. The jacket the altima research not only. Do they put that 2.5 pertex layer in. There to help the waterproofness of material, but they fully taped the scenes. From the shoulders to where the arms. Meet up even the hood all fully seam. Sealed so that's pretty darn cool so i. Would say all-in-all the outdoor. Research helium hybrid rain jacket is a pretty darn good jacket that. Marries worlds of pack ability and functionality too but i would say in a. Heavy downpour like in the other rain jacket of this kind it will soak through but quick rain showers quick. Downpours you're probably been alright for hours on end of downpours it's gonna soak through but for the price point of. $145 not so bad. I'm wearing the outdoor research men's helium hybrid jacket really slick piece. Ideal for highly aerobic pursuits a. Trail running perhaps cross-country skiing but. Anything where you're going to be on the move you need some weather protection but you also need a high level of breath ability so you've got dual fabrication going on. In this jacket definitely a high level of breath ability as you would want again. For high aerobic activities you've got that in the nylon ripstop body of this. Jacket but sometimes you need some. Weather protection too so in those key areas the shoulders the hood you. Actually have a 30 d pertex shield. Fabric so i waterproof breathable protection again in those key areas most. Exposed to the elements definitely an athletic cut to this jacket which again. Makes a lot of sense when you think about what it's being used for not going. To get a lot of other layers beneath this only lowest profile base. Layers certainly over a t-shirt leaves a. Lot of room to put layers over top of it so and it's an interesting mid layer but. Again i think of this more as a really lightweight outerwear piece does have. Elasticity at the cuffs which is nice. Keep those sleeves from rolling up also keeps it where you want it to be a. Single point of adjust ability on the hem. So a single pool cinch that jacket in. And get that much better of a fit because of it definitely some. Adjustability on the hood as well more. Of a streamlined fit then you're seeing on some jack as more alpine style jackets that are more accepting of a. Hood because this is a better fit for your actual head in keeping with that. Streamlined athletic fit throughout the jacket so you can see the helium hybrid jacket stuffed into that chest pocket. Really slim compact design weighs next. To nothing and definitely throw this inside a pack be that a backpack add a pack or running pack and have it when you need it the. Outdoor research men's helium hybrid. Jacket personally really looking forward. To running in this piece i think it's just that perfect combination of. Readability and just enough weather protection.

I'm wearing the outdoor research helium hybrid hoody this is a super lightweight. Waterproof jacket that's designed to keep you dry but breathe really well with an interesting blend of materials so outdoor research has taken this jacket and eliminated any pit zips or like. Optional ventilation and included the. Favored four oc fabric in the underarms. And the sides of the jacket so you've got a super lightweight pertex shield. Plus fabric the two and a half layer. Waterproof breathable membrane about 30. D so it is very lightweight in the chest back and shoulders but under the arms. And on the side panels you've got a 90 d stretch woven shell so it is that furro. C soft shell material with that pertex. Waterproof breathable membrane so it creates a really nice hybrid body map. Design again the shell fabrics are fully. Waterproof in this piece aside from those side panels and underarms they are designed to enhance the breath ability overall so you're really going to get. Great airflow and ventilation with this jacket with those panels and those are. The areas that are least susceptible to weather so you're still going to stay dry when wearing this in a light rain in. Super heavy downpours or monsoons you may get a little wet but not necessarily. What the jacket was designed for so really great materials throughout really. Lightweight as well I'm wearing a large here and it generally comes in around eight and a half ounces obviously the size or the weight will vary by size. It's got a lot of features with the jacket to make it really great for backpackers climbers ultralight enthusiasts you've got two side pockets. Lower pockets and there's zipper closures there so you've got kind of guarded zippers and those pockets have. Some doubled features as well their mesh. Lined in the back so if you get a little. Warm in the jacket you can open those up and it's really going to help to dump some extra heat there's that mesh there. Is really breathable and the left pocket. Here actually doubles as a stuff for the jackets you can reverse it on itself clip it to a harness throw it in. A backpack or some luggage and have a really easy pack size there you do have. A full length center front zipper and it does have kind of this storm flap closure there and you've also got a storm flap on the backside as well so. It's really going to help to seal out any of that moisture really easy to zip up and down and comes up to a nice zipper garage at the top you've got a. Single chest zipper as well and that. Also has that water resistant zipper so. Really easy to access some smaller items and again that pocket is mesh lined as. Well so it can also double as a vent if. You need it to the jacket does have a. Hood so fully waterproof hood on the. Piece does have a sculpted brim with a. Little bit of a wire in there so it's really going to maintain its shape in really windy conditions pretty simple. Hood not really any adjustment aside from on the backside here you can cinch it down to get better peripheral vision but overall pretty standard fit on the. Hood there the cuffs are semi bound. Cuffs so they do cinch down a little bit around the wrist but not super tight, so they're going to provide a nice comfortable fit and you do have a hem on. The jacket and does have a draw cord on the right-hand side so you can cinch that down pretty easily to keep things nice and secure this jacket is a trim. Fit so again i said I'm wearing a large I'm about 175 and about six two and it's. Pretty snug so with those stretch panels. On the sides and underarms you still get some mobility and easy movement but there's not a lot of room for layers underneath i just have a kind of. Mid weight fleece under here and a t-shirt so to reference the sizing there. It is a pretty trim fit jacket designed for those athletic pursuits overall this. Is a really great jacket for those ultralight enthusiasts or climbers needing emergency weather protection you've got taped seams waterproof performance with that pertex shield plus. Fabric but extreme mobility and breath ability with. That furro see stretch material in the. Side that stretch material again is. Highly water resistant so it will still stay pretty dry with this jacket if. They're susceptance a but generally. I'm tyler with trail for two and it has. Been a while since we posted a video lately and especially together so as we. Are kind of preparing for this upcoming backpacking season just like every season and just like I'm sure most of you are doing at home right now I'm kind of refining your year list looking through your gear seeing what gear needs to be updated seeing what gear you can cut weight on and in the process of that. One of the items that we came across was a rain jacket, and we weren't happy with. Our current rain jackets and wanted. To upgrade to something that was lighter and kind of would fit into more of the. Ultralight or lightweight backpacking realm, so we need came across this these. Are the ori helium two rain jackets and. The women's small comes in at five point. Five ounces in men's i have a man's. Small here and it's five point seven. Four ounces so as you see they're. Stuffed into their own little pockets here close with the velcro but something. That we in doing the research you know. It is called the helium so obviously indicates that it's pretty lightweight. Something that we wanted to do was obviously have a functional rain jacket. That was still in the realm of that. Lightweight category and so there are other competitors out there that have similar items that are lightweight rain jacket options but. In reading most of the reviews that we had read and just doing the research this is what the as far as features go. This is what we decided would best fit. Our needs so another one that we were. Looking at there was a close competitor was by anti-gravity gear i don't know. The exact model name of it but overall the helium came out on top, so we'll go. Ahead and talk about some of those features so it doesn't actually have a lot of features but one feature that's pretty cool is on the inside it has what's called a pertex shield and it. Really is waterproof I've been out in the storms in this thing and i haven't. Got it gotten wet at all it's really breathable more breathable than other waterproof. Jackets that I've had and there aren't things like pit zips to reduce weight and things like that but it doesn't need them because it is more breathable than. A lot of other jackets out there and in part of their success in cutting the. Weight you don't have things such as pockets but if you're wearing this jacket while you're hiking if you're through hiking pockets you know you have pant pockets you don't necessarily need a pocket for your jacket to stuff things. Into so it is a pretty basic functioning. Rain jacket in that regard there's been something that is not too great for me i don't wear pants with pockets I'll usually wear yoga pants or something like that when I'm hiking and so it's a little bit inconvenient not to have the pocket but it ends up being okay because as you can see this it's pretty roomy and there's enough room to fit another jacket underneath and i do get really cold so it's nice to be able to fit another jack underneath and I'll just use the pockets in that jacket it does. Have this chest pocket that's cellphones. I wish so you can fit snacks so phone. Anything you want in that chest pocket it also has this inside pocket which the. Jacket stuffs into and you can use it. For whatever you want as well um. Something that i kind of set this apart. From the other jacket also was the hood. And also you see as it's high you have a. Hood that is adjustable the brim isn't. Very sturdy it's pretty thin and flimsy. But is to be expected by the typical. Adjustment here on the hood and it does cinch pretty well here so if you were concerned about wearing some sort of. Down jacket underneath it does a nice. Job sealing off any entry points of. Water so you would be safe to wear a down jacket underneath so that's kind of what she do I'm getting this great if. You can't you can't see how I'm sure but. It does be dried up like she said she has won it out in the rain i have as well. We live in washington and so this is. Something to that i mean kind of testing out I'm just kind of thrown on running. Errands to kind of see how it kind of works out and it is worked out quiet. Nicely so this is something that we expect to be in our packs for a. While when it comes to backpacking for. This up season so on the on their site i believe. It if they run right around $100 maybe a little bit more 115 but it is a very. Reasonable option for a lightweight rain jacket something that taylor was saying. Is that the brim is flimsy actually. Comparatively, to other jackets it's not flimsy it has something like its kind of stiff floozy for a really durable. Heavier rain jacket but stiff for a. Really lightweight jacket and that's something I'm actually worried about I'm afraid that I'm going to mess up the brim when i stuff it into its pocket. That i can be stuffed into these like that i don't have any complaints that. Would make me not want to bring it along and i like it a lot it works really well. For any rain or outdoor needs i would. Wear this in a really heavy storm and it's a purchase that we really love this. Year.

Hey guys damn from voyages here back with another review today I'm in desolation wilderness about a mile from lake tahoe, and we review. The arc'teryx adam sl hoodie that's. That's the thing I'm wearing right now that the jacket is this jacket the one. I'm wearing now this is the lighter. Weight version of the very popular adam. Lt hoodie this minimalist style jacket. Is designed to be something you can wear in varied climates it has a fleece. Lining all the way down the side here. Which is excellent for breath ability and allows that moisture and heat to escape from the side when it's a little too warm the jacket also does have a cinch. On the bottom as well so you can get it really nice and tight around your waist that way the heats not escaping from the bottom this is a very lightly insulated. Jacket it has 40 grams of synthetic core. Loft insulation and that insulation is. Where you need it most in the core this sleeves actually are not insulated they're a combination of fleece as well. As the rain resistant denier fabric the. Hood of the jacket also uninsulated it. Has a drawstring here on the back for. Adjusting which i think is excellent to have an uninsulated hood it works really. Well to fold up your jacket into the hood and cinch it closes and the hood does a pretty good job of keeping out when and light weather the jacket. Actually has two large pockets on each side, and they're quite spacious however there. Is no chest pocket so they gave you just. What you need and nothing more so i just. Under 10 ounces the jacket is extremely lightweight and pack able which makes it excellent for traveling now being that this jacket is from our tech's the fit is really what sets it apart this is a slim fit jacket that works really well. Within a layering system because it allows you to layer stuff over it but also it's gonna allow you to have a couple of base layers underneath and still be comfortable I've seen people who claim that the jacket has magic powers and it can go down to 20 degrees and still be comfortable that's not true. It's an extremely versatile jacket it. Really responds well to changing climate so this is a jacket you can wear winter. Summer spring fall as a weird order so. This is a jacket you can wear all year round because of the light insulation it works really well for temperate and cool climates even when you layer this jacket. With several other layers i would say if you're gonna be in a climate that's colder than 25 degrees most likely. You're gonna need a little more insulation than this provides so I've go something a little bit heavier now I've had this jacket for just over three months now and i found to be very durable i really like the fact that you can machine wash it which makes it super easy to clean i haven't had any wear or. Visible wear yet on the jacket in the three months so i do have a couple of gripes about this jacket first one is. It's pretty expensive that's just kind of standard for our tariffs and it is comfortable to other jackets of similar. Uses like the patagonian nano air light the reason why i bought this jacket over. The nano air light is because this jackets a little bit more professional-looking i can get away with wearing it at work and it's got the full zip so it vents a little bit better another small gripe i would have liked the jacket to be about an inch longer oftentimes when I'm wearing at my shirts just a little longer than the jacket and it looks kind of strange while it is a little pricey i do use this jacket. Almost every day so it's worth it for me and i think that most people will get the same kind of use out of it this jacket is so versatile and lightweight there's no reason to leave it behind so overall i would rate this jacket 8 9 out. Of 10 it's extremely versatile so far. It's been very durable it's warmer than i expected it works extremely well. Within a layering system and it looks. Hey everyone gear review or three one two here today we're gonna be reviewing the arc'teryx head um lt vest. First impressions love it awesome. It's arc'teryx i have a number of their products as usual this one's phenomenal. Today I'm going to kind of go over a quick breakdown of my impressions and. You know everything about the best itself and if you have any questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out let's. Start with some basics this is the. Carbon color men's medium I'm 5 foot 10. I weigh 170 pounds as things that's perfectly i wouldn't recommend anything smaller or. Larger severe same size medium and. Adjust accordingly the vest has cored. Loft i kept the tag on so that you could. See that quick background i have the. Arc'teryx atom lt hoodie which i love i. Wear it all the time and i wanted this. On this vest because i felt it would be. Good for weather around 30 to 50 degrees. I live in chicago so the weather is all. Over the place so it's nice to have something for that range although i could wear the hoodie. Admiralty hoodie if i wanted to but just. A different change of pace so anyways the quarter lot where it's just really well no complaints keeps you. Warm breeze well a great product it. Really does alright so let's do a little. Little closer breakdown as you can see. This kinda has like a rip stop nylon. Appearance to it. To the left of it this is standard with. The atoms it's more of a mesh material. Okay one thing that did throw me off. Guard though was in the inside as you. Can see right here it's kind of like an. Elastic band that is actually kind of. Cool because it keeps the vast more snug. Around your head so wind doesn't kind. Only fly up and get into the jacket so. You're well insulated with this again it. Does breathe well in these side panels. Really help with the breath ability i. Purchased mine from paragon sports and i. Was actually very impressed with their standard shipping i got it and i think three or four days so kudos to them the. Price point 149 which i think is. Standard all over the place i actually couldn't purchase it on the arc'teryx website because they were sold out, but they tell you to give paragon a try. Inside again on this side not much. Although i do love this like red kind of wine color and then on the right we have. A pocket which is nice there is a pocket. Here and then there's not a pocket on. This side. Other than that there's not a lot. To describe i mean if you're looking for a best if you're looking for probably the best that you can buy for this. The end of this review you'll know if this shoe is right for you first off you need to know that these are extremely light running shoes coming in at eight point eight ounces for a size nine you're going to have a hard time finding trail shoes that are lighter than these keeping in mind that there a light shoe let's talk about the cons first protection with such a lightweight shoe they had to take away material from every part of the shoe in doing, so they left a very low to the ground feel which is nice but there's no rock plate or a. Thick rubber for protection and honestly some people like to feel connection to the trail but i run on rocky technical terrain and personally i prefer a little. But more protection than they shoe offer second tread in my opinion these. Lugs just aren't aggressive enough they do use continental rubber which is a good material but i want more aggressive tread for the terrain where i run which. Is usually loose rocky terrain third i. Like a low heel to toe drop and this. Comes in at eight millimeters which is a little high for my taste i personally. Like to be around six millimeters and under alright and that's not a huge list. Of cons but let's move on to the pros first let's talk about the lacing on the shoe this is something that is often overlooked but in my opinion can make or break a shoe i was expecting the lacing to be a con because minimalist shoes usually don't get the lacing system right but when you tighten the laces on. These shoes right here it won't slip so you don't lose the tension while you finish tying the rest of the shoe on top of that they've incorporated a thin layer of eb a like cushion type stuff in. The tongue between the laces and the top of your foot allowing for maximum comfort and i absolutely love this minimalist lacing systems have cut off. The circulation to the front of my foot in other shoes but these shoes do not have that problem because of that cushioning material right there second the upper construction i love the. Sock like fit the rip stop mesh is. Surprisingly and this shoe is extremely breathable third the weight you honestly feel like. You can fly in these they are light nimble and fast i love running fast in. These shoes at around 250 miles that are. Still, things about the shoes that are to be determined for example i can feel where my forefoot has started to compress the eba and with the small amount of cushion that i started with I'm worried did a cushion won't last much longer and the tread on the bottom of the shoe is already showing some wear and tear as for the upper i am very. Resistant welded portions that stuff. Will add stability and a little bit of protection for the top of your foot the. Lacing is fairly standard so you can get them as tight or as loose as you need to the mid sole you'll find some special. Densities of foam, and they'll give you enough protection to keep your foot from. Serious fatigue the boost mid sole is. Soft and adaptable it helps to absorb shock but give you that bounce to keep. You move efficiently you'll get a protection plate and a torsion bar under the foot as well to keep you protected despite the minimal stack height and drop on the outside you'll get a really. Beefy sole this tread was inspired by. Some burly mountain bike tires brought out by continental these three and a half millimeter lugs give you multi-directional traction and really great grip they'll dig in when you need to accelerate and help slow down when. You're braking the continental blend performs well across the board in wet or dry conditions you also get a pretty. Good amount of surface area with this tread as well so using them as an approach shoe isn't totally unreasonable. Over all these things are pretty sweet you can run hike scramble and maybe even. This is the Adidas outdoor men's tareq's a graphic speed trail running shoe it's. The lightest trail running shoe that Adidas outdoor offers it's flexible and grippy but still gives lots of cushions. Under the foot it fits like a sock and. Breathe really well you'll hardly notice that you're wearing them aside from the fact that you get actual cushion under your foot and you won't necessarily feel. Those rocks and roots on the trail the thing i like most about these shoes is that they don't have a tongue they don't. Really have any padding on the upper it's essentially a fully perforated evie a sleeve that you slide your foot into this gives you that sock like feel it's. Gonna fit snug while adapting to your foots movement and structure the upper. Is all mesh which covers that perforated. Eba and there are synthetic overlay portions which give the shoe some extra. Durability those overlays are welded which saves weight, so they won't slow. You down the mid sole is fairly simple one. The shoe in order to cut weight it's a. Lightweight evie a foam mid sole which gives you that long-term cushion and rebound and there's a slightly higher density foam in the heel to give you. That extra protection on those heel strikes inside the shoe unseen you'll. Get a torsion bar which helps with the rigidity of the shoe itself the stack. Height where actual amount of cushion is 22 millimeters and it drops to 14 in the. Forefoot so you'll get fairly minimal cushion with the shoe but it's still enough to stay comfortable on the trail the outsole is a mountain bike inspired. Tread based off of continentals speed king tires the lug pattern is fairly low. Profile at three millimeters but gives you really nice directional traction. That continental compound is known for. How well it performs in all conditions wet or dry overall this shoe is cool. It's super lightweight and nimble while providing enough protection for some fairly serious runs you get adaptability. A list of pros and cons things that I'd like things that i don't like about the shoe and hopefully it will give you an idea of whether you should buy it. So first off we're going to start with the drop i like a low drop shoe I've. Been running it ultras all of my road. Shoes have been low drop the highest. I'll go is six or seven and this is pushing at it's at six millimeters but i. Consider that fine especially since that is the lowest drop that Adidas offers at this point i believe the tread on the shoe you can see right here it's its. Pretty beefy and that's something that i. Really like in a trail shoe you want something that's going to grip and this does a really good job this is continental bike tire rubber I'm not. Really sure what it is but it does a. Good job all around like the i really. Like this oldest shoe it's good it's been grippy on wet surfaces on wet rocks it does well where it's super dusty and. A lot of loose dirt a lot of loose. Gravel it really grips all that with. Other brands of shoes I've had these lugs break off and i have yet to even see anything like that with this they. Have worn down a little bit but i have been running a little bit on the road with the wear and tear brings me to quality and i want to shoot this gonna last running shoes can be quite pricey. Which i will get into this shoes price. In a little bit i think this is a pretty high quality shoe I've probably put 200. Miles on these shoes and i have seen very little wear and tear so wait it's. Kind of inner battle whether to put it as a pro or a con it comes in at 11. Ounces which is slightly heavier than the ultras i was running in but that's probably because of this heavy-duty. Rubber that they have on the bottoms the cons with this thick rubber sole is the. Weight the pros with it is you're going. To get more protection this doesn't have a rock plate on it which leaves it very flexible and that's something that i really like in a shoe but without a rock plate you need protection and that's i think why they put such a thick rubber sole on it so you get protection and honestly it has great protection i run. Our very rocky trails up here in northern utah and i in previous years. I've really felt sharp rocks coming through and hurting the ball of my foot when I'm running and i haven't had any problems with this shoe even with the. Weight they still feel pretty fast and i think that's partly because of this boost material which brings me to the. Cushioning it's about a mid-range cushion it's not a minimalist i would. Say it leans on the more minimalist side but it's definitely in the mid range for cushion with this boost material i have run in Adidas boosts i ran the boston. Marathon and Adidas boost i can't remember which version it was but i. Could tell on those road shoes the boost. Material did have a lot of energy returned i don't feel it as much on this. I'm ok with that because the boost material seemed to be less stable and with this shoe they've put in this. Rubber around right here they've really. Done a good job of utilizing the boost material while at the same time giving you the stability that you need on the trail now we're going to move on to the upper you get quite a bit of protection there's a quite a bit of toe protection here this mess right here offers. Plenty of airflow i have I've had shoes in the past where. I didn't like them because my feet got super hot this shoe does not have that problem and that's awesome Adidas has made a tongue out of eba material it's not that usual cloth and. At first when i saw it i was a little worried i didn't think I'd like it but it does offer enough padding between. Your foot and the laces my two biggest complaints with this shoe are. Number one the lacing system and number. Two the fit and to show you here the. Lacing system is pretty they have the. Right idea it's just they need to change. Just a little bit so down here you can. See how the lacing system goes wide to kind of bring in that toe box i don't. Think you need that because of the fit is skinny i have an average. Width foot and it just feels tight the. The Biggest part of the lady lacing system that i thought was going to be a deal-breaker was right here on this shoe. Right here underneath and my foot is in the shoe on my outside two toes i get. Some rub in it i thought when i put this shoe on and i was walking around at the beginning i thought it was going to be a deal-breaker and i was going to hate this shoe but for some reason when i. Start running it's gone i don't i don't. Feel it doesn't bother me i don't understand why but as much as i thought. It was going to be a big deal it hasn't been another con and i told you to get. Into this is the price of this shoe is 135 dollars but you can't find. It cheaper camp saver comm has them for. 107 or something like that all in all. This shoe i think is a great trail shoe. A great option hopefully in the future versions of the shoe they will be. Able to fix the problems that it has, and they will have a better shoe i do not think that you will be disappointed in the shoe as long as you do not have an overly wide foot i already see the shoe because i am an Adidas outdoor ambassador i have not been paid to say. The outsole keep you connected to the trail the boost foam in the mid sole. Offers a lot of protection, and they blend a lot of different materials on. The upper to be very durable but as well. Offer breath ability let's take a closer. Look I'm going to start with a part of the shoe that comes into contact with the ground you've got continental rubbers here and. They have multi directional lugs the. Lugs are pretty deep as well so if you're in muddy areas if you're running. Over wet surfaces it doesn't matter what. The terrain is like these are going to be really sticky, and they're going to really stick to the trail to give you a lots of traction moving up into the. Midsole you have a couple of different materials here the standout feature is really the Adidas boost fun this boost. Foam gives you great energy return so the more you put into it the more it's going to bounce back it really reduces fatigue as you're running so this boost. Foam is meant to keep your legs fresher longer you're on the trail all day long. Giving you that great energy return so. That you can run that whole time so it's. That white part all through that mid sole. The platform here is a six millimeter. Drop so you have twenty-three and a half millimeters seventeen and a half millimeters from the heel to the forefoot so it's a pretty flat shoe they. Give you a natural foot strike while giving you just a little bit of drop there i really like the combination of. Materials in the upper part of the shoe they give a lot of durability so for. That runner who wants a shoe it's going to last a long time the runner who's not. Looking for an ultra lightweight trail running shoe but once something that's going to be durable this is going to hold up to a lot of use and abuse you've got overlays here at the welded. Construction so you can see this nice. Toe cap right here in the front gives you plenty of protection from rocks they have overlays that kind of go. Through the rest of the shoe and then. Back here in the heel area when you snug these shoes down it really snugs your heel into the back this tends to be an. Area of the shoe right here in the front and here on the back, and they feel that wears out quickly especially on my running shoes and so that's something i look for is a lot of durability in those key areas where you don't need as much. Durability they have lots of meshes so. Your foot is going to breathe something i really noticed about the tongue of these shoes you do have an e v a foam. Tongue so that really adapts to your foot and it is well padded but it's nice. And lightweight and have all kinds of breath ability there on that tongue when. You cinch down the laces the eyelets here kind of line up with a little bit. Of overlays there so it really cradles your foot it's a little bit of a stretchy material so it definitely cradles your foot to give a really nice and snug fit now you do have a sock. Liner in here that's removable it's. Really lightweight so if you want to remove it and use your own insole you can certainly do that but this will go a. Long way just for wicking and to give you a little bit of extra cushioning in the shoe weighing in under 10 ounces per. Shoe you have a great balance of durability traction protection and. What's up everybody it's a girl jam cam I'm here I'm just here to make a video to talk about these shoes they are the. Nike epic react fly net running shoe. These shoes are coming out on February 22nd i actually had the opportunity to go to new york recently to go to the. Shoe launch for these and after i posted it on my Instagram tons of people were asking me questions about the shoe so i thought i would just make a video i don't normally do videos like this but i thought it would be like the fastest and easiest way to kind of like address a bunch of questions that i had about the. Shoes so yeah I'm gonna do that right now. My first impression of the shoe when i saw them is that they're not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing shoe especially when you compare them to something like you know the Adidas ultra boost which is very loved for its style but i actually think they look really. Cool up close they're pretty minimal they're dropping in a couple of different colorways these i thought. They were black when i first saw them, but they're actually more of like a navy, and they have some sort of bright color. Accents on the battle overall i think. Aesthetically they're maybe not super pleasing, but they're not super ugly either and i do yeah like the colors that they're dropping in. First impressions when you pick up the shoe is they're super duper light this reacts foam this is really what the shoe. Is built around its kind of chunky in. Terms of the design but its superduper light and when you put them on to they feel like really light on your feet i. Would say that they are true to size i do have a bit of sort of like a narrow. Skinny foot and they were a snug fit on. Me so yeah maybe look at going half a. Size up but i would say that they're pretty true to size the react foam which. Is makes up sort of like the mid sole and the outsole is really the key thing on. These shoes this is nikes new technology at the launch they went through a bunch of different things that they've done to develop this foam it's pretty fascinating I'm not gonna go through it all here today but i would definitely look it up to see sort of the process. That they went through in order to develop this yeah basically they the shoes was designed with the help of algorithms that would analyze test run. Data and then make adjustments to the design based on what those algorithms. Found so yeah it's pretty fascinating its you know definitely really interesting use of technology and aiding design in new york we wore these for an. Activity that we did i wouldn't call it really a workout it was more of like a. Game a group game i definitely broke a sweat i was sweating more than i thought i was going to but yeah not a full workout but. She was held up really nicely and all the activities that were doing that included you know running sprinting jumping, and they were super duper comfortable the whole time. I think that these are a way better shoe for running than the vapor max i was. Actually kind of surprised at how much nike was pushing the vapor max as a running shoe when it first released i think that these are a much better option i actually hate the feeling of. The boost find it to be pretty like kind. Of bouncy and almost like springy feeling these don't have that feeling at all i found that the react was actually like the perfect marriage of being. Flexible but still actually being supportive and normally when you think. About those two properties they're kind of they're competing essentially but. Nikes figured out a way to make a shoe that you know is both supportive but. Also flexible and very light so very. Awesome. Also another great thing about these shoes is the price point is going to be you know pretty proper I'm not really sure where they're going to be in canadian but i know they're going to be 150 u.s. so I'm hoping that they're you. No 180 to 200 canadian which is a. Pretty good price point when you compare them to both ultra boost and the paperbacks. Overall i really like these shoes i definitely you know if you're a runner or if you're into like performance footwear i would definitely recommend checking them out you know go and trying them on and be open to trying them they're great i personally can't wait to. Today we're going to be talking about the tareq's to boa so i feel like. Innovation and running shoes is somewhat. Rare now so i look to see shoes that are challenging what's normal because of that innovation this review might take a little bit longer than the other ones because i want to cover that innovation in depth and that innovation is obviously the lacing system so let's just jump into it i believe they call it the boa system it is advertised as a. Finely tuned secure consistent hold it. Looks cool and i was super excited to try it and i have some complaints but i also have some things i like about it so let's talk about the complaints first the first thing isn't really a complaint. But it's a potential complaint I'm worried about the durability of the clicker I've been on a couple dozen runs and I'm about around 150 miles in these. Shoes and it shows no sign of wear and tear but if i happen to smash this. Clicker onto a rock is it gonna hold up or well break or will the clicker just. Wear out over a year of continual use i. Assume that Adidas took that into consideration and made a good product but that's something that only time will tell but if anything does happen in these shoes that i feel like you guys should know i will let you know in the comments below my second complaint is I'm not really a. Fan of how the shoe tightens since the clicker is at the top of the shoe the top of the shoe tightens quickly and the. Rest of the shoe doesn't adjust equally think about when you tie a normal shoe you usually grab the laces in the middle. And tighten those so that you get a nice snug fit in the forefoot and then you grab the ends of the laces and tighten that top section with this shoe it. Doesn't work like that with these shoes the string has no friction so you can't tighten the bottom half of the shoes with your fingers because as soon as you let go it loosens this is slightly. Frustrating but i don't feel like it's a deal breaker especially since I've noticed that as I'm running the tension. Distributes more equally throughout the shoe and then i can tighten it again one thing i do really like about this lacing system is how quick it is it's so easy. To loosen and tighten these shoes whether you're just putting them on or you want to crank them down a little bit tighter on the fly you don't have to take the time to untie and then retie these shoes for just minor adjustments with this new lacing system. The strengths are significantly thinner than normal shoelaces so to protect the. Top of your feet they incorporated a slightly thicker evie a tongue even though the tongue is slightly thicker than other similar tongues its still breathable one huge improvement that they made to the tongue is the notch that they put at the top of the tongue almost every shoe that I've. Had that edita makes with an levee a tongue the tongue will slide to one side while I'm running exposing my socks which allows more dirt and sand and rocks to get in there but with this notch it prevents that from happening as an important side note though with this tongue i have heard people complain about the tongue irritating that top. Section of their foot but i run in crew length socks so i don't have that issue but if you do run in low-cut socks that's something you might want to take into consideration along with the tongue being breathable this shoe has meshed in the areas that also need to be breathable and you can see the plastic welding in the front for protection and across the top for that solid fit that. You want the top box on this shoe is actually significantly wider than the other Adidas shoes that I've worn and i actually like that but some people like the narrow width of normal Adidas shoes. So if that applies to you might want. To keep that in mind when you're thinking about buying this shoe the cushioning in the shoe is eve ea and i have no real complaints here i feel like it is the most cushioned Adidas shoe that I've run in that uses eve ea for its cushioning the eve ea seems to be quite a bit lighter than the boost material so that makes the shoe a lightweight less clunky running shoe but. It still has a lot of cushions the traction on the shoe is made with the usual continental rubber that Adidas uses I've always found it to be durable and long-lasting and I've found no difference in this shoe i do wish the lugs were a little bit longer on this shoe they're not as aggressive as i like the lugs to be on my running shoes but that probably won't bother most people. Some trails i run have rock slides you have to cross, and they have jagged rocks and on those sections i found. Myself wanting a bit more protection on the forefoot but besides that on any normal section 90 percent of the time i have liked the protection and the cushion that these shoes provide coming in at 11 and a half. Ounces for a size 9 the shoe is mid. Weight leaning to the heavy side and the heel to toe drop comes in at 6 millimeters which is also pretty average in terms of looks i think I'm somewhat biased here because i like anything that looks different and these shoes are no exception i was lucky enough to get a limited edition no dye all white version and you don't see all. White trail shoes very often together with the lacing system i get quite a few people staring at my shoes on the trail i have heard some people complain online. Some burly mountain bike tires brought out by continental these three and a half millimeter lugs give you multi-directional traction and really great grip they'll dig in when you need to accelerate and help slow down when. You're braking the continental blend performs well across the board in wet or dry conditions you also get a pretty. Those rocks and roots on the trail the thing i like most about these shoes is that they don't have a tongue they don't. Really have any padding on the upper it's essentially a fully perforated evie a sleeve that you slide your foot into this gives you that sock like feel it's. Gonna fit snug while adapting to your foots movement and structure the upper. Is all mesh which covers that perforated. Eba and there are synthetic overlay portions which give the shoe some extra. Durability those overlays are welded which saves weight, so they won't slow. You down the mid sole is fairly simple one. The shoe in order to cut weight it's a. Tarek's a graphics the men's Adidas. Terr ex a graphic we're going to go over. A list of pros and cons things that I'd like things that i don't like about the shoe and hopefully it will give you an idea of whether you should buy it. So first off we're going to start with the drop i like a low drop shoe I've. Been running it ultras all of my road. Shoes have been low drop the highest. I'll go is six or seven and this is pushing at it's at six millimeters but i. Consider that fine especially since that is the lowest drop that Adidas offers at this point i believe the tread on the shoe you can see right here it's its. Pretty beefy and that's something that i. Really like in a trail shoe you want something that's going to grip and this does a really good job this is continental bike tire rubber I'm not. Really sure what it is but it does a. Good job all around like the i really. Like this oldest shoe it's good it's been grippy on wet surfaces on wet rocks it does well where it's super dusty and. A lot of loose dirt a lot of loose. Gravel it really grips all that with. Other brands of shoes I've had these lugs break off and i have yet to even see anything like that with this they. Have worn down a little bit but i have been running a little bit on the road with the wear and tear brings me to quality and i want to shoot this gonna last running shoes can be quite pricey. Which i will get into this shoes price. In a little bit i think this is a pretty high quality shoe I've probably put 200. Miles on these shoes and i have seen very little wear and tear so wait it's. Kind of inner battle whether to put it as a pro or a con it comes in at 11. Ounces which is slightly heavier than the ultras i was running in but that's probably because of this heavy-duty. Rubber that they have on the bottoms the cons with this thick rubber sole is the. Weight the pros with it is you're going. To get more protection this doesn't have a rock plate on it which leaves it very flexible and that's something that i really like in a shoe but without a rock plate you need protection and that's i think why they put such a thick rubber sole on it so you get protection and honestly it has great protection i run. Our very rocky trails up here in northern utah and i in previous years. I've really felt sharp rocks coming through and hurting the ball of my foot when I'm running and i haven't had any problems with this shoe even with the. Weight they still feel pretty fast and i think that's partly because of this boost material which brings me to the. Cushioning it's about a mid-range cushion it's not a minimalist i would. Say it leans on the more minimalist side but it's definitely in the mid range for cushion with this boost material i have run in Adidas boosts i ran the boston. Marathon and Adidas boost i can't remember which version it was but i. Could tell on those road shoes the boost. Material did have a lot of energy returned i don't feel it as much on this. I'm ok with that because the boost material seemed to be less stable and with this shoe they've put in this. Rubber around right here they've really. Done a good job of utilizing the boost material while at the same time giving you the stability that you need on the trail now we're going to move on to the upper you get quite a bit of protection there's a quite a bit of toe protection here this mess right here offers. Plenty of airflow i have I've had shoes in the past where. I didn't like them because my feet got super hot this shoe does not have that problem and that's awesome Adidas has made a tongue out of eba material it's not that usual cloth and. At first when i saw it i was a little worried i didn't think I'd like it but it does offer enough padding between. Your foot and the laces my two biggest complaints with this shoe are. Number one the lacing system and number. Two the fit and to show you here the. Lacing system is pretty they have the. Right idea it's just they need to change. Just a little bit so down here you can. See how the lacing system goes wide to kind of bring in that toe box i don't. Think you need that because of the fit is skinny i have an average. Width foot and it just feels tight the. The Biggest part of the lady lacing system that i thought was going to be a deal-breaker was right here on this shoe. Right here underneath and my foot is in the shoe on my outside two toes i get. Some rub in it i thought when i put this shoe on and i was walking around at the beginning i thought it was going to be a deal-breaker and i was going to hate this shoe but for some reason when i. Start running it's gone i don't i don't. Feel it doesn't bother me i don't understand why but as much as i thought. It was going to be a big deal it hasn't been another con and i told you to get. Into this is the price of this shoe is 135 dollars but you can't find. It cheaper camp saver comm has them for. 107 or something like that all in all. This shoe i think is a great trail shoe. A great option hopefully in the future versions of the shoe they will be. Able to fix the problems that it has, and they will have a better shoe i do not think that you will be disappointed in the shoe as long as you do not have an overly wide foot i already see the shoe because i am an Adidas outdoor ambassador i have not been paid to say. The outsole keep you connected to the trail the boost foam in the mid sole. Offers a lot of protection, and they blend a lot of different materials on. The upper to be very durable but as well. Offer breath ability let's take a closer. Look I'm going to start with a part of the shoe that comes into contact with the ground you've got continental rubbers here and. They have multi directional lugs the. Lugs are pretty deep as well so if you're in muddy areas if you're running. Over wet surfaces it doesn't matter what. The terrain is like these are going to be really sticky, and they're going to really stick to the trail to give you a lots of traction moving up into the. Midsole you have a couple of different materials here the standout feature is really the Adidas boost fun this boost. Foam gives you great energy return so the more you put into it the more it's going to bounce back it really reduces fatigue as you're running so this boost. Foam is meant to keep your legs fresher longer you're on the trail all day long. Giving you that great energy return so. That you can run that whole time so it's. That white part all through that mid sole. The platform here is a six millimeter. Drop so you have twenty-three and a half millimeters seventeen and a half millimeters from the heel to the forefoot so it's a pretty flat shoe they. Give you a natural foot strike while giving you just a little bit of drop there i really like the combination of. Materials in the upper part of the shoe they give a lot of durability so for. That runner who wants a shoe it's going to last a long time the runner who's not. Looking for an ultra lightweight trail running shoe but once something that's going to be durable this is going to hold up to a lot of use and abuse you've got overlays here at the welded. Construction so you can see this nice. Toe cap right here in the front gives you plenty of protection from rocks they have overlays that kind of go. Through the rest of the shoe and then. Back here in the heel area when you snug these shoes down it really snugs your heel into the back this tends to be an. Area of the shoe right here in the front and here on the back, and they feel that wears out quickly especially on my running shoes and so that's something i look for is a lot of durability in those key areas where you don't need as much. Durability they have lots of meshes so. Your foot is going to breathe something i really noticed about the tongue of these shoes you do have an e v a foam. Tongue so that really adapts to your foot and it is well padded but it's nice. And lightweight and have all kinds of breath ability there on that tongue when. You cinch down the laces the eyelets here kind of line up with a little bit. Of overlays there so it really cradles your foot it's a little bit of a stretchy material so it definitely cradles your foot to give a really nice and snug fit now you do have a sock. Liner in here that's removable it's. Really lightweight so if you want to remove it and use your own insole you can certainly do that but this will go a.
