This is politic alpha direct this is. What's lining this jacket really fleecy. Warm but synthetic fibers that loft up like a normal piece of installation the. Reason this is so good it's really tough and really doesn't do't move at all. So it can stay direct against the skin and it doesn't need another liner underneath what i mean by that is most. Synthetic insulation needs to have like. A prima loft like this you have a tough critic sauter and something on the inner as well so that it doesn't migrate pretty much really warm for its weight and really light and it's still a really good piece of equipment I'm not saying one's better than the other but if you see you can pull apart quite easily so that's why it needs to be. Trapped inside these two layers and now. These two layers can't breathe as well when there's just one that's why this is. But being acted I'm coming off as for when you stop this. Is built to be a really movement piece. So when you're climbing or even walking you could even do on a really cold a person running so as you can see it's really neat it's trim doesn't feel like a big warm jacket you should be sticking on over everything when you stop which. Slimmer arms it's really good for climbing if it's really neat it's for harness so when I'm climbing i can still get my arms really easily up high like that I've got hand warmer pockets, but they're so slim i don't even notice them with the harness in the way i still pocket here as well for putting your phone or whatever your camera or something you need in their favorites. These days two thumb loops i really like those especially to get under your gloves in winter climbing get. No coal bits underneath there, and they've done something really clever with the hook i don't quite know how this works but somehow it fits underneath the helmet really neatly fits. Really nicely like so but also if you. Want to wear it on top of your helmet. Again this is not stretchy in there you. Nice and warm and cozy and your vision is brilliant, so they offer direct i think can be really useful for many people if you just walk in climbing on a cold day but like rock climbing maybe a bit drier than this the main reason i really like it is i use it as a mid layer in winter and you probably found when you're walking in if you try and wear a premium off jacket that's built has been stationary you'll overheat but if you take it off you're too cold so something like this is brilliant because it's wind proof is water-resistant so if it's a grim day walking in that's fine but because it breathes so well you're really comfortable in it and when you get to the base of your route you rack up you put your waterproof over the. Top it takes away neatly underneath there i feel ready to go also the hood rolls. Away if you don't like having multiple hoods some people as a real book bear when you use the outer hood roll it away you don't even know

And you've got elastic bands around the armholes here so the warmth that you do generate does get trapped inside enough to keep you warmer on those cooler days of running hiking biking what-have-you. You another gear review here today i want to talk about in fact the very jacket that I'm wearing right now the patagonia nano air light hybrid. Insulated jacket i know it's a mouthful. But let's go ahead and get on into it. So okay guys this is again the patagonia. Nano air light hybrid insulated jacket. Like i said i know it's a mouthful but I'm gonna go ahead and talk about everything why i love it and give you guys the full details really why i chose this item and my. Experiences with it thus far so big reason why i got this i was looking for a new mid weight layer my north face. Thermoball has done a great job for me thus far but i needed something that was. A little bit lighter weight and also something maybe a little bit more versatile not completely insulated all. The way around so i do plan on adding. This to my through hiking gear for. Hiking the appalachian trail 2018 really. Looking forward to it and thus far on my one trip over thanksgiving it performed be ea. Beautifully so a couple quick things. It is a rip stop nylon it is a dwr. Coated rip stop so it does help with some of the water repellency it is not a waterproof jacket however it is a. Moisture wicking very breathable jacket so it will dry very quickly it is a. Synthetic insulation as well so even if. It does get a little bit damp a little bit wet at least i know it's going to keep me dry regardless and as well i can. Just hang it up and air dry it out and it'll be completely unaffected so a couple quick things that i really. Like about it number one full-length zipper goes all the way up to give you a. Nice little neck gaiter it is the hood less version i did that specifically because my down hoody is hood less already as well as one of my base layer. Shirts by odlo is also hooded with a. Balaclava type hood so i wanted something that was hood less so that so. That if i was wearing this during the day on a chilly day you know i could. Just do you know the ball and you know i could do my buff over the top or just a little beanie over top and at least allow for you know somebody heat to be released and control things a little bit more another thing that i really love about it is it's specifically designed with the pockets a little bit taller up so as you can see i do have. Space down below we're at the bottom of the pocket is they did that specifically. So for backpackers when you have your belt on your pockets are still. Accessible really good part on patagonia. Good looks on good-looking out on their part that's always those subtle little things that really make the difference really good really key on their. Part it does of course have the thumb holes i really like that part so especially while hiking holding onto my. Trekking poles my sleeves are always gonna be extended it covers the back of. My hand just a little bit keeping them a little bit warmer or having my trekking poles as well I'm so really good. On their part another big reason why i purchased this product so okay as i said. This is the patagonian nano-air light hybrid they have a patagonia nano-air. Light already which is fully insulated. But this is the hybrid model and i want to show you guys why so first and foremost like i said it is a synthetic insulated jacket but it's only. Insulators in key areas so your main. Torso area over the top and the back of. The shoulders and then over the top of your arms is going to be all that synthetic insulation really keeping your. Core warm the top of your extremities and the more exposed part of your extremities as well where your heat is typically released really nice however. In the parts where you typically perspire and for a way to really control. Your body temperature and to get more versatility out of the jacket they do give you a more ventilated fabric underneath your arms down your sides and. It stretches all the way around the back. So i really like that part number one of. Course like i said I'll be putting this underneath my down jacket help me keep. Me nice and toasty warm but at least my back wall you know release some of my body heat and control my body temperature but the most important thing. I wanted this for was so for those chilly mornings those chilly days when. I have to hike a little bit with a jacket just to get my body temperature up enough to where i can disrobe a little bit this is something to wear it's constantly going to keep my core. Warm and I'm moving forward so this is where I'm taking all the winds however. It'll be releasing my body heat out the. Back a great way for me to you know help. Me control my body temperature a little bit so i don't sweat in the cold temperatures but i still stay warm enough so this is the medium model it. Comes in at 10.65 ounces i weighed that. Hi everyone today I'm taking a look at. The battle equipment eclipse hooded zip-t so lightweight fleece mid layer. Stroke base layer i tend to use it as a. Lightweight mid layer rather a base layer basically because the fit isn't really skin tight so i can fit a. Close-fitting base layer underneath and use this as a lighter weight mid layer. Maybe underneath a thicker mid layer or. If it's not that could then just as a. Standalone mid layer it's made from. Ponte auto tech no stretch fleece which is a lightweight gridded fleece material. So on the inside the fleecy sections are. Cut into a grid pattern i really like. Gridded pieces the increased surface. Area of the grid helps trap more heat so. You get a better warmth to weight ratio before the fleece also helps with. Readability against surface area it's. More surface area to transport the moisture away from you away from your body and wicks well it is not wind. Resistant at all is there's a one downside compared to maybe a traditional fleece or a slightly hard face to face. The grids obviously leave big gaps. Which the wind just comes right through so bad to use underneath something if. It's windy there are two weights of fleece used in this top the gray. Sections under the arms down the sides. Around the bottom hem all the way around. And the back of the neck. And around the mouth piece are all a. Lighter weight than the red sections which is everywhere else so you've got a zoned sort of climate control where you. Really do expect to be a bit more sweaty and the arms fall where you want slightly lower profile around the lower hem or around the wrists you've got a. Thinner lighter fleece the sleeves on. This is long very long as you can see i. Have really long arms i normally find. Sleeves too short these are really nice and long the integrated thumb loops work. Well they're really comfortable there's plenty of length that you're not putting. On any part of the sleeve to put them on. But if you don't want to use them then it sits very nicely and you can move really easily very stretchy material as. Well you have one zipped chest pocket. Quite small enough space for a mobile phone a couple of snack bars or something and a deep zip past it. Preventing and just make it be easier to. Get on and off the real masterpiece of. This top is the hood which is pretty. Unique in that it's a really close-fitting hood so will fit really nicely. Under a helmet or under a hat or anything give some light warmth as well. And you also have a balaclava style. Front piece which is you zip the main. Zip all the way up you'll see it tapers off to an angle so that it's not in line. With your mouth it's out of the way and if you get that all the way up to the. Top you can get a balaclava complete bal. Collar style like that and you can if. You tuck the sides of the hood in it gives a really close fit so that it's barely any of your face showing well you. Can drop it down and really easy to move. Due to the way it's constructed the. Mouthpiece is stitched slightly back. From the end of the hood so it's almost hinged by there so if it was connected. To the front of the hood you wouldn't be able to do this you'd have to unzip it, so they've done been really clever and how they've designed that so that really. Easy to use and you can also drop the. Hood back easily without unzipping it. Have the mouth up hood down really no. Problems using that really easy to use innovative i really like it you have a. Small beard guard or chin guard at the top of the zip as well obviously for more comfort the material on the. Balaclava part is really easy to speak. Through and breathe through because it is the thinner gray material although. It's not not really wind resistant at. All like i said before so you know. They'll give you some warmth and maybe.
