Reviewing the misty mountain turbo harness this was sent to me my misti a couple months ago and I've been enjoying it a lot for the past month got to tell. You guys I'm really psyched about this harness not only is misty a great company they're based out of western north carolina all their stuff is hand-stitched right here in the usa but it's a great harness as well it's not just the fact that they're a great company make great products so this is. The turbo harness when i think of misty. I think of three words really stick out in my head they're comfortable they're. Over built and they're safe misty is. Known to have one of the most comfortable harness lines on the market there Cadillac harness is probably most. Popular most people you see out the crag who have a misty harness on probably i. Mean in my experience I'd say eight times out of ten they're going to have a Cadillac on, so they're very Cadillac are very popular that's their big thick trad harness it has six gear loops it's. Just a big monster multi-pitch harness. But i see it here at the new I'm here at the new river gorge at the junkyard crag and i see them you know people using them for cracking all the time so that doesn't mean that you can't use the Cadillac for fragment but this might be a better option for you if you mostly do single pitch cracking and then sometimes do multi pitch this i think would be a great option and I'm really excited about again this is the turbo harness so I'm going to go through all the features of this harness but first. The so this has fixed leg loops this is. The turbo and the one with the adjustable leg loops is the sonic and. The female version of the sonic is the. Silhouette so the silhouette is female with adjustable leg loops misty doesn't currently have a name for the female version of the turbo but just ask for it. Ask them for a female version of turbo, and they change some of the specs they change the dimensions of the waist belt and the rise to fit females better. So just ask them misty's a great company they also do split sizing where they can. Do different size like this is i believe. A large you check yes this is a large. Size so if you needed like a large waist. Belt and a medium leg loop they can mix. And match sizes for you of waist and leg. Loops so just so you know so don't think. When you go on their website oh you know. This leg size doesn't fit my legs but this waist size fit they do what's called split sizing, and they can mix and match those sizes because these are handmade one at a time so let's go. Through the major points of this harness this has a quick adjust waist belt so. You don't need to double this one back so you just pull it and it stays secure. It's very safe like i said safe and durable and over built and what. I like you know no detail is overlooked. With this misty harness and I'm sure the same goes for all their harnesses I'm sure the line is all the same so you'll notice the end of this waste this. Waist belt is stitched into a point and you know little details like that i really enjoy because that makes it. Easier to thread through these sleeves to keep the waist belt back so there's a sleeve right on the side right next to. The buckle when you tighten it in so. You can slide that through there easily and then the misty patch also doubles as. Another large sleeve to keep it even further out of the way so you just slide that in there. It's out of the way. What else so all the time points are. Heavily reinforced you can see lots of. Bar tack and stitching here but what also is nice about the time points is they cover it in a slippery material. It's kind of it's a nylon that is different from the rest of the nylon. It's very slippery, so they'll add durability because the reduce friction of the rope running through so your tie. In points won't get blown out as easily the belay loop they're known to have one of the largest belay loops in the business this thing is no exception the turbo harness this is a 6,000 pound belay loop so super beefy and durable. And over built very safe so that's you. Know your belay loop in the front turning towards the sides there's four. Gear loops to an aside but again being. Misty who they are if you want to add tool carriers like if you're an ice climber if you want to add tool holsters. Or extra I'm sure maybe not gear luke. But it was a belay loop we doing extra belay loop things like that they can work with you so call them up great company anyway moving to the side for. Big gear loops these things i have a couple other harnesses just I've gone through over the years and these things are large let me tell you no problem putting a ton of cams and nuts and quick draws and slings and things for trad climbing so these are very large on the back what you'll find is. Somewhat rare but is very nice to have. Is a full strength haul loop on a. Cracking harness so this is a very lightweight it definitely competes with all the lightweight all day multi-purpose harnesses out there and not on have full strength haul loop so that's a very nice feature also on. The back is the rise they have a feature called detachable rise this is pretty common so you know nature calls and you. Don't want to take the harness off if you're in a multi pitch situation they have the detachable rise there with the buckle. The inside of the waist belt and the leg. Loops it's like this soft black neoprene. Material but it's very breathable so neoprene isn't breathable so but it. Feels like me brain has like kind of soft spongy feel but it's very. Breathable i mean its kind of warm out today is low 80s high 70s and i don't i. Don't feel hindered or sweaty or you know wet with this harness at all it definitely breezes for you know an all-day harness it's you know it's not like a mesh style harness you know you. Can't see through it so it definitely has a little bit of thickness but that makes it extra comfortable at the same time it breathes. Like i said it has fixed leg loops. Again reinforced high end point extra. Stitching to make it all very durable leg loops are very comfortable I've been. Very impressed a lot of times leg loops there they it kind of seems like. Companies they just don't do research, or they don't test it or something but these leg loops have been surprised it really comfortable so I've just been. Overall really happy with the turbo. Harness again give misty a call if. You're looking for new harness they can work with you on sizing they can work with you on options this one comes in. Welcome back to maaske back outdoor. Adventures today I'm up here in southern appalachian outdoors and picking south carolina guess the marty fields owner of. The shop and a good friend of mine so today we're going to be finishing up our review on the Gregory salad 24-day packs. And what we're going to do is go through some of the pros and cons of this pack I'll tell you right up front I'm very few very little wrong with this pack i really liked it well, and we'll start out. By going through what i carry and why and get this done trumped any minute all. Right welcome back guys. Let's talk about what i liked about this pack have you several tax with. The Gregory for a day pack. I found that i can carry anything over. And above what i normally carry which is in excess and so in some people's mind. When it comes with date hiking will. Start by showing you what i carry this. Pack is ready to measure for 24 liters. Which i found to be pretty accurate the. 24 liters is way bigger than you. Really need to day hike but it really allowed me to carry the essentials and what i mean by that is I'm kind of like. Self-preservation if i get out we get out in the back country i like to have things and be prepared for pretty much anything if i get stuck there i want to know that i can survive no matter what. Kind of conditions are there are so hey we'll start by showing you this i carry my fire kit everywhere every time i go. On they would consist with some fire-making materials here i carry a pin or any logbooks i might. Run across on the trail they're lighter that's actually a butane powered jet. Lighter very reliable. And might go to item ferrocerium rod. Found very few situations that i cannot. Start a fire with a ferrocerium run they're very effective chuckle. Atwood if you're familiar with bush crafting type skills this is excellent fire starting material it's a just resin impregnated pine and what. That one is and of course another blade i carry. Believe you don't have a knife here you do at home so anyway that pretty much. Covers my fire starting kit and that's. In the center all right next item I've. Got here very accessible some d all. Right here protein this is nothing more than some turkey jerky great source of. Protein and energy out there on the front of course the amount of food you. Carry is going to be dictated obviously by how far and how long you're going to be gone water filter and bag i use a. 64-ounce sawyer bag with my little mini filter excellent piece of equipment and. Stand by got to have a knife gotta have a good blade in the woods in my opinion. And i never go now that this is a more companion robust made out of 1095. Carbon steel one of the essentials these. Knives are great they're very inexpensive one of my favorites actually. And you guys know I'm talking about here. Gotta have toilet paper well as my cook. Pot this one happens to be a little stanley this one actually came from. Walmart comes on very good piece of. Equipment $14 and my little go-the stove. And watch a review on that stove on a youtube channel as well this has two. Nesting cups which are very thick hard plastic which are lightweight but. Virtually indestructible, so we really like these you can cook in this we make. Hot tea coffee you name it can be dusted and next. First aid kit this one happens to be. Military in nature i have pretty much. Anything in here that short of a combat. Lifesaver yet you know we can treat any basically and kind of cut up into stitches i can't do stitches but any. Minor injuries we can pretty much cover with that's a whole nother review in its own, so we will get into that to be also state i can always carry my you. Know lovino hammock i can't say that our. Camping that but i do have it just in. Case i find a little too big for the. Email to be staying multiple days on the. Trail of course my atlas straps for you know cordage always carry good cordage. With me and that's for sure. Never know when you might need an extra. Flow in case it rains or whatnot and. Along with that express ox i like to. Carry my little small nikon binoculars with me i just like watching wildlife and of course you never know when you might need to see something far away so these are great these are little ten power great for the trail and of course. Flashlights got them a little tack light here I'm. Not really sure what brandi just says j5 tactical light i think i bought it online and one of the essentials to me. And score is having a bush craft type mindset i have my little grants poor's. Brooks mini hatchet it's absolutely one. Of my favorite tools i can pretty much do anything that i think i could do. With a knife with this tool for a. Hatchet this is razor sharp literally will shave you clean which is with a nice tool to be fine carving with it and. Split firewood with it just almost a. Necessity to me and of course i always. Carry a thousand milliliter water bottle at minimal this is the nalgene brand and. I could look at that's it and you can. See on the bottom of the pack this pack has lasting points on the bottom for anything you might need and i just happen to carry by a little flex like a. Chair i need a place to fit anyway. Talking about the pack itself this seems. Excessive i know to most people as far as day hiking but it is my mom said that. With this equipment i can pretty much encounter anything i have the tools i need to build a shelter if i want you i have enough food i have fire making material i have a place to sleep in the hammock if i need to so i go prepare. Water filter you know this is. How i do it this is no right or wrong way to hike it's just my way of doing it. One thing i like about this pack is this. Gregory sack is very lightweight I'm not. Sure what the spec says or we should. Look at but the pack itself is very lightweight it's very well-made you know 24 litres. Is big enough to carry all of this stuff. And if you're not a inclusive type day. Hiker like i am then you could fit. Clothing you can put anything you want to and this is how i do this offer he. Comes with a mesh suspension system that. They call their free span it was very. Nice i found that on the trail it kept. My back nice and cool even when you know. Going up strenuous steep sections of the trail i found it very nice the pack was. Very comfortable it fit well oh I'm 511. I weigh about 220 I'm kind of short. Waisted myself so this particular pack. Fit me very well i believe this one here. This is the men's. Okay i believe it's just a one-size-fits-all in the day pack but i believe that this pack would fit the majority of you know your average guy say which that's kind of what i am. So very nice bit i like how they have on. The waistband they have nice pockets here you can put a phone there if you. Choose anything small knife and on both. Sides which is nice also i like the top pack that pouch. Up there you know i put some of the essentials in it a lot of times i like to carry stuff that i want to get to you really quickly like my knife you know fair socks you know toilet paper is just. A small essential up there and of course. The main pack has had tons of room in. It how obvious if you can expand that you know it works very well it also is. Equipped with a hydro bladder you can. Fit a pretty significant water bladder. In here if you desire which is nice i. Particularly don't carry them a lot of people do guys another thing i want to. Show you is here southern a select amount ors, or he carries a variety of. These packs this is another Gregory also this is a sailboat as well this one's an. A team leader it's a little smaller in volume same features it doesn't have the. Expanded waist belt just because it's. Not as you're not going to carry in here as much weight on this type. This one is world. This is also a solo 24 men's packed. Different color schemes the only difference about that's actually pretty cool anyway either I'd have to say that i. Would give that Gregory packing nine out of ten and i think yes grid dating for. The money i think retail here at the store this is a 115 so good value if you. Look at other different brands you'll find that's very comfortable and actually maybe a little bit less expensive than some of the other brands as well same feature packed item nothing. I want to mention too is versus some of. The other packs that I've used as well this one has the five pouches that are. Actually big enough to fairly easily put. A thousand milliliter water ball in each side without compromising your internal. Space so i found that to be very nice as well yeah anyway this has been andy with. Before and our stealth overnight adventure wear is a winter storm coming. In we were just going through the woods like crazy this pack is tough as nails. It's awesome go ahead get comfortable let's take a look at it now so here you. Go guys here is the Nabisco pack this is. The 55 liter version now this is the older version of this pack from what i. Understand the 55 liter male version has. Been discontinued it's no longer available I'm sure you could find it used on ebay and so on but there's a 65. Litre version and now the 55 liter. Version is for women so if you go out. You're looking for one of these packs you come across one right here on the. Back you should be able to see that it says Nabisco 55 right next to it will. Either be an m or a w and that will signify it if it's for the male or for. The woman so with that being said if you get the 55 litre version or the 60 liter either way you're getting an awesome pack we'll go ahead and start by taking a look at it right here at the very top you have a drag handle right below that you have a zippered pocket which gives you access to the lid very good quality zippers these are ykk zippers good quality pull. On them too good action you have some. Bungee cord right here on top so you could put i don't know your sweater whatever you want to your brain jacket out here maybe let something dry you have a draw cord with that so you can cinch it down real tight of course. There's the fox leather very good. Quality the lid is hunkered down to the pack thanks to these two straps. On the inside of the lid you have this large zippered mesh pocket which. Includes the rain cover included it even. Has the fox on it you have this buckle right here with plenty of strap it's so you can cinch down your load or expand it you have a. Drawstring pull right here at the middle. And then this does extend up with another drawstring pool so you can expand your load to fit your gear to fit. Your needs going down in the center you. Do have a pocket very good amount of space you can fill up this entire section right through here flipping the. Pack over to the side compression straps. With strap keepers very nice quality you. Do have water bottle pockets down here at the bottom which are stretchy too so. You can fit anything that you need to in there you have the same features on the other side of the pack so as you can see. Here the pack is now laying completely flat because this is a cool feature on each side you have a zipper and another. Zipper check this out you can zip all. The way down zip all the way down on this side and peel this open and that. Grants you access to all the contents of your bag i love this feature on backpacks fjällräven got it right i.
