Hey it's brad from back country skiing canada calm and today we're going to talk about the last sport team of specter 2.0 alpine touring boot this. Replaces the original spectrum boot which we reviewed a few years back that can be found over here this is still the. Lightest 4 buckle boots on the market it weighs in at 1400 45 grams or about. Three pounds three ounces that's four half pair size 27 and a half sizing. Comes in from 25 all the way to 35 sorry 31.5 in half sizes the boot is a little. But stiffer this year it's got a 115 flex rating which is about five percent stiffer than previous version the shell. Is made of grille made and the cuff is p back so that's what makes this boot so light again it's four buckles so it's a pretty light boot considering it's a four buckle boot it's also now compatible with alpine bindings tech. Bindings and tr2 bindings so that's a new feature as well what is the same on. This boot is the low profile Pegasus. Buckles really simple easy cam device to use they don't pop out when you're using the boot takes a little bit of getting used to using them because they are so innovative but once you get used to using them they're pretty easy to use. On a day-to-day basis thermo moldable. Easy liner is the same as well and also the 60-degree cuff rotation so a really huge range of motion in walk mode and. What i love about the less marked eva's in the original version in this version is you don't have to unbuckle the boot to get that range of motion i keep the boot totally buckled up i might open this one up just to get the blood flow again but in fully buckled mode you can. Get that sixty degrees which is pretty incredible the sole on the 2.0 is a. Vibrant sole it's got the harder the. Harder sole in the yellow locations and the softer soul in the black location so that you can grip on a rock better and not wear down the tip and toe what is. New is well in the 2.0 version is a roomier toe box the last sport team has always had a really roomy toe box this time it's even roomier I've had to put an insert in to take up some of that room because it was just so much room for me but nice feature because you can. Wheel the toes keep them warm the pivot point as well it used to be removable with an allen key now it's built-in it's fixed which is great because i did lose the pivot point once at a lodge which was not the most opportune time so now that's a solid feature which is great color scheme is. New as well I'm digging it i think it's. A great color scheme for the boot nice and vibrant and lots of fun to wear it's also 5% stiffer as i said before. And you can definitely feel that when. Bigger earlier cousins of the regular. Mr. ali and jia they are stiffer 20. About 20 percent stiffer and their flex. Is going to be a more progressive flex, and they're also going to be a little bit lighter so if you're looking for. Sort of the lightest the highest performing boots on the market from scarpa this is gonna be where you want to go scarpa has a great system here it's called the exclusive excuse me the axial. Alpine technology it allows the boot to. Fully open up and what it also does is. Creates great power transfer when you're in ski mode of the boots and when you really when you're really forcing or. When you really are leaning forward and putting some pressure on your skis what this is doing is its transmitting power all the way through the bottom of the boot in a much consistent manner as you. Can see it opens up fully so you can get in and out with ease but having the buckle system all integrated is really. Going to keep it within a great power. Transmission zone a couple of other things to point out and I'll use the women's version on this one is this over. The cuff buckle right here this is going. To be great to keep your heel in place better than a lot of the boots are it's lowering that buckle so traditionally you'll see a lot of boot buckles up here. To have a little bit of a shorter calf area, and so they're not going to be pinched by a higher liner and then both of these boots also come with intuitions pro liner this is an amazing liner. Got one buckle as you can see and the boa system down on the forefront it weighs in at twelve hundred and thirty grams or two pounds 11 ounces and that's for half pair size 27 this is a 27 and a. Half boot here the reason it's so light is it uses a plenum id shell and cuff. With a carbon core technology and this carbon core provides the torsional rigidity you need in a boot that's this light so as i mentioned before there is. Only one top buckle here so this is a velcro buckle you do that up nice and. Tight and then you've got the buckle on the side to fasten things and cinch things down and then on the forefoot you. Have the alien inspired boa system and. This encloses the whole forefoot of the shell and gives you a nice secure fit in this area and then up top we've got a power strap as well one more accessible power strap at the top so the f1 has a. 95 flex so it's not the stiffest boot on the market it's a pretty soft boot but that's okay cuz it's a dedicated touring boot it's not really meant to ski the resort with but you can do it in a pinch it's built on 102 millimeters last and it's got a 20 and 22 degree forward lean. It's also got 62 degrees range of motion. So that's a really good range of motion forward and back most touring boots just have most of the range of motion to the back of the boot this has an equal forward and back i can't show it to you here because it's not mounted on a ski but it's got an incredibly good range of. Bring it nice and tight which makes it easier for walking obviously the. Attachment for the helmet can go on here as well there's also a strap here for ice axes, and they've also included both. A diagonal and a vertical and ski strap. Holders so depending on whether you. Prefer to have them diagonal not complete personal preference but you're not limited to one way with this backpack comes in at just. 850 grams so it's on its own with plenty of space it still. Shouldn't be too heavy by the time you filled it's a very comfortable backpack thanks to the padding that you. Can see on the back and on the side straps and on the shoulder straps so if. You are going quite far away it's going to be a really comfortable backpack it's available from many retailers including. The first is with these brittle plastic. Clips on each corner of the net that. Used to go into the upper and lower. Loops with the snowboard in place these loops sits inset beneath the snowboard. So these clips have to stretch around. And attach into those loops which puts a. Lot of pressure on this inferior plastic. And then the second problem is with the. Lower loop material themselves they. Don't seem to have taken into account that snowboards have edges sharp edges at that and already after only a few. Hours hiking this material has already started to fray and will eventually fail. I imagine on the second day of my hike i. Was about thirty minutes from the peak. Suddenly i hear my snowboard helmet falling down into a bowl beneath me. Because one of these clips broke i then. Had to get on my snowboard to take a line i didn't particularly want to take to retrieve the helmet which was. Something i would consider unsafe the. Third problem was with the stitching. Already on day to the left the right. Hand strap lower strap used to secure. The snowboard the stitching has already. Started to come away it hasn't happened on the opposite side yet but I'm sure it's just a matter of time other than that the navigate compartment is nice and roomy roomier than other packs I've. Reviewed the spine protector. Although adequate could really be extended beneath and above to it to. Protect other parts of the spine the. Waist chest and arm straps are all very. Good but i wouldn't really recommend buying this pack as it just doesn't seem to have been field-tested or despite the. High price bracket and the various. Endorsements and reviews thanks.

This is a collaboration between eric horror fasten or ho g which is a lot easier se and low tech binding inventor fritz barth oh this project was four years in the making and the result is. The ho g pro tour boot it started out as a Frankenstein of the Vulcan boot that. Hold you worked on for a bunch of years and the main feature of this boot is the. Ho g lock system so this one lever on the back here this releases when i pull it up push into walk mode but it also releases the top buckle and the ultra. Lock strap so a really innovative design and the cuff here it's a sliding tongue and groove spine this really supports the shell directly makes it super stiff 120 flex rating and still gives it a nice progressive flex so starts out. Smooth and you don't hit that wall at the end of the flex it's a nice smooth start and smooth finish to the flex which is ideal other innovation which is. Not unique to this boot but the speed knows it's a minimal toe so there is no toe log its saves on weight and it as well. Sets the pivot point back on the boot so. When you're walking and it's a much more fluid stride and it also makes stepping into tech bindings a lot easier so this. Is a three buckle boot through buckles on the front and then you've also got the ultra lock power strap as well which is all controlled the top two buckles controlled with this hora lock system, so they undo when i go into walk mode, and they tighten back up with these cables here when i go back in a ski mode the. Boot weighs 2,900 grams are 6.4 pounds and it also comes in a pbx version so. This is the gorilla mode version shall cuff and spoiler the pbx version is a little bit heavier but also not as expensive the flex rating is 120 and I'd. Say this is a true 120 flex rating really happy with how stiff this boot is considering that we've got this versatility with the whole g lock system so 120 flex rating I'd ski this thing on. The hill it's difficult for that for me cuff rotation of 55 degrees front and back equally split really nice to have.
