Osprey Packs Kresta 30L Backpack - Women's
As most women know, backpacks are often the unfortunate victim of the pink-and-shrink laser beam. However, designers over at Osprey heard the call for a functional, women-specific touring backpack, and answered with the Kresta 30 Backpack. And in typical Osprey fashion, the Kresta has just the right amount of features necessary for a day of touring in the alpine without skimping on the overall fit or functionality.
More specifically, this pack is fashioned with a women-specific Light Wire suspension system that when combined with the padded help belt and stabilization straps, provide a comfortable and pressure-free haul. The thermoformed, contoured back panel sheds snow easily, and ultimately reduces the build-up of frozen precipitation on your backside. Not to mention, a deployable helmet net makes carrying your helmet a breeze, and the tuck-away ice tool loop ensures you're able to haul technical tools without worrying about losing them en route.
In keeping with its versatile construction, the Kresta boasts a horizontal snowboarding carrying feature, or if you're of the dual-planked nature, it also touts an A-frame or diagonal ski carrying design. Though, perhaps most importantly, the Kresta has a J-shaped avalanche gear compartment, complete with dry pocket, so you're not only able to access your safety gear in a flash, but you're also able to separate your sensitive avy gear from wet skins or damp clothing. A back panel entry system enables you quick access to snacks or extra layers, and all of the Kresta's zipper pulls, as well as buckles, are glove and mitten friendly.
Mammut Nirvana Ride S 20L Backpack - Women's
Take the panic out of waking up before the crack of dawn by packing the Mammut Women's Nirvana Ride S Backpack the night before you go skiing. This backcountry-specific pack carries skis or a snowboard, and it hauls a helmet, goggles, hydration reservoir, and your essential avalanche safety gear. The Nirvana carries skis diagonally or at an A-frame, snowboards vertically or horizontally, and the helmet carry stows away during the descent. For support, Mammut equipped the Nirvana Ride with a light, stable aluminum frame wrapped in EVA padding for a comfort carry. The waist belt and shoulder straps also feature EVA, and you can remove the waist belt if your dawn patrol will be a quick cruiser.
DAKINE Mission Pro 25L Backpack - Women's
Head into the backcountry for some epic powder-hunting with the Dakine Women's Mission Pro 25L Backpack and keep everything you need for a successful day within reach. A separate compartment for your avalanche safety gear allows you to easily access your shovel and probe in an emergency situation, and generous main compartment offers up plenty of room for extra layers, skins, snacks, and a first aid kit. The pack is hydration-compatible, too, and features an insulated hose sleeve so your water source doesn't freeze.
Since the most epic lines sometimes require the longest, steepest bootpacks, the Mission sports both a horizontal and vertical snowboard carry option, as well as a diagonal ski carry, so you can secure your preferred set of sticks as you work your way up steep chutes and ridges. And, even when the pack is loaded with your skis or board, a padded waistbelt, shoulder straps, and back panel evenly distribute the weight so you can move comfortably through the mountains.

La Sportiva Sparkle 2.0 Alpine Touring Boot - Women's
Sure, you don't have much trouble smoking everyone in your group on daily dawn patrols and all-day backcountry missions, but if your boot can't stand up to your aggressive skiing style, what use does it serve? For women who like ripping the descent as hard as they charge up the skintrack, the La Sportiva Sparkle 2.0 provides the optimal balance of lightweight functionality and expert downhill performance.
The reshaped shell now accommodates a far wider variety of feet and has a beefed up flex. Four Pegasus buckles with an optional power strap allow you to dial in your fit so you can capitalize on every ounce of that stiff flex in techy couloirs and wide-open powder fields. 60-degree cuff rotation and a comfortable EZ Thermo heat-moldable liner keep feet moving comfortably on long days, and the three preset forward lean positions can be selected according to your preference. The bottom line is that this boot is perhaps the stiffest, most responsive boot in the lightest, fastest package you can get—oh, and by the way, your friends might appreciate a head start on both ends.
Hey it's brad from back country skiing canada calm and today we're going to talk about the last sport team of specter 2.0 alpine touring boot this. Replaces the original spectrum boot which we reviewed a few years back that can be found over here this is still the. Lightest 4 buckle boots on the market it weighs in at 1400 45 grams or about. Three pounds three ounces that's four half pair size 27 and a half sizing. Comes in from 25 all the way to 35 sorry 31.5 in half sizes the boot is a little. But stiffer this year it's got a 115 flex rating which is about five percent stiffer than previous version the shell. Is made of grille made and the cuff is p back so that's what makes this boot so light again it's four buckles so it's a pretty light boot considering it's a four buckle boot it's also now compatible with alpine bindings tech. Bindings and tr2 bindings so that's a new feature as well what is the same on. This boot is the low profile Pegasus. Buckles really simple easy cam device to use they don't pop out when you're using the boot takes a little bit of getting used to using them because they are so innovative but once you get used to using them they're pretty easy to use. On a day-to-day basis thermo moldable. Easy liner is the same as well and also the 60-degree cuff rotation so a really huge range of motion in walk mode and. What i love about the less marked eva's in the original version in this version is you don't have to unbuckle the boot to get that range of motion i keep the boot totally buckled up i might open this one up just to get the blood flow again but in fully buckled mode you can. Get that sixty degrees which is pretty incredible the sole on the 2.0 is a. Vibrant sole it's got the harder the. Harder sole in the yellow locations and the softer soul in the black location so that you can grip on a rock better and not wear down the tip and toe what is. New is well in the 2.0 version is a roomier toe box the last sport team has always had a really roomy toe box this time it's even roomier I've had to put an insert in to take up some of that room because it was just so much room for me but nice feature because you can. Wheel the toes keep them warm the pivot point as well it used to be removable with an allen key now it's built-in it's fixed which is great because i did lose the pivot point once at a lodge which was not the most opportune time so now that's a solid feature which is great color scheme is. New as well I'm digging it i think it's. A great color scheme for the boot nice and vibrant and lots of fun to wear it's also 5% stiffer as i said before. And you can definitely feel that when. Ski touring and it's a nice feature price on this is 779 canadian 679 us so. It's a pretty reasonably priced boot considering it's such a lightweight boot and it's got all these great features and yet it still skis the hill so I've. Ski turret in this the previous version the last 14 is spectre original promote. Two and a half three years i think now on the version 2.0 and it's a I'd say better than the last version they've they've improved some features but you can tour in this you can ski the hill and it kind of does it also it's one of my favorite boots that I've ever toured in or skied in period the women's. Version is the sparkle and it's got a nice color colorway as well if you're. Looking for a really light boot and you. Don't want to compromise anything on the down you want a good fit you want huge. Flex range you want a lightweight boot and optimal performance then I'd highly recommend the last sportive spectre and the last 14 of spectre 2.0 which is the new version so highly recommend this boot check it out if you're in the market for an 80 boot that you also wanna ski the resort and occasionally for more bug reviews go to. Backcountry ski in canada calm and everything else back country you'll find it there as well thanks.
Scarpa Gea RS Alpine Touring Boot - Women's
The Gea RS is Scarpa's stiffest and most powerful women's AT boot. It's designed to devour long ascents with the speed and grace of a gazelle while maintaining the ability to charge steep lines like a freeride champ. Scarpa buffed up the Gea RS this year with a lightweight design that's equally at home in pinner couloirs as it is on the skintrack.
The Gea RS features the same aggressive 120 flex and 101mm last as its predecessor and now houses a revamped carbon-infused Grilamid shell that increases stiffness and power without adding weight. Scarpa ditched the front buckle, jumping to a lower-profile three-buckle system that eliminates bulk and increases the cuff rotation from 37 to an impressive 60 degrees in walk mode—a welcome change that drastically increases uphill efficiency. Scarpa was also able to shed about five ounces per boot, a change you'll definitely notice when you leave your buddies in the dust on the skinner. Scarpa finished off the Gea RS with a grippy Vibram rubber sole, so you'll be steady and confident while traversing icy ridges and slick scree fields.
Hey this is dave with tomm mountain. Sports I'm here to talk about the scarpa 80 boots that we have in stock today the. Gia rs for women and the australia rs. For guys or women with larger feet I'm gonna point out some quick features of. These two boots for you so you can kind of get a handle on what's going on here the mists rolly and the jia rs are the. Bigger earlier cousins of the regular. Mr. ali and jia they are stiffer 20. About 20 percent stiffer and their flex. Is going to be a more progressive flex, and they're also going to be a little bit lighter so if you're looking for. Sort of the lightest the highest performing boots on the market from scarpa this is gonna be where you want to go scarpa has a great system here it's called the exclusive excuse me the axial. Alpine technology it allows the boot to. Fully open up and what it also does is. Creates great power transfer when you're in ski mode of the boots and when you really when you're really forcing or. When you really are leaning forward and putting some pressure on your skis what this is doing is its transmitting power all the way through the bottom of the boot in a much consistent manner as you. Can see it opens up fully so you can get in and out with ease but having the buckle system all integrated is really. Going to keep it within a great power. Transmission zone a couple of other things to point out and I'll use the women's version on this one is this over. The cuff buckle right here this is going. To be great to keep your heel in place better than a lot of the boots are it's lowering that buckle so traditionally you'll see a lot of boot buckles up here. On the shin by having this come down further what you're really doing is locking that heal in place and allowing. For a better power transmission forward because you're not inhibiting the flex. On the shin area of the boot you're staying out of the way there so by locking your foot down and allowing for. A better flex that's what that piece is doing right there still have your traditional heel walk mode really nice. Big power strap on their feature we want to point out on all of these scarpa boots as scarpa works with dina fit quite closely they. Utilize the dean effect quick steppin system both dina fit and scarpa are the. Only boot companies to utilize this. Patented system from dina fit as you can see this little groove right here in the. Tech part of the toe allows for a very. Smooth step into a dena fit binding as. Opposed to i have a technical coach ease. Right here you can see the differences in the toes and basically you can see that this groove right here on the scarpa boot is going to allow you to step right in you have a nice clue. Little arrow there on the top toe area which is what you're going to be looking at when you actually have these boots on your feet verse is a technical or some of the other boots that do not have that quick step in system so on these boots for example you're going to be trying to align the toe piece of a dean of fit binding with. The holes here and the tech fittings on this boot verses on this scarpa boot you're going to be able to just step right in almost like an alpine binding and have a nice quick step in a. Couple of differences on the men's versus the women's boot and you can't quite see it because i have this liner out is that the women's liner is gonna come down lower on the calf women tend. To have a little bit of a shorter calf area, and so they're not going to be pinched by a higher liner and then both of these boots also come with intuitions pro liner this is an amazing liner. Superuser lightweight really flexible. You still have your walk mode flex zone. Here on the back as you can see you have. Some great stiffness here in the back of the calf and you have just a really lightweight package it's fully moldable. You can walk around let's say you're in camp or staying in a hut or you're just. Out in the back country camping out you can walk around in this boot on snow or ice no problems whatsoever then again highly moldable really easy. Super comfortable extremely lightweight. That's gonna do it again dave here with tom mountain sports come check us out online TLA mountain sports comm we've got both these boots in stock and happy but anywhere in the world for you.

There are those that prefer a lightweight skin to the top over all else, including downhill performance, and then there are those that take La Sportiva's Super Maximo LS Ski out for a tour and don't have to choose. Built with SKI TRAB Lightweight Technology, the Super Maximo is both extremely lightweight yet rich with anti-torsional strength. The core is built from 14 different layers in order to reduce vibration, using lightweight wood interlaced with higher-strength wood, then reinforced with a fiberglass box. This process delivers both torsional rigidity and durability to an otherwise lightweight ride.
When it comes to downhill performance, the Super Maximo LS is well adapted to a wide range of snow conditions. It features La Sportiva's progressive Attivo shape, well tuned for adept steering, floatability, and forgiving turn initiation. This innovative shape ensures gradual entry into fresh snow, yet provides plenty of contact on sun-affected crust. Plus, the 94mm waist underfoot is wide enough to handle last night's big dump, yet narrow enough that it deals well with any wind-buffed slopes you might encounter on your way down.

La Sportiva Maximo LS Ski - Women's
Your penchant for human-powered descents may lead some to call you a glutton for punishment, but that could have something to do with the fact that they've never skied the La Sportiva Women's Maximo LS Ski. With a lightweight construction that will fly up steep skintracks like you're on an escalator and a fun-having progressive shape, this ultralight offering from La Sportiva will keep a smile plastered on your face whether you're skinning to the base of a steep couloir or making hop turns down a line you've been dreaming about skiing all season.
La Sportiva teamed up with with Italy's Ski Trab to produce the Maximo LS. Building its skis in Italy, Ski Trab specializes in ultralight backcountry skis that inspire confidence on the descent. Utilizing Ski Trab's 14-layer Technology, the Maximo is home to a wood core with air canals to save weight and a stiff-but-light construction to keep the Maximo responsive when you're confronted with less-than-ideal conditions. Adding to the ski's overall skiability, La Sportiva commissioned the Maximo to be built with the Low Omega Profile, which makes initiating turns a breeze and reduces the chance of hooking up edges as you exit your turn, giving the skis a fluid, easy-to-ski feel when you're making your way down techy lines in the alpine.
