Hey I'm nathan welcome to the scarpa. Booth so i thought maybe you're here you'd like to see the new model of the vapor so vapor is actually one of our. Most popular climbing shoes mainly because they're very balanced they do a little bit of everything and most people haven't got to the stage where they have three four five pairs of climbing shoes, and they want one climbing shoe that does a little bit of everything they're a seven panel design so most people. Think that the intermediate they're not we've actually got just as many pieces as a drago so and the pattern that. Stitches them is very hard to do it's a very small kicker at the front here you can even see the outline on the shoe and that's because the toe position in vapor is a little bit flatter that's because vapor we really wanted to. Make it an aging and smearing shoe that. Had a good balance between either the first version of the vapor was almost all ever and then the next version of. The vapor was a combination of synthetic and other materials and then the last version of the vapor that we got here is. Synthetic on both sides with a leather at the bottom so the version before i. Had suede leather on the inside here, and we exchanged that from microfiber and. That made the upper a little bit softer as well as we reduce the volume of the tongue and tapered it a little bit so that made the whole shoe a little bit softer, so we put a new plastic insert on the inside and previously. Would have heard that we had flex and plastic inserts we use that a lot from the performance models and the new vapor has a tail and plastic insert and the. Tail is just a little bit stiffer we also extended the plastic up and over the heel so it just gave a little bit more structure to the shoe because changing out the leather for the synthetic softened the upper, and we didn't want to change the characteristic of the shoe very much for climbing we just really wanted to make it a little bit more comfortable and a little less of breaking in period but the same performance one of the other things that you'll notice it's got a excess grip to. Here with two layers so that's something that we previously did on the instinct model and a lot of people really liked it, so we put this onto the model it adds a little bit more labor but it gives the heel the ability to. Change shape and obviously it gives the best rubber for heel hooking on the other side so overall we improved. Basically the characteristics so the. Shoe could break in a little bit faster but in the end the shoe remains on the. Same last with the same shape and just a. Color update and a softening of the upper and a stiffening of the mid sole the vapor woman's and the vapor men's. Are on different lasts so they have. Different rubbers so you'll see this sample prototypes got excess edge it's actually excess group two on the women's and it's excess edge on the men's but. That's not really the biggest difference the biggest difference is the total volume of the shoe so especially in the heel the volume is a lot narrower and more sculptured on the female version than it is on the male i mean a. Lot of people are choosing the shoes off the outside looks it's not what we want. We want them to look inside and climb with the shoe but in the end the velcro. Strap looked a little bit nicer with a little bit of 3d print pulling it out the strapless is the same we did insert. A piece of elastic in the middle here just to kind of keep that flat and keep. A real snug fit because we felt the straps just pulled in two points and the middle point didn't get pulled in enough so that's why the velcro versions. Changed slightly on either side we did a lot of changes on it in the hope that we. Would make it more comfortable but changed nothing about the characteristic of the shoe and you know in the end that meant that we changed the whole mid sole the shape and the plastic so it's its. Probably it is yeah it's a totally. Different shoe with the same characteristic when you climb but um i think it shows that you can't just fit all with one layer and not affect the whole shoot so each layer has an. Effect doesn't matter what you do even just changing the material will change the way it comes out at 2019 and. The price is a moderate increase but i. Think it's marginal five bucks ten. Bucks yeah, so we tried as much as we could to keep the same price but obviously there's a little bit more work especially in the heel it's gone from a single layer here or to a dual layer. Excess grip here so it takes a little. But more work to do that most people. Just don't realize how much work goes into the climbing shoes if you put a relative price on the climbing shoes compared to some of the other shoes that the margins are actually pretty small they take a long time to make and. There's a lot of handwork in them, but we're capped by having the most expensive prices on the market i think people just don't understand how long it takes, and we've got you know 38 of our. 39 models are all made in italy, so we haven't got the alternative of cheaper manufacturing or anything like that.

Pretty sick it's pretty sick what we did. With this was we took our kinetic core construction from our zeno center chaos. And our ethos this is really the guts of that we stripped all the shell and everything off and left the the bare bones basically the skeleton so this is. Vector and fiber super strong doesn't absorb water really packable really lightweight made the width balance. Between comfort and pack ability way more comfortable than you would think but it's alpine rig it's designed for alpine climbing no adjustment on the leg loops you know the only adjustment is the waist belt to get it on and off and this belay loop is super cool it's. Basically one strand of super high-tech. Fiber that's wrapped around like a doughnut and then wrapped in this casing. So it's not like that most belay loops are a piece of webbing that's folded into looping and bar tack so that's how we could get this to be so strong and so small and it's way way way over built we. Could even make it smaller and it would still meet all the requirements but it would get to the point you'd be freaked out we actually played with the diameter. Of this tubing a lot because our other. Have thicker but then it's it's not as. Packable we found this to be a good balance between functionality and pack ability if you put nothing on it then it's really hard especially with gloves and jackets and stuff in packs some ski mountaineer is gonna wear this you go to the tetons you want a real harness that's really light in packs well 224 grams that's insane it's only 5 grams i. Think heavier than the kawar which i would classify as not a full functioning harness you know yes you can wrap it and. Stuff like that but you know it's got the diaper legs and no gear loop you know that kind of thing so this is like got everything you need on it called the. Vision because we thought that these climbers that are looking at these crazy north faces in the mountains like they have the vision to link up these ice smears and stuff this is the kind of harness that they want to wear sadly we. Gorgeous Joshua tree national park we just finished up a really great day of climbing and i wanted to tell you a little bit about my new helmet here this is the black diamond women's vector helmet i love it i just started climbing. With it today and i just wanted to give a review of it first thing i really love is how lightweight this thing is you can barely feel that it's on your head which. Is awesome and just don't have to think about it the second thing is that it has really nice padding on the inside just. Right in the front here and over the top so it kind of keeps my helmet snug. Doesn't let it move to run too much and keeps just really comfortable the third thing is these straps they're really fit. Really well for a woman's head so they. Just lie really nice next to my ears they don't dig in anywhere and it just. Fits nice and that's more important than. You think when you're on a really long climb the next thing i really like is. These nice little clips most helmets. Have these, but they are nice for your helm your light that you have on your helmet if the light starts to go down like right now it's turning it is on set so if we do one more climb we'll just throw a headlamp on and clip it in and I'm all set to go so yeah the women's vector helmet really. Is not a shoe for those of us with really wide feet my foot spread is wider. Then the shoe itself my feet suffered quite a busy and just when i thought it was paying off the paper like mid sole started peeling away i thought removing the bottom part of the insole would help but my feet were exhausted and achy after weeks of trying to stretch the shoe and i was forced to find the most minimalist insole i could find after trial and error see i went. For the super feet carbon insole which took virtually no space inside the show yet provided outstanding protection this. Will cost these shoes between one and two stars i shouldn't have to go buy insoles. That are more expensive than the shoe itself br fi nal verdict brits a good. Pair of shoes minimalist ish and seems. Durable but in my case eket was definitely not comfortable and i had to go through more time and money in order to make my monster feet feel like home in them i like the lucy and the fact. That i can feel the terrain with more grip than other shoes i own except my 510 war hawks.

Planning on going on some overseas. Travel the reason i got the extra small. Was that i could fit into it and then also that it fit more of the dimensions. Of being able to become a carry-on. Rather than something that i would have to check i wanted something that had enough room for 10 sleeping pads all my. Close some electronics and yeah. Basically just all my needs as far as. Being overseas and traveling for an extended period of time i really liked look the look of this bag. Online i checked it out on their website. Which is probably where i would recommend doing any specs checking of. Any backpacks would be to go to the. Brands website because i have found that. On amazon or any outfitters websites. They just don't have the correct specifications i got this through rei. It's about i think 160 dollars and the. Things that i really do like about it or. What drew me to the bag were i really. Like the kangaroo pouch in the front this mesh pouch I've already done some. Extended backpacking and this is kind of like a must for me because I'm not the. Most organized person in the world and when have like maybe a jacket or a raincoat that i don't want to open up my entire. Pack to put back in here and make it. Super organized i just like to shove it into here and it's nice to say you have. Snacks or something that you want to just get to fast this is a must for me another thing that kind of drew me to. The pack was this is what they call a. Brain on a backpack and i like having a. Rather, larger brain it's just pretty. Pretty large and i like that you can fit. You know a good portion of stuff in here. One thing that i thought was kind of. Different about the design on this one. Which i do like that it's somewhat. Detachable we're just flexible i don't know that you can fully remove it because this is the weird part it kind of has this strap system that goes from. They i don't know they got kind of funky with the straps on this backpack to be honest it's got this one that connects to this it kind of runs down through these two loops and then back up through this knot and that can kind of cinch it. Down which i do enjoy that it keeps it. Pretty sturdy but i just think that there's kind of necessary leakage one. Think that i have come to realize after. Having received it was that these straps. Are i think a little bit too simple for. Me and not as comfortable as i was. Hoping so just putting it on putting you. Now a lot of gear in it and testing it. Out and feeling it out these are pretty thin and as far as osprey packs go. They've come a long way with how. Amazing and cushioned and patted their. Straps are the pack that i hiked with. Through a year and a half it was like my. Home it was the osprey aura 65 and not. Long straps in compare more amazing these i just i don't. Now if i can get behind a bag that's gonna actually hurt my shoulder ernest. Because I've gotten spoiled so yeah this. Is the back of it which is pretty decent. I think as far as you know back to concern you do get a lot of airflow in here but in again it's a slight. Disappointment compared to where osprey. Is now with their backs especially i think with the anti gravity backs that they're coming up coming out with right now this just you know i don't know that. You can get as much air flow as you know. The other box do because they're almost you know of of your back it does have. The adjustable shoulder straps where you. Can get in here and adjust it to size. Which is nice it does have this the. External bladder right here which i do. Enjoy probably better than having it on. The inside for me i don't know if it's. Completely 100% necessary cuz I'm not. Even sure I'm gonna be taking my bladder on my travels so something again I'm. Just gonna kind of way out so these are a side mesh pocket, and they have some. Blue straps here that it goes either on. The outside or you can realign them on. The inside sometimes i think they're. Just a little bit overkill these this. One in particular go zigzag across this. Pocket but then also attaches to the hip. Belt and this side pocket so i don't. Now if cinching this up a lot is gonna. Just like i don't know. It's just for me I'm not sure the reason. Why it's there if you know leave a comment this right here for like ice. Pick and i know their cord right here. You can tie it down so these straps. Right here are load stabilizer straps, and they help you balance how much of a. Load that you're taking on your upper back so those are really helpful i think. Most backpacks come with them as far as the hip belt it looks pretty nice looks. Like it's got some air flow to it even these pockets right here are like half. Mesh which is kind of nice another thing. When i was kind of disappointed in was the quality or the sturdiness of these. Straps on the buckle and so this buckle. I'm not super stoked on the design or. The quality it just seems kind of. Slightly flimsy so and we can give you a. Lot of to work with here i know. It's the extra small and i mean that's. Kind of what it comes with but say you're having a heavy day and you. No need a little bit more room for. This like it's not that big so i enjoy. That there aren't super long straps cuz. On my last one they were really long but yeah i just give at least a little bit. More oh and it's got this sternum strap. And the sternum strap is adjustable as well so that's nice to have one of these. That can adjust easily this little. Pocket i was somewhat excited for but i. Don't know what more than like your two. Fingers you can fit in here i was hoping. That it might be able to fit like my ipod but i have come to found out the. Test will not happen it's just way too. Small so that's kind of diss yeah i think that's the stow on the go trekking poles and so you can store them. Right here in here which is really nice. When you're hiking and you just don't want to use them or you have to kind of like scramble up some rocks so there's just the two entrances the bottom and the top i do like this kind of. Compression saint-jean my top which is your bags pretty full and you want to just cinch it down that's pretty nice it. Does open really wide which i like and. So you can just get in there and it's. Pretty nice that if you don't have a side entry then you've got a nice big. Open entrance to the top of your bag. Yeah so then there's the bottom entrance. Here and i don't know if i might just. Not read it but i was hoping for kind of. Like separation down here for my sleeping bag but there isn't any separation so i mean if you're taking. Put your bag some other stuff might fall. Out i don't know i just like for the. Divider here these clips serves or you. No sleeping mask or yoga mat or whatever you keep on here all around i. Feel like this is a pretty awesome bag but the only thing is. That for i think long distance traveling. It just doesn't do't have some of the. Some features that i like you know bag i would maybe recommend it for like some maybe week-long backpacking. Hikes or if you're more into the kind of. Minimalistic style i would say it feels really good i think I'm possibly just going to look for a another bag and find. Something that fits my needs because. Leather version is going to have a material that's gonna be a little bit more multi at weather condition then the. Mesh and you get the toe cap over there you're also going to see our exoskeleton. And the idea behind the exoskeleton is to give more lateral support to the shoe so it wraps up underneath your heel. Around your arch and you get a nice good technical fit the leather will stretch. Just a tiny bit and the mesh ism is gonna be the synthetic there so you won't receive any stretch on that end so yeah i mean this is a great shoe for. Really a lot of different functions in the outdoors and really happy to have it's super lightweight and in just extremely versatile it's available now it's called the xs.
