Peter Chang here and today we’re going old, hardcase and what’s interesting about the squirreled hardcase is that it really protects your sunglasses really well. Looking at the box, it’s not very visual, doesn’t give you much information as to which type or pattern or or a style of case that you have Oakley actually makes a couple of them. Some of them have imprinted graphics, others have this kind of carbon fiber look.
The one I picked is just bright orange and what I love about this type of color is that I have a lot of other Oakley accessories and they tend to be kind of either gray, black or brown, and they kind of get lost. In my cart, it was something like my sunglasses, I I, just won’t lose them all the time, so I don’t need to have something fairly bright and kind of kind of just out there and and sticks out there just visually for myself.
So if you’re, if you’re like me and you lose love, your accessories I highly recommend this kind of orange color and we see that it fits my Holbrook’s pretty. Well, it’s a little bit slightly. A little bit larger than my whole works and I could say from personal experience that you could actually drop this case, no not from like too high, but but from like two feet or so, and it does.
It does protect the sunglasses quite well and really it’s it’s just the overall. It’s just a really nice accessory. It’s basically crafted with a soft lining, and you have this kind of hardshell exterior, and it’s got this clean. Look that earns this Oakley icon, pretty much its uncomplicated and it’s great for you, sports professional, and it fits right in the back of your messenger bag or duffel bag.
So let me just show you this here. It just closes in really nice and tight and just protects everything really well now, with my shaun white Holbrook’s, I also have the microfiber case as well too. So I could also just wrap this around the microfiber case, make sure everything’s tucked in there, and everything fits in there, nice and snug, and this is the way I’d like to travel so pretty much just in case I get like a thumb, smudge or you know, fingerprint on the lens.
I always have the nice microfiber case to reach into and clean it. Thanks for watching.
We’ve been up in now beauty and bright for the last few days now I’m testing out these Oakley radar V’s, so we’ll just go through a few, the details of the Oakley radar V’s and then what we thought of it. So to start off, the Oakley radar ETS have had a little bit of a revolution over the last design model. Oakley have done a lot of testing with Mark Cavendish and they’ve actually found that when he’s riding, what he’s looking at is actually the top sort of third of the lens here, as opposed to the bottom third and in the center.
So what they’ve done is changed the profile, the top of the sunglasses here to just add a little bit more vision and take into account when he’s down on the drops and he’s working really hard and he’s looking straight up. So it’s a really nice feature. It is and I think it’s immediately obvious as soon as you put them on, and it actually makes sense. I’m surprised, it hasn’t happened before now, because of course, that’s the way your head positions go to be a lot of the time they stand out for me was so oakley call it prism lens technology, which is I, think it’s come about from their research specifically in the snow, but it’s all about contrasting the colors and increasing the visibility.
So, as you can tell, we are up here during autumn, and life looks better through these lenses like I’ve been riding and just stopping going. Oh, my gosh. Those trees are amazing and then I’ll take my sunnies off and it’s nowhere near as good. So that’s probably the downside of these Sunny’s is once they’re off life’s a little bit more bland visually and they also do a really nice dark to light and light to dark contrast. Now, so they’ve changed the lens slightly, so that it’s not as a dramatic shift and it transitions from colors a lot better and we certainly found out starting riding early in the morning as the Sun started to rise and started to get brighter.
It was certainly less of an issue for us making that transition. Yeah Julie, nice, -, yeah I, agree, we’ve sort of been out here in all conditions at the moment, and it’s been fine one thing I noticed when we were climbing. So of course you know you’re getting pretty hot and we did stop off quite a bit to take photos and get annoyed by a camera crew, but they are pretty good of they’re fairly well, ventilated it. You can see the little um slits up here that allow air in so there might be a slight fog at first when you stop, but the moment you put the the moment you take off again, it just disappears straight away, yeah.
Certainly when we’re going, we didn’t notice that at all, no that was really nice. No, not at all and another thing as well. They’re really light I, don’t know if you found that, but I hardly noticed, I had them on they’re light and they’re kind of like a snug fit. So you yeah it’s like a lot of the products we’ve been reviewing over the last few days when you don’t feel it and you don’t notice that it’s there, then you know it’s good product yeah. Absolutely so, I’ve been really happy with these I must say and um.
They give me plenty of options to go with the loopy colors. They do lots of color options, I’m bringing it down for the end. So I want a more about matching. My socks and my keys yeah yours are about the lippy, so we’ve gold, it’s good.
What’s up guys Peter here from reviews on anything and today we’re having a look at an opening product? More specifically the Oakley carbon fiber eyewear case black large weights comes with a nice standard, Oakley box I believe they ship their sunglasses in similar boxes, with a bit of branding on the front and some bar codes, and that is it and that continues inside the box, because all there is it.
It is the case itself now, as you can see, hopefully Oh camera. It has a carbon fiber weave here and it’s important to tell you right off the bat that this case is not made out of carbon fiber. It’s maybe skinned in carbon fiber and obviously that makes a big difference, mainly in the price and in the weight, because if it was made completely out of carbon fiber, it would probably weigh next to nothing but also be very expensive.
There’s a little bit of ugly branding here on the top, which sort of sits in the whole of the case kind of gray. It goes with the grey and black accents in the carbon in the case itself. There’s a hinge here on the back, nothing else really little indentation here on the front and that’s why you open the case up inside of the case. It’s lined with a very soft material, obviously, because if you put your sunglasses or normal glasses -, no, you don’t want them to scratch.
Now it is a fairly standard size. They call this large, but if you compare it to Oakley’s glasses case soft vault, it is actually a little bit slimmer, but pretty much the same size, so you should be able to fit most sunglasses either by Oakley or by other brands in here and obviously for reading glasses or normal glasses. This is a perfect case as well. Now this case is made out of steel and skin with carbon fiber, so that makes it very coarse.
Proof is why I hope he likes to put it, which is true, I mean it’s. It’s really feels like something you could almost drive over with your car and it won’t budge and see the design the shape the sort of the the pill shape size. The pill shape shape. If you want helps with that -. That’s it’s very crush resistant problem comes, though, that it has no locking mechanism other than it sort of snaps closed like this, but there’s no lock here, unlike this case, which has a zipper, for example, which is all fine, but it does mean that it’s if you start to subject it to some twisting force.
It is not all that rigid also when you slide the parts over each other, you can see that it starts to give in quite a bit, so whether it’s pressure applied on the top from the top down is no primer at all. The case can handle that if you start applying pressure elsewhere, it becomes a bit of an issue. So that’s just something to take into consideration, but you know, obviously this is going to live in your luggage or in your glove box and for those kind of situations and everyday use.
It’s just fine big point of criticism actually is the opening and I’m more specifically, the part where you put your thumb, there’s a little indentation here. I hope you can see it on camera. When you put your thumb, so you can sort of open the clamshell up, but it’s very very it’s it’s there’s nothing there! It’s it’s very slippery, obviously, because it’s carbon there’s hardly any edge for you to put your thumb in in order to pry it open.
Of course you can just hold the edges and hole, but it’s it serves absolutely no purpose as a little dent. So I don’t like that. That’s not very nice! Other than that. It is quite heavy surprisingly, even though it’s a carbon fiber branded case, but hey like I, said it’s made out of steel or lightweight steel, at least according to Italy, so it is pretty heavy, so we’ll take that into consideration as well.
What I do like is that the weave of the carbon matches sort of throughout the throughout the case, which is you know, gives a very nice effect, and it looks very stylish I think, and you can pick it up for a little over 21 pounds here in the UK, so I don’t know, probably the equivalent in dollars and euros elsewhere and I. Think for that money you get not the best case in the world, but definitely nice case and the carbon look is you know just a little different, so that’s nice, it’s worth the money.
I know. Probably not. You know. Why would you go for style over function, but you know it’s at something you’re into then you know why not it’s a nice case looks good, looks nice and sleek and, despite the fact that it, you know wobbles a bit here and there dis will definitely keep your glasses, whatever kind they might be safe and secure. This is a quick look at the oakley carbon-fiber eyewear case black large I’m Peter from videos or anything please subscribe to channel and give this video a thumbs up.
If you liked it and I’ll talk to you guys in next one Cheers, you.
Everyone, this is Rob from sport rx and today we’re going to talk about the Oakley carbon ships. This is a new men’s iconic frame. These things are pretty sweet, hence the name carbon shift. They got carbon fiber temples. These glasses are made out of real carbon, fiber, lightweight, aluminum and, of course, o matter so they’re going to be really lightweight, really durable, and you get this super cool carbon fiber design, you’re going to get some unobtainium on the inside so that they grip and stay in place.
They have an awesome hinge system here. This is called the spring. Cam hinge, it’s pretty beefy. It’s pretty durable, I. Think you’re going to have trouble. Messing these glasses up. Of course, they’re going to use Oakley standard, 3, fit system, 3-point fit system, nothing standard about it, but those things will stay on your head. These are going to have about a medium fit ploop night lenses. These are eight base, so a full wraparound and sizing on them. If you’re curious, the a measurement width is 62 millimetres.
The nose bridge area is 16 millimeters, the temples are 134 millimeters and the height of the lens is about 41 and a half millimeters, so these glasses just about that medium fit. If you’re looking in to get something carbon shift into the carbon shift, you.
Hi I’m Brian, if glasses, calm here to sunglasses, these sunglasses have a retro inspired style with a modern twist they made of both o matter and carbon fiber material, which is both lightweight and super. Durable. The temples are a really cool shape and come with beta titanium twin shock hinges, which allow for more flexibility and comfort. There is unobtainium on the temples which helps the frame stay in place, check out the Oakley Jupiter carbon sunglasses.
And today we’re going to be looking at a new product from Oakley. This is the Oakley strong box case available through the standard issue website and actually got a glimpse of this earlier this year at shot, show at the standard issue, booth and I was pretty excited when I saw that it would have been released on the standard issue site right now. The strong box comes in three variations and I have the site pulled up here, so you guys can see what that looks like.
So you get the strong box pick and pluck the strong box accessory case and then the strong box, eyewear or a case now, as you guys, can see the pick and pluck and the eyewear a case both come in black and then the accessory case comes in this ten. Now the main difference between the three they’re, both they’re, all three of them I’m sorry, are the same size.
The main difference is the pick and pluck actually comes full, so you can actually pick and pluck the foam inside and basically make whatever shape. It is that you need the other two, the accessory case and the eyewear array case already comes set up depending on what you’re going to need from them. So obviously the accessory case has more cutouts, so you can put I wears and accessories and lenses, and things like that versus the eyewear rate case is: you can either have two different size, I wears in there a couple different lenses and then a space in the middle from for some accessories as well.
All three cases as auto dimensions are the same size and basically they’re all seven and a half inches on the length right or the width. I should say right here, eight inches on the length this way and then four and a half inches on the height, so seven and a half by eight by four and a half. So just keep that in mind, because it is a fairly large case and again, the purpose of these cases are to to store iron accessories.
It’s just obviously more of a rugged design to these cases. Again, it’s right now. It’s on the standard issue site. So this is definitely something that is going to protect whatever you put inside of it. So let’s take a look at this one right here. This particular one is the Iowa array case. So I went with this one because it already had to cut I didn’t want to mess with having to do the pick and pluck or anything like that, but I really do enjoy it and I’m thinking about maybe picking up the accessory case, the one in the 10 just to have both the black and the tan.
But again it all depends on the need that I have for these. So let’s take this off right here and we’ll took a look at the case itself. So again, it is very, very rugged, looking and very rugged feel alright. So it’s a little heavy I’m, not exactly sure, as far as the weight goes, but I’ll just keep that in mind. If you’re going to be carrying this around or anything like that, the case itself is already a bit heavy.
So once you start putting all the accessories and I wearing things like that in there it’s just going to add a little bit to the weight, so you do have the icon right here and I, like all the different stylings and design aesthetics, that they did all around the case and makes it look really awesome very rugged. You know it definitely sets that aside from a lot of other cases out there, it has a very Pelican case.
Look to it. So if you guys are familiar with those, it’s going to look like that. So you have a really nice grab handle right here. You know it stays in place wherever you put it. So if you bring it up, it’s going to stay there and then, if you bring it down, it’ll stay there as well, and you have some ridges right here, so if you’re wearing gloves or if your heads are wet or something like that, it’s not going to slip around and then also underneath right here.
It has like a rubber insert in there, which adds a little bit more grip to the handle itself. But obviously, since it’s hollowed out, it doesn’t make it as heavy really thick hinges on those, as well as the actual clasp right here on the side. So you have these little ridges on there which allow you to to grab onto it and that’s we open it and then, when you close it down it snaps right down, and then you have one on either side.
So those are the the two clasp and then in the back. You have right here. The hinges. Also one thing I did want to point out is it is made in the USA, so that’s always a plus. So let’s go ahead and open it up and look at the inside now. I have already put a couple items in there. What I did is I transitioned, my M frame alpha from the original array case that it normally comes in I’m putting them in here.
So you guys go ahead and open it up there. It is so again this one is the Iowa or a case, so it has mirror image on both these. So you have a wider area to put eyewear or whatever it is. You want to put in there and you have a couple cutouts for lenses and then one bigger one here in the middle for accessories. So on the bottom here you have a rubber gasket that goes all the way around and that seals the top to the bottom.
So it makes it waterproof dustproof things like that on the very top you have this kind of eggshell foam insert, which again, if things are a little bit higher, this will allow it to move to whatever you have in there and it’s going to protect it that much more so the the foam on the inside. It’s basically the depth of the bottom portion of the case here.
So whatever you put in there is going to go in all the way down and then you’ll the foam itself will come all the way up to the top. So it’s going to protect it all the way around and then the top lid right here will protect them on the top right there. So again, like I mentioned I have my M frame alphas. So on this side, I have the actual frame with the the Hilo gasket.
In there, and if it’s as you guys, see they’re very very nicely, I do have one of the replacement lenses right here. So if you guys see this, it has an area to put a shield lens and then two smaller cutouts in front of that. So you can put two individual lenses if you wanted to so, if you had something like a flat jacket or you know something that takes two lenses as opposed to one shield lens, you can put that in there as well and then on the opposite side.
I have the goggles with the strap in the middle, and then here is the other lens, so that those are the four lenses. I normally come with the array kit for the M frame alpha and then in the middle here. I just have one of our Oakley’s cleaning kits, so you have the microfiber cloth in there and then the cleaning solution, and then this is a little bag that it comes with and, as you guys can see, it is a kind of open area right there and it fits in there very very nicely, and it makes for a really awesome package, obviously to microfiber bags on either side the one for the goggles and the one for the frames there, and you know once you close it down and snap these down.
It is very secure. As name dictates, it is a strongbox, so this is definitely going to keep whatever you have in there nice and secure. It is a flat bottom, so it will sit very nicely on any flat surface. I have actually been carrying this inside of my EDC bag, especially if I’m you know going around and showing off showing off the time frame. Alpha-2 different people I think it makes for a really awesome.
Conversation piece. I know that on the M frame, alpha itself is you have the option of purchasing the array kit with either the standard rate case or the strongbox I? Believe it’s the the tan one that does your tan one that you saw on the website there. So that’s really cool. They give you the option to already get it in this box. If not, you can purchase one of the three choices of the strongbox alone, I believe on the standard issue site right now.
These are about $56. So again, it’s a little bit more expensive than your regular cases, but if you’re serious about protecting your equipment, especially if you’re going to be an environment where the equipment might be getting knocked around and stuff like that or you travel a lot- and this is definitely a great option for that. So again, this is the Oakley strongbox case from the standard issue line, and it is available right now on the standard issue site.
So if you guys interested, definitely go ahead and check it out and if you guys have any questions, let me know thanks.
