Splitboard is a two-piece snowboard. Each half is a ski with a toe cap and a free heel. You can, therefore, climb the mountain, as in ski tour. The main advantage of splitboard is the capacity to access to snow hills outside the track. It combines in itself advantages both skiing and snowboarding. Recently elaborated magnetraction snowboards will provide the most possible performance.
There are 3 types depending on the board's width:
Would be better to choose wide splitboard or midwide one? The main criterion is your boots size. More width gives you higher stability.
Other features you can read and choose from the table below or the description list. And now, take a look at 9 high-rated splitboards.
Lib Tech Splitboard - Men's
Okay, so maybe our top line is hyperbolic to some extent, seeing that skinning up the lines of your dreams is never a truly effortless affair. However, it's safe to say the newest Lib Tech Split Brd makes bagging descents down drool-worthy lines easier than you've ever imagined, thanks to its lightweight construction, C3 profile for skinning ease, and directional shape for surfing pow on the way down. This early-release model is the result of Lib Tech's extensive focus on a split that skins uphill just as competently as it rips down, making it an excellent choice for long days in the backcountry where saving energy is crucial to making one more lap along your favorite stash.
Delving into its board profile, you'll find C3 is predominately camber from tip-to-tail, with a subtle rocker between the bindings for a bit more maneuverability and easier float—without it being as loose and freestyle-specific as Lib Tech's original Banana profile. C3 is ideal for a splitboard, as the touring brackets have camber directly underneath to help you gain confidence and control on the uphill skin. Another benefit of C3 is the excellent edge hold afforded by a predominately camber design, especially considering its use with serrated Magne-Traction edges. And because it's not as floaty as more rocker-dominant profiles, Lib Tech adds a bit of rocker to the large nose, so you can plane across deep powder without it bogging down.
- Lib Tech's touring machine devours untouched backcountry lines;
- C3 profile is camber-dominant for powerful response and edge hold;
- Directional shape with large, rockered nose for enhanced float;
- Medium-stiff flex pattern maintains stability at higher speeds;
- Karakoram Ultra Clips eliminate centerline slop and unnerving flex;
- Lightweight paulownia wood core reinforced with beech along rails;
- Triax/biax fiberglass lay-up for torsional responsiveness;
- TNT base is extruded for easier maintenance and repair;
- Item #LBT008O.
Nitro Splitboard Doppleganger - Men's
In half, the Nitro Doppleganger Splitboard is a splitting image of itself. Combine that with Nitro's all-new Hike Pods (exclusive to the Doppleganger), and you're in for a far easier time on the skin track. You can expect fewer kick turns turned into terrible slides downhill, and speaking of the downhill, this board can shred just like any Nitro board. Its Cam-Out profile mixes powerful camber from just inside contact point to just inside contact point with rocker sections out to the tip and tail. Not only does this enhance the float and maneuverability in powder but it creates powerful energy transfer to the edges for laying hard carves or navigating dicey situations.
Nitro made the Doppleganger's core with a unique combination of light, stiff balsa wood and the same Koroyd inserts found in helmets. Koroyd tubular cores maintain proper rigidity for the torsional stability necessary for hucking cliffs, except it's a far lighter construction that keeps the splitboard at a backcountry-friendly weight. The core has Diamond Laminates to drastically amplify stiffness for a peace of mind when you're landing a big jump. Nitro finished off the Doppelganger with a durable, sintered base for the enhanced abrasion resistance required for the backcountry's often rocky rides.
- Directional splitboard is light, stiff, and responsive;
- Cam-Out camber grants this board all-terrain versaility;
- Moderately stiff flex ideal for intermediate to advanced riders;
- Koroyd core with balsa wood is lightweight and stiff;
- Hike Pods give a better grip on the uphill;
- Tip and tail hooks with additional aluminum hooks for a more secure locks;
- Item #NTR00C4.

Come no further check out team favorite. Griffon seabirds favorite flip board 2008 nitro doppelganger split board it's. A beauty. The doppelganger also edges on the inside of the ski to add to. Durability and make it easier to ride down hills when you're skiing.
Hi I'm griffin sievert this is the nitro. Doppelganger this is like the board I've been riding for the past two years split. Boarding it seriously rules its good for like every condition for going through like super tyke trees to like. Bombing shoots and riding huge faces it. Will get everything done for you the nitro doppelganger is a traditional. Cambridge snow board it's got nitros cam out so it's traditional camber until. Right outside the bindings and then reverse camber on the tip and tail it just help you flow a little bit better in the pow since usually when you're splitting your in fresh snow hopefully. And then it's a mid wide as well just. Helps you flow a little bit better with no heel or toe drag it has hiker pods on the side cut which make it a little bit. Flatter right in between the bindings which help you just have better grip on the skin up because we all know that can. Be frustrating at times and you don't want to fall and also as nitros wintered. Speed formula eight h.d base super fast. So you're not sticking especially in the springtime when it gets a little warm and you're adding some slushy snow good corn it will keep you haul and ash down. The hill fully compatible with like bolle Karakorum bindings factory inserts. The one benefit to like a factory split board is one's a little bit lighter too. Like say, you have a buddy that wants to try it you can switch the stance up you don't feel like ruin your board by like the diy splits are awesome, but they have. Like t bolts in them then you can't move your stance so it's way better to have. The factory ones you can have some stance option switch it regular to goofy super easy to put all the touring brackets on one good part too about a. Factory split is inside the split it is. A factory edge so when you do it. Yourself it's really hard to get this edge and this helps a lot on the uphill climb so then you have an edge on both sides especially when you get to icy on the skin track comes in very good hand. And comes very handy for skinning up. The doppelganger also comes with nitros. Chinese hooks and nose and tail clips. The cool part about the chinese hooks on this board is they're actually raised up a couple of millimeters and that allows. For the board to not have a little metal. Discs that almost every split board does and usually on split board you're hitting stuff and you got to take the shop based grind it and you won't end up bass grounding through that piece you don't have any metal on there and one's gonna make it faster and then to ill it'll last longer and then it's super easy to replace them because they're all allen key sets especially these nose and. Tail clips it's pretty cool because you can just take a flat head and take it out most companies it's definitely tough to. Get them out because you have to like rivet them off yeah makes just the diy. Part and anything wear and tear a little. But easier this board i would definitely. Recommend for anyone that's riding like especially here in salt lake this is like the epic board for the Wasatch if you were up in the northwest anyone that. Like wants to have a good split board that can literally do everything turning. Like the tightest aspen trees or point like the biggest chute or go riding a k. This thing would do it all it's definitely a great shape too good. Directional tapered shape helps you turn. Super fast and then helps you charge lines stable if you need it so definitely for the dude that just wants a split board that can do everything this is the board for you.

Jones Splitboard - Snowboards Storm Chaser - Men's
Packing ridiculous float into a short, stubby swallowtail, the Jones Storm Chaser Splitboard excels at surfing across the deepest powder in low-angle trees, wide open bowls, and mellow backcountry terrain. Based on the surfing premise that shorter shapes can be significantly widened for exemplary float and faster glide, the Storm Chaser Split planes across powder like a much larger board, but without the truck-like turning radius in tight glades.
Designed in collaboration with legendary surf shaper Chris Christenson, the Storm Chaser Split features a Christenson Surf Rocker that maximizes float in snorkel-deep powder, yet still performs admirably when you're carving up springtime corn. This custom-shaped rocker profile features an accentuated nose rocker that starts just inside the front inserts, combined with a subtle tail rocker behind the rear inserts. Factor in the tapered swallowtail shape for a board that naturally sinks the rear end, keeping the big nose skimming across the deep stuff with an almost weightless sensation.
Considering its dramatic rocker profile, it's nice to see Traction Tech on both the inner and outer edges of the board. This subtle edge serration dramatically increases edge hold and side-hilling competency, should you encounter a sketchy snowpack in the backcountry. Bolt-less Bridge construction does away with base bolts while tightening the connection between each half with upgraded Karakoram Ultra Clips. The Quick Tension Tail Clip attaches to Jones' climbing skins (sold separately) for better security without having to use traditional tail clips.
- Pow-loving split for surfing frozen waves;
- Continuous rocker helps it float in deep snow;
- Softer flex surfs through pow slashes;
- Control Split core is ultralight and lively;
- Durable sintered base is infused with Wend wax;
- Recycled edges and sidewalls reduce waste;
- Eco-friendly topsheet made from castor beans;
- Includes Karakoram Ultra clips and tip and tail hooks;
- Item #JSB007B.
We have the Storm Chaser. We collaborated with Chris Christensen who's a renowned surfboard shaper in San Diego. We were finally able to bring in the bottom contours of a surfboard into this, so we have the spoon nose like you'll find on a surfboard winged tail and then a speed channel.
Out the bottom, the deal of the spoon is we wave what is known as the entry point and that's where it's spooned out and then as we get into the main contact point. Under the feet, it's totally flat like a traditional board and then at the very end just to kind of free the tail a little bit with wings. It's not quite as sticky in the corners of the tail and then the speed channel. What that does is it takes the snow and pushes it out the back of the board so it creates a faster glide. These are bottom contours that surface been using for a long time.
New for this year, we had a 140 to actually ride, the 142 with tunning hard pack early season smaller mountains, the 47s might go to full cowboy and also enjoy that on smooth groomers. First thing in the morning, due to the width of it and the nature of the rocker, you ride this board a lot shorter. The more time I spend on this board the more I realize the diversity of it. Also knew when the storm-chaser series is comes and split.
It's such a fun board. It had to be a split. Works great skinning uphill and you got plenty of grip because of the width but having the shorter length is nice for kick turns. This features the boltless bridge and the new k-clip. But what has really blown me away is the torsional stiffness of the board. One thing it doesn't have is 3d bottom contours of the traditional one, the spoon, and the wings, and it comes in just the 147.
hey what's up this is for share I'm up. Here at mammoth mountain riding the gnu jones storm-chaser the jones. Storm-chaser is a collab between germy and surfboard shaper chris christensen but it has a lot of influence with surfboard design as a really cool surf. Rocker profile on the board features a. Spoon nose tail wings and a speed. Channel With that spoon knows its kind of that. Extra little bonus gift that liftoff and. Pow and kind of keep you on top and keep you going at high speeds what i like. About the storm chaser is its a small. Board that rides bigger as a really. Tight radius side cut nimble in the trees. And really responsive on the hill i ride. The 147 storm chaser kind of turns the whole mountain into this epic surf park.

I'm Lisa with Venture Snow Horse; Silverton, Colorado. We built all our force from scraps right there in the heart of San Juan mountains what we're. Looking at right here is the Paragon. This is a newer board in the line. It's all-mountain and intended to kind of be a quiver at one. You can ride it anywhere and like all the ports in our line, you can see, it's available both solid and slit. If you're venturing out of bounds or want to get into the backcountry we have your cover there. Next up we have the Felix a directional twin so those that are little more freestyle oriented will find this is a really good choice that they like to ride.
Switch the graphic on. This is featuring topo map of the Silverton area so this is actually Sultan Peak right outside of Silverton. That you see here just tying it together a little bit with where the boards are actually made.
Next up we have stormed which is our flagship freeride board. Probably our most popular model. This has some paper and stance offset. A nice wide Shovel, so really pops out the snow and does great in a variety of different snow conditions. This is probably my favorite board in the line. The one that I write about.
Here we have the Odin. This is a big mountain board so if you want to make three turns top to bottom, if you like to go at max speed, this is the board for you. Really excels in steep terrain. I have a shallower sidecut than the rest of the boards in the line so it's going to make big wide arcing parents.
This one here is our Euphoria and this is a powder surfer and a powder specific shape. As you can see, it's got a super wide nose, a cool little fishtail that helps your back leg thank you, and it's 27 centimeters wide so lots of surface area for slope motion. And then over here we've got our women's offerings on the Oracle and a Tempest. And these are the women's versions of the Paragon and Storm that we talked about over there more of an all-mountain shape for just riding in bounds with the resort. A variety of conditions and then a pretty rad shape for ladies that want to take it into bigger terrain. So, that's the Venture Lineup.
Voile Revelator BC Splitboard - Men's
The Revelator BC Splitboard by Voile enhances the skinning efficiency of the best-selling Revelator with its signature Traction-Pattern base. Inspired by the fish scale-like design found on cross-country skis, this base pattern delivers skinless grip when you're touring over flat-to-rolling terrain, such as open alpine meadows and low-angle tree runs. Ultimately, it's a great way to improve your touring efficiency when long, drawn-out approaches are mandatory to accessing the goods farther up the mountain. Take note, you'll still need skins for steep uphill travel, so please don't leave home without 'em!
You'll find the fish scale-like base blends into a traditional sintered base at the tip and tail, so you won't have to sacrifice much in the way of downhill glide when you're ripping steeps, open bowls, and pristine tree runs. The rest of the Revelator BC is based directly off the standard Regulator, and that's a good thing if you desire a stable, hard-charging split with ample float in the deep stuff. Its directional shape and cambered profile work in tandem, locking into carves and holding an edge precisely on steeps and dicey snow conditions. There's a bit of rocker in the nose, as well as subtle tapering going on in the tail, so you'll reap the benefits of additional float in powder.
Shaving weight without sacrificing structural integrity, the lightweight paulownia wood core is supplemented with two layers of carbon-infused fiberglass for enhanced responsiveness, lively snap, and greater vibration damping at high speeds. Voile's signature cap construction helps to further reduce weight, as well as reduce damage from impacts with tree branches and other objects lying underneath the snow. Moreover, you'll find Voile's Channel Puck mounting system, which gives you nearly infinite mounting options without the hassle of traditional splitboard systems. It includes Voile clips and hooks for a solid connection, as well as Voile pucks for easy binding mounting.

Welcome to Backcountry Ski in Canada. My name is Bradley Moore. Today I'll be doing a splitboard review for the Voile Revelatory BC. Voile Company based at a Utah. They've been around for a number of years. Arguably, they started it all with the do it at home split kit.
This is where you cut one of your snowboards in half and reattach it with the hardware. They provide turning it into a split board and getting you out in the backcountry.
The Revelator comes in a few different models. This is the BC which the biggest feature is the traction pattern located on the back of the board. This is right under foot where your bindings will be in touring mode. The fish-scale pattern has been seen on cross-country skis before and works really well for low angle approaches. You get to a trailhead and you're gonna hit some roly terrain where there's gonna be a little bit up and down nothing too steep. You might want to leave your skins off right away. Just carry them in your pack until you hit something steeper to throw them on.
This fish-scale pattern works really well on low angle approaches. I've used it a number of times and quite enjoy. It is tapered at the tail. A little wider at the nose. The early rise camber helps keep that pow beneath you and gives it quite a surfy feel to it. The Polonia wood core is durable and lightweight. The board itself only weighs about 6 pounds 8 ounces, has a nice flex too. It a little more rigid because you're gonna be in the backcountry and shredding the power so that's what you want for surfing. The board itself is very easy to take apart and put together, you just undo the clips at the top and bottom comes apart to sides. You can throw your bindings on. You're ready to go.
Putting the board back together is also extremely easy. You want to put them in on a bit of an angle. Slide it in, flip it up the tip and tail. There you have it ready to go. When you throw your bindings on it's gonna help the board stay a lot more rigid and it's a great product. This board comes in four different sizes ranging from a 159 to a 169. This is the 162 which is suited well for my height and weight.
It has a lifetime warranty so the bindings are attached in a riding mode with these four pucks. You can set it up at home very easily with the guide that they provide for you. The pucks are slanted about three degrees. This allows for your knees to be slightly bent. This is going to give you a more powerful stance when you're strapped on your snowboard, of course, you're going to be aggressively charging the mountains. If you want to a powerful stance that you're going to be stable and your feet the bindings.
I have been the light red rail, very lightweight - about four pounds. The aluminum base has this pattern in it to help keep from icing up, snowing up. These are very lightweight and durable and also very comfortable. I've really enjoyed riding with these. The rail system works fairly easy, just slides right in and then you've got a pin on the toe side. It just slides up through and attaches here very sturdy, very stable. Really enjoy these bindings. You can set them up many different ways so that they're adjusted to your particular snowboard boot. You can put the toe piece over your toe or around it. However, you feel comfortable. The adjustable heel cup is great for touring also. As you can make your stands aggressive for the downhill are very loose for long strides when in tour mode. A great feature with the light rail bindings is the avalanche ripcord. There're holes located on the clip side where it's a cord that attaches from both buckles. In the case of an avalanche, you can rip the cord and it will unlock your ladders, slide the board off your feet and you can ditch it completely. This has been a product review for Backcountry Skiing Canada. Thank you.
Hey my name is garrett tate I'm here with Boulez skis and split boards at the. Tahoe mountain sports about to give a product clinic on the new stuff we have for 2014 and 15 just the kind of basic. Distinction between ski and snowboard. Construction the cap is gonna be lighter. A better for back country the sidewall is. Gonna be heavier but more sturdy and able to give a more specific flex profile as if it's a better feel on the. Slopes for both skis and snowboards so that's why i like inbound skis typically have sidewall construction, but they're not as good for back country because they're gonna be heavier another disadvantage is especially with skis and the texas split boards when you're skinning is that the sidewall is vulnerable to getting kind of jacked up. A little bit just because it's higher and straight there but it gives you the much better ride that much better feel and so this is going to be the park snowboarder the person who is in bounds a lot too but wants to get in the back country and this is a light set up compared to other brands out there and so it's still a very good everyday touring machine for folks but it's the. One that's gonna feel more like the boards that folks are used to so that might be why more people kind of stay towards this where this one is kind of. New and unique to the scene in that it's the totally touring specific board it's. Capped construction so it's gonna be significantly lighter it's not gonna. Feel quite the same on groomers because it doesn't have the ability to have the layers on the inside so you don't have the same flex profile so it won't be quite as supple and enjoyable on the. Hard pack but then on the powder where we don't feel that as much it works and the weight savings are huge here, and we. Don't see as much kind of jacking up at the sides because the way that and then Cartesian that you guys will carry the male and female version obviously just a graphic change and then a size range difference so that's the. Female one of the top sheets for the female variants and this is this one setup kind of the whole way it goes these pucks are counted three to three. Degrees in so the feet are naturally just a little bit tilted in three degrees or two point seven to be real specific and that's something that is pretty unique and gives a big difference. In the feel of somebody's ride when they're when their feet are just a little bit can't it like that so these all it takes is popping these out and then resetting them at whatever width or. Stance that you have so this puck system. Doesn't do't isn't the efficiency on this board as much as the revelatory's it. Is kind of really make that process easier and so this demonstrates kind of. The sluggishness of how you got to move those pups which isn't necessarily bad if it's up for up so you can change your stance really easily so that's the new puck system how this hardware system works you just pop off these ends. And then these boards just slide apart. These get tilted this way so that the. Hardware's out of the way and then it's in split mode the Cartesian as a directional twin with two centimeters of setback generous rocker in the tail and. A playful flex so that's where you see kind of difference you have more ability to design flex into this board with that with the sidewall construction versus that cap which is better to the. The folks that are riding inbound well and playing more on the features in the back country another difference is kind of what the materials are on the inside so the Cartesian is the is aspen. Wood the whole way core where this one. Polonia is kind of the ultralight wood design in there with a carbon top sheet what's the weight because a back country board that's one of the biggest things right that you're thinking about the mail revelatory is six eight ounces and. Then mail Cartesian is seven so. It's almost a pound difference between these pen a woman's is six pounds eight ounces in the men's and women's have the same camber profile it is yeah they're. The same board they're just smaller just the scaled-down version of it and then the skin we sell the skins in a couple different models the cheapest version you can get with just a tip the toe clip. And then they stop the tail may just. Stick tons of people use those, and they work fine it kind of depends on it changes where you are in the snow consistency how well that sticks in my experience. Skiing i travel a lot in the winter and. So i often see that fail on me as soon as it starts to get snow and ice built in their just doesn't stick anymore it comes off and i'm wishing i had a template so for a little bit more money the tail clips available you can either get the skis with the tuff that pre mounted like this or you can actually start with the cheaper version that doesn't have a tough clip figure out. That you wish you had the toe clip meters in mine and it's pretty easy to mount on there.
Dave frisson here from full a manufacturing back country skiing canada talking a little bit about our new split board called the revelatory bc it's. A one of it's the first of its kind it. Has a scale or attraction base on each. Split work half unique it's not the. Skin replacement, but we added the scale, so they keep your skins in your packet more often it's. More for long low angle approaches if. Your yo-yo riding if you're on a traverse on a rich diverse and it also features our new channel puck system or. Those channels in lord haves and it. Makes the set up your stance with an angle so much faster you just loosen the. Screws and then you can move the puck spray need to toe and heel and it's just. Going to make it so much easier for users to set themselves up.
If your splitboard is new you may need to adjust split clips, tip, and tail. Make sure that clips slide smoothly. When they are closed, the splitboard should feel tightly locked.
Except for the board itself, you also need additional gear:
- Splitboard bindings;
