Finish Line 1-Step bike chain cleaner

1-Step is recommended for cyclists who take a minimalist approach to drivetrain maintenance. It is formulated with rust and corosion inhibitors that provide ultimate protection in extreme conditions including coastal salt air. 1-Step does not compromise on its ability to reduce pedaling friction over long intervals, often exceeding 100 miles. Professional mechanics also use 1-Step to free gummed-up shifters and stiff cables.

Hey guys wanted to bring you a little go-to bicycle chain: lube um, finish line one step, it’s a lubricant and cleaner um. Personally, this is a super important. I think, if you’re a cyclist uh, if you ever notice on your bike or another person’s bike, while they’re pedaling or you’re pedaling, you have that really squeaky uh sound coming from the the drive train.

That usually means your chain is dry and it should be a lube. You should have your chain should be lubed and I’ll uh and I’ll. Tell you why? One reason why you should have your chain lube is because for one it’s gonna last longer and it’s gonna prevent it from rusting and two: it’s gonna keep it clean and it’s gonna keep your shifting, uh nice and smooth um.

What you wanna do when you apply the chain lube! Is you pretty much are going to put it uh on the whole chain on the in the middle of the top chain, where the rollers are um you’re, going to apply it on on the top the whole chain and you’re going to wipe the excess from the sides of the chain off and get rid of it um? This is a four ounce bottle.

You could there’s two other sizes you can. You can get um this one’s 810. Let me see. Actually you got four ounce. You got eight ounce and uh. You got your 17 ounce. You can get of this um yeah, so the four ounces eight time. This is what I have right here. Um. I highly recommend using chain lube. If you’re, if you’re a cyclist, you cycle a lot, especially in the winter, very very important um.

I have the amazon link in the description and if you want to subscribe to my channel I’ll, be doing uh more videos in the future. Thanks.

It possible to clean your chain in under 60 seconds, without removing it from the frame with three spinning brushes side plates covers a metal, wear, magnet and no drip angle. A clean chain is only a minute away to use the pro chain cleaner start by filling the unit with citrus or multi degreaser to the fill line to clean, put the bottom of the unit under the chain and depress the chain, with the top secure with the wire strap closure with the chain near the rear.

Derailleur back pedal slowly for approximately 20 revolutions to fully clean the chain. When clean under the wire strap closure to remove the unit, use a moist rag to remove any residue left by the degreaser, then you can reload your chain and go for a ride.

Finish line one step cleaner and why would I want to use one step? Well, one step is a great product. If you just want to lube your chain and go ride, you want it simple, you want it easy. This is the product, because when you apply it, it has a very aggressive penetrant that gets in and pushes all the old bloom and the accumulated dirt grit grime out of the park, shaving your whatever moving and leaves behind fresh nice loop, you’re ready to go so so a good way to think about.

It is a lot of times, we’ll wonder! Well how often do I relive a window every way you know what should I be looking for? Well with one step, all you’re really looking for is when the chain gets dirty or drawing that’s it. You just want to apply some more if you want to worry about cleaning the chain just spray on some one-step, it’ll penetrate in there and push all the other junk out, leave behind nice, fresh lubricant, and you go right so that easy wet once that is a wet style lubricant.

So it stays wet on the chain and in some drier, dustier climates. You may find that it Dirty’s up fairly, often and so you’re applying. And if you find yourself that you find that you’re applying blue more than you like then try our dry Teflon lube. It attracts less dirt because it goes on the chain wet but dries. But you’ll notice with the dry Teflon movement does not have a built-in cleaning function like the one-step, so eventually that chain or part will accumulate enough dirt.

They don’t need to be cleaning. You’ll need to use. One of our degree search see our degreasers in the videos on those four good explanations there. But if you want a one-step, 1 product solution to keeping your parts running smooth and clean, then this is a very popular. The folks who just want it easy and want to get back on their bike and go ride.

Hey everybody, so this is my grungy pretty dry, so I decided to try a different chain lube where I’d actually tried it before and it seemed pretty decent. So I wanted to try it again and just document how many miles it goes here. So I’d used it before put it on this time. But it’s just a finish line. One step. It’s like a chain lube and cleaner kind of all-in-one type deal.

So you know it’s like I, say: I tried it before and it seemed pretty decent. So basically you just you know, shake up the bottle and put it on and essentially wipe your chain off. So you know that’s what I did and wanted to just put it on here and just try it real world conditions. You know, live in Denver commuting, Denver and stuff, and it’s pretty normally pretty dry.

So you know there was I got caught in one little quick, rainstorm and then there’s always sprinklers seemed like going off in the in the morning or night. So you go through quite a few puddles up right through got a couple options of taking a some dirt road or gravel road shortcuts, so I’ll typically take those, but basically you just you know, put the Lube on and then I just you know, wiped it off, really well get all the excess off there and you know it did it.

Definitely. This is a Lube that you put it on, and you know immediately after this I’m commuting home so felt pretty good initially, but anyway, this is kind of what it looked like after it was on, see. I did a little messy hasty job, getting lube on my rim and stuff. But anyway, let’s see what how it comes out here. After a long term test went, saw Greta, Van, Fleet the other night, so let’s take a 20 second Greta Van Fleet break.

So this is the result after 200 miles it’s obviously it’s pretty dirty. It’s not horrible, but I’ve got about 200 miles. Just commuting. I haven’t cleaned the bike at all. It’s pretty messy and it’s of those 200 miles, probably 15 to 20 miles, we’re on dirt roads and gravel roads and stuff and went through a few puddles and sprinklers and got rained on just a little bit here and there, but so far it’s held up pretty well, you know.

Normally the tests Allah uses. If you just tap on it, you can hear the rollers rattle and it’s just just starting to get there, but it still rolls pretty smooth and everything get really close-up shot here, but you know kind of twisting it. You feel a little bit of grindage, but no no I’d say all in all. Just for something I put on and quickly wipe down.

You know it’s a dirty chain to start with: it’s I like it for a low maintenance, commuter type chain, lube or any kind whatever. You know it never felt rough, a lot of chain legs and you first put it on you know it till it kind of evaporates, the liquid carrier. It starts to feel pretty rough, but no, no I’m pretty impressed with it. Overall, that’s it’s a good! You know if you’re not inclined to take your chain off and degrease everything.

Frequently it’s you know, there’s definitely not a lot of buildup on there. So I think it’s pretty decent stuff, so I’d recommend it I’ll probably keep using it since it we’ve got it up at work and such so yeah anyway. Hopefully you found the video helpful um feel free to comment if you have any questions or either which ye but anyway, thanks for watching you.

So it’s called finish line Pro chain market period. He said that some magazine rolling back says all in under 60 seconds. It’s going to take me longer than 60 seconds to read the directions, I suppose, but on the right side, it’s got eight uses on this bottle here on this bottle. Twelve uses on this one and some big giant green thing.

I’ll read the directions clean my chain and my bike- that’s been put away for a year. I was supposed to clean it. The fourth third away, but I got lazy following directions. It’s also this guy in the box, which has an arrow in there and the directions say, insert this onto this following the arrows. Oh, it’s obviously going to slide on here, but there is no other arrow, while the directions plainly say arrows, which means, if I had this arrow here I would make it go the same way the other arrow went, but there are no other arrows.

Are mine, so it’d be nice if they could take that s off of the arrows part, you will not fit this way, no matter what you try, there’s a little thing. There is going to prevent you from squeezing it in there so you’re going to go in from the bottom and push the arrow there’s an arrow on each side. It’s still, if you’re going to say, follow arrows or an arrow here.

Put an arrow on here match up the arrows slide them together. We’re going to slide that in there there you have it. So if I wanted to pretend like I knew what I was doing, I’d watch a youtube video about this, but instead I try this on my own without any help. I want you to place your chain in the middle gear.

Mine luckily has three years back here on the back. They want you to be on the third smallest. It should be where it is now where we remove top to open unit. This does work and I can push this car back. Add this part actually, from there comes out of there, move this guy again just place this unit on the lower part of the chain.

You should read some more rules because to shut the chain in there and put the top back on and then close it up, pull the clothes claim chain cleaner towards the ground, about two inches and slowly backpedal for more attention, because those hmm put the chain on the four smallest rear gear and for less tension on the second small as we’re here.

This is a dry run. Alright, once satisfied with the correct tension, what is the correct tension? I have no clue. Why do they assume? We know everything they’re talking about so watch. Your SATA sided with the correct tension supposed to go backwards for 20 revolutions. Didn’t do that remove top of unit and fill chain cleaner to indicated line with echo tech degreaser.

The line right here this is fluid level cut some white stuff going on. Were you here, I didn’t notice before. If it’s getting a little abuse, it shouldn’t be getting yeah, they say. If I’ve done this right, it’s not even dinner trip now, I’m, pretty sure I didn’t. Do it right I’m, going to backpedal 420 revolutions, no matter what I’m supposed to go backwards, so I’m holding this down? What’s going on, so that’s my 20 bucks looks bad Jane I lost my directions.

I knew that was gonna happen. Is uh wipe this with the rag where’d you go. You can see how much stuff is on there, so it did turn a lot of stuff into key greasing. So the rules were to uh bike. This guy off with the wet bag she’s got to get the bike away, know sprayed you with water. This is the first time done any maintenance to this bike.

Besides it had a recall and that guy here it holds the front wheel on. So if you have a trek bike with disc brakes, you should talk to somebody about that recall, and they also gave me a coupon one. Hi free recall for 20 bucks, I use that 20 bucks to buy three inner tubes and we called it. Even so did it take 60 seconds it might have, did I.

Do it right, I’m, going to you two and find out? Oh it to the finish. Line’s YouTube channel everything went great. They had a stand to put that back tire, get it off the ground, so you could back pedal that way. Instead of picking up the bike and doing what I did and instead of using water to wash off the chain afterwards, they use the moisture egg and then they said after the moisture egg reloop your train and go for a ride.

So after I fire up the hose and wash off my chain from the stuff, that’s on there I’m going to let it dry and put this on I think I. Have it.

Complete cleaning solution for cleaning bike chains, rear cogs and chain rings includes chain, scrubber gear, brush and degreaser cyclone chain, scrubber cleans chains quickly easily and effectively. Here clean brush reaches deep between gears and other places where dirt collects chain bright chain and component cleaning. Fluid is plant-based and will not harm alloy plastic, rubber or carbon fiber. For more details. Please click on the link in description box below you.

Scrubber, this is exactly what you need. It’s obtain the chain in your bike, so undo the clips you’ve got all your scrubbers in here. These are all removable, so they’re, really easy to clean. You’ve also got a magnet on the bottom, so that collects any. Mr Halleck particles stops a gamer any chain. That’s the last thing you need. So let’s fill the thing up, so you have a fill line here. You can use any citrus cleaner to clean your chain, the line there we go.

Let’s take it over to the bike, so bring your chain scrubber over load it onto the chain. You push the chain into the scrubbers, bring the top over push the clips on hold the handle and go back and feel Matt. You can see already help like that’s going. I recommend doing this over the grass rather than your patio, because oily fluid will leak out and it might stain your patio. So just keep going a few more times, probably going to have to do this two or three times so you basically keep doing it until the fluid stays clean undo.

The clips you can already see how clean the chain is, and you can see how filthy that is so I’ll go and empty that out and refill it. So we have fresh, cleaner in the second time, still dirty, maybe third time lucky we’re getting there. Let’s go for a fourth time. That’s looking pretty good! Now you know oil is run freshwater through the chain at least twice just to remove it with degreaser from the chain.

Final rinse, that’s a good idea to give your chain cleaner, a really good Queen, and it will last you a long time there. So you can see how clean the chain is. Do isn’t it make the rest of the drivetrain match the chain. So these SRAM 1 by 11 drive trains with derailers have a lockout on them. So you push the derailleur forward, push the button and it’ll stay there, and you can take your chain off the front chainring you can get in that.

Thank you very okay. Scrub now, I’ll use a watering, can I’ll give that a good rinse off wash the rest. Now it’s important to let your bike dry and then we can grease everything up so to clean. My bike. I used this premium, Brush Creek from muck off really good. You go get a small brush a large brush and you get this brush, which has all manner of things on for getting in your derailleur gears chain rings.

If anyone can tell me what this to fuzz I’d love to know now, as I said before, I only if you use dry, lube I find wet lube just attracts all the dirt and dust you’ll be cleaning your chain after every ride. Even in the rain, I use dry lube, it’s absolutely fine, so give the bottle a good shake and I find the there. It is the quit link and then you’ve got a starting point and an end point. So after a good shake I put a DAB on each link like your way around to do the whole chain.

It’s important to use good quality branded, Lube well, I think it is anyways! You get an expensive bike. You want to look after it. You might as well spend a few part more and get yourself some decent lube, so you get back to the quick link and then you know, you’ve done the whole chain now I. Let that soak in for five minutes turn it around. Let it get into all the moving parts now once you’ve, let the deep soak in get a clean dry rag, and you want to rub wipe off the excess, because you want the Lube in the chain and not on the tank.

Lube on the chain is doing nothing other than collecting dirt and grime so wipe it off the dry little dry into a waxy film. It should be good to go for another couple of weeks. Beautiful I, highly recommend the Patil cyclone chain. Scrubber I got it because all my friends use it. They love it and I’m sure you will see.

The GSC-1, Gear, Clean Brush features a large comfortable handle with a curved toothed end to reach dirt cheap between the gears.

The tough nylon, bristles clean the derailleur and chain and works great on brakes and other places where dirt collects Park Tool, Chainbrite degreaser fluid is 100%, biodegradable and formulated for use in the CM-5 2 or as a general purpose. Cleaning fluid It won’t harm alloy, carbon fiber plastic or rubber parts. The Park, Tool, CG-2, 3, Chain, Gang, Cleaning, System.

Excited to show you two new products that I recently purchased for part two, the first one is the professional chain, scrubber, the CM 25, and the second one is the risk on the GG one, and both of these were released quite recently, so I’m really really happy to be amongst the first people in Sweden, at least to be able to review these units, and the grease gun is very, very similar to those of Park.

Sorry, a dual coke, which I also happen to own and I, made some comparisons of camera and I’m, quite confident that these are all manufactured in the same facility somewhere in the world. However, there are some differences in between the duo Co and the portal version, and the biggest one which I think is in favor of the duo. Co is the lack of the cap on the bottom end and really what is bad about the the lack of this cap is that when you prime this thing, it gets a lot more messy than the dual core version with cap, and the reason for that is because the piston and the bottom end which you press in order to prime the grease gun it has some lateral play on the inside, where grease will come out and depending on the hardness or the viscosity of the grease.

Sooner or later, you will hear will end up greasing down your workbench or the tray, where you will put this. The other thing that I notice is that the color coding has already started to come off and I, don’t know if this is due to early production or if it’s simply just bad painting bad paint job, but that will, of course, not affect the overall functionality of the grease gun itself.

So, but it’s worth mentioning one positive thing about the GG. One is, however, that it also has another mount which the dual core version lacks, and it will give you the flexibility of either using the canister or mounting a tube of, for instance, anti seasons anti-seize and directly to the grease gun itself, depending on what you want to lubricate I paid about 19 euros for this one, which is not too expensive compared to Swedish or European prices.

However, if it’s the first grease gun you’re going to buy I would recommend you to go with the debacle, rather than this will wait until you. You see more reviews on this grease cap and then there’s a question on why you need more than one risk on, but let’s take that in a separate video. The tool which I’m most excited about is actually the the chain scrubber itself and I.

Think that part two really nailed it with this one, because it’s I mean this thing is really really durable. It will definitely outlast you when your bicycles, if treated correctly, it’s made out of cast aluminum all of the parts. No, no plastic parts on the outside and all of the interior cleaning parts are all replaceable and the sponges and in the I mean the wheels and scrubs and all the mechanics aside are all attached to a single unit, which is very, very easy to remove for cleaning erasing.

And if you were to wear this thing out, you can order this a replacement spare part and you’re good to go for another couple of rounds. Part tool is recommending you to use this unit together with their own CB, 4 bio chain, Brits chain cleaning, fluid and which I happen to find very expensive and after expensive purchase like this I think that some of you might opt for a more controversial and less environmentally friendly alternative, and my experience from I mean tools like this, where you use Greece oil degreasers solvents chemicals is that sooner or later you will see failings and in in the paint job, and if that is important to you well, you should have a second thought and again this is just my thoughts.

I, haven’t even tried it out yet and so I don’t know how big of a problem that is or will become, but it’s just worth mentioning because I know there are some people out there that actually only buy part 2 tools because of the color and not always the quality, and with that said, we will put this thing together and I mean when you buy this or both of these they will come pretty much mounted no need for extra tools, except for the CM 25 here, where you need to attach the handle and the way you do.

That is that you use alum or hex key a 1 5 millimeters to to fasten the handle against the chain scrubber itself so and for this I paid around 90 years, which is a bit expensive, but I would say that still for I mean there’s really no other competition out there. So if you’re like me, you want to have your chains clean and I think in the long run, this is the best choice.

I will be using another weekly basis, so we’ll let you know if I see any issues with it and for the grease gun I will use it more like on a monthly basis. This was my first video in English, so please feel free to comment below and I will try to take your comments into consideration, consideration for my next video and also answer any questions that you have thanks for watching.

These are the park tool bike chain model, but it broke. I thought this is a replacement, but I, don’t think that’s gonna work either. So let me take you through why this one broke and the things that I think will keep this from being a good replacement. This is the Park Tool cm five-point cheer. You can see it just there. It’s the consumer model. I use this once a week, sometimes more, but at least once a week and here’s how it works. It’s got a top that comes off like this there’s a brush up there that spins freely.

This is the same brush right here, and this is a slightly different brush. You bring a chain through here and then you put the top one like this and the bottom secures to the top. With this latch. You flip it around like that and that’s where the first problem comes in. You can see there are a network of spider cracks if we get the glare off there, bunch of spider cracks down here and that’s because this process puts a lot of stress right there. This is not the original screw. There was a pin in there that was like riveted in some way that fell out a long time ago, and you can see that the other the other latch is here, because that one has also just broken, and this one actually I think has yeah.

It has worse spider cracks, so you can see the problem there, and this is just due to choosing a plastic. That’s not strong enough for the dimensions of these features. There’s a lot of force going in there and not enough plastic, and so it cracks and it’s a it’s a brittle plastic. So that’s a problem. The brittleness of the plastic also leads to a second problem which is I dropped us the other day and it cracked everywhere. There’s a big crack here. There’s a big crack here. It goes all the way down.

There’s a magnet, that’s supposed to go there, but that part broke also I, don’t know it just seems like this plastic is too brittle for this application, but as you’ll see when we compare it to this other one, it does have some strong points. So, let’s come back to that. This is the professional model. This one is the CM 25 professional chain cleaner. It has a housing made from aluminum, it’s a cast, aluminum looks like a die cast and maybe powder coated blue. Let me show you a couple things you can’t see on the website.

The first one is the way the handle attaches. The handle attaches right here with a little set screw. One one set screw, let’s point with something a little smaller there’s this set screw right there and the problem with that set it down. So you can see is that the handle Wiggles it pivots about that set screw. The set screw does a great job of holding on to the the main case, but there’s a bunch of slack bunch of slop at the edges here, and it allows this to rotate, and this is I just just got this and unpack this, and that is not gonna get any better with time.

Let me take this off and I’ll show you why that is so. I’ve loosened up the set screw, so the handle can can move now, and you can see the problem and the amount of lateral slop that it’s got if this were tight and the set screw was just holding it in then that would be just a fine design, but it’s not the set screw has to hold it in, but also try to restrain this this other slop and because there’s only one, it’s not able to do it. If there were two it would you okay, but there’s only one.

One way to tackle this kind of design problem is to use instead of a square. If we look at this piece of the handle here, you can see that it’s square. This is at a 90 degree angle with that, and there are some small champers here, but the the inside surface of this of the case I’ll show you what I mean right right in here. That does not have a corresponding chamfer, and so that means that this, when you put this in here, it doesn’t wedge itself in there, it just rattles around and that’s actually where this one works pretty well.

This handle is it’s not a square? It’s a it’s a triangle. The top is slightly narrower than the bottom, so that when you slide it in here that wedges itself in place and holds it firmly, despite a lack of any fasteners at all that that has worked great, and so if this one were improved with some kind of taper. That would that would handle this problem and allow one set screw to hold it in place. Once we open it up once we open it up, the the consumer model uses individual brushes, but this one doesn’t tip over, but this one the brushes come out as a cartridge, and so there’s the second problem.

This sponge falls right out and this cloth the chain the chain moves through this way, and so it gets scrubbed and then presumably, this sponge and cloth dry. It dry it out before it goes outside, but the sponge doesn’t stay in there. So it’s gonna, you know, fall out and be lost immediately and the reason it doesn’t stay in there is that it’s it’s too short. If it were, if it were a little bit longer, then it would stay in there. The sponge is held between this cross bar and that cross bar, and you can see daylight on both sides, so it just rattles around in there and there’s nothing to hold it.

Sometimes you get lucky in it and it stays in for a minute. It’ll just fall right out. The same is true on the bottom, but you’ve got gravity helping you out. In that case, this this cloth is really a pain that comes that comes out quickly too. This design is a little weird, it doesn’t look like I, don’t know the top and the bottom cloth retaining features are designed separately like they’re, not the same, and that’s a little weird, because the bottom cloth pertaining features actually work pretty good, because you can see the cloth pokes through goodway’s, and so it’s got good.

It’s got a good hold on there and the reason it can do that is that the cloth features on the bottom are closer together. They are on the top, let’s zoom in so you can see what we’re talking about. So we put these side by side. You can see that so this one is the bottom. It’s got the big brush. You can see that they’re closer together. If we line up the left-hand cloth slot, then you can see the right hand slots don’t line up and I’m surprised by that it would have expected them to use the same.

You know the same features on top and bottom yeah. Part of the reason why they didn’t is that this one’s getting pretty close to the end, so you have to kind of incorporate it into this. This end feature: ok, fair enough, but they you know the the top handles that problem differently and seems like the bottom could have as well. It would be more effective to do that, and the second kind of weird thing is that the width of the slots are different, so notice that the left hand cloth slots.

The top slot is wider than the bottom slot. The bottom the bottom slots match each other and the bottom slots match the top right slot. The top left slot doesn’t match, so the cloth just falls right out. That’s that’s pretty weird um yeah, so I don’t know in. In my view, that means that those those drying features aren’t aren’t very useful. Maybe maybe this sponge will stay in, but there’s there’s all this other stuff, that’s gonna. Either these will get worn out right away or more likely, they’ll fall out and this one will fall out and get lost too.

So that means that about I don’t know half the width is is not very useful and the handle Wiggles so I I’m not sold on this um on this pro version, I think that the case will hold up just fine, but I think the guts are not are not very useful and this consumer version is made out of a plastic. That’s that’s too. Brittle they’ve changed the design recently. This is the 5 2 and they have now the 5 3 available. But the plastic is the same. It’s gonna have the same cracking issues, at least at least from dropping, if not from the end latches, which, which they’ve also changed so I’m I’m feeling like Park, doesn’t make a tool, that’s built for me, a guy that you know I’m just a regular guy, but I use it pretty frequently once a week, sometimes more and I’d love to buy something from them.

But I don’t think either of these is the right tool.

Chain cleaning is an essential part of bike. Maintenance, We’ll walk you through each step for cleaning and lubing a chain in this Repair Help video, Hi, I’m Ben, with Park Tool The, first tip in getting a clean chai, is to use a degreaser Bicycle specific degreaser is formulated to cut through the thick buildup of grime, and oil usually found on most bicycle chains. Second tip use a chain cleaner, such as the CM-5 2 or the CM-25 I have here, You, certainly don’t have to use a chain cleaning device, but cleaning your bike’s drivetrain can be a messy process that involves a lot of prep and a lot of work.

Tools like the CM-25 and CM-5 2, significantly streamline the work and they do the job better as well. In addition to the chain cleaner and solvent You’ll need rags, soap & water, apron and rubber gloves. If you’re inside protect the surface you’re working on If you’re outside consider spraying water on the concrete to make grease and contaminants easier to clean up later, We’ve already checked our chain to make sure it’s not worn out See this other video for that process. Put. The bike in a repair stand Rotate the bike, so the lower section of the chain is level Shift to the smallest cog in the front and rear If.

You have a dummy hub. Remove the wheel and install the dummy hub, A dummy hub is recommended, but not required. It will add chain slack and keep the loosened contaminants away from the wheel and components Attach the chain cleaner to the lower section of chain, Make sure the chain fully seats into the brushes Fill with solvent to the fill line, Slowly pedal backwards, Pedal at least 30 revolutions Remove the chain cleaner and empty the solvent into a container Once. The contaminants have settled the solvent on top can be reused.

Check with local authorities for disposal Rinse out the chain cleaner and refill with soapy water Repeat. The process of installing the chain cleaner and running the chain through until the chain is thoroughly rinsed, While you’re cleaning the chain. It’s a good idea to also clean the other components of the drivetrain Wipe of the chain by running it through a clean dry rag and leave the chain to air dry or blow it off. With a compressor Once, the chain is dry, it’s important to lubricate the chain Use chain lube such as CL-1 and add a drop of lube to each individual rivet Next.

Take a clean dry rag back pedal to wipe off any excess lube This will prevent dirt from collecting on your drivetrain Remove. The dummy hub and reinstall the wheel The chain is now clean and ready to ride If. It’s true that a clean bike is a happy bike. Then this bike would be utterly despondent by how dirty its chain is. So it’s a good rule to clean your bicycle’s chain thoroughly around once a month if you’re riding regularly Thanks for watching this video on chain cleaning If, you have any other questions about how or when to replace your chain.

Watch these videos from Park Tool.

You so this is the park tool, cyclone chain cleaning system and I bought this I, don’t know maybe a couple years ago and use it maybe two or three dozen times since then and I- think it’s a really great little product. It’s a great way to clean your chain, minimize, the messiness of it and everything and I think overall, the design of it’s great. My one complaint about this, though, is that the way it’s constructed there’s originally, this had like a little I, don’t know what you call it: it’s like a little hollow round, split, pin thing that fits through here and same here and what ended up happening.

Is it cracked, the plastic cracked? Here it’s hard to see, but right there, it’s cracked and back here you can see that more. Clearly, that’s cracked and I guess the kind of plastic is maybe a little bit brittle. The other thing that happened is there’s this little plastic piece that holds this magnet on it. You can snap out of a hole in here that just broke on me and I didn’t even know. I had a problem with this until one day, I was cleaning it and all sudden.

This piece was not attached anymore and I. I didn’t realize that this little piece of coming up, if that’s because it had cracked- and it just allows it to come out so a little disappointing that as few times as I used, it is cracked on me like that. I, don’t know if the new ones have a different kind of plastic if they’ve been improved or not, but that’s one one weakness that I see about the design the way I went ahead and fixed.

This is I. Just pulled these little original barrel pin thingies on what you call out and I happen to have I think these are maybe rivets and had a split end on them and I went ahead and just poked these things through the other side and I bent the two prongs over, so that they can’t go anywhere. It’s not really a problem. As far as the fluid level, you know of it being a leak point. The fluid level is pretty far below where these things pop out smiling concern.

Now is all this plastic eventually break all together, but yeah. It’s a great little gadget. It’s it’s great for cleaning your chain. You know it does a pretty thorough job and it makes it relatively mess. Freeze, so yeah, that’s my one gripe about this product. So that’s kind of my long-term review. It’s it’s been working great for me, but the fact that this plastic, cracked- you know it’s not I, don’t know.

I was just a little disappointed. I’m gonna pay thirty five bucks and have this thing crack on you only isn’t it maybe two or three dozen times for a few minutes. You can see the cracks pretty good right there, but I’ll just keep using and hopefully I won’t just break altogether. So overall I would recommend buying this. If you ride your bike a lot and you clean your chain a lot. This is a really great thing to have.

If you want to see how it’s used, you know go to the park tool website and they’ve got a video on how to use this thing and all them and I’ll just make a little note. This little screw here. I just happen to have a perfect sized screw to reattach this magnet to the bottom without poking through there’s like a little recess, or this plastic piece would pop in, and this screw just happened to fit perfectly in there.

So now, I can’t really remove the magnet, but that’s okay, I can just run water and there with a toothbrush and get any metal particles out of the bottom. So that’s the other thing. This little thing right here broke, and so that’s like three failure points on this, but but otherwise I think it’s a great product. I mean the the design of it is really great for cleaning your chain. So so overall I would recommend this product.

Just beware that this can happen it can. It can break here. So maybe maybe when you store it you’re supposed to not have these clips putting tension on there, that’s probably why it broke because I stored it in the box. Clell closed up like that, and it does put stress on here so I, don’t know if the newer ones address this problem or not, but overall I think it’s great products. I would recommend getting it.

Have it.

Watch these videos from Park Tool.

Wd-40 bike degreaser is great for the removal of thick dirt. Grease and grime from your bike chain. First place the bike on a stand so that the rear wheel is free to turn with a rag under the chain to collect any dirty or excess liquid apply by spraying liberally onto the chain where it comes into contact with the rear cassette, while rotating the crank in a counterclockwise direction. This will ensure an even amount of degreaser is applied to remove any excess buildup of dirt and grime on the drivetrain once applied allowed to remain in contact for one to two minutes, the liquid will start to soften and lift dirt grease and oil from the chain easily to remove heavier stubborn buildup of grime.

You may need to agitate with a brush spray with clean water from a hose and dry with a clean cloth or towel. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have access to water, you can simply wipe off the chain with a rag cleaning. Your chain regularly helps to reduce, wear and tear and ensures optimum performance of your drivetrain finish line one step: cleaner, lubricant. Okay, we have all these loops. Why would I want to use one step? Well, one step is a great product.

If you just want to lube your chain and go ride, you want it simple, you want it easy. This is the product, because when you apply it, it has a very aggressive penetrant that gets in and pushes all the old lube and the accumulated dirt grit grime out of the park with your ever-moving and leaves behind fresh nice, blue you’re ready to go so so a good way to think about. It is a lot of times, we’ll wonder.

Well, how often do I remove a window every? What should I be looking for? Well with one step, all you’re really looking for is when the chain gets dirty or dry. That’s it! You just want to apply some more. If you want to worry about cleaning the changes spray on some one-step, it’ll penetrate in there and push all the other junk out, leave behind nicest fresh lubricant and you go right so that wet once that is a wet style lubricant.

So it stays wet on the chain and in some drier, dustier climates. You may find that it’s dirty some fairly, often and so you’re applying and if you find yourself a fun day or you’re, applying blue more than you like then try our dry Teflon lube. It attracts less dirt because it goes on the chain wet but dries. But you’ll notice with the dry TEFL new band does not have a built-in cleaning function like the one-step, so eventually that chain or part will accumulate enough directed only to be cleaning.

You’ll need to use one of our degree search, see our degreasers and the videos on those four good explanations there. But if you want a one step, one product solution to keeping your parts running smooth and clean, then this is a very popular. The folks who just wanted easy and I want to get back on their bike and go ride. The finish-line pro chain cleaner, makes it possible to clean your chain in under 60 seconds, without removing it from the frame with three spinning brushes side plates covers a metal, wear, magnet and no drip angle.

A clean chain is only a minute away to use the pro chain cleaner start by filling the unit with citrus or multi degreaser to the fill line to clean, put the bottom of the unit under the chain and depress the chain, with the top secure, with the wires trap closure with the chain near the rear. Derailleur that pedals slowly for approximately 20 revolutions to fully clean the chain. When clean under the wire strap closure to remove the unit, use a moist rag to remove any residue left by the degreaser, then you can remove your chain and go for a ride.
