The osprey kite 36 litre backpacks is a. Women's specific pack that's perfect for. Overnight trips lightweight backpacking weekend trips it's a great travel pack. And in my opinion it's lightweight. Enough and there's enough compression. And features with this pack that it would be great for a day pack as well we're going to dig into all the features and take a look at what makes this pack so great the first thing to look at with any pack is the suspension system and how it carries the load I'm going to. Turn the kite around and you have a. Light wire aluminum frame that's hidden. And a view here but it's a nice frame that provides a lot of stability transfers the weight of the pack right. To your hips right where it needs to be and the back panel here is osprey's. Airspace back panel there is some ridged. Foam that's behind this mesh so that. Gives a lot of breath ability and it prevents you from overheating in through. The shoulder straps here you have a lot. Of mesh and a lot of foam so that's going to also breathe wick away sweat and then on the hip belt you have film. As well and there're cutouts in that foam. So you have breath ability but that also cuts down on weight the hip belt here is. Pretty lightweight so it's a smaller capacity pack you don't need a super. Rigid hip belt here so it's you know. Perfect for the size of the pack and. I'll mention on the front of those ins. Front of that hip belt you have really sizable hip belt pockets big enough for. A cell phone a small camera keys granola. Bar anything like that with the kite you. Have two sizes you have extra small. Small and small medium and the extra. Small is a torso length under 16. Inches and then the small medium is anything over 16 inches, and they say 16. To 20 inch torso that size but this is adjustable so it's. Really easy to use their's velcro here. Behind this back panel you undo the velcro adjust the torso up and down and. Then you can get a really dialed in fit. Behind the torso adjustment there is a. Pocket for your hydration system so it. Doesn't come with a hydration system but you can buy one separately and you can actually access it from back here so you don't have to empty everything out of your pack in order to get into it's. Right here in the back really convenient and on the shoulder harness here you. Have really nice load lifter straps for adjust ability if you do use a hydration. System you can put that hose right through here on either side you have a. Really nice sternum strap with a whistle. On that strap and while I'm back here. I'll mention that you have stowed on the go trekking pole loops so it's something i really love about osprey packs is when. You're hiking and you don't want to use your trekking poles for a short period of time you can just stow them right here you don't have to take your pack off and lash them to the outside so it's. A really great feature there but all in all really lightweight really. Smart suspension system you've got plenty of pockets and organization so. Starting with the back here you have a nice pocket in the top lid this is a. Place i like to store things i want to get my hands on quickly like a first aid kit lightweight items so really nice. Pocket there if i flip it around there's. Two stretchy mesh pockets on the sides. And these are traditionally water bottle. Pockets but one on either side of the. Pack you have some loops up here on the. Top of the pack for lashing gear on the. Front you have a nice stretchy mesh pocket where you could keep an extra layer or i would you. Does it map pocket your hands on that quickly there's trekking pole attachment loops. Right here as well as tool loops here at. The bottom this is a top loading pack so. If i peel the lid off top opens up to be. Really big so i have this pack mostly. Packed out if i were using this as just. A day pack or a quick overnight pack i could compress this pocket down but you. Have one main pocket in the body. But you do have a zipper here in the. Bottom to access a sleeping bag or. Something in the bottom of the pack it's not something i see on a lot of smaller packs of this size so it's a really. Great feature with a zipper in the. Bottom so i mentioned this is kind of do-it-all pack and the reason i say that is that there's a lot of compression straps the top lid here you can really. Compress that down so if you're just. Going on a short overnight you can really compress it down there's also compression straps on the sides so you. Can compress that down and then as well. Here on the bottom now these straps here. Can double as possibly a sleeping pad. Area where you can lash gear but you can also really compress that down and if. You don't have it packed out completely you can still keep your gear really secure there's an included rain cover. With the kite series and there's a nice. Little pocket designated for that rain. Cover so if i show it there you've got a. Red rain cover there it's included with. The pack all in all with the features. The organization the adjustable torso. Length for a perfect fit and just all. The smart details that went into the osprey kite it's the perfect do-it-all. Pack for backpacking hiking and. Traveling it's the osprey women's kite. 36 liter.

Hi this is ashley with back country comm. We're in southern utah testing this year's new backpacking gear what i have here is ospreys new viva 50 women's specific pack the viva is a 50 liter. All-round backpack it's going to be great for two to three nights on the trail or just an overnight backpacking on a shoulder season like this pack works great i wouldn't take it out in the dead of winter but you do have room for extra layers and a pretty large tent osprey makes food women-specific pat's unlike the men's packs the shoulder. Shots will be narrower and the hip belt is going to be contoured the torso length on this pack is a small i fall in between and i had no problem adjusting the ladder system the torso length will. Be shorter you also have the ability to adjust it if you fall in between torso links being an all-around pack the vive. Has all the features that you want the compartments will easily carry a sleeping bag or tent and you have several pockets for a map gps camera and. Headlamp if you have any further. There's got a back on when you open. This one and you're still going in on the inside of it like it's still a. Pocket where you put your laptop but i mean if you don't want to open your backpack and you want to just put stuff in there that's uh that's pretty accessible and yeah then you got your. Strap more straps adjust it however you. Want it and then you got the chest one. You put it up in the middle of your chest and you can tighten that one up. However you wanted and then right. Here where the logo was that there's another little pocket you could put a little more stuff in there yeah little. Like little stuff and stuff little stuff and stuff yep little stuff. Of stuff and then finally and the here's. The inside one the inside string adjustment dinghy with jigger and then. It's got on the outside and it's got the one so it's extra secure of no. And it's a forty liter backpack and it's. Actually a it was specifically designed. By north face to be a woman's pack and i. Thought maybe i could you today and did turn out that it just. Isn't right for me. Her big guy six-foot tall. But it has a lot of cool features on it. It was actually voted like what they. Call the killer value in 2007 by. Outdoor magazine it's a very cool. Pack the way they've thought it out just. Tons of ways to adjust it but no matter. How hard a hey justin yesterday everything i could get it pretty close that you know it's just not. Designed for me but it's pretty cool pack so let's start with what was on my. Shoulders all day these are very thick. Very padded shoulder straps. Does have the sternum strap. Yeah it has load lifters on top which i. Was using and moving a lot they're really cool these are just really easy. These are just really easy. Of course the waist belt are just real easy that also has these rear. Stabilizers that this you can bring the pack in i found once i got the hip belt. On just right and started snagging in underneath and onto my back just enough. So i can keep the ventilation right. It was pretty a pretty nice pack even. Though it wasn't fit for me. They don't have little. Bags right here which i like on every one of my back but the way they have this. This tensioning system down here it actually starts here goes up to the front and comes back way up underneath. Here so just the weight the amount of different little nuances that you can do. To this pack is just really amazing. It's very a very technically designed. Got other packs that are very simple i appreciate the simpleness they definitely was kind of excited to cook see what i could do with all the little. Adjustments on this see what's made out. Of. So it's a fabric saber-6 420d ripstop. And saber 12 the whole thing is three. Pounds 14 ounces it's a forty liter pack. So it's twenty-four fifty cubic inches. The range of waste range is 17 to 20. Inches taxes are -. But so you know I'd like to see a few. More things on here, but they have so many ways to adjust this i can see why they didn't put anything on here to a. Little sachs you know i don't. Have little bags on the waistband, but they have so much going on down here for adjustment for comfort i can see why they didn't so. It has this vertical in here it's. Basically just an open channel so if it gets hot it can come up and escape out of your back very thick padding all the way around on. The back so it's definitely meant to be on your back some of the things i did. Like was like right here on the zipper pulls they have a kind of coated with a em, so they have it with the small pair. Of quarter utility core, and then they put like a heat shrink on that so even with gloves you can you could open up all the zippers and same thing on that. When i carry eat shrink why they did that i don't. No but it does make it really easy to do all the zippers are real. Solid and then they use a lot of like. Stretchy cloth around here to. Make it flex and inflate so to compress. It you've got compression strap. Here compression strap here and the same. On the other side. The compression strap at the top. There's what three — there. And you at the top it compresses down. You do have a couple little utility. Straps on here not a lot. And they don't have any on the conduct the lid itself I'd like to have some little straps up here too just. Because of what i do they do have some little straps on the. Barbary bottom. Little ones there otherwise there so you could put your sleep role on the bottom. We have some pretty big loops right here. Necessarily no but. So they do but for hiking cool i even have ski situation they have a. Nice real nice bottom. Big bears in there this is quiet. A bus system man we're strapping, so he's. Got a lot going on for that i. Think would be a good winter bag. But 40 litres great woman's been definitely a fabric is a very strong. Very durable so here we have the lid in the brain. Then do that it's not a detachable brain. It's just fine by me i. Lost one had that replaced on a. Arc'teryx the only axis of the frame is. Back here bye-bye. Was big zippers on it. And it's got a nice area there not a ton. Of room but we go. Has a nice mesh area at the top and. Key luke. You're real valuable stuff there trigger. You know be a puppy. So it's for a forty liter pack that's probably an appropriate size. Now on the inside of it. Most packs has got this. Tiptop here shoots a top on it so you. Can pack your stuff in and set it down. And on the inside it is. Hydration bladder compatible so. And it has ways for that tubes to come out on either side but you can put a hydration pad in there does not have a. Hook to hook your hydration pad so i keep it from cycling down the frame of. It is two aluminum stays a plastic frame. In there so you could probably do some adjustments there as well as usually. Leave all that stuff in there someone designed it real well actually they did it right the main compartment. He's open it has i get trampoline at the bottom so the bottom of it is separate from the top so you put all your stuff. In there. Sleeping bag compartment. Down here in the bottom and things can't actually fall. There there're polls. So it you know that's what a pack seemed to be. That was now i ended up using the. Hydration bladder for. Because on the sides it does have pretty nice mesh bags with. The spring time. Yes i have that and then this tap. And overall it's a nice bed about one last. Pocket this is that little pocket in the. Front it's not not very big. I think I've become really accustomed to. Saw my packs out of the floor a bigger panel on the back so it makes. It easier to put your rain jackets and when you're removing your layers you can. Pretty fast there are dentists before tv too bad so you know overall i think it's. Hey there folks luke here with the. Outdoor good review i hope you're all doing well today for this episode we have the fjällräven Nabisco 55 liter packs. 360 time you guys have seen this pack. Before and our stealth overnight adventure wear is a winter storm coming. In we were just going through the woods like crazy this pack is tough as nails. It's awesome go ahead get comfortable let's take a look at it now so here you. Go guys here is the Nabisco pack this is. The 55 liter version now this is the older version of this pack from what i. Understand the 55 liter male version has. Been discontinued it's no longer available I'm sure you could find it used on ebay and so on but there's a 65. Litre version and now the 55 liter. Version is for women so if you go out. You're looking for one of these packs you come across one right here on the. Back you should be able to see that it says Nabisco 55 right next to it will. Either be an m or a w and that will signify it if it's for the male or for. The woman so with that being said if you get the 55 litre version or the 60 liter either way you're getting an awesome pack we'll go ahead and start by taking a look at it right here at the very top you have a drag handle right below that you have a zippered pocket which gives you access to the lid very good quality zippers these are ykk zippers good quality pull. On them too good action you have some. Bungee cord right here on top so you could put i don't know your sweater whatever you want to your brain jacket out here maybe let something dry you have a draw cord with that so you can cinch it down real tight of course. There's the fox leather very good. Quality the lid is hunkered down to the pack thanks to these two straps. On the inside of the lid you have this large zippered mesh pocket which. Includes the rain cover included it even. Has the fox on it you have this buckle right here with plenty of strap it's so you can cinch down your load or expand it you have a. Drawstring pull right here at the middle. And then this does extend up with another drawstring pool so you can expand your load to fit your gear to fit. Your needs going down in the center you. Do have a pocket very good amount of space you can fill up this entire section right through here flipping the. Pack over to the side compression straps. With strap keepers very nice quality you. Do have water bottle pockets down here at the bottom which are stretchy too so. You can fit anything that you need to in there you have the same features on the other side of the pack so as you can see. Here the pack is now laying completely flat because this is a cool feature on each side you have a zipper and another. Zipper check this out you can zip all. The way down zip all the way down on this side and peel this open and that. Grants you access to all the contents of your bag i love this feature on backpacks fjällräven got it right i. Haven't seen a pack that uses velcro at the top but this really does work well you just simply line it up smash it. Together and you are good to go being. Able to access all of your gear like that is just fantastic it's very. Smart now my friends take a look here at. The bottom of this pack it is nice and flat and it's molded to be that way that. Was your pack will stand up most packs. Are not able to stand up but this one can it's absolutely awesome it's. Definitely different i haven't seen a pack like this before that has that formed bottom it's very cool it works well when it comes to the harness system it's what you expect just terrific quality. Hadded extremely comfortable you have load lifters sternum strap with. Emergency whistle you have a very large padded waist belt with one pocket on the right-hand side ah it's like i left something in it from. My last trip I'll eat that on the way home very good buckle all the typical. Adjustments that you would expect you. Can also pull the load of the pack closer to the hip belt very nice now. There are a couple things i would like to point out that really just show off the type of quality the type of thinking that went into this pack check out this d-ring right here metal very solid very. Sturdy let's fold this back here now check this out you have one of the compression strap buckles and you see this you can take this out and adjust it. You can move it up you can move it down any place that you need to that is. Incredibly smart that is a very good feature having fixed compression straps. Really limit the way that you can load your pack the way that you hunker it down so being able to move those up and. Down really opens up a lot of doors for. The way that you can hunker down your load and get it comfortable for your trip with the water bottle pockets right below you do have this drawstring on each one so you can slide your water bottle in and then pull it nice and. Tight on the inside you have a clip as. You can see for your hydration bladder so you can just lock it into place it. Prevents the whole thing from sagging another great feature below the hydration keeper you have a zipper which gives you access to the. Frame sheet and the aluminum stays i. Showed mentioned below that you have an additional zippered area and this is. Perfect for maps its perfect for keeping extra cash if you're traveling. Around that way if something happens you get robbed you have a spot with extra. Cash hidden away trust me you need to do. It if you're a backpacker if you're a traveler below that you have a hydration. Sleeve which can hold three liters of. Water easily other than that there are no more sleeves there are no more pockets you can shove your sleeping bag down in the very bottom there is no set writer so it's just one big pocket so my. Friends that is the Nabisco 55 packs this. Thing is very impressive i absolutely loved it I've used it numerous times you guys saw it in the overnight adventure that stealth camping one i can't really remember exactly what i called it but it was a ton of fun and. This pack really did perform well and it took a lot of abuse i was really just. Bushwhack and pushing through the brush i was way off trail just using some maps. And some navigation yeah and it just. It's held up so well over the years I'm just so impressed with this pack now this is the black color you could find these in numerous colors there's black there's green there's un blue and this. Runs 270 dollars from the fjällräven dot. Us website for that price i think it's. Fantastic you know it's like with their pants like i have on here they're really expensive you look to pay around $100 a pair and you would think that their backpacks would be much more expensive more on the same level as our tareq's, but they're not two hundred and seventy dollars and you're getting an. Amazing backpack that really does have some cool features 55 litres this comes. In at four pounds eight ounces so it's know it is not super lightweight by any. Means but thanks to this harness it is. Very comfortable that is true so for our look at the pl raven Nabisco 55. now the go guys I'm here to give a. Review on the osprey tempest for tea bag. This is the extra small which makes it. Actually a 38 litre rather than a 40. Litre yeah i just recently got this I'm. Planning on going on some overseas. Travel the reason i got the extra small. Was that i could fit into it and then also that it fit more of the dimensions. Of being able to become a carry-on. Rather than something that i would have to check i wanted something that had enough room for 10 sleeping pads all my. Close some electronics and yeah. Basically just all my needs as far as. Being overseas and traveling for an extended period of time i really liked look the look of this bag. Online i checked it out on their website. Which is probably where i would recommend doing any specs checking of. Any backpacks would be to go to the. Brands website because i have found that. On amazon or any outfitters websites. They just don't have the correct specifications i got this through rei. It's about i think 160 dollars and the. Things that i really do like about it or. What drew me to the bag were i really. Like the kangaroo pouch in the front this mesh pouch I've already done some. Extended backpacking and this is kind of like a must for me because I'm not the. Most organized person in the world and when have like maybe a jacket or a raincoat that i don't want to open up my entire. Pack to put back in here and make it. Super organized i just like to shove it into here and it's nice to say you have. Snacks or something that you want to just get to fast this is a must for me another thing that kind of drew me to. The pack was this is what they call a. Brain on a backpack and i like having a. Rather, larger brain it's just pretty. Pretty large and i like that you can fit. You know a good portion of stuff in here. One thing that i thought was kind of. Different about the design on this one. Which i do like that it's somewhat. Detachable we're just flexible i don't know that you can fully remove it because this is the weird part it kind of has this strap system that goes from. They i don't know they got kind of funky with the straps on this backpack to be honest it's got this one that connects to this it kind of runs down through these two loops and then back up through this knot and that can kind of cinch it. Down which i do enjoy that it keeps it. Pretty sturdy but i just think that there's kind of necessary leakage one. Think that i have come to realize after. Having received it was that these straps. Are i think a little bit too simple for. Me and not as comfortable as i was. Hoping so just putting it on putting you. Now a lot of gear in it and testing it. Out and feeling it out these are pretty thin and as far as osprey packs go. They've come a long way with how. Amazing and cushioned and patted their. Straps are the pack that i hiked with. Through a year and a half it was like my. Home it was the osprey aura 65 and not. Long straps in compare more amazing these i just i don't. Now if i can get behind a bag that's gonna actually hurt my shoulder ernest. Because I've gotten spoiled so yeah this. Is the back of it which is pretty decent. I think as far as you know back to concern you do get a lot of airflow in here but in again it's a slight. Disappointment compared to where osprey. Is now with their backs especially i think with the anti gravity backs that they're coming up coming out with right now this just you know i don't know that. You can get as much air flow as you know. The other box do because they're almost you know of of your back it does have. The adjustable shoulder straps where you. Can get in here and adjust it to size. Which is nice it does have this the. External bladder right here which i do. Enjoy probably better than having it on. The inside for me i don't know if it's. Completely 100% necessary cuz I'm not. Even sure I'm gonna be taking my bladder on my travels so something again I'm. Just gonna kind of way out so these are a side mesh pocket, and they have some. Blue straps here that it goes either on. I'm not super stoked on the design or. The quality it just seems kind of. Slightly flimsy so and we can give you a. Lot of to work with here i know. It's the extra small and i mean that's. Kind of what it comes with but say you're having a heavy day and you. No need a little bit more room for. This like it's not that big so i enjoy. That there aren't super long straps cuz. On my last one they were really long but yeah i just give at least a little bit. More oh and it's got this sternum strap. And the sternum strap is adjustable as well so that's nice to have one of these. That can adjust easily this little. Pocket i was somewhat excited for but i. Don't know what more than like your two. Fingers you can fit in here i was hoping. That it might be able to fit like my ipod but i have come to found out the. Test will not happen it's just way too. Small so that's kind of diss yeah i think that's the stow on the go trekking poles and so you can store them. Right here in here which is really nice. When you're hiking and you just don't want to use them or you have to kind of like scramble up some rocks so there's just the two entrances the bottom and the top i do like this kind of. Compression saint-jean my top which is your bags pretty full and you want to just cinch it down that's pretty nice it. Does open really wide which i like and. So you can just get in there and it's. Pretty nice that if you don't have a side entry then you've got a nice big. Open entrance to the top of your bag. Yeah so then there's the bottom entrance. Here and i don't know if i might just. Not read it but i was hoping for kind of. Like separation down here for my sleeping bag but there isn't any separation so i mean if you're taking. Put your bag some other stuff might fall. Out i don't know i just like for the. Divider here these clips serves or you. No sleeping mask or yoga mat or whatever you keep on here all around i. Feel like this is a pretty awesome bag but the only thing is. That for i think long distance traveling. It just doesn't do't have some of the. Some features that i like you know bag i would maybe recommend it for like some maybe week-long backpacking. Hikes or if you're more into the kind of. Minimalistic style i would say it feels really good i think I'm possibly just going to look for a another bag and find. Something that fits my needs because. So it really fits like that i haven't had a pack in a long time from nathan that have ever had durability. Issues and we take these on adventure trips through our store and let other people use them you know beat them up out in the mountains on weekend excursions stuff like that we've had really good luck with the durability what you'll get here is nine point three ounces hydration bass holds two litres. Bladder plus a ton of carrying space. This is a size extra small a couple. Things you should know about it's a vest so it's not a pack it is literally. A vest that you strap on so this thing doesn't move about three-quarters the. Way through the bladder in the back i got some tell when in my bottle here other pockets just a lot of accessibility. Grab back here in the front plus another. Pocket here that's on both nathan does some cool stuff with pull-tabs so when you're running in here you're not as able to get to things as. Easily you still have a full tab to help you give to that both of those sites. Have the same type of pocket setup I'm. Running currently with 22 ounce and one of these and it because it rides nice. And close to you it's not a lot of shaking or anything like that and that's one thing i really like a little. Tidbit here for you i always cut my hose. Down so that it fits a lot of people. Think they're supposed to use it at the length and for me I'm not a real big guy so this hose i have a bunch of a kind of hanging over here with this magnet closure right there i get it where i. Want it and then i take this nozzle out. Of their cut it where i want it put the nozzle back in so i don't have a lot of excess bouncing around and annoying me up here this is actually a system that. As you pull that tight it compresses your bladder in the back of the pack and when you do that you're keeping it from sloshing up and down and shaking around as much as you can you're so as you drink more of that fluid out of the bladder and you want to keep it from bouncing around compress that and it holds it nice and tight so you have as little sloshing as possible. You also have pretty sweet things velcro. Closure here for your bladder these are. All wide open on the top to fill in to. Clean and then another nice feature is. That the hose you hear that clip so you. Now that you're locked in and it's not going to be leaking when you put it back in there so if you want to spend some time refilling on-the-go during a race you can and it's not something that's. Cumbersome but it's also just really easy to work with electrodes like tab a. Holder here on the front another pocket. That zips and is expandable on the front. And then along with that here's an. Emergency whistle there are on the top here and on the bottom bungees with. It's for your checking pulls whether you put them up top or on bottom you carry your wives for, so she don't have to carry him because you're a gentleman yeah then you get to the side and again. More storage area those are sat right here below yeah and. It's nice easy because you loosen going back and tighten coming forward so you have a little leverage there, so they've really designed things nicely to work well with you while you're in action not while you're sitting on your couch at home loading it that actually during the activity as well and then on the back another huge stuff sack area. And i want you to see how thin that is. Everything on this is made to be super lightweight you can again see through. This pocket with light in it everything is aerated as well so the footprint. That's on here and how hot it gets on you is really limited as well and then. On top of that besides this bungee on the back there's. Another whole pocket in here that's separated from your bladder actually sits in its own pocket protected so there's a lot of carrying space in this setup without it being. Heavy this is the lightest pack that nathan makes with or without a bladder and it's one of the lightest packs on the market right now, so we've tested it done a bunch of running with shirt without shirt no rubbing on it anymore. Then you would have rubbing if you went out or in three hours in the texture that shirt once it gets wet you may have. Some chaffed but you're not getting any more taking from this from or from a shirt so i have experimented with that a little bit but i did a two-hour run in. So the for later vapor how is a pact. That i used when i want to be light and fast and i use it in 50k 50-mile races. It's got the bottles on the front, so they're easy to fill up in a race where. It's a hundred miles and they require. You to carry quite a bit of gear you know just because you're out in the mountains literally all day and all.
